There are two options and both of them are equally funny. Jon Favreau just let the entire internet call that man Din as his given name and didn’t say a goddamned thing until the end of the third season, casually blowing years of assumed knowledge into absolute shreds, that he waited three full fucking years to drop that bomb despite that his finger was on the trigger the entire time. Or. He random woke up one morning halfway into writing the third season and said to himself, “You know what would be really, really funny to do to the entire internet?” and chose the violence in his heart. I respect both options, Favreau, my hat’s off to you!

WAIT A GOSH DARN LONG TIME AGO GALAXY FAR AWAY FREAKING MINUTE—
You’re telling me Jon and Dave REDEEMED JAR JAR BINKS by making his actor the JEDI WHO SAVED FAN FAVORITE CUDDLE FORCE USER GROGU?!
What an honor. Welcome back to Star Wars canon, sir and may I say for the record SOME OF US ALWAYS LOVED JAR JAR.

Damn it feels good to be a Rebels fan.
Damn it hurts to be a Bad Batch fan.

Anyway, this is why I stopped listening to creator interviews outside of Lucas, the screaming madness is never worth it. “Grogu was with Luke for two years” how in the fuck do you think that was at all conveyed in the episode because buddy let me tell you, it fucking wasn’t. None of these interviews are improving my life in any way, why am I doing this to myself, no hypothetically logical timeline is worth this.

After all the (undeserved) vitriol they've received for their roles in the prequel trilogy, it's nothing short of inspiring to see what these two have done, not to mention Filoni and Favreau for giving them the opportunity.
