thinking about how expectant of her own death scully always was, but how completely struck by shock she was in mulder’s, despite how clear it had always been that he would one day die for the cause. tragedy in the x-files as something you should have been prepared for, but never could be, in scully standing at a funeral, as her mother had stood at her father’s, and barely being able to speak. she should be able to do this? bred to be a war widow, attached to an endless line. but no matter how many times she saw him put that gun to himself, or run off in front of another, she really did believe that he would always come back. she really did believe that there would never be a day where he didn’t just appear in the doorway again.

Notes: This is what I was working on all up until November! I wanted to finish it in time for a fan event, but, it didn't quite happen in time that way. (Maybe I can finish it later this year?!) For now, please enjoy the preview! I was also working on this together with a mutual - the track choice was mainly their idea, but I was trying to help find scenes that'd fit, and I managed to make quite a few moments work; You'll notice it's slightly different from my usual styles, but I'm also trying to relate specific moments and framing rather clearly here!!

(I'll admit theres a couple lines I thought were harder to work with; I'll figure those out later, but the track was overall fun for them regardless and I really enjoyed trying to make this!!) {As usual, a bit of manipulating scenes does happen, but its not ultra-heavy edits; all of these scenes come direct from canon formats for the most part, with some simple scenic manipulating otherwise!}

Hello, im wehaveagathering from my main blog, im kind of obsessed with your hockey poetry edits and I think your blog is great! I guess I kind of have a dumb question, where do you find the images you use for your edits? Did you say Getty in your tags?? I’ve gotten into making icons recently (and i have ideas for poetry edits hrrrghhh) but it’s hard to find high res images. Thanks for your time and I hope you have a nice day :)

first of all thank you so much 🥹 and second that’s absolutely not a dumb question!! i do pull a lot of images from getty and i’ll also download pictures from sports articles (i got a lot of the hugheses pictures from online access articles, for example), or sometimes from instagram/facebook/twitter if an account is public. freely admitting that i am not technologically advanced? inclined? in the slightest here, but the image editing software that you use and how you import/export photos with it makes a difference in the quality of them as well!

if you haven’t seen them yet, i would also recommend checking out @simmyfrobby @national-hockey-lesbian @hauntedppgpaints @tapedsleeves @starscelly and @captainbradmarchand’s blogs just off the top of my head!!! they might know more places to get high res images and also i love their work 💕🫶

The longer I'm around the more convinced I become that Jill and Michael also had some kinda codependent-besties archetype thing going on?? they may or may not even have been aware of it, but like. they're kind of a matched set, you know? Frequently purchased together, do not separate them

(she taught him to drink) #(they used to laugh and drink and party together until suddenly they couldn't anymore) #jill takes the chance to admit to lloyd that she worries about michael. to which!!!! lloyd says!! at least he has you #jill and michael's well being has ALWAYS been interwoven #or like. or like. in act 6 in the final battle jill follows her own melody line bc she's ticked and this is personal #compared with michael who doesn't have a personal stake in this other than the playhouse crew being involved! #michael doesn't have his own melody. he sings to the love and a dream playhouse tune bc that's his motivation for fighting #UNTIL jill is in danger!! when Michael jumps in to save her he finally gets his own musical flavor in the song! then it's banjo boy time #idk. there was a lot of loss and multiple different traumas Michael went through after that. but suddenly he's alone again #at least he's not stuck in a swamp or a tower for years but. he's all the way back to square one. he's alone. he doesn't cope well with that #and while he misses all of them he really misses jill. at the worst of it he doesn't even want to reunite with lloyd and david #but like. he's in a real bad way. he's hit rock bottom and he carries so much guilt over not being able to help jill #to the point where even hearing that there's hope is crushing to him bc it means that there Was something he could've done #and he did nothing #he's devastated all over again not just bc he lost her. but bc he abandoned her. he failed her. #we don't have nearly as much about how jill is doing but we do have her song titled Michael about their early relationship #and the way they rely on each other #go listen to that and tell me the narrative wouldn't just eat that up and link their destinies and mental stability #they spent years in level five. you can't tell me they got away with all this unscathed #i definitely think losing son mi was a big part of why michael spiraled but this essay is about jill and michael specifically #hdhjdfhrjrdgtsg how long can post go (challenge mode) #pebble speaks #shaperaverse

One thing that goes crazy is those distant screaming calls for help you can hear in the background of off to the races. Like the whole basic premise is this lolita inspired dynamic between this young lonely girl and this much older man where she swears that nobody else in the world would even have her except for him and this in itself is a feat because she’s ‘crass’ and has a ‘broke down life’ etc and the whole thing is entrenched in denial. He loves her in spite of all these things wrong with her, all he asks is that she does what he wants, he’s like an omnipresent figure for her - watches her in the bathroom, getting dressed etc. and the almost hyperbolic way she describes herself smitten with him and how she believes she needs him, she’s nothing without him, the dependency borders on the paternal. It’s not that she’s unable to leave it’s that she believes she has nowhere else to go, he’s made it so she’s so enmeshed that she simply thinks she could not survive without him. he’s ‘saving’ her from herself and she’s in even more debt to him for it (sorry that im misbehaving!!!) and imo she’s almost a parody of herself bc she doubles down on this narrative that’s she’s a seductress and insane and crazy and she needs looking after by this mature older man when in reality she’s so troubled, under constant observation but she twists it so it’s like she’s running away to be caught by him rather than to escape. And in the end her calls for help can barely be heard under the passionate repetition that he’s her one true love

I saw some comments of Italians saying that in the beginning of last season, when ferrari had their first issues, charles still sound positive and hopeful in the post race interviews. And now in the interview after the first race he already sounds apathetic and defeated like seb and alonso were before. Like he already realized this isn't going to work.

I don't know about that. Obviously it's a big shock (derogatory) and disappointment to unexpectedly DNF in the very first race of the season (especially if it was preventable) so he's hardly going to be all smiles in the immediate aftermath. I believe the drivers are expected to head straight to the media pen after a DNF, which means he basically didn't have a chance to speak to anyone from the team before heading to the media, save for Andrea, who knows about as much as Charles does. His first DNF in 2022 came in Barcelona, at a time where they had a much more competitive car from day 1 and it looked like they could still turn things around pretty easily (Max was ahead by 6 points after that race and that's after RB swapped the cars; had Checo won the race, Charles would've still had the lead in the standings.)

Whereas in this race Ferrari already knew they were on the back foot relative to Red Bull, and that podium was much-needed for the team. So obviously the frustration and disappointment is going to show. However, he looked pretty happy in the pics from his visit to the factory today, so I think the motivation is still there. I remember seeing quotes going around of Charles admitting he's feeling better in the car than he did during testing, so that's already a tentative positive. They supposedly have all this straight line speed banked, so it'll be interesting to see how they'll do on a track where tyre degradation is less of an issue, plus the rumoured wing upgrades...

There's been a lot of defeatism going around, both from the fans but perhaps more surprisingly from the teams themselves, after just one race that probably wasn't all that representative. Remember, some people really, truly believed the season was already decided after Australia last year. Does it look like more of an uphill climb this year compared to last season? Yes, no doubt. But to publicly throw in the towel, like Mercedes is doing, after one race? All this talk of this being the longest-ever season of F1 and people are just shrugging and writing it off. Sure, it looks predictable from where we're standing today, but it's still F1 and there's always a possibility of crazy unexpected shit happening. 🤷🏻‍♀️
