Aah, can I also request some letters for RK800 and RK900? M, S and Y, please!
Alphabet Headcanons
Fandom: Detroit: Become Human
Character(s): RK800 (Connor), RK900 (Nines)
Type of Request: Alphabet Headcanons
Note(s): Calling RK900 Nines just because I like that better than his model number!
Tumblr media
M - Memory (what is their favourite memory with you?)
Connor
A favorite memory he thinks fondly of from time-to-time is when he went on a walk in the park with you. It's simple and the moment was on the casual side rather than romantic, but he noticed how relaxed and happy you looked.
The smile on your face and seeing you stress-free is kept in his memory banks. Sometimes, he finds himself smiling at the memory popping up out of nowhere.
Nines
It was after a chase with finding a deviant android, one that murdered for the sake of enjoying it than defense. Nines saw you retreat to the roof of the building and he followed you, curious as to what your intentions were. You ended up just talking, mentioning similar cases with humans. Nines added to your comments with logic and how faulty programming caused this.
Nothing romantic happened at all, but hours were spent just talking under the night sky and Nines ends up going back to that moment quite a bit, it was the first moment that he really felt that he got to see you.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
Connor
I feel like Connor would be very protective over you once he's reached deviancy. He realizes his feelings and doesn't like the idea of you being hurt in any way, but he also has to stop himself from rushing to your side every time because he knows that level of protectiveness could upset you too.
Connor would prefer to not resort to violence so he tries to be charming and sly as he gets you out of any uncomfortable situations. That doesn't mean he won't punch someone for you, but he is better with his words. And as such, he's very good with giving you compliments and cheering you up in those situations too.
He usually views other's well-being over his own so having his S/O take care of him makes him happy. He does remind you that it's unnecessary to comfort him, but the smile on his face shows that he very much enjoys it.
Nines
He doesn't realize his protectiveness to his S/O. Nines sees you in danger and he ignores his programming giving him a percentage of your safety as he goes to immediately help you without a thought.
He knows he's strong and physically capable to keep you safe, but then he sees you in emotion turmoil. Nines convinces himself that he's calming you so your performance doesn't jeopardize his, but he is fast to find information and read your tells to make sure you are okay.
Nines would never ask that you protect him. He's a machine and can't feel pain. But if you defend him in conversation or even just stay by his side when he needs you (not that he'd say he needs you) then that causes some system errors that he doesn't quite know how to handle.
Y - Yearning (how do they cope when they are missing you? are they alright with being without you for an extended period of time or would they prefer to be with you every day of their life without exception?)
Connor
Definitely is a bit of a puppy when it comes to his S/O being away. He tries to not let it affect his performance, but Hank is quick to call him out on it. He ends up getting his coin out more often or trying to find ways to occupy his mind as a small timer is going on in the back of his programming for when you'll be back.
Very much would prefer you to be around him all the time, but he also knows that would be unreasonable and illogical to ask for, so he just awaits for your return.
Nines
Nothing seems to change for Nines when his S/O is gone for a while. He still performs highly and functions just fine. Nothing really seems wrong except for the fact that he acts more like a machine while you're away.
He does miss you, but he can't let it get in the way of his work. Would request that you not leave so often or not be gone for too long as he wants to make sure you're by his side and not in danger of being hurt.

rAHH HH YOUR NOIR FICS ARE SO SWEET I LOVE THEM SM!! ! ! f its okay to request some fluffy headcanons!! noir having a romantic partner from a different dimension who's also been bitten by a radioactive spider and whom is new at the whole,, spider-man stuff👀👀👀
AWWW TYSM ANON (人*´∀`)。*゚+ OFC THAT IDEA SOUNDS SO CUTE OMG okie here >:))
spider noir with a newbie spider person partner
• okay, if noir was assigned to help you break in, HE'D BE THE MOST GENTLE ONE FOR THE JOB TBH
• he would be pretty awkward at first, because i like to think that miguel, jess, or peter b usually does this stuff and not just anyone else. but if they were busy, then noir wouldn't mind doing it.
• the first time be met you, you'd probably be so overwhelmed with the whole facility and thought of being a superhero. then it occurred to him–"you have no doggone idea what you're supposed to do"
• he'd see it in the way you were practicing your swings, much like how miles was in the first movie, you were rough around the edges when it came to this–very inexperienced. noir, out of the goodness of his heart, decides to help teach you personally.
• he'd ask you first if it was okay with you if he could touch you this way–by the waist and by the wrist–to teach you how to swing. if you told him it was okay, he'd mutter a, "good", and hold you close and tight, and swing you around.
• that was probably the moment you fell for him, when he held you so gently and carefully that he made it clear he wasn't going to let you go, despite all your fears that he'd lose his balance, or his grip, or drop you on purpose. he meant to protect and teach you, and you felt a growing fondness for the man :>
• now i think the moment he'd fall for you was when you went on your first mission, whether he'd be there or just heard about what happened it is up to you, but i'd like to think he was there for the whole mission and was preoccupied by another villain. he wanted to be the one to defend and protect you, but instead, you saved him, kicking the villain's asses without anyone teaching you how to do it that way.
• he fell in love with the way you fought–the way you kept going despite the physical strain, the anxiety you were feeling, the rising adrenaline that made you want to quit because you weren't used to this–you disregarded all of that when you realized noir needed your help.
• "wow... color me surprised, newbie. you've got some sweet moves you gotta teach me."
• from that day on, you two have been exchanging moves and tactics with each other. and you two have been doing things outside of missions together, like maybe visiting each other's home dimension and showing the other all kinds of things in their universe that the other doesn't have.
• if you had a disco ball in your room, noir would be SO OBSESSED WITH IT. you told him it was just decor, it was usually used for dancing. noir would insist on dancing with you under the light of the disco ball, AND THAT'S WHEN YOU TWO REALIZE JUST HOW CLOSE YOU TWO ARE–WHEN YOU TWO FINALLY SHARE A DANCE.
• "y'know, i've been watching you from afar, in a concerned, friendly way. but now that... i've realized you don't need me as much as i thought you would... i've gone from watching to admiring you. if you'd let me... i'll admire you for a whole eternity."

Hi! I love your writing! Instant follow with the leader and blanket one.
Writing prompt: Retired leader being comforted by his wife from ptsd nightmare
Please?
Thank you for the prompt idea! Honestly, this was a great way to get out of the stump I was in, and I hope it's what you're looking for!
This takes place in a further future of an original character of mine.
Rex heard the sound of the gun going off before he saw Connor's body hit the ground. He tries to get to his fallen teammate before someone else pulls him away. Somebody is shouting orders but all Rex can hear is Connor's heartbeat in his ears, which should be impossible. He only gets a second where Connor's eyes meet his, pleading him for help as he chokes on the blood collecting in his throat and falls to the ground.
The next second, Rex finds himself running. There's something heavy on his back. A person? He doesn't know where he's running but he's following someone in front of him.
Rex blinks and he's on the ground and everything hurts. He tries to look for something, he doesn't even know what he's looking for but it's something he knows it's something he needs. Smoke is covering his vision and he can't see in front of him. But then he finds it.
Under his fingers, wet and sticky and sickeningly warm is a hand that isn't his. A hand that isn't attached to an arm.
Suddenly the smoke clears and hands are covering his face, suffocating him. He pushes against the hands, clawing at them to let him go but they only wrap tighter on his face. He feels more fingers around his throat, not letting him get a single breath in. Rex feels the black out coming as his body loses strength.
"Rex!"
The man startles awake, hitting his head against the headboard. His vision becomes starry as he rubs his eyes, trying to make it go away quicker because he can't see, and his team needs him and he-
"Shit, Rex!"
The retired captain had sent a punch that only hit air. Someone is pinning him down and Rex feels every muscle in his body strain to fight back but at the same time he's exhausted. He can't defend himself and he can't escape and his team isn't coming for him-
"Rex, baby, look at me?"
Slowly, everything comes back into focus again. Rex finds himself enveloped in warm, strong arms, his ear right next to someone's chest.
"Rex, can you hear it? You hear my heartbeat don't you? Can you count it for me, baby?"
Rex obediently does as he's told. He feels fingers gently scratching his scalp as he finally is able to process his surroundings.
Rhea stops him when he reaches 150, gently tilting her husband's face up to look at him. She gently rubs her thumb against his cheekbone, smiling softly at him.
"Hi there, big guy. Can you tell me where you are right now?"
"At home?"
Rhea hummed in approval, her hands cupping Rex's jaw.
"Did I...did I wake you? I had another nightmare?"
"Yes, baby. You did. But it's okay. It happens," Rhea kissed Rex's face before pressing their foreheads together.
"It's okay, Rex. Everything's okay,"
Rhea pulled her husband into a tight hug, and soon enough, she felt him shake with sobs. She shushed him gently, letting him bury his face in her shoulder, soaking the cotton in tears. Rex holds onto his wife tightly. A small irrationall part of him thinks that if he doesn't, he'll lose her too.
"You're okay, Rex. You're okay,"

Succession S4 Speculation on Greg
Tumblr media
What skills does Greg even have? I think the only thing he's really accomplished is fine-tuning his ability to maneuver around Tom. He knows how to be somewhat manipulative and how to get on Tom's good side. He can weasel his way around a conversation and follow Tom's lead. I feel like there's little I can talk about in terms of skills that don't relate to Tom, his family doesn't even like him. Meaning his confidence is in welding his skills with Tom and that the twists relate to his relationship with Tom.
Nicholas Braun has said in regards to season 4 to "believe in Greg". What does that look like in the context of his character arc on the show so far? Jesse has said he doesn't believe people change — what I believe in for Greg is that at his core he wants love and approval, and he's going to do anything to obtain it. The "twist" will be the the lengths Greg will go to in order to obtain it from Tom. Most people think the twist will be a betrayal, but it's not much of a twist when everyone suspects it.
Something that's been kicking around my brain a lot is the motif of Greg being Tom's attack dog. An attack dog is a loyal animal that has a master and defends to the death on command, no matter who or what they're pitted against.
On Jimmy Kimmel Nicholas Braun mentioned he molded his character after a dog he'd been looking after. "He would kind of follow me around and he was looking at me like 'is it ok that I'm in here with you?' — you know kinda — he wanted to be next to me but he's sort of asking permission to be with me, and I thought 'that's pretty Greggy'."
What do these things mean within the constructs of the show?
In season 3 when he's allowed up while they're talking about picking the next president, like a dog he's just happy to be involved. And who let him up? Tom, holding open the elevator. Time and again it's Tom looping Greg in, all the way to the end of last season when he's given explicit permission to be at Tom's side.
The only problem? He's been enlisted as Tom's attack dog when by all appearances he'd rather be Tom's lap dog.
On a talk show recently Nicholas Braun was asked "What does Greg in attack dog mode look like? Are we ready?" He had a joking response about how we are not ready and that it's ferocious.
I believe Greg will be defending his place next to Tom in all aspects of life. He's been given permission to let that "dark side" of himself out. He'll do whatever he can to keep Tom and their codependency going strong, defending that bond is when he'll actually be "ferocious."
Because his deal with the devil? It's his safe place.
He thought Kendall was a safe place; he wasn’t. Thought, Oh, Grandpa Ewan will take me back in; he doesn’t. Logan brings him on his side, but it doesn’t feel that safe. At the end of the season, when Tom is like, ‘I’ve got a path for us, follow me,’ he’s like, Okay, I found my safe place. There’s just a lot of relief. He’s been torn between a lot of potential sides and tried to play it right. A big part of his struggle is, Where do I land here? Where do I fit in here? And I’ll be a loyal soldier to whoever accepts me.
The actor has also stated (in relation to going to the "dark side"):
"I don't think there's much that could turn him off at this point."
Double entendre not withstanding, if the dark side is being aligned with Tom (the devil), what things might "turn him off" and cause a betrayal?
Not feeling valued or wanted.
You can see glimpses of it in episode 2 of season 4 when Logan tells Greg to fuck off and instead of instinctively listening he first looks to Tom — alarmingly between the two he's still taking his cues from Tom and not Logan. In episode 3 he is "ditched" and forced to attend Connor's wedding without Tom to guide and protect him, and he seems quite eager in his initial phone call with Tom not only to rather be at Tom's side, but jealous of the others Tom has found to "Greg" for him. He's awfully pitiful in wanting Tom to see him as a person and valued. If Greg's betrayal happens at all, I think this will be the driving factor. I also think the long game of a betrayal would be to bring them closer together; after Shiv and Logan are properly out of the picture Tom will depend on him.
In an interview Nicholas Braun said "It's going to be exciting to see him let down some of his guards, and say 'fuck it, let's go for it,' whatever that is," (yes — what is it Greg's going for?) and in a seperate interview "I'm not sure how scheming he'll be. I've always thought of him as someone who does have that side to him. When I'm in his head, it feels like he collects information about how everyone operates and how can he use it against them."
In regards to his relationship with Tom?
"Maybe Greg will hit a breaking point soon, but every time he does, Tom does something to keep him wrapped up."
And what kind of things does he do? He shows him affection or offers a nugget of truth about his feelings. That's all it takes to keep Greg at his side. I think, from what we've seen so far, Tom continually will be able to step up and be more and more open and honest with Greg going forward. In episode 3 Greg was the only person Tom reached to yet again to display his true emotions so I have hope that this will continue going strong until the end!

the ccs not saying anything is especially frustrating to me because i get not wanting to make an actual definitive statement since the victim went to the police and drm's apparently getting lawyers involved, and he by far has more influence and money than most of the other creators he interacts with but like. people like hasan and moistcritical could definitely be talking about it, they have more than enough support to have a safety net against backlash with something like this
and as for other mcyt/dsmp-related ccs even something as small as just UNFOLLOWING the motherfucker would be telling, like while it wouldn't remotely be as effective at outright denouncing him/directly supporting the victim, it would be Something to let people know where they stand, but i guess this is them letting us know where they stand :/
like with everything getting swept under the rug the way it has been obviously the people who know him personally are gonna believe him over strangers on the internet no matter what evidence they have (the fact she even felt she had enough go to the police at all is personally all i need to know but that's besides the point ig) and it's just driving me insane that nobody seems to care
sorry to clog up your inbox with more of this bs but this whole thing is just so horrible and i needed to get my thoughts out to other ppl
don't apologise, i agree. though i would prefer a joint statement from the dsmp ccs, unfollowing him would be enough for right now with the cases ongoing (possible defamation case and possible criminal case via the police amanda went to). especially because of the bot that tracks who follows and unfollows who in that circle; it'd almost count as speaking out.
to your point of them believing his words privately, it is also important to remember: he has publicly said the ig messages were real, and the ig messages included the private snapchat account handle.
Tumblr media
he's admitted to privately messaging fans over a longer period of time and requesting the conversation be taken to another app that's notorious for deleting all evidence immediately or after 24 hours, through his private account. for ccs like connor, based on his own words from just yesterday!!, that should be enough to cut him off.
on top of that, the fact that ccs who normally cover situations like this - hasan, ludwig, moistcritikal - aren't saying anything? it's worrying me. either they're legitimately ignoring it, which is so scummy i can't even put it into words, or the dream stans defending him have succeeded in sweeping it under the rug. either situation is terrifying to me. connor mentioned having seen it from the updates account that's since deactivated. if he doesn't look into it, chances are it won't come up on his tl again because no thread with the proof has blown up, amanda has gone to the police and can't speak up anymore, and the ccs who usually would cover situations like this just aren't for some reason.

Thinking about only one bed trope now.
Apotheosis: Thanatos doesn't need a bed he's a robot. Peter and Rumi would agree to share the bed after, "It's okay Rumi I can sleep on the floor." "Oh no Peter, we should share the bed. I don't mind." "You mean it??" "Absolutely." Rumi spoons Peter thinking (I think I want to marry him) and falls asleep quick, Peter struggles to sleep for a bit thinking (I'M DESPERATELY IN LOVE AA OH I FEEL SO LOVED). But anyways it turns out cute, they both sleep comfortably. There's not much complaint here unless Exandroth and Rumi are in the same room because Exandroth could sleep on a goddamn window frame or from the ceiling like a bat and Rumi would fucking hate it. "Sleep on the bed Exandroth." "I DON'T WANT TO, IT'S NOT COMFORTABLE." "How." "IT JUST IS, YOU DON'T GET IT." Rumi is glaring at Exandroth who is sound asleep in a couple of seconds.
Prime Defenders: They all go "gang time to pile up" like they're on a mission or something. William is on the outer edge of the bed and laying on his side not sleeping, just watching the others. Ashe is in the middle as stiff as a board staring up at the ceiling and sleeps in that exact position. Vyncent is curled up like a cat. Dakota is sprawled out laying on top of all of them at once. They.. Sleep but.. It's just average, you know? Not bad not good.
Riptide: Gillion is in the middle and holding onto Chip and Jay. Actually, Chip and Jay were like "this is going to be fun I love these guys it's going to me great!" They only realised all too late that this is a terrible idea because it smells like fish and is damp, it's not a good combo. They fall asleep it's sort of nice but also they're never doing that again. Actually, Chip is probably awake for a while fidgeting with Gillion's hair or something. He should not be allowed to be in their vicinity </3 never forget Chip canonically has pulled out Jay's hair.
Blood in the Bayou: They have shared a bed so many times that they're not peturbed. Normal. They usually sleep close to each other but don't outright cuddle (unless it's by accident). Rand always wakes up and paces around the room for the bit before going back to bed and waking up again and pacing again. This usually wakes up Rolan and Kian too but they never complain because they usually fall back asleep quickly. And if they don't they just sit up and watch Rand pace back and forth like man. Our friend is weird.
Mythborne: Ryan is like "cool let's go to sleep I do this with the j crew plenty no homo" but Aster and Connor get embarassed and spend the night trying to find somewhere else to sleep. If they're desperate they will later concede utterly exhausted and get into bed while Ryan is already fast asleep. They make sure they're as far away from each other as possible.
There's probably more details that could be added but these are my immediate thoughts.

You’re one of my favorite writers for Sarah/ Conner and I couldn’t pass up your advent writing challenge.
I would love to see your take on Sarah /Conner taking care of each other after those tough moments on the job.
Like Conner finding out that Sarah as the new intern in the psych department has to speak to the families of the dead and she’s just so exhausted and emotionally drained and he’s just there taking care of her being protective etc
Tumblr media
Hi! Thanks so much for the kind words! So I took a version of your idea and went off the rails of what you intended. Also there is an ambiguous ending. But I hope you enjoy it nonetheless! This is set in my amnesia au, after Sarah is discharged and returns to work. But she still doesn't have her memories.
Tumblr media
"It'll be fine," Connor reassured her, pressing a kiss to her forehead as they walked across the parking lot to the ED. Her hand was firmly interlocked with his large palm. Whether this was to keep her from running away or not, Sarah didn’t know. There was a secondhand Deja vu running through her too and it was annoying that she couldn’t remember why. “I’ll be around the ED if you need me, which you won’t. But if I’m not around, you’ll have Will, Maggie, April, Ethan, and all of our other friends even if you don’t remember them yet.”
She only remembered two weeks into her ED rotation, so it had been Dr. Choi’s and Dr. Halstead’s idea for her to essentially redo the rotation in hopes of jogging her memory. Sarah didn't think it was quite that simple, but she didn’t have any better ideas, so she went with it.
Her husband sounded so optimistic that she didn’t want to tell him otherwise. But there was a nervous tug in her stomach that disputed his reassurances.
Spoiler Alert: her stomach ended up being right.
[LINE BREAK] [LINE BREAK] [LINE BREAK] [LINE BREAK] [LINE BREAK]
“Too bad, your medical license will be taken away before you even remember how to use it. Seriously, what fourth-year can’t do a groin line?”
She would not cry. She would not cry. A tear slipped down her face and fell onto her hands as she kept her head low. She didn’t want to face any of the other three people in the room. Even if Dr. Marcel and Dr. Asher were defending her. (No, they weren’t defending her. They were defending their friend. They were defending the Sarah she was before the accident.)
“Ms. Goodwin, we both heard it. Dr. Lanik was deliberately taunting her.” Dr. Asher explained, shaking her head.
“What did I even do to him? Dr. Lanik?” Sarah asked, looking for Crockett to Hannah, and finally facing Ms. Goodwin. Both of her new friends exchanged looks, but it was Hannah who answered her.
“I don’t think it was anything you did to him, Sarah. I think you’re just guilty by association.” The brunette blinked at the other woman’s words.
“Guilty by association? What do you mean?” Hannah grinned sympathetically. It was a patronizing thing that people did now. Because she didn’t remember anything from the last four years. It grated on Sarah’s nerves and made her want to scream even though she knew everyone probably didn’t mean anything by it. If they even knew they were doing it in the first place.
“It’s my understanding from Will that Dr. Lanik and Connor really do not get along.”
…And she was being punished because she was married to-
“I’m here. I’m here. Sorry, got caught up removing a tumor from someone’s lung. What happened?” Her husband burst through the door and Sarah frowned as the familiar feeling of getting called down to the principal’s office worsened.
“Nothing. I’m fine.” She hoped her voice didn’t shake and give herself away as she stood up from her chair and lied, “I was just telling Ms. Goodwin that today has been a lot for me so I think I’m going to go home.”
Thankfully no one corrected her. She met his eyes just long enough before she avoided them again. In her peripheral vision, Connor frowned. Then after a beat, he nodded. “Okay, just let me get my stuff then we can-”
“No, you stay.” Sarah was already shaking her head. Connor deserved one day where he didn’t have to take care of her, where he didn’t have to be shackled to her because of her amnesia. “I can take the bus. I checked the schedule last night just in case something like this happened.”
“Sarah, we’ll have you work the shift with Dr. Charles tomorrow. Give you a break from the ED.”
“Actually, Ms. Goodwin, I don’t think that’s such a good idea. If today has shown us anything, it’s that I’m more of a liability right now. If you need to fire me, I understand.”
“Sarah,” her husband said softly, but she ignored him except to give him a sad smile. With a nod to everyone in the room, she passed Connor and patted his shoulder. He was still looking at her worriedly as he pressed a kiss to her forehead.
It was only after Sarah was gone that Connor looked at Crockett, Hannah, and Ms.Goodwin in turn because his wife wasn’t acting like his wife. She looked like she was about to cry and she didn’t meet his eyes.
“Okay, does someone want to explain what just happened?”

No but like the 3.02 discussion is so. Like first of all there's Kendall and Connor saying they all knew, and you already get the implication of Connor's knowledge from 2.04 where he clearly hated Mo and his friends but still felt compelled to defend them and looking haunted and angrily shutting out Pantsil when says Mo "spoke fondly" of him, and Kendall's got 1.04 being upset about an employee being coerced into sleeping with him while it's normalized to everyone else and 2.06 with him saying they can't minimize it or do victim math in response to Logan saying "no one real gives a fuck" and aaaall the fuckin Cruise victims parallels with him specifically and the weight of all the long history of secrets kept between him and his father and how it kills him inside
And then on the other hand Roman and Shiv are both much more defensive about not knowing, Roman getting all flustered and quiet and Shiv refusing to be told that she was complicit in covering crimes that happened when she was just a kid and very well could've happened to her too and just because she knew enough to avoid them doesn't mean she's responsible, and how Kendall responds both to that by claiming this is just sidebar stuff and they're losing focus and to Roman leaving the room after Shiv jokes about how he can't fuck by going along with the joke himself. And it's like, Kendall can be righteous and angry about the company their father kept and protected and the abuses he knowingly let happen and cover up and when Logan claims he never did anything personally Kendall changes the subject, but as soon as anything comes up that would expose his own culpability in the cover-up and his failure to prevent or speak out about what was happening as well as failing to protect Roman and Shiv, he clams up and can't face it. And that's exactly what happened with the waiter, he left and ran and let his father erase it all and he can't ever talk about it because he's always had the threat of his life being destroyed for saying anything, and he wants to be the brave hero tearing down corruption but he's just not.

uhhhhh the way after a certain point, sharing something about himself, or not sharing, actually has nothing to do with trust and connor doesn’t link it to that at all. the way connor can trust people deeply and all the way through and still sometimes he prefers to Hold It. connor doesn’t do “i trust you and let me prove it by sharing information about myself-”, if they see it they see it but he isn’t there to “prove it” sometimes it is just that he trusts them all the way through and he would prefer not to be out-loud about that thing about himself right at this particular moment, and he doesn’t consider it affectionate (or not affectionate) to pick and choose what he makes aloud about himself. the way connor pulls hard away from people or situations where he feels they want to pick through his being / his head / how he ‘feels’, because they think there’s something to prove about it (or improve about it). the way connor doesn’t have patience for people who feel entitled to a logbook of his emotions the moment that they want it. thanks

I love your sister!reader fics! Do you have anymore planned?
I have a few that I've been writing on the backburner, but I don't know when I'll finish or post them. But the ones that I have are;
Atwater!sister - Kevin Atwater's sister who's only a few years younger than him left with their younger siblings for their protection. She ends up moving with Vinessa (Jordan has skipped out and onto Chicago at this point) to North Carolina for work and runs into Peter Mills and starts dating him. They eventually move back to Chicago and Mills re-opens his family's diner and returns to the firehouse, he also finally meets Kevin who isn't all that happy about her sister's choice of romantic partner cause of the whole 'runs into danger' thing, but accepts it when he sees how much Peter loves her.
Choi!sister - this sister is the middle child between Ethan and Emily, and is a firefighter, the first female to ever be on squad. You and Ethan have a strained relationship because he thinks it's too dangerous for you to be a firefighter and one day you get hurt on a call and he shoves it in your face. This causes an argument and you stop speaking to him until Emily convinces you two to talk for the sake of your unborn nephew.
Rhodes!sister - to absolutely no one's surprise, Cornelius Rhodes has a few affair children lying around, you happen to be one of them, and the only one in Chicago. Claire is a dadddy's girl and is devastated and has made it crystal clear that she hates you. Connor on the other hand is much more welcoming, hangs out with you, brings you to family events, defends you from Claire, and assures you that your father was a scumbag and you didn't miss out on anything from him not being present in your life.
Casey!sister - turns out that Nancy Casey was pregnant when she shot her ex-husband and gave birth to you whiloe in prison (you got teased a lot about that). You were in the foster system cause no one wanted to deal with you until Matt was finally able to get guardianship of you when he was 20.
Zidan!sister - OA actually isnt in this one much, just a couple phone calls. Basically, you're going to Chicago for university. OA takes a couple days off to help you move there, and introduces you to Jay Halstead, an old friend from his time in the Rangers, and they tell you that he's a cop and if you ever need help to call him cause he's a lot closer than OA is. You're in your third year, living with your long term boyfriend when he starts cheating on you and turns aggressive. He gets very possessive and controlling, he hasn't hit you but you're scared he's going to. You need help, so you call Jay.
Burgess!sister - When Kim brings Adam home for the first time, you like the rest of your family, love him and are so happy for your sister... Until you check out his facebook and find out he's engaged to someone who is not Kim. You go to tell her, you're so sorry that he's made her the other woman unknowingly, until she reveals that she knows he's engaged, doesn't care, and is waiting for him to dump her. You let the rest of your family know what went down and everyone is disappointed, your family in her, and her in you because you 'don't understand' and 'betrayed her'. Your relationship is strained after this. Throughout all of this, the reader is dating, and then gets engaged to, Sean Roman. You have to see her more often when he moves to the 21st and he becomes her partner, but you're civil for Sean's sake. Everything's fine until Kim breaks off her engagement with Ruzek and you catch her and Sean cheating. "What is it with you and engaged men, Kim?" Very angsty. There isn't really a happy ending.
Upton!sister - Hailey hasn't spoken to her father since she turned 18 and her mother since she was 20. She finds out during a case that she has a younger sister she didn't know about, an 'oops' baby that was born after she cut contact. She figures out pretty quick that your dad is still abusive and her mom is still enabling him, and fights for guardianship of you with Jay's help.
Zvonecek!sister - you move to Chicago a year after Otis dies to work as a medical lawyer, and firehouse 51 basically adopts you, and when the person you're dating (haven't decided who yet) cheats on you, the firefighters and paramedics take the phrase 'hell hath no fury' a little too seriously.
Manning!sister - Helen runs into you while dropping off the cupcakes for Nat's baby shower to Maggie (cause you're a doc, too) and she gives you the stink eye the whole time and is super short with you until she leaves in a huff, while you're nothing but smiles and you're forced to recount to Maggie why Helen hates you so much. Which, in short, is that she showed up to your sister's wedding in a full on wedding gown so you... Took care of it.
Halstead Bros - I might add a sister!reader to this, might not, idk, but basically after Papa Halstead dies Jay is going through his dad's email and tying up loose ends, when he comes accross evidence that his dad had numerous affairs while his mom was still alive, and being the angry mama's boy that he is, Jay figures out who everyone is to try and figure out what to do about the situation (while a little drunk on whiskey and cursing his dad). He is able to figure out that around 40 years ago one of his dad's affairs, with one Nancy Casey, produced a child. So basically it would be a mini series of Jay and Will adjusting to having Matt as their brother, and Matt adjusting to knowing exactly why his dad was killed by his mom and actually having some family. Involves lots of awkward nods, wordless eye converstaions, drinking, and buffering from their significant others.

I’m the succession anon again…you can dm me at succ-season-3-when, but I’m really busy so there’s no telling when I’ll be able to reply.
Anyhow, I rewatched season 1 episode 1 and 2 and the Shiv and Kendall parallels are there already??
With Marcia & the family trust thing, Logan went to WR to ask Kendall to sign the papers on the trust change because he might not be at lunch ('cause of the deal), and Logan knew this, and told him it's just housekeeping when Ken asked if he needed a lawyer to look over it.
Logan later held Ken's signature against him, and cited the fact he didn't talk to his lawyer about it and that Ken left the deal to attend lunch with their family (for Logan's birthday) as evidence that he's "soft".
When Logan went over the papers to the siblings, Shiv was the first one to ask about the double voting weight, and said she's gonna have to talk to her lawyer about the papers; when Connor said he's going with the majority choice and left, both Shiv and Ken called his name.
On the trust change, at first Roman sided with Shiv in that what Logan's giving them in exchange for their signatures isn't enough; then, when Roman asked Greg to bring the papers over for him to sign in the hospital, Shiv asked Greg to not bring them.
It became apparent that Shiv was never going to sign it in the first place, and despite her and Ken both praising Marcia ("sucking up to her") in front of Logan in episode 1, they were both antagonistic toward her (shown by Kendall's small rant against her and Shiv's demand to see her dad).
When the siblings were forced to pick someone as acting CEO and acting chairman, Kendall reached out to Frank (who Logan recently fired) for the chairman position as in the original plan and was turned down, then when Kendall asked the siblings to support him as acting CEO, Shiv was the only one adamantly against the idea.
Then, Shiv asked Roman to reach out to Gerri for the acting CEO position, and was subsequently rejected and therefore had to support Kendall. Shiv then asked for her opposition to be put on record, and that they agreed on Kendall only 'cause they had no other choice.
Like…it’s them; it’s always been them.
@succ-season-3-when hey I know we've already been messaging each other all the time since you sent me this some weeks ago, but I finally rewatched the first 2 episodes and since I was going to talk about it with you anyway, why not pull out this message and finally give my 2 cents.
And you're completely right that IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THEM... In a way that is almost obvious and why the hell it even took me so long to see it lmao
I think the theme that gets us all these parallels is because they are the main power struggle from the start. There are multiple examples of the two of them heading the arguments or Kendall automatically turning to her to defend his point and plead to get her support, validation or simply her opinion, even when all the siblings are there. Kendall's consistent first instinct is to get Shiv on his side as a priority.
In 1.01, after Logan says he'll stay on as CEO (around the 30:00 mark) and leaves the room, at first Kendall is talking to all of them but then Connor leaves (it's that moment when they both call him back) and he lets his insecurity flow completely and he turns to Shiv to say "This doesn't stand, right???" as if the baby sister who doesn't work in the company would know bsjsbshjsbhabah and Shiv just shrugs at him lmao
In 1.02, around 16:12 when Kendall goes to pitch his plan to become temporary CEO, Roman talks to him and he is a bit dismissive, then fully turns to Shiv to make his case (and you know how Roman has a tendency to lower himself physically to put Gerri above him when he talks to her?? Kendall does the same thing here as a sign that he is trying to reach her in a disarming manner and respecting her authority/power on this stage and wanting to count on it rather than have her submit to his.
Tumblr media
Also a nice visual that he is basically begging hsbsjabahha
Tumblr media
They both break into argument and Roman is mostly just there watching.
There's another argument that starts at 26:25 and the first part is Roman saying that it could be him (that gets the job) and Kendall completely doesn't take him seriously (honestly, who would at this point) and Shiv breaks the fight between them. The next part is Kendall and Shiv as the two driving forces again while Roman only throws some jokes around.
35:10 is part 2 of the same argument and it starts with Kendall again turning to Shiv to give important news about the Vaulter article. He gets Willa out of the room and tries to get Tom out, but Shiv is against and he drops it. And then, well, there's even a shot of Roman watching from afar while they start their thing yet again.
Tumblr media
Kendall is talking technically with all his siblings, but Shiv is clearly the one he wants behind him because I think he knows Roman would follow her and so would Connor.
Tumblr media
But Shiv really doesn't want to because, of course, while they were already all resigned about the job before, when Logan went back on his word, all the other siblings started seeing it as a new chance before them (which is why Roman suddenly wants back in again and when Logan tries to lure Shiv in, she says she would only come for the top job in episode 1. Even Connor says he would do it jsbshabahabah).
Tumblr media
It's only after all this that Kendall goes to his last resort and tries to get Roman on his side to find a way out of this fight. Shiv and Connor are against it and Roman doesn't help, but he doesn't hinder and Kendall does his best to argument in his favor for Shiv in the scene at 49:08. He manages to convince her (it's that scene where he goes "maybe you wouldn't be his favorite anymore if we backed someone else and the company fell out of the family's hands") and when they all go to the suits to tell them the family stance, he defers to her to announce it and back him, even though she wasn't planning on saying anything.
And all of that is to illustrate where the main conflict for power is and how they are the ones who want to have it the most. They are the two who are the most against the change of the trust, like you said (Kendall tries to play good son and insults Marcia later about it. Shiv just flat out says "I'm giving away power, why would I do that??"). The entirety of episode two as a Kendall vs Shiv decision. There's even when Kendall gets there, and he talks about "who are the top dogs here?" LMAO and Shiv goes "Kendall stop acting like the king of the hospital! Fuck off, I'm ON IT" and he stops. When they get the names of the top doctors, Tom says a name, Kendall says it's not who he has, but Shiv says "well, it's who I HAVE, so make the call" and Kendall caves again and lets her lead the sibling opposition to Marcia's decision to not move Logan, and that tells a lot about why he turns to her so much. She's dangerous when she's against you because of her confidence and determination and a source of strenght for whatever side she is because of sheer stubbornness sjbsajba which must give more insecure people like Kendall a source of comfort (maybe a bit like how a less confident person in a room will try and make their case and get the support of the most confident / strong person, I suppose).
There's also the fact that leading for Kendall doesn't come as naturally as for Shiv PLUS he has a tendency to give in to her a lot, like in this episode, in episode 3 when he is the middle of a crisis and she gets him to agree to do something for her. Or in season 2 when she gets him to help her fuck with Rhea.
And I mean, this is only the first two episodes and a lot has been said about them thematically being mirrors since the start, besides all this dynamic talk. They go on to have their own conflicts, but the foundation is these first two (1.02 is a big favorite of mine because of all the power struggles and family arguments). During all of this, Shiv is only a shareholder, she's not even openly pursuing yet, so If I were to analyze season 2 I would not stop talking EVER because the while the seeds are all here in 1, they absolutely explode in 2 (and season 3 is even better). I hope we never lose this tbh. Whether they will destroy each other, band together for something or have Roman disrupt it as another major force, I know it will be good and it will be done right.

Random idea I had a couple days ago
-
Niles and his family moved from Ukraine to America, where he doesn't know the language well, so that he and his brother can go to the prestigious university they've been accepted to.
Unlike his brother, he's not very social, so he worries about being alone in a new country. Luckily his roommate at the university, Gavin, takes him under his wing immediately, making sure he's never by himself unless he wants to be and helping him navigate through the English world while he improves his fluency.
Niles does notice some odd things about Gavin - how he seems to have bonded very strongly to Niles in a short period, eats ravenously at every meal, and often spends nights out of their dorm, etc. - but he figures these are just some of the strange differences Americans have.
It's not until one night, when they're walking home from a casual night out through the darkened streets, that he learns the truth. As they walk past a stretch of trees, he hears a terrifying growl, and the next thing he knows a humongous wolf is jumping out at them. He's sure he's about to die.
Unbeknownst to him, Gavin knows the wolf - an old packmate, no doubt coming after him for revenge. He's kept his true nature a secret from his roommate, not wanting to scare him off, but knowing that the alternative is for them both to be killed, he jumps in front of Niles to defend him, undergoing the transformation into a wolf as he does.
Once Gavin has won the fight, sending the other wolf running, he shifts back, turning to Niles to find him wide-eyed and breathing hard, staring at him. He steps towards him slowly, hands up, ready to start the usual reassurances that he's safe, that Gavin isn't dangerous, that he can explain-
But before he can Niles runs at him, pulling him into a hug - rather awkward since most of his clothes have been shredded - and then moving back, glaring at him and slapping his chest lightly. "Why did you not tell me you are a vovkolak!? This explains so much!"
"A vov- a werewolf? You know werewolves are real?"
Niles looks at him incredulously, "Of course! In Ukraine, Connor and I have many friends who are vovkolak. I was thinking they are rare here because I don't see them at school."
"What, so Ukrainian wolves just... Hang out in the open? Don't the humans get scared?"
Niles laughs, bringing a hand up to Gavin's unkempt hair to pet him - an action which makes the wolf sigh and relax into the touch. "Scared? You vovkolak are like big puppies, why should we be scared?"
Gavin frowns, "It's not like that here. There are lots of us, but humans freak out when they find out there are witches around them, let alone a whole pack of werewolves."
"That is why you did not tell me? You thought I would be upset?"
"Yeah, I mean," Gavin shrugs, "Upset, or scared, or like. That you might try to send a hunter after me. That's what usually happens."
Niles gasps, "I would never! I will not tell anyone, I promise."
"Yeah, I believe you. Not many humans out there who would try to pet a wolf if they were that scared."
Niles pulls back his hand, which was still running through the wolf's hair, apologizing sheepishly. He hadn't even realized he hadn't stopped.
Gavin smiles, reassuring him, "Don't be sorry. Felt nice. Might be better to bring it indoors though - you're probably freezing, right? C'mon, I'll get you home before I go make sure that guy isn't thinking of doubling back into my territory."

Deceived or lying?
Tumblr media
A common claim among abortion advocates is that although legal abortion deaths are indeed sad, they're only a pale shadow of the carnage that would ensue were legal protection restored to unborn children. They use these claims to garner support among those otherwise reluctant to support legal abortion as well as to slander life advocates. I find no fault with people who innocently believe what they've been told. by people and organizations that they considered trustworthy. But once you have learned the truth, you have a responsibility to hold those who deceived you accountable and to stop passing on the deceptive claims. If you can't defend your stand without lying, should you be defending it at all? There are two approaches Big Abortion takes when trying to scare people into supporting legal abortion as a means of protecting women's lives:
Outright lying. They will trot out the long-disproven claim that 5,000 to 10,000 women were dying every year from abortion before legalization.
Lying by omission. They will use numbers that are accurate, but will totally remove them from context in order to draw a conclusion that is demonstrably false.
Let's start with the outright lie: that 5,000 to 10,000 were dying annually in the US from abortions prior to criminalization. Where did the numbers come from? Here's an interesting exercise: When you see the 5,000 to 10,000 deaths claim, check and see who they cite (if they even bother to cite a source at all). Odds are it will be Lawrence "Larry" Lader or some other late 1960's early 1970's abortion guru. This gives the impression that Lader (or whoever) looked at whatever the then-current situation was and wrote up his findings. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Tumblr media
Dr. Frederick Taussig
The original source was a book -- Abortion, Spontaneous and Induced -- published in 1936 by Dr. Frederick Taussig, a leading proponent of legalization of abortion. Taussig calculated an urban abortion rate based on records of a New York City birth control clinic, and a rural abortion rate based on some numbers given to him by some doctors in Iowa. He took a guess at a mortality rate, multiplied by his strangely generated estimate of how many criminal abortions were taking place, and presto! A myth is born! At a conference* in 1942, Taussig himself apologized for using "the wildest estimates" to generate a bogus number. Although it took Taussig six years to reject his own faulty calculations, at least he did admit that he'd been wrong. Other abortion enthusiasts lacked Taussig's compunctions.
Tumblr media
Bernard Nathanson, co-founder of NARAL,** admitted that he and his associates knew that the claims of 5,000 to 10,000 criminal abortion deaths were false. They bandied them about anyway, Nathanson confessed, because they were useful. This, too, is old news -- Nathanson came clean in 1979 when he published Aborting America. The abortion lobby has had nearly three quarters of a century to drop the numbers after Taussig himself admitted that they were wrong. Abortion supporters have had over thirty years since they were outed in public for lying. Still, as Nathanson said, the number is useful. It's scary. This is why friends of Big Abortion, such as Barbara Boxer, still continue to lie. If you have to lie and scare people into joining your cause, it seems like it's time for a little quiet reflection. Now for the lying by omission, which typically involves taking fairly reliable abortion mortality numbers from before and after legalization then crediting legalization for the drop. No less prestigious organization than the Alan Guttmacher Institute uses this statistical legerdemain: "As the availability of legally induced abortion increased, mortality due to abortion dropped sharply: The number of abortion-related deaths per million live births fell from nearly 40 in 1970 to eight in 1976." The truth is that you can take virtually any time period from when public health officials first started collecting the data and you'll find that abortion mortality fell. The only exception is a strange leveling-off in the 1950s that I've been unable to account for:
Tumblr media
Are abortion advocates suggesting that somehow the loosening of abortion laws in some states in 1968 and 1969, the open gates to abortion-on-demand in New York in 1970, and Roe vs. Wade in 1973 somehow retroactively caused the fall in abortion mortality during the 1940s?
What caused abortion mortality to fall precipitously wasn't legalization. Legalization didn't even make a blip in the trends, likely because for every non-physician whose business fell away, a physician abortionist became sloppy once the risk of a prison sentence for botching an abortion was gone. I know of three erstwhile criminal abortionists -- Jesse Ketchum, Milan Vuitch, and Benjamin Munson -- who kept their noses clean prior to legalization but each went on to practice appallingly sloppy abortions that killed two patients after legalization.
What does this mean for a Post-Roe America? It means we're not going to see a huge surge in abortion deaths. It was improvements in medical care that reduced abortion mortality before legalization, and those improvements in medical care will keep abortion mortality low after Roe falls. This doesn't mean that Big Abortion won't get somebody killed and then parade the corpse around. They're pushing hard to convince vulnerable women that if there isn't a handy-dandy abortion clinic on the corner, there will be no choice but to reach for the rustiest coathanger in the closet. In times of stress, people tend to run on autopilot, so a woman who has heard nothing for years but "You'll have no choice but to resort to a dangerous abortion" will likely do just that: resort to a dangerous abortion.
The truth, though, is that everything is already in place to prevent any woman from ever dying from a botched abortion ever again. Prolife pregnancy help centers already outnumber dedicated abortion facilities three-to-one. As aging abortionists retire and seedy mills get shut down by the authorities in the wake of the Gosnell scandal, the balance will shift even further toward organizations that help women to address the issues that make them think abortion is their only choice. The abortion lobby, however, is doing everything in their power to hamstring  these resources and to maintain the illusion that if a pregnant woman is facing challenges, somebody has to die.*** There is still much work to do, but we can be ready so that when legal protection is removed from abortionists and restored to the unborn and their vulnerable mothers, Big Abortion gets shut down once and for all. Nobody -- not one mother, not one baby -- needs to die.”
- Christiana Dunigan
*I can understand why some may not believe it, however there are sources in the blog. And, if your still not convinced, there’s a good article made by Washington Post on the topic, and it actually supported an pro-choice stance.
We know what will happen, which is that women will die. Thousands of women died every year pre-Roe.”
— Leana Wen, president of Planned Parenthood, in an interview with WFAA of Dallas, March 6, 2019
“Before Roe v. Wade, thousands of women died every year — and because of extreme attacks on safe, legal abortion care, this could happen again right here in America.”
— Wen, in a tweet, April 24 “We’re not going to go back in time to a time before Roe when thousands of women died every year because they didn’t have access to essential health care.” — Wen, interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” May 22
A reader asked us to investigate this repeated claim by the president of Planned Parenthood — that “thousands of women” died every year from botched abortions before the Supreme Court in 1973 nullified antiabortion laws across the United States in Roe v. Wade.
This turned out to be an interesting inquiry, taking The Fact Checker through a tour of decades of musty academic literature. Statisticians had tried to parse data on what was, for the most part, an illegal act. Unplanned pregnancy and abortions were deeply shameful at the time, so the official statistics were not necessarily reliable indicators of mortality rates from abortion. Still, by the time Roe was issued, 17 stateshad liberalized their abortion laws, and the Centers for Disease Control was collecting solid data on abortion mortality. If Roe is overturned, a significant number of states, such as California and New York, are expected to still permit abortions, so the situation would be more akin to the period immediately before Roe.
The problem with Wen’s claim is that is derived from data that is decades old. Let’s explore.
The Facts
Erica Sackin, a Planned Parenthood spokeswoman, directed us to a 2014 policy statement issued by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG): “It is estimated that before 1973, 1.2 million U.S. women resorted to illegal abortion each year and that unsafe abortions caused as many as 5,000 annual deaths.”
There is no citation in the statement for the estimate of “as many as 5,000 annual deaths,” even though many of the other sentences are carefully documented. None of the citations around this sentence supports the figure, and there is no explanation about how it was calculated.
Kate Connors, an ACOG spokeswoman, initially referred us to a 1958 report that said “a plausible estimate of the frequency of induced abortion in the United States could be as low as 200,000 and as high as 1,200,000 per year,” adding that “there is no objective basis for the selection of a particular figure between these two estimates.”
That’s quite a range for the number of illegal abortions, indicating how fuzzy the numbers are. The ACOG took the high-end estimate for its statement. But this report contained no mortality rates or an explanation of the 5,000-death estimate, nor did any of the other material sent by Connors.
Meanwhile, Sackin also sent a variety of reports, many of which were referenced in a footnote in a document published by NARAL Pro-Choice America. One of the citations especially caught our eye: Frederick Taussig, “Abortion Spontaneous and Induced: Medical and Social Aspects,” (1936).
Why was a study from 1936 being referenced?
Taussig, who died in 1943, was a gynecologist and influential advocate of legalized abortion. In his book, he calculated that the number of deaths from abortion was between 8,000 and 10,000 a year. But it was not a very rigorous calculation, based on a mix of theory and data from the United States and Germany. Just 13 states recorded such data in 1927 and 15 in 1928. That added up to 912 deaths from abortion a year. Because the states represented 26 percent of the birth registration of the United States, Taussig multiplied it to come up with 3,508 a year. He then rounded it up to 4,000 to account for oversampling of rural areas. Then he assumed half of the deaths were concealed, so he doubled it to 8,000 and concluded it was no more than 10,000.
But he admitted that just five years earlier, he had estimated 15,000 deaths in another paper. “I am convinced my previous estimates were too high,” he wrote. A few years later, in 1942, he revised the figure yet again, down to 5,000.
The advent of antibiotics such as penicillin and imless risky. Another prominent researcher, Christopher Tietze, argued in a 1948 paper that the number of deaths from abortion was rapidly declining because of three reasons: contraceptive methods had improved so fewer women were getting pregnant, abortion providers were getting better at avoiding infections, and many lives had been saved because of the introduction of sulfa drugs and penicillin.
“It is felt, however, that the official statistics include the great majority of all deaths from abortion,” he wrote. “The outstanding fact about mortality from abortion is the steady and sometimes precipitous decline which has been observed almost everywhere. The reality of this decline cannot be doubted, and the extent of the fall is in all likelihood understated by the official statistics.”
The data collected by Tietze showed 2,677 deaths from abortion in 1933, compared with 888 in 1945, with much of the decline in septic cases associated with illegal abortions. (The numbers also include deaths from “therapeutic abortions,” permitted by law, and “spontaneous abortions.”)
By 1959, a leading researcher wrote: “Abortion is no longer a dangerous procedure. This applies not just to therapeutic abortions as performed in hospitals but also to so-called illegal abortions as done by physicians. In 1957, there were only 260 deaths in the whole country attributed to abortions of any kind. In New York City in 1921, there were 144 abortion deaths, in 1951 there were only 15.”
The writer was Mary Steichen Calderone, at the time medical director of Planned Parenthood. She attributed the decline in the mortality rate to antibiotics and the fact that 90 percent of illegal abortions were done by trained physicians.
The stigma associated with abortion does mean the numbers must be treated with caution. Misreporting on death certificates was possible, but the problem is said to have improved during the 1960s as public debate about abortion intensified. “Some 30 years ago it was judged that such deaths might number 5,000 to 10,000 per year, but this rate, even if it was approximately correct at the time, cannot be anywhere near the true rate now,” Tietze and Sarah Lewit wrote in Scientific American magazine in 1969. “The total number of deaths from all causes among women of reproductive age in the U.S. is not more than about 50,000 per year. The National Center for Health Statistics listed 235 deaths from abortion in 1965. Total mortality from illegal abortions was undoubtedly larger than that figure, but in all likelihood it was under 1,000.”
Tietze and Lewit, his spouse, were honored by Planned Parenthood in 1973with the Margaret Sanger award, the organization’s highest honor, for their research, including “identifying the effects of abortion policy on maternal health.” He died in 1984.
A 1978 study found that deaths from abortion declined even more rapidly after 1965 because of more effective forms of contraception and increased availability of legal abortion.
The CDC began collecting data on abortion mortality in 1972, the year before Roe was decided. In 1972, the number of deaths in the United States from legal abortions was 24 and from illegal abortions 39, according to the CDC.
Stanley Henshaw, who from 1979 to 2013 researched abortion statistics at the Guttmacher Institute, which favors abortion rights, said he agreed with Tietze’s assessment in 1969.
“In the 1960s, the officially recorded number of deaths from illegal induced abortion was under 300 per year. While there were undoubtedly other unreported abortion deaths, it is unlikely that the actual number was over 1,000. The figure of 5,000 to 10,000 is reasonable for the 1930s, when there were probably more abortions and less effective treatment of complications,” he said. “In my opinion, ifRoe v. Wade were overturned, women would turn to relatively safe medications that can be purchased over the Internet. There would be some deaths but probably not as many as there were in the 1960s.”
“While stigma, fear, and poor tracking mean we can never know the exact number who suffered before Roe v Wade was decided, what we do know is that even one woman’s death from abortion before it was legal is one too many," Sackin, of Planned Parenthood, said in a statement. "Abortion is health care, and it is one of the safest medical procedures there is -- there is no reason anyone’s health or life should be endangered by politicians hell-bent on keeping people from accessing this basic health care. Yet far too many politicians seem determined to take us back to the days before Roe was decided -- where abortion was virtually inaccessible and all those who could become pregnant paid the price.” The ACOG’s Connors urged The Fact Checker to contact David Grimes, a retired abortion doctor and researcher at the University of North Carolina’s medical school. “Tietze, whom I knew, readily acknowledged that his mortality estimates were just that: crude estimates. There is no way to confirm or refute them. Stated alternatively, there are no facts to be checked, only estimates, the usefulness of which can be debated,” Grimes said. “Whether the numbers of deaths pre-Roewere in the hundreds or in the thousands per year, the message for your readers is that nearly all of these deaths were entirely preventable.”
The Pinocchio Test
Wen is a doctor, and the ACOG is made up of doctors. They should know better than to peddle statistics based on data that predates the advent of antibiotics. Even given the fuzzy nature of the data and estimates, there is no evidence that in the years immediately preceding the Supreme Court’s decision, thousands of women died every year in the United States from illegal abortions.
Wen’s repeated use of this number reminds us of the shoddy data used by human trafficking opponents. Unsafe abortion is certainly a serious issue, especially in countries with inadequate medical facilities. But advocates hurt their cause when they use figures that do not withstand scrutiny. These numbers were debunked in 1969 — 50 years ago — by a statistician celebrated by Planned Parenthood. There’s no reason to use them today.”

So I hear you like goalies, goalie nesting and pain? How about this; In a world where some goalies are more likely to nest than others, Anton Khudobin doesn't. In 2016 Dobby signs with the Bruins for two years. 2017, Radulov signs with the Preds, not the Stars (unlikely but go with it.) Dobby doesn't play either game against the Preds for Boston that year, so their paths don't cross. 2017-18 season - Dobby starts the December 12th game against the Preds, and Rads scores the first goal. 1/12
I...
I’m putting this entire thing under a read-more because damn, anon, you went hard with this one
Dobby is off his game the rest of the night, and gets pulled after letting in four goals. The Bruins lose the game 5-3, and afterwards Dobby nests for the first time in years - no one knows why - not even Dobby himself - he's only ever nested once before in his entire career, and it doesn't happen again for the rest of the season. Dobby then leaves the Bruins in free agency, and signs with the Stars as their backup. He doesn't know why, but something is telling him he should do it.
December 28th 2018, the Stars are visiting the Preds, and Dobby has been given the nod to go in net. He stars to feel off during warmups, and somehow manages to keep finding Radulov on the ice, for what will be the first game they've faced each other since the BOS/NSH game where Dobby nested. The Stars don't notice that he's a little off, but Pekka Rinne - himself an old hat at nesting - does, and he also notices that Khudobin is fixating on Radulov of all people? Then the game happens.
Dobby gets a 49-save shutout in Nashville, and Pekka *knows* what's coming next. After the game he grabs someone's jersey before it can be sent for washing, and asks a member of staff to take it to the visitors locker room. "Why?" they ask, confused. "Goalie stuff." He tells them. "Make sure that they give it to Khudobin." They do, and the Stars go back to Dallas to face Detroit, and the next day announce that Khudobin is out for "undisclosed reasons" and that Oettinger has been called up.
Word on the goalie grapevine is that Khudobin is nesting again, which is unheard of - someone not known for nesting doing it twice in two years? Juuse Saros mentions that Pekka had a Preds jersey sent to the Dallas locker room, and that gets the Russian goalies talking amongst themselves. When *was* Khudobin's first recorded nesting? January 2006. Shortly after Russia lost 0-5 to Canada in the 2006 World U20 Championship - aka the last time Radulov and Khudobin played on a team together.
Armed with this knowledge, they use the secret Russian NHL phone tree/gossip circle to get a hold of Radulov and tell him "You need to talk to Khudobin. It's important." So when they next have a window of time where they're both free, Radulov calls, and Dobby is shifty af on the phone, and pretends not to know what Rads is talking about, which makes him very suspicious. Once again the phone tree/gossip circle comes into play and he manages to get a hold of the Stars two Russian players
Nichushkin and Gurianov (who is up temporarily), Nichuskin doesn't know much, but Gurianov says he overheard Bishop saying something to the goalie coaches about a "nest-mate". Armed with this information, Radulov goes up to Rinne during their next practise to ask about it, but Rinne tells him "Not at the rink. Come to my house after practise." So Radulov goes, and Pekka sits him down with a coffee and explains nest-mates. In short, it's someone a goalie feels a deep connection to.
A longer explanation is that a goalies nest-mate is their ideal nesting partner. Someone they feel safe with, and can trust to look after them in their most vulnerable moments. Someone they know will protect them. "Here's the funny thing about nesting goalies." Pekka tells him. "Certain things can trigger the nesting instinct. A major change or upset, like losing an important game or series. Perhaps even having to play and defend their net against 'attacks' from their nest-mate.
Radulov just sits there and stares at Rinne, who is fixing him with a piercing stare. "Do you understand" And Radulov is *convinced* It isn't him. Fast forward to the playoffs, and it's the Preds vs the Stars. Dobby doesn't play, but Radulov finds himself paying attention to him when he can, and often finds Khudobin looking back. The games happen, the Preds are eliminated in 6 and the Stars are off to the second round. In the handshake line Radulov notices Dobby is off and pays attention.
In the off-season Radulov meets with management asks for a trade from Nashville. He is later dealt to New Jersey with P.K. Subban for Steven Santini, Jeremy Davies and draft picks. New Jersey then trade Radulov to the Stars in exchange for Connor Carrick and a couple more draft picks. Once he's informed that the trades have gone through, Radulov finds out through the phone tree/gossip circle where Khudobin is and goes to his front door.
He knocks on the door, and once he's in front of Dobby he opens his arms and says "Sorry I've been an idiot. I'm on your team for next year now, and so if you need someone to help protect your nest, I'd like to offer." Dobby stares at him, before throwing himself at Radulov and burying his face into Radulov's neck. Then, when the 2019-20 season starts and the Stars get into a 1-7-1 losing streak, and Khudobin nests again, Radulov is there to help keep him and his nest safe.
Making sure that Dobby knows how much he is loved and appreciated. This ends up being the shortest, easiest nesting Dobby has ever had, and it's all down to the fact that Radulov pulled his head out of the clouds and saw what was in front of him. 12/12 SORRY THIS WAS SO LONG, AND THANK YOU FOR TAKING THIS JOURNEY WITH ME.

Let's talk about Eric Effiong
Let's be honest Eric's storyline and characterization is one of the most appealing out of all the characters in Sex Education periodt. A true gay, fierce, Drag QUEEN and I feel like ranting about this amazing force of nature. (Spoilers. Duh.)
When I saw the trailer for Sex Education it didnt even hit me that Eric was gay until I read the synopsis. Was just like "Oh I wonder which one of these three mains are the gay one people keep talking about" even after I saw him in drag like a dumbass 😣😂. Personally im glad we've reached a point where gay guys aren't overly feminine and even the brightest colours won't differ a character from the rest (unless I'm just a blind bish and he was obviously gay from the trailer) ei 👏🏾 ther 👏🏾 way; his character was refreshing when I started watching the show. I immediately clicked with him and knew what every look he gave or hand gesture he did meant. Felt nice. When Adam pushed him into the locker for the first time and started with the heterohomoerotic bs I knew that Adam had a raging boner for Eric and was another internalized homophobic bully™ and wasn't really excited for what was to come but I knew it was coming and tbh I liked it in the end.
Eric and Otis' friendship is so pure. Like?!? Get me a straight supportive bestie lilke Otis? Ik they fought but even then Otis was respectful and kept his boundaries and let Eric go through the motions before immediately belting into an apology at the first chance he got. Their dancing scene?!? Iconic. The fact that Eric sees Otis' house as safe and another home?!? Iconic. Otis going drag with Eric to watch an LGBT+ movie as a TRADITION (meaning they've done it numerous times)?!?! Iconic. The fact that Otis was straight up ditching Eric and Eric STILL tolerated him and let him do his thing without too much pressure!?! The most iconic of them all. Just pure love and respect all around.
I am so proud of Erics growth over the course of the season starting from a naive and scared gay doormat to facing homophia and getting beat up by those assholes on his birthday no less to losing his best friend and becoming depressed to channeling that anger into defending himself when people tried him to getting his sparkle back and coming back more fierce that ever before.
Speaking of him getting his sparkle back lets talk about that and why that scene is so important. A random guy asked Eric for directions and Eric noticed his nails were polished and the guy was wearing earrings and he was a big ole black dude. He was like Eric. When Eric noticed that the guy was out, loud, glamorous and proud he immediately switched back into the bright colourful and wonderfully gay Eric we all know and love.
THIS IS WHY REPRESENTATION MATTERS!!!!
It shows people that its okay to be who they actually are and inspires those who are lost to find or return to their true selves. Representation isn't just some offhand thing to throw on a character last minute. And even if you can relate to other characters who arent like you, it is always an amazing feeling to have a character that IS like you. It turned Eric from a popularity seeking doormat into a hurricane with 6 inch heels who was ready to straight up beat down a bully he's had for 4 years. It even inspired him to go back to church and rejoin a community that he closed off. That's exactly how it feels to have someone successful in the media and your life to look up to. Eric only interacted with that man for a few minutes but those few minutes changed his life for the better. So that's a lovely reminder for all who love to bash representation.
Back tracking to Eric's dull colourless period after the attack and his fight with Otis. It was saddening to see one of the brightest characters go dull and even the school felt it. He turned from a guy who rarely stood up for himself and what he wanted into the sass master he reserved only for his friends. All of his built up anger was released causing him to explode on Mr Hendricks (who is adorable tbh and just trying to do his best) and Anwar (I was proud of that punch you go glenn co co) and he even sounded off on his dad who he's usually passive aggressive to at worst. Just goes to show that the happiest faces can harbor the biggest pains and can snap. Moral of the story? Protect the happy few.
Eric also has a great family. Like that obviously know Erics gay and wears dresses because its all right there in his room which his parents enter at their leisure and while it seems that they're a bit homophobic its revealed that they (Erics dad at least) just wants Eric to be safe as he's already a target for being black and apart of an immigant family. He accepts Eric for who he is and what he does he just doesnt want anyone else to give him shit for it and if that's not one of the sweetest things in this world idek what is. Eric and his dad was probably one of my favorite dynamics in the show and watching his dad slowly fully accept that his son was strong and able to stand for himself he was able to become stronger too. This dynamic is important because I never see any gay black characters have a close relationship with their fathers and it was very heartwarming to watch.
Now onto Erics love life. He has a crush on the highschools other only gay guy Anwar who's the typical mean sassy gay we've all come to expect in highschool dramas. Otis saying that Eric doesnt have to have a crush on the only other openly gay guy at school was such a mood as its commonly shown that any gays in close proximity should get together. When Eric punched him I internally went "Finally!" Because all those jeers were becoming annoying. I'm glad Anwar got to come out to his mum over it though. And straight up told the audience that Eric didn't like feminine guys (alluding to him and Adams eventual clean up scene as of we didn't see it coming already).
Moving on to Adam tho, like I said we all been knew that this
Tumblr media
was indeed coming and even though I hate the bully x bullied trope I still ended up liking it and hoping that Adam would change. The building up to that kiss was long awaited from episode 1 straight through to 8 with all the longing looks that Adam kept side glancing Eric with and the face cupping and the growls and the lingering touches. I just kept going sthdjksksbslaldbd when one of those moments happened followed shortly after with disgust because gays falling for their abuser is washed up but then immediately going back to jajaklamabsldkd because im shipping trash so 🤷🏿. Eric stepping to Adam in at the ball was one of the most iconic scenes of the show (along with the "Its My Vagina" scene) and the exchange between him and Adam gave be actual chills. The tension was THICCCC. Erics OUTFIT to the ball gave me chills 😭😭 dude came to slay and had everyone at that school proper shook and I honestly could NOT be more proud. I was hoping Adam would become a better person over the course of the season but nope so hopefully they cover all the issues that Adam has in season 2 and properly give him a redeption arc cuz he's still a trashy pos he's just a disaster bi on top of it. (Adam immediately going to suck Eric off is confidence I can only dream of achieving 💀💀) The lab scene was also cute but made me mad because how could Adam look scared, confident and still be a douchebag all in the span of a few seconds was beyond me. A+ acting on Connor Swindells part. I can see why Adam would have to stay in the closet and keep their... relationship?? a secret because it seems like Headmaster Groff would be a homophobic piece of shit and would add to the ever growing list of things Adam did wrong. Even so it doesn't excuse the fact that Adam is in fact a bully and Eric deserves much better. Was sad seeing Adam being driven off from Eric in the end tho. Eric thought that Adam didn't want to see him at all and was probably heartbroken and probably thinks Adam left because of him (my poor baby 😭😭). I feel bad for Adam too because he was just starting to express himself and was at the beginning of a redemption arc when he was just wisked away from the boy he's loved for what seems to be a very long time. I just want my boys to be happy and non toxic and I wish their relationship and them all the best in Season 2.
Eric Effiong is my favorite character in the show and I really want to thank Ncuti Gatwa for portraying him so well and for the shows writers who gave him a very fleshed out character with an amazing storyline and conclusion. His growth was incredible and his strength is immeasurable. I'm 100% certain that he will be a character the community remembers for years to come. Patiently now waiting on what's to come in Season 2 💙🙌🏾.
