note: don’t stress about me finding spoilers on your page I will either 1. Simply not read it or 2. Go ✨woah ✨ someday I’ll understand who/what/where that is.
Hi hi! o/
Made this blog because all my friends quit before level 30 I wanted a place to dump all my silly little doodles and screenshots. though I also want to read all your stories and tell a few of my own!
Most of my posts will be self-indulgent WoL (especially wolmeric and wolchefant ) nonsense; fic, doodles, screenshots. The usual. I'm happy to interact with new people and be enthusiastic about your ocs.
Let's be friends and brain rot together! :D

Alright, jokes about my own predictability and the flat circle that is time aside, here are my thoughts about this last stretch of Shadowbringers.
I've been informed that these ancient beings have been dubbed "ween woons" by the fandom and I... genuinely, unironically, wholeheartedly love it. I'd just been calling them the Mr. Burns Aliens, but no, they're ween woons. They go ween woon with their creepy lanky swaying and they say ween woon with their haunting vocalizations.
It's pokemon rules, THAT'S a ween woon
Tumblr media
In fact, that particular ween woon, uhhhhhh, is a.) self aware and b.) recognized my character.
I'd already figured out that Ardbert was likely your character's reflection here in the First, you both being shards of the same soul. Fits in with my theory that the echo in Warriors of Light is just, like, people who swore themselves to Hydalen the way Ascians did to Zodiark. Also, Ardbert looks identical to John Final Fantasy from all the cinematics and shit (which I did finally watch, to no one's surprise, I like the Heavensward one best), so yeah, that helped solidify that theory. Nice to have it confirmed.
This ween woon called Talia his "new old friend," and also described themself as "close friends" with Emet Selch, and Emet then ALSO recognized Talia once Ardbert did the fusion-ha dance to help stabilize her, with a "No... it CAN'T be," kind of shock to the recognition. So that's got some potential to be juicy "We were friends in another life" drama, peel it and feed it to me like GRAPES, I love it. ESPECIALLY if my theory is correct and that your old soul was one of the ancients who disagreed with the plan to sacrifice 3/4 of the population to Zodiark.
Also, yeah, it makes sense that the Ascians' plans will be to sacrifice everyone who survives 6 more fucking Calamities and trade that life to restore the ancients they lost. Otherwise, there would be people like Zaris, who think that they should go along with the Ascian's plans and allow the rejoinings to occur to become stronger themselves.
I also love the implication that their calamity, their "Final Days" was uh, just their own power to manifest their thoughts into reality turned foul. They didn't seem to have much reverence for individuality, to the point they wear cloaks and masks and share everything with everyone, spending days at a time discussing topics. They're beings of thought, not action. So if one of them, god forbid, has depression, and starts Thinking The Morbid Thoughts as any being with awareness is prone to do, that's gonna spread like... well, fire.
It is VERY interesting to me that Emet was earnest in his assertions that he wanted to see what would happen with the Scions and the WoL in particular because he is, I think, just looking to REST. He's lived "a thousand-thousand lives" and continually found humanity (for want of a better word) wanting. He does not feel like he can entrust the world and whatever disaster befell it to the hands of beings so flawed and myopic. That's why he needs the Exarch to go back in time and try to undo this MESS that is the world's shattering, because he doesn't think anyone but his people are up to the task of securing their legacy, of protecting the world. The people whom he mourns so freshly after what must be tens of thousands of years that he creates a city of shades just to feel the hollow familiarity of it. He straight up asks, "You think yourselves our equals? You think yourselves worthy to be stewards of this star? You think if you were threatened with a crisis like THIS that half your people would gladly sacrifice themselves to save the other?"
I'm really hoping it all comes back to Alphinaud's revelation back in Heavensward; no cause is ever worth sacrificing the people we love. We fight to SAVE them. Maybe we fail, maybe we lose, but at no point along the journey does forsaking the person beside you become an acceptable path forward. The good of the whole is worth nothing if it does not still value and treasure the good of the one. That's the mission statement. That's the thesis.

Ship questions: 30, 31, 32!
30.is there any “unconventional” relationship you play, or you would like to?
This one stumped me because I honestly can't think of any that I would like to play or have written for. I am pretty open to ships aside from the ones that are a big no. I don't want to state them here but if it makes me uncomfortable then it's huge no from me. But other then that as long as someone talks to me we could work on a ship only if I am comfortable writing it though.
31.do you have a favorite memory when it comes to rping a ship?
I know I gush about them a ton but a lot of ships I have with @diademreigned are important to me. We have so many that both of us have spent so much time pouring love into. Our first one was Sokai and Soriku. This is when both of us were mainly writing on twitter but started writing on here too. I still have the pirate thread for Sora and Kairi saved for when we both have motivation to continue that one. Currently the ships we are focusing on the most are Stella x G'raha, G'raha x Data and we did think about having au for Stella x Data but that we need talk more about.
Anyway, I can't pick just one memory with them because honestly we gush about our babies a lot. I just..I am so appreciative that Artemis takes the time to write any ships with me..Stella x G'raha are such a comfort ship for me now because of writing with them. I just adore when you can talk with writing partner about your ships. The amount of ideas we have for these ones are a lot, it's even with them that I started writing my Wol. It really helped me get a sense of the voice actor I would have for her too. Which if anyone is interested the actress I chose for my Warrior of Light is Jo Wyatt, who some might know as the voice actress for Female Hawke from Dragon Age series.
33.do you have a least favorite memory when it comes to rping a ship?
There is one memory I can think of right away, I won't be mentioning names but this was a time that really stressed me out. I had a few ships with my best friend. I enjoyed making edits and content for them. It was something that made me very happy yet some people thought I was trying rub in their faces or making it some competition. I am just going say right now that I am not competing with rping at all. I make content for things that bring me joy because honestly that is something that makes my day.
Anyway, long story short I was accused of this multiple times despite there being no truth behind what they were accusing me of. Now, I am a very patient person. Try and be there for people when I can but when someone many times goes out of their way to try and make me the bad guy that's when I stop being nice. I don't fight back, I just cut them out of my life. I will not put up with this kind of behavior again. I honestly don't know why I stayed as long as I did when I was treated badly. Overall, just don't accuse someone of competing with you simply because they also are shipping with same writer. Now if you are getting jealous because they are giving attention to that person too that's then the time you need take a step back and realize that others have the right to have a ship with that person too.
Some people there also just made me feel highly unwelcomed in that community. I would hear that they were vague posting about me and it's something I have had done towards me many times. Just..don't assume things about a person. Actually talk to them like an adult. I know most of us are here create stories.

Roehgeim as a Recruitable NPC
Tumblr media
Roehgeim | Sandrine | Sonje | Amlodi | Mellow
Name: Storm Captain Roehgeim Swozalyrwyn Alternate Name or Alias?: Roehgeim of the Mythril Heart (epithet) Race & Job: Sea Wolf Roegadyn, Warrior Nickname: Roeh Default Tarot Card: Knight of Wands
Do they have the Echo? If so, how did they discover it?: Yes, discovered years ago when on a mission fighting sahagin - the rest of her unit was tempered aside from her. Roeh’s echo doesn’t provide insight into others’ pasts, but instead gives her a sense of people’s motives. basically, she’s a lie detector.
How/where does the WoL meet them?: If the WoL takes up warrior as a job, she is one of the npcs that teaches the discipline alongside Curious Gorge. Otherwise, she will be one of the Maelstrom soldiers working to fight Leviathan during 2.2 - specifically assigned for getting up close and personal due to her immunity to tempering.
How are they recruited into the Scions?: Roehgeim can only be brought along on select missions as a temporary member - her loyalty to Limsa Lominsa makes her a poor scion candidate, but she is often involved with their business regardless (either as a Maelstrom liaison, as an echo-bearer, or just to hang out)
Romanceable?: Yes, poly romance only (she will not enter a monogamous relationship and you will lose favour for suggesting it)
Where they are in the open world:
Maelstrom Headquarters, on the clock
Hidden Falls, training with Curious Gorge and Dorgono
Drinking at the Drowning Wench
In Outer La Noscea with the 789th Order
In Western La Noscea talking to the sahagin of Novv’s clutch
(Heavensward only) In Tailfeather
Can also be found between patches fishing in various places.
Default saying: (when you want to talk to them in open world, how do they respond?)
(At Maelstrom HQ) “’Ey! ‘d love ter chat right now, but they got me runnin’ flat out lately.”
(At Hidden Falls) “[WoL]! Come t’challenge Eorzea’s greatest warrior today? Heh, these two’re bout t’fight me on that one, ev’n though’m right.”
(At the Drowning Wench) “[WoL], come’n join me fer a drink! Thanny dogged me again, n’ it sucks arse t’drink alone!”
(When fishing) “What’s better’n this? Jus’ a quiet place wit’ nothin’ but th’ sound of th’ water ‘n yer ears.”
What do they typically do off-screen?: If she’s not doing work for the Maelstrom, she’s either fishing, or on holiday in Tailfeather or Kugane.
Things they Generally Approve of:
honesty
giving it a red hot go
fishing and talking to her about fishing
offering to spar
partying hard and having fun
flirting
mutual friendly teasing
Things they Generally Disapprove of:
trying to lie
academic jargon
referring to tribe races (kobold, sahagin, etc) in a derogatory manner
telling her to do her paperwork
being taken to cold climates (with the exception of Tailfeather)
anyone that says fishing sucks
admonishing her for her lifestyle
Are they in a Grand Company? Which one?: She is a Maelstrom Storm Captain.
Friends:
Flaming Orchid (scion, wife)
Skaetswys (lover)
Curious Gorge (lover)
Dorgono (lover)
Marcechamp (lover)
Thancred
Broken Mountain
Wheiskaet
Solkwyb
Vath Deftarm
Gi Gu
Novv
Lorens
Mellow Autumn
A host of other NPCs tbh this list would start getting too long
Small side mission(s):
Roehgeim is a mainstay of the Warrior questline (as written here)
She also is present during the Kobold and Sahagin quests as a Maelstrom Liaison, and the Vath quests just because she was there
She’s a member of the fisher’s guild as well
She’ll offer small missions from Maelstrom Command “if yer bored”
There is an extensive fetch questline during Shadowbringers where Roehgeim is left bedridden after she runs out of painkilling elixirs normally produced by her wife, Flaming Orchid, who was transported to the first. As the only one that can go to the first and contact Flaming, it will fall to WoL to get the recipe (and gather the ingredients, inevitably)
Potential tarot card changes:
During Shadowbringers side questline: Ten of Wands
If romanced by the WoL: King of Wands
Template from here!!

WoL as an NPC!
Tumblr media
Name: Eisha Pantera
Alternate Name or Alias?: Spirit Keeper
Race & Job: Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te / A SMN/AST mix
Nickname: She will most likely correct anyone who tries unless they are extremely close to one another
Default Tarot Card: The Star
Do they have the Echo? If so, how did they discover it?: She does. She discovered it slowly, piece by piece. She learned she was able to see/commune with spirits (typically little wisps) and began to use them in combat and augment her abilities. She was subsequently banished from her Clan after that discovery.
How/where does the WoL meet them?: She sees them pass through to Forgotten Oasis, and no one is just "merely passing through" so she follows them to Little Ala Mhigo. The WoL will notice her following and ask what she wants. From there, Eisha will explain who she is and offer to lend a hand due to the interesting nature of the WoL (another person with an echo? How could she pass that up?)
How are they recruited into the Scions?:  Minfilia notes her ability may prove useful, and since Eisha is curious about the Echo, she accepts the offer to help to the best of her ability. The WoL just has to ask, really.
Romanceable?: Yes, and with any gender/race, though her personal side quest must be completed & executed correctly to further that relationship. If she is not romanced during Heavensward she will begin courting Lord Haurchefant, and grow hardened by the experience making all further attempts difficult to achieve.
Where they are in the open world:
(As a Scion): Outside Mor Dhona, overlooking Lake Silvertear
(As a NPC): Ul'Dah, Forgotten Oasis
Default saying: (when you want to talk to them in open world, how do they respond?)
(As a Scion): "Hmm? I hope you weren't waiting long, I was lost in thought… what would you ask of me?"
(As a NPC): "Do you, too, sense the change in the air?"
What do they typically do off-screen?: She is almost strictly awake during the evening hours unless she has to otherwise, so her nighttime activities vary - she is usually out collecting things. Things she's heard other people want/need. Sometimes she's talking to spirits who've lost their way.
Things they Generally Approve of:
Second chances
Helping strangers/the less fortunate
The Slyphs (though she can rarely visit them due to banishment)
Things they Generally Disapprove of:
Cruelty
Power-seeking individuals
Voidsent (in any matter/shape/form)
Are they in a Grand Company? Which one?: She joins the Immortal Flames if she becomes a Scion, specifically because she feels safe enough to do so.
Friends:
Within the Scions: Y'shtola, Urianger, Noraxia (
Outside the Scions: U'odh (lets her stay within the Forgotten Oasis), Rowena, Cid
Tumblr media
Small side mission(s):
Fetch quests: She'll often ask you to bring messages to and from the Slyphs, and the other beast tribes as well as gifts!
Personal quest: This quest must be done to romance her. She will ask the WoL if they can do her a favor - explaining that she was banished from the Twelveswood and her clan but left a spirit guide to watch over her them. She wishes for them to go and see how they fare - are they alive? Are they doing okay? But she asks you do not mention her. She tells the WoL that if all is well, the spirit guide can return to the Aetherial Sea from which it was summoned, the WoL just has to present the summoning stone. When the WoL does encounter her clan, there are some pretty tricky dialogue choices. They must not mention Eisha or the Spirit to any members, lest they either a) fight the WoL or b) demand the spirit be destroyed. If either the spirit or her clan are killed, she will break up with the WoL (if applicable) and become hardened to the world. If the clan AND spirit are killed, Eisha will leave the Scions completely.
Potential tarot card changes:
If accepted into the Scions: Temperance
If romanced by the WoL: Ace of Cups
If not recruited/kept as an adventurer: The Moon
[This was really fun to do and I encourage anyone who hasn't done this yet to do so because I had great fun reading everyone else's! ^^]

this post is about ffxiv oc lore, not any well-known mythological figures. thank you for your understanding.
Been thinkin' about Theseus lately.
(Theseus is my Azem. If you don't know what that means: don't worry about it! these sorts of posts are as much to vacate my own brainspace as communicate ideas to others. you know how it is.)
((See, twitter didn't allow me the space to post these sorts of disclaimers, which really was a blessing. kept me on point. Hardly a paragraph in and I'm already digressing. not that that's a problem per se, just. different.
anyway.))
I love the way ffxiv plays with the theme of... mirrors, reflections- foils, that's the word- the three-body problem of being You And No-One Else, The Masks You Wear, and A Bit Of Everyone Who's Ever Touched Your Life all at once. (Millennia and Tataru, I realized just some few days ago, is itself a mirror of Ardbert and Lamitt, which is a fun joke for my brain to play on itself imo.) So how do I take my WoL (Millennia) and refract her through a funhouse mirror to reach my Azem (Theseus)?
Theseus has remained in the semi-fluid state a narrative device tends to take when the internally-understood path from A to B is nonlinear or otherwise opaque, but I've made recent progress by working backwards.
Personality-wise, I've always enjoyed taking canon depictions and extrapolating them far beyond what anyone involved might've reasonably intended (ask me about Luigi's Persona sometime), so how do I rationalize Millennia as the type of Silent Protagonist depicted in a way that makes sense was a fun puzzle to chip away at. (She's severely traumatized and dissociating due to post-calamity events for most of ARR, and only starts to recover after successfully killing a god or two makes her go, hang on a minute, shouldn't I actually be dead by now? Y'know, as ya do.)
I describe his style of speech as eloquent minimalism, the idea being to pack as much meaning as densely as possible for maximum impact; deliberate, measured, and a little bit like poetry:
"How have you been?"
You are a friend who I trust with knowledge that could otherwise shake public confidence in The Warrior of Light (TM) if shared freely. This last adventure nearly killed me, but even more so than usual, in a way that even I was worried I might not survive. There is a tale here, and I want you to stop and listen fully and without distraction. How do I convey all that as minimally as possible?
"Mortal."
So, how to rebuild that in a way that is-and-is-not the same, reflecting the attitudes and society of the Ancients?
Efficient brutalism.
"How have you been?"
You are a confidant who I trust with knowledge that could otherwise shake public confidence in The Seat of Azem (TM) if shared freely. This last adventure nearly killed me, but even more so than usual, in a way that even I was worried I might not survive. There is a tale here, but it has ended, and there's no need to recount it. How do I convey all that as efficiently as possible?
"Dead."
Millennia is the silent protagonist that thinks carefully about the meaning behind everything she says- and doesn't say; posture, gesture, expression, and a variety of hums and grunts can all convey in moments what would take a wordsmith minutes. Theseus, in contrast, is the silent protagonist who sees no need for small talk or pleasantry; they rarely even blink, let alone smile or frown or wave.
But the double-edge of being quiet is it leaves a lot of room for others to speak for you. Because they're both public figures, the public decides for them that they're stoic or cool or haughty or wise or what-have-you. So it goes.
For combat, I previously posited Theseus could wield a Gun or Keyblade or Keygunblade, and while those're great as jokes, they don't necessarily make for a great parallel. Millennia herself started out as a Warrior, but possessed only middling physical prowess; to compensate, he relied on clever tactics and psychological warfare to cow his enemies and strike unexpectedly. These days, she has a full suite of esoteric combat styles at her disposal, and relishes the opportunity to accumulate more.
So, a collection of varied combat styles, emphasis on unconventional tactics over raw power, and maybe a connection to Warrior.
It's Blue Mage. No wait come back hear me out on this one
It's not literally Blue Mage; rather than cast the same powers as their foes, Theseus studies how beasts and creatures fight, and adapts those combat techniques for personal use. A martial rather than magical art, similar to Monk or Ninja, coupled with the visceral terror of an unblinking robed cryptid scuttling menacingly towards you at coeurl speeds. "so what's the connection to Warrior" Inner beast, outer beast. Funhouse mirrors, innit.
And because it's Ancient and because I'm me: someone who studies the ways of war of living things is, of course, a Biologist.
The ultimate and final measure of any Azem, then, is "How bad can they clown on Emet-Selch?"
Imagine they are sparring. Emet has taken one look at this upstart wiry gangler and decided there's no possible way they could be an appropriate heir to the Seat of Azem. The job is difficult and dangerous and this Elezen-before-Elezen simply does not have what it takes. Theseus just knows they've been assigned a task to their quest log, and doesn't give it any more thought than that. So they are sparring.
Emet asks how they fight and they say only "Biologist." Emet clarifies, not your vocation, not your profession, your combat style. They drop to all fours and, as if the phone they aren't communicating over had a bad connection, repeats "Biologist," before going zero to sixty on the old man.
Later in the fight, Emet starts spouting some grand monologue about true power and transforms. Theseus... doesn't. Emet questions this decision, but without hesitation or consideration, Theseus simply says "I like being me," and resumes adding injury to insult.

sleeping, volcano, and crown! for any and all you feel would be fun
It's Scarlet and Mihmeira again my two lovely WoL's I have been neglecting with these kinds of things so yay it's them again
Scarlet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hmmm I've never considered her sleeping habits but I think it would take her a bit to fall asleep. She has to do one of those breathing exercises like count to x while inhaling, hold breath for y, exhale for z, repeat. Otherwise she is a pretty sound sleeper but also likes having a lot of blankets on her, as she is still very used to the Ishgardian cold, even if that isn't what she grew up with.
Tumblr media
It takes a lot to get her angry but it's very easy to irritate her, if that makes sense. She's annoyed far easier than anything, but she's good at masking it because Ishgard helped her build up an immunity to that. Scarlet will still personally fight anyone in Ishgard noble families that are assholes though.
Tumblr media
Scarlet wants to be remembered as someone who cared a lot, who had a big hard and was talented at many things. She would really just be happy to be remembered, for people years in the future to tell stories of her and want to be a great fighter just like her, or a great friend, etc.
Mihmeira
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mihmeira falls asleep SO easily. As soon as her head hits the pillow she's out and refuses to acknowledge that she snores. "I don't snore," she says, minutes after being woken up by her own snoring. She does occasionally drool but that's because she's such a sound and heavy sleeper. Also very fond of having many pillows and doesn't like having a lot of blankets on her as she just radiates warmth constantly. One leg under the sheets and one leg above them kinda tactic.
Tumblr media
Normally she doesn't get heated easily but if it's a sensitive topic then she blows up. Emet-Selch finds the buttons to push so so easily and she picks him up and shakes him by his lapels like a ragdoll, but that's because of their personal connection more than anything. Mihmeira is very defensive of Ala Mhigo, where her mother is from, and Radz-at-Han, where she was born and grew up, and where her father is from. Otherwise she's very calm and collected. Also if something she's crafting doesn't end up high quality like she wanted it to be she will get upset about it.
Tumblr media
Mihmeira wants to be remembered for her beauty, because she does think very highly of her looks and is proud of them (but she isn't vain and doesn't prioritize her looks above her other positives). She also wants to be remembered as an incredibly dancer, a great friend, and a talented crafter, her favorite fields being alchemy and weaving, two things Radz-at-Han is known for. There's also how she wants to be remembered for her cunningness, her smarts, and combat ability, showing that you can have both beauty and brawn.
Thank you!! :]

cannae fucking sleep so I'm trying to think about my less developed wolnpc ships
kozu and cid - I think in ARR kozu is just kind of a cid fanboy due to the engineering stuff and defecting from garlemald and wanting peace etc. all very admirable to kozu so he's like a living legend, and he wouldn't even attempt to approach him because he'd be too insecure and also kind of panicked about the idea of it considering how his not-quite-a-relationship went with The L'kozu. over time he's quite fond of him and works with him/the ironworks a lot and I think a fucked up insane love triangle but not unrequited with cidnero and kozu is the funniest thing on earth but I don't see it as a serious lasting ship just like. they have fun. kozu shows up for a collaborative project and they have an insane week but finish ahead of deadlines
kozu and stephanivien - fruity elf spotted. also the engineering stuff again and even though kozu wouldn't enjoy mch class as a killing thing they would've still experienced the class plot mostly intact. and I think kozu might actually use mch in SB and later for situations where it's like, yeah I do actually want to kill what I'm fighting instead of him seeking deescalation but it's really context sensitive. stuff like beasts that cant be calmed and sineaters are free game though. (realizes I've gone off track) anyway this is another ship where I'm like he'd visit the steelworks and have a little fling decently often but it's not home for him
kozu and loifa - honestly if I had more material to work with this might be one of the endgame ships for kozu I'm so depressed about job quests I don't like making stuff up about ingame characters... but they are basically narrative foils but they are so... lonely viera boys who dream of making peoples lives better and found redemption in the love of their friends rise up... the homoerotiscm of haima'ing each other... insane to me I miss him every day
kozu and x'ruhn - I have no clue I have to replay the rdm quests . he fucked that old man. x'ruhn is the one who wanders around and kozu waits to see him though
kozu and erenville - this is another one where I need more content to say anything meaningful about it. but what can I say 2 viera men momence. this one fits really well with the "we don't see each other often but when WE DO..." type of vibe I seek out for kozu
I FUCKING FORGOT <- like 5th time editing this
kozu and leofard - tl;dr he turns kozu into a tsundere. at first kozu is like seriously we're working with actual outlaw sky pirates? -_- but over time comes to admire them and their freedom and their engineering as well. and when leofard gets his ass busted to hell kozu is like "you damn idiot" but treats him personally himself. and when it's just the two of them admits his fondess for him and the wings. he doesn't push it beyond that though because he knows leo is in a vulnerable position and just leaves. but after that a switch flips in leofards brain and he starts actively trying to woo kozu and kozu puts up a front of being annoyed about it but semi secretly secretly revels in it. and then they have fun on their own etcetera but idk how often kozu could realistically visit them after mhach raids are done (<- hasnt done 2nd leg of tataru quests yet)
there's more for kozu that I haven't thought of beyond "he'd see what thats about" like the lancer guild guy. the blacksmith guy. even fucking jannequiard or whatever even though kozu learned ast from urianger and didn't do the class quests. almost anyone that's taller than him just on that basis as well (funny enough not haurchefaunt though because he gloms onto the wol/caranar enough the kozu is uninterested in getting involved). all guys also kozu is gay as fuck forever. also beatin is nothing romantic but he's like a father figure to kozu (despite kozu almost undoubtedly being older, it's more that beatin along with miounne are the first ones to make him feel truly at home in gridania) and he finds joy in his eccentricities
caranar and y'shtola - this one only occured to me when I realized the similarities between the wol eryna (who in the joint timeline is caranars wife) and her. powerful no nonsense sorceresses. I haven't thought about it much beyond going "yeah that could happen" though because to me y'shtola has soooo much wlw energy so it feels a little wrong to put her with my lizardman but they would be insane together. caranar and his dead abusive heretic ex baggage on top of y'shtola assumed dead means he would have been COMPLETELY unhinged in HW also. they just keep almost dying for each other back and forth and having mental crises about it idk if this is good for them *closes the box*
caranar and yda/lyse - this is borne of my gridania starter status but idk what to do with the idea at all tbh. I think they'd be good together though because lyse is the never give up always smiling type she could push away the gloomy clouds over caranar. NOT fix him but inspire him to be genuinely better. also after the yda/lyse reveal caranar would internally be like "oh just like kozu" and his fondness with her would increase 100% insantly despite him being testy with kozu so often. actually as I'm writing this out I'm liking it more and more wtf
caranar and yugiri - *pretending auri players dont exist* hed attach to her instantly because of the "another au ra in eorzea" thing although her hiding herself would deal 1 BILLION psychic damage to him he'd never bring it up with her. this is the type of thing where I think he would just be longing from a distance for a looong time thinking it's not okay for him to get closer. but the scene by the riverside in SB... trying to go assassinate zenos together... it's so much to me. I could see him becoming devoted to her
I ALMOST FORGOT
caranar and mikoto - doesn't go anywhere imo but caranar finding someone else with future vision echo makes him feel saner and normaler instead of "LIVING PORTENT OF DOOM AND DISASTER" and so he likes her a lot and enjoys getting to talk with her even though he's not remotely the academic type. gets really protective of her though because of how important all that is to him
sorry caranar for making you a bi king but thinking about your gay ships more until now. at least he has his canon wife

i basically never post any of my work publicly because anxiety, (i just share it w/ friends) but this looked like fun and i probably won’t spontaneously combust if i just post a snippet from one of my current ffxiv wips lmao. probably.
tl;dr context required for this to make any sense at all (if you don’t play ffxiv there’s nothing i can do for you sorry lmao): in my wols’ canon, lahabrea is yeeted back out of the lifestream around the end of shadowbringers in a mortal body (w/ most of his memories) and is forced to fumble around figuring out how to be a mortal. aurelia stumbles over him during 5.4 and recognizes him by his voice, and immediately adopts him under the pretense of tutoring him in thaumaturgy (she’s excited bc here’s a chance to actually maybe make friends with an ascian this time! oh boy!). lahabrea thinks nobody knows who he is. aurelia, leovold (my other wol, not shown), thancred, and raha all absolutely know who he is. said hilarious pretense goes on for about a month - this takes place during that month.
Hephaestus was hunched over the table over a tome and notebook; his hair had long since started to escape the confines of his loose ponytail and was hanging unevenly into his face, veiling his profile. He was scrawling notes across the open face of his notebook with impressive speed – Aurelia wasn’t quite sure what he was studying, but she’d determined at a fairly quick glance some time ago that it wasn’t anything she’d assigned him. She had decided not to say anything about it.
She could hardly blame him, really – she was near-certain that most of what she’d given him to ‘study’ was largely review. She almost felt a little bad for him about it, but if this was the game he was going to insist on playing, she was going to let him play it – inconveniences and all.
Alisaie’s voice suddenly turned particularly petulant, drawing Aurelia’s attention.
“Yes, well… this argument is stupid, and—and you’re being stupid!” She accused, jabbing a finger at Alphinaud.
G’raha snorted loudly.
“Ad hominem,” Hephaestus muttered absently, in a disapproving tone that Aurelia suspected was probably his Professor Voice.
Unbelievable, she realized with amusement. He had been paying at least some degree of attention.
Alphinaud sputtered – Alisaie made an irate noise. G’raha hummed thoughtfully.
“I don’t remember what that means,” Alisaie shot back, “but—but no it isn’t!”
Hephaestus looked up sharply, his quill scratching to an abrupt stop on the page. He had a by-now-familiar look on his face that Aurelia was fairly certain meant that he hadn’t realized he’d spoken aloud.
“It means a fallacious personal attack – and yes it is!” Alphinaud argued triumphantly.
“I think,” Aurelia interceded, “that it’s time to let the disagreement go, if we’re getting to the point of ad —ad hom—” She hesitated, stumbling over the unfamiliar term.
“Ad hominem,” Alphinaud and Hephaestus corrected in unison – with very poorly disguised amusement, in Hephaestus’ case.
“Yes, that,” Aurelia agreed.
“Fine, fine,” Alisaie sighed, standing up, “I’ve got shite to do, anyroad.”
“Hug and make up, first,” Aurelia instructed.
Alisaie turned to glare at her – she merely grinned back.
“Do you even know what we were arguing about?” Alisaie questioned.
“No,” Aurelia answered blithely.
G’raha snorted again – Alphinaud cleared his throat in an attempt to hide his own snort.
“It wasn’t over anything important, you know,” Alisaie shook her head at her before glancing back over at her brother, “We’re fine?”
“Of course we are,” Alphinaud agreed.
“Right, I’m off then,” Alisaie announced, pushing in her chair and heading away.
Alphinaud’s attention shifted immediately. “Hephaestus!” He began earnestly.
Hephaestus’ quill came to a stop again – he looked up warily, “Alphinaud.”
“Do you study debate?”
“Barely,” Hephaestus lied, looking back down again.
Aurelia snickered. She knew he was full of shite: she’d heard shades in Amaurot’s Hall of Rhetoric sing his praises – he was purportedly quite good at it.
Alphinaud shot her a puzzled look, “Is something amusing?”
“No,” Aurelia grinned.
Hephaestus frowned, glancing up and studying her warily for a moment before returning his attention to his notes again.
“…Aurelia…” Alphinaud piped up again after a moment.
“Hm?” Aurelia turned her gaze back away from Hephaestus.
“…We were just arguing about food,” he told her sheepishly.
Hephaestus’ quill came to a stop yet again.
“…Oh,” Aurelia muttered.
Hephaestus gave a barely audible snort, shaking his head and resuming his work.

I've passed the first real milestone of ARR (joining a GC, getting my chocobo, fighting Ifrit), and I have a lot of thoughts so it feels like a good time to come back and reflect on the story so far and how I feel Zari is coming along as a WOL to be.
Just to clarify, I have played through alll of MSQ up until the most recent path. The last time I actually did A Realm Reborn without skipping everything and ignoring all the next however, was a long time ago. Pretty much around the time I first started playing the game. I was a Pugilist in Ul’dah.
However, probably because it has been so long, but you - just an Adventurer at this point - deal with so much so early on. You deal with so much death and corruption already. I think this is partly to do with the fact I started in Ul’dah, for sure. But already you’ve had drugs planted on your intro carriage, you get laughed at for asking help as if help is at all free in Ul’dah. Add in the refugee crisis ongoing in which people are forced to starve and sell themselves for money - and finally, all the aforementioned death you deal with.
Pretty much 5 quests into the story you drop unconscious and the Mother Crystal speaks to you, you wake up and Thancred is like “okay sleepy head” and you’re like “I found this blue crystal and had a weird dream!” and he’s just “okay” and moves on. Anyone, no matter how skilled they may be, surely would think they’re losing their mind at this point. There’s so little build up to you being “a chosen one”, you just are now, even if you - the Adventurer - just run around saying that you’re only an adventurer and nothing special. Which happens routinely. You just want to help people because you can, not because you’re special. At this point I think you’re convinced it’s all a fever dream.
Tumblr media
"What the fuck was that about?" - WOL, Probably
A little longer down the line after helping some people out, you literally stumble upon a plan by Lolorito and undo it, definitely putting you on a list but you’re either so unaware of social standing (despite everyone telling you how this is  bad) or just don’t care that you think nothing more of it. It is what it is. You were just helping someone, you’re not involved with trying to underhand the Syndicate at all. (But this moment here can so nicely wrap into the 2.x events that happen leading up until you flee to Ishgard - I can’t tell if it was intentional or just a happy accident, either way, I do enjoy the fact so early on you can see these little pieces starting to fall into place.)
You’ve dealt with 2 voidsent so far, which for most common people, would be terrifying to see. A weird, dark robed and masked man comes and mocks you a couple of times and makes you fight him because you’re getting in the way - of what, you have NO IDEA - you just are. Again, this feels like something any normal person would be a little suspect about, even if you didn’t have any ‘close’ friends to confide in about it. But you, this quiet adventurer, just take it as it is and you see it as just another guy who you need to cut down because - well just look at him, he's a bad guy, right?
You are invited to a banquet at the behest of Nanamo because you’ve helped the city out by saving her crown (we’re getting towards the level 10-15 quests here) - in which Raubahn takes you aside to, politely inform you, that this banquette is nice and all but children are starving in the streets. Nanamo WANTS to do something about it, but the people of the Syndicate are so happy getting fat from their workers back they make it almost impossible. Nice! What a lovely city!
While he recants the plight of those who lived through the Calamity, your crystal begins to glow. A familiar light, he claims, to that of the Warriors of Light who are no more. Raubahn looks upon you and see’s something that perhaps you do not - what you will become. He see’s a future we dare yet imagine because thinking that your actions might at all come down to the success or fall of our realm is terrifying, and egotistical.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raubahn believes in you. You take 10 damage.
Raubahn calls you the closest thing to a Warrior of Light when in reality, all you’ve done is a couple of fetch quests and helped out some people. But then again, that’s what a Warrior of Light is - right? You do what you can to help people, without expectations of rewards or anything like that. No, you… you just do what you think is right, or what other people think is right. What other people tell you to do.
(Thankfully he is the first person to provide some sort of insight into the blue crystal you've gained and what it may be - that you've been blessed by Hydaelyn herself, another being who believes in you more than you believe in yourself.)
Which brings me over to the third dungeon we come to. Copperbell Mines. We are told to go clear out the rampaging giants who have broken through the stone after being trapped in the Mines for 300 years! And you know what's super messed up! They used to be slaves! Papashan acknowledges that it's a little… out of taste, going to kill all the Giants but assures you that it’s the only way, and for the best. So - we do it. We go and kill them because someone told us to, when in fact they were a beastribe suffering, and something more should have been done. Papashan you're supposed to know better!
So, alright. You're an adventurer, but you're a little bit more special than your usual kind. People seem to be able to see something in you that you don't see yourself. They believe in you, and that you will go on to do good things, to become someone.
So do we keep moving to make these people proud - these people we have only just met, and spoken with very little. But they, they look at you like you're something more and you don't want to let them down?
Or do we keep moving because we think it's the right thing to do?
The answer is, it's probably both, right? So early on we start to effect peoples lives (usually for the better) and so early on we have this rippling effect on people and they're thankful for our help - as we're not like the rest. Other people wouldn't extend a hand as you do, and expect nothing in return.
We end up fighting a God, not because we want too, but because you're the only one left who can - and if you don't, so many people will die. And already, already we have dealt with so many bodies, so much death - by our own hand or just the fallout of others. We have carried them and buried them all the same. To me, at least with how Zari is developing, this is the first moment where he forgoes the self and fights for others - he fights because only HE can, and he fights so that others may yet survive.
Tumblr media
How soul crushing would it be to find out that you essentially fought for nothing?
Anyways, honestly to just kind of conclude my thoughts a little bit. I am enjoying the story again so far, however I feel like those level 0-20 Quests the pacing was just... so quick when it comes to you being Outed as a WOL-to-be and your involvement with everything. I don't recall what the exact quest changes were with 2.0, but if they did change any of the early quests (or removed any) I think it's thrown the pacing off just a little bit too much. But that's just my personal preference. I enjoy a bit of slow burn and a bit of mystery, which I know comes far later in the game but early on it feels important too.
I dislike how almost instantly it's "You have a gift and you remind me of the Warrior's of Light!" and there's not a little more build up and trust gained there. That being said. It's not bad, and I don't dislike it. I just wish the pacing was a little better - regardless of whether this is because of the ARR Quest changes or this is how it always was!
Tumblr media
Anyways, killed a God, got a chocobo 8.5/10 on the story so far (My issue is literally just pacing, not the context of the quests themselves. I like how "real" it feels so early on with the lasting, long term impact of the Calamity and Garlemald.
A star is also lost because fuck Alphinaud is so insufferable in ARR

Long text about my characters that make little sense I’m just coping with anxiety.
I noticed that my wol doesn’t have a single parental bone in their body but they are aunt material with the older kids and even the younger adults, including Ryne, Ali, Alphi and my ocs. Wol is not so good with small children but they are kind to them of course, they aren’t good with unpredictable people, or moogles, or sylphs, or pixies. She does like some individuals but better keep low on the tricks.
Foulques sister is wol best friend and trust them completely with their kids.
Fleurette (Foulques sister) also considers Sanson her kid because she knew him as a little kid and got attached to him and sang to him and taught him about how to be a lancer and other things when he didn’t had much of a social life for being too serious and adult like for a kid. She trusted wol to date him along with Guydelot which says a lot considering how protective she is although she knows he can do what he wants. She does try to push the thought away that wol also dates her brother and friend Estinien.
She is definitely the maternal one along with her husband who just saw her coming after years of exile with strange children and said so we have kids now? He thought they were kids of some Ishgardian father but was already loving them anyway when he learned she found them. He didn’t care, he would probably be their father even if they hadn’t gotten married. He is just that paternal and has a big heart and really loves his family. He was also kicked out of his own family since they are a proud wildwood forestborn family and he loves a duskwight and fought when they insulted her race. He never mentioned the topic to anyone.
Foulques however had some problems with a bigger family and getting along with his sister after years apart because of shame and trust issues, she was a role model and always told him to do the right thing and that because of their race they had to act better and he thought she would judge him for his crimes, she didn’t, she knows he regrets and she was just happy he was safe, she just wants the distance between them gone and for him to feel home but he takes awhile to heal.
Ironically while Fleurette sees Sanson as one of the kids he also ends up being best friends and brother to her son Monoa, they were captives together for a time and helped each other escape, Sanson ends up being an older brother figure to him. At first Guydelot is a little awkward with the new friend since Monoa was aggressive towards him since right before Sanson was captured Guydelot fought him unfairly to his great regret, while Sanson forgave him and they were together Monoa was protective. Guydelot ends up proving he is a good person with nothing but good intentions towards Sanson and loves him so he is allowed to approach Sanson on Monoa terms who decided he was in charge of Sanson safety. Sanson tried to argue but was strangely happy about that protectiveness and how much Guydelot had to prove that yes he deserves Sanson please let me date my boyfriend.
Monoa does have a sister too who was jealous of the attention Sanson got as a new brother but finally got to know him and saw how he tried to get both siblings to spend time together and spied how lonely Sanson was forcing himself to be because he was having trouble coping with what happened to him and pushing people away and even putting himself in danger until she had enough of it and told Sanson to stop acting like a fool and avoid everyone who obviously wanted him close and while she has no tact and is terrible at dealing with emotions she got a reaction of him and accepted that other people could be close to her estranged brother and she could still get closer to him as well. They are also adopted siblings, her parents were supposed to take care of him for a time but sold him out and she went after him and never went back. She did get help by a Sharlayan Duskwight Elezen who just became family as well. He abandoned his duties out of loyalty to her because she was alone in the world getting in dangerous situations and he couldn’t accept it, he also tries to redeem himself for originally following his duty which made him use Monoa sister Noir for information and spy on Garleans for information on the Echo and Padjal gifts he possessed, he did not tell her the truth about himself out of duty and was going to get information and disappear until he saw doing so would cost her life, he was undecided for a few seconds but betrayed his duty and saved her and swore to help her for lying to her even if he was supposed to as a spy. She was completely betrayed but slowly especially after he almost died for her she forgave him. She later learns that he became exiled from Sharlayan for his acts and his family disapprove of him until up EW when politics change but even so he never goes back.
That’s just the start of the found family tale.
It’s a strange way to make a family but it worked.

Meiko is such a likable person, whether she's a WOL or not, and I've been trying to think of how to put why she is into words.
I think what it comes down to is that she aspires to treat people like people, no matter their class, race, or age. She does have plenty of instances, especially early in ARR, where she is intimidated by people she isn't confident in speaking to.
She wants to treat them like a person, but what if she's not on their same 'level'? This is the issue she has in striking up conversations easily with (or being wholly intimidated by) more educated folk like Y'shtola and Urianger. Alphinaud would have been placed into that category too, if not for the fact that he was a child. Meiko knows (or thinks she does) how to talk with a child, as she mostly raised her younger brother on her own. I'm sure there were plenty of instances where Alphinaud (in ARR) would roll his eyes at her for her mistakes or uncouth behavior, but she didn't take as much of that to heart because he was a kid. Of course kids think older adults are cringe! They think they know everything!
The moment Meiko gets clarification of 'oh they're a dork just like me', any hesitance in interacting with others is gone. Urianger asking how his new outfit looked in Shadowbringers, for instance! It just a flipped a switch in her brain that said: oh aye, he can be an idiot, too.
And idiot is not in a negative way here! It's more of a shorthand means of saying 'we're the same.' Once Meiko has enough information to take folks off of some predetermined pedastal, any formalities or polite aloofness one has with strangers goes out the window. You are a friend and that means Meiko is going to make sure you're OK. She can't be intimidated by anyone she's supposed to 'take care of', otherwise that'd get in the way of taking care of them!
And because she herself has spent so many years being easily intimidated and not speaking up when she should, Meiko makes it a goal to ensure people she cares about do not feel that way. That means pep talks, reminders to take breaks, and plenty of nonjudgmental invitations to vent. She will drag Aymeric out for a fun time at the Saucer, teach Urianger to swim, make sure Tataru never runs out of coffee (or gets a comfy place to nap when she inevitalby crashes).
A part of this is probably thanks to Meiko's brother being the first Warrior of Light. Aye, he's the Eikon Slayer and Hydaelyn's Champion, but he still was scared o'birds for nearly eight summers! Having that perspective grounds her a lot in all of her relationships, and for those who may have a larger-than-life presence or reputation, being looked at as just a normal person with normal needs and wants can be very comforting.

Going into Stormblood so dumping some WoL stuff
Her name is Faine Lothaire, she’s an Elezen
Primary job is monk
Dunno where she's from, though I’ve been considering making her from somewhere in La Noscea that got hit by Leviathan and she was one of the few survivors, and the grief made her disassociate for years or smthn
Started adventuring because she wanted the fun aspect of it. It's not so fun anymore, but she tries to keep up the same attitude
Always tries to keep smiling, especially when other people are having a hard time
Always down to fight someone
Crushing on Thancred
Used to think Alphinaud was pretentious and a little annoying, but now that's her little brother and anyone who messes with him will have to deal with her
Tataru is her favorite of the Scions
Kinda resents Minfilia. It's a combination of Faine basically always being kept on call to save Eorzea (this started really being an issue for her between ARR and HW), Minfilia saying that she wants Faine to be strong for her (but then who's strong for Faine?), and Minfilia not really defending herself? The last one's the biggest reason, Faine kinda hates the whole damsel in distress thing that's been going on and feels that if Minfilia is the leader of the Scions and has the Echo then she ought to be better at protecting herself. Faine would never say any of this, though.
Also I wrote the above before finding out what happened to Minfilia, so now Faine is kinda remorseful for how she felt towards Minfilia, but not completely
Were is not for the restraints of the game, probably would have knocked Widargelt's teeth in the next time she saw him post level 50. She's still pretty pissed at him for the whole "your life will be a sacrifice for Ala Migho" thing
Also were it not for the restraints of the game, she would have kicked Nero off the side of the Crystal Tower at the first chance
Would 100% fight little Midgardsormr
Haurchefant was her best friend, probably the only person she's cried in front of and even that was only once
Was absolutely terrified of Leviathan, more so than she's been of any other primal. That fight was what really set off her resentment towards Minfilia for always being called to deal with the primals. The whole thing definitely shook her up for a while
Idk what made Leviathan scarier than the other primals before it, but that anxiety was what made me consider tying her background to it
Thinks Estinien's an asshole
Pissed that she couldn't be the one to destroy Lahabrea
Has anxiety around drinks now. If she's not the one to pour it, she won’t drink it
Is kind of doubting Hydaelyn and what she (Faine) is doing now. What the Warrior of Darkness said about his home has shaken her. The idea that she might doom this world by doing her job is terrifying, but it’s not like she can just stop.
Tried to stay with Papalymo. She’s a little overconfident in her abilities (though I mean, who wouldn’t be after all the crazy shit she’s done?) and thought she could help him and maybe mitigate the consequences for him (she didn’t really know what was going to happen, but assumed it was going to kill him)
Honestly the title and role of Warrior of Light is starting to weigh her down, but she’d never willingly let anyone else know (plus she thinks it would be bad for morale if anyone did know how she felt). Sometimes she wishes she could go back to her early days of adventuring before she even met Thancred. But, knowing that she’s doing a lot of good in the moment and has saved lots of lives does help.

Just watched the Endwalker trailer.... I am super excited but also heavily thinking about the expansion, and what it will mean for Zenos as a character.
Long ass thoughts under the cut.
He’s posed as the final boss here, the big bad guy, but it made me think a lot when the game and some characters explicitly say: “Maybe Zenos isn’t even our final obstacle, the final days will be’. Which also leads me to think that Zenos is just... well, vibing and thriving in the destruction, but that he could not be the reason the final days are happening and everything is going to shit.
He sure as hell is enabling things to happen, but I don’t know if I believe that he’s the instigator and the one behind the idea. I think he’s more of the opportunist taking advantage of chaos and delirium to act his plan of the final hunt, but I think it has been made clear enough that he doesn’t exactly care about Eorzea ending or wars happening to create an intricate plan such as the one put in motion by Fandaniel, he just wants to relive the hunt with his first friend and enemy once again. (Which don’t get me started, it’s so fucking sad man, don’t make me think about it or I’ll tear up...)
This led me to think ... where will this character go? What will happen? I am VERY torn about this, mostly because SE has done an incredible job at keeping everyone guessing and surprising people everytime with the story.
Could Zenos end up being an ally? Could he be spared? Can he come to reason? I see people even mentioning that he could be a Scion... I honestly really don’t see that happening, the man is batshit insane and as much as I love him, he doesn’t give a shit about Eorzea or helping the world, and I’m sure 99% of the Scions despise him or just want to see him dead. He won’t be a Scion, that would be really out of character for everyone. (For him to be one, for everyone to accept him as such)
But I do wonder if he will end up being spared, or changing his mind. Maybe being a ‘neutral’ force? Maybe even temporarily allying with the WoL (and only with the Wol, he doesn’t care about the others) to prevent him from dying, because he doesn’t actually want his rival and friend to die. A ‘villain turned ally out of necessity’ situation with him would be cool, and would make sense if he wanted to protect the Wol temporarily from another foe, even for just ‘being the one that has to kill / defeat them’. He’s very possessive over the Wol, I feel like.
I just hope we won’t have to kill him... he’s one of my favourite characters now, so I would honestly be DEVASTATED to see him go, even if I perfectly know he would deserve it and everyone would probably be happy if he did. But I just can’t help thinking about how much I love this character, his story, what he implies, what he represents, all the things he carries with him... I feel like Endwalker will surely give us a lot of content for him, which I am excited and happy about, but I just wish we could not kill him so we get to see more.
This is where I get conflicted because my realist side tells me we already got a fake death, even if we DID kill him, and fight him with the intent to kill. He managed to escape death though, and came back. I just think it would be a bit unrealistic to have him escape death once again, and even more unrealistic having him being an ally. One could argue we already have examples of Garlean villains turned allies, with Nero, Cid and Gaius, but like... they weren’t like this.
What I love about Zenos is also what makes him unreedemable.
Zenos is mad. Zenos doesn’t give a shit about anyone, about life, death, people, slaughtering innocents, about Eorzea, hell, he doesn’t even give a crap about the world ENDING if it means he can have a final dance with his beast. And I LOVE all these unique parts about him, but I also realize those parts are what make imagining him surviving so hard, considering the circumstances.
Cid, Nero and Gaius weren’t mad with power. Sure, they all did bad things, but you don’t see them talking about how they just wanted to fight one person to feel an emotion and destroyed countries and people for that reason. The others had reasons behind their actions (as bad as those reasons could be, their actions were still guided by logic), Zenos doesn’t. Zenos is a feral animal and follows his istincts, that’s why I find it so hard to imagine him as someone who is not a villain. I would LOVE for him to be saved, to have someone give him a chance, my humane (and emphatic ass) wants someone to take a chance on him also because I feel so close to his struggle, but my realistic side says ‘Yeah, it’s not gonna happen’.
As much as I love this character and would like him not to die, I also realize he did horrible things and slaughtered innocents without even thinking about it. I went back to check on dialogues of people talking about facing him in the war, and man it’s bad. People basically describe how he wouldn’t even find enjoyement in killing people or winning wars, but how we was just ‘looking for a feeling’ even on the battlefield, while destroying people’s hopes and dreams in Doma and all Yangxia. It’s bad. It’s REAL bad. Sometimes I forget how... bad this character is.
“...I do not think there was any joy in it. Nor justice, nor morality, nor meaning. To him, the weight of one life is no different from that of a thousand.  A challenge had been issued and was accepted. But on finding us no challenge at all, his objective changed. There were tales of imperial soldiers being flayed for slaughtering families. For breaking brave men’s spirits. Only later did I come to understand why. He did not desire obedience. He desired hate… and men consumed by it.  A new battle. A new enemy. A new challenge. The hunt, I am told he called it. A hunt without end. And when all our best lay dead and broken, he left. He left, muttering that we had “bored” him. But our weapons, at least, held his interest. For he took a fallen samurai’s sword, having grown… fond of it. Since that day, he has ever wielded Far Eastern blades. He is said to be fascinated by ones with storied histories, and so soldiers who seek to to curry his favor often present those of defeated enemies as gifts.
Lyse: It’s like all a game to him. People are suffering -- dying -- and he’s collecting swords? “
But man. I don’t know what Endwalker has in store for me, for Zenos, but I sure hope maybe something can happen where he doesn’t die. I don’t know how the fuck that would happen, maybe we would need to see more of him and understand his story/his side better, and see if he actually does want to work with the WoL side by side instead of just fighting him. Maybe that can happen, he does care about the WoL after all, and he knows enjoyement and thrill will come out of being with them. I just don’t know how that could realistically *WORK*... But I sure does hope there’s some kind of compromise, where he maybe just can reflect on his actions and do something about them.
This is my stupid ‘I see too much of myself in Zenos to talk rationally’ self talking, but I am so sad at seeing a character that has struggles and grew up feeling nothing but apathy, being loved by no one, end up like a villain again. Having to just be put down like a feral animal. Again.
I guess my stupid ass would just like him to be happy, found peace maybe, HELL, I don’t know if he deserves it, but some parts of me tells me he does. I just get so sad when I am reminded at how much his father, family, nation, no one gave a shit about him. That’s too much human and close to home for me to disregard everything entirely and just call him a villain.
I also am conflicted because I wonder if what I want for him isn’t also out of character, and something that would ruin his character and story. I love Zenos because he’s unapologetically himself, does what he wants, and obeys no one’s agenda, but his wants and instincts. I don’t want his personality and story arc to be ruined by salvation or him randomly becoming an ally and everyone pretending he didn’t do anything wrong, that would make me hate him and SE so much. I would much prefer him dead than him ruined as a character. I do wonder if me wanting him to be spared death and him being unapologetically himself are two things that can’t co-exist- it FEELS like that, honestly. I have faith in SE that they will write him and the story well, and make me enjoy what happens, so at the moment I’m not particularly worried about him being ruined as a character. But I just got to the point where I am so attached that I am of course scared of losing my favourite character. I guess we will have to see, honestly only the game and what will happen in the story can tell me if I am right in having hope for him or if I am not. There’s a lot of possibility in the story, a lot of surprises in SE’s writing everything everytime, and i how they make things WORK, so there’s hope in THAT.
And maybe I want to see a different solution for him that isn’t death. Call it retribution, maybe I am projecting TOO MUCH in this character, but yeah, just being honest and baring my emotions to the world here. I guess we will have to see what happens.

Note
hello! i saw your modern hcs and i really liked them! If you write for him, could i ask for some zenos ones please and ty?
Of course I can! Sorry for the delay!
Modern AU Zenos:
-Not the type to want to have a job honestly. Traditional 9-5 jobs bore him and no matter what his family presents him, he has no interest. As such, Zenos lives a lavish lifestyle with no career goals (HAHAHA)
-He doesn't have many friends except for one person (aka WoL) who he met at University. He will always want to see them, even if they don't want to.
-Despite his family's reputation, Zenos often will get in trouble with anyone who wants a fight. He isn't into starting his own gang, but he may interact with them just to see who is the strongest.
-Grew up as a star athlete but over time got bored with sports because no one was close to being a rival to him. (Imagine Zenos and WoL growing up together being rivals in sports and then he gets upset when they move away and that drive in him just stops)
-Did I say he likes to fight? You will see this man making bets, winning and coming out with more money in his pockets. Though, he actually doesn't care for the money. He just wants to get the blood pumping.
-During the day you may see him at a small bar tucked in an alleyway. Despite his wealthy background, he doesn't always desire the finest foods or drinks.
-Zenos does not know how to really interact with people without scaring them. Retail job? Absolutely not. Just a customer? Everyone acts like he owns the store. He just has a really intimidating presence about him that makes it difficult for anyone to get close to him.
-Still hasn't finished his university degree because he barely attends class and finds studying boring. His father isn't impressed but he doesn't care.
