Princess Zara Backstory
So a while back someone asked if I had a backstory for Princess Zara from the videogame Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey
I didn't at the time but thinking it over since I think I've found a good fit within my DisneyVerse
Tumblr media
I knew I wanted to do a take on Zelena from OUAT since I already had her parents and sister, but since Theodora from Oz the Great and Powerful is the DisneyVerse version of the Wicked Witch of the West she couldn't be that, but I think Zara fits nicely. Greek color scheme, Z name, motivated by jealousy, ect.
So in my DisneyVerse Zara is the second child of Corinne and Henri, unexpected and unplanned as they meant to have no further children who could be in danger from a vengeful Rumplestiltskin, per the terms of their last  bargain
Desperate to keep her safe, they end up meeting the Enchantress through her friendship with Hélène, and she agrees to take the child under her care to hide her from Rumplestiltskin, knowing it might be her only chance
Zara is brought up ignorant of her past under the Enchantress's  rather cold care--she never was very good with children-- and is a lonely, often angry, little girl, who dreams of another life, one where she feels important and wanted, often lashing out against her distant guardian in order to gain her attention
When she exhibits a talent for magic, she hopes this will bring the Enchantress to pay more attention to her, or at least bring her esteem in the eyes of others
But though the  Enchantress trains her somewhat, she is still critical of how Zara's temper gets away from her ('refusing to learn those Princess Virtues')
Eventually, fed up with her life, Zara uses her magic to run away from the Enchantress's magically hidden home--which unfortunately leads her right into the clutches of Rumplestiltskin
The imp tells her a twisted version of her origin, making her believe her mother abandoned her in favor of her sister Princess Regine
Heartbroken and bitter over what she sees as her stolen life, Zara begins to learn dark magic from the imp, and soon begins her vendetta of ensuring that if she can't be a princess, no one can…

The meanest left hook in BatB stage history
Me: I've seen almost every rendition of Beauty and the Beast on stage. Everything amazes me, but in terms of plot, nothing surprises me. BatB Ballet (2022): Lumiere throws hands with the Enchantress and wins. Me: ...wut

ch 4- If I Can't Love Her
After exiting the dungeons, Beast and Belle found the man of wax waiting for them at the bottom of the stairs. With Lumiere following in tow, The Beast led the eternal guest through the winding halls of the castle. With almost no light to guide their way, it was easy to get lost in a place like this. The decor was dated, but Belle recognized it as a baroque style, with gothic inspiration. She'd read about this type of architecture before, but had never seen it in person. The castle was unlike anything she'd ever seen. And though it was dated, everything still seemed maintained somehow. There wasn't a speck of dust to be found.
Who was in charge of the upkeep? She thought. It certainly wasn't the monster before her. And the candlestick Person? Behind them didn't seem to have hands...
Tumblr media
Though Belle admired the haunting beauty of the castle, she felt as if she was being watched. Even the smallest sconces lining the walls had faces carved into them. It was almost unsettling.
What was most definitely unsettling, though, was the hall of armor, where as she walked, the heads of the statuesque knights seemed to turn and follow her. No, not seemed. They were definitely watching her.
When The Beast spoke, she jumped. His husk voice nearly matched the decorum that surrounded them, she thought. Luckily, the person of wax was close enough to catch her in case she tripped. She felt almost comforted by the soft touch of bronze that supported her back. At least they didn't have claws...
"I- Uh..." The Beast stammered as he realized he'd frightened her. Again. "The Castle is your home now, so you're free to wander where you'd like. The kitchens, the ballrooms, the study, even the gardens." He found himself listing the places he knew off the top of his head, though he realized his memory of the palace wasn't quite what it used to be. It'd been so long since he'd really left his quarters...
"Everywhere except the West Wing."
Belle wasn't fully paying attention to his words, but more of the occasional lisp that formed when the creature spoke.
"Why?" She asked casually. "What's in the West Wing?"
"It is none of your concern." The Beast's voice was stern and defensive.
"Is it dangerous?" Belle had noticed the occasional cracks in the walls, as if the very foundation of the place was struggling. Every speck of dust was swept away, but there was no hiding that.
"No, but-"
"Then why is it-" She knew better than to have pushed him to tell her why, but Belle was just as stubborn as he was. And as far as she knew, he didn't have a good answer as to why.
The Beast turned and faced her, looming over her small frame.
"It is forbidden. You are never to set foot there. Do you understand?"
Her voice caught in her throat. He was definitely getting defensive. And just like an animal, defense meant violence.
"Do you understand?" He stepped closer to her, so they were only mere inches from each other. Only inches from ripping her apart, she thought.
"Yes!" She cried before he could lay a hand on her.
The Beast looked up to meet the disapproving gaze of the waxed figure behind her. Lumiere was shaking his head, reminding him that he was supposed to woo her- not scare her into submission.
With an annoyed huff, The Beast spun back around and led his new guest up the stairs, into the East wing. Luckily, Lumiere had spread the word of the girl, and the entire east wing was spruced up just for her. It had been the Queen's wing when the prince was merely a boy, and was completely untouched. Until today.
Somber memories of his mother danced around the group as they entered this part of the castle. What seemed to be men, women, and children built of wax lined the halls, their candles all lit. It seemed Lumiere pulled out all the stops when it came to preparing this wing for her, Beast thought. It looked completely different from the rest of the gloomy castle.
Once the group arrived at the Queen's suite, The Beast hesitated before opening the door for his guest. Much to his surprise, the double doors opened on their own, revealing a bedroom glittering in gold details and the finest furnishings on this side of the globe.
The sight was all too familiar.
"This," He stuttered once more. "This is your suite. If you need anything, anything at all, my servants with attend to you. All you need to do is ask."
Belle couldn't believe her eyes. All of this hidden beauty and wealth, just sitting stagnant in the woods outside her village... It took her breath away. She stepped into the room (though she could hardly call it a bedroom- it was the size of her father's cottage) and ogled at the furnishings. The fireplace. The wardrobe. The bed... The bed. It was twice, no, three times the size of hers at home.
She'd read a story before, about two poor friends who were offered a mansion of their own. The girls were given all the food they could eat, elegant clothes, enough for them to never worry about money again. But in the end, it was a trap, set by an evil sorceress.
That is what Belle felt now.
It was all so beautiful, but she wasn't here of her own choice. She was a prisoner in a beautiful, golden cage. Her eyes filled with tears as she kept her back to her captor, who menacingly filled the doorframe. How long before she was his servant? His meal? Were the candle people his prisoners too? How long before her skin became wax as well?
The Beast watched as she admired the suite. She stuck out from it all. Not because of her simple clothing or her disheveled hair, but something else. He couldn't quite understand what is was though, nor would he have time to figure it out, before a nagging voice whispered to him.
"Dinner," It said. "Invite the girl to dinner." Lumiere nudged his master from below, suggestively motioning toward their new guest.
Beast cleared his throat. "One more thing. Each night, you will join me for dinner."
This demand was enough to enrage Belle. Finally, an excuse to let out her frustrations. All her fears of what he'd do to her as his prisoner were gone. He'd taken everything from her in a matter of seconds. What more could he do to torment her?
"Dinner?" She scoffed as she faced him. "You've taken me as your prisoner and you want to have dinner with me?"
The Beast was not expecting a response.
"What if I refuse?" She challenged him. "Hm?"
The thought of him mauling her was more pleasant than dining with him. The sheer audacity for him to ask this of her, on top of everything, made her laugh.
But this mocking laughter only angered him more. How was he supposed to fall in love with her? Or worse, her fall in love with him?
She saw him as an animal, a monster. That was clear. So perhaps he needed to play the part. On all fours, he leapt toward her and stopped directly in front of her, his fangs mere inches away from her face.
"You will join me for dinner." He snarled in a hushed voice. "That is not a request!"
She had no rebuttal for him. No argument. No challenging one-liners. She was clearly out of her depth, and though she'd volunteered to stay, she wished more than anything that she was back home. Safe. Actually, she'd prefer the forest wolves. At least they'd kill her quick instead of dining with her first.
Frozen in fear, she had no choice but to meet his icy gaze. Once he was satisfied with her silence, The Beast raised back onto his feet and left the room, slamming the double doors behind him. He left his servants behind as he made his way toward the West Wing. Just as the East was a different atmosphere, the West was as well- though in a much more horrific way. The tapestries that lined the hallways were shredded and torn, the paintings ripped apart, the mirrors smashed. The typical few side table and plinths that once held vases and busts of previous kings were smashed to pieces, their faces and wooden limbs broken and scattered onto the cold floor.
As The Beast entered his suite, the furnishings here were in a similar state. As the furnishings in the East seemed alive, the ones here were no more. They unfortunately had fallen victim to the Beast's anger in the early days of his curse. And, of course, looming over everything was the painted portrait of his past self. Claw marks stretched over the painting, leaving nothing but a mangled face in their wake.
The only light that illuminated in the shadows of the West Wing was the ominous light of the enchanted rose, hidden under a bell jar. This is where The Beast spent his mornings, his days, and his nights. And this is where he would remain on this very evening, he'd decided. That rose, the symbol of his deterioration, the object that took his life from him... How ironic it was that the most beautiful thing in this room, was the thing slowly killing him. With every fallen petal came a world of pain, and a small part of the once-prince died. Luckily, he had some time before another one would fall.
His eyes fell to the mirror, another "gift" of his curse. With this enchanted mirror, he could see anything he desired. Whether that was memories from his past, or a peek into the village. He could even see what his life would've been like if he hadn't been cursed. That was the cruelest vision of all. He was able to see exactly how he would have aged. And just how much he would've looked like his father...
Instead, The Beast picked up the mirror, and shut his eyes before he could see his current reflection. "Show me the girl."
The mirror obeyed, and illuminated with an image of Belle. She sat on the bed, and was cleaning the blood from her leg. Even through the mirror, he could hear the shrill voice of the wardrobe behind her, consoling her and offering rags to wrap her wound with.
They'd only met for a few moments before he'd hurt her. How awful was that? Finally, a chance to break free from the curse, and he'd blown it. And he'd be stuck with her. Forever. He could let her go free, but that would just be embarrassing. Emasculating. To make such a fuss only to let her go in the end? The Beast watched and admired the beauty of his prisoner, before he felt a cold chill run down his spine.
"She is beautiful, isn't she?" The voice of The Enchantress echoed from behind him. He could hear the sly smile in her voice as she taunted him.
The Enchantress, Feya, often made her visits after a petal has fallen. In her words, she enjoyed "tracking his progress" on breaking her spell. But from his perspective, he believed she enjoyed his suffering.
"Feya..." He sighed, already annoyed by her presence. She stepped around him and held her finger under his chin, taunting him to look up at her.
"What, my beast? Do you not enjoy the gift I brought you?" Her voice was filled with glee. "That poor old man, he would have perished out in the cold. What a blessing it was he found your silly castle." She stroked the hair on his face before snatching the mirror from his claws and walking with it.
Of course. She'd led them here.
"And how convenient. His only daughter? Sacrificing herself to rescue him?"
"Stop it." Beast held his head in his hands.
"What, Beastie? No 'thank you'?" She cackled. "I did you a favor!" Feya slammed down the mirror in front of him. "She's even your type! Small, beautiful, and foolish enough to agree to an eternity with you!"
"Feya, please stop this." The Beast's voice was shaky as he plead with her. Finding the strength to make eye contact, he begged once more. "Please..."
The Enchantress tilted her head and stroked his misshapen face. "You should have married me when you had the chance." Though they were simple, her words were bitter and cold.
"Beg."
"Feya-"
"Beg for my forgiveness, Beast."
With the flick of her wrist, her magic grabbed Beast by his throat and suspended him in the air. Her taunting grin twisted into a vengeful frown of disapproval. As he struggled to breathe, she continued to demand he beg for mercy, to which he complied.
"Forgive...me..."
She motioned once more, and her magic dropped his limp body onto the floor, with a loud thud echoing as he landed. He gasped for air, and fell into a coughing fit. The Enchantress knelt down and lifted his sorry chin once more.
"That's more like it." She grinned.
"I'll see you in two weeks."

Yo’ can I nag and theorize about Beauty & the Beast (1991+2017) for a second???
You’re still here??? OKAY COOL CAUSE I AM NOT HOLDING BACK ANY LONGER, HOLD ON CAUSE ITS A LONG ONE SO while I can admit I did like a few things from the Live-Action remake version of Beauty & the Beast, mostly how stunning the cinematography and animation was as well as the music (I AM A SLUT FOR EVERMORE) the thing that was breaking my head was how obvious the movie was trying to justify the plot holes of the first movie like a ‘wink wink nudge nudge’ while accidentally making it seem worse???   and even more when I don’t think it was necessary cause kids either never realized or came up with their own little HCs on how that happened (And yes I will mention what my childhood interpretation was cause darn it I am actually proud of this many-year-in-the-making-theory that I keep adding on to and I refuse to be embarrassed about it any longer, heck maybe others thought the exact same thing too so I shall bite the bullet and be cringe as hell!) btw I divided this shit in case you just wanted to know why I thing the new enchantress was an asshat with her curse (The Nagging) or read the interpretation/theorizing I’ve been doing since I was a child (The Theory)
The Nagging half-
okay so first things first the new movie says that the beast would become a monster and the rest of staff living in the castle would also suffer the spell’s magic until the beast learned how to love and be loved by another, all before the last petal fell if not they would be stuck like this forever (except the staff, they’d become actual furniture and leave a mad beast all alone) mind you, ALL OF THIS was also taking into account that NO ONE would ever remember anyone that was inside this castle, including family members like spouses or siblings (heck even children or parents would forget)
Meanwhile the OG Disney movie said that the beast and those in the castle would fall for her spell until the beast learned how to love and be loved by another (same as always) BUT the last petal would fall on his 21st birthday, if he didn’t get his shit together by 21 he a monster forever.... and that was about it
Now that that’s out of the way, how is the 2017 movie’s enchantress nOT CONSIDERED A BIGGER ASSHOLE THAN THE OTHER ONE?!
“Ah, yes! I will make you learn your lesson of compassion by making everyone that’s ever known of you forget y’all ever even existed even tho most of those villagers are your loved ones. I shall give you this magic rose whose petals will sporadically fall and you will NEVER KNOW which year will be your last of sentience. I will make you also stop aging while those outside (again, most are family members and friends) may age and die!”
and they DO outright state that MANY years passed with them waiting yet never aging, and judging by the villagers all living their life normally and having memories of time passing by I am guessing they didn’t get affected by that same magic (unless they are all trapped in a loop which is horrifying)
“But wait!”
you may say
“Maybe that much time didn’t actually pass! all their family is there after all!”
My friend that means either the Enchantress gave the poor guy like 2 years to stop being an asshole and get himself a girlfriend somehow OR that those inside the castle felt time pass much much faster and both does scenarios sound hellish, actual faerie shit.
How was this man suppose to do this??? Also the lady just sat there in the village waiting just for fun? to see if something did happen? Woman legit let a riot of scared villagers storm the castle of the guy she enchanted and let possibly kill/destroy a family member or friends THAT THEY DIDN’T EVEN KNOW EXISTED and did nothing until belle finally confessed her love for beast so she could walk in all casual and lift the spell. What if it was too late huh? just take the dead rose, tip your hat to the mourning woman and dead monster you cursed and walk away never letting go of the amnesia spell? MR POTTS COULD HAVE HIS GOD DAMN CHILD AND WIFE TURN INTO EXTREMELY BREAKABLE AND INANIMATE OBJECTS AND HE’D NEVER FUCKING KNOW
HOW IS THAT NOT EXTREMELY FUCKING MESSED UP?! FAE SHIT MAN I TELL YOU!!
She is somehow making the OG enchantress seem reasonable and that one turned a poor 11 year old who called her ugly once into a monster!
The Theory half-
“okay smartypants, do YOU have a better idea?”
I DON’T KNOW BUT I CAN TRY!! I’ve had this cooking in my head since I was a kid so let me tell you what OG enchantress was doing and what was going on!
First point, yes I am a firm believer that the “Ten years we’ve been rusting” was not an exaggeration cause, at least in my kiddy mind, it made absolute sense cause it would explain why the beast was so nasty with Belle and acting like an animal, he’s lived like a beast since he was a kid! His table manners are absolutely the result of 10 years without needing hold a spoon to eat. The other thing that made me think he was actually a kid when he got cursed was the fact that he couldn’t read that well, he even admits that he knew little and that it was a long time ago since he had done so! Imagine being 11 and turning into a monster with your only guardians all becoming talking objects, don’t think anyone could really sit him down to help him read!  That and I remember watching a Beauty and the Beast Christmas movie years ago and believe me that prince does NOT look or behave a day older than 13 year old but that's mostly extra It could also explain why no one pay any mind to that weird castle on the hills. Admittedly I also thought as a child that the only logical conclusion was that the spell made everyone forget there was a castle with a prince nearby but after more thought (and falling out of love for the idea after considering the implications and how little that would actually help towards the beast since the curse was so he’d learn a lesson) it really doesn’t need such a specific or convoluted explanation like, if you see a big big castle that has no one going in and out for years you would assume it was abandoned and/or haunted right? most people would have stirred away from the clearly abandoned and creepy place! They were a tiny peasant village at the other side of the woods that was a day or so away from a cross road that either led to a main road towards more villages and the capitol or more woods and the lonely palace (judging by Belle’s dad’s navigating scene), and its also royal property so its not far fetched that most villagers wouldn’t be going anywhere near their so it makes sense the weren’t really up to date with the prince, do you know what your president, their brother or youngest son is doing right now and where they are living without using your phone, TV or newspaper? “okay but then the Enchantress was just legit evil, she saw some rude kid and cursed him! That was a kid!” Oh I am with you on that one but I can kind of think of her (fairy?) logic as to why she’d decide to curse such a young child. An old lady knocks at your door, it is a cold dark night, wolves are known to roam nearby, you know its about a day’s travel to the nearest village by horse how well would an old frail lady fair on such journey by foot? It’s a miracle she’s made it here and all she asks of you is a place to sleep for the night and in exchange she will give you her only possession: 1 single rose. Now imagine how self-centered and cruel the person must be to take a look at that person, scoff in disgust at how ‘ugly and old’ they are “how dare you ruin my evening!” and slam the door to her face. And somehow a child did that. Cared so little that they didn’t even let her sleep in the stables, didn’t even offer a scrap of food or a blanket, not even a “sorry but I cannot”, he scoffed, mocked her and closed the door, dooming the old lady to die in the cold or be eaten by wolves. How can a child this young already be this rotten? If this is his behavior as a child, what would happen once he’s an adult? No, he still has time to change and so she sets the curse, a curse that can only be broken once someone who’s never known love or been unconditionally loved must learn now before its to late, he’d have plenty of time to learn and reflect but if by the time he’s an adult he’s still the same cruel boy, then so be it. “okay but the staff! They also had nothing to do with this and she still turned them into objects, curse them by no fault of their own!” Yet they let the child grow ever more vain and cruel, fear his step and bend to his demands, he was a prince after all and a bratty one at that, obviously he doesn’t need adult supervision or help or love or guidance or sOMETHING. In the 2017 remake I felt bad for those in the castle who ended up turned into objects, their only sin was being at the wrong place at the wrong time while in the 1991 (and this realization started coming to me in middle school) they were put to serve and look after this young prince and somehow they let him become so badly behave that a literal magical being had to step up to stop this brat from becoming a monster, they were merely acting as tools, furniture, accessories to the prince’s palace. They were so afraid of a child they dare not anger him and let his temper go as wild as he pleased, so the kid less as an 11year old and more as just some prince that payed for their wage. The kid viewed them as nothing more than objects for HIS domain since that’s all they were good for in his eyes. And what if that was just the spell? To look exactly as how prince/the palace perceives you? The prince saw nothing but objects that’d always serve him so they became ageless objects while the palace saw nothing but a future monster so he became a beast (honestly the idea that everyone just saw this kid as a monster is pretty fucking sad) And it would make sense right? It makes sense the enchantress not only saw the child as a problem but also the servants, so she would cast a spell to show them all, now their lives are at the princes’ heart’s mercy, now they really had to step up and discipline the child if they wished to be saved from an eternal life as tools under the eyes of a monster

"Unfortunately, [Minerva's] ideas of "protecting the charmantes" were very different from Lira's" well now I NEED to know more! (lighthearted)
I mentioned this a lil in a previous ask, but Lira tries her best to be an advocate for charmantes. She wants people to understand them better, so they don't have to live in fear anymore.
Minerva doesn't believe that les charmantes will ever be accepted by the outside world, but she still wants to protect her people. Even by force.
Adam's father was particularly cruel, and many charmantes were captured or killed during his reign. Child or not, Minerva didn't trust the young prince. And being that he was still a child... Well, she could think of a rather easy way to get rid of him.

Disney Theory🥀
I’ve had this theory (with not too much evidences to back it up but I don’t care)
The Enchantress (Beauty and the Beast) is a child of Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve already said the I believe Maleficent would be a villain to have children of her own (just coz she cursed a human baby doesn’t mean she hates infants) also the two are Fae creatures with very similar powers and similar sense of justice (which is morally grey).
So cute to think that that Enchantress’s name being Thorn; her favourite appearance being a beautiful woman (almost identical to Aurora) and using Roses which have very pretty petals to hide the sharp thorns of the stem. She also isn’t as powerful as her mother once was, she needs to have a reason to go around cursing people instead of whenever she feels like it.
Also just a little side note; I’m not taking into account BatB live action lore; I refuse to believe the enchantress would just be chilling in the village was a begger woman with people like Gaston walking around and not do anything.
If anyone has anything to add to this theory I’d love to hear it, or anything I could use as evidence would be cool.

Projecting a reinterpretation of beauty and the beast, still wiping but some things are:
The setting is more goth like
Belle is an artist than a reader and wears glasses while drawing, she’ll go from long ass hair to short
Beast is basically a horror elk, crow, wolf and bones bursting out his body
The servants are ghost entities, every age, nationality and even animals
The curse was put cause the prince’s father hated him for the death of his wife in childbirth and drop the kid out of the bus to the servants,he said he could’ve pay the enchantress with everything and that costed the kingdom the servants even himself but in a more twisted way
Gaston is a royal that still wants to marry Belle
Belle’s family was an ex royalty but they escaped over familiar circumstances
Religious horror
Bit more of blood (the beast mauls and sometimes eat he wolves and other animals) and spicy elements
Belle reached the beast castle to exchange her father’s place for entering in the castle uninvited over a debt
No one here is clearly straight and mentions about mental illness
I love this concept omggg I would definitely read or watch this version of BATB!!
Which reminds me, I wish Disney made a dark sad yet still comical movie about Gaston and his trauma. Something something growing up being taught to toughen up...ugghhhh I love all these ideas!!

The Enchantress Backstory
(Heads up, this ones a bit longer/darker than the rest, but the Enchantress always struck me as a lot more grey morality than the rest of the Fairy Godmothers)
Her real name is Celadon, and she was once a princess of the kingdom called The Summer Isles (which over the Centuries after her birth was changed to be called The Southern Isles)
Unlike the rest of the Fairy Godparents mentioned so far she has neither fairy nor demon nor any other type of magical heritage, she was instead born entirely human
Her parents died when she was young, and she was taken in by her own fairy godmother, The Fairy of the Beech Trees, who graced her with a myriad of magical gifts, similar to the Princess Aurora's
Tumblr media
However as she grew older, Celadon worried that her Fairy Gifts were the only reason someone would love her, and asked for her Fairy Godmother to take them away so that should could prove her own merit
The Fairy however was rather pridful and became insulted by this request, thinking Celadon thought herself, a mere mortal, above magical aid and determined to prove to Celadon she should be grateful for what the Fairy had deigned to give her
According she took her gifts from Celadon, and contrived to have her stay with a King and Queen who had a son her age, who was handsome and clever but also very vain and fickle. The Fairy however only spoke the praises of him to Celadon before sending her off, so that the unsuspecting girl was half in love with him before she saw him, and being still young and quite innocent to the world and it's vanity, fully in love once she did.
Without Celadon knowing however, the Fairy cast an enchantment upon her so that she would appear plain to the eyes of the prince, so that though all the rest of the court praised her for her kindness, wit and charm, he scoffed and scorned her. With this the Fairy hoped to make Celadon beg for her gifts back, as he seemed to have no interest in her without them.
Tumblr media
But the Fairy's plan went awry, as Celadon, her heart broken by the Prince's uncaring attitude towards her, left the kingdom and wandered the land, ended up as the servant of an old witch, who kept her half starved and took her fine clothes to wear for herself
During this time however Celadon began to learn magic by studying the Witch's books in secret while her mistress slept, in order to try and undo some of the witch's misdeeds she saw inacted on others. Indeed, she found she had a natural talent for it, and so discovered the enchantment that had been placed upon her by the Fairy of the Beech Trees
Realizing what must have occurred, and what the Fairy of the Beech Trees had intended, Celadon, after having dispossed of the Witch so that she would never entrap another lost soul, returned to the court of the prince, and as she once more stood before him, she asked if he, who had known her for many months, who had heard all speak the praise of her kindness, cleverness, had seen these traits himself, and had known her heart had longed for him, would still rejected her purely upon her apperance
When the Prince laughed once more at her and declared he would far rather have a pretty wife than a clever one, as pretty was much more pleasurable, Celadon cast off her enchantment, revealing her natural beauty. Stunned the Prince tried to apologize and make amends so that he might catch this beautiful creature for himself, but Celadon had seen at last his true heart, and used her new found magic to transform him into a bird, so that all would see how featherheaded he truly was.
Tumblr media
She then confronted the Fairy of the Beech Trees, asking her how she could have been so cruel, as to torment a heart that had wanted nothing more than love? When the Fairy tried to explain her reasoning, and that she would have made it right and seen her and the Prince Happily married once Celadon had asked once more for her Gifts, Celadon saw just how fickle her foster mother was as well, and that she would have been married off indeed to one who would only have loved her for her glamor and not herself in truth.
In a rage Celadon turned her magic in her Godmother. And her anger fed the dark magic she had learned and allowed her to overpower the Fairy, trapping her inside one of her own beech trees. Celadon then took the fallen fairy's wand for her own, and determined to go out into the world and save as many as she could from the fate she had narrowly escaped.
And so she wanders the world, neither Witch nor Fairy, but possessing the power of both, and meting out reward and punishment as she sees fit, teaching the lesson she feels mortals and magic folk alike need learn. She has a dislike for spoiled princes, witches, and self-righteous fairies, and ever a fondness for young people, especially young girls, who find themselves in poor circumstances, (including a young queen magically bound to a cruel and vain prince through the power of her demon patron)
Though there is no love lost between her and the Fairy Court, indeed she is something of an outlaw to them, she did strike up a friendship with a fairy named Gabrielle, who she found to be kind and humble, always looking on the heart and not the superficial appearance. And when Gabrielle gave up her immortality to marry a mortal inventor Celadon promised to stand in as an unnoffical fairy godmother to her daughter Belle.
(I had already chosen a name for her ages ago, and knew she had to have some sort of royal background with her crown in the stained glass window. So then when I found a fairytale with a princess with an almost similar name "Princess Celandine and Prince Featherhead"--in the Green Fairy Book no less-- I used that as a base but changed the ending as the Prince really didn't learn to be unfickle, he just realized the Princess was actually beautiful. I also cut the two different Fairy Godmothers in the tale down to one for simplicity's sake. Also credit to H.J. Ford for the og illustration bases)

Top 5 batb 2017 trivia 💛
this is exquisite. thank you <3
1. okay the first thing i NEED PEOPLE TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!!! is about adam’s mother. so in this flashback scene it shows her, presumably dead, in bed while adam sings sadly
Tumblr media
you’ll notice she has dark hair. BUT LISTEN ! ! ! she actually is blonde and i can explain what happened. first of all, to prove she’s blonde, look! she’s blonde in the portrait!
Tumblr media
the actress is in fact blonde as well. so why is her hair dark in that one shot you ask? well, when they did that scene, with her lying in bed and her blonde hair laying along her shoulder, apparently focus groups thought she looked like agathe, the enchantress, and questioned if agathe was in fact actually adam’s mother. so in a quick and desperate attempt to make sure no one thought the two women looked similar, they edited her hair to look dark. i understand the logic and timing-wise it was probably the best they could do, but it does annoy me because now people always think adam’s mother had dark hair🫠 so go spread the word!!!!! adam got his blonde hair and blue eyes from his MAMA!!!!!💛🩵
2. DAN STEVENS DID SOOOO MUCHHHH!!!!!!!!!! he BREATHED life into adam, and i ADORE him for it. my favorite tidbit about all the work he did, was that he did ALL the face acting Twice. he would act in the big suit on the ten-inch stilts on set, and then every few weeks he would go into a room and have his face sprayed with motion-capture dots and then he’d redo all the scenes with Just his face. here’s a good gifset that gives these behind the scenes visuals. it’s just so remarkable and i am so so thankful for all the work he put into it. there are so many (basically all??) scenes were i’m watching and i can just FEEL adam’s emotions, purely by his facial expressions and body language !! like it’s just phenomenal and i’m so eternally grateful to dan stevens for all that he did to bring that beloved boy to life.
3. according to an interview, apparently when they were done filming the final scene (the celebration ball), someone played happy by pharrell williams over the speakers and they all danced to it in their fancy 18th century costumes, in that lovely decadent ballroom. and it’s such a funny and super endearing sight to imagine, i ALWAYS think about it when that song comes on or is mentioned.
4. at the very first table read, when it came time for the THE DANCE, emma thompson just got up and went to a microphone and started singing “beauty and the beast.” no prep at all, and certainly no one expected her to sing on the first go-around, but she did! she sang along while two of the dancers did the dance. she’s such a legend :”)
5. dan stevens knows his name is prince adam and it fills me with immense amounts of joy :)
(around the 0:37 second mark)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he also talks a lot about how he made the scenes, like i mentioned earlier, in this (short) interview!!!!!!!

omg i’m like a huge beauty and the beast fanatic and i will gladly join in on the 2017 remake hate. the one thing i’ll give it is it has really nice costume designing for the most part (mostly in the opening and closing ball scenes) but like it’s such sour movie in relation to both the 90’s batb and the original tale. it’s like they watched a cinema sims video on the 90’s film and made the 2017 movie to appease them it’s so bad.
Most of the costumes were fine but I really hated the way they redesigned belle’s dress, it looked like a prom dress. All of the padding was just unnecessary and terrible, like the weird stuff about the book that lets you go anywhere, belle’s mom dying from the plague(?), the enchantress having a larger role… just completely boring and stupid. You could tell easily which songs were not in the original because they were so much worse, not to mention Emma Watson’s voice was autotuned to the max. I remember just being shocked when she started singing. I also still think she was miscast- maybe not for a belle in general but very much so as a replacement for the animated one.

The second collage on my Disney Princess and their iconic items series. After I found a book cover of Belle with the Enchanted Rose I had to include it in the collage, along with throwing in their Toy, Once Upon A Time and remake counterparts. Belle approaching the rose in the Christmas special has me wondering if the rose was somehow calling to her or if she simply feels drawn to it. The Twisted Tales version of BatB did have the Enchantress as Belle's mother.

I just saw that on one of the Descendants wikis, it's been confirmed that Gil's mom is Agathe (the enchantress from BATB) and respectfully...no 💕)
Anyway in my fanon he will still be the son of Melinda, an oc who served as a blacksmith for Hook's crew, he has a little sister named Marina and his full name is Gilligan after Gilligan's Isle. (this will literally never be relevant because this was his lore in a fic I finished in idk 2019)
