Hey there! I'm so happy you found one of my terms to be helpful for you.

To paraphrase my original definition of autonomous gender, it refers to a gender experience that is 1) self-determined, 2) independent from outside governance as well as 3) a sense of freedom regarding one's actions, wills or desires.

In other words, this means that autonomous genders are fully defined by oneself, without the imposition of outside structures and authorities (systemic or interpersonal). This can be expressed in numerous ways, such as a Maverique, Autonomique or Egogender identity.

Gender autonomy can also extend to those who have individualistically redefined preexisting, heteronomic roles, identities and/or presentations. To rephrase, non-autonomous gender experiences can be reconceptualized through one's selfhood and/or liberation of the self.

Autonomy as a nature of gender can be kinda confusing. If you need clarification or have any other questions, please don't hesitate to send me another ask! :-)

Mewovanni AU

In a world where the experiments went one step further.  After everything else failed, it was easy for the champion at the time to convince Giovanni to become a test subject in something unthinkable: trying to fuse Pokémon DNA into a living human subject.  

Desperation will drive a man to do many things.  

Truthfully, Giovanni doesn’t remember exactly what the procedure was or even how long it took; that period a grey blur in his mind.  But what he does remember is the aftermath, curled up on a makeshift bed, trembling, too exhausted to do anything but too restless to relax, nausea swirling in his gut, eyes and lungs burning. 

Until, much like the Pokémon process of evolution, he changed.  Still inherently humanoid, but now covered in a thin, short coat of pink fur that felt almost like velvet; a long tail similar to Mewtwo’s, protrusions on his head and spine, and psychic power not comparable to his progenitor, but still far beyond what any human should have.  

What followed was brutal and constant training as both he and his champion so desperately tried to harness his newfound strength into something that would be useful for the war effort.  

In the end, it was for nothing.  The war ended exactly as it would have had it not happened.  

Feeling the hopelessness, Giovanni begged his (ex)champion.

‘Please.  The war is over.  You surrendered.  I want to go home.  I want to see my family.’

The champion did not answer immediately, tsking and turning away.

‘Why?  You’re a failure, a disappointment, and a freak.  What makes you think they want to see you, or even, that they’re still alive?���

And so Giovanni was essentially held captive by a man he once dedicated his life to, a man he once loved.  He began to see the champion’s true colors:  he did not, or at least not anymore, see Giovanni as a friend, a person; but rather a thing to be owned and controlled.  

It took awhile.  Giovanni feigned illness, and eventually, the champion and the associates he had left removed the restraints to try to find a cause, and Giovanni escaped.  

He hid in the Viridian Forest--but never did dare to go back home.  The champion’s comment had hit too closely. 

He was a failure.  He was a freak.

What was once kindness and a desire to help the world curled into bitterness and a desire for vengeance.  He learned how to use Transform--returning to his normal appearance--and with his charisma (and perhaps a hint of subconscious psychic ability) he appealed to others who were dissatisfied with the war, with the champion, with the world.

Dubbed Team Rocket, Giovanni promised his group that he would set things right.  He would fix Kanto, he would see the champion punished for his cowardice.

His power would never be for another’s use again.

While I’m willing to follow the Team Rocket path, most usually, he keeps to himself. Whatever happened to Rocket is up to the other mun; probably created under Archer instead.
