This is sorta how I imagine Orel and his family in the future post-ending:
(Incoherent rambling warning)
(gif to make it less depressing)
Tumblr media
As Orel gets older and he ends up having his own family and is able to make his own choices, he treats Clay differently. He still follows the "Honor thy father and mother" commandment in a way but other than that he wants nothing to do with him.
He provides support for Clay to get treated in old age, but rarely a visit in the hospital. He still writes/calls his father but will not let his wife and especially his children near him. Shapey (and Block) also follow his sentiment as they get older and have families of their own.
-------
He's more in touch with Bloberta (she divorced Clay around the time Orel got married). Post-divorce, she's traveled all over the country from and sends postcards/gifts to her kids and grandkids. She has not visited Statesota nor been there in person for her grandkids since their baptisms.
----------
Shapey and Block are pretty much attached to the hip and got taken care of by Orel and everyone who was not Clay and Blobbe. Through a fuckton of experience they learned to mature and have an (unexpectedly) better upbringing than Orel had with Clay and Blobbe. Unlike Orel who chooses to stay in Moralton, the two end up moving away. Theyre still very close with Orel and Christina and visit during the holidays and when they can.
---------
I could go on about the rest of the characters but this is just what I have in mind atm. If u wanna hear more you can either tag or comment ill start cooking

shapey and blockey deserve better they're not annoying they're neglected by both families and they scream and cry as much as they do because that's the only way they get SOME SORT of attention from anyone. Idk thats sad as fuck and no one ever talks about it.
