swinging space age bachelor man is so sad in its context i will hold this belief until the day i die. ricky was his own best friend. "live and let live! love and let love! for love is the closest you can come to another person because its the closest you can come to being another person!" he concedes. he's the same person he always was, it's just that no one listened.
also his outfit FUCKED, man.

Ride the cyclone movie concept, by me
Cast: off Broadway 2016 cast
Type: regularly 2d animated, but every Choir song has a different animation style.
What the world needs: A video game-ish style animation showing how Ocean views life as a game, it has pixel art, she goes to the next level every time she insults another choir member.
Noels lament: A classical old time-y 1930s animation style, in black and white. Sorta like these:
Tumblr media
(Betty boop)
Tumblr media
(Classic cartoon by BIO675 on devienart , keep in mind I did not research so idk if they drew this or just posted it)
Mishcas songs: I genuinely don't know about TSIA (maybe like a clone high type animation)
Talia would be in a sort of Disney style, maybe 2d like Cinderella or the hunchback of Notre dame (One of my favorite Disney movies) or the other 2d Disney movies, or CGI like Tangled.
Space age bachelor man: Obviously an 80s cartoon style animation. Cat ladies will almost look like the original She-ra girls.
The ballad of Jane doe: Sort of (wow im saying this a lot) like an animatic, but a little more polished. It would be in black and white. It would start out with the OG porcelain doll Jane, but over the course of the song, will show different Jane dolls (that way everyone wins). It would end back with the porcelain doll look.
The new birthday song: Would be like TBOJD at first, but then slowly turn back into regular 2d animation like before.
Sugar cloud: STOP MOTION BABYYYYY!!!!! And everyone wold be on clouds for half the song!!!
Other things I would add/ leave out:
Ricky keeps his disability, and he's on a wheelchair/ has crutches for the whole thing.
Since we want this movie to be longer, it's only fair if we learn more about the kids families, father Marcus, Karnak, cut characters (THEY ARE CANON TO ME) etc.
Noel still makes out with Mishca, obviously.
After the movie has been out for a while, we get an animated short (like 5 minutes) explaining the plot of legoland.
This one is probably just me but ld like a little blush with Nishca and/or Spacedolls
Thank you for listening to my longer than usual rant. If anyone makes this happen, I love you, I don't care who you are, lets get married.

OK, but hear me out
Say Ride the Cyclone were to be adapted into a film; imagine how much fun it would be to see it animated.
Because for the main plot, like the intro song and the mostly dialogue scenes in limbo, you could easily do a stylistic, but still grounded in realism style that a lot of modern animated projects are doing right now (think Arcane or Into the Spider Verse). But once each of the kids go into their respective songs/fantasies for what their life could have been? What if those were done in completely different styles?? Imagine the additional, visual storytelling that would tell about who they are as characters?
Like say, for Ocean's number, WTWN, everything became more simplified, and the characters (especially Ocean herself) turned into a more rounded, chibi-like style to enhance just how cutesy and likeable she's trying to portray herself throughout that number.
Or for Noel's Lament, everything goes black and white, and the characters become even more 2D stylized, and the film scales down to a smaller millimeter frame, more reminiscent of cartoons from the early 20's, when animation was just starting out, to enhance his idealization of "the olden days" (as Ocean puts it).
Mischa's song, This Song is Awesome could be animated with a more choppy frame rate, and the character designs turn a little more jagged around the edges, kind of like animated music videos (I'm thinking a Gorillaz band vibe). But as he transitions into singing about Talia, the colors start to bleed out over their lineart, and become more paint-like and Talia herself moves like a rotoscoped character (think Loving, Vincent that came out a few years ago) to enhance the sense that she's somewhere between a real person and a fantasy Mischa's built in his mind.
Ricky's song would, of course, be stylized after those sci-fi cartoons from the 90's, like X-Men or Captain Planet.
For the Ballad of Jane Doe, I would love to see something like what Wolfwalkers did back in 2020, where most of the characters (in this case, the other kids) are for the most part, animated like traditional, 2D characters with very clean lines and neat movements, whereas Jane herself stands out for having messier, sketchy line art, and looks more and more unfinished in her animation as the song goes on, because she can feel more and more of her own identity being lost.
Constance's Sugar Cloud I could see done in the classic 2D Disney style (i.e., the Renaissance era of Disney, like the Lion King or Little Mermaid days) because not only is it really smooth and colorful and just all around nice to look at, but it reminds the average moviegoer of their childhood growing up with those movies (among others, obviously), which ties in nicely with Constance's preceding monologue about remembering her own life, and the good that came with the bad.
I'm even tempted to envision the first half of the finale song in a different style, when the stage production would show a quick projection of Jane/Penny's life after she returned to the world of the living. Imagine watching this animated film, and for that segment alone, it becomes that really hyper-realistic, almost uncanny valley CGI animation style, to show that she really has joined the world of the living, i.e. our world, among us, the living breathing movie goers watching this, and watching the other kids still in limbo fade back to that main art style for the final number.
I don't know; it just feels like something that would be so engaging to see from an already compelling storyline and characters. Especially with more experimental animation projects on the rise right now

“If you loved me, you would have let me go by now.”
“It is because I love you that I won’t.”
I love these dialogues from Addies and Luc in the invisible life of addie larue. It totally represents two different perspectives on love.
Addie, like many people, thinks that love is purely selfless and good. (While she herself can have selfish actions or thoughts) Luc thinks that love is selfish, or at least can be. (Because to say that Luc is purely selfish would be quite hypocritical given all the events of the books and what he does there. Luc is much more complicated than that)
But I like that these two sentences summarize these two visions of love.
Love is selfless. Love is selfish. When in fact... it can be both, separately or together. Love can be something uniquely good and positive. Just as it can be negative. And sometimes it's both together. They are simply different forms of the same feeling.
All this to say that I hate when people try to say that love must be pure, good and selfless. It's bullshit. Whether in fiction or reality. The difference is that in fiction you can explore relationships with toxic connotations without risk, unlike real life or if there are red flags, you obviously have to just run to protect yourself.
Justice for romances like Luc & Addie, Jane Eyre & Rochester, Heathcliff & Catherine (Wuthering Heights), Coriolanus Snow & Lucy Gray Bird (The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), Christine & Erik (The Phantom of the Opera), Thomas & Edith (Crimson Peak), Hannibal & Will (Hannibal), Hannibal & Clarice (Hannibal), Raistlin & Crysania (Dragonlance), Sarah & Jareth (Labyrinth), Qu Xiao Feng & Li Cheng Yi (Goodbye My Princess), The Darkling & Alina (Grisha), Mare & Maven (Red Queen), Julian & Jenny (The Forbidden Game), and so so many others...
Not without kidding, there are so many examples in general, but also that I know and love that it is impossible to cite them all !

this sounds a little petty 😂 - or maybe it's a genuinely valid piece of frustration, idk - but whenever I see a list of Tudor queens or Tudor queen consorts and Elizabeth of York is either 1) not on the list or 2) regarded as one of the less "important" (what does that even mean? idk but people keep saying it) queens, it irritates me so much. You'd think people who care about the Tudors as a historical dynasty would give the first Tudor queen her due, but apparently the most she's good for is vague and rather inaccurate comparisons with Henry VIII's queens. Particularly Jane Seymour, even though I really don't think there's much of a "parallel" between the two women's personalities, queenship, marriages or even appearance at all.
Elizabeth was SO IMPORTANT for the inception of the dynasty. So damn important. Henry VII's route to kingship from 1483 did not begin with him. It didn't begin with him angling for the throne or people angling for his right to the throne. It began with Yorkist supporters trying to put the Princes on the throne and then beginning to consider their sister Elizabeth of York as the Yorkist heiress. Their loyalty to Henry VII was primarily as the future husband of Elizabeth of York, that's where he gained the majority of his new supporters, including William Stanley who was of immense, history-altering help in Bosworth, came from. (I thiiiink you had reblogged a post of yours with someone's additional added tags about this that framed it a lot better, recently but I can't find it rip). That is obviously not discounting Henry's competence or his capabilities or his victory, or Margaret Beaufort's admirable actions, but I just feel like Elizabeth of York's importance to the Tudor dynasty can never be overstated. Her position as his queen and wife were so important for his road to kingship AND the way he secured his reign and dynasty afterwards. Without Elizabeth of York, it's highly doubtful that Henry would have been able to gain the throne the way he did (at least, not without a significant more time, effort and a MUCH higher chance of failure) and it's also doubtful that he'd be able to secure it the way he did, because their unification from two opposing sides was a major factor in his propaganda and collective perception of their marriage, and the comfort, strength and support it evoked.
Obviously, this is within the bracket of the Tudor queens (because they're a very famous dynasty and all their queens are significantly better known than a lot of former or latter ones), but it's just frustrating??
again - I hope this doesn't sound very petty 😂
Hi! Sorry for taking so long to reply, but don't worry I get your frustration completely (and I share it too). I remember once seeing an incredibly pretty illustration for the Tudor consorts depicting all of Henry VIII's queens AND Philip of Spain..... and it didn't include Elizabeth of York. After Catherine of Aragon, Elizabeth was the longest reigning Tudor consort, being queen for no less than seventeen (17) years! She was immensely popular at her time which can be attested not only by the several presents she received from noble and common folk alike but also by the fact that she was the subject of a popular ballad that reimagined her as a romantic heroine (The Most Pleasant Song of the Lady Bessy), and the subject of songs during her lifetime. Her death was lamented by commentators from Ireland to Rome, and her reputation for charity was well-known. She was so popular in her time, it's a bit ironic that she has become, as Amy Licence puts it, 'the forgotten Tudor queen'.
(Of course, it's all relative as you said: we're talking about the Tudor perspective. Elizabeth is still more well-known than Philippa of Hainault or Anne of Bohemia, for example, if only because she's known in relation to the drama of her brothers and uncle, or because she's known as Henry VIII's mother).
In terms of importance, it's staggering how much her role has been downplayed. And I'm not only talking about the establishment of the Tudor dynasty, which is usually cited if only in brief terms. Her legacy lived on. As pointed out by Michelle Beer, for both Catherine of Aragon and Margaret Tudor, Elizabeth was the only queen consort whom they had experience observing, and her queenship style would have impacted their own. But going back to the establishment of her husband's reign, her importance was so much more than simply providing him with the supporters he needed (which is so often reduced to merely 'lifting a finger for a wedding ring'). I will never tire of pointing out Elizabeth's active participation in diplomacy, communicating with European princes in order to protect her husband's interests. If on one hand, Margaret of York was writing to the Pope asking him to lift his sanction of Henry VII, Elizabeth of York was writing to him to do exactly the contrary and reinforce his sanction.
She was an integral element of her husband's reign that went beyond her dynastic blood. Elizabeth provided a more human/accessible image at court celebrations and feasts, formal occasions and receptions of foreign delegations. Not for nothing, she was so frequently found at Henry VII's side on those occasions. Symbolically, she seems to have been greatly valued by Henry too, and I don't mean it simply by how her family symbol, the white rose, was integrated into official Tudor imagery. I'm also talking about how much weight he seems to have given to their union. In terms of art commissions done by Henry, their marriage was constantly alluded to in a way that referenced prophetic discourse: we have their marriage bed where Henry and Elizabeth are portrayed as the new Adam and Eve (Christ and the Virgin), the royal chapel at Greenwich where they were depicted holding hands (I will talk about it in the future), the family portrait where Henry and Elizabeth are depicted as if re-enacting their wedding vows, and even the shared tomb he commissioned.
Elizabeth of York was important and was valued on so many fronts, I daresay she was one of the most efficient queens in terms of successfully upholding her husband's reign. When it comes to Henry's ascension, I think Elizabeth and Margaret Beaufort might have been equally important (considering Margaret's articulation/funding and her claim from which Henry derived his own). But after Henry's ascension, my opinion is that Elizabeth was even more important for all the political, symbolic and of course, emotional support she provided her husband. They seem to have been a very effective partnership, and I doubt his reign would have been as successful as it was if it wasn't for Elizabeth.
So yeah, it is frustrating that she's not given the real importance that she's due when it comes to discussing Tudor history. Whenever she is talked about, she's so commonly relegated to a passive dynastic and decorative role, a trophy wife, it's insane.

random question but now that Louis has mostly toured 2 albums (obviously he still has latam to go but for now), he’s grown so much vocally in these few years and is also just singing things that suit him far better than 1D stuff, I was just wondering if you have like a top 5 or so specific performances you keep going back to watch
Confession: I don’t really rewatch performances except ones like the London Livestream (unavailable to purchase … why) and the very first AFHF.
Here are five performances that ripped me from my seat:
1. Louis singing We Made It as he ran out to the Crystal Palace stage at AFHF 2021. I can’t even watch it without feeling emotional. It was a long. fucking. time. coming. Louis was so beautiful, so alive and human, so in command of his audience and his music… everything at the height of Louis’ achievement up to that point. A validating, triumphant, heart-bursting moment.
2. Louis singing Too Young at Sirius XM. Louis had been working diligently with Helene Horlyck up to this point and it shows. His vocals here were better than vocals on FITF tour. The studio is the most revealing, challenging type of room— acoustic instruments, live audience, small space, soundscape designed to amplify every sniffle and cough. To say Louis smashed it is an understatement. He sang a simple ballad like it was no big deal, like a walk in the park, in the most challenging situation. And he looked sexy as hell.
3. Beautiful War, Live From London Livestream. If I could list every song from LFL, I would. This was the show that sold LTWT tickets, and Louis deserved every single kudos (Guinness Records and otherwise). The production was also immaculately done (thank you, Charlie and Dave Lightening), the arrangements, everything about this show. This song, in particular, shows Louis’ control of pacing, storytelling, drama, and theatrical instincts. Singing it is a little bit like musical theater— it tells an intense love story. And he does it brilliantly, again and again, 80+ times on tour.
4. Copy Of A Copy Of A Copy, LFL.
youtube
The staging here is perfection. Perfect storytelling, perfectly elegant and understated performance, and his vocals are the best he’s ever sounded. I would include the Copy Of A Copy performances from LTWT because the graphics are so on point.
5. Always You, LTWT Barcelona
youtube
The exuberance and joy in starting tour at last, with this song that should have been a single in 2017 and deserved to be toured in 2017-18. The feeling of liberation in the chorus and in the crowd singing it vibrates through the screen. Thank you, Mary Jane, for capturing it!
6. Honorable mention: Change, AFHF 2021
youtube
No words can describe how I love this song. This is an underrehearsed and flawed performance, but it is beautiful and raw, and I treasure it.

I honestly don’t like this recent trend in productions where the rest of the choir like. “tortures” jane in ballad of jane doe. obviously tortures is an exaggeration but when it’s everyone else directly yanking her around on strings or chains or strapping her to random set pieces it just doesn’t sit well with me, i prefer it when she has more “power” of her own in the song to contrast with the actual futility of her situation

Is it just me or does "Ballade of Jane Doe" fit Fracture Mirabel really well? In a sense of not knowing herself and the fact that she has no one close to her
The Ballad of Jane Doe fits many Mirabels. It’s on many of my AU playlists. Mainly canon, obviously RtC, but also Fracture and Reincarnated.
Even prior to giving it more Colombian elements and making it more of a waltz (a la Waiting On A Miracle) for the Ride the Cyclone AU, it is so in character.

QUICK
tell me about ur ideal production of rtc if you had complete control over EVERYTHING
OOOOOOHHHHH OKAY
Ideally Ricky would be played by a disabled transfem actor.
Costume wise it'd be as close as possible to the original 2016 costumes. Jane would have a ribbon tied around her kneck, Mischa would be wearing a wedding wring(a makeshift one), both Ocean and Jane would be wearing lockets, and Constance & Ocean would have friendship bracelets. Ricky's mobility aid would be decorated with stickers.
Songs:
Uranium Suite — they'd all be slightly off from each other. Mischa would be a few beats late, Noel would push Ocean out of the way, Ocean would attempt to take Mischa's phone from him.
During the boys line(The smart ones all packed up and went why stay if you can't pay the rent?) Ocean & Constance would dance together
During the girls line (Empty Streets and Empty Shops,Shuttered rows of mom and pops) Noel & Mischa would dance together
What The World Needs:
The Choir members mocking the actions Ocean is detailing(someone fetching her a coffee, someone shining her shoes, etc).Mischa would just casually pick her up everytime she says she gets up.
Would switch the Ricky lyric to 'We're bringing back the girl who plays the tambourine?' and everything that correlates w that.
Yk the movement Tiffany does during the 'teen sex kills!' line? That when the Ocean says 'he's never gonna breed!'.
Super epic Taylor Swift based outfit change for Ocean!!
Noel's Lament:
Outfit is HEAVILY inspired by Lola Lola. Long Haired Noel if possible.Entire song sang VERY aggressively.Beret's for the girls!!Bowler for Mischa!!!
Nischa dance before the kiss, which is less making out and more just a VERY passionate kiss(think Ohio production). Mischa mouthing 'I think I am in love with you.'
Home theatre type vid for the background of the 'my child,' scene.
Ocean, Jane, Ricky & Constance busily walking around Noel during a few parts(specifically during the 'eight months later!i catch typhoid flu!' bit, to emphasize that no one really cared.)
Every Story Has A Lesson:
TAP DANCING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Song Is Awesome:
Super Cool Sunglasses.
Switch Noel & Ocean during the 'Here comes the hotties, here comes the valet.' line.
Not much to say for the rest of this, but epic mic drop at the end(Ocean catches it)
Talia:
All the girls get flowy dresses & projections I keep going in between Noel in a wedding dress as Talia(not in like a 'Noel is Talia typa way') and there isn't anyone playing Talia.
If Noel is Talia:
Spacedolls & Blackrose dance together on the side.
If Noel isn't Talia:
Everyone switches dancing partners every now and then.
All the girls would have pretty flowers in their hair :)
Noel & Ocean gossiping when they dance during Talia.
Space Age Bachelor Man:
Title and lyrics would probably be changed. She would get a very pretty space themed outfit and I'd give her spacebuns.
We are KEEPING IN the space babies line!!!!
The cats would have furry tails.I would aim to make the meowing as comfortable as possible.
Either Karnak or Virgil as Count Dog-U-Lous!
Ocean being the only one to say 'Ricky, should we pull the switch?'
Only the cats saying 'That son of a bitch!'
Ricky sounding panicked during 'Why are they asking me?I'm a lover not a fighter!'
The Ballad Of Jane Doe:
She'd start out on the ground, looking around at all the choir members(who are imitating what would be her funeral).
As she's raised up she continues reaching out for each choir member, obviously unable to grab them.
She clutches her uniform at every religious reference(her only sense of identity being that she went to a Catholic school).
The tone of 'Just John and Me!' being hopeful.
The tone of the song slowly getting darker and slower until they reach the end.
The New Birthday Song:
It would imply Jane eating the cupcake AND the candle. She would also try to touch the fire.
Jane would hug Ricky after she's given the name Savannah, and then a scene of her pulling the lever(like in mccarter) would happen.
Mischa would ruffle Noel's hair while saying that Noel is tragic. Then Noel would hug Mischa.
During the Blackrose scene everyone else would be visible in the background.
Both Constance & Ocean would get progressively more upset but for VERY different reasons, until Constance finally punches Ocean.
Sugar Cloud:
Purposefully rocky vocals at the beginning before Constance eventually gets more comfortable with her voice.
Ocean nodding during the 'There is nothing wrong with the nicest girl in town!' line.
Noel & Ocean dancing together at some point!!!(THEY'RE FRIENDS TRUST).
Ocean holding up the microphone for Constance, Noel & Mischa dance together, Ricky & Jane dance together!!
It's Not A Game//It's Just A Ride:
Ocean singing the majority of it during Penny's life montage, everyone else joins in near the end.
Mischa shielding the rest of the choir as Karnak breaks.
Everyone copying the movements from their songs during the second half of the song!!!
The Order they stand next to each other is:
(Left to right):
Ricky,Constance,Noel,Ocean,Mischa.
DIALOGUE TIME:
Everyone jumping together as Karnak begins to speak.
'No, I mean me moving against my will.' would be kept in.
Somehow I would merge the improv scene & the porno is magical scene.
Mischa & Ocean both laughing at Noel's Taco Bell photo.
Ocean would be shoved out of the way for Noel's introduction.
Jane would be more life-like(Little Miss No Name based as well).
Ocean speech would include the 'every single one of you is a fricken rockstar!' line and she'd point to the audience as well.
Mischa would attempt to run away from Ocean when she says 'Mischa...I love you!'
This is all i have for now.

i think another reason why the ballad of jane doe is so tragic is because in every other persons song they have the rest of the choir join in.. from ricky and mischa in noels lament (playing the priest & an unnamed lover respectively) to constance and ricky in tsia (and all of the girls in talia), to ... everyone in sabm 😭, no one plays a huge role in jane doe's ballad, you'll see them at certain parts playing mourners but there's nothing there. they're just unnamed mourners. it really showcases how everyone in the choir has a pre-established connection with eachother but jane doesn't, and it really shows just how alone she feels in limbo. they feel pity for her but they know nothing about her. she'll join in on songs and dance but she never has a line in any of them, idk. obviously this all changes in the new birthday song / sugar cloud but i'm just thinking outloud

The ballad of Jane Doe
Hi everyone, it's your local demon but you can call me Sol :) Here's an analysis of (or just things I noticed) The Ballad of Jane Doe from Ride the Cyclone. Spoiler warning for the latter ahead.
Something that a lot of people have talked about already is that while this song is called a ballad, it's actually a lament (mirroring Noel's Lament which isn't a lament, but a ballad). A ballad is a song that tells a story while a Lament is to express grief, regret or mourning. The members of the choir sing about their lives and pull on the lever, revealing pictures of them alive, to show that they were once someone before the accident that brutally ended their short lives. And obviously, Penny cannot do that since she has no story to tell "And no story, what a shame." We'll circle back to that later, moving on.
In the first verse, Penny talks about how people try to console themselves in grief. "Some might say, we're released, Pushing daisies, deceased, But we all know the worms must be fed." Us humans have a natural habit of trying to make sense of things that we don't know because the unknown scares us. That includes using flowery language (literally) to talk about death. Penny is very blunt and doesn't sugarcoat things, and that doesn't change when she's talking about the gross details of death, such as rotting in a box 6 feet deep in the ground.
That carries onto the second verse "There's just one - lingering fear, Oh my soul - is it here, Or is it rotting somewhere with my head?" Here's a fun fact for those who haven't picked up on it yet, Penny's head throughout the musical isn't hers, but actually her doll's eyeless head. Someone (I can't remember who, if I do I'll tag them) pointed out that Penny's eyes may be blacked out as a reference to the saying "Eyes are the window of the soul" so I guess that answers Penny's question.
To get back at the story bit I put a pause on earlier, here's the fifth verse. "Oh no soul, and no name, was cruel existence only a sham?" I love the specific use of the word "sham" here, because Jane Doe and John Doe are called Sham names, previously only used in court. Since Penny can't remember who she was before her death, the only existence she's ever known is who she is now, nothing more than a Jane Doe, a cruel existence.
Moving on to the sixth verse, "Oh Saint Peter, let me in! You must know where I've been, Won't you tell me at last who I am?" We see some bits of Penny's backstory slip through the more she talks, just like now. The Lamb siblings used to be homeschooled, as told in the description/summary of "Legoland". Most homeschooled kids are actually religious, and are homeschooled so their parents can control their religious beliefs. On that note, Penny being homeschooled is probably the reason why no one came to identify her body, since she was wearing a high school uniform and her parents assumed it couldn't have been their daughter.
The seventh verse is a little more unclear "And from the ground, beneath my feet, I hear the anguish of the street." I think it's about her being trapped between heaven and hell, and she hears the pain of potential sinners in hell. That, or the anguish she hears come from the people she once knew but can't remember, or the families of the rest of the choir. If you've got any theories, feel free to drop them below.
The eighth verse speaks for itself, "A choir never complete" the choir isn't complete without Penny, and now that she has been revived and the rest of them stay dead, that statement carries on until the very end of the story.
Moving on to the ninth verse, "And like an old, forgotten tune, A song that no one knows, Forgot how it goes, Just John and me, Forever eternally, Jane Doe." Penny refers to herself as a song, tune, melody or anything music related, that people forget as time passes (remember that bit about time, I'll also circle back to that in the next verse.)
The iconic tenth verse "And I'm asking 'why Lord? If this is how I die Lord, why be left with no family and no friends? I've got no celebration, just this consolation. Time eats all his children in the end.'" Once again, we have religious language coming from Penny. She doesn't celebrate the state that she's in between life and death, she sees it more as a consolation. Lastly, Penny refers to herself as a song, tune or melody lost to time.
Onto the twelfth and last verse analysis "A melody, floats through the air, When silence falls, does no one care? Does anyone care?" She's referring to how when she "floated through the air" ("flied" during her death in the coaster.) and died, no one cared. Nobody came to identify her body, they couldn't find her head, and after the event died down, everyone stopped caring about that nameless girl, because no one knew who she was.
Thank you so much if you've read up until now, what other details have you noticed in the lyrics? Feel free to share them in reblogs or comments.

Hello everybody here's Annie to tell you (ramble to you) ab the ballad of jane doe!!!
first off, I've heard some people say that it should be "Jane Doe's Lament" and "The Ballad of Monique Gibeau", since a ballad tells a story, and to lament is to feel pain, agony, etc, but i think that is WRONG. Bc as Karnak states, the entire point of the show is to give them the chance to express what they wish they were, not what they were perceived as. a ballad tells a story. Jane wanted a story. Noel wanted tragedy. I think the titles fit them very well. Anyways, let me tell u ab some lyric choices that I luv sm bc this entire musical is a lyrical work of art. Ok first first!!! Lots of people get confused by the beginning of the song, but I think it makes sense if you've seen or read Legoland, because penny was unhappy with life, she had a realistic point of view, she always knew she would die one day, she is just lamenting (ba-dum tsss) the fact that she can't remember who she is. Another thing I like is that in fall fair suite when she does her screaming thing they're all spinning around and she's repeating the same notes bc its like she's swirling around them, but in her song it just represents falling straight down. Another thing is the next bit where she references Saint Peter, who is the guy who judges souls and decides if they were good or bad or wtv. I like this part bc the way she says it so desperately is that she doesn't care if she was a horrible person, she just longs to know who she is. "And from the ground, beneath my feet" this line is more evidence that penny was still dying after the rest of the choir was already dead, disproving the theory that penny was dead before everyone else. One of my favorites bc it has so many ways it could be interpreted, "a choir never complete." There are a few things I think it means. 1. She lost her head, this can be either metaphorical (referring to the "head voice" which is a way one can sing) or literal (since one of penny's body parts is missing, they can never reunite the entire choir.) 2. Penny was the only soprano. It's clear that Ocean's actor has a wide vocal range when you hear her sing in the background of other songs, but whenever she sings as Ocean, she mostly stays in alto range, meaning penny would have been the only soprano in the choir, and the choir isn't complete without their soprano. 3. Since it's implied that penny joined the choir at the last minute, she never got to perform with them, they were never complete. This is my favorite bc it shows up multiple times!!!! "An old forgotten tune, a song that no one knows, forgot how it goes" any time she references a song, the song she's talking about is penny. In Legoland, penny has a quote something along the lines of "Im just one song in a big symphony." (I can't remember the full quote right now.) She's saying that penny is forever forgotten. "Why be left with no family and no friends?" In this part in the musical, the choir covers their faces. None of them know who Jane is. "Time eats all his children in the end." This is a reference to Kronos, who is sometimes associated with time, and is known for eating his children. It's also a reference to earlier in the musical when she talks about lions eating their children. "A melody floats through the air, when silence falls, does no one care?" Going back to what I said earlier, the melody is penny. When penny dies, silence falls. The melody stops. But there's no one to care. "Another sad forgotten tune, another song that no one knows, so that's how it goes!" I like to think that she's talking about Jane now. Jane is the other song, but they know how that song goes already!! So, that's how it goes. "No one to sing, no one to sigh" here, she's saying that when people hear a Jane Doe body was discovered, people are obviously sad, but nobody can say "Hey, that's somebody i know." "Isn't there anyone to tell me who I am?" Penny is Christian, so she was probably expecting to go to heaven and see her relatives who could identify her. "Just a sorry speculation" bc Jane's entire existence is a speculation. Nobody knows who she is.
Thank you :]

This is my theory for the Jane Doe Murder scenario:
So pretty much the basis is that we don’t know who Jane Doe is right? The musical alludes to the fact that she was never in the choir at all. There’s a huge theory going around that Jane Doe was not even on the Cyclone at all but we instead killed in the fair grounds where the rollercoaster landed. She was beheaded by an attacker instead of the rollercoaster taking her out. That’s why they never found her head because her attacker took it with them. Karnak wanted Jane to have a chance of life as well as the victims on the roller coaster. That also created an equal number. The way she got into a Saint Cassian uniform? Two theories 1) Karnak conjured her up that way to fit into the group. 2) her murderer put her body in that to make it seem like she died along with the rollercoaster disaster. Thus is why no one else in the choir remembers her. Or if she was killed a long time ago after classes at Saint Cassian schools and was murdered, the other Saints obviously wouldn’t know who she was. I like the she was killed a long time ago theory because that would explain the Victorian doll, not understanding somethings, and references to old literature in the Ballad of Jane Doe.
This theory is absolutely insane but I love it so so so much. Sorry for so much word vomit
