Alexsandr: Alastor's character, both Canon and fanon, has revitalized my love for older Jazz, pop, and swing music.
It's quite refreshing, honestly. So I think I'll share some of my favorites.
La Vie En Rose, a classic that everyone knows.
What Is This Thing Called Love, one of my favourites from Billie Holiday.
Bei Mir Bist Du Schon is a splendid one.
Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive is one of my absolute favorites.
A favourite of not just mine but also a couple past pilots is Nat King Cole. L-O-V-E being probably the most favourite. He's done so many marvelous ones.
Sh-Boom by The Chords is magnificent.
Mmm absolutely anything and everything from Louis Armstrong. His trumpet playing is just as impressive as his vocals.
---
Here are a couple honorable mentions that are much more recent creations that still reflect the music from back then:
-Where Is Your Heart At by Jamie Cullum
-The Villian I Appear To Be by Connor Spiotto & Molly Pease

Album Review: Billy Cullum - Whatever Happened Next
Whatever Happened Next is the second album release from London-born queer pop artist and actor Billy Cullum. An autobiographical story that journeys from his early years to present day, it’s a raw, vulnerable collection that explores themes of relationships, sexuality, mental health and identity. ------------------------------
As threatened earlier, in my Jingle Hell post, here is another one of my ‘supercut’ compilations - in this case, the splicing together of segments from various interpretations of the Nutcracker Suite.  But I think this one is much more listenable than Jingle Hell, if only because the Nutcracker has several different sections, all of which are much more musically interesting than endless repetitions of “DUH-duh-duh, DUH-duh-duh…” .
I want to particularly call your attention to the segments played by the Classical Jazz Quartet, which consisted of four top-notch jazz musicians: Kenny Barron on piano, Stefon Harris on vibes and marimba, Ron Carter on bass and Lewis Nash on drums.  The arrangements and playing are very much in the style of the Modern Jazz Quartet and the whole album (Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, later reissued as The Classical Jazz Quartet Play Tchaikovsky) is quite lovely.
In addition, you get to hear several other jazz arrangements, plus new-age, acoustic guitar, klezmer, rock and even toy instruments, along with the uniquely irreverent approach by Spike Jones and His City Slickers.
The cover art was repurposed from some corporate promotional disc having nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas.

RENTHEADS AND THEATRE LOVERS...
...this post is for you
So as you may know, Rent did a 20th anniversary tour two years ago. There was an American version and the UK version. Now I saw the UK version and it was THE best. No arguments.
Now I’m pretty sure the UK cast of Rent20 recorded an album and the producer Bruce Guthrie wants to release it, or at least gives us a little taster from it if, and only if, we can get the RENTOnStage twitter account to 10,000 followers.
So I need your help.
I’ve already been campaigning on twitter and just recently a member of the cast has announced that she wants to set up a RENT cast reunion if she can get her post to 500 likes. She’s only 19 likes away.
Now here comes your part. If you would be so kind as to click on the links below and follow, retweet and like I’d be so grateful. With your help we can all have  a little bit more musical theatre in our lives and RENT might even receive a transfer to the Westend. The cast are 100% up for it and so am i so here we go:
Hit this link - https://twitter.com/RENTonstage?lang=en-gb - and click FOLLOW
Hit this link - https://twitter.com/ShanayOfficial/status/978180090281459712 - and click LIKE and RETWEET
It’s all up to you now.

Billy Cullum Releases Single “Kiss Away”
Tumblr media
London based artist and actor Billy Cullum has released a new single called “Kiss Away”.
“Kiss Away” is about stepping into that relationship with all the fizziness, fear and feelings in-between. It marks the first time I openly celebrate queer love in my lyrics. I love that the first line is "The boy is mine..." You don't hear same sex declarations of love often enough in pop music...we need more of it!
Stream/Download “Kiss Away” here or listen below!
