exactly one (1) person has asked for my valtteri/lewis/guanyu thoughts so here you go @hungerpunch <3 it is mainly just the brainrot of what i wrote in fran n kyle’s dms but i hope you like it !!

so like. valewis. they’re a thing. because of course they are. they’re valtteri bottas and lewis hamilton. guanyu sees lewis when he’s over sometimes. slipping into valtteri’s motorhome. chatting with some of the mechanics as he waits for val to finish up. roscoe hanging around, napping on valtteri’s feet during briefings, lewis nowhere in sight. watches val’s eyes follow the man around the paddock. not that he can blame him. guanyu has a hard time not looking at lewis too.

he becomes friends with valtteri who is kind and patient and so fucking funny and doesn’t care when guanyu has a thousand questions and is on a mission to make guanyu a coffee drinker bc he cannot take another year of having a teammate who doesn’t appreciate good brew.

and guanyu isn’t, like, in love in love with him, not really. it’s a crush !! it’s cool. it’s fine. val is just soft and smells really good and hilarious and has the bluest eyes and his alfa romeo shirt sometimes stretches across his shoulders in a way that distracts guanyu for a few seconds everytime he sees it. it’s cool. it’s fine. he’s doing fine.

and with lewis. well. lewis has always been lewis hasn’t he. he’s been in guanyu’s wet dreams longer than pretty much anyone else but cmon, look at him. and he’s so fast and brilliant and loud, louder than anyone else. and he’s done so much that means guanyu’s road in this sport is a little easier and even when it’s not, lewis is there, smiling, in his corner. and knowing lewis? knowing lewis the person? the one that makes valtteri laugh and blush and stutter and remembers guanyu’s mom’s birthday (he had it put into his calender bc “my memory is so shit man, i swear,” he says, laughing, hand tugging at his ear. that, guanyu realises months later, was probably when he should’ve known he was fucked) and messes with mick in way that guanyu knows mick appreciates, doesn’t look at him like he’s expecting someone else, and chats to animals like they’re ppl?? that lewis is even better than what guanyu imagined but like. it’s cool. it’s just a crush !!

and even if it wasn’t. even if guanyu actually liked one of them it doesn’t matter bc they’d never notice him even if they didn’t have each other.

but.

sometimes.

sometimes guanyu wakes up to like 50 messages from lewis all about fashion and design and colours and patterns and he knows other younger drivers, drivers that have been here longer, don’t get this from lewis.

(he remembers a few years ago when lewis first stepped out into the paddock wearing smth bright and colourful and not very macho and the whispers that follow him normally grew deafening and it was all he could think about for weeks. the colour. the style. the defiant set to lewis’s jaw as he smiled, purple draped across his shoulders, hair curly, hands in pockets. lewis’s clothes are so loud that it can be easy, guanyu knows, to remember how vulnerable they make him look. what it costs him to wear them)

and he gives that to guanyu, and doesn’t ever ask for anything in return. sometimes when lewis turns up at the track and he’s wearing smth cool and different and guanyu grins at him. says smth along the lines of oh i like the shape here. the shoulders. the bit of lace. and hopes to god he doesn’t sound as infatuated like he feels. hopes he doesn’t sound like pierre. lewis just. lights up. like he was waiting for guanyu to say smth. like he cared what guanyu thought. like he put these clothes on in the morning, piece by piece covering tattoos and skin and bone, valtteri lying shirtless on the bed, drinking his coffee, and thought of guanyu.

sometimes there’s a quiet moment in the garage and guanyu is tucked away in a corner, doodling, designing his next helmet, making a pinterest board based solely around an interesting fashion trend that he wants to explore, texting the old prema lads scattered across the globe. and valtteri sits down beside him with a book, or a coffee, or his ipad. looking over his own plans for the house he’s building, the one with only one bedroom to avoid having guests over, and they don’t talk. not really. sometimes guanyu asks him smth about clothes and val with his years spent around lewis can normally give him a pretty good opinion or val asks him smth about the design of the house he’s building. and it’s small and quiet and calm and valtteri doesn’t exactly enjoy a lot of ppl. they tire him out, guanyu knows. but. but surely it must mean smth that val comes to him when he’s done with other ppl. surely that means guanyu is more than most.

sometimes. sometimes.

and then !!

val invites him over. to the house with only one bedroom.

the house that val is building for lewis with his little home gym and wide big windows and insulation and perfect state of the art heating. the house that val is building for himself with its sauna and lake nearby and snow all around. the house that val is building for them both with it’s one bed and no neighbours.

and guanyu doesn’t really know what’s going on. doesn’t know where he’ll stay if there’s only one room and val said, he SAID, guanyu heard him, that he doesn’t want guests there. so is guanyu not a guest? but then what is he?

but he says yes bc he can’t not when val is grinning at him, cup in one hand, blushing slightly in that way that he does when he’s nervous but trying not to be.

he texts lewis, like, a week before he’s supposed to be there, asking what hotels are good to stay in nearby. lewis tells him to not be ridiculous. that there’s lots of room with them. and don’t worry about it. we got you. and well. lewis has never lied to him before so.

what if guanyu comes over n lewis shows him his clothes. let’s him try some on.

standing behind him as guanyu looks at himself in the mirror. lewis adjusting the jacket on his shoulders. val is watching them from a chair by the window.

“suits you,” lewis says. eyes crinkling, heat from his smile lingering there. guanyu swallows. “what do u think vb?” lewis grins, voice low and quiet. “go on.” lewis pokes at him. “give him a twirl.”

and guanyu does. the blocky leather of the coat heavy, shifting over his mesh shirt, over lewis’s shirt. his long silk skirt fanning out, air cool against his right thigh where a slit cuts through the material. val smiles at him, smth soft and careful tucked into the corners of his mouth, eyes dipping low and dragging up his body slowly. “yeah,” he says. “looks really good.”

guanyu is supposed to be leaving in a few hours. (he doesn’t have a return flight booked) (he was hoping —)

lewis reaches out a hand, rubbing his thumb along the leather, fingers pressing into guanyu’s palm. “you should keep it,” he says. smile growing smaller, smth that looks suspiciously like nerves tensing along the line of his jaw. he breathes in, shoulders settling. oh, guanyu thinks. oh. he remembers val’s blush when he asked guanyu over in the first place.

do you know, guanyu doesn’t say. how alike you two can be? is this what happens when you spend so much time with a person? when you know them inside out? i want to know you, he doesn’t say. lewis’s eyes flicker down to guanyu’s mouth, staying there for a heartbeat. two. three. five. his hand warm and soft and big around his. guanyu wants to feel them around his waist. lewis looks him in the eye, defiant and bold and beautiful. valtteri is still in his chair. waiting. watching. guanyu chews at his cheek.

“are you,” he asks, not bothering to hide his smile. “trying to buy my affection? bc i think i’m worth at least two valentinos. and definitely,” he says. “more than three diors.” running a hand down his chest, brushing his nipples, mesh catching off the light. lewis grins, rolling his eyes.

valtteri laughs as lewis tugs him closer. so close he can count the freckles along his nose, dotted on the thin skin under his eye, lightly bruised by sleep. “he’s already got you all figured out,” valtteri laughs again, relief curling the edges of the sound. he’s slouching in the chair, tension gone. guanyu is momentarily distracted by the way his legs are spread wide, thighs stretching his sweats. his barefeet are flat on the floor, dusted with fine blond hair. “i’m an open book,” lewis says, hand coming up to hold guanyu’s jaw, fingers splayed along his neck, thumb on his cheek. valtteri laughs again and guanyu feels a little split open at the sound. at the way lewis is looking at him. warm and soft and heavy. “are you going to kiss me or,” he says and lewis rolls his eyes again. “patience my dear padawan,” he half whispers, pretending to frown. bc lewis is nothing if not dorky and kisses him, long and deep and slow. as valtteri sighs long sufferingly behind him.

“always with the star trek,” val says. and guanyu presses up against lewis to distract him from protesting that its star wars, val !! not star trek. cmon you know this !! leaning further into him, all muscle and heat and dense, hand on his stomach. lewis’s sweater is so very soft. lewis grumbles in the back of his throat but melts into him, tilting guanyu’s head back, licking into his mouth until guanyu unfolds before him.

valtteri’s hands are hot against his skin, sneaking up under his shirt, plastering himself against guanyu’s back, caging him in. he presses hot wet open mouthed kisses along guanyu’s neck, humming quietly. lewis pulls away as guanyu’s shirt scrunches under val’s movements.

“oi,” he says. blinking, a little dazed. guanyu feels all shivery at the thought of making lewis hamilton lose his focus. “that shit is expensive. be careful.” guanyu can practically hear valtteri roll his eyes behind him.

“well then. guess we’ll just have to take it off.” guanyu grins. “what a shame.” turning until he’s leaning back against lewis, who spreads his legs a little, planting his feet, hands curling around his waist. valtteri’s fingers are light and ghosting as they push the coat off of guanyu’s shoulders, draping it over the chair nearby. pulling the shirt over guanyu’s head, running a hand through his hair. grinning as guanyu shiver when his fingers get tangled for a moment.

“beautiful,” he says, hands on guanyu’s ribs, and guanyu pulls him in by the laces of his sweatpants, kissing him. valtteri tastes of mint and coffee. lewis’s fingers drawing small circles on his stomach, nose tucked behind his ear. valtteri’s thigh slipping in between his legs. guanyu just holds on and lets them hold him in return

ok well if no one will msg me so i can copy and paste my sonic forces rewrite braindump i'll put it here

First off: The war has already gotten insanely bad before Sonic disappears. Eggman has been sending Badniks everywhere so it's impossible for the characters to fight them all at once. I'm taking Infinite's Jackal Squad and making them a city defense team rather than thieves. And to give the playable avatar a bit of story, they're a part of the squad as well. So after battling a Badnik, Infinite is knocked out. The squad runs to get him medical help, and he wakes up alone.

Then Starline shows up and gaslights Infinite into thinking he was abandoned. Starline gives him the mask, and takes him to Eggman. This way we get the whole "Starline meets Eggman and tries to show off that he can be a villain too" plotline. In the comics, he just sort of shows up, so if he brings a newly brainwashed minion, then that makes it a bit more interesting. Basically, Infinite sides with Eggman, because he believes siding with the Resistance got him abandoned and alone.

I'm also planning on changing that one scene where Tails cowers in front of Chaos. That was REALLY out of character, especially since Tails has literally defeated Chaos before. So I was thinking maybe he would try to fight Chaos, but as this is an illusion from Infinite, his fighting tactics are different than Chaos's actual tactics. This catches Tails off guard, so now he has a reason to be scared, but instead he's just confused. I think this works WAY better than just having Tails curl in a ball and hide.

The other main thing I want to change is what happens when Sonic gets captured. Honestly, I think changing Sonic's reaction to getting imprisoned and tortured, making everyone a little less hopeless without him, and keep them from finding out Sonic is alive for a while longer would make the whole game WAY better.

Sonic isn't just being super sarcastic and mentions "oh lol you're torturing me lmao anyway", he's actually weakened and injured. And this has an actual effect on the story and gameplay. He has less stamina, so attacks don't deal as much damage, and in cutscenes, he's still visibly hurt and distraught. He was tortured for six months and that's never really shown in the game??

I'm not saying we need to show the actual torture- just make it actually have an impact. Also why did they chain up his arms in the game? Why not chain up his legs? What's he gonna do, punch Zavok? He's the fastest hedgehog, not the strongest. That would make the torture even more impactful because he couldn't escape.

I also want to change everyone's reaction to Sonic being gone. In the game, the world falls to war as soon as Sonic disappears. But do you honestly think that with everyone's abilities combined- psychokinesis, invisibility, having a comically large hammer- missing just one team member who's just fast would mean the world collapses immediately? Eggman has been sending badniks to cities everywhere, so the team can't possibly fight them all at once. Everything's *already* collapsing.

When Sonic is gone, everyone carries on trying to stop the war without him, but also everyone looked up to him and they're devastated. They don't let it get in the way of fighting, but they're also fearing the worst and that Sonic may be dead. This is why I want them to not find out Sonic's alive as soon as they start thinking he was killed- they need to realize they've been too dependent on Sonic when they're perfectly capable of fighting on their own. Meanwhile, Sonic isn't capable of fighting on his own (at least not when he's this weak), and has to pray someone can save him.

I want to parallel this with Infinite and his Jackal Squad too. Infinite thinks everyone abandoned him, and wants to save himself. Meanwhile, the Jackal Squad doesn't have any idea what happened to Infinite, so they also have to realize that they're too dependent on him and can fight for themselves.

absolutely the most boring braindump of a Post Abt Chest Management Solutions, lmao, ergo cut for length—

am hanging around in one of the cotton fruit of the loom ~bralettes~ i bought recently (3 for $15! unbelievable bargain probably made possible by a sweatshop somewhere! no ethical consumption &c!), which like—truly is any word better designed 2 induce dysphoria. like i already hated talking abt myself and bras in the same sentence and now: a further feminizing diminutive suffix!! rigged for hir displeasure!—and thinking like.

(1) thrilled to have found an approach 2 the problem [some people call their tits 'the girls.' i call mine 'the problem.'] that's as comfortable as these. like i accidentally slept in one last night because i didn't get the discomfort cue that normally prompts me to strip down for sleep. extremely can't complain in that regard.

(1b) …does that mean i should really try a size down for better more flattening compression tho. very possibly! but i guess really it depends on whether this set shrinks in the wash much, so like. stay tuned.

(2) the fabric of these is still probably too heavy for really hot weather, i'm guessing, and regardless of thickness cotton just inherently absorbs rather than wicking, so. problem not fully solved. but for the current warm-but-not-sweltering temps these are pretty good. definitely an improvement over nylon against clammy skin.

(3) it continues to be deeply baffling to me that so many people, if the market is to be believed, prefer non-racerback straps for everyday wear. like—these bralettes i bought are essentially just incredibly basic cropped camisoles with some elastic at the bottom hem, and while they weren't totally horrendous in that configuration, i unpicked the stitching on the straps and reattached them at the center back to make a rough-and-ready racerback like so: _\/_ and it was just. immediately vastly more comfortable not to have the straps crossing my shoulder blades. like i accept that we're all different and have different prefs but part of me is just like '…are ppl who prefer that style sure that isn't just familiarity/false consciousness speaking tho.'

(4) the one thing abt these bralettes that still isn't really ideal, but which would be a much bigger project to fix, is that like. not all of us need this much fabric along the vertical axis, lol. like obviously they make these as long as they do to accommodate the amount of tissue in larger chests, and like, thumbs up for that, but for those of us who don't present with that degree of convexity, it's just like. this garment could've been a solid inch shorter and still accomplished its goals?? and so you wind up with extra fabric and either have to roll the band up to reel in the slack or else just live with it bunching up in the eaves, and like, neither approach is totally terrible but. could be better!!

and yeah, i could unpick the stitching on the elastic and cut an inch off the bottom and then work out how to reassemble things, but like. the strap relocation was easy and i could do it by hand while watching tv, whereas elastic is intimidating and also that's more sewing than i really want to do by hand. so in theory i'd want to figure out how to do it on the machine which. is also intimidating. so i'm just living with it, at least for now.

finally & probably most importantly (5) spending this much brainspace [i mean like. just look at this stupid fucking hydra of a post.] on Problem Management does make me mad, lol. like. most of the time it just feels easier to accept the situation and strap it down to something ignorable than to seek out a surgical remedy that's separated from me by so many barriers (expense/current lack of insurance, soc anx, perfectionism, serious uncertainty abt whether it would actually on the whole be an improvement vs just Differently Wrong, fear of increased transphobia), but when it's like. well now i'm having to actively engage with the problem and spend time and thought and money and effort on it anyway, just in ways that make me feel powerless and resentful rather than self-actualized and hopeful… blegh.

I still cannot believe a fucking mobage has some of the hypest shit I've ever seen

I honestly didn't appreciate enough even the second time watching the anime that the season 1 cast was made up of veritable titans of keiba history and it certainly makes some of the season 1 scenes even better. But damn the game is so far showing a glimpse of what could have been...as I've been doing another anime watch, I'm realizing they really spent a lot of time on making up some dependency issue between Spe and Suzuka, and I feel like that time would have been better spent giving some more development to other rivals, especially Seiun and King.

On the one hand, I get that I'm doing that thing in my head where I can fantasize a perfect production and ignore any inconvenient realities of production in favor of some imaginary ideal I made up. On the other hand, there is absolutely a real production right now from the same IP that's basically adapting the same material a lot better this time, though definitely in a different format which has its own implications. This time around Seiun does get better development as to why she feels the need to win; it's not quite a huge amount but even just getting an important flashback with her grandpa and showing that she has important people she wants to bring joy to go a long way. There's also a great scene where Seiun meets Spe right before they leave the paddock for the Satsukishou and tells Spe that the difference that day in their sense of purpose is why Seiun will win, which we the. subsequently see is the case and seeing Spe having to reckon with that.

Even King who didn't get a bunch of time on this iteration either still conveys more of her angst about lofty expectations she's always under the shadow of and her intensity needing to prove herself, especially in the face of a practically rigged generation of monsters she's up against. Going back to realities of production though, I can see that perhaps they originally just wanted a lighter easier story to make their franchise debut with, which could also be why they made that plot thread of Spe needing to stop being so attached and needy with Suzuka. Otherwise, if season 1 did more switching around among not just Spica and Rigil but the other 1998 rivals and added more back stories then that could have been something really good, but I can see from a franchise debut perspective that you may not wanna go right out the gate taking risks like that since a strong season is not guaranteed simply from trying such a thing (assuming it's even accomplished and not scrapped in favor of a change in direction due to production needs).

Speaking of Rigil, this team totally feels like it was just made to be an imposing enemy team with all its powerhouses from different gens just for one season and now struggles to continue to fit into new storylines. As much as I love all the girls in it, it's presenting issues with such a large concentration of strong umas from different times in just one team. Season 2 basically didn't have Rigil around to actually be much of a team at all and other media is actually just not even bothering with Spica or Rigil existing. It'll be interesting to see what the upcoming Sakura Laurel manga does with this since Narita Brian is one of the main bosses Laurel will have to face (probably will not be compatible with the anime at all, Cinderella Gray has had Rudolf and Maruzensky but not a single hint of Rigil existing).

Anyway I just wanted to braindump not too coherent thoughts of hors I've been having and am looking forward to what the upcoming part to the game main story brings. Season 1 had a decent amount of at least showing Grass's perspective, and I'm finally understanding after just not getting it before that her scenes wanting Spe's attention before the Takarazuka Kinen were her being pissed that while she's intensely focused on victory, Spe is obsessing about quite frankly irrelevant shit and not seeing her as a rival to bring everything against (actually turned out to kinda reflect what I ended up feeling there too this time lmao). I'm hopeful El and Grass will get some good scenes and reeeeaaalllly wanna fucking see the followup to them name-dropping Montjeu (was originally an OC named Broye before they ended up having the rights to use Montjeu's name)

Hehe I have been thinking about alot recently!! Haha while I'm basically constantly in a state of murderbabe enjoyer, the last month or so I've been like. RE FALLING IN LOVE WITH THE GENRE AND OC CREATION LOL! ( Ive also simultaneously been at the height of busyness in my life so I don't really often have the energy to act upon what I wanna make GHGLHL KA😭 )

Ahhh tell us about the sound for the parse updates!!! i love these little sound design ideas they’re so cool and fun

AHH YES so basically the Parse vibes are where we would really hammer in Jack's anxiety motif, the ear ringing and rushing noise (honestly there are other sounds I've thought about but this is the one I keep coming back to). SO I think there's two main points we hear this early on: 1x18 (Playoffs - I) and the Parse updates.

In Playoffs, the noise builds as the reporters go on and on, and the reposters get louder too until it's overwhelming and Jack leaves, and the noise dies down.

In Parse though, this is the first (and I think only) time we see Jack already anxious, TV allows more screen time so instead of entering Jack and Bitty mid-conversation, we actually see (through Bitty's eyes) Jack anxiously coming down to the Kegster. With that, the anxiety noise is subtle but dies down over the course of his conversation with Bitty (never completely gone). With Parse's entrance, on screen we get more build-up to the moment, hearing people whisper behind Jack and Bitty until-

Parse speaks, Jack responds, "Hey Zimms, didja miss me?" And the noise gets loud FAST, then cut to black.

During his argument with Parse, the noise just builds and builds and builds until Jack slams his door at the end, but I think it builds faster when Parse is speaking.

The important part is having the noise add to the dialogue and not distract from it, we want watchers paying attention to the dialogue and feeling scared with Jack, not wondering what the fucking ringing noise is in the bg lmao

again, I wish I could just mind meld to show you what I'm thinking but unfortunately the internet doesn't have that capability and I have no experience with sound mixing so you just have to read me describe it, but thank you again so much for asking and letting me braindump!!

1) is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason?

i’ve only referenced it a few times, but i have this whole modern / college au that i want to release in august. basically, tcw fam as senior students in school. i think it’s going to be about 10 chapters, each chapter covering a month, so it’ll have monthly updates. i’m holding off on writing even though i have the whole outline, just because...i’m going to be in my senior year of college when i post this, so :’) (i plan on releasing the final chapter on my graduation day, which is......gonna be something else)

6) something you would go back and change in your writing that it’s too late/complicated to change now

hm...not sure? i think since outlining a lot of my fics, i don’t ever feel like i can’t write myself out of a complication. but i guess if we’re talking on a deeper level, there’s probably some stuff that i wish 13 / 14 year old caroline didn’t write because “lmao caroline why”. but like. i get it. i was learning, and i was being informed by all these other ideas, and i grew and learned like everyone else.

16) are there any characters who haunt you?

fic-wise? ahsoka tano, because she has been my constant companion ever since i was a kid. but original writing wise? there’s this one original character who has been with me since i was 16 years old. she’s always looked the same, had the same name, sounded the same in my head. she’s been getting a little louder lately, and only now am i starting to understand her.

19) when it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, ect.?

i keep my outline in one document, and then sometimes i’ll write things from different parts of a story and put them all in one doc labeled ‘[TITLE OF STORY] BRAINDUMP’. but as for basic characters + development, i like to have a treatment page (which is really more common for screenplays, but i like using it for writing fiction as well), which is a basic synposis / title / characters page. i’ll also add stuff like “this character WANTS [X]”, followed by “this character NEEDS [X]”, which helps me figure not only the character development, but also the trajectory of the plot to get the character to their need.
