Thinking about the aftermath of Maneki-Neko....

Turns out, welding the two most powerful miraculous in existence paired with the mental strain of fighting the hardest, most dangerous and most PERSONAL Akuma without anyone to help (because they all got NERFED, this is the chapters where she gives out all the miraculous because she's so *desperate* but they all end up failing because the Akuma is so fucking badass)

Galacta: how's Vari by the way?

Maes: she's been doing good, she was an exceptional swordswoman before my death.

Dark: who are you talking about?

Maes: my daughter. You know some tidbits about the "phenomenon" right? Afterwards I was married to the crown prince Pual of my planet. A lot happened until we were able to meet each other again.

Dark: that sounds-

Galacta: she's also my daughter by like %15

Dark: wait, what!?

Maes: long story short, the council was sorta xenophobic when it came to the two of us. Has to do with the theory of hybrids becoming more powerful with these mixes of genes. The ancients were paranoid...

Dark: then how did you two happen!?

Galacta: trust me when we say we view each other as friends and nothing more. Maes' priests were not happy when we hang out, so they forced her into a marriage.

Maes: Pual didn't like it either, he was gonna propose to his battle buddy but those jerks refused it in favor of my magic.

Dark: that's fucked up

Galacta: exactly. The ancient era was not kind and somewhat corrupt.

Maes: I really didn't want my daughter to be used against her will so the next time I saw Galacta, I wanted him to combine our energies a little.

Dark: and what exactly is that supposed to do?

Maes: there were theories and methods involving asexual reproduction. One of the most tested methods was energy combination. By doing so an offspring is created without doing the nasty stuff and is a fast process. I was heavily pregnant at the time and it was a risky decision.

Dark: because of the xenophobia?

Maes: no. My people worship the first Seras, our God, and people have prophesied that there will be a winged Seras who is blessed by her. That Seras will be able to walk freely, from her destiny...

Dark: and that's what you wanted...

Galacta: it wasn't easy. It had to be the right amount or people would know that she isn't the king's daughter. Enough energy to be able to have wings.

Maes: it unfortunately didn't happen until after my planet's fall. Vari had to go through so much that it took for our planet's demise to finally be free...

Dark: I... I'm sorry to hear that

Maes: what's worse is that after escaping those asses captured Galacta and sealed him after not telling where we are...

Galacta: Maes, stop blaming yourself. I decided to help and I honored our friendship even after what the council put me through.

Maes: well Vari is out there. Hopefully she's happy out there. So, our relationship is just purely platonic Dark

Dark: I see that. I'm just... intrigued at how strong you're friendship is.

Maes: with a group as crazy as ours, our bond was just as strong.

more backstory that i wrote up for patreon heh:

Simon and Tommy had a complicated relationship as brothers. 

At a young age, Simon basically wrote himself off as a lost cause, and did the best he could to make sure at least Tommy had a chance to be a functioning human being. After all, Tommy was the gentler brother, the dreamer, the one who looked like their mother (who'd walked out on them years ago to escape their father). But Tommy got bitter, got sick of the one always being protected, being babied. He lost respect for Simon, for the way he wouldn't fight back, and in a twisted way, grew closer to his father as a way to learn how to be powerful, strong. It backfired, and Tommy got wrapped up in some bad business.

Simon's kid brother died while he was deployed. He got the news in the letter, and it broke him in a big way. In the story timeline, it was years and years ago but it still hurts like hell whenever Simon thinks about him.

So, when Leo's around 10-ish, he accidentally stumbles accross a box filled with a bunch of Lou Jitsu movies (there's even some merch in there!) Which confuses him, considering Draxum had banned anything Lou Jitsu related in their household. He'd shown them some footage from Lou's Battle Nexus fights for research purposes, but his movies were appearently "nothing but human propaganda" so they were strictly off limits..... so why did Draxum even have these?

Leo knew that he'd definitely get in trouble if he watched them and his dad found out but.... if this is the guy who appearently kidnapped his Long Lost Brother, then he should know more about him, right? If Leo was gonna save the softshell from the evil clutches of Lou Jitsu one day, he needs to prepare. So he decides to watch the movies, y'know, for research purposes.

So he does that and uh-

Okay, so in this AU, Leo is a HUGE Lou Jitsu fanboy, and he hates himself for it. Cuz on one hand, he's clearly evil and responsible for taking his softshell brother away from them, but DAMMIT he's just so cool! And Leo appearently has this guy's DNA!? How awesome is that!?

He manages to hide his Lou Jitsu obsession from his family, and being introduced to his movies led to Leo seeking out other human media as well. There are a couple of different reasons why Leo is the first to go against Draxums evil plan and one of those is that, unlike his brothers, Leo is quite familiar with human society and culture. Him being able to teleport also leads to him sneaking to the surface sometimes find out more about humans. All of this leads him to eventually realize that humans really aren't that different from yokai, uh oh, are we the baddies?

I got my hair cut the other day and of course I had to draw the dca boys running a hair salon:

Sun would be so effortlessly charming. Always chatting away with customers, explaining each product he uses and how to best maintain and style their hair.

Moon I can see being popular with the less chattier customers (like me) but over time they begin to open up. I imagine he hums while working. Otherwise, he's all ears for the newest gossip.

(The clipped up hat idea came from @bamsara's solar lunacy doodles!)

Also I love the popular headcanon that the dca can speak other languages, so I can imagine them being a hit with the aunties.

Other thoughts about this... AU? Can I call it an AU? Feels kinda small for an AU, but whatever:

Eclipse works there too! Haven't decided if it would be canon or fanon Eclipse, though I really like the image of 4-armed Eclipse working on 2 clients at once (plus, the nickname Clip is perfect for this scenario)

of course they're great with kids! They'd be able to console kids that get scared of getting their hair cut. Sun would do a little trick and tell them how good and brave they are all the way through. Moon would console them and hum a soothing song (or hey maybe they notice the kid's wearing a disney shirt and starts humming some showtunes). Every kid gets a candydrop and a balloon on their way out.

y/n works at the hair salon as a part-timer and does tasks around the salon like sweeping, arranging bookings, washing hair, etc. They don't really care too much about their own hair, but the boys are always offering to style it, dye it, braid it. With y/n's permission, the boys always toy with their hair—patting it, combing their hands through it, brushing it over y/n's ear, ruffling it.
