#atla crit too I guess

i'm trying to motivate myself to farm his bis set but it's honestly really hard (ar 59, burnt out as hell). That and I don't really have a team comp built around bloom reactions so it's not as efficient.

Also the information I give below is my personal suggestion, also gotten from several guides I've followed.

As of now, I'd recommend a mix of any of the 2-pieces between the ones that give +15% anemo damage bonus and +18% atk, or 4 piece shimenawa, if you don't mind not having his burst up as much. Obviously the newest one is the best for him but ya girl's tired™ with artifact farming so he'll take what he can get for now.

For weapons, aside from his signature, all of the 5-star catalysts with atk/crit substats can work for him (kagura's, lost prayer, skyward atlas). 4 stars include the dodoco tales, the widsith, solar pearl, and mappa mare—the blackcliff catalyst works too but it's not as viable.

The team comps... Imma be honest with you, mine is also clunky. It's recommended that you have a good shielder because he's super vulnerable to getting interrupted— i haven't tried him out for abyss because I don't have a good comp for him, and also because faruzan never came home (plus apparently she's only good at c6) so his damage isn't like floor 12 clear worthy just yet. One team comp I wanted to try is double pyro + anemo with venti, bennett and ideally thoma for the shield, but I don't have thoma built 💀 there are others like a taser team with a hydro character + two electro ones (ex. Fischl + beidou), but again, ideally he needs a shield and I don't have beidou built either. Another is freeze with layla, but I don't have her. I have diona built but her shield isn't as strong.

TL;DR I don't have a solid group recommendation, sorry ;-;

Anyway yeah, here's my take on his builds. You can probably find tons of these in the internet already, anyways. Sorry for rambling in your inbox!

Artefacts...Well, just like you it'll take some time to farm the new domain so I've slapped a 4pc Viridescent on him for now. But also I don't really know if I want the new artefact on him, I know it's the ideal one but I think Viridescent is better for elemental reactions and I love playing with that (except that I don't even have much proper elemental reactions with his current team comp, lol. So I'm still going to farm for the new artefact)

I also wanted to do double pyro with benny and thoma but just like you my thoma isn't built and I don't think I really want to build him if he's not a very flexible team player (e.g. If I can't put him in other teams I'm not gunna bother) So my current team for Scara right now is Yunjin (for the Normal Attack and Attack Speed buff) + Zhongli (for the shield) so that gives me double Geo with 15% damage increase and the last character I usually switch it in and out depending on what elemental reaction I want plus the talent effect on Scaramouche. The problem with this team comp is that it doesn't really play a lot with elemental reactions hahaha it just seems very limited, but it works, since my Yunjin and Zhongli has been properly built since forever and they are very flexible characters. Much like you I've been constantly looking at other shielders though, to at least get a non-geo character to be a shield (I always feel like putting a Geo in an anemo forward team is a waste but I don't have a lot of choices at the moment haha)

True that there are a lot of online guides but most of them rely on Faruzan! That and they almost always assume that we have all the characters built and don't really mix and match a lot of diff characters so its nice to hear what others have!

I'm surprised you didn't get Faruzan tho! Haha.... I C6ed her before I even got Scaramouche...I guess he was being real stubborn, lost my 50-50 to Diluc before I got him but eh, I like Diluc.

do you think LoK would be different if Sokka was still around?

this is a fundamentally impossible question to answer, because the real question is, do I think lok would be different if it served as a coherent continuation of the story atla set out to tell, in which case the answer is indubitably yes, transformatively so, and I believe that sokka’s existence would serve a much larger role in the narrative, whether or not he is currently alive or dead in the chronology of the show. I think his absence in the show is felt not only due to the fact that he is, for all intents & purposes, deceased, but also due to the fact that his achievements are barely acknowledged if at all (this also feels true for katara in many respects, most egregiously in book 2, even though she does occupy more of a presence within the show).

in lok as it is, the surviving original gaang members (katara, zuko, toph) are not exactly key players in the show (though toph and katara’s roles in korra’s healing in book 4 cannot be easily dismissed), so I don’t think sokka would play that big a role either were he “alive.” rarely in lok do characters behave logically or thoughtfully, so even if sokka were there, it would be hard for me to state that he would act as a voice of reason or present intelligent leadership, but rather his presence would probably be mostly passive, much like katara and zuko. I think lok would be different if it was good, and whether or not sokka had an active role in that (entirely hypothetical) show is thus rendered irrelevant.

Something that’s bugged me for a while about LOK is how they handled the Fire Nation.

They establish very clearly that monarchy is flawed, doomed to fail, autocratic, etc. I can’t really speak to whether they’re right or wrong on that from a modern perspective (I’m American and thus haven’t had experiences with monarchs), but from a historical perspective, they do seem to be right.

So then...why don’t they ever criticize the Fire Lord?? Or question the position?? Or ANYTHING??

Like...I headcanon that Zuko (and later Izumi) have been implementing changes to dilute the power of the position, and it’ll probably take at least 300 years to dismantle it entirely (since it took 300 years to consolidate that position as autocratic, according to the wiki). Zuko’s suffered at the hands of one (nearly two, if not for Ursa) Firelord(s), and Izumi is very clearly disillusioned with her family history. I don’t believe for one second that they’d just...let the monarchy keep going unchecked–it doesn’t suit them.

But...why didn’t the show ever give Zuko or Izumi a chance to outright SAY IT?? Just have Korra or someone question why the Fire Nation is allowed to keep its monarchy, and Zuko and/or Izumi can explain the changes they’ve been implementing over the past 70 or so years! Something to show they’re actively working to dismantle the position!

It’s not a huge thing, but in some ways, that’s why it upsets me. It could’ve been added so easily, if they wanted to

Wait, people can submit fanfics to you and you post them? So if someone wanted to submit a fanfic idea they had but not worry about having to consistently post/write, they can write it to you and you'll post it?

i think the general answer is yes, i'm totally down to post people submissions who don't have a blog or who don't want to be attached to their fic! but there'd have to be some guidelines on it:

i'd only really accept fics for fandoms that i'm actually in, and atm that means i'm more likely to accept a Sanders Sides fic than any other fandom jdfhdjs. i guess a loose list of fandoms would be SaSi, TAZ, ATLA, and maybe C0bra Kai, but if there's another fandom i've mentioned liking on here that you'd wanna submit for, i can consider it! like if it's a Crit Role or TMA fic or something, i'd prob be cool w posting it, i just think there might be better blogs who're in those fandoms that might take submissions.

tbh i think the only other guideline I'd really have is like, i hold the right to refuse to post a submission for any reason. i will never ever judge a submission based on 'quality' (so please don't worry abt ur fic not being 'good enough' to submit!!! i still wanna see it!) but if i personally just don't vibe with it in any way, i will make a post letting u know.

(i'll also go ahead and say here that i'll never take someone's submission content and post it under my own name! just covering my bases ajdhsj)

also in general i do prefer that people ask permission before submitting fics, like just an ask that says "hey I have a lee Roman/ler Virgil fic, can I submit it to you?" so i can jdge whether or not i wanna post it before having u go through the trouble of submitting the whole thing.

Alright fuck it I figured it's time to put my nuts in the ring when it comes to writing up rwde reviews about shiddy writing.

I already made a post about how closure doesn't exist in rwby, so that SHOULD trim this a bit. Hopefully.

These last two of seasons of rwby have been ASS and idk even know where to start. So lemme do some character progressions instead of jumping all over the place. Let's start with my fav: Neo. And I'll be as unbiased as possible.

Starting from v6, she came back and teamed up with Cinder. Cool? Cool. Fair enough. V7 onwards she's been treated like a BITCH by Cinder and has visibly shown her disdain for that on screen. And yet she still chooses to hang with her? Why? Like... Genuinely why? Is Neo not like the stealth queen? And the driver of a thousand vehicles? Why does she even need Cinder? Could she not have just jacked an airship herself, flown to Atlas after getting the info from Cinder, and began her hunt there? Instead she's just some minion to her now? Okay fine so let's say their team up makes sense in some odd world. Why the fuck would Neo agree to go to Cinder in the Satan Whale? Why? Why the fuck is she there? After being denied multiple times to get to Ruby and even being treated like shit with visible disdain, she should have absolutely left with a middle finger to Cinder. But nope. We get to see her be visibly uncomfortable in this cult and clearly wants out. Which she does, so good shit. She snatches the lamp and heads out. Fair enough, I guess? I don't know why the fuck she trusts Cinder to go back to her after being treated like shit. After Cinder's doodoo attitude towards her, Neo should be like "wow maybe she's lying to me about roman lemme check with this genie bitch" but no. And don't say "oh well she can't talk so jinn wouldn't be able to answer her." Fuck that. 1. I should hope that the password wouldn't be so ableist against mute people. 2. Neo's resourceful as hell. Text to speech and boom. There ya go. Instead she goes back to Cinder like a lost puppy after being shown multiple times how much she hates her. Why the fuck does she need Cinder to get to Ruby? I have no fucking idea! And then everyone's favorite scene. I know I know she killed Blake's hip atta-- I mean character devel-- I mean Yang. That scene. Was doodoo. And I'll get into more intricacies about it much later. But for now, why the hell was Neo so sloppy in that assassination? Like gurl you revealed yourself so early from, apparently so far away? Pretend to be a passerby with everything disguised (I saw that lamp) impale her and boom. Done. Not sure why she went for a slash either when a thrusting weapons like that would be best for a quicker impale. It would have made any on screen death so much more confirmed instead of up in the air bullshit.

Next we have Ironwood. Oh James. How far you've fallen. I don't really understand what the hell they're doing with this character any more. Like... At all. I fully expect him to turn into the joker and join salem at this point lmfao. At first he was complex, but cool, right? Ok a stern leader who still wants to help people and see team rwby in beacon grow and be successful. Fair enough. Then came v4 and he was like "hey yang. Heard about the arm. Here ya go homie." That was pretty cool to give to a young veteran. Fair enough. But good god once v7 hit, everything just went haywire. He started making the dumbest decisions. Kind of. I understand how he's like "aite let's sack mantle to ensure atlas lives cause otherwise both parties will be dead." except idk why he didn't just make a plan to evacuate everyone to mantle first but whatever. I mean team rwby did it like... In a day? Shouldn't have been hard. Then he started losing his fucking mind. There was an entire thing about trust issues and plans (ngl I didn't care enough to pay much attention) and he ends up wanting to arrest the kids more than actually stopping Salem. Like homie. Why. You have a gang of strong ass hunters on your side, don't just throw that away. They could say "acab fuck the police anarchy reigns" and you should still keep them just to fight literal satan on your doorstep. But he fucking drops everything and resources and materials on arresting them. Like why???? And then he just shoots a child just because? And he goes around full fascist mode and his character is just gone at that point. He literally actively wants to kill the people of Mantle now instead of stopping Salem and I don't fucking get it. He could literally plot with salem about how to nuke mantle and I'd be like "shoulda seen it coming". And then when he gets outta jail he kills Jacques... Just cause? Like why? I understand Jacques let Salem's forces in and eventually led to this shit show, but like... Atlas was falling. Just leave. I don't understand. But I guess it's to show how hateful he is towards those who oppose him, so whatever. Idk I'm so done with him. This man is just so boring I just can't wait for him to get killed off so we can be done with him. I'm sure I missed a fuckload of intricacies about Ironwood but I really don't care at all about this schmuck.

Next on the shitlist is the entirety of team rwby. Just to compact it all into one. Ruby has been getting on my nerves SO much. She is so holier than thou and always right. If she had just openly talked with Ironwood about all these secrets and shit, none of this would be happening. Yeah there would be panic, but homie what's the alternative? Fight in secrecy against the police and Salem?

"hey Ruby I noticed that lamp you keep hanging around. What is that?"

"oh uhhhh definitely not a grimm magnet HAHAHAHAH"

Like no shit everyone's gonna be pissed when you lie to them and keep these secrets. Also these plans are dogshit. "We gotta get a message out." To who??? The rest of the world is gonna see some lil kid be like "hey Ironwood's gone crazy and some evil witch bitch is here tryna kill us all." Like who are they gonna believe? A random girl or the fact that ironwood is the head of the largest military state in the world? For all they know it's just some prank and it's totally unbelievable.

Team RWBY sippin team for v8 and doing nothing all volume? Nice. "But they needed to protect Nora." You mean to tell me Ruby, May, Blake, and Weiss all had to be there to protect someone. The Grimm attacked once and that was it. You guys have no medical history. At all. All you did was wrap her up and drink tea during the volume where there's a literal war happening outside. You don't just "wait for help" you ARE THE HELP you're hunters you fucks! Go out and get shit done. Have like one person stay behind just in case shit goes wrong. Preferably Weiss so she can have those meaningful conversations with her family members she never fucking had. But whatever. Ruby and Yang get into... A fight? That lasts for five seconds when they leave and then when they see each other again it just doesn't matter so I'm not sure why the fuck it was brought up at all. It had no impact whatsoever. And there's a ton more I'm sure I'm just burning out at this point. But let's just talk about the big shit. Yang's death. Everyone's saying she'll come back because plot armor but I'm in the "I genuinely think she's dead" group. She turned to Dust as she fell. I mean who knows maybe Deus Ex machina rears it's convenient head. I hate hate hate how that scene was done. That was such an unbelievable death. Weiss, Ruby, and even Blake all have ways of catching her. Easily. Weiss has like fifty ways of catching someone between summons and semblance. Ruby can teleport around the world. And Blake can just shadow clone jutsu her way there but WHATEVER. I guess everyone was too busy being nerfed and sucking ass. Again. And the reactions? Dog shit. Even when she sacrifices herself for Ruby, it's still all about the bees. It's so genuinely annoying. Ruby just whispers her sisters name and that's pretty much it aside from a >:( face here and there. Weiss doesn't even grieve she just comforts Blake who's losing her shit. And I don't know why Weiss doesn't grieve cause SHE WAS HER HOMIE TOO LIKE C'MON RT LET'S SEE SOME UGLY SOBBING DAMN so now everyone's gone feral (except Weiss who just doesn't give a shit about Yang apparently.) And despite Blake saying "yo let's not kill people aite Yang?" She's gonna say fuck that and have it out for Neo and Cinder out of revenge. Alright I guess. That's fair honestly. Challenging ones own morals based on emotions. Good enough. But god I just wished we could see more from Ruby and Weiss during that. Also I'm so sick of the "oh this character fell are they dead are they not?" Thing that rt keeps doing. Just have Neo impale her and go. Easy as that. On screen confirmation. I'm sure team RWBY has a fuckload more to crit but I'm done with this topic.

Winter. Bootlicking to the extreme that she casts aside her own sister and doesn't care if her friends die. Nice. No closure at all after she turns back to being a good guy I guess. I'm done with her. Not a whole lot to say.

The aceops are just so dumb. I'm done with them. Everytime they talk about genocide for the good of atlas I'm just rolling my eyes. Just say you're fascists and move on. And idk why the fuck harriet is gonna bomb an empty mantle. Atlas is already falling on it, you literally have no reason to do this. And this plot point is stupid as hell. Next.

Cinder. I'm not sure why they decided to randomly drop her background story into the mix. Like I don't think anyone gives a shit after all the crap she's done. I'm so sick of rt trying to make her some "uwu woe is me" woobie after doing so much shit and killing so many people. Her uwu crying moments are just stupid. Honestly watts is one of my fav characters just for telling her how crappy she is. Next

Hazel. Homie is dumb as hell. He hates Ozpin because his sister died in a mission. Fair enough. Why the fuck would you ever join Grimm Hitler when Grimm are what killed her in the first place??? Like??? Just hate him on your own time dude, jesus. And he is consistently hypocritical and it's so stupidly funny how bad this character is.

"HOW MANY MORE CHILDREN WILL YOU HURT OZPIN" as he beats the piss outta Nora, Ren, RWBY, Oscar, and probably some random five year old on the street while shouting OZPIIIIN to the skies. It also didn't take a whole lot to convince him how stupid he was thank god. His character was so cool in design and in theory but good god he got executed soooo fucking poorly. Kinda glad he's dead just so we don't have to deal with his stupidity. Next.

Emerald. This bitch. I can't. I LOVE how easily rwby just forgave her. It was so stupidly funny. "oh but yang was ready to fight her at first and snatched her weapons" yeah for five fucking minutes. Then came the part where she helped stabilize Penny and gave a half assed speech about switching sides. Meanwhile everyone's just magically forgiving of her like OH THAT EMERALD AHAHAH like she didn't help orchestrate the fall of Beacon, the death of many, including Penny, and all the terrible shit that's gone down. No resentment from RWBY except for my favorite line delivered this volume. It was Weiss's ever so beautiful "SHUT UP" LOL (I play Smite and I love how her VVGQ Quiet voice line sounds the same. So when I heard this line, I thought of Smite and immediately laughed. Kudos to you Weiss.)

Salem. The hound attacked Penny in the mansion... Why? You already established connection with Watts in jail. Did he not tell her "ay she cool with us." And in turn did she not tell him "ay she cool with us don't hit her"? I guess not? Cause the hound and penny shoulda bounced together the second they met up lmao. Other than that, salem's done nothing this volume except try to be scary and get her ass beat by hazel. She could easily just go out in the field with her grimm and blasts some people or SOMETHING GOD so far our main villain is just so boring and unimposing that literally every other villain, including her subordinates, feel more like threats than her.

Now I'll just talk about scenes.

The scene with ambrosius was COATED IN CONVENIENCE. Apparently Ozpin didn't tell the gang about the WinMore button they could just fucking walk to until now because??? Idk. I LOVE how team rwby just assumed that penny would be okay when they took her robot parts out. Realistically she should just be a floating husk of aura and nothingness. Like she never had organs. I don't understand how she's a real person now? Which, by the way, I'm pretty fucking insulted about how they handled that. Why make Penny human? She was already a real girl and accepted by her loved ones. Like shit, she was a character that a LOT of transgirls, myself included, could relate to on a personal level and we LOVED how Ruby handled it in v2. It was cute! It was sweet! She said she was a real girl back then and it made all of our collective kokoros go doki doki. Fun stuff!

But now? It feels like none of that was validated until she got an actual human body. Like damn I wish I could just get my ideal body within seconds. Shit. I've seen and heard a lot of upset from my fellow tgirls about how doodoo that scene was, because it's implying penny wasn't a real girl until after she got her human body and that's probably how most of the rwby fandom is gonna see it too. "oh wow penny's a real girl now!" And just forget Ruby's cute speech in v2. So annoying. Minor nitpick, if she's got the aura of a black man inside of her (her father), and her robot body is gone, why the fuck isn't she black? Like? Idk minor nitpick I guess. But anyways back to ambrosius scene. I love how rwby had the answers for everything within the hours worth of planning they were given by Ironwood's motive. Totes believable. And yet the "one way ticket to vacuo" thing was the simplest shit they could have avoided lmfao. Like THAT is what you trip up on? Not the portals you're trying to make or the assumption that penny lives without her robot parts? Insane. (side note: how did oscar have a flashback to that scene if he wasn't even there?)

And now everyone's favorite scene. Yangs death. Already covered it early I just wanted to add more on. This scene is insane. Like... If they actually go through with killing her (i don't see how she could have survived turning into dust) then roosterteeth is dumber than I gave them credit for. Like... They have to realize the shitstorm they're gonna receive right? First they kill off clover, an lgbt+ coded character. Next is Yang? A main character who is WIDELY loved by all. Apart of their most pandered ship in existence: bees. (Both the ship and the character make them so much money in merch btw so this was stupid from an objective standpoint.) You can't just kill a main character that is heavily lgbt+ coded in THE most popular ship in the show. Like... How dumb can they be? They're gonna lose so many fans at the very least. Sales? Down. Death threats? Way up. It would be astonishing if they weren't up to their necks in shit in backlash by that decision. Bury Your Gays trope strikes again folks. But this time with everyone's favorite! Like I just... Idk that decision was stupid and that scene hardly was given any real pomp or circumstance it deserved. She's a major title character and that scene lasted like a minute lmao. It's gonna be RWBY without the Y. RWB. As in rt is a bunch of rubes for making that decision. A cynical part of me thinks they did that just because they want an excuse to off Neo, another really loved character. (Well if everyone hates her now we can kill her off cause god knows we don't know what to do with her), but I'm not gonna make this about her. I honestly don't know how to feel about this death tbh. On one hand it's shitty and *points to essay above*. On another it lets Blake be her own character for once. We get to see who she is on our own. And we can finally shift gears from The Bees Show featuring Some Plot to RWBY without the Y. But again that scene was done horribly with doodoo writing already explained up above. That one racism anon could have taken the time to look up my writers crit tag on my blog to see my takes on their shitty writing, but no. They decided to take one look at just a few posts, and assume that I’m a racist. Because I guess research was too difficult for them, I suppose. Why bother looking into the blog of a person who might have takes that would make you go “Oh! This guy has a good point about the writing here,” when you could instead just scream “racist!” at the person. They honestly remind me of brunch liberals. Anon doesn’t want a discussion on the topic, they just want to scream and shout that one person that they deem is the problem, when again, the writers live in Texas. They got a whitewashed education, which is why they do all sorts of shit like this. This is why I lean into them being idiots instead of being intentionally racist.

They think that having a single protagonist that doesn’t have white skin means that they can have all sorts of antagonists without white skin as well. They think that they have the right to tell minorities how to protest, and that they should trust the cops, when historically, we’ve seen how our real-life cops treat minorities. It shouldn’t have taken all the recent cop shootings in the news for them to realize that cops are part of the problem, when we’ve had ones going back decades.

They literally slapped on animal parts onto humans and called it a ”new race.”

We did it as kids too, but when they did it, they decided to throw in a racism subplot. And I get it. They want a message of “racism bad” and they also wanted a problem that wasn’t the grimm. But they didn’t have to lift the struggles of African Americans and paste over the faunus. They could’ve had a different racism, like they’re sexualized and objectified because of the weird fetishes that people have. The racism subplot could have been the quest to be taken seriously, instead of the fight against slavery.

Zootopia took this as a similar example when Judy talks about how bunnies can call each other “cute” but when other animals do it, it becomes strained. That could’ve been the way it was done. Maybe not 1:1, but in a similar way.

Instead, the show (and by extension the writers) treated it like a joke, just like how they did that with Qrow’s alcoholism. Blake likes tuna, Sun eats bananas, Blake also fears dogs, in Chibi, she’s freaked out by the vacuum cleaner, Blake follows laser pointers, etc. The show doesn’t treat serious subject matters as serious until it’s important, at which point it becomes jarring.

Qrow’s alcoholism?- Oh, haha! Qrow’s at a bar. Classic Qrow. Then comes Volume 6, where all of a sudden, Ruby is visibly uncomfortable about it, and she objects to him indulging in it.

Yang’s PTSD?- Oh, poor Yang. So freaked out and stuff.- Then bam! She’s insulted, has her trauma compared to a fear of mice, and is told that the manifestation of her soul is a temper tantrum. Then said trauma doesn’t come up again in a significant way until her confrontation with Adam.

Racism in general was treated as a minor thing, akin to bullying. Hell! Weiss was fucking justified in her assessment of Sun because the guy stowed away on a ship, and stole from a fruit stand because he found it fun. In the same scene where we’re supposed to think that “not all faunus are bad” we’re shown a faunus doing illegal things just for the fun of it.

The faunus racism plot is a mess, and once they showed real-life POC as villainous characters, it becomes even worse. Not only is the stand-in minority told to “suck it up, and just ask nicely” but the actual POC characters are portrayed as the attack dogs of a fascistic dictator who only cares about loyalty and his own country kingdom. The rest of the world could be burning, but as long as Atlas is standing, then who gives a fuck?

Ironwood just wanted to make Atlas great, after all. So who are the ace ops to stop him?- They’ll benefit from Atlas Supremacy, as they are part of Atlas’ elite force. They’ll get perks. From a character standpoint, these guys are basically just wanting to protect their cushy jobs. From a writing standpoint, they’re evil POC, who are following the orders of a white dictator.

The writers are idiots, and the ace ops are a white dictator’s attack dogs. Metaphorical, of course.

aight... here’s a pretty long yet tip-of-the-iceberg collection on my overall thoughts on bl3 now that i’ve finished the damn thing, every main mission & every sidequest (dynasty dash don’t interact). 

obviously mega spoilers

the good

aside from that one infuriating difficulty spike when i arrived on promethea, i had a lot of fun playing. i found the gameplay a lot smoother than the others in the series (as it should be), i liked being able to climb stuff, i liked having an easy mode tbh!!

i really liked playing amara and i like the flexibility of action skills and being able to swap on the go without having to respec. the brawl tree ended up being very well suited to my type of play, it hindered me only during boss fights and even then at least i could switch to phasecast y’know

i had a lot of big fears about what this game would do and it managed to not do anything that makes me want to, like, burn and salt the earth, so that’s a win

i thought it was pretty funny! or at least on par with the other main games, which always kind of ride the line between funny and obnoxious and sometimes misstep

i enjoyed a lot of the cast, both new characters and characters who were returning but who i had no particular feelings about before, hammerlock, zer0 and ellie as particular examples

hammerlock and wainwright were cute af and it’s nice to see a gay couple in a triple-a game 

thought the twins were fun and funny af i liked them. because fandom is Like That i was a little exhausted by troy before he even showed up but even then, like, idk i liked them as a duo and i liked the break from jack honestly 

a lot of the new gun quirks were fun. i’m not like a big... gun person... but i found some cool ones i enjoyed playing with. 

loved getting to see different planets, it was a nice break from pandora all the time. and skywell was super fun! love the low-grav playfulness from TPS without the infuriating oz kit nonsense

the little quality of life improvements from previous games were great, like fast travel from anywhere, auto-refilling ammo, etc

some of the side quests were really fun. i liked the ratch quest for rhys, the birthday party quest for mordecai, the claptrap dancing quest was sweet, the buff movie buff quest was fun, the quest where i killed grandpappy 2 seconds in and got a reward was funny as hell esp because i drove off a cliff by accident, etc

lots of people had really bad glitches and stuff but... honestly can’t relate the game ran very well for me. advantages to not marathoning it before they’ve released their first couple patches, i guess, lol 

the less good

i played a solo amara and there are some bosses that seem like they would’ve been pure hell to do alone... i was lucky and able to phone a friend for a lifeline in those scenarios (shoutout to @heavybreathingcatt and @valoscope) but if i couldn’t do that idk i would’ve just broken my controller in rage i guess lmao 

why is resurrecting each other so hard? i don’t think i’ve ever done it successfully, because it takes too long and more importantly bc while i’m doing it some enemy will just toss a grenade or punch me and i get knocked away from the ally, rendering it useless

rest in peace maya, the best res AI in the whole damn game, got me through the rampager fight her damn self

there were a lot of characters and themes and ideas that i liked in theory more than in practice... because in practice they felt like a first draft. very often i felt like i liked a thing, and then on reflection thought about nine hundred ways it could’ve been better, deeper, more emotionally resonant, more developed, whatever. 

the angel stuff was kinda nice but... also... my longest deepest sigh ever @ Poor Sad Jack Some People Terrorize Entire Planets And Abuse Their Daughters To Cope With Their Fridged Wife

like the siren lore... wish i coulda heard it without having to backtrack across every map post-game

while i found the game generally pretty funny,  almost all the emotional scenes fell completely flat for me and there were a number of scenes that SHOULD have been emotional that just were not 

for eg i am actually not upset about maya or lilith dying (or turning into the moon as it were) -- i am ok with those beats for those characters, especially lilith getting a heroic sendoff. however... both of those scenes could’ve been more impactful than they were. maya’s i think was better than lilith’s, but both of them felt flatter, either in the moment or in the aftermath, than those characters deserved. 

related: NPCs reacting to major events is fun. i liked to do the tour and check in with all my buds to get their couple custom lines after a big plot thing happened. HOWEVER... those lines are obviously timed which is *mostly* fine but in some cases really, really weird? the lines about maya should stay in rotation for a lot longer. ava shouldn’t go back to LOL LET’S STEAL two seconds after maya’s gone. i missed zer0′s maya lines entirely bc i didn’t track down zer0 on time lol. stuff like that 

the bad

the last act felt severely underbaked. i have to wonder how many rewrites this game went through, and how much the back end was slapped together last minute, or cobbled together from various drafts. a lot of this felt very first or second draft, where the characters and themes are *there* but not refined at all, or they contradict each other. the family theme that goes basically nowhere and says nothing. the way the story handles atlas vs the way the story handles jakobs vs the way the story handles corporations writ large. 

for the twins -- lack of proper emotional resonance or development for them is one of the biggest failures imo, because i think they WERE very enjoyable villains and the core concept of like... evil video game streamers is honestly on-brand and funny af for the franchise... but as soon as troy died everything went downhill? tyreen’s non-reaction to her brother dying isn’t even a reaction, it’s not even “tyreen doesn’t care she’s evil lol” which would’ve been a boring direction to take anyway) it’s just.... “we barely wrote a response don’t worry about it”. her endgame is to be a big monster because... she’s ... fame hungry? huh? her motivation fell apart.w whether they went with “troy and tyreen are shitty people who get caught up in a power struggle but ultimately love each other” OR “troy and tyreen are shitty people who turn against each other in individual bids for power” could both have been interesting stories but they did neither. 

i’m def missing some echos on the twins which brings me to another thing i hate although it’s endemic to the series and not to bl3 specifically -- hiding important lore and characterization in random echos in random places on the map without even an indication of how many there are total, how many you’ve collected, where to find them... frustrating as hell. a lot of those echos are some of my favourite material in the game! at LEAST tell me “1 of 5 echos on this map” if you don’t wanna tell me where they are! why is major lore like the twins’ backstories hidden?????? 

and bc i haven’t heard them i don’t know if it’s fandom doing what fandom always does, or if it really is the game implying tyreen is The Evil Mastermind and troy is poor manipulated brother, but either way fuck that entire noise lmao of course the women of colour in the series are just Born Evil but jack and troy and whoever else are just Sad :( fuck off actually 

typhon... sucks... what an irritating character. irritating to retcon him in as The First Vault Hunter, irritating to have him talk about shit and sex all the time, irritating to have every established NPC be like oh wow my HERO typhon deleon what a HERO i LOVE him, irritating that we skate over his parenting failures, irritating that he has a fridged beloved wife, ESPECIALLY irritating he gets a memorial sidequest and maya didn’t . just. bad.

the playable had no role in the story. they’re just a fly on the wall in every cut scene. this is whack in general, and a crit i can apply to all of the main borderlands games, however it is extremely jarring to play amara in a siren-heavy game and have no one acknowledge it. 

OVERALL... I guess like a B-? Maybe a B. I had fun playing it and I’m still having fun running around in Mayhem Mode and I am def looking forward to the DLCs. Gameplay is great. But while I had hoped this installment would take the storytelling of the main games a step further, it actually felt like a step back in virtually every respect.

Big Grill in Little Chaldea - Review

Overview: KP is the best unit of 2019 and she was released back in March. Also it’s only May. 

Kingprotea is the Alterego G of the Sakura Five, a High-Servant composed of multiple Earth Mother Goddesses, particularly everyone’s favorite Beast II, Tiamat, as indicated by her final ascension. 

KP’s kit is unique, encouraging a lot of creative and non-conventional team building due to the versatility of the Alterego class and KP’s own kit. In a lot of ways, she’s self-sufficient out of the box, boasting a power level that is essentially unchallenged by other units in the game, without even taking into account her active skills or Noble Phantasm. I consider her the best Alterego in the game, at least for most situations. 

Generally speaking, her kit is pretty simple almost deceptively so when you take into account her unique self-buffs, widely-varying in length cooldowns, and situational buff procs. Essentially, she’s a bruiser-type unit who can take and deal significant amounts of damage. 

Under the Hood: Kingprotea is a Buster unit, boasting two single-hit Buster cards, two triple-hit Arts cards and a lone triple-hit Quick card. Her extra attack hits six times. She has a Buster Noble Phantasm that is area of effect and shares some level of similarity to Ishtar’s Noble Phantasm in that it has a low scaling, but regardless can deal serious damage. 

Generally speaking, KP fits in well with almost any Buster team, although, I would personally discourage the choice to use her with Osakabe. 

Kingprotea’s stats are monstrous. She boasts the second-highest attack stat in the game, a whopping 13835 at level 90 with silver Fous. She’s no slouch in terms of HP either, with a 14338 pool at level 90, but that starting point is largely negligible for our headpat goddess. 

Generally speaking, all of KP’s cards are awesome, save for her lone Quick card, which honestly isn’t even that bad. 

Passive Skills: KP is honestly overloaded in this department. In my opinion, she has the best set of passives currently in game. Every single one, roughly equates to a relatively generic Craft Essence of decent potency.

Mad Enhancement A+ is starting off extremely strong. An 11% Buster up for free on a Buster unit makes most Merlin targets jealous. This is most often found in Berserkers, who balance their offensive power with a certain level of frailty, KP doesn’t share that general weakness.

Independent Action B is probably KP’s weakest passive. An 8% free boost to critical damage really isn’t a bad boon at all, as we’ve been in a crit meta since Merlin was released, but KP really isn’t a crit unit. With that in mind, she totally can take good advantage of this, depending on your team. 

Territory Creation EX is extremely strong. Honestly, most units would kill to have KP’s passives up to this point. A 12% boon to Arts performance at all times, turns KP’s Arts cards from “good” to “very good.”

Divine Essence A is KP’s defensive skill. 25% debuff resistance makes her just a little more robust and reliable and 250 free damage on every attack is nice, even if it largely won’t make too much of a difference at high-level content. I guess at least it adds up over time?

Active Skills: At first glance, KP’s actives are odd, but upon closer inspection, they are both potent and grant good synergy with the rest of her kit. 

Huge Scale C is one of KP’s id_es skills. This grants her a unique “Infinite Growth” buff that grants her stacking max HP buffs with a permanent duration every turn. These buffs start at 2000 HP and at max level reach 3000. KP can stack up to 10 of these for a max boon of 30000 HP. This acts as faux-healing of sorts and it also fuels some of her other abilities. It has a 10 turn CD. 

Infantile Regression C is KP’s internal engine of sorts. It eats her “Infinite Growth” buff and any stacks that she has acquired in order to give her a turn of skill haste and grant her NP charge based upon the number of stacks she consumed. The NP charge ranges from 10 to 20% per stack, resulting in a maximum NP charge effect of 200%. It winds up with a 5 turn CD. 

Monstrous Strength EX is an excellent self attack buff. 40% for 3 turns on a 5 turn CD is nothing to scoff at, especially with a skill haste effect. With certain compositions, it becomes possible for two of these buffs to be active at once, granting our headpat goddess a nightmarish 80% attack up atop the unit with the second highest attack stat in the game. This is without taking into account other party members, as this can be easily achieved with KP and the Atlas Academy Mystic Code. (Oh pardon me, I’m getting ahead of myself.)

Noble Phantasm: 

Airavata King Size: The Colossal Figure Coming Out From The Ocean of Life

E Rank, Anti-Unit Noble Phantasm

KP headpats the enemy party. If they’re not dead, she consumes her stacks and pats them again. If she needs a little more oomph, she waits a turn after the consumption. 

This attack is a 5 hit Buster NP. It increases own Buster performance between 20 and 60% depending upon overcharge and if KP has so much as a single stack of growth when activated, it grants her an additional 20% Buster buff. Both of these buffs last the turn and KP is capable of Buster Brave Chaining. 

This Noble Phantasm is very very good and provides perfect explanation for KP’s surface level weirdness. 

Bond 10 CE: 

These Are, Both Arms of Full of... is a perfect CE for KP. Depending on your choice of usage of her, it may not always be optimal but, no matter how you use her, it is quite potent. This CE increases her Buster performance by 20% and additionally increases her attack by 20% if she has at least one stack of growth. With this CE equipped and without any additional party members, KP can Buster Brave Chain with an 100% attack buff and a 71% Buster performance buff while boasting base attack second only to Alterjeanne. 

Tips and Tricks: 

KP is incredibly hard to claim a definitive means of use for. She can solo, she can be a primary damage-dealer, she can be a crit unit, she can be an NP spammer... honestly, she can fill a lot of roles. Consequently, claiming a best CE for her can be tough, as it depends on what you want her to do. In general, her bond CE probably has the best effect for economy, challenged only by The Black Grail (especially if you want her to NP spam.)

I like to use her to fight Riders, who can sometimes discourage conventional support-type units. A typical comp includes Florence (shout out to @acclerated-railgun) and some sort of tank, typically her sister-Alterego Passionlip. A very good argument could be made for Leonidas, especially if you happen to have his Bond CE. Essentially, Florence and the Tank keep everything running smoothly while KP winds up to give headpats of destruction, powered by Angel’s Outcry and sometimes with a nice bounty of crit stars. Mashu is also an excellent choice. 

With Merlin and Tamamo you can create a potent NP spammer that is entirely overloaded with buffs. Tamamo’s party skill haste and KP’s own haste skill enables the 80% attack up (or 100% with Merlin) that I mentioned earlier and you can combine that with The Black Grail’s NP damage boon, with the demerit all but entirely mitigated by infinite growth. The result is a KP who can consistently hit like the Beast she is partially derived from and with party upkeep and defense options that resemble a dedicated stall team. 

Waver and Andersen legitimately go with anything. If the only rare unit that you happen to have is KP, Andersen + Merlin is a top tier Buster-Crit support set up that will enable her. 

If you’re really going for broke, Shakespeare isn’t a bad unit to pair her with, although the previously mentioned units are all better picks. 

She works decently well with fellow Sakuras, Passionlip and Summer BB. Where Passionlip tanks and heals and Summer BB controls and enables broken KP Buster Brave Chains. 

In terms of Mystic Codes, Fragments of 2004 is an excellent choice, particularly in tandem with her Bond CE and/or a Leonidas tank for optimal application of the stars from Thermopylae Enomotia. 

The Atlas Academy Uniform freely enables the attack shenanigans that I mentioned before, I’d recommend it when trying to solo with a CE like Duke of Flames or Demonic Bodhisattva. (Less optimal for that regard is Before Awakening and even worse at that is Steel Training.) 

The Arctic Chaldea Uniform is a great choice for general application, though it is the hardest Mystic Code to level.

KP is weak to buff removal, so running her with Tamamo and Tropical Summer can help mitigate that. 

The Chaldea Combat Uniform, New Years and Chaldea Uniform are also viable for less niche reasons. Also Anniversary Blonde, because Buster. 

Recommended CEs: 

Her Bond CE and The Black Grail are probably the most optimal. Throwing a Crit CE if you’re trying a crit build with likely be beneficial. I would personally recommend Knight’s Pride as she has more than enough HP to offset the defense demerit. 

I personally think you should try and focus on NP damage, as her NP scaling is low and you want to fire her NP as often as possible when trying to do damage, even in crit-focused teams. 

With that in mind, anything that buffs Buster or attack in general is likely at least usable on her. 

Any CEs I mentioned earlier are also good choices, especially in the context I mentioned them. 

Conclusion: If there was ever a Servant to Grail for gameplay, KP is it. She can literally make the most of any base attack increase with her own absurd self-buffing. 

She’s also an adorable giant headpat goddess with a completely distinctive sprite. 

Also her kit is so unique that using her feels completely different from every other unit in the game. Even other high damage units or AoE Alteregos don’t feel anything like Kingprotea. 

In a lot of ways, you can really just try stuff with her, a lot of it works a lot better than you’d think it would on the surface. 

She’s really good fun honestly, and I can’t recommend her enough.

So, uhhh, I was expecting a harder fight, but instead I completely curb-stomped Shiki. >_>

I went with the Atlas Mystic Code because of its cleanse. Medea has her own self-cleanse. Then I slapped Waver with a CE that blocks debuffs 3 times and increases NP gain. This way I completely nullified BB’s initial debuffs.

Then I chose a support Merlin and gave Mash and David CEs that gave them Guts.

Why David? Well David actually crits pretty well on his own and has a bit more survivability than Robin even though his NP doesn’t have the same spike damage. My experience with David is that he gains NP at a faster pace than Robin as well.

Still, it is a bit of a trade off since I could have simply used a Guts CE on Robin too. The real difference is that David’s evade is party-wide despite it only providing a one-hit evade per party member.

Anyway, Assassin Shiki only got one NP off and (un)fortunately targeted Medea. So Medea died, and I was able to force her into her Saber form when she was at 2 NP charges.

I was able to get everyone’s NP bar full by Shiki’s third charge. I used their NPs in this order: Waver, Merlin, and lastly, Cú Alter.

Cú Alter is only at NP1, but with his NP at 300% (and with all attack buffs from Waver and Merlin), he did ~300k of damage on Saber Shiki.

After that, I was fortunate that I had 2 of Cú Alter’s Buster cards, so Buster > Arts (Merlin’s with 60% crit chance) > Buster (60% crit chance), and down she went.

I guess I should have tried a weaker team, or maybe not read a guide for this fight, haaa...

Anyway, I’M FUCKING DONE WITH THIS LOSTBELT TO FINALLY BE READY FOR ONILAND! At the price of 3 Command Seals at the end of course...

Chapter 14

Once more, not much comment about the fights... At least bring Alter Egos here since this and next chapters are mostly mobs under the Four Horseman class + Berserkers. 

But, subsequent fights from this... Despite amount of arrows, you’ll be seeing more story VN than fights. So it’s a good breather before your final few bosses of this Lostbelt.

And before I forgot, in that second pic which is the third arrow of this chapter, your whole party got a quick buff for this fight only for plot reason.

Chapter 15

Caster mob in the pic here finally revealed its name as the seed of the Phantasmal tree (yes, that same exact tree from the final boss in Anastasia Lostbelt).

And this little shit enjoys eating up 10 stars at least from yours, so do watch out when it does. 

Chapter 16

4 or 5 tries... Just to not waste my Command Seals on this fucking flaming giant. Anyway, this is one of the main final boss you’re facing from plot reason to defeat him completely.

On your first 3 turns, you’ll get permanent buff of QUICK UP, Critical Damage Up, Recover 2000 HP per turn separately.

Apparently, the first attempt with him... Euryale really gets killed big time because I seriously underestimated his own passive buff of doing extra damage on Servants with divine traits.

2nd to 4th attempt... One of them I brought Leonidas and without a doubt it’s the worst to choice to bring. I swapped Euryale with Emiya Alter which actually helps a lot after his strengthening on his NP to remove 1 charge.

By the 5th attempt, Mash survived long after unleashing her NP, George even survived long enough from him... Sigurd too especially, his third skill helps to give Fujino a delay in getting burn status for 1 turn.

And satisfaction was there, so FUCK YOU SURTR! After Robin dealing more damage in his 1/4 HP... Fujino soloed and crit him to death as he deserved for that burning pain >.>

^And this was from the first attempt, FUCK YOU SURTR! Your two annoying gauge break debuff are pain in the ass >.>

Chapter 17 (END)

.................... Apparently, this first fight with Shishou=Skadi and Valkyire was forced to retry after the first one.

I... I really underestimated her and Valkyire since my priority was to kill the latter before focusing on Skadi. I gloated in my head about how easy it was to deal against an old hag like her...

And well... I guess FGO lostbelt even breaks the fourth wall too. She probably had ordered Valkyire to crit Merlin’s ass with 2 crit buff to realize how much I dug my grave in there.

Second attempt went with Waver instead. Despite the unexpected charge on Valkyire’s NP, Sigurd managed to crit her to death. George and Leonidas becomes the unexpected MVP of this fight from killing Shishou.

Final fight that I forgotten to take... The fight with that fucking tree again. It’s a Caster class so bring your best rider to attack it. I went with Sherlock which with Quetz on Origin Bullet CE and his NP, I managed to clear both front 2 HP gauge until the last one.

They died and Cu plus Ishtar Rider had to chip off its HP slowly because two defense buff are hell in piercing that thing. When Cu died at 38k HP... Yup, that’s where my Command Seal went.

Because, I’m too lazy and enough shit of the first two bosses, I had Quetz to do a brave chain to chop this thing away for Oniland to develop >.>

Cosmos Denial, checked!

Holy grail, checked!

Story-locked CE, checked!

Gotterdammerung aka GOD-FUCKING-DAMN-MERUNG is fucking done!

Things I observed/tips:

On main bosses, like Surtr and Sigurd, don’t bring Servants with mental debuffs because it ain’t working for this entire lostbelt.

This lostbelt is fucking crit lostbelt so if you have Servants who are good defense and survivability, DO BRING. You’ll find this lostbelt may need to have a turtle fight to kill them.

Avoid bringing Servants with Divine traits as I’ve constantly mentioned, or you’ll get either them being unintentional tankers or, their ass being completely burned by Surtr giant boss fight

Origin Bullet CE or ignore Evasion is still your best friend against Caster since Skadi’s own NP and Valkyire’s skill does that.

More stories than fights here but definitely don’t let your guard down especially when the RNG luck goes to favor them

ST NP Servants more recommend against boss fight here, except the fight with three Valkyire. Bring one AOE Saber and wipe them clean while making sure they survive too.

If you want budget Archers against Surtr, Robin Hood (his poison debuff still works on him), David (his NP helps to prevent Surtr from using skill for a turn), Arash (AOE Nuker but still a best one to do it), Billy and Chloe (assuming you actually have her and didn’t start new recently or so)

But main thing about Surtr, you’ll definitely want a team to survive when his HP gauge breaks with buff negate on first break (permanent on 3 turns so basically all Servants skill buff are usually including NP), and skill seal for 3 turns on 2nd break.

Healers are also welcome if you’d like. Especially with limited 2k HP recover per turn, it may outmatch against Surtr’s stacking burn status on your Servants and his unique skill to increase the burn damage.

And since he has his own skill of healing on damage he takes, try to outwit his healing by crit or NP damage.

CE wise? Shroud of Marldage (or Caren Horenista’s CE) that gives defense buff against Male enemies will be very helpful in surviving the fight with Surtr after getting idea from this video for your main DPS Archer

Kiyohime’s CE in boosting attack against male also works well here too.

Regarding fight against Sigurd, Euryale is still more than welcome to be main DPS along with Orion. Only the former’s charm will not work on him.

Only problem about him? His crit can be very often and unexpected so do bring tankers/taunter to deal with him. Also, there’s Ophelia’s buff on him as his Master, but it’s not as bad as with Kadoc, still watch out regardless.

Skadi’s final fight... Other than Origin Bullet if you’re able to get it from gacha... Don’t call her an old hag Beware her own NP gives Valkyire additional crit buff, so again, kill Valkyire first before dealing with her.

Buff and debuff remover especially the latter when she stuns your whole team on second HP break. So, here is where Atlas uniform is really recommended to use or combat uniform to swap them out.

Final boss fight with Giant Phantasmal Tree, feel free to bring Jeanne or Merlin to cast AOE invincbility since unlike in Anastasia Lostbelt, this doesn’t pierce invincibility

But, you’ll require Servants that has Ignore Defense NP because two defense buff at least will be having hell in killing it upon breaking its first HP bar

Origin Bullet is no doubt recommended for main DPS Rider, but other attack boost CE will also help

Beware of its NP, it’ll also remove your defense buff on all your front-line Servants.

Debuff remover are welcome as usual to remove np gain debuff, but you won’t be able to remove two permanent debuff of np gain and hp recovery down before breaking its first HP bar.

Overall, can be manageable once you understood how their skills and gimmicks work unlike Anastasia. But, it also means you shouldn’t take it lightly.

fe15 thoughts (spoilers ahead!)

i just beat part 5 (not part 6 yet), but a few a lot of impressions/opinions after my first runthrough:

full disclosure: i knew nothing abt gaiden beforehand so none of this is affected by previous knowledge. i have a preference for fe6-12 but don’t dislike the 3ds games

my overall mvp was archer!tobin, though alm edged him at towards the end

on celica’s path, it was overall valbar and celica. towards the end, brave sword!jesse became a God and ended up going toe-to-toe with duma alongside alm

i beat duma’s chapter on the first go! which i’m proud of. alm basically soloed him w/ dual psychic support from genny and faye, but jesse got like one or two crits in there before being rescued out

admittedly my strat at the end was “when in doubt, throw jesse at it” and he rekt jedah

the wiki said jesse tied with grieth as the least popular gaiden chara in the heroes poll and i can kind of see why but I LOVE HIM NOW 

i’d heard a lot of criticism of map design which i went into the game thinking that meant just the maps would be boring. i wasn’t as bothered by the sludge maps as some other ppl were, but there were a lot of maps that just screamed “please cheese me with archers” which might have contributed to tobin being rly useful

i didn’t mind faye. i can see why her chara ruffled feathers, but she was relatively unobtrusive, if slightly creepy. i appreciated that she got the opportunity to confront her feelings and get turned down. less appreciative of her ending but w/e

i’m sooooo happy they did justice with fernand, even before his whole redemption thing. very refreshing from that one fe13 bishop dude who showed up to betray you for 0 reason and then immediately died

i wanted more from lukas, not bc i was disappointed w/ his character, but because i really loved it. his support with clive, where he expresses this desire to be more expressive bc he actually isn’t capable of experiencing intense emotions. that’s a rly engaging characteristic (i personally identify with) i wanted him to explore more, but instead clive is just like “nope you’re perfect” and lukas is basically like “well all right i guess”

leon looked a whole lot less emo than i thought he would, and he was so full of love

this is rly arbitrary, but the calendar system.....put like, a lot of pressure on minimizing my movement? like i didn’t want to run around completing quests bc i felt like the number of days was judging me lol

is2g, the only reason they put flour in the game was bc it looks like a bag of silvery coins + in the duma tower, you smash barrels and a bag pops out and you run over thinking ur getting mad cash and it’s fucking flour

the eating/food preferences mechanic is cute, but you end up with things like delthea, who wants to marry a noble and enjoys eating raw meat

silque and atlas enjoy eating fucking flour....flour.....i kept wanting to jump in the dungeon parts

i made faye a cleric and i still went the whole game w/o her learning the anew spell lol

rinnea is too good for berkut. sorry berkut fans he doesn’t deserve her

i could not bring myself to love tatiana. she was lovely and sweet but she hurt my entire soul and i ended up not bringing her to the endgame, and then regretted it as she was my only fortify user

there’s a whole lot of damsel in distressing/women off the front lines in this game but i’m attributing that to the original gaiden

probably the most unpopular opinion here: i didn’t like celica. i get she was going thru something terrible, but... her “i’m all alone” schtick was grating and i wanted her to be more resolute? instead of just ending up another damsel in distress for alm to save

speaking of celica idk if it was in gaiden, but i wish fe would stop doing the “start the game off with one mc killing the other” and then like......”jk they’re still alive”

i knew going in almxcelica was canon, and also it was pretty obvious immediately, but i didn’t like it. i thought it detracted from the game’s themes a lot, because both of them would immediately throw away all other concerns at even 1 (however dubious) hint the other was in danger. like.....they kept hearing mysterious voices and running away from all their friends straight into enemies gdi there was so much more at stake

i didn’t mind alm as a chara but i was disappointed with his arc. i actually have a lot to say about it lol maybe i’ll make another post but idk if anyone cares

basically i felt they tried to combine two archetypes (noble chosen one vs common everyman dogooder) and it just ended up clashing/really dissonant. i don’t have a problem with either/or (a good example of chosen one is micaiah, and then the everyman is ike, whom i both love) but PICK ONE

idk if it was the dungeoneering or the format of the chapters (some of the battles kind of felt...pointless? like they were just in the way but didn’t really progress the plot/shed light on charas or issues or anything) but this game was - not boring, for per se, but a lot more difficult for me to finish than first run thrus generally are? like, i didn’t ever want to stop playing but there were moments where i looked at the next battle on the map and was like, ugh don’t want to do this rn

this seems really negative lol but i did enjoy the game and i’d love more remakes! i may draw something if i can figure out how to fix the pressure sensitivity on my tablet...

Camelot Section 10 & 11

Before the maintenance for FGO anniversary begin... Time to finish these two chapters first!

Chapter 10

I wonder how long was the previous chapter fight took while Hundred Persona dealt above the fort. Though turns out there's some who still like a beating or two along a persistent Spriggan aka Golems.

Looks like I should have brought 2 Sabers instead since Ou-sama keeps getting stabbed in the chest by the Lancer mobs >.> Swapped it with David by the Spriggan killed him at the final wave, though Ou-sama helped in turn to one shot with Enuma Elish

With the horses ready, time to regroup back at the village. Bedivere had also recovered from his rest too! Man, now I'd like Touta's NP to supply myself and everyone free food! Also, a feast started in the village and Hassan shared a little of his past... It got interrupted when mobs of mindless one and bladed swarm, and one soul eater trying to join in the party.

As Hassan rested in for the night, there's a small discussion on the journey so far and Touta's NP before the scene ends. Though, it seems like Tristan arrived at the scene of his dead allies. But... Damn Tristan, that's ruthless as heck! Killing your own comrades like this... Though with this, looks like Tristan will be coming in soon *gulp*

Anyway the next day after the feast, looks like things are cut to the chase. The Old Man of the Mountain finally accepts and believes the crew and Beddy they ain't working with the Lion King.... But looks like another 'fair and square' fight from Hundred Persona along with Serenity is starting

As Hassan rested in for the night, there's a small discussion on the journey so far and Touta's NP before the scene ends. Though, it seems like Tristan arrived at the scene of his dead allies. But... Safely accomplished with no insta-death from Serenity... After that insta-death in JP, my target is on her. Though the next other round is going to be more tricky... *gulp*

Welp despite that fight... Looks like it's going to take a while for Hundred Persona's Tsundere side to open up to the crew. But to conqure a city going need more than the village to do so... Seems like the old King Hassan will be the next step to their plans.

Chapter 11

While Hundred Persona separate from the crew to prepare for the attack, guess it's been quite a while with 2 days since they last saw her. And, no flying, Arash. Though as they discussed further details of the First Hassan, Bedivere's credibility on how he get his information is breaking apart. And there's also things of Bedivere he's still keeping to himself...

And another affection/jealousy scene with Xuanzang and Serenity fighting over Guda's arm and the way destiny leads... We're going to fight on steep cliff with bunch of mindless ones, wyvren and for some fucking reason, a Chimera!!

Once put down especially the wyren that kept attacking Waver, looks like they were even running away from the Lion King... Though Xuangzang chose not to fight out of her fear of heights, Serenity... Protected Guda's back. Affection points raised with her, I presume. Welp before rest, looks another horde from the same group joined in... Mindless ones and an Efreet.

Yeah, I forgot to swap Shiki out for a Caster... So this is where things get tricky for me OTL

And as expected Shiki died way after killing the extra mobs OTL Better remember to swap before going in OTL

After the final wave put to rest, Xuangzang and Mash both awake discussed about Chaldea's system. And also a discussion of every heroic spirit thought when they were being summoned after their life is over... But man, seeing Xuanzang talking about Wukong will make me hoping DW to give a chance to have him appear soon. I'd like to see them bicker/getting along XD

Next day at last, the shrine is on sight! But seems like we pissed the First Hassan that one massive ghost and smaller ones were on guard and attack us... OTL

God damn First Hassan! Killing the Gudas life signal on Romani's side before shit begins... Though he sort of accepts our request, yeah, he's definitely pissed off. Which hence now I understand... Why Serenity is fighting us next in the second Arrow.

God damn that buff from First Hassan! Not only the Demons are pain in the ass with the debuff of crits and NP seal but... That's damn tanky for her HP... With 3 turns later to remove First Hassan buff, THANK FUCKING GOD THE INSTA-DEATH MISSED ON JEANNE OTL This is practically heart attack in both JP and NA OTL

Even though Waver unfortunately at the Demon once Serenity is dealt with,  at least my Rider now can come out and deal with them.

Now that no head had to be severed, the First Hassan makes his appearance. But seems like there's more than what it seems from what Romani noticed, though he's cut off from the threat by first Hassan. Next step from King Hassan's words after revealing the Guda are clueless with little to no intention in beheading the Lion King, Atlas insitute is next! But Hassan Cursed Arm's fate... This is worrying...
