Will You Be My Valentine? - Cozmez + GokuLuck

Kanata Yatonokami:

Kanata thinks the holiday is useless and a hassle, since you should be showing your love for your partner daily, but he goes based off your opinion. If you asked him to be your valentine he would wince, knowing he had just been thinking about what a stupid concept it was before you had approached him. His face makes you backpedal and then he has to reach out, asking you to be his valentine, which left you wondering if you had just accidentally stepped on his toes by asking first and that was why he made the face he did.

Nayuta Yatonokami:

Nayuta thinks it’s just like any other day but he does like the excuse to get out of the house or take part in discounts that occur around this time. He would very casually ask if you wanted to be his valentine, grinning when you accept like he knew you would. It’s a great excuse to wear a semi-matching outfit (he wasn’t into full-on matching, but having a coinciding color scheme or a bright accessory that connected you was fine) while going out together, pulling you out shopping with him so you could pick something you both liked.

Kenta Mikoshiba:

Kenta almost said ‘no’ out of reflex but there’s a tiny part of his brain letting out a shrill scream, like a warning that this is an important choice and to consider the choice carefully. Luckily, it wasn’t done in person so it gave him the chance to think, staring at your message for what felt like hours before his fingers would finally move. It’s a simple ‘sure’ but it meant the world to you since it wasn’t followed by an insult, texting back multiple times in a row to let him know you’d be dropping by for a visit as soon as you could.

Ryoga Tosa:

Ryoga is sweating it out, as if he was the one who had asked the question. He wasn’t always aware of holidays like this but when he did realize, his thoughts had immediately went to you. He had considered trying to write out what he wanted to say just so he wouldn’t screw it up, but his hand writing was hard to decipher and left him throwing paper at the wall in irritation as it was yet another thing he couldn’t get right. He can’t help but hug you after you ask, still tongue-tied but hoping you understood just how much you meant to him (and how much he appreciated that you gave him chance after chance to prove himself to you).

Shion Kaida:

Shion has never been asked that, at least, not in the way that you had. Valentine’s Day was a good day to sneak out, find some lonely singles, and enjoy multiple ‘dates’ in a night depending on how thirsty he was feeling. But you had asked with a sweet sincerity, averting your eyes when he looked at you a little too long. He had mostly been trying to see if you were messing with him but it was becoming clear you had meant it, and while he wasn’t quite good at the actual dating part of relationships, he looked forward to having a real valentine.

Yuto Inukai:

Yuto’s absolutely stunned. He was used to sweet old ladies he helped pinching at his cheeks and asking when he’d finally find himself a spouse, but this jumpstarted his heart in an entirely different way. He’s a sputtering mess, saying he was probably working, taking that back because he wouldn’t have to work all day or night, and then fumbling somewhere in between while leaving your question unanswered. When you asked again you took a step closer, taking hold of Yuto’s hand to get him to focus on you; the move is smooth and surprisingly works, with Yuto meeting your gaze and nodding that he’d be happy to be your valentine.

Second, I know I already requested Yuya and Jaden interactions (and oh boy did you deliver), but now you have me intrigued. Like it doesn't even have to be the groupchat AU, I'm just genuinely curious now how you think Jaden would interact with all four of the Yu Boys. I am giving you an excuse to write Jaden and Yuri interacting also because to be completely honest I love Yuya to bits and pieces but Yuri has always been my favorite of the four. <3 "Yuri is the violence" Dear cod I want to see the two of them tear into someone. Jaden meets them and it's like witnessing all the parts of himself he keeps tucked to his chest exposed for everyone to see. He sees Yuto and wants to wrap him in a hug and tell him nothing was his fault. (He's a hypocrite, he knows he (Jaden) deserved everything he got. He didn't, he really didn't) He sees Yuya and sees the mask he's put up for so long, sees his attitude of "maybe if I ignore this then it'll all go away" and wonders if his own mask ever looked this close to cracking. He sees Yugo and wants to scream and tear his hair out because when did he lose that part of himself? When did the mask truly become a mask, when did he lose that spark that made life seem actually worth living? (He knows damn well when he lost it.) He sees Yuri and sees a world where he gave in completely to the madness, where he found comfort in the pain because it was the one time he truly felt like he was in control. He wonders what it cost him, if it cost anything at all. He wonders what friends he sacrificed to get where he is now, and if it was worth it. He looks into his eyes and thinks maybe it was. He wonders if maybe their worlds aren't as dissimilar as he first thought. (That thought alone might scare him more than anything.)

Yuto was having internal panic. On the outside, he may look a little nervous, but on the inside, he was one second away from running away and hiding. He couldn't stop his fingers from fidgeting or his leg from bouncing. He wanted to leave so badly, but he told himself that he promised you he would be here, and so he stayed.

See, what happened was a week ago, Yuto had been convinced into asking you out. More like forced to ask you out by the rest of GokuLuck. Apparently, they were beyond annoyed seeing his "terrible" attempts to flirt with you. He thought he was being smooth, but according to the others, he was failing miserably. 

After being threatened with blackmail, Yuto managed to scrape together enough courage to ask you on a date. He was surprised when you said yes and even more surprised when you suggested an ice cream date. It's not that he didn't like ice cream. It's just you had the idea at the ready it seemed. It was almost like you were waiting for the day he'd ask you out. Which seemed absolutely impossible to him.

He had been sitting in the ice cream parlor for about twenty minutes and his anxiety was through the roof. He wanted to find you, ask why you were so late, or better yet, just go back to the prison and pretend like none of this had ever happened. That was a better idea. He would knuckle under any taunting he'd receive from GokuLuck. All he knew was he couldn't stay here a second longer, lest he burst from pure anxiety.

However, just as he was about to get up to leave, the bell on the front door rang and you walked in. Though you were positively frazzled, the bright smile on your face made his heart stutter to a stop.

"Yuto! Boy, am I glad to see you! You will not believe the kind of traffic there is out there! And I overslept on top of it! I thought you would have left by now! I am so glad you're still here!" You sighed.

"Oh um," He was about to tell you he was just leaving but realized almost a second too late that that would have been the wrong thing to say. So instead, Yuto said, "I got a table."

"Excellent! Have you ordered yet?" He shook his head and you giggled. "Well c'mon then! It's my treat."

"Oh, no. I should pay." He went to grab his wallet but your hand on his arm made him stop.

Your lips were pulled into the cutest pout as you said, "I'm serious, Yuto. I will fight you on this. I am paying and that's that. Besides, it's the least I can do since you got us a table and you waited for me!"

"O-okay." He stuttered and allowed you to pull him to the counter. He barely paid attention to the choices before him, instead watching you carefully make your selection. When the worker asked him what he wanted, he was so flustered, he picked a random flavor before him.

Soon, he found himself back at the table he was before with you across from him. While it was his first time ever trying it, Yuto found he liked rocky road ice cream quite a bit. Or maybe it was just because you were talking animatedly about anything and everything that some of the overwhelming amount of love he was feeling for you transferred to the ice cream.

He appreciated that the conversation wasn't one-sided. While he tended to be a man of few words, he found it easy to open up to you and answer all of your questions. They were silly, the kind you ask a person on a first date, but it felt like he was being completely vulnerable to you at that moment. He wondered if you knew you had his whole, broken heart in your hand and in this very moment, it felt like the safest place in the world for it.

As you finished your ice cream, you smiled at him. "That was really good, wasn't it?"

He gave a bashful nod. "Yes, it was."

"See, I told you I knew where the best ice cream in town was. And when we come back next time, maybe we can share a banana split or something!"

If he had any ice cream left, Yuto was sure he would've choked on it at your words. "N-next time?"

You nodded. "Absolutely! You didn't think this was going to be a one time thing, did you?"

"Well..."

"Yuto." You stopped him and took his hand. "I want you to know that I was absolutely over the moon when you asked me out. See, I have really strong feelings of admiration towards you and I want to see where this relationship will take us. I'm not sure if it's love yet, but I do know that I want to keep going on dates with you. So please, can we go on another date next week?"

He was frozen for only a fraction of a second before he nodded. "Yes. We can."

"Excellent. I'll let you pick what we do this time around."

"How does dinner sound?" He blurted out. "I-I can make it."

Your eyes widened and your grin stretched wide. "A home-cooked meal made by you? Absolutely! Count me in! I am so excited I can hardly wait!"

He smiled, the tension he was feeling in his shoulders easing ever so slightly. "Perfect."

As you stood up and the two of you said your goodbyes, he froze once again when you pressed your lips to his cheek. "I had a wonderful time, Yuto. I cannot wait to do this again next week!"

"Me neither." 

As he waved goodbye, he sighed. Though he was still annoyed at the rest of the guys for pushing him to ask you out, he was begrudgingly thankful that they did. If they hadn't, he never would have entered this relationship with you, one that he was so excited about. And now he had a date to plan! While he made his way back to the prison he made a list of all the things he needed to buy, making sure to add rocky road ice cream to the list.

- Hai!! Many people showed interest on my little theory about Shion being an AT victim instead of unfollowing me so that's cool. Today I'm here to talk about that okay😭 this theory came to me after watching the Revolution trailer + is also based around some of the Gklk content available, hope you enjoy it!!

๑ Inconsistent Trap Reactions

- On the Revolution trailer, we can see Shion having some bad trap reaction and Ryoga snapping him out of it. Apparently, Shion has been having them two nights in a row. Ryoga said that sounds dangerous but Shion brushed it off saying it happens sometimes, when he's not "his usual self". Ryoga says Shion IS his usual self right now but Shion doesn't respond. This feels REALLY out of character, as he's pretty laid back and doesn't seem to really care of anything, but he avoids the topic of his Trap Reactions and has them way more than he should. If you've been paying attention, you'll notice all the AT victims have some inconsistent effects when using their Phantommetals, like Ryuu not getting Trap Reactions and Rokuta getting amnesia. This was the first red flag for me. I didn't notice before, but in Op show Yuto also mentions Shion wasn't feeling well on the way back from the performance, so I guess that's for the usage of Phantommetals as well. I don't see any other reason to explain why he could have weird effects using his Phantommetal besides Alter Trigger?? He has a condition yes, but I don't think that really affects his Trap Reactions, so something else must be happening. Especially if he says the inconsistencies happen when he's "not his usual self" as if he can avoid them somehow unless he's not feeling well (thanks to his condition, I suppose being weaker affects the phantommetal somehow)

๑ Mysterious skin condition?

Before you read this, I wanna let you know this is 100% speculated and I have literally 0 proof, I'm aware I'm reaching but I still feel like sharing this LMAO

- Shion mentioned he was born with his rare skin condition, but even if Pararai is a made up universe with illusions and metal erosions, I feel like being naturally born with scale-like skin wouldn't be really possible. Shion calls his condition "rare" and no one seems to understand it nor know where this condition comes from. We know AT victims are attempts at making "super humans" using the influence of Phantommetals, but these super human traits always have a consequence. Itsuki has super memory, but barely feels emotions. Ryuu doesn't have trap reactions, but lost all his memories. And so on. So what if Shion was one of the first experiments of AT that didn't go as planned, so he didn't even get an ability, he just got the consequence: His condition. I believe him to be one of the first attempts considering he's definitely older than 1nm8 members and Ryuu (who I believe to be between 17 and 20). If you're wondering "ok but he said he was BORN with it" perhaps he was either created artificially (source: believe me) or kidnapped at such a young age he only remembers stuff AFTER he was experimented in (source: trust me). Shion doesn't seem to have any family, or at least he doesn't talk about it, so MAYBE this isn't that far fetched (it is extremely far fetched but I like treating gklk as my Ocs).

First of all, here's the 3,000 words analysis/blog thing I wrote last year when I first finished it.

One and a half years later, I still largely agree with it! There's some headcanons I wrote in there that I completely forgot about, lol, so I'm glad past me posted it somewhere for current me to relieve it again! (The rants were also kind of funny to re-read too)

Next, headcanons!

Lately, I found myself wondering about Yuto and Yuri's outfits; specifically-

...Why are they walking around Maiami with dramatic red/black capes?

After some time in the kitchen, I decided that when Yuya was younger, he was really into good versus evil roles when rehearsing his dueltainment lines. And who else better to serve as his practice opponents than his two brothers who aren't off busy making rounds at the stadium on a D-Wheel?

Tying his own fluffy, white towel around his shoulders, Yuya throws a nearby black blanket to Yuto. The oldest is initially a little embarrassed about the notion, but no one can ever say no to the baby of the Sakaki family, can they? (He'll just have to live the shame down from the twins later on... They barely even respect him as they are right now, anyway) In the middle of the duel, Yuri walks in onto the two of them after having finished his homework (or tweaking his deck). He raises an eyebrow at Yuto's appearance, but gets the gist of the situation when he sees their duel disks activated and Yuya standing on top of the sofa in a similar attire. As Yuto steals Yuya's schtick and becomes a tomato, Yuri pouts about being left out and quickly leaves to hunt for something that will allow him to join the fun. When the duel ends, Yuto passes the baton to Yuri. As he watches the two rattle off silly, goofy lines like, I will destroy the planet, the universe, all the worlds! and, Never! I'll stop you, fiend!, Yuto sighs in relief. At least Yuya now has Yuri to LARP with. Maybe Yugo would volunteer too, once he returned from driving practice and hears about it. Though, he'd likely ask to play the part of the hero himself. Anyway, Yuto's already almost in middle school; he's getting a little too old to play with costumes now. Then afterwards, at dinner, with an angelic smile Yuya says, "Yuuto, can we play like that again sometime? You look so cool with a cape!"

Yuri on the other hand, always had a tendency for the melodramatic, his own personal spin of the theatrics he's seen from his dad! Deep down he really loves playing the villain.

(This was meant to be a short description but I couldn't help putting some fic-like sentences in there tehe also yes that's a reference to the conversation between Yuya and G.O.D./Eve)

(warning: angst ahead)

Another headcanon I have that I want to write/draw something for is that in the postcanon where Reiji, Yuya, Isaac and Ren travel through space and time together, Yuya has moments where he falters to his grief.

He's used to his brothers commenting and nagging him on almost anything and everything (A midnight snack? Think about your complexion, Yuya!) and his world is suddenly a lot more quiet. In his hurt, he starts to avoid Ren, not wanting to be reminded of what he's lost (He doesn't feel good about it).

Eventually Reiji intervenes and Yuya opens up a little. He's been unable to properly let himself grief for his brothers. All he wants to say is that he misses them.

But he doesn't feel like he has the right to do so, having being the one to seal their fates by personally destroying the one method of bringing them back to life. He doesn't regret his decision of course, but he's unable to stop himself from feeling this way too.

It has a happy ending; Reiji convinces Yuya to talk to Ren. Yuya shares stories about Yugo at Ren's request, making the both of them laugh. Yuya realises that there are other methods of bringing back people to life, too, even if only momentarily.

But it is enough.

Misc hcs:

Yuya's charisma and attitude is a combination of his three brothers fawning over his cuteness from birth and Yuya being so star-struck with Yusho's performances he attempted to replicate the movements ever since he could walk.

Being the oldest, Yuto feels a sense of responsibility for his brothers and pledged to take care of them in place of his always-missing parents. However, he oft times finds himself not having to do much because Yugo and Yuri are so determined to win over Yuya's heart (and be proclaimed 'favourite brother') that they also make sure to set a good example for the youngest when possible. This causes Yuto a little bit of an identity crisis (/j it's just for fun) until he settles into his role as the househusband cook.

"All of us... are connected by... the arc of destiny!"

Reiji and Yuya are supposed to be silhouetted by their fathers, so Yuzu is meant to seem like she's looking at Yuya, but is in fact looking at Yusho. I also think VJ Yuto should be allowed to smile more!

This drawing is meant to be my love letter to the manga as a whole, and ESPECIALLY the last duel between Reiji and Yuya. I talked about it a whole ton in the review linked above already, so go check that out if you haven't!!

I was really happy with the composition when I first made this, especially with Sora/Ren/Isaac Versus the Yus mirroring their duels! (Well, okay, I know Isaac didn't duel Yuto but.... just give this to me)

Anyway I really wanted a fun and positive energy for it! Every month I think about returning to this but I get slightly demotivated when I realise I have *zero* colour references for both Ren and Isaac... Please send in your headcanons...

Last but not least, last month I got brain worms for another animatic/hand-drawn MV for Eve's Fight Song! I'll never ever have to time to go back to it, but I wanted to take the chance to talk about other songs that make me ill when I think about them with the manga.

Not just the chorus, but the ENTIRE SONG (pleeeease go take a look at the lyrics) feels like it's made for the manga please please go take a look

2. MYTH & ROID - -to the future days

This is a fun one, when I watched the PV and in the chorus Lum was spinning I instantly went wow what if that was Phantom.. and then the lyrics bared their claws and sunk them into my brain and hasn't really let go since

Unlike the above two songs, not all of the lyrics are a perfect match, of course, but I adore how in general the whimsical yet lonely nature of the song feels like it fits Phantom so well!

4. Eve - Fight Song

As the night still refuses to end, let’s dream

Last but not least the song I posted the above storyboard for! CSM fans (as well as Eve fans, lol) are probably already familiar with the song, and full lyrics here, though like the song above, only parts of the song (particularly the chorus) really resonated with the vj brainworms in my head lol Even for me, y’know Let’s make a break for the future Towards the verge of death like we pray for A boy that gave his word Today, just like back then As if there’s no more future ahead

ARC V MONTH DAY 18 - D/D/D - Different Dimension Day

A kind-of manga-inspired AU (but not rlly? Idrk) Just a lil over 800 words.

A/N: HEADS UP i haven't read all of the manga (literally like only some chapters in, and I forgot reading abt it for a long time. Yeah I should go finish reading that soon… (from what I've heard, excluding that one scene, its good anyway. And it did pique my interest for a bit).

And bc of that, this doesn't take place in any part of the Manga (& only contains some elements from it if ud even count em) so its literally an AU. Also, Yuya & Yuzu aren't here. Let's say they're just sleeping somewhere in their head for this one.

‘Over there, Ruri,’ a voice whispered into her mind. ‘That's him, right? Or at least the brother of the guy—the one we knew traveled from the past to this timeline, like us.’

‘Yes, Rin. That's him alright,’ Ruri thought back, peering at a certain boy from the corner of the small bar she was in.

‘Oh good, we finally got him,’ another voice whispered within her mind. ‘One of those Sakakis… Quick, we should get that USB from him while he's just sitting there.’

Ruri sighed. Serena, impatient as usual. ‘Yes, yes. I'm going.’

She stepped out of the shadows unnoticed.

‘But Yuri,’ Yuto thought as he drank some chocolate milk. ‘We're doing this for Yuya, remember…? It's for his sake.’

Things have been a bit complicated recently for Yuto and his brothers… And there was the possibility of Yuya knowing the truth and getting caught by Reiji…

Somebody accidentally fell onto him, making him spit some of the chocolate out.

He looked at the floor to see who it was, but he couldn't make out who they were as they sported a midnight blue cloak.

“Ahh, sorry…” The person apologized, kneeling to try and regain themself. By the tone of voice though, he made out that the person was female. “My mind has not been functioning correctly recently… and maybe I had a little too much drinks.”

Yuto smiled at them. “That's alright, ma'am. Do you need help?”

“Oh no, I'm alright. Thank you, though.”

When the person got up, Yuto saw some purple strands of hair spill from the hood of their cloak.

And when the person looked down on him, he was met with the most gorgeous pink eyes he's seen.

Something about them rang a bell in Yuto's heart and mind, almost enough to make him fully remember a memory…

A certain, small memory from a long time ago, one that seemed to be felt with joy and laughter.

It's been a long time since he's recalled something like that that didn't include his brothers.

‘Yuto-nii?’ Yugo called. ‘Why're you frozen? Are you okay?'

‘I'm fine, Yugo.’ “Well then ma'am, suit yourself. Be careful next time.”

“Will do.”

Another chord was struck.

That voice… He hadn't noticed it before, but it was… Familiar.

‘Hey guys… Does that person look familiar to you? And her voice, too?'

‘Well, it certainly made me feel something…’ Yugo mused, his metaphysical self seen only by Yuto and the rest of the brothers observing the woman with wild interest.

‘Yes, I agree with Yugo here. She sure does ring a bell, at least for me, too,’ Yuri agreed. That person sure caught their interest, and in an unusual manner, too.

Yuto decided to try and see who it was. He got up. “Excuse me, ma'am, but can you—’

‘Do you mind me asking about your name?’ Yuri interrupted. ‘Sheesh, know how to be polite, brother.’

“—do you mind me asking about your name?” Yuto quickly corrected, as even if it wasn't necessary, Yuri would continue to insist anyway.

“I do, actually,” she responded, although rather gloomily. “Why'd you want to know my name?”

With the other person, voices raced in her head.

‘Ruri!’

‘Oh come on, there you go again, falling for his charms.’

‘Says the one who keeps teasing her for crushing on him in the first place.’

‘Oh shut up, Rin. And that was years ago.’

‘Girls! Stop it,’ Ruri interfered. ‘I'll try my best… Gee…’

“Just out of curiosity,” Yuto shrugged.

Ruri looked down. “My name…” She paused.

‘Ohhh no…’ Rin said, clearly unamused. ‘Don't—’

“Ruri. Ruri Kurosaki.”

‘Ah, shit. Get ready for the chase.’

That was all it took for Yuto.

Suddenly, it was like a locked chest had suddenly been opened in his mind, causing a plethora of memories to rush their way into his—and his brothers’—brain.

‘What is all this!?’ Yugo exclaimed.

‘Memories, Yugo…’ Yuri clarified, also amazed at the sudden remembering. ‘Memories hidden and abandoned, left to decay and be forgotten because of the mission we set for ourselves to get Yuya out of this mess.’

“Ruri…” Yuto muttered.

If he recalled correctly, he was the sister of a dear old best friend of his, someone named Shun Kurosaki.

And also… His long lost crush. Her… Occasionally, he does think of her and her family… But to see her in person…

“Well, I'm off now,” Ruri nodded, pulling the hood of her cloak to her face, “...Yuto.” She walked to the other side of the bar, where another door was.

She knew his name!

‘Wait, if they're here too...Yuto, the USB, is it still there?’ Yugo asked, floating around him in search of it.

Yuto himself checked his pockets, but the USB wasn't anywhere in them. “Oh, shit…!”

He then looked at Ruri. “Wait, Ruri, how-how'd you get here!? And the USB—”

But before she could answer, she had already left the room.

Ending A/N: uhhh i wanted to post this on manga day but decided eh and posted it now.

Now this is just and idea, but I'm thinking of idk maybe writing one one day (don't hope on this too much ill prolly give up on the thing) myself? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ def with more emotion, influence of backstory, & other plot-related things when I may plan the thing.

My Opinions on Every Arc V Ship

Continuing my little “every ship of x Yugioh” series for no other reason than I feel like it. This time it’s Arc V because… a combination of Duel Links events, considering new ships, and Declan’s… existence put this series in particular back on my mind. Might use a combination of dub and sub names since within Arc V especially, which name I prefer varies wildly from character to character.

(Note after the fact: I did not realise just how many ships there were on this list. This took days to make. My descriptions get lazier and lazier the further into this you read, I can actually see myself slipping into insanity. Also, due to just how many ships there were on this list, I ended up considering a crap ton of new ships while writing this so... yeah these opinions might change in the future. A lot of these, especially the Dennis and Mieru ships, are more like first takes.)

Aceshipping (Masumi x Hokuto x Yaiba)

So basically LDS throuple. I can sort of get behind this but I’ve also been headcanoning Masumi as a mean lesbian for years now. Mean bisexual works too though. Based ship.

Alterationshipping (Yugo x Shinji)

I uh. I’m not really sure how this would work. Did they even meet? I guess they did both want to overthrow the rich but… I think Yugo was more concerned about fighting Yuri and looking for Rin at that point in the story. I don’t know, it seems a bit niche and not really my thing.

Amazonesshipping (Gloria x Grace)

Hard no. They’re sisters (and maybe twins?). Moving on.

Amethystshipping (Declan x Ruri)

Okay, really cool name aside, I cannot get into this ship whatsoever. I’m a believer in Declan and the bracelet girls and Riley and Shun all being reluctant siblings. That’s not canon (not within the series at least, Duel Links does lean into this though) but it’s how I see it so it prevents me from liking any of those ships. So I’m going to exclude any upcoming Declan/bracelet girl ship to save time.

Announcershipping (Nico x Melissa)

This is so stupid and I love it. They should duel each other with absolute garbage decks while announcing over their own duel like it’s the most epic duel in the history of the world like that one episode of Beyblade did with the two Blader DJs. Because there absolutely needs to be a card game version of that. You better not think I am being sarcastic right now. I mean this. It would be amazing.

Antiheroshipping (Edo x Kaito)

Can’t believe Arc V has canon crossover ships. I’ll do my best to go off specifically the Arc V versions of these characters. Kaito I’ve seen as aromantic for a while now and this ship… well, I can’t say I care for the idea of shipping a victim and a knowing willing participant of attempted genocide. Just… on principle. I can’t remember any of their actual interactions I’ll be honest. This ship doesn’t appeal to me.

Apparitionshipping (Yuya x Shun x Yuto)

Not my thing. I don’t have a particular reason for it, it’s just… eh.

Appleshipping (Yugo x Rin)

Yugo spent just about every second of his screen time either looking for Rin, talking about her, or crying over her. Kinda hard not to ship it.

Artemisshipping (Yuri x Yuya x Serena)

Okay, this one’s hilarious. Not because of anything in canon but because of the fic I wrote where Serena and Yuri eat the most horrible food combinations, horrifying both Yuya and Yuzu but especially Yuya. So that’s their dynamic in my head: Serena and Yuri do horrible things and Yuya faints. Top tier. Love this ship.

Asraishipping (Sayaka x Serena)

I interpreted Sayaka and Allen as much younger than the main group so not my cup of tea.

Astroshipping (Hokuto x Serena)

No feelings on this ship whatsoever. I never heard of it before now and I have no opinion on Hokuto.

Astrologyshipping (Hokuto x Mieru)

I think these two would be that one couple that talks about how their sun and moon signs are perfectly aligned and shares daily zodiac horoscopes with people. So I can kinda see it.

Athenashipping (Gloria x Serena)

And I also thought the Tyler sisters were way older than they might be apparently. Still don't like the ship though.

Attendshipping (Yuya x Gongenzaka x Yuzu)

Yeah, I can see this. There’s another throuple with Yuya/Yuzu I prefer but this is cute too. Yuya and Yuzu can sit on Gongenzaka’s shoulders and hold hands and ruffle his hair.

Aurorashipping (Serena x Rin)

Duel Links took a cannonball to basically every single bracelet girl/bracelet girl ship in the Serena event which was… something. I was really only into one of those ships and it wasn’t this one but yeah that was… a thing that happened. Even ignoring that though, I wouldn’t care for this ship in particular. Very pretty ship name though.

Bambooshipping (Yuya x Isao)

Nah. All they ever did was beat each other up.

Bardshipping (Sawatari x Ruri)

These two should start a band together. Or some kind of singing songbird choir like in My Little Pony. As a ship though… I really just wonder how Shun would react to it honestly. He’s oddly patient with idiots but if the idiot is his sister’s boyfriend…

Okay this is just turning into me coming up with fanfic ideas I'm never gonna write. My point is I think this ship is funny and they might have some common ground. So… I guess I kinda like it, though I have other ships I prefer.

Beamshipping (Ray x Yuya)

I am very confused by this ship’s existence and can’t get into it.

Birdcageshipping (Crow x Serena)

Nah, he’s too old for her in my confusing view of these characters’ ages.

Bettashipping (Yuya x Sora x Yuri)

This is like the Serena/Yuya/Yuri one for me: the dynamic I picture for them is just “they do horrible things to horrify Yuya and comedy ensues.” It’s not as good as that one but I enjoy the idea.

Bittersweetshipping (Yuya x Shun x Sora)

I don’t really care for either of these characters with Shun honestly but I’ll save those thoughts for those individual ships I guess. Not into this one.

Blackbirdshipping (Crow x Shun)

I shipped this one way back when I first watched Arc V. And now… it’s still my favourite Crow ship if we’re sticking strictly with Arc V. (I prefer his 5Ds ships.) I like the rapport these two have with each other, I like their outwardly gruff but inwardly protective almost fatherly personalities, and that little fist bump thing they do gives me life. Good ship. I hope they continue to visit each other post canon.

Blinkshipping (Yugo x Yuzu x Yuya)

This one weirdly kinda works thanks to all the screentime Yuzu and Yugo got together in the synchro arc? And Yuya and Yugo are so similar I could see them being best buds if they met again under different circumstances. Heck, honestly, throw Rin into this dynamic too. I can see them all getting along.

Bluemoonshipping (Serena x Moon Shadow)

I could see these two drinking blue moons. Can’t really see them as a ship though, sorry.

Bondageshipping (Sergey x Barret)

No thanks. To every Sergey ship. They're all eliminated because I dislike all of them for the same reason: I hate him.

Bootshipping (Yuya x Allen)

Shoulda named it redheadshipping /j.

Don’t like this ship cuz I feel like Allen’s a lot younger than him, or at least comes across that way.

Braceletshipping (Yuzu x Yuto)

This ship is forever tied to that frustrating “Yuya and Yuto look exactly the same!” bullshit from season 1 so I can't get into this.

Brashshipping (Serena x Sawatari)

Serena herself said no to this ship and I agree with her. Him trying to kiss her while she’s sleeping isn’t funny, it’s creepy. I’m glad Serena punched him in the face.

Canaryshipping (Crow x Yuzu)

I have no idea why this is a thing and can’t get into it.

Candyshipping (Sora x Yuya)

Yeah, I like this ship. It’s funny to me how much upbeat Sora annoys the usually tolerant chipper Yuya with his antics back in season 1. And also Sora can horrify him with horrible awful food fusions from hell.

Candyappleshipping (Sora x Mieru)

I think Sora should try and eat Mieru’s crystal ball apple. I have no idea what this means in relation to this ship, it’s just the first thing that came to mind when I saw it. So… uh…

I kinda like how Mieru is mainly a ritual summoner while Sora is mainly a fusion summoner and those are the two summons that revolve around spell cards. That’s fun. Not my thing though.

Ceremonialshipping (Michio x Mieru)

I like how similar their names are. Cannot remember their interactions for the life of me since these are both minor characters that never stood out to me so… eh?

Chantshipping (Mieru x Yuzu)

…jesus christ this one feels vicious towards Yuya. Not my thing.

Chaperoneshipping (Gongenzaka x Sawatari)

This ship name is just roasting Sawatari and I love that. As for the ship itself, I can see it. Not a huge fan but it could work.

Chiffonshipping (Sora x Masumi)

I can’t really see this working? I feel like they’d just be kinda mean to each other…

Circustarshipping (Yuya x Hokuto)

Not my thing because I don’t really care for Hokuto in general.

Classshipping (Declan x Yugo)

I can see Yugo annoying the absolute crap out of Declan, which would be funny, but… I already see him as way too old for Yuya, canon ages be damned, so same goes for Yugo.

Clearknightshipping (Serena x Yugo)

I liked their duel and I like how much Serena punched Yugo in the face for being an idiot. So… yeah, it’s a decent ship in my eyes, as ridiculous as that sounds.

Clearwingshipping (Yugo x Zarc)

Can’t see this working what with Zarc now only existing as some weird presence inside a de-aged baby.

Clingshipping (Futoshi x Tatsuya)

I hate Futoshi. That's my opinion on all his ships so I'm ignoring the rest.

Collisionshipping (Yuto x Yugo)

These two would probably get along if they could chill out and talk things out rationally. Yugo, ya ever try not being named fusion? Kidding, kidding. Good idea of a ship.

Concealshipping (Yuri x Ruri)

If someone ever asks why Yugioh ships don’t do the combined name thing that other fandoms do, just show them this.

Anyways, don’t like the ship because they have exactly one canon interaction and it’s not good.

Concernshipping (Yuya x Riley)

Riley is too baby to ship. So no.

Counterchargeshipping (Yuri x Kaito)

Same problem as Edo x Kaito for me except even worse because at least Edo eventually felt guilt for what he did, even if it was post murdering. Yuri is just a sadist (and four years younger than Kaito).

Counterpartshipping (Yuya x Yuto)

I honestly thought I’d ship this more than I do. It’s fine, it’s got enough moments that I understand why it’s a ship, but it never particularly grabbed me.

Covenantshipping (Declan x Moon Shadow)

This kind of gives me Spectre/Ryoken vibes. Except Moon Shadow is more mentally stable and not unhealthily obsessed with Declan the way Spectre is about Ryoken (at least the way I perceived it). So… the power imbalance is still there but I guess this is a more appealing version of that sort of dynamic for me ? I don’t know, I can sort of see this ship is my point. I’m just not very interested in Moon Shadow as a character.

Cowardshipping (Yuri x Sayaka)

No. That just feels messed up and not in a fun way.

Crescentshipping (Moon Shadow x Riley)

Riley is baby. Riley is like 9. I do not like shipping Riley with the teenagers.

Crewshipping (Sawatari x Ootamo x Yamabe x Kakimoto)

I no doubt spelled one of those names wrong because I don’t think I ever knew these names or spared those three friends of Sawatari’s more than like one of my brain cells. So this ship is completely whatever to me.

Daddyshipping (Leo x Yusho)

This is the worst ship I have ever seen in my life and also completely hilarious. I hope they’re bitter exes and stay away from all children ever because they are the worst fathers ever. They can be each other’s daddies though, that’s fine.

Dancingdivashipping (Yuzu x Asuka)

I don’t care for this ship but the name is fun.

Darkrebelshipping (Yuto x Shun)

Okay, age gap aside, I never got particularly into this one because they just seem way too similar and stoic. It’s a fine ship and I like their canon interactions but I just prefer them platonically.

Dartshipping (Sawatari x Yuya)

Okay, this is a fun one. They’re both such extra divas and some of their interactions in canon can look pretty flirty, especially out of context. I like this one.

Defectshipping (Grace x Edo)

You know, I’m actually kinda considering this ship now that it’s being presented to me. I can totally see Grace having a crush on Edo. I initially interpreted her having a crush on Yuya but honestly? I like this better. Maybe she always wanted to betray fusion but didn’t get the courage to until she saw Edo do it and that admiration of him and their shared experience later formed into romantic feelings. That’s a cute idea.

Defendshipping (Gongenzaka x Yuya)

I prefer them as friends but this is a decent ship.

Delightshipping (Ayu x Amanda)

This… kinda just feels like it exists because they look similar but okay. Not my thing.

Demonshipping (Mieru x Yuri)

I want Mieru to read Yuri's fortune or horoscope or whatever and just fucking faint from how horrifying it is. Bonus points if the fortune is something like “you will eat pineapple on pizza and like it.” I don't care for the ship but an interaction between them would be funny.

Dessertshipping (Sora x Sawatari)

Never considered this one. Well, I never considered most of these ships honestly but in the case of these two, I can’t remember any of their interactions, but I could see them being friends.

Dimensionshipping (Yuya x Yuto x Yugo x Yuri)

Again, legitimately perfect. No notes.

Divergentshipping (Declan x Shay x Yuya)

I feel like these three would sooner kill each other than date. Which like… if that’s what you’re into, all power to ya. Can’t relate but valid.

That goes for any ship I diss here or in my other posts, I’m not going after anyone when I give my opinions on these fictional ships.

Divineshipping (Stargazer Magician x Timegazer Magician)

Another legitimately perfect ship that I would die for. These two’s love for each other is so strong that they can reach across space and time and Yuya’s duel disk to summon up to five monsters all at once. True icons.

Dramaticshipping (Jack x Roget x Melissa)

Take the creepy old dude out of this and I could maybe get behind it, but as long as he’s here, the ship is a no.

Donationshipping (Yuzu x Halil)

I mean I can see him totally having a crush on her but Yuzu has more prevalent ship options that I’m more interested in. Also, this doesn’t have much to do with the ship but the first time I watched Arc V, I mistook Halil for a girl. So uh. Oops.

Dualityshipping (Kaito x Yuto)

4 years is definitely too big of an age gap for me when the characters are this young, sorry. Also aromantic Kaito.

Duskshipping (Dennis x Yuri)

I know they only interact a few times and it’s just to commit horrible crimes but I like this ship. I feel like Dennis would sweep Yuri off his feet and they would also commit arson together.

Elusionshipping (Dennis x Osiris red girl)

I have absolutely no idea who this girl is so I have no opinion on this. If it’s the girl that told Asuka about how horrible the war was and tried to escape with her though, then I prefer that ship.

Emblemshipping (Serena x Yuya)

I feel like the only chance in canon these two would’ve had to interact on any level is that time period in which Yuya was going insane over Yuzu being missing so… him getting a crush on someone who “looks exactly like her” and acts similarly to her would feel like way too much of a rebound. Could work in a post canon setting though even if on its own, it’s missing the chaos of something like Yuya/Serena/Yuri.

Enduranceshipping (Serena x Riley)

Riley is too baby to be shipped with a teenager. I can get behind a sister dynamic between these two though.

Entertainmentshipping (Yuya x Dennis)

Oh hell yeah another fun one. I stan these gay theatre kid bois and their antics and interactions. I particularly like their final duel where Yuya tells Dennis to just drop being an evil psycho and go into the entertainment industry. Fun stuff.

Epochshipping (Mieru x Gongenzaka)

Can’t believe Go Rush stole a name from an Arc V ship smh. Do something original Fo Gush. /j

In all seriousness, I can’t really see this one honestly. Nothing bad, just not a standout.

Escapeshipping (Asuka x Osiris Red Girl)

Okay this confirms what I said earlier about the Dennis version of this ship. Can't get into this either since I headcanon Asuka as aromantic but it's at least got some backing to it.

Exchangeshipping (Dennis x Halil x Olga)

Not really into the two minor characters but Dennis having a troupe made up of fellow exchange students is a cute idea.

Exhibitionshipping (Dennis x Michio)

Honestly Dennis can be shipped with just about anyone and I’d approve. He’s such an over the top flirty dumbass drama queen that the comedic/dynamic potential exists for all these ships. So this one's fine.

Facetshipping (Yaiba x Masumi)

Meh. Not my thing.

Fairyshipping (Mikiyo x Yuzu)

I have no idea who Mikiyo is and Google didn’t help so no thoughts on this one.

Fairytaleshipping (Mikiyo x Mieru)

No seriously, who is this girl? I don’t remember her even as I look at frames of her. If she’s associated with music, then the Yuzu ship makes more sense.

Fallenangelshipping (Yuto x Ruri)

These two are freaking adorable and honestly my second favourite bracelet girl/yu boy ship. I like the idea of Ruri being super forward and sweet and chipper and dragging Yuto off for adventures all while Yuto is being super shy the whole time. I love this ship dearly, it’s honestly one of my favourites and negates any desire I’d have to ship Yuto/Shun or Yuto/Yuya.

Fastenshipping (Gongenzaka x Rin)

Not really sure where this comes from. I guess they both use synchro? Not my thing.

Fatedshipping (Yuya x Mieru)

That’s a big nope from me. Yuya clearly does not like her.

Flightshipping (Odd Eyes x Clear Wing x Starving Venom x Dark Rebellion)

An absolutely perfect ship. May these wonderful dragons one day be reunited after their years of solitude and longing for each other.

Again, like Yuri/Ruri, their only canon interaction was a kidnapping so this is not my thing. Also, it feels cruel to Yugo and not in a funny way.

Foolshipping (Sawatari x Mieru)

Okay, if Mieru giving Sawatari a tarot card reading and him getting “the fool” and him freaking out isn’t a thing then I will write it because that is the most obvious and hilarious thing to come from this dynamic. I love it. I like it better than the GX Foolshipping that came up on Tumblr when I searched it RIP.

Foresightshipping (Declan x Mieru)

I mean I wouldn’t blame Mieru for having a crush on him but I can’t see him returning that. He would have way too much power over her.

Fruishipping (Yuya x Yuzu)

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES A MILLION TIMES YES THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ARC V SHIP I ADORE THEM THEY ARE AMAZING AND CUTE AND ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SHIPS IN THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE.

Frypanshipping (Sawatari x Crow)

Crow gives off more father figure vibes to nearly everyone in the Lancers apart from Shun and Declan so this ship isn't my thing.

Fuschiashipping (Yuri x Yuzu)

These two on their own feel kind of toxic. So nah.

Funshipping (Yuya x Grace)

It’s really easy to interpret Grace having a crush on Yuya but… I am won over by the idea of her actually having a crush on Edo instead, who she has more in common with.

Gembraceletshipping (Masumi x Yuzu x Serena x Rin x Ruri)

Ignoring the way Duel Links took a cannon ball to these bracelet girl ships, this is a fun idea.

Gensisshipping (Ray x Zarc)

This one makes way too sense. Three out of four of their counterparts are romantically involved with each other and the only ones that weren’t were forcibly kept apart their whole lives. The idea that Ray and Zarc were once in love before Zarc went off the rails fits the narrative well and adds another layer of tragedy to the situation. I kinda like the idea of Dennis apologising to her post canon and Ruri forgiving him and befriending him, which stuns him and makes him slowly fall for her. Yeah… I can kinda enjoy this honestly. It’s a total guilty pleasure but still a pleasure.

It’s a shame they didn’t get more screen time as a trio.

But she is different in Arc V, not that different upbringing would cause someone to be aromantic, that’s bullshit, obviously, but her personality and narrative were changed too. Honestly, I… I admittedly just kinda like my friend’s writing of them from what I’ve seen. I haven’t seen much but I like the dynamic she’s described. And also this one part I won’t spoil but man did it fit Kaito really well. And also Asuka did rebel against Fusion pretty quickly when she found out the truth so the whole fusion/xyz weirdness thing I have doesn’t apply here.

Uuuugh I’m really torn on this one, I can’t really give a concrete opinion on it but not in the same way as some of the other ships I’ve talked about here. No thoughts on this one, I can’t really see the connection. These just kinda seem like two random characters to me.

Holy shit I’m finally done. Arc V had way more ships than I expected. I don’t know why I forgot it had so many characters. Since I covered just so many ships this time and will probably be covering even more if I do this for the other series, I’m gonna list my top 5 favourites of this set! Here's Dennis's conversations with Yugo and Zuzu. I had no idea what Dennis did during Arc-V so seeing the different reactions has been very enlightening XD

Yugo: If it isn't Dennis! Dennis: Yugo...I heard you and Yuya were able to split back into two. Congratulati-- Yugo: Don't try to butter me up with your greasy words! I haven't forgotten what you did to Rin! Dennis: I can't change what I've done, but I am sorry. Yugo: ...Humph! If you wanna apologize, apologize to Rin and Lulu! Dennis: I promise I will. When they get here. Yugo: ...You really think Rin and Lulu are coming back? Dennis: Of course! You, Yuto, Celina - you all came back. So Rin and Lulu will too! Yugo: Yeah...Yeah! Maybe I had the wrong idea about you! Maybe you're not the worst guy in the universe! Dennis: That's right! I'm not! Yugo: Though you were dirty and shady and evil when I met you at Duel Academy. Bonds of the Soul, Chapter 2: Separated

Yuya awoke in his bed, and immediately felt off. The daylight in his room looked as though it were in the evening, and he felt a bit empty. As though a part of him were missing. A big part.

A sense of dread and unease filled him, and he immediately tried to call out to his counterparts in his mind. But he didn’t hear a reply back. This wasn’t good. While Yuri and Yugo may occasionally be too busy arguing to reply, Yuto always responded immediately when Yuya called out to him. Which could only mean one thing.

“They’re gone!” Yuya whispered in horror, tears filling his eyes. He jumped out of bed and ran out of his room. “MOM! DAD! THEY’RE GONE!” he wailed as he jumped onto the firepole and slid down. “I CAN’T FIND THEM! THEY’RE GONE!”

“What’s gone?” Yoko asked from the kitchen.

“My counterparts! They’re gone!” Yuya wailed.

“They’re in the living room,” Yusho reassured him.

Yuya blinked in confusion. “Huh?”

Then he turned to face the living room and saw Yuto, Yuri, and Yugo standing there. Yuya gasped and ran to them, tackling Yuto in a bear hug as he started sobbing in relief. “I woke up… and you guys were gone!”

“It’s ok, Yuya!” Yuto murmured, hugging him back. “We’re right here!”

“Can I get a hug, Yuya?~” Yuri purred. Yusho frowned at him from the kitchen doorway and crossed his arms.

Yuya ignored Yuri and hugged Yuto tighter. “Don’t ever scare me like that again, you hear me?”

“Ok,” Yuto said gently. He rubbed Yuya’s back and carefully guided him over to the sofa. Yuto sat down in the middle of the sofa and pulled Yuya into his lap. “It’s alright, we’re still with you.”

“Yeah, Yuri said this is only temporary,” Yugo said, plopping down next to Yuto and Yuya. Yuri elegantly lounged on the other side of them and smirked, “Yes, we can only be separated from you for a maximum of seventy-two hours at a time before we have to become one again to regain our energy.”

“So wait, then does that mean we can separate again afterwards?” Yuya asked curiously.

“Yes, that’s exactly what that means~” Yuri said, reaching out and pinching Yuya’s cheek. Yuya made a sound of discontent and batted his hand away. “You’re smarter than Yugo, I had to explain it twelve times before that moron understood!~”

“Hey! It’s not my fault you and Yuto inherited all of Zarc’s braincells!” Yugo yelled, balling his hands into fists. Yuya winced and covered his ears with his hands. Fortunately, the blunana noticed and lowered his voice. “Sorry, Yuya….”

“It’s fine, Yugo,” Yuya reassured him.

Yusho was still watching from the doorway. He didn’t like Yuya’s Fusion counterpart after everything he did. The XYZ counterpart seemed to be very protective of Yuya, and Yuya seemed to be very fond of him too, so as long as Yuto didn’t do anything to hurt him, Yusho felt he could approve of the edgy, eggplant-haired boy. The jury was still out on the Synchro counterpart though.

Yoko, of course, was already quite attached to all of Yuya’s counterparts. She was very excited to have a whole heap of adorable Yuyas in her house. After they had explained things to her and Yusho when they’d arrived on their doorstep with the unconscious tomato, Yoko had insisted on taking the three boys in. After all, they had nowhere else to go! And they were still technically part of Yuya! Yusho had agreed to take them in, but he was still keeping an eye on Yugo and Yuri. Especially Yuri.

“Well at least my headache’s gone,” Yuya said, resting his head on Yuto’s shoulder.

“Yeah, sorry about that, that was our fault,” Yuto apologized. “We were building up energy to defuse with you, and it was hurting you. Yuri says that it shouldn’t hurt you again though.”

“Yes, as amusing as your pain was, that was a one-time thing,” Yuri said, leaning back against the sofa lazily. “You won’t get a headache from us defusing again.”

“Good, cuz that wasn’t fun,” Yuya sighed.

“Dinner’s ready!” Yoko called out from the kitchen. Yuya’s face lit up happily, and he scrambled out of Yuto’s lap and raced into the dining room. Yuto, Yuri, and Yugo followed to find what appeared to be a full on feast on the dining table.

“Eat up, boys!” Yoko said, smiling at Yuya’s counterparts as they sat down. Yuya was already devouring his food. He loved to eat. And as someone who was very active physically, he needed a lot of food. Yuya took gymnastics classes, and burned more calories than most adults ate in a day, so his mother usually cooked a lot of food for him to stay healthy. Yusho sometimes joked that if it weren’t for the money that his duel school made, Yuya would have eaten them out of house and home years ago.

Yuto, Yuri, and Yugo on the other hand weren’t used to eating as much as Yuya ate. They ate as much as they could, but they couldn’t finish all the food Yoko served them. Fortunately Yuya was more than capable of eating everything they couldn’t. Yoko took notice of the counterparts’ smaller appetites, and made a mental note not to make so much for them. It would not do for them to get tummy aches from eating too much, nor for Yuya to overeat trying to make sure their food didn’t go to waste.

As the boys finished their food, Yuri felt something bump against his leg. He looked down, then gasped. “Puppy?”

A tiny shiba inu puppy was sniffing Yuri’s leg. Yuya looked down at it and blinked. “Well this is a new one! When did you adopt her, Mom?”

“While you were at school!” Yoko said brightly. “Isn’t she just adorable?”

“Does she have a name?” Yuri asked. Yoko shook her head. “Not yet.”

Yuri got up and picked the puppy up. “I will name you Yuugou!” he said, cuddling the puppy. Yugo rolled his eyes, but the puppy seemed to like the name and licked Yuri’s face. Yuri laughed a little and carried Yuugou to the living room to play.

Yuya helped his mother with the dinner dishes, and Yuto and Yugo did too, hoping to leave a good impression on Yoko and Yusho. It did seem to work, as the parents were both smiling.

After the dishes were done, Yuya, Yuto, and Yugo went back to the living room. Yuri was still playing with Yuugou, and seemed to be genuinely happy for once.

“Who’s a good girl?” he cooed at the puppy. The puppy yipped and licked his face. As bad and cruel as Yuri had been in the past, Yuya couldn’t help being happy that he was happy. He actually looked rather sweet playing with Yuugou. Yuya watched his Fusion counterpart from Yuto’s lap on the couch for a while, before he was suddenly overcome by a wave of exhaustion. All four of the counterparts yawned in unison, feeling sleepy all at once. Yuya closed his eyes for just a moment….

Yoko walked into the living room thirty minutes later, to find the most adorable sight. Waving her husband over quietly, she pointed. There on the couch were Yuya, Yuto, Yugo, and Yuri, all sleeping. Yuto was cuddling Yuya, who was still in his lap snuggling against his chest. Yuri was to the right of them, his head on Yuto’s shoulder. Yugo was to the left, sitting a bit sideways with his back against Yuto’s side. All four of them were snoring softly.

“Let’s let them sleep,” Yusho said softly. Yoko nodded, managing to resist the urge to coo over the adorable boys.

When The Other Members Tease Him Because Of A Hickey ~ Pentagon Reaction

Jinho:

The snigger that came from his left had Jinho’s head turning straight away, catching the smirk that was plastered on Wooseok’s face.

“I really wish that I could tell you that you’ve got something on your neck, but it’s too funny,” Wooseok told him with his smile growing.

“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” Jinho asked him, left unsurprised when Wooseok’s head nodded back at him. “Stop smiling like that, it was only an accident anyway.”

Wooseok held his hands up innocently, “you’re supposed to set an example to all of us.”

Jinho pushed gently against his arm, “maybe my lesson to you can be stop being so single and boring then maybe you can have enough fun to leave a bruise on your neck.”

“You can pretend that you don’t care, but I know that you do,” Wooseok told him, “you’re annoyed and embarrassed right now.”

“Just…let’s talk about something else,” Jinho tried to tell him, “I’m not sitting here entertaining your smug smile any longer.”

“Really? Because I was only just getting started.”

Hui:

His eyes looked across as a hand started messing with the collar of his shirt, looking inquisitively to what Hyunggu was doing by his side.

“Are you aware of this?” Hyunggu asked him, tapping against Hoetaek’s neck, only to see a genuine look of confusion staring back at him.

“See what?” Hoetaek asked, only to wish that he didn’t as Hyunggu turned him around and showed him what he had seen on Hoetaek’s neck as soon as he saw him.

A chuckle came from Hyunggu as Hoetaek realised, “are you really telling me that you had no idea?”

“I was running late this morning,” Hoetaek rushed, quickly beginning to panic, “I didn’t even look in the mirror this morning, just fixed my hair when I was running downstairs.”

“How?” Hyunggu asked him in disbelief, “does it not hurt? If I hit your neck, will I not hurt you if I catch over your bruise?”

“Try it and see what happens,” Hoetaek warned him, with Hyunggu quickly backing away. “You’ve got to help me try and hide it.”

“No way, this is well and truly your mess.”

Hongseok:

He didn’t quite know where to look, feeling Yuto’s eyes on him as soon as soon as he sat down, fearing what would be said as he looked at him.

“I thought it was wildlife outside last night the noise that was being made,” Yuto began, “but now I realise that it was humans instead.”

“I’m sorry,” Hongseok sighed, shyly looking away from Yuto’s eyeline. “I didn’t quite realise how loud the two of us were being until it was all a little bit too late.”

Yuto’s head shook as he stared at Hongseok’s neck, “at least it seemed like it was worth it for you.”

The corners of Hongseok’s mouth couldn’t help but turn up, “it was a pretty good night,” he admitted, catching Yuto’s eyes rolling out of the corner of his eyeline.

“Well, at least I’m not the one walking around with a hickey on my neck today,” Yuto smiled, “I’d rather be tired than this.”

“It’s not great, is it?” Hongseok sighed, knowing that the mark was slightly worse than he anticipated, “is it that obvious?”

“I mean, I wish you luck trying to cover it.”

Shinwon:

A smile appeared on Shinwon’s face as Changgu came towards him, drawn straight away to the bruise that was clear on his neck.

“What happened?” Changgu asked as he tapped over the spot, keen to know what Shinwon had managed to do to hurt himself.

“I slipped and fell in the shower last night,” Shinwon explained, his voice wavering slightly. “Took a bit of a knock against the side of the sink as I came down.”

Changgu’s eyes widened at his response, “has anyone ever told you that you’re a terrible liar?”

The smile on Shinwon’s face very quickly shrunk in size. “Is it really that obvious?” He quizzed Changgu, letting go of a sigh when his head immediately nodded back at him.

“I saw it before I saw anything else on you,” Changgu informed him, placing a sympathetic hand against his shoulder.

“Can you help me try and hide it?” Shinwon asked him, “surely there’s got to be something around here somewhere to use.”

“I think you’re a little bit too hopeful there.”

Yeo One:

He knew what was coming as soon as he walked into the room, hearing mumbles and sniggers come from every direction around the dressing room.

“Is Y/N aware that she’s marked her territory?” Hongseok asked him with a smile on his face, “are you aware everyone knows your hers?”

“Go on, laugh about it,” Changgu encouraged, wanting for them to get it all out of their system, “it’s hardly as if this happened on purpose, it was just an accident.”

The boys’ eyes all went wide, “at no point did it cross your mind that this might have happened?”

Changgu’s head shook in reply to Hongseok, “you’d all know if you had partners, but when you get lost in the moment it’s pretty difficult to remember any of what’s going on.”

“Don’t insult us to make you feel better,” Hongseok chuckled, “you’re the one walking around with a giant red bruise now.”

“Don’t remind me,” Changgu asked of him as he sat down, “I’ve not even faced any managers yet, then everything will go wrong.”

“You’re going to be in huge trouble for this.”

Yan An:

His body tensed up as soon as he felt Jinho moving around him, knowing exactly what it was that he was hinting at, wanting to push him away.

“You might need a darker foundation today,” Jinho jokingly told the makeup artist, “someone decided to give you more work to do.”

“Can you go away?” Yanan scolded, shooting a glare across at Jinho who strolled around his makeup chair. “You’re not helping anyone by being here don’t you know?”

Jinho shrugged in reply to himself, “I’m helping myself, watching this is fascinating stuff for me?”

Yanan’s eyes rolled in disbelief at how smug Jinho was. “As the eldest aren’t you supposed to help us in these situations, not walking around with an expression that I want to punch?”

“If you punch me, I’d probably have a similar bruise to you,” Jinho sniggered, “people might think that we’re twins.”

“Leave me alone,” Yanan cried out, frustrated that Jinho had an answer for everything, “your face is hard work for the makeup team too.”

“It’s still nowhere near as bad as your neck though.”

Yuto:

His shoulders dropped as the laughter picked up as soon as Yuto walked into the studio, carrying the elephant in the room on his shoulders.

“Do we need to ask you whether you enjoyed your night with Y/N?” Yanan asked him, “or shall we just let your neck do the talking for you?”

“We might have gotten a little carried away,” Yuto replied, with the other members scoffing, easily being able to tell just how much of an understatement that was from him.

Yanan couldn’t stop himself from taking a closer look, “Y/N really knows what she’s doing, right?”

“Hey,” Yuto sighed, hitting against Yanan’s chest. “I don’t mind you guys making fun out of me, but not Y/N,” he warned them all, quickly putting his boundaries down.

“It seems like Y/N can stand up for herself,” Yanan teased once again anyway, jumping back before Yuto could strike.

“She has no idea that she’s done this, and I’d like for it to stay that way,” Yuto asked, but heads shook all over the place.

“How do you ever expect us to keep this quiet?”

Kino:

Hurried hands tried to change Hyunggu’s shirt, doing so as a gasp came from beside him, not quite being sharp enough for Shinwon to miss.

“Looks like someone was busy last night,” Shinwon smirked, pulling Hyunggu’s collar down to check that he had seen what he thought he saw.

“Stop, I don’t want the others seeing,” Hyunggu panicked, readjusting the collar on his shirt to make sure that it covered as much of his neck as possible from the others.

Shinwon’s head shook in disbelief back at him, “did you forget that we had meetings all day today?”

Hyunggu’s head nodded in reply, “I completely lost track of the days, maybe that’s just what Y/N does to me. If I wear it like this, you can’t see anything on my neck anyway, can you?”

“No,” Shinwon told him, watching Hyunggu’s smile grow, “but, you do look like a right idiot wearing your shirt like that.”

“No,” Hyunggu groaned, his smile quickly dropping as he moved his collar around again. “Can’t you help me look normal Shinwon?”

“I can’t magic hickeys off I’m afraid Hyunggu.”

Wooseok:

The sound of Hoetaek laughing greeted Wooseok as soon as he walked into the dressing room, catching what was on his neck straight away.

“What do you call that shade of red?” Hoetaek asked him, tapping against his neck, “it’s the same colour that I want for my new phone case.”

“Shut up,” Wooseok scolded, knowing exactly what it was that Hoetaek was on about. “I’ve tried to cover it with makeup, and it was no good, I’m well and truly stuck.”

Hoetaek nodded in agreement with him, “who knew are youngest was getting so much action?”

Wooseok leant across and pushed against Hoetaek to try and get him to leave him alone. “Do you know how embarrassing the walk up here was this morning? Everyone was staring.”

“Can you blame him?” Hoetaek asked him honestly, “you would stare if it was someone else with a hickey, wouldn’t you?”

“Maybe,” Wooseok replied, not wanting to give him to Hoetaek, “but most people probably aren’t as stupid as me to do this as well.”

“Unfortunately, I think you might be right.”

Day 21: League of Dueling Seriously @arcvmonth

I really like the Lancers. They're a group of fun and likable characters, but I wanted to focus on Reiji for this prompt. I really like his design. I love his long red scarf. It's so ridiculous that it comes back around to being cool. It's some peak YGO fashion. His deck is really cool. It has some great monster designs and I've been using it a lot in Duel Links. I tend to favor power decks, so being able to easily summon something like D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf on the first turn can be really helpful. He's also the second Arc V character that I was able to fully level up in Duel Links.

I also think he's pretty underrated among the fanbase. I think at least part of that is because it's easy to misread his character. It's easy to see his calm, distant demeanor as being cold, heartless and basically making him to be a bigger jerk than he is. That was the case with me at least when I was watching the series as it was airing. It took me a long time to like Reiji, especially after his second duel with Yuya where he was being really harsh in trying to push him. But he does care about other people. He spent years preparing to fight against Academia and doing whatever he could to protect Standard. That doesn't mean that everything he did was right, but that he wasn't this heartless person either. Unlike the vast majority of the cast, Reiji isn’t openly emotional. He keeps his feelings close to the chest, focused on what he needed to do instead of his own feelings. This was most likely the result of finding out his father's plan three years prior to the start of the series. Thirteen year old Reiji was a lot more emotional, demanding answers from Leo, while sixteen year old Reiji is more calm, collected and reserved. Finding out that his father abandoned him and his mother to effectively start a war forced Reiji to grow up too fast. There are moments where his feelings break through that demeanor, such as when he was so angry hearing Yuto's recount of what Academia did to Heartland, so he clearly was upset over what his father had done on top of abandoning him and his mother.

I also like Reiji as a rival. He felt pretty refreshing when he wasn't a traditional rival or had a traditional kind of rivalry with Yuya. Not that those are necessarily bad things. Traditional rivals and rivalries can be really solid, but I think I was a bit tired of that format after the past few series. It helped to make him stand out and he's my second favorite rival in the franchise next to Jack. I like that both Yuya and Reiji are polar opposites in regards to how they handle their emotions. They both lost their fathers, even if the circumstances were quite different since Yusho didn't intend to abandon his family like Leo did, and that had a huge impact on both of them. Reiji trying to push Yuya into becoming a stronger duelist was also a different take on how rivalries typically go, even if it did seem like pushing Yuya too hard and harshly after the Battle Royal.

I think that it was smart choice to have Reiji duel sparingly for the first two seasons. Admittedly, I'm sure that it was at least partly due to Yoshimasa Hosoya's busy schedule, but I think it still worked out in their favor. Reiji is easily the strongest duelist in the cast with being able to summon Fusion, Synchro, Xyz and Pendulum monsters relatively easy. But he never felt overhyped to me like I think some past and future rivals kind of fall into. He didn't come off as broken or overpowered to the point where I wondered why he didn't just face Academia all by himself. It also fit with his personality. Reiji doesn't jump straight into battle. He observes from the sidelines, figures out the best strategy to go with based on what they know and only take direct action when he deems necessary. Plus, I figured that he wouldn't lose to anyone who wasn't Yuya and maybe Leo, so that would limit how much tension they could get from his duels. While that did limit how much dueling he could do prior to getting to Academia, I thought that it still worked well and he still had some good moments in Synchro even before getting to duel Roger like calling out the City Council and having some bonding moments with Reira.

I also really like his friendship with Yuya. It felt like it was based on mutual respect and was pretty believable. While Yuya was understandably upset with Reiji for a good chuck of the Synchro arc, Tsukikage told him that he wouldn't be working with Reiji if he didn't care for his allies. Afterwards, Yuya stared to call Reiji by his first name instead of Akaba Reiji, which I think meant he didn't see Reiji in the same way anymore. I don't think he could have really argued with Tsukikage when the evidence that Reiji was still keeping an eye on the defeated Lancers was right in front of him. At the end of the arc, Yuya stood up for Reiji, knowing that he wasn't the kind of person that Roger was trying to paint him as after revealing his father was the Professor. And when they confronted Leo at Academia, Reiji returned the favor by standing up for Yuya. After seeing Yuya's duels in the Synchro Dimension, he believed in his skills and chose to help Yuya instead of helping his father. It was a pretty nice moment and I think having a less antagonistic rivalry helped to make that development more believable.

I really loved Reiji's reactions to finally meeting with Leo again. Even after he learned the truth about Leo's plans and that Yuya is Zarc's reincarnation, Reiji still stood up for Yuya, called him his friend and tried to help him even with Zarc trying to take over Yuya’s soul. Of course Reiji wouldn't choose to work with his father after all they've went through, but Leo could easily counter Reiji's strategies. Even when his plans didn't go smoothly or there were unexpected problems in the past, Reiji was usually able to keep calm, collected and figure out where to go from there But his calm demeanor was starting to fade here with Leo calling him out for being too honest, straight forward and basically predictable. Reiji spent years planning this confrontation and had more than enough reason to be confident in both his and Yuya's skills, so he was taken aback by Leo calling him out like that. This moment wouldn't have been nearly as impactful as it was if Reiji had struggled against more opponents throughout the series. Reiji is easily one of my favorite characters of the series, as well as one of my favorite rivals in the franchise, and I don't think he gets enough attention from the fanbase.

Hajun Yeon:

You hadn’t meant to confess to both Anne and Allen, but the former had burst into the room as you confided in Anne about the hopelessness of it all. It ended with the three of you have a serious conversation, Hajun’s two dearest friends not knowing how he even felt when it came to having a serious relationship. It makes your stomach turn when Allen mentioned Hajun’s flirtatious personality when in his princely persona, with Anne elbowing him before changing the topic; Hajun could probably commit, but nothing would get solved if you weren’t honest with him.

Hajun listened with mild discomfort, knowing these were words that weren’t for him (yet), that he shouldn’t even care that much about them but… He can’t deny the tightness in his chest as you confess to his friends, not even put off by the horrible light they unintentionally painted him in. He couldn’t interrupt the moment because he knew Anne was right, he’d never take you seriously unless you came to him directly, but he supposed that wasn’t the easiest thing in the world with his personality. He took a few steps away from the entryway before noisily closing the front door, signaling his return and giving the three of you a chance to go quiet before he entered the room.

Hajun would simply wait, rather impatiently, for you to make your move to respond accordingly.

Kanata Yatonokami:

Nayuta had a way of getting you to talk even when you didn’t want to, and recently, he’d been quietly observing your relationship with Kanata. It was pretty clear to him what was going on, but it seemed you and Kanata continued to act blind, just avoiding each other when the feelings grew too intense until they were back under control. He thinks it’s annoying to deal with and while he didn’t care whether you dated, he wanted one of you to at least admit to it and get it over with. You admit your feelings to him but Nayuta sighed, saying he didn’t need to hear it, but Kanata did.

Kanata, who had just returned home from a quick run to the store since you and Nayuta had pestered him for snacks, stopped when he realized he was the topic of discussion. He frowned at how direct his twin was being, not knowing why he was telling you — Kanata stopped himself from bursting into the room when Nayuta implied Kanata had feelings for you, wanting to break the conversation up before Nayuta said something that really got him. You admitting that you returned his feelings felt like a punch in the gut, having to turn around and consider taking a little longer with his trip as he could hardly process what he just overheard in such a short amount of time.

Kanata can’t help staring at you while you’re looking elsewhere, allowing himself to be curious for a brief few seconds on what might happen if you were to confess to him.

Kenta Mikoshiba:

Shion and Yuto weren’t the first people you considering confessing to, and throwing Ryoga into the mix made this an awkwardly silent room where three men were looking at you with surprise/minor confusion. You mumbled out a few more awkward sentences that explained the minor crush you had on Kenta, with Shion humming in thought while Yuto and Ryoga remained unable to offer advice. You knew the latter two would have recommended honesty, but Shion asked if you truly intended to do something about your crush. He could support you putting in the effort to date someone as difficult as Kenta, but he wouldn’t want to waste his time with counseling you if you weren’t serious.

Kenta is frozen in his spot, mouth half-open as he had been about to loudly complain about something he couldn’t even remember. Hearing you confess to the others was embarrassing, more than embarrassing, it was something so mortifyingly beyond embarrassing he wanted to burrow underground to never be seen again. He doesn’t have a handle on his feelings and he can’t imagine why, despite his negative feelings, there’s an odd ticklish feeling in his chest and stomach. He went back outside to get a mouthful of fresh air, hoping the cool temperature outside will help calm his burning face.

Kenta thinks he’ll be able to operate normally, but he ended up confessing first, without admitting that he overheard you seeking advice from the other members of GokuLuck.

The two of you are basically inseparable. Especially when he's struggling with his uni assignment despite you guys studying two different majors. As long as he has his favorite drink and favorite person, he believe he can go through any hardships!

He's a dork, alright. A dork with so many things on his mind. He's the type to remember the most random thing about you or what you've mentioned but a lot of times not the important ones. Yet you're always patient with him because years of friendship with him made you accept the fact that he's a baby trapped in a big body

You were worried when he told you he wanted to start a band, because a part of you didn't want to see Yuuto repeat the history but at the same time you want to see him fly and reach the stars above. Meanwhile, you were the core motivation for him to go back on his dream. For once, he wanted to do something to make you proud of him. A simple token of gratitude for always being there for him no matter the situation.

The four addition to his band made him realize how important you are to him. Without your to support him all these time, he wouldn't be able to reach where he is right now. And your frequent absence in his life felt like a slam in his face. It's not like you're absent because of any issue between the two of you, it's just that both of your are busy chasing each other's dream to the point where these sacrifices has to be made.

It pains him to see how many time you have to reject his invitation to watch the band live, but all he could do as your best friend is to support whatever decision you make, right?

Oooooh I want Wataru with a best friend that either has the same obsession to sweets as him or someone that's completely the opposite. Like, someone that will drag him by the back of his shirt away from a bakery LOL

Both of you promise to go hang out occasionally to catch up on each other's life no matter how busy you guys are. if Wataru is currently close to where you or vice versa, a hangout between two *cough* best friend *cough* shall be arranged immediately

You're the first person Wataru go to when it comes to checking his new song. Speaking of the lyrics, can you tell that some of the lines are made with you in his mind? No? Hmm, maybe he's not obvious enough

On bad days he'd be cooped up in his room by himself. He'd be spamming you with messages and asking you to call him when you got the time. The days might be rough but at least he got to hear his favorite sound, which is your voice

Imagine if the lyrics he'd written were becoming more and more romantic and Rio was like, "Who are you writing these for?" and then the realization hit him and he went "Ah, that's why you've been writing while being on the phone with someone."

Funny enough, not even Wataru himself realize it. He had thought that it's how best friends are, even if they don't talk everyday doesn't mean the person doesn't go through his mind everyday. Rio's words starting to weigh day by day and Wataru doesn't know what to do with the feeling in his chest. A part of him is afraid to confess because the probability of you leaving him was never 0 but a part of him also wants to take this relationship to another level

What he doesn't realize is how you always compliment the lyrics that were actually directed at you. He thought you were simply criticizing but it's your way of saying "they catch my attention the most, how do you write all of these?" Seriously both of you need to be more direct wit each other. Open your heart a little more, ok?

Aren't you curious on what he writes every time you talk about other guys that has potential to be with you romantically? I hope not. They're all secure at the deepest part of his drawer and hopefully one day he'll the one to win your heart instead.

The king of tease istg. Oh you have difficulty in anything? Here's how it will go. 1. He'll either call you clumsy or cute, it's always one of the two. 2. He'll say: "What will you ever do without me around?" 3. He'll help you. Of course he will, what kind of best friend do you take him for? 4. He'd ended up not helping at all. He did all the work by himself instead which make you feel dumb at times because how else will you be good at those things? 5. If you say anything other than "Thank you" he'll reply with "Do you really need to be good at them when you have me around?"

Both of you might be best friends since early childhood or high school so you already know what he's like before the band came along. You noticed every little change in him but he doesn't ever want to hear it. Kind of unfair since he love to tease but doesn't want to be teased back.

Since the beginning of your friendship Rio would randomly give you something at random times. An apple at P.E class, a bag of candy on weekend, a new pair of cute sock at 3rd period of Monday, you name it. And there's always a paper attached to it with either him bullying you (affectionately) or weird drawings he did on boring classes. The other classmates genuinely thought the two of you were dating that they're surprised they learn the truth.

"You guys should date, then." If you get a dollar for every you hear it, you'd be rich by now.

Fast forward to present time, the teasing never go away it's a huge part of character at this point. But do you want to know what changed? His demeanor when you're introducing him to another one of your guy friends. In his head his existence in your life is equal to all the guys in the world combined so why would you need another guy in your life? Especially one as capable as Rio.

The things he'd do to show his stance to these guys are usually having his arm on your shoulder, carrying your bag even though you're not carrying anything other than that, leaving the group for a moment only to come back with your favorite snack and say "What? Isn't this your favorite?", and more.

One of these days he feel like saying "Remember what those people always tell you about our relationship? I think It's time to give them what they want."

Japan lost to penalty shootout to Croatia 

Despite scoring the opening goal against Croatia, Japan lost 3-1 in a penalty shootout to Croatia after a back-and-forth 1-1 draw over 120 minutes. The loss saw Japan fall short in its fourth attempt to reach the quarterfinals of a World Cup, having previous reached the stage in 2002, 2010 and 2018.

But this tournament — Japan’s seventh straight World Cup appearance — marked a shift from its previous alternating cycle of group-stage and last-16 exits, after the team defeated former world champions Germany and Spain to qualify for the knockouts as the winner of a Group E considered by many to be a “group of death.”

“We beat Germany, we beat Spain … we have that confidence. We’re not catching up anymore, we’re trying to race ahead. The future looks bright.”

“I’m sorry to our fans. Your support reached us and we wanted to match it.”

Despite the disappointment, the moment quickly passed and came out the blue trash bags as fans began cleaning the stands and pickup trash. They went across the aisles shuffling the litter into bags before handing them to smiling — and clearly delighted — stadium workers on their way out.

Three things we can learn from them :

Don’t take life too seriously. Instead of expressing their unhappiness and venting their frustration over losing the game by causing riot or burning cars, they accept that it’s a good game and the fact that they’ve made it further than the previous World Cup is worth celebrating.

Don’t care about what others say. People will always have something to say regardless of what you do. You messed up the place, people say you are irresponsible. You cleaned up the place, people say you are showing off. Just do what you feel in your heart is right.

Think positive. Japan Coach Hajime Moriyasu bowed and thanked fans for their support. He praise the players for their efforts as they tried under such immense pressure. He’s happy that they got to defeat the world cup champions, Germany and Spain, and believes Japan will bounce back.

Defender Yuto Nagatomo added: "It's difficult to find the words. I think the regret we feel with this loss will lead to something better in the years to come."

A warrior is not someone who always win but always fight. 

They put up a good fight till the end and hold the line for as long as they could maintaining a draw of 1-1 between Japan and Croatia which results in penalty kicks. That alone to me, is admirable and commendable. It could’ve been worse if Croatia was able to crush them as Brazil did to Korea with 4-1.

not that i dislike when yuri is portrayed in a softer, more human way, but somehow even the canon “development” (can’t write that without the quote of sarcasm, so sorry) towards being friends with yuya &co feels so rushed for him. the dude was literally immersed in a hunter/colonizer mindset and he damn right enjoyed it, though he still was carrying out akaba leo’s orders — then he went to a more independent stance of “oh i’m gonna kill everyone because it’s fun and also i hate people and also i wanna prove myself the strongest and then suddenly?? i can sort of accept him swiftly urging yuya to absorb him after he lost the duel, because that’s the life-on-the-line procedure of playing he’s always followed (though i expected at least a bit more, i don’t know, shock after his first loss ever), but after zarc came and went i was literally watching with raised eyebrows because how come yuri is suddenly in such a good sync with the other three? i get that they originally were one person, but they lived separately long enough to develop separate, individualistic identities and it just doesn’t make sense, the way he had been consistently established as a malicious, bloodthirsty, stop-at-nothing sadist before.

give me yuri who’s seething because he has to share a mind (and a duel) with yuto, whom he still automatically considers an XYZ underdog. yuri who hates the fact that he has to even play under such conditions, but he can’t just back away because he’s afraid to risk another loss (it’s still somehow his body, though not his only now). yuri who’s livid when yuya prepares set up’s for other summoning methods than fusion — its so obvious that fusion, that starve venom, are simply superior to whatever else might be conjured, so why waste time and cards, why put yourself at a risk, to go for weaker strategies? yuri who forgets at times that he even lost to yuya because his mind back then was all “we will become one” to the point of barely registering anything even slightly unrelated. he’s so incredulous, so unwilling to accept this fact that he would have denied it, if all evidence wasn’t against him. yuri who longs to seclude himself at the back of their collective mind, who misses the authority and privileges he’s enjoyed for so long at the fusion academy, as he suddenly is forced to barter with some underlings instead of ordering them around or forcing out of his way. yuri who constantly bickers and trashes around with yugo, as he considers him a luck-reliant, untrustworthy idiot and who won’t even lower himself to address yuto — but when they do start talking, they won’t stop at anything to get at each other. yuri who boasts of how he kidnapped ruri and rin, but who is simultaneously flooded by the grieving rage that these words evoke in yuto and yugo (even their minds aren’t half as separate as he’d wish them to be). yuri who insists he should be the one in control of their body and yuri who’s dissatisfied with each duel because what’s that crap about smiling and making your opponent have fun even for? yuri who’s longing to grind his foes under the heel of his shoe again, to indulge in the despair he sees in their eyes, to rip them apart and hold their life in his hands, pulsating with a slow, hypnotic rhythm and have it die out with a single gesture and…

yuri who really has to learn to adapt to the new reality, for whom months pass before he even begins to makes peace with this outcome of the dimensional war. yuri who actually remains the villain he is established to be throughout the series — but a villain in the process of changing, slow, painstaking and unwilling as it may be.
