if the kids ever have iphones as teenagers, they absolutely love (and plan to destroy) each other in imessage games. louise wins at pool every single time. gene obvi loves dots and boxes. and tina wants to play chess but gets confused so bob offers to try and teach her by playing with her on his phone but HE gets confused and they both give up and play four in a row. linda destroys everyone in cup pong (louise makes her play until late in the night, laying at the foot of their bed going “mom. mom. MOM. wake up. it’s your turn”. linda also loves a good game of mini golf but ginger plays that w her bc the kids hate it. this goes on well into adulthood. they all keep a score card in their own places and facetime when they have to update it
REAL AND CANON!! bob offering to teach tina but then getting confused himself is SO perfect lmao. also can we talk about the belcher family GROUP CHATS?? the group name is constantly changing because everyone is one upping each other with puns. bob makes an eggplant themed burger of the day and keeps excitedly sending eggplant emojis because he doesn’t know what they mean.

7, 8, 14, and 15 for the bb ask game!!
I've already answered 8 so here ya go
7. Favorite season?
Season 5! In my opinion it is the peak season of the show in terms of both stories and characters. There's no single bad ep for me. The humour is great, the storylines are entertaining and engaging, the characters get multiple shining moments. The finale is also one of my favourites!
Season 9 may also come close as my fav :D It has pretty fun eps and of course features a focus episode on one of the best non-Belcher dynamic: J-ju & Zeke! Like "Yes without my Zeke" doesn't work much as a finale but it sure makes me go bonkers about my two fav boys
14. Tell us one headcanon you have!
Hm, imma do one about Zeke. He has a pretty rough life and is quite the trouble maker but he has a good heart and is the most precious thing ever so I really want him to be happy and successful later in adulthood. I like the idea of him becoming a chef and open his own restaurant (he does seem to have an okay business mind like how he sell weeds in Bob Actually pfft) and come up with the best kinda dish out there and includes burgers in the menu out of nowhere to honor Bob as the one who inspired him. Also come up with the most bizzare names for the food (with lots of puns) Probably have ones named after his grandma :D And he gives J-ju a friend discount whenever he stopped by at his restaurant before heading to the dance studio cuz they're gonna be bros till the end of their life!
15. Least favorite episode (and why)?
Probably the Beefsquatch ep. It was funny but what happened between Bob and Gene got me a bit upset more than amused. Like it didn't feel like Bob (he was less laidback back then but definitely not like this) and Gene got too irritating
Oh and Like Gene For Chocolate too. I have nothing against it and would've loved a Gene focused ep but it didn't do much for me :/, kinda bland tbh

Belcher Sibling Fankids Update:
Unfortunately, I still haven't drawn the fankids yet. I wanted to update regardless though. I added a fourth kid for my version of the Zekina family (the right amount of boys/kids is 4, forever am I right?! XD) and I almost completed the info for Louise's adopted kid. So to keep it brief, I'm going to recap the Zekina kids and give the inspiration behind their names while I provide a bit of info about Louise's adopted child. Adult Gene still doesn't have kids and I don't plan to give them any. Tina:
Daniel “Dani” Bob Belcher - 1. Daniel was the name of pilot Tina, so I thought it would be a fitting name for her first kid. 2. I also made it a headcanon that Danielle is Zeke's grandma's name so it could be more special in the lore. I'll have to find another reason if the show kills my headcanon 3. Bob is his middle name after his maternal grandfather for obvious reasons.
Jeffrey “Jeff” Griffin Belcher - 1. Jeffrey is the name of Tina's body pillow. 2. His nickname, Jeff is based on Tina's ex-ghost box boyfriend. 3. His middle name Griffin is based on Tina's favorite Boyz 4 Now band member. 4. The reason for both names is that they both had an indirect influence on leading Zeke and Tina to each other. Jeff for my headcanon "Tina and the Real Ghost" was around when Zeke realized he had a crush on Tina. Meanwhile, Griffin for the time Zeke and Leslie helped Tina and Louise get to the Boyz 4 Now concert.
Lily Cherilyn Belcher - 1. Lily is the name of Bob's late mother who Tina wanted to honor. 2. Lily is also what Louise tricked Linda into thinking they were renaming Tina (it was a horse called "Gelding the Lily" which in general I think the phrase, "gild the lily" fits Tina perfectly). 3. Cherilyn is a mix of Cheryl's and Linda's name that's not too obvious to honor both of them. 4. It's also a reference to the singer, Cher's full first name. However, that only matters because I have a story idea that Zeke tries to recreate the lost Bolognese sauce recipe from Linda's family. The pun name for Zeke's recipe recreation attempt is, "Do You Bolognese in Life After Love".
Brian “Brine” Tad Belcher - 1. Brian is an anagram for brain, stuff zombies eat. 2. Brian also almost sounds like brine which I thought it be cool to make people think of pickles. 3. The nickname "Brine" is also just me subtly roasting Tina for the time she put too much salt in the soup before Bob found out Zeke had a perfect palette. 4. Tad is a reference to the fact that he is the youngest. 5. Tad is also to honor Teddy because I see him and Zeke bonding really well (especially when he helps Zeke get his captain license in my headcanon). Also, Tina loves Teddy too so of course, she approves. 6. Tad is dated slang for "street kid" in the same way urchin is (so it helps me connect it to touch tank in an indirect way) 7. Tad is a variation of Thaddeus which in Dutch, Taco is also a variation of Thaddeus. (don't ask me, language is weird XD. I'm just happy to connect touch tank and tacos in one name). 8. I really wanted to make the initials BTB so it can also reference the abbreviation of the phrase that excites Tina, "bumper-to-bumper". Louise: Robin Susie Belcher-Stieblitz (- Fischoeder) -
Robin is two years older than Lily and the only child of Lousie through adoption. Robin is a variation of Robert which is where the name, Bob comes from. So Louise named the kid after Bob in a subtle way. However, since Robin is also the name of a bird, she sometimes calls Robin her "little chick". Her middle name, Susie which means "lily" is a way to subtly honor Bob's mother without hogging taking attention away from Lily. Susie is also a reference to "Calvin and Hobbes" as a way to foreshadow that Robin is connected to Calvin Fischoeder. Louise finds out from an old letter that Robin is the long lost grandchild (or great-grandchild, I haven't figured out the timeline yet) of Calvin Fischoeder and the woman he was only married to for a week (not sure if I want it to be Shelby Schnabel or an OC I'll have to make later but my lazy butt says Shelby atm) The greedy side of Louise is thrilled with the potential to finally get a taste of the Fischoeder wealth through Robin. However, the good person side of her throws that idea out the window once she realizes that Felix must never know that Robin is related to the late Calvin. She knows how unhinged Felix is and doesn't want to find out whether Felix would love his grand-niece with open arms (or great-grand-niece) or try to murder her on the spot to keep his spot as head of the Fischoeder wealth to himself (Calvin died at some point, not sure exactly when but definitely after Louise became an adult) Robin takes after both Lousie and Calvin in that she is a major troublemaker. Robin is often the ring leader when it comes to the daily chaos the next-generation Belcher family has to deal with.
That's all I got beyond that. I still need to figure out her family tree so I can even have an idea of what I want to do with her skin tone. I probably need to look more into the Fischoeder lore to get an idea about that. I'll love to get some help/suggestions from the Calvin Fishoeder fans on here. if you're reading, please. :3 Anyway, that's about it. Hope I'll actually draw the munchkins one of these days.

Gene Kelly... An American in Pasadena
March 13, 1978
Tumblr media
Directed by Marty Passetta ~ Written by Buz Kohan ~ Choreography by Gene Kelly
The title puns on Kelly’s 1951 film An American in Paris and where the special was taped (and where Kelly made his home) Pasadena, California.
The city of Pasadena is known for hosting the annual Rose Bowl football game and Tournament of Roses Parade. In addition, Pasadena is also home to many cultural institutions, including the Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena Symphony,  and the Ambassador Auditorium.
Tumblr media
Featuring Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra, Gloria De Haven, Kathryn Grayson, Betty Garrett, Cyd Charisse, Cindy Williams, Liza Minnelli, and Janet Leigh. Natalie Wood was scheduled to appear on the show, but had to back out at the last minute. Also in the cast is Bridget Kelly, his daughter, and specialty dancer Alex Romero.
Gene Kelly was an Oscar-winning performer, choreographer, and director who did four films with Lucille Ball between 1943 and 1967.
DuBarry Was A Lady (1943)
Thousands Cheer (1943) also with Gloria DeHaven & Kathryn Grayson
Ziegfeld Follies (1945) also with Cyd Charisse & Kathryn Grayson
A Guide For the Married Man (1967) directed by Gene Kelly
A Hollywood legend for his effortless dancing, Kelly died in 1996 at age 83.
Tumblr media
The special integrated film clips from some of Kelly’s most popular films, including Brigadoon (which inspired “Lucy Goes To Scotland”) and Singin’ in the Rain (which was performed in “The Hollywood Unemployment Follies”).
Tumblr media
In an interview about directing the special, Marty Pasetta described Kelly as a “workhorse.”
The 60-minute special was taped at Pasadena College In February 1978 and aired March 13th on CBS. It was a black-tie fundraiser for a Los Angeles Charity.
Coincidentally, the special aired on a Monday night, just like nearly all of Lucille Ball’s new programs.
Tumblr media
The special opens with exterior footage of the theatre with dancer’s dressed as in An American in Paris, as well as Jerry, the cartoon mouse Kelly danced with in Anchors Aweigh (1944) as some of the formally attired audience looks on.
Tumblr media
Since the show aired a week before St. Patrick’s Day, Kelly enters down the theatre aisle leading a bagpiper band and wearing an emerald green top hat.
Tumblr media
Lucy is discovered in the audience, shouting for Arthur Godfrey (who was not in attendance).  On March 27, 1978, Lucille Ball and Arthur Godfrey both participated in “CBS On The Air” representing Monday nights in the week-long celebration of their first five decades.
Tumblr media
On the special, Kelly and Ball recreate the Cole Porter song “Friendship” from their film Du Barry Was A Lady.
Tumblr media
In the film, however, the song was a trio with Red Skelton.
Tumblr media
Lucy strips off her skirt showing of her legs for the number.
Tumblr media
“Friendship! Friendhsip! Just the perfect blendship!”
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball also sang the song (with Vivian Vance) on her television show “I Love Lucy” in the episode “Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress” (ILL S3;E3). While the song is now closely associated with the 1934 musical Anything Goes, it was actually written for Ethel Merman and Burt Lahr to sing on Broadway in DuBarry Was a Lady (1939). Lucy played Merman’s role in the 1943 movie version of DuBarry with Red Skelton and Gene Kelly. When Lucy and Ethel perform it here, she repeats some of the same choreography she did in the film. Merman, unhappy that Lucy took her role in DuBarry and was now singing ‘her’ song on national television, insisted that “Friendship” be inserted into a 1954 TV version of Anything Goes starring Burt Lahr that she did just six months later. The song has remained in Anything Goes ever since. The song has been performed as both a duo and a trio.
Tumblr media
LUCY, THE KELLY GIRL
Tumblr media
The first time Gene Kelly shared the small screen with Lucy (as well as Desi and Cyd Charisse) was for the 30th Anniversary of MGM on “Toast of the Town” hosted by Ed Sullivan. It was aired on Valentine’s Day 1954.
Tumblr media
Lucy and Kelly next turned up on the same TV show with “Jackie Gleason's 51st Birthday Celebration” in February 1967.
Tumblr media
Gene Kelly was a presenter at the 1968 Emmy Awards where Lucille Ball won for Best Actress in a Comedy Show. It was aired on NBC.
Tumblr media
Lucy and her husband Gary were spotted in the audience in “Ol’ Blue Eyes is Back”, a 1973 Frank Sinatra special with special guest Gene Kelly. Lucille Ball did not perform or speak. The show was nominated for two Emmy Awards and was issued on DVD.
Tumblr media
In 1976, Lucille Ball and Gene Kelly were both part of a four and a half hour extravaganza celebrating 50 years of the peacock network.
Tumblr media
That same year, Lucy and Kelly were both on the dais for “The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast: Danny Thomas” another NBC outing for Lucy.
Tumblr media
Also in March 1978, the same year as “An American in Pasadena”, Lucy, Sinatra, and Kelly participated in NBC’s “A Tribute to Mr. Television Milton Berle”.
Tumblr media
Just after the turn of the year 1980, Lucille Ball and Gene Kelly are a few of the many guests of Frank Sinatra celebrating his 64th birthday and 40th year in show business. Taped at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas it aired on...NBC!
Tumblr media
In 1980, after several years of moonlighting at the peacock network, Lucille Ball finally signed a contract with NBC. To announce her change in networks, NBC produced the 90-minute special “Lucy Moves To NBC” which featured many of the NBC stars and special guests, including Gene Kelly.
Tumblr media
At a Hollywood restaurant, Lucy and Gale Gordon encounter Gene Kelly.
Tumblr media
Gloria DeHaven was also in the special in a show-within-the-show sitcom segment titled “The Music Mart” performing opposite Gene Kelly’s friend and co-star Donald O’Connor. Lucy has a cameo as Sister Hitchcock, a character named for director Alfred Hitchcock, who often did cameos in his own films.
Tumblr media
In 1985, Lucille Ball joined Cyd Charisse, Janet Leigh, and Frank Sinatra for “The Friars Club Presents a Salute to Gene Kelly” on NBC. Also in attendance was Natalie Wood, who backed out of “An American in Pasadena” as well as fellow Hollywood hoofer, Fred Astaire.
PASADENA POTPOURRI
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the 1960 film The Facts of Life, Kitty (Lucille Ball) and Larry (Bob Hope) are two friends from suburban Pasadena embarking on a flirtation.
Tumblr media
The exterior shots of the Beardsley home in the 1968 Lucille Ball / Henry Fonda film Yours, Mine & Ours is located in Pasadena, California. Coincidentally, the 2005 remake was filmed at different home in Pasadena.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and the Soap Opera” (TLS S4;E19) the gardener (a heavily disguised Lucy Carmichael) says he has a family of 97 with cousins in Pasadena, Glendale, Rodondo Beach, Cucamonga, and 'Horrywood’ (“a little suburb between Anaheim and Azusa”). Later, disguised a the little old lady, Lucy repeats the same list of cities.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and the Ex-Con” (HL S1;E15) Lucy and Wally Cox go undercover as typical little old ladies named Abigail Throckmorton and Lydia Perkins. Cox adds “of the Pasadena Perkins’.”  This played on the tremendously popular 1964 song “Little Old Lady From Pasadena” by Jan and Dean.
Tumblr media
In a 1970 episode of “Here’s Lucy,” guest star Liberace tries on his light-up jacket and says “This’ll really turn them on in Pasadena!”  He could be referring to his senior citizen female fans - the “little old ladies from Pasadena” - as the song says.
Tumblr media
The Emmy Awards were often hosted at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. In 1981, Lucille Ball was both presenter and honoree. She received a standing ovation, which moved her to tears.
Tumblr media
The action of the short-lived “Life With Lucy” takes place in South Pasadena, California. Lucy (Barker) and John Ritter performed in a play at the Pasadena Playhouse, a real-life theatre that hosted many name actors, including Charles Lane, a character actor seen on “I Love Lucy” and “The Lucy Show.” Others included Florence Bates, George Reeves (raised in Pasadena), Eve Arden, Ruth Buzzi, Max Showalter, Jamie Farr, Moroni Olsen, Robert Preston, and Eve McVeagh.

Musings of a Hair Metal Album Cover Art Junkie, Episode 3:
In the previous two installments of MOAHMACAJ, I highlighted photography. For the next couple of entries I’d like to talk about some of my favorite illustrators to create metal album covers. Ken Kelly is a name unfamiliar to even most hard rock and metal fans. Ken’s collaborations with KISS produced two of the most iconic images of late ‘70s hard rock: the covers for Destroyer and Love Gun. (I know what you're thinking, and you're right: KISS isn’t metal, hair or otherwise. But you can't deny the band’s influence, both musically and visually, on the genre.) Ken Kelly was a sword-and-sorcery fantasy artist as well as the nephew of Ellie Frazetta, wife of Frank Frazetta, who is THE sword-and-sorcery fantasy artist. Uncle Frank suggested to Ken that he try to break into horror comics and in the ‘70s Ken did covers for Creepy and Eerie magazines in addition to working with characters like Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan. Ken’s work caught the eye of Gene Simmons and the two met to come up with a concept for KISS’s seminal 1976 release, Destroyer. Despite being “an Eagles, Elton John, Bob Seger guy”, Ken attended a KISS show to gain a better understanding of the band and what they were looking for in an album cover and in his own words was “blown away”. Ken’s original concept art was rejected by the band’s label, Casablanca, for being too “violent”. In addition to the band being shown in their then-outdated Alive! costumes, the record execs felt like showing KISS leaving a destroyed city in its wake was too much, so Ken reworked the art and created what became the final cover. Now the band marched over a pile of rubble with only a smattering of flame-engulfed ruins in the background wasteland. Because that’s clearly less violent. Regardless, it’s an instantly recognizable image. KISS’s case as larger-than-life superheroes would never be better stated than on that album. “Detroit Rock City”, “God of Thunder”, “Shout It Out Loud”, “Flaming Youth”, it’s all here. Easily their best, in my opinion. And if you don’t believe me about the band’s impact, just google “Tom Morello KISS induction speech”. I dare you not to stand up and throw the horns while watching it. After Destroyer, Ken Kelly was enlisted once more (KISS Army pun) to provide artwork for the follow-up, 1977’s Love Gun. His first stab showed the band in a backstage alley with adoring women at their feet. Per Ken, the band said, “This is good, but we’re bigger than this now. We are astronomically large.” I can’t imagine anyone in the band but Gene saying that, but in 1977 he was right. Ken went back to the drawing board and created the image that was finally accepted of the band holding court among marble pillars and smoke, with a harem of catsuit-wearing women in white facepaint writhing before them. Ken’s work with the Hottest Band in the World™ would lead to projects with Manowar and Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow and eventually reuniting him with Ace Frehley to create to cover for 2014’s Space Invader.

Hey, you got any thoughts about Robert and the stairs? Because, I thought of your theory, SSW and James???
Hi! :) I mean, it’s just the best parallel, isn’t it? I am loving this, I’m not going to lie. But gosh, don’t, the moment I first saw the spoiler for someone falling down the stairs I was just like please let it be a key SSW player and now it turns out it’s actually Robert himself and I’m just… I have a lot of thoughts on this haha. Admittedly half of them result in my barely contained amusement at the great idiot, but I’ll try and think of the more rational ones right now!
So, I said with The Incident and the reveal that Robert and Aaron had taken on the roles James and Emma played at the start of this cycle. Both couples were engaged/married and starting a new life together. Robert cheated with an ex, like James with Moira. Both exes were from previous affairs/episodes of cheating, never established relationships. Both exes already had the connection of a child with Robert/James. And I feel this is a good point at which to throw it out there again that the tagline for SSW was “No return” - but both James and Robert returned to something/someone from their past and consequently set off a whole series of catastrophic events.
So what happened next? Ross found out about the cheating, both times. Ross threatened to tell Emma and Aaron. He doesn’t tell either, of course. But when the truth does finally come out and the big confrontation happens between the couples, it’s when they move into their brand new home together for that brand new life. One which James and Emma never got, but Robert and Aaron will. Because literally everything is coming full circle and that will include this.
But before James and Emma’s confrontation could happen? James fell down the stairs. While arguing with Ross about his moment with Moira. It was James falling down the stairs which enabled the whole chain of events that made up SSW to actually happen. If he hadn’t broken his leg, Emma may not have overheard any conversations between James and Ross, and James would never have been in such a vulnerable situation for Emma to be able to behave the way she did. SSW was not possible without James’s broken leg.
And now we’re coming full circle to Robert falling down the stairs… There’s mentions of this providing him with a “wake up call”, and I would say the same happened with James when he realised just what Emma was capable of. I am thinking this wake up call for Robert will be for him to stop pretending this situation isn’t happening, to take responsibility for his actions and therefore control of the situation. And control is the thing which disappeared from Robron’s plot with the fight before The Incident - this is how they get it back. And that means that potentially this fall could also be a catalyst for the chain of events which progress beyond this, just like James’s was. At least in so far as making Robert accept the baby. But we don’t yet know the extent of his injuries… How “serious” are they? (Please no head injuries, but if they want him to break his right leg like James did, I will take those parallels haha. Also, the irony and foreshadowing of Robert’s comments about Sandra…) Or maybe if we see him at the hospital, we will find something out / there will be some clue regarding potential repercussions for the baby and its paternity…
Another similarity would be in how the fall comes about each time. James fell because he was arguing with Ross, his son, about his infidelity. Robert’s fall, however this separation plays out, will come about because of “his son”, the result of his infidelity. Which brings me to who might find Robert and deliver (no, this isn't a bad pregnancy pun, honest) that wake up call…
Aaron returning home at the right moment is The Dream and I’m hoping if I say it enough times the Emmerdale universe will hear me… As a second choice, I vote Adam! For multiple reasons;
Because I’d really like more Rob/Adam interactions before he goes.
Because their plots ran concurrently and directly paralleled each other, and I would just really love it if this was a conversation where Adam speaks about being in the exact same situation as Robert with Johnny while also being a supportive friend to both Aaron and Robert…
Because imagine the parallels between the night of Robert’s breakdown and the night of The Incident… Imagine Adam going to the Mill to check on Robert and finding him, like he should have done that night… Because I’m wondering if Robert gets hammered in the pub first and they refuse to serve him any more, so he goes home, but that’s how someone knows to check on him… So if that is the case, imagine the parallels of this discussion in the pub and Adam going to the Mill…
However, this is what I want and I don’t think we’ll get either haha. So I’m actually thinking it could be Diane. I think it’s interesting that Robert’s scene was with her when he found out about the money, because he could have been with almost anyone really. And we know she and Doug are going to offer him support. So I’m thinking Diane will go and check on him. Which would tie into the SSW Theory perfectly to be honest, because a theme running throughout all of these storylines right now - and which started the SSW cycle itself, with Holly’s death and the village’s reaction to it - is that of the connection between a parent and their child, particularly the bond of mother and son:
Rebecca and the baby, obviously;
Emma and the Barton boys, who she’s terrified of losing when they find out the truth;
Laurel and Arthur, who Emma told “Mums will forgive their sons anything… Except lies…”;
Chrissie and Lachlan, which I’m convinced is leading to a big showdown for various reasons and he’s currently lying to her too about her own biological father of all things (Yes, Bob. Genes aren’t what makes you family… Premise for this entire cycle involving every single one of these storylines right now…);
Martha and Pierce;
Rhona and Leo;
Carly and Billy;
Moira and Adam, who I’m convinced are also heading for a lot of drama because I’m stuck on the idea that Moira will be having a baby in October and this will lead to the big issue-led storyline of Adam’s infertility, his being unable to handle the fact that his mum is having another child while he won’t be able to and his consequent exit…
So, if there is any weight to any of this, then it would make absolute sense to me for Diane to be the one to find Robert because she’s finally stepping up to the plate where he’s concerned and I feel like this is the perfect opening for the mother/son theme to tie into Robron’s arc of this cycle. And more than that, I’d really like for him to be found by someone who will be sympathetic and will listen, not just lecture. He needs someone to confide in and seek guidance from, not just tough love, because it’s something he rarely gets. So I’m kind of rooting for this actually.
So yeah, I have a lot of thoughts haha. I hope some of them make sense and this vaguely answers your question!? But honestly, Robert and James! I am here for all the SSW connections. :’)

The Bob's Burgers Burger Book: Real Recipes for Joke Burgers
The Bob's Burgers Burger Book: Real Recipes for Joke Burgers by Loren Bouchard and the Writers of Bob’s Burgers Universe 2016, 128 pages, 6.6 x 0.6 x 9.1 inches, Hardcover $13 Buy one on Amazon
I can’t cook.
A few years ago though, I had the semi-crushing revelation that it’s not that I don’t know much about cooking, it’s that I legitimately can’t cook. I’m terrible at it. No piece of chicken would go uncooked to a leathery dryness that couldn’t even be passed as “jerk.” No meat sauce could be made properly spiced, just prepared with the desperate hope that crushed red pepper and more tomato paste could cure anything. It was my wife that graciously brought me the knowledge that I wasn’t just not-so-great at cooking, but I legitimately cannot cook to save my life or the lives of whatever poor group I was cooking for. I thank her for coaxing out this revelation of myself (and for being an amazing cook).
I do, however, like cartoons. And the good news is that Bob’s Burgers isn’t a show about cooking, it’s a show about family and it’s quickly grown into one of the best shows on TV. Bob’s Burgers treads an amazing line between strange and sweet, highlighting the ridiculous exploits of the Belcher clan, a family of oddballs who love each other and are continually misunderstood by the rest of the world while running a small, boardwalk burger shop. Over the past few seasons each character has been fleshed out into people more real than anything you’ll find on your average lawyer or cop show. And it’s a lot funnier than most episodes of NCIS.
The show’s success has prompted a good sized following, and when one member of fandom created a Tumblr dedicated to creating or recreating the fanciful burgers listed in each episode as The Burger of the Day fans were naturally interested. The creators of the show were just as tickled and soon partnered with its creator to create this lovely book that’s perfect for any fans of the show or adventurous burgers in general. You only need to bring an appetite, some buns, and a very healthy love of puns.
The book contains Cole Bowden’s recipes for dozens of burgers, lovingly written up by creator Loren Bouchard and the writers of the show and featuring side dishes of show art and jokey asides that any fan can enjoy. The recipes run the gamut from the more ordinary (like the “Is This Your Chard? Burger” with Swish chard, caramelized onions, and creamy cheese), to the fanciful (such as the “Beets of Burden Burger” which features a dill-seasoned burger topped with a sautéed carrot and beet mix with smooth sour cream).
The recipes are fun to read and fun to make, even if my attempt to recreate the “Baby You Can Chive My Car Burger” looked more like a three car pileup than something anyone would like to eat. But that’s not the book’s fault; like Bob one must be willing to try and try again, no matter how much humiliation the Louises, Genes, Lindas, and Tinas in your life may pile upon you, like so much Sriracha mayonnaise. So next spring I’m prepared to break out the grill and spatula again and give it another go with this delightful cookbook, which I think would make a great addition to any cook’s library. The book is fun enough to read on its own, but it also may help some of us even attain the skills that only the Bob's in each of our lives have (both on the grill and in the ability to put up with a pretty crazy family and town).
So in conclusion, I’ll leave you with a bit of wisdom from the book itself that may help you along your culinary path: “Don’t have a fishmonger? Get one. Who are you going to trust to mong your fish if not a fishmonger.” Truly words that I and anyone who’s ever dressed up like a burger or written a song about zombie butts can live by.

Mandalorian, Wormholes & Two Shitties
Welcome back to another fun filled episode from those irascible Nerds we all look forward to each week. Oh, and what a show we have for you all, let me tell you. What, hurry up you say, well then. First up we have DJ giving us an update on the Marvel movies failing to impress and the arguments have continued. This week we have some delusional moron, believe me you will agree that they are a moron when you hear what they have done. Oh right, well this delusional moron says what has got to be the dumbest thing and the biggest lie in history. It sets Buck off like all the fireworks for New Year’s Eve in one go. My goodness, he really tears into this one like nothing before. If you listen in just to hear him rant about some misguided fool then you will love this one, plus you might learn a few new insults.
Next up, after he catches his breathe Buck tells us about how some scientists believe they have figured out how to identify the existence of Wormholes. That’s right we said Wormholes. Those supposed mythical sci-fi tunnels through time and space purportedly linking us to the farthest reaches of the universe? Multiverse? Dimensional gateways? Well who knows, the gravity is more then we can fathom at this time. But it is something to do with that….Ahh, almost had me there. You will have to listen in to hear what and how the physicists think they can determine whether or not a wormhole exists.
Then we move to a legendary tale for inspiration in what we have crappily dubbed “A Tale of Two Shitties!” Sorry, couldn’t resist the sloppy pun, messy though it is, haha, that just plopped out. Anyway, we look at two epically bad mistakes from two different games studios and have a laugh and cry at the stupidity and hubris involved. These tales of woe and calamity are similar but different, and for one we will cheer and hope. The other we will jeer and poke, fun of naturally. Now, since we have you so excited to know this tale of misfortune we invite ye to listen further to the tale in yonder episode.
Finishing off as always with the regular shout outs, remembrances, birthdays, and special events of interest. We also wish to invite you all to come join us at Supanova in Brisbane on Saturday 9th November. We do not have the faintest idea of which table we will be at, other than it is the TNC productions booth. So come along and say hi, join us in our game and meet the goofballs that are the Nerds. As always take care of yourselves, look out for each other and stay hydrated.

Book Revue (1946)
Book Revue (later re-issued on May 19, 1951, as Book Review) is a Looney Tunes cartoon short featuring Daffy Duck, released in 1946, with a plotline that is a mixture of the plots of 1937's Speaking of the Weather, 1938's Have You Got Any Castles? and 1941's A Coy Decoy. It is directed by Bob Clampett, written by Warren Foster and scored by Carl Stalling.
Plot The cartoon starts out in the same, pastoral "after midnight at a closed bookstore" fashion of Frank Tashlin's trio of "books coming to life" cartoons, to the strains of Moonlight Sonata; a colorized version of the storefront from A Coy Decoy can be seen. Inside, an inebriated "cuckoo bird" pops out of a cuckoo clock to announce the arrival of midnight (and signaling the "cuckoo" activities to follow) and the books come alive. The cartoon's first lampoon and pun appears, a book collection called "Complete works of Shakespeare". Shakespeare is shown in silhouette while his literally-rendered "works" are clockwork mechanisms, along with old-fashioned "stop" and "go" traffic signals, set to the "ninety years without slumbering, tick-tock, tick-tock" portion of "My Grandfather's Clock".
Cut to a book titled Young Man with a Horn; a caricature of Harry James breaks loose with a jazz trumpet obbligato similar to James' "You Made Me Love You", in which he segues into the standard, "It Had to Be You", as a striptease is about to begin on the cover of Cherokee Strip. Book covers for The Whistler and The Sea Wolf show their characters whistling and howling at the off-screen action, Shakespeare's inner workings also break apart at the sight of the action. Henry VIII (designed to resemble Charles Laughton's portrayal of him) also gets excited at the sight of the striptease until his mother on the cover of The Aldrich Family calls for him. As she starts to spank Henry, "The Voice in the Wilderness", an emaciated Frank Sinatra caricature, appears gently singing "It Had to Be You" while being pushed along by an orderly. Henry's mother, along with other female book cover characters (such as bobbysoxer versions of Little Women, Mother Goose and Whistler's Mother on the cover of "Famous Paintings"), begin swooning for "Frankie".
Immediately thereafter, a jam session begins featuring Harry James, Glenn Miller on the cover of "BRASS" (who at one point rubs his trombone slide under W.C. Fields' nose), an Indian on the cover of Drums Along the Mohawk who morphs into Gene Krupa, Benny Goodman as the "Pie-Eyed Piper" (some mice yell "Yay, Benny!"), and a green Bob Burns on the cover of the Arkansas Traveller. Annoyed by the revelry, Daffy Duck steps out of the cover of a Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies comic book (in the background is a book by "Ann Anonymous" titled The Invisible Man: A Biography of Robert Clampett) and starts rifling through a trunk (Saratoga Trunk) for clothes. Just after Gene plays some notes on the buttons lining the corpulent stomach of Hudson's Bay, Daffy dons a zoot suit coat, gloves and a curly, blonde wig, as well as what appears to be a set of fake teeth (which explains why his trademark lisp is nowhere to be heard in this film).
Daffy orders for the music to "STOP!" and the jam session screeches to a halt. Standing in front of a book called "Danny Boy" with the classic Ukrainian tune Ochi chyornye as background music and the background becoming one with legible newsprint superimposed on silhouettes of urban buildings, Daffy (effecting Danny Kaye's fake Russian accent) says "pooey!" to swing music and jazz. He then starts reminiscing about his "natife willage" with its "soft music", "why-o-leens" (violins) and the "happy peoples sitting on their balalaikas, playing their samowars" (misusing both terms) and also talks about a girl called Cucaracha, who he describes as "so round, so firm, so fully packed, so easy on the draw". Saying that "they would sing to him a little gypsy love song", Daffy breaks into his normal character and briefly sings "La Cucaracha" (including his "hoo-hoo" sounds). Daffy continues in his fake Russian accent as he sings Carolina In The Morning, inadvertently teasing the Big Bad Wolf, who at this point is still in the window of "Gran'Ma's House"; Daffy beats a hasty retreat to stage left. Meanwhile, Little Red Riding Hood, based on Margaret O'Brien, skips past Daffy and toward Gran'Ma's House. Realising the danger, Daffy puts himself between Red and the door, breaking into Danny Kaye's scat singing style to warn Red about the Wolf, including mock chewing on her leg for emphasis, not noticing the Wolf adding salt to his leg. Red runs away screaming and Daffy halfway notices the Wolf before returning to continue the biting, until Daffy realises otherwise (becoming a giant eye in a wild double take).
Daffy runs away, pursued by the wolf through Hopalong Cassidy, Uncle Tom's Cabin and the Petrified Forest. The police sergeant on the cover of the Police Gazette notices what's going on and alerts all other police officers. The Wolf ends up apprehended by the Long Arm of the Law and is placed before The Judge who declares the Wolf guilty and sentences him to Life in spite of his objections ("You can't do dis to me! I'm a citizen, see!"), though the Wolf makes his Escape soon after. Jimmy Durante, incongruously illustrating the cover of So Big, turns toward the Wolf, and his huge nose trips the Wolf, who goes sliding down Skid Row, nearly falling into Dante's Inferno. The Wolf scrambles to the top, but the Sinatra caricature reappears, held in the orderly's hands as if he were a doll. The Wolf, being in the grandma archetype, swoons and faints just as the female characters did and skids head first into the inferno.
The rest of the characters, including Daffy and Red, proceed to celebrate the Wolf's death by dancing to a swing version of Carolina in the Morning. Suddenly, the Wolf pops out of Dante's Inferno and shouts at the characters to "Stop that dancing up there! Ya sillies!", (just like Daffy had done earlier) which they do.

Lucy Helps Danny Thomas
S4;E7 ~ November 1, 1965
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis
When Mr. Mooney hires Lucy to get some important papers signed at a TV studio, she finds herself dancing on Danny Thomas's TV show instead!
Regular Cast
Lucille Ball (Lucy Carmichael), Gale Gordon (Theodore J. Mooney)
Mary Jane Croft (Mary Jane Lewis) does not appear in this episode.
Guest Cast
Tumblr media
Danny Thomas (Himself) was born Amos Muzyad Yakhoob Kairouz in 1912. His screen career began in 1947 but he was most famous for appearing on television in the long-running show “Make Room for Daddy” (1953-1964), which was shot at Desilu Studios.  When the series moved from ABC to CBS in 1957, Thomas and the cast starred in a rare TV cross-over with “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour” titled “Lucy Makes Room for Danny.”  In return, Lucy and Desi turned up on Thomas's show.  Fifteen years later, Lucy and Danny did yet another cross-over when Lucy Carter of “Here's Lucy” appeared on “Make Room for Granddaddy.”  In addition, Thomas also played an aging artist on a 1973 episode of “Here's Lucy.”  Thomas is fondly remembered for founding St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He is also father to actress Marlo Thomas. He died in 1999.
Tumblr media
Dick Patterson (Marty King) previously played himself in “Lucy and the Beauty Doctor” (S3;E24). He made his Broadway debut in David Merrick’s Vintage '60 and served as a replacement for Dick Van Dyke in the original cast of Bye Bye Birdie. He went on to appear opposite Carol Burnett in Fade Out, Fade In (1964) and his last musical was Smile (1986), a spoof of beauty pageants. Although he is billed here as playing himself, Patterson was never the host of a hidden camera show. He was in the film musicals Can’t Stop the Music (1980), Grease (1978), and Grease 2 (1982). In September 1966, Patterson and his wife Gita were seen on “Lucy Week” of the game show “Password” along with other “Lucy Show” performers. Patterson will appear in four episodes of “Here’s Lucy” - all in character roles. He died in 1999 at the age of 70.
Tumblr media
Mickey Manners (Messenger) was born Solomon Shapiro in 1925. He was a nightclub performer who was friends with Jerry Lewis and appeared in a number of his films. He will make one appearance on “Here's Lucy” in 1969.
Tumblr media
Miriam Nelson (Miriam / choreographer, above left) made her Broadway debut in 1938. She eventually became a Hollywood dancer and choreographer and married fellow dancer Gene Nelson. She acted as choreographer for this episode as well as “Lucy in the Music World” (S4;E3) and “Lucy and the Golden Greek” (S4;E2).
Larri Thomas (Sally, above right) was a dancer and actress who had appeared in the stage to screen musical transfers of Guys and Dolls (1955), The Pajama Game (1955), South Pacific (1958) and The Music Man (1962). She played 'Miss Hairdo' in “Lucy Wants a Career,” a 1959 episode of “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour.”
The character is never addressed by name in the dialogue.
Tumblr media
Sid Gould (Elevator Operator) made more than 45 appearances on “The Lucy Show,” all as background characters. He also did 40 episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” Gould (born Sydney Greenfader) was Lucille Ball’s cousin by marriage to Gary Morton. Gould was married to Vanda Barra, who also appeared on “The Lucy Show” starting in 1967, as well as on “Here’s Lucy.”
Four other uncredited female dancers are part of the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The date this episode first aired (November 1, 1965) “The Lucy Show” was followed by an episode of “The Andy Griffith Show” (which was filmed at Desilu Studios) featured Eddie Quillan and Herb Vigran, who were seen on the previous week's “Lucy Show,” “Lucy and the Countess Have a Horse Guest” (S4;E6).
At the beginning of this episode, Mr. Mooney hires Lucy as a part-time secretary. Mr. Mooney pays Lucy $14 a day.  In a few weeks, he will hire her full time.  This is the relationship that Lucy will have with Mr. Mooney (as well as with Harrison J. Carter on “Here's Lucy”) for the remainder of their screen careers.
Tumblr media
Citing her qualifications, Lucy says she was private secretary for Mr. Miller, president of Pop Records, for a whole week.  This is a reference to “Lucy in the Music World” (S4;E3) where Lou Krugman played Miller and Mel Torme appeared as Mel Tinker.
Tumblr media
Lucy is sent by Mr. Mooney to the TV studio where they are rehearsing “The Danny Thomas Show.”  Although this is not a real TV program, Thomas did host “The Danny Thomas Hour” for 22 episodes in 1967.
Tumblr media
The TV studio hallway has large black and white framed photos of TV stars: Lassie, Andy Griffith, and Jim Neighbors. In 1963, Danny Thomas served as Executive Producer for “The Andy Griffith Show,” which was shot on the Desilu backlot as was “Gomer Pyle: USMC” starring Jim Neighbors. Both were spin-offs of his show. “Lassie” aired on CBS from 1954 to 1971.
Tumblr media
Lucy says that back in Danfield she played the lead in a play once – outside in the summer time. This means it wasn't Cleopatra, which was indoors.
During rehearsals, Danny Thomas speaks to the unseen piano accompanist: “Wilbur? Shall we hatch it?” He is making a pun on the name of “The Lucy Show” composer Wilbur Hatch who is probably playing the piano off screen.
Tumblr media
“Broadway Melody” was written by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed for the 1929 musical film of the same name (above). It was the first sound picture to win an Oscar.
Tumblr media
Like Lucy's frequent co-star Bob Hope, Danny Thomas also makes jokes about his nose.
Tumblr media
Lucy says she loves the way Danny Thomas says “And away we go!” which is actually Jackie Gleason's famous catch phrase. Gleason will make a wordless cameo appearance on “Here's Lucy.”
Tumblr media
The episode ends without knowing if Lucy ever got the important bank papers signed by the (never seen) Mr. Katz or whether she is fired, as Mr. Mooney promised she would be, for failing to get them signed and returned by 3pm.
Callbacks!
Tumblr media
Lucy attempting to come down a staircase wearing an extremely heavy headdress is recycled directly from the “I Love Lucy” episode “Lucy Gets into Pictures” (ILL S4;E18). Lucy repeats some of the same dialogue and comic business she did in 1955.
Tumblr media
Lucy Ricardo also messed up a chorus line of experienced dancers in “The Diet” (ILL S1;E3).
Blooper Alerts!
Tumblr media
Mr. Mooney's office will change constantly over the next few months, getting larger and more luxurious each week until its layout is frozen in the next season.
Tumblr media
Lucy tells Danny Thomas that this is the first show she's ever been in. She apparently has forgotten that she appeared as a singer on “Wing Ding” in “Lucy in the Music World” (S4;E3).
