I personally don’t mind the reveal that Aegon the Conqueror was motivated by dragon dreams about tptwp/war for the dawn; I actually like it quite a lot. Mostly because I like how Aegon’s legacy basically becomes: the unification of the realm and its peoples (a wholly positive thing) AND the iron throne (which has become a symbol of war and destruction). Aegon brought the realm together, but he also created that stupid pointy chair. The irony is that this chair, made of swords from all over the realm thus being a representation of all the different peoples in Aegon’s new kingdom, is meant to be the symbol of peace and unity. But in the current story, it’s become the driving force of disunity. And now hundreds of years later, now that the real threat that Aegon dreamed of has actually arrived, the realm is much too focused on who gets to sit on the silly chair more than anything else. Which imo would fall in quite nicely with GRRM’s deconstruction of prophecy, how people interpret it, and the ripple effects from those actions.

[Cat, to Brienne:]"And Arya, well . . . Ned's visitors would oft mistake her for a stableboy if they rode into the yard unannounced. [...]" -Catelyn VII, aCoK
ok, this is another thing that makes me feel like i'm taking crazy pills bc i never see it talked about with all the implications behind it. so if anyone is more versed in androgynous medievalish clothing, feel free to correct me here, but my thinking is if unannounced visitors mistook arya for a stableboy, would that not mean she was wearing boyish riding garb, trousers and all? bc if she was running around with messy hair and a dirty gown, wouldn't she more likely be seen as a female servant? if my reading is not wildly offbase that does not jibe with the idea of arya being terrorized all day by both septa mordane and her mother to be more ladylike. rather, this limited freedom to be mistaken for a servant could suggest that pragmatic catelyn was picking her battles with arya too, not forcing her to always appear prim and proper on days when they were not expecting any guests to see her. catelyn "despaired of ever making a lady of" arya, though neither she nor ned could abandon the goal, which could mean a more measured approach, not exhausting herself by going after arya for every unladylike move she made, especially when she was still a prepubescent child. the quote above starts a paragraph which ends with catelyn feeling "as though a giant hand were squeezing her chest" after saying she thought arya was dead like bran and rickon, after no word of her since ned's arrest. in that context of grief, i think all her words about arya should be read as coming with bittersweet fondness, just being honest about their problems, not sugarcoating any of it.
but let's compare catelyn's trials with arya, including her often running around looking like a stableboy, to arya's interactions with lady smallwood, somehow seen as an even better mother-figure than her own mother, whom arya found easier to comply with bc of her kinder manner. first of all, lady smallwood's efforts to make arya ladylike included two baths and two dresses in one day after arya and gendry ruined the first dress, before finally giving her boy's riding clothes to leave in. i would argue a full second bath was unneeded when they could have just washed the dirt off her face and hands, and, furthermore, that both the dresses were an impractical waste when she knew arya would be riding back out with the outlaws and could not look a highborn lady when doing so. idt pragmatic catelyn would have gone to all that trouble just to make arya look ladylike for a few hours when there were no other ladies around. as for the claim that arya found it easier to comply with her? no, that's just flat-out demonstrably false. the text says she was "forced" into a tub and "they insisted" she wear girl's clothes. what room did she have to refuse as a hostage in a stranger's castle? she certainly felt no compunction about fighting gendry in the acorn dress she'd been forced into, and only felt bad about it afterward when lady smallwood talked about her dead son.
now, let's move on to the only canon quotes we have from cat to/about arya in arya's pov.
"Sansa's work is as pretty as she is," Septa Mordane told their lady mother once. "She has such fine, delicate hands." When Lady Catelyn had asked about Arya, the septa had sniffed. "Arya has the hands of a blacksmith." -Arya I, aGoT Her father had hunted boar in the wolfswood with Robb and Jon. Once he even took Bran, but never Arya, even though she was older. Septa Mordane said boar hunting was not for ladies, and Mother only promised that when she was older she might have her own hawk. -Arya V, aCoK Her mother used to say she could be pretty if she would just wash and brush her hair and take more care with her dress, the way her sister did. -The Blind Girl(/Arya I), aDwD
in the first quote we don't know catelyn's reaction to septa mordane's rude disapproval of arya, certainly not if she agreed with it. what we do know is she was not interested in only hearing endless praise of sansa and wanted to hear if arya had made any progress. although admittedly that was a vain hope, which ignored arya's true strengths and the possibility that she could never master and enjoy needlework the way catelyn did.
the second quote better shows the difference between arya's mother and her septa. catelyn does not criticize arya for wanting to hunt boar nor dismiss her interest. instead she tries to mollify arya and accomodate her desire with the promise of a future hunting hawk. that this was a promise, not just an idle thought, suggests this would have happened in due time and could have been a bonding activity for them if the plot hadn't intervened.
the third quote is definitely a backhanded compliment and doubly unhelpful in comparison to sansa, but at least it shows catelyn did not think one of her own daughters was ugly. she thought both were pretty even tho sansa was the more admired as traditionally beautiful, and she thought arya's looks were held back by her messy hair and clothes. (useful to remember for those fans who like to keep track of how many characters called arya pretty vs. how many call her ugly.)
yes, it is a bad sign that arya genuinely wondered if her mother would want her back, dirtier than ever in her disguise as a peasant boy. their relationship definitely had faults which the adult parent must bear responsibility for. but we must remember that arya also worried if robb would pay a ransom for her, and was most ashamed about the people she'd killed, and couldn't bear the thought of ned knowing all she'd done. and we must keep in mind that even ned never openly gainsaid septa mordane on-page either, and that arya desperately wanted to renunite with her mother and felt confident gendry could stay with her if she vouched for him with her mother. that confidence would seem completely unwarranted if their mother/daughter relationship was as utterly bad as some fans make out.

I really don’t think we should be treating morality as a linear thing in ASOIAF because what often happens is that we start to stray from the actual conversations that we need to be having regarding the depths of making a moral choice and even the circumstances involved. To try and blankly paint any one character as the “most morally good” isn’t really taking us anywhere. And it certainly isn’t helpful when people in this fandom want to try and prove that characters are “grey” but not moral (what does that even mean??) because they did one “bad” thing. If ASOIAF stans were to have their way, then:
Jon is not a morally good person because he threatened Gilly
Dany cannot be considered to be compassionate because she sanctioned torture against the wine seller’s daughters
Arya cant be good because she has killed people
and so on, and so on….
But this is such a draining, and oft times frustrating, conversation to have because you see just how shallow the above listed examples are? Readers are listing only singular instances across a narrative that spans thousand and thousands of pages, and there’s absolutely no context involved. Why did Jon threaten Gilly? Why did Dany resort to torture and at one point did she do it? Who did Arya kill and why? And why do those singular instances negate everything else in their arcs?
What usually happens when we have the 12847647282th unnecessary conversation about who is the “most good” character in ASOIAF is that we start getting blanket statements with no elaboration. And the only people ever considered are Ned, Brienne, and Davos, and sometimes the children like Shireen or Tommen. Mind you, Ned and Davos are not perfect or without their own faults either; much has been said about Ned’s abilities as a father and it’s implied that Davos was not entirely faithful to his wife. And based on her current arc, Brienne will surely have to make morally tough choices regarding oaths and knightly honor. Plus theres the irony of including literal children when they have not been put in situations where they actually have to make morally difficult choices and live with the consequences.
ASOIAF shows us that people who are capable of incredible kindness and compassion are also capable of doing unpleasant things.
Jon threatened Gilly….because he was trying to save another child whom he believed to be at risk of human sacrifice(!!) and was stuck between a rock and a hard place. But why does that singular instance negate the fact that his arc has been about him standing up for the “lesser than”? Why does that negate the fact that he stood up for Sam against a superior when there was nothing to gain for him? Why does it negate the fact that he went out of his way to equip Arya in a way that society would have deemed inappropriate? Why does it negate the fact that he dedicated the entirety of his time as Lord Commander to fight an institution that had upheld racism/xenophobia for millennia? Why should we filter out all those moments of kindness, compassion, and deep empathy that Jon has even without him thinking?
Dany sanctioned torture….but she was trying to solve the murder of an innocent victim AND this brought her no joy. But why does that negate the fact that when she gained unimaginable power, she could’ve high tailed to Westeros to use it to her benefit and become queen, but instead chose to stay in Essos where she has no personal responsibility just so she could fight the institutional evil that is slavery? Why does it negate Dany who went to personally treat plague victims at great risk to herself?
Arya has killed some….but it’s in self defense or in defense of others who are disenfranchised. But why does this negate that she is one of the few people in the series how goes out of her way to show kindness and friendship to those who are not as economically or politically advantaged as she is (e.g., Mycah)? Why does it negate that she took fellow slaves under her protection when she herself had little power to fight for her own survival at Harrenhall? Why does it negate that when she saw those caged soldiers whom she was angry with for their actions, instead of leaving them to die instead offered them the only kindness she could at the moment: a drink of water?
Trying to have arguments about morality but stripping everything down to ‘x character did y bad thing (regardless of context) and that’s why they can’t be good’ is, to be blunt, ridiculous. And it isn’t a particularly interesting way to engage with the text. Character journeys, especially well written ones, are rarely ever in a straight line. There’s amazing highs and terrible lows. GRRM gives us so many characters like Jon, Dany, Arya, Sansa, Ned, etc. who even in their lows, have gleams of compassion and exceptional kindness. It doesn’t do anyone any good to filter those moments out to make the books more digestible; and I’m being a little generous here, because so many readers have a very shallow level of engagement with the series and it shows in conversation. And we also shouldn’t pit these characters unfairly against those who have never been in similarly difficult situations that required them to make hard choices. Because when we do, we start to completely miss the point all together.

Cry, no Tony Stark requests? Saaaaaaddddd. How about Tony Stark x Idiot Twink Healer boi (maybe a poly with Spidey or perhaps healer boi is a sugar baby??) (Could be dirty haha, up to ya, bro)
Well Anon you are the first person in my blog to ever request Tony stark thank you for requesting! Im going to do sfw headcaons plus nsfw! And headcaons with sugar baby
Hope you enjoy it! A/n= Age name! but for the sake of this fic young 20s!
TONY STARK X IDIOT TWINK READER
🤖 He was beyond shocked when he founded out you were the healer of the team. I mean he was so surprised. You didn't look like you belonged in the Avengers he really thought someone brought their younger brother to work.
🤖 When Nick gives you a proper welcoming Tony was the first to ask how old are you. "I'm twenty two!" (or A/n but the reader has to be in his young twenties)
🤖 Tony wasn't the only one who was wondering about your age since he heard other gasp in the room.
🤖 "But everyone Y/n will just help yall with only the missions I choose for him. Since he is way too young to be going out there with y'all and he doesn't have too much experience fighting aliens like Spiderman. So Stark he's under your care.
🤖 At first he thought you were gonna be a pain in his ass like Peter and he was far from wrong. You were far from a genius like Peter some may even call you dumb.
🤖 "So thats your heart? Can I hear it beep please? Or does it race when you see someone you like?" You ask him looking at his chest with no shame.
🤖 Thats when he realized your gonna be a handful.
🤖 He always finds you with Hulk or Thor. Since Hulk is an idiot like you y'all two click instantly even Bruce is only mad for a while you found your ways to enjoy Hulk's loud and dumb presence
🤖 With Thor hes always injured from his mission so you see him in the medbay quite often so you make an effort to know him more. One time Tony walked in the medbay seeing you on Thor lap listening to his stories as you clean up his wound.
🤖 Since that incident with Thor. Tony never lets you out of his sight when y'all two aren't even dating yet
🤖 He always ask Nick how the hell did you become a healer when you sometimes forget how to add some easy numbers or when you forget your avenger and you get paid a whole LOT and you ask to borrow some money from others.
🤖 Thats actually how he founded out you were a sugar baby. One day him and Nat went to a cafe just to hangout when they saw you with two men times your age. One of them had envelopes with cash in them sliding you one every once in a while as you talked to the other man.
🤖 They watch you like a hawk across the whole cafe. They see the man you're talking to and place his hand on your inner thigh too close to your crotch and kiss your cheek bye. As he leave the other man he was with hands you the rest of envelopes kissing your forehead bye.
🤖 You check the envelops making sure its all of the money before stuffing all of them in your bag paying the check before leaving.
🤖 Before you could leave Nat pulls you by your arm sitting you down at her table. "Oh. Hi Mr Stark! I just finished reading the math book you gave me!" "That's good, but we have a question." Tony says gesturing to him and Nat. "What is it?" "Who were those guys you were just sitting with?" Nat asks not pressuring Y/n. "That's my sugar daddy Ben with his husband! Great couple." The two freeze and spare each other a look. "Lets finish this conversation at Stark tower'" Nat says paying for the bill.
🤖 Tony takes you into his room sitting you down on the bed ask he sits on a chair across the room. "What do they want from a young guy like you?" Tony asks with a hint of jealousy. "Mostly company. But sometimes group sex. They pay extra if I let them double penetrate me." Y/n answers way too honestly having no dignity to hide anything.
🤖 "Y/n why do you need the money if your Avenger?" Stark asks.
"Well because i'm a part time avenger y'know? Nick knows my parents well and promised to protect me no matter what. That's why I never go on big missions with y'all... Most action I got on the field was trying to calm down Hulk. Kinda sucks. So I don't get paid like all of you." The room became silent until Y/n says something again.
"Its not that bad. I get to help all of you and it makes my day better. But i'm a sugar baby so I just have food and water and money for clothes and extra things. Lots of people tell me they would pay to fuck me or just pay to spend time with me. So why not net them."
"Be my sugar baby."
"Wha?"
🤖 Y'all's relationship was strictly sugar baby and daddy sometimes more like friends with benefits. He didn't ban you from seeing other people just gave you rules. Like no more fucking they can only watch you fuck yourself or touch yourself. He grew possessive of you always marking your neck just in case another sugar mommy or daddy tries to make you theirs.
🤖 The thing that changed your little agreement when you gotten to badly injured you might had died. It was supposed to be a simple day watch when you got attacked by powerful villains and almost found dead. You were able to take them down but almost got yourself killed.
🤖 You gotten lectures from everyone in the team even Thor lectured you and Nick was busting your balls. But no lecture compared to Stark's. One minute he was going off on you about being safe and prepared next minute you two are naked making love.
🤖 Yes making love.
🤖 It wasn't your guys typical fuck and quickey. No this time everything was emotional. The kisses lasted, the gentleness with every thrust, the long lasting words of affirmation. This time Tony helped Y/n to see he was more than just a sugar baby. This time the sex meant something deeply to the other.
🤖 A few days after that was a bit awkward for the both of you. Nick even gave Tony the longest talk about what he would he to do him if he breaks your little dumb heart. Finally the both of you get officially together and Tony is quick to show you off to the world posting and talking about you with every chance he gets.
🤖 Sometimes you'll forget your dating and asks people is he single like your drunk or something but your completely serious and sober.
🤖 "Hey is Ironman single I have a crush on him and I wanna ask him out..." You ask Hawkeye and he gives you "are you serious look."
THE END!

For the Sydcarmy enjoyers, I didn't watch the show ("The Bear" by the way) yet, but as soon as I had seen this commentary, Jon and Sansa jumped at me.
The dynamic felt so familiar. It is literally Jon and Sansa co-ruling and, of course, Sansa's gorgeous blue eyes
(Ps: help me find the source of the last GIF, so I could credit the creator)

Episode 3 of Dead Boy Detectives is the best one yet. The murder is absolutely brutal, but it's tightly plotted and has so many great character moments throughout.
This is the most attached to Charles I've felt so far. He's currently furthest down my list of favourites out of the main cast, but his performance was really moving this episode. I also loved how it highlighted his relationships both with Crystal and Edwin, and the jealousy that Edwin feels there. Interesting that that jealousy seems to go both ways, too, with Charles being the last to leave Edwin and Monty alone at the end.
Edwin and Charles are unlikely friends in a lot of ways, but I do buy it, especially when he occasionally makes Edwin smile. Here, Edwin is confronted with the fact that he actually doesn't know many of the deeper parts of Charles' life, and that he maybe hasn't shared all of his own. Really nicely done.
Edwin's sexuality crisis continues to be really compelling. I actually adore his dynamic with Monty. I know he's literally a plant by Esther, but their tiny interactions so far have so much chemistry. I also have Thoughts on why Edwin is more open to him than the Cat King, and it's the plausible deniability of it all. The Cat King was extremely upfront about what he wanted from Edwin, and Edwin could not quite bring himself to admit he even understood what that was. Whereas with Monty he's able to retreat behind his protests that "he is a boy and I am a boy, if anything he just enjoys ghosts".
Also! Crsytal and Edwin are becoming friends!!! Crystal's my second favourite character and I'm so happy they're warming up to each other. Edwin is such a spiky character but I love him and want everyone else to love him. On that note, him being understanding to Niko about her trauma also made me very happy. Edwin is not budging as my favourite character!
Small things:
Esther continues to have the best, most over the top performance. Perfect, no notes.
Niko yaoi enjoyer and general weirdo, I love her so much <3
