Do you respond to comments? Yes, every one. I know how anxiety-inducing it can be to leave a comment, so I really want to put the effort in to respond. It might take me a few days, as per the anxiety, but there's nothing I love more than discussing my fics!

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? so i bite my tongue and hope for blood (warning for non-con) Rush is drugged and does things to Telford. Telford understandably reacts poorly. No working through the trauma here - just trauma.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Hmm, looking through my fics I guess I'm not a happy endings kind of guy. 😂 Think the best I can do is Valentine's Day, with Q worrying for a lot of it that Bond is sexually pursuing him only for things to end up firmly in the asexual category with cuddling and talking and petting cats.

Do you get hate on fics? Nah, everyone's pretty chill. Though of course I'm not involved in any large fandoms and that's where the more aggressive people tend to end up.

Do you write smut? Hell yeah I do! When I started posting to A03 near the end of 2022 it was the majority of what I wrote. Recently I've not really been feeling it - ever since I really had to force things so I'd be able to finish the 10k final chapter of the threesome fic - so I've been writing other stuff. I'm sure the smut will reactivate at some point.

Craziest crossover: I've never written any, and I'm afraid I'm not a fan of crossovers at all. 😂

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Nah, not to my knowledge. Though I guess with AI scrapers you never know these days.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No, though of course I'd give my permission for it.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nothing posted to AO3. Back in the day I RPed Doctor Who smut and stuck it on FFnet, and got a warning slapped on my account for it. 👎

All time favourite ship? Young/Telford/Rush, either all together in a threesome, or paired off in any possible permutation. These three guys are the revolving door of my brain.

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I haven't worked on Your Own Worst Enemy for a long while, a fic where Rush, Young, Telford, and Destiny are all recovering from different forms of sexual assault. Though I'm really pleased with what I've got so far, I'm not sure where the plot goes next and I want to handle the subject matter with care. I think it's the kind of fic I have to complete before I start posting.

What are your writing strengths? I really enjoy taking a character and changing their sexuality to all the possible options to explore the possibilities. I've been told I do this while still remaining in character because I do the work to get there instead of just slapping a label on. For example, I've written fics where Telford is straight, bi, gay, aromantic, and am currently working on one where he's asexual. I love seeing what shapes I can bend characters into while still remaining true to canon.

What are your writing weaknesses? I see writeblrs talking about doing big cuts in their editing process, trimming off thousands of words at a time! While I understand why, cutting a scene I've worked hard on is something I can rarely bring myself to do.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language? I think my knee jerk response would be to say yes, but don't overdo it. Even if the translations are readily available (found this skin which works for both desktop and mobile users and uses HTML instead of making the author fiddle around with editing the workskin for each individual translation) having to move to hover/click can take the reader out of the story if it's done to an extreme degree.

First fandom you wrote in? Doctor Who, in... 2007 I want to say.

Favourite fic you’ve written? down here they call us animals is the first one that springs to mind, as it was such a massive sense of accomplishment to finish a long project, and making my own vampire lore and history was really enjoyable. I have to give a mention to a memory, a distant echo (warning for memories of non-con) as well though. I feel like I crafted that with my bare hands from clay, you know? Telford's trauma... I could wax fucking poetic about it for days.

Also I viscerally remembered this pose from Kibbitzer that I had to use for Todd. Wraith tummy😍

I had to sneak Keller in there somehow. I imagine a scene where John mentions needing to pick up new socks or something from earth, and Keller would offer to pick them up since she's going on leave soon. Then Rodney would get involved-probably offended (actually embarrassed) that John would ask a girl to pick up clothes for him. To which Keller would just "raise eyebrow" and then Teyla and Todd walk into the mess unsuspectingly. Somehow that leads to Todd getting one of those thumb hole shirts and jeans while Telya gets an elegant outfit. Nooo I don't have a thing for maxi dresses *hides all my ocs who only wear long dresses*

“I’m Tommy,” the other guy in the elevator says, eventually. They’ve been stuck between floors four and five for a while now, and after the initial flurry of excitement – elevator car shuddering to a stop, total darkness blanketing them for a few seconds before the emergency lighting kicked on, Buck calling 9-1-1 because he’d had his phone in his hand already – it’s been silent, and that’s – fine, honestly, Buck’s never actually been stuck in an elevator with a stranger before, but he thinks that’s probably normal, but.

He’s been doing the thing he does where he stares at someone like a creep, he knows he has, but he can’t help it, okay. He could swear he’s seen this guy before. Not for long, he’s pretty sure, but he’s definitely seen him somewhere. He just couldn’t say where for the life of him.

Also, the guy – Tommy – is giving him kind of an expectant look, and Buck abruptly realizes that this is usually the point in the conversation where he’s supposed to introduce himself. Shit. “I’m – Evan,” he says, inexplicably. “Buckley. Evan Buckley.” 

“Tommy Kinard,” the man amends. “Nice to meet you, Evan Buckley. Circumstances notwithstanding.”

New Sideblog - LadyAldhelm

Hey y'all I have decided to clean up the Lord-Aldhelm blog and bring the focus back to Aldhelm/The Last Kingdom-centric posts only. I will keep this blog for posting my own stuff (gifs, edits, art, fics) as well as reblogging anything Aldhelm-adjacent (as well as the other Mercians).

So for everything else, I have opened a sideblog (Lady Aldhelm) This will be for reblogging anything only tangentially related to TLK, like writing resources, gifmaking resources, tumblr stuff, silly posts, general fandom stuff, and honestly whatever else that crosses my dash that I fancy.

From now on, all the tag and ask games (that are not TLK specific) will be posted to this blog. I would greatly appreciate follows on this sideblog, as it will be pretty active with reblogs of all kinds of interesting stuff.

Three ships: Any combination of the three SGU boys Telford, Rush, and Young, though I'll count that as one for interest's sake. I've been reading a fair bit of Daniel Craig era Bond/Q recently and something I always like is James Flint/John Silver from Black Sails!

Favorite color: Red

Currently consuming: A baguette.

First ship: I think classic era Doctor/Master, specifically 3/Delgado. Grew up watching reruns of it and their swordfight was a big highlight.

nobody actually tagged me today, but i’m so psyched that i was finally able to start writing this that i’m doing it anyway~

It’s past one in the afternoon by the time Tommy drops onto the other end of the couch, breathing a little hard, sweating. Content to sit in silence for the moment, apparently, as a few minutes pass and the only sound is that of Tommy’s breath evening out.

Buck breaks it himself, eventually, as he feels more and more aware of Tommy’s left hand on the cushion between them, palm up, as his skin starts to itch with the urge to reach over and thread their fingers together. “That everything?”

“Yeah, that’s it,” Tommy says, and sighs once. “Feels weird to be moving across the country without even a couch.”

They’ve had this discussion already – they’ve had all these discussions already, honestly, Buck could probably have them in his sleep at this point. Has had them in his sleep, actually, which is how the rest of the 118 had found out, and hadn’t that been a fun shift. He’d been worryingly close to saying the Q word just to get away from the questions. But still. “Do you – do you want to take the couch? Because it’s yours, you know, and if we rearrange the boxes in your trailer there’d definitely –”

“Evan,” says Tommy softly, gently pulling Buck back down to the couch from where he hadn’t even realized he’d started to get up. “The place I’m renting is furnished, and I actually like what it’s furnished with. And you love this couch.”

I love you, but that doesn’t seem to make a difference, Buck thinks. Doesn’t say, because it would be cruel, and because it’s not entirely accurate anyway. “It’s a good couch,” he says, instead, trying to think about something other than the pressure of Tommy’s hand where it’s still pressed against his upper arm. “You, uh. You’ve got good taste.”

This is from my S2 Aldflaed fic (still not titled yet lol), which is turning out to be a prequel for Springtime it seems:

One afternoon, after Aldhelm had spent the morning listening to Ludeca practically screaming in his ear until he was out of breath, Aldhelm walked through the courtyard to get some fresh air and try to defuse. His nerves were frayed, and he knew if he did not take a break he would snap. The cool air felt refreshing on his flushed face, and the silence was pleasant despite the ringing in his ears. He sat on a stone bench in the courtyard deliberating on his next course of action. He heaved a dramatic sigh, and stood, walking to the entrance of the castle. As he opened the door, Aethelred crossed his path. Aldhelm increased his speed and caught up with him, telling Aethelred that he was needed in the solar to deal with important matters. Aethelred just hand-waved at him, and continued on his way, pushing past the taller man and made a beeline for the nearest tavern. Aldhelm shook his head in disbelief, and returned to the solar to continue working.

Currently Watching: uh... before life imploded on me I was watching Halo (which I very much have been enjoying and really need to catch up on). And I don't know if the cyclical re-watch of SGA counts because that's a Sunday regular.

Currently Obsessed With: Stardew Valley 1.6 just dropped so, it's been the forefront of my current obsessions. Even if a number of my fav mods haven't been updated yet (and a couple look as though they won't be at all), I am really enjoying all of the new content. Even the fishing, to a point. But aside from that, been thinking of the AU that I wrote for SGA for @a-storm-of-roses, giving Rodney McKay dragon heritage... where he likes to hoard scientific discoveries and credit... and how that might affect things. Re-reading the "Shattered Albion" series written by deathofaraven for Fable because that is still a fucking awesome fic.

From Kitsune's Bride The other girls surge close to her to listen, “No, I got close enough to get a good look at the yokai envoy. The Kitsune General is gorgeous, I couldn’t look away. He has this long white hair that flows down his back and fine delicate features. I wouldn’t mind if he were my husband, if it wasn’t for his eyes.

“I couldn’t help but stare, but he turned his head and caught me at it and his eyes were so frightening. Like ice. As if he were looking at me and seeing me as nothing more than a bug.”

The other girls tittered and whispered, clearly excited at the prospect of the beautiful man, frightening though his reputation was. From Prey He lets his sharp teeth show in a smile, “You have killed enough of us to know. But yes, even us. We must take care not to breed faster than our food sources can be replenished.”

“Us, you mean,” Sheppard’s voice is hard.

From Kitsune's Bride Peering through the veil his eyes darted over the people sitting in the aisles. Most were strangers, members of the king’s court come to see the Kitsune’s latest bride, the veil obscuring them to giant blobs. Towards the front his family were seated, he could not see his father’s face, but he recognized the stony set to his shoulders. His stepmother and stepsisters tittered and hid their faces behind their fans, unaware of the doom he would bring down on them.

From Awkward Conversations

This is the part of Sheppard that is wraith, fierce and protective, pushing him into place with a ferocity that any war wraith would envy.

He melts into it. It tugs on his instincts, his need to be controlled. So few queens have been able to dominate him in this way, and very rarely blades. Most gave way to the strength of his own personality, but Sheppard is like a fire, burning its way into him, blazing at him through the hive bond. The calculated risk of yanking at Sheppard’s security pays off in the delightful press of his body against Guide.

Sheppard’s hands roam over him, pushing and teasing through the thin pliable leather of the flight suit. One hand reaches down and hooks under his thigh, pulling his leg up to give Sheppard a better angle as he ruts his still clothed cock against Guide. He moans into the human’s mouth, bringing his hands up and tangling them in the soft wild brown hair so he can’t escape.

Not that he tries. His tongue tangles with Guide’s in a dance of domination that Guide is slowly losing. He quickly traps Guide with his clever tongue and lips, sucking on his tongue in a crashing rush of arousal that has him sliding out of his sheath into the tightness of his flight suit.
