Regarding The FFXVI/XIV Crossover Event

For Meiko's canon, the events occur in present content -- i.e post 6.55, in the time spent between Endwalker and Dawntrail. Here are some notes on the event!

The Wandering Minstrel originally tried to contact both Meiko and A'kihiko, but A'kihiko was busy leading some newbie adventurers from their guild through training, so she went alone.

Opportunities to interact with Clive because we were robbed of more 1-on-1 interactions: Meiko is the one that escorts Clive through Thanalan to Ul'dah, Meiko asks if Clive is getting sick on the airship ("Y'need t'throw up lad?"), Meiko offering to buy Clive a drink after he regains his memories because shite that is rough. Does Torgal want a drink too? Can he have one???

Meiko getting real tense thinking that Clive's Garuda is somehow an Ysayle equivalent popping up elsewhere in Eorzea. She immediately has her little conspiracy brain going when he seems to know Primals/Eikons and he kinda looks like a buffer older, non-cat version of her younger brother.

Meiko commenting she wasn't there when her brother fought Ifrit, so it's kind of funny she gets to do it now! -- Wait. Wait, fuck, that's not what our Ifrit looks like uhhh --

"Oh, you're th'Ysayle!"

This canonically happens not too long after the FF15 event, in which Meiko interacted with Noctis. So she thinks that's just what this is, and is a little worried about the random visitors from other worlds. It isn't a totally foreign thing, but maybe she should chitchat with Y'shtola about it just in case...

She put an arm around Alisaie's shoulders and leaned over the controls to the game. She could probably get the porxie, but she'd let Alisaie get a few more tries in first.

"Can't be too tense, now. All 'bout th'timin' o'the shite. You've got the instincts in battle, aye?" She nodded sagely. "You'll want t'stop movin' it just before you think it'll line up w'th'porxie. There's a wee delay. And you wanna make sure the claw'll land right on its fat arse. Give it th'most to grab onto."

it was taunting her. adorably. it had to be hers. alisaie doubted a glass of ale would do much for her hand eye coordination, yet her own stubbornness hadn’t worked out either. she took the glass, sipped it slightly, then scrunched up her nose. “ ergh, i don’t know how you stomach this. unfortunately i’m desperate, so … we’re doing it your way now. does it always taste weird ? “

"Well, s'either that or I bleed out. So, uh," Meiko winced, looking at her palms. They were stained red; pressure really wasn't working. "If you don't wanna do it, I understand. Just like your wee staff on fire an' I'll do it."

"cauterize... ?" faolan looks down at their staff, then back at meiko. she does have the right of it -- neither of them are skilled in the arts of healing, and a simple bandage might not be enough to help with that gash in her side. still, they hesitate. using fire magicks seems just as risky, if not more. "i don't know if i like the sound of that. what if i hurt you more?"

“Y’know what the key to winnin’ is?” Meiko could not help but intervene, after watching poor Alisaie lose at the crane game twelve times in a row. Even she got something after three or four tries! “Have a drink afore tryin’ again. Calms the nerves.”

This was a confidently stated lie. There was no secret outside of timing. But Alisaie seemed like she needed to relax, and so she not-so-subtly offered her a fresh glass of ale from the bar. "Just don't go downin' it all at once, aye?" She wasn't sure if the teen had had any alcohol before, but she'd keep an eye on her regardless.

“–Ah, fuck. Don’t tell me you’re here to ask for help with some realm-endin’ shite just this minute,” That was usually why the Warrior of Light popped by, and most of the time, Meiko was up for a scrap or two in exchange for hard-earned gil.

But she had just settled down after a performance, and cracked open a box of chocolates someone had gifted her from the crowd. Was it poisoned? Probably not. And even if it was, all the trash she’d consumed as a child in her wee fishing town had probably given her an iron stomach. Just in case the their request was dire, she shoved two differently-flavored pieces into her mouth before he could answer.

Still chewing, she offered out the box, “Y'can have some if you like. Nashmeira’ll skin me if I finish it all m'self.”

Meiko is very diligent, actually! It's her equivalent of studying. She wakes up early morning will go out late at night to practice her dancing, usually in some remote location so nobody sees/bothers her. Essentially she's paranoid about being shit in a fight and it costing someone's life, including her own; so she's always training, and at the tip-top of her game. Even if she "slacks off" for a couple of days, it's easy for her to pick it back up again and get back on schedule.

Is your WoL diligent about training? Or do they tend to slack off?

Outside of the additional scars she's earned, Meiko was physically impacted by the evens of Shadowbringers. Originally she was born with dark brown hair and dark green eyes, but absorbing all the Light physically affected her; her eyes are permanently a glassy, lighter green, she has white streaks in her hair, which has dulled to a dark black.

What's the biggest physical difference from ARR to Dawntrail in your WoL?

Meiko is a Lominsan lass through and through and she always speaks that way. However, I personally base her dialect loosely off of Scots when I write her. It isn't perfect, mainly because I'm not a native Scots speaker and don't know everything, but I put my personal spin on it; she also blends her words together and often drops the g's on her -INGs. Her accent's likely more a blend of various piratey-dialects she heard growing up in her town of Wadewick.

A'kihiko, her brother, has a softer accent, and absolutely adapts to speak more "proper" common when he joins the Scions, as he knows that some people won't listen/will look down on him if he speaks a certain way. Is that fair? Nope. But Hiko is about getting people to cooperate to help save others/finish the mission, so he doesn't let it bug him. He will, however, devolve into his more piratey accent when he gets angry, argues with Mei, and/or goes absolutely feral in battle. Old habits die hard.

No. Meiko doesn't think about it at all. She very fortunately is obligated to go a very nice spa at least once a year, as she is part of Troupe Falsiam. She won't say no to getting pampered if her friends invite her along on some sort of activity! But no, she just showers mostly regularly and hopes hot water and soap will do its job. She probably has been scolded by people, i.e Tataru, to put on sunscreen.
