I'm watching every Disney movie in alphabetical order.
Tumblr media
The List:
I took "the" out of all the movie titles so everything wouldn't be toward the end. And I did everything alphabetically rather than by release date because I wanted to get a proper mix of the different eras. I would die trying to watch all the 2000s Disney movies in order, so I feel like the eras being mixed would fuel my motivation to continue my watching spree. I have a few rules for this watching session.
🧸No movies from Pixar, Fox, Marvel, or any other Disney-owned partner
📀No Direct-to-DVD Sequels
🐭No shorts, Fantasia, or anthologies
Aladdin Alice in Wonderland Aristocats Atlantis Bambi Beauty and the Beast Big Hero 6 Black Cauldron Bolt Brother Bear Chicken Little Cinderella Dinosaur Dumbo Emperors New Groove Encanto Fox and the Hound Frozen Frozen 2 Great Mouse Detective Hercules Home on the Range Hunchback of Notre Dame Jungle Book Lady and the Tramp Lilo and Stitch Lion King Little Mermaid Meet the Robinsons Moana Mulan Oliver and Company One Hundred and One Dalmatians Peter Pan Pinocchio Pocahontas Princess and the Frog Ralph Breaks the Internet Raya and the Last Dragon Rescuers Rescuers Down Under Robin Hood Sleeping Beauty Snow White Sword in the stone Tangled Tarzan The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Treasure Planet Winnie the Pooh Wreck-it-Ralph Zootopia
Extra Fun:
🐇To make things extra fun I have decided to watch the movies with @bhunyee.
🪞A list of references made in Twisted Wonderland
👑I came up with a list of Disney tropes for every movie that I watch:
#1 Racism or the portrayal of non-white racial groups in poor taste #2 Using minority groups, such as LGBTQ, for comedic relief #3 General ickiness or an obvious dirty joke #4 Twist Villain #5 An animal sidekick for a humanoid main character #6 Dead biological parent(s) #7 Has a sequel or spin-off #8 References / Easter Eggs for other Disney movies #9 Has at least 2 bangers #10 Things you wouldn't expect in a kids movie(alcohol, smoking, corpses, etc.) #11 No magic or fantasy #12 Disney "prince/princess" doesn't end the movie as true royalty #13 Well known lost/deleted/cancelled/edited media or hidden background

Hi!!
Listen, HoM AU, flawless, but imagine this, Yuu doesn't like any of the main cast and is instead in love with a more side character like Ruggie or Najma, AND THEY LIKE THEM
Oh the chaos
First of all, I would just like to point out that Najma is a Queen and the Viper family genes are superior.
Second, good Lord, the chaos that would occur can written in history books. I have had the thought of what would happen if HoM found out that Yuu was going on a date (it's not even a date - they were just hanging out in the town square together) with Savanaclaw A-kun or Scarabia B-kun which would end with the main cast and the HoM being like "it's just a phase. it's just a phase. it's just a phase. we can talk to her about this."
(I always thought that Jack was twisted from the wolves from Jungle Book so I headcanon that Savanaclaw has both Lion King and Jungle Book characters which made me think of an OC that's twisted from Bagheera that Yuu is friends with)
Imagine if it was Ruggie, though. Jack, Leona and the Lion King cast are going to have mixed reactions. The hyenas are going to be cackling like mad at the disgruntled lions as they celebrate at Ruggie's new relationship because they really like that kid and consider him family.
Scar: Traitors
Shenzi: Takes one to know one
Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, Zazu and Rafiki are concerned (well, not Rafiki). They really care about Yuu and they don't exactly see hyenas as the most trustworthy creatures (especially PTSD-Simba from Lion King 2) but Yuu seems happy and Ruggie clearly adores her so they'll keep quiet.
Timon: It just had to be hyena!
I feel like even though the Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, Lion King, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and Hercules cast are rooting for the Dorm/Vice Dorm Leaders, they would be alright if Yuu got together with someone from their story's dorm. At least it shows she still has some form of taste (except Maleficent. For her it's either her grandson or nothing. She was so looking forward to planning Malleus and Yuu's wedding)
The rest of the club would be like "WHO THE HELL IS THIS?!" as if they didn't understand that a school can have more than like ten students.
At the end of the day though, they're happy if Yuu's happy. Just, expect lots of interrogations in the near future.

Y’all….that new Peter Pan and Wendy movie…looks bad.
Before everyone comes at me for being racist, lemme explain.
I have ABSOLUTELY ZERO problem with a POC Peter Pan. I have NO PROBLEM with a black Tinkerbell. I don’t mind a scraggly/hobo Captain Hook and I liked Ever Anderson from her role as Young Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow so not that my expectations for her are high, but I know that her acting can be pretty good for a kid. And as a POC myself, I’m all for representation.
But the track record for successful Disney remakes (of their animated movies) isn’t high. The remakes are kind of like this generation’s animated sequels from the 2000s. Some people really like the live-action remakes (just like there are some that love the animated sequels), but lots of people seem to hate/dislike them. I’m weird I guess..I like lots of the animated sequels but don’t like most of the remakes.
That’s one of my problems with this movie (at least from what has been shown so far). There isn’t anything new (besides designs/looks of the characters) introduced.
Personally, I really only enjoyed the Cinderella, Pete’s Dragon, and Jungle Book remakes (Maleficent/Cruella/Aladdin I thought was ok. Could’ve been better imo but definitely not as bad as some others). Cinderella, Pete’s Dragon and The Jungle Book remakes are the only ones I’ll actually rewatch.
I’ve seen most of the remakes (except for Pinocchio w/ Tom Hanks) and don’t like Lion King, Mulan, Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp, and Beauty and the Beast. I’d heard the Pinocchio remake was terrible so I just didn’t even bother.
I’m skeptical about The Little Mermaid remake (again, not because of a POC Ariel) but Melissa McCarthy has always been a fav of mine so I think I’ll see it (unlike Pinnochio. Guillermo Del Toro’s version on Netflix is so great and definitely superior).
But another problem I have with this new Peter Pan and Wendy movie is the color. Everything looked muted and not bright (even on Neverland). The Little Mermaid has this problem too. The lighting makes it look dark (yeah it’s deep in the ocean but even Finding Nemo did a better job w/ lighting). That’s the same thing with this Peter Pan remake. Everything looked a little saturated too, if that makes sense.
Now I wanna get to one of my main problems with this movie. The Lost Boys. I have NO PROBLEM with people identifying the way they want. Whatever makes you comfortable. But my problem was more with the delivery of the lines. Wendy looked over and said “wait, but you’re not all boys.” And one of the girls snaps back with a ‘so?!’
While I can’t exactly explain why I dislike that particular exchange, I just thought it didn’t sit well with me. I’m wondering because of the addition of girls that the way to become a ‘lost boy’ will change. In the book, Lost Boys were male babies that would fall out of their prams. I believe they said that only happened to boys because they weren’t as smart as girls or something (it’s been 20yrs so please correct me if I’m wrong).
I just don’t think we’ve seen enough at this point for it to be good. I’m really hoping that once other trailers are released, my opinion will change. I really think we just haven’t seen enough.
Also does the actress that plays Tiger Lily look a little too old? Idk I just thought she was supposed to be like a teen girl. The actress looks to be late 20s-early 30s maybe.
I’d also like to point out to those saying they hate the movie because there are girls that are Lost Boys. My problem was the delivery/acting of the lines, not that there are girls with the Lost Boys. Saying only boys are stupid enough to fall out of their prams is just untrue because that’s something that can happen to any baby. Plus those that say that Wendy being female is special because she’s a mother figure to the boys? Like do girls not deserve a mother figure too?? Disney has historically avoided mother/daughter relationships so this would be a great opportunity to switch it up.
And people have a problem with a black tinker bell like she isn’t some sort of made up magical creature. Like c’mon. Plus people saying Hook doesn’t look ‘hot’ anymore. Guys I don’t think he was ever supposed to be good looking. I’ve never seen any of the live action peter pans, but I know Jason Isaacs plays Cap Hook in one movie and yes, he’s good looking, but if I remember correctly, in the books, Hook used to be in the navy or something and eventually went crazy and started tracking down/hunting the kids. He’s supposed to look…like a hobo.
So yeah, in short, my problems are with the acting so far and the lighting/saturation. The effects look decent but again, I think I really need to see more footage and I hope my opinion will change cuz I really enjoyed the animated Peter Pan as a kid.

Disney Live Action Remakes
Not counting sequels and spin-offs, Disney had released 15 “live action” remakes of its animated films. I say “live action” because many of them have CGI characters; and movies like “Jungle Book” and “Lion King” is virtually 100% animated via CGI.
But let’s not kid ourselves, Disney isn’t doing this for “art” or to honor the originals. It’s all part of Disney’s plan to squeeze their IP (intellectual property) dry of whatever blood they had in them.
Although a few live action remakes were made in the 1990s, the remake-train got going with 2010’s Alice in Wonderland. Despite its Rotten Tomatoes score (51%) is still made $1 billion. This explains why the rest have been greenlit by Disney. (I thought Johnny Depp was awful.)
When they first started to be released, I saw many out of habit. But I’ve become more selective about what movies I go see. And some of the recent efforts (Pinocchio and Peter Pan & Wendy) were so terrible I gave up within a few minutes on Disney+.
Of the rest… I enjoyed Cinderella (2015) and Aladdin (2019). But I hated Maleficent (2014) the remake of Sleeping Beauty. A star vehicle for Angelina Jolie, it became a vanity project and was a disservice to all the other characters. And Lion King? What was the point? Nearly a shot for shot remake but with none of the fun.
The Little Mermaid has an early score of 70%. The good news is that despite all the hate Halle Bailey received when her casting was announce, it looks like she is a breakout star. I already have my ticket… I’m hopeful.
But Disney has at least 7 more “live action” remakes planned and I feeling especially doubtful about Bambi…

Chip And Dale Rescue Rangers Spoilers/Thoughts
As the title suggests, this contains major spoilers for the movie. Only proceed if you’ve either seen it or don’t care about being spoiled.
1. So the voices didn’t actually bother me. It helped, I think, that they started talking in the alternate voices pretty much straight away. Which I think helped separate it from ‘filming’.
2. CGI surgery? Must admit, that’s an interesting point. Also makes sense with evolution. I’d assume there must just be CGI toons as well, created more recently.
3. Ugly Sonic!? I thought he was cool and I liked that they made him relevant to the plot instead of a one-off gag.
4. The muppet toons were done really well. You’re never shown their legs, makes it more real.
5. The whole stinky cheese thing...wow. Answers the question of if there’s drugs or not in Toon universe. The way Chip initially tried to charm his way in...yeah, he may have lost some of his acting skills doing that insurance gig.
6. The throw away line about the Nicktoons. ‘The toons fought back’. People have pointed out this is against character for the toons, but I think it makes sense, albeit it in a dark way. The rugrats at least must be in their 30′s by now. [Aired in early 90′s] Its surely not unreasonable to assume they must have changed their personalities, and we don’t know what  happened. Maybe they only ‘fought back’ with pies. As for the Paw patrol dogs, my theory is that either it’s an exaggeration. [Which I don’t think would be unlikely if it happened last year and he was signed off work afterwards] or that it did happen and due to the fact they’re toon dogs they can’t be put down. Either that or the Police department were so mortified about the fact they messed up so completely they let all charges drop.
7. Toons on the wall that I noticed/knew, Jiminy Cricket, Flounder, Gus [Cinderella], The Tweedles, Sneezy, Garfield [There’s also a sign above Garfield that says foghorn. I’m assuming this is a reference to the Looney Tunes character?]
8. Toon body parts on the other side of the walls that I noticed. Jimmy Neutron’s hair, Cheshire Cats smile, Pink Panther mouth, a white glove that could belong to anyone [brings to mind Mickey Mouse, but I’m fairly sure it can’t be him], a smurfs hat, Sora’s hair + Mad Hatters hat.
9. Ellie...I’m going to be honest she seems quite a bland character. Not much is given to her. [This might be because apparently test audiences reacted negatively to her. Considering they also apparently reacted negatively to the original idea of Pluto being the villain, which led to them choosing the below instead [presumably] I’m not sure they were right.]
Also I think credit needs to be given to the actress for the fight scene she was in. She must have been working with thin air, which must be very difficult.
10.Toons I saw at the end [and recognised] Abu, Fred Flintstone, Patrick Star, Woody Woodpecker, Phineas Flynn, Dipper, Jiminy Cricket, Flounder, Cheshire Cat [Crossed with the tiger from Aladdin], Johnny Test, Kai [Jungle Book], a toon that looks like Obelix from ‘Asterix’ [Same pattern pants and same hair, but black], Gus [with a parrots beak], Gumball? [Amazing world of], Bambi, Sneezy, Woody [same clothes, green instead], Frog Tiana, One that looks like a care bear, but with a tail? [Purple],
11. Sweet Pete...now, I do know about Bobby Driscoll, but I must admit if I didn’t know the story [which I didn’t until it started making the rounds on Tumblr] I’d just think it was very clever. It’s clear toons do grow up mentally [and they must in some sort of chronological order as well seeing as the chipmunks start in 3rd grade] and as I’ve previously mentioned in another posts I think there’s other ways they could have gone with it if they were determined to have Peter Pan as the villain.
His voice works as well, seeing as Chip and Dale have completely different voices. I’d assume that Disney made the EPIC FAIL conclusion that no one would know/care about what happened to Bobby Driscoll. It’s the only thing that makes sense.
The bootlegged idea is interesting as well. It’s shame there wasn’t a team up between Chip and Dale and other family members of the other toons. [Sneezy, for instance, was bootlegged, so it would have been interesting to see the other dwarfs helping out.] The very least we see is that it’s a big story in the news.
I also like the way Peter gets his henchmen to do EVERYTHING. Even when he’s about two centimetres away from Chip and Dale himself, he still tells Jimmy to grab them when he could have just reached out himself.
He must have started the business before having his CGI operation, though, because in the parody ‘Flying Bedroom Boy’ you can see he has the stubble round his mouth. [Another good detail]
He’s also ‘The chessmaster’ I think. Look at his expression when Putty’s telling his story. He knows he’s lying but he’s just waiting for Ellie to realise that.
If the whole thing didn’t parallel Bobby Driscoll so much it would have been a really clever take.
12. Finally, on a lighter note...we want Darkwing, we want Darkwing! Loved it, so in-character.

okay i’m gonna try this
disney movies ranked arbitrarily based on my selective memory, bias, and other petty reasons <3 the rules are pretty simple— each movie gets a point for every song i like, no points for songs i don’t care about/skip, and negative points for songs i hate <3 im excluding anything live action and anything outside of the main animation studio, so no pixar, no dreamworks, and no sequels, and no enchanted, mary poppins, and definitely no into the woods. otherwise i’d never stop talking. some of this will be repeated from the categorized post i just made but it’s a different sorting system because i love sorting systems
if these movies have songs i cannot tell you what they are— dumbo, fox and hound, black cauldron, oliver, rescuers down under, great mouse detective, bambi, atlantis, raya and the last dragon, strange world, king arthur, three cabelleros, brother bear, anything else i can’t even think of right now (score: 0)
they’re not really musicals but there is at least one major bop: robin hood (the “oodilalee oodilalee golly what a day” song is cute), lilo and stitch (hawaiian roller coaster ride), 101 dalmatians (cruella de ville is so funny), aristocats (everybody wants to be a cat), lady and the tramp (bella note is nice and he’s a tramp is funny), alice in wonderland (happy unbirthday is cute) sleeping beauty (once upon a dream is pretty, i like how it incorporates the melody from the ballet) (score: 1)
pinochio: i guess wish upon a star is from pinochio, i thought it was in peter pan at first oops, actually i do think there are other songs i do hate but i can’t remember them well enough, which works in this movies favor (score 0.5)
the empowers new groove: the only one i can think of is yzma’s song, which was cut so (score: 0)
song of the south: i’ve never seen this nor do i want to but i do remember when ally and an covered zipidee doo dah (score: 0)
peter pan: i actually like “you can fly” but this point is revoked for the racist tiger lily song (score: 0)
jungle book: bare necessities is a cute proto hakuna matata, but i don’t like monkeys (score: 0)
fantasia: none of the characters are singing, all the music isn’t even original, but there is some impressive animation (score: 0.5)
tarzan: i don’t think phil collins did a BAD job, but compared to disney musicals where characters sing their own songs, these all sound kinda same-y. (0.5 for strangers like me, which is, okay, pretty good)
the princess and the frog: i only really remember “almost there” and “friends on the other side” but those are both great songs (score: 2)
snow white: “hi ho” isn’t as good as other fun and games songs imo, but it is memorable, “someday my prince will come” is nice enough (score: 1.5 i guess)
aladdin: one jump ahead, friend like me, and prince ali are so energetic and fun, and a whole new world is really lovely. -1 for the original arabian nights being so racist they had to change a line. (score: 3)
the little mermaid: i really love “part of your world” and “poor unfortunate souls” so so much. “kiss the girl” is cute, sure. “under the sea” is a little over rated but i can’t say it’s not good. “les poissons” is funny but not enough to get points (score: 3.5 i guess)
hunchback of notre dame: hellfire, god help the outcasts, and bells notre dame are so good. topsy turvy is not bad enough to lose points. (score: 3)
pochahontas: i liked this one as a kid because of ~nature~ and because pochahontas gets two solos. i like “just around the river bend” and “colors of the wind” even if they are kinda similar. loses a point for both sides-ing colonialism in “savages” (score: 1)
mulan: “reflection” is beautiful and emotional, “honor to us all” introduces is a great ensemble piece, “i’ll make a man out of you” is a great hype song, “a girl worth fighting for” is fine. this gets a bonus point for having a song in the sequel, “like other girls”, that was SO memorable i thought it was in the original (score: 4)
cinderella: “a dream is a wish your heart makes” is sweet, “so this is love” is pretty, and “bippiy boppity boo” is cute. there’s another song where the mice are like “cinderell-y cinderell-y” but idk which one. i still like rogers and hammerstein better. (score: 3)
tangled: i like repunzels i want song, gothels villain song, and the romantic duet. the fun and games song is okay (score: 3)
frozen: i like the snowman song, let it go is pretty good despite how over played it was, love is an open door is funny, and that song elsa and anna sing before the coronation that i can never remember the name of. the troll song is annoying, but not SO bad i want to take away a point for it. however, the reindeer song and “in summer” are annoying enough to take away points sorry (score: 2)
moana: i like how the melody from “how far i’ll go” recurs in the climactic song “i am moana”, and “your welcome” is a lot of fun. shiny is okay. (score: 3)
encanto: i like meet the madrigals as an intro song, surface pressure and bruno are pretty good, and i think i liked isabella’s song but i can’t remember the actual song (score: 3 i guess)
the lion king: “circle of life” is cinematic, i “hakuna matata” and “i just can’t wait to be king” are fun, and “be prepared” admittedly goes really hard. “can you feel the love tonight” is different because it isn’t sung by the characters, but it’s fine i guess. i’d really love to see the broadway adaptation for the costume designs alone. (score: 4)
hercules: the aesthetics really are the strength of this movie. i already mentioned i love the idea of using a gospel chorus for a movie about green gods, the muses are so fun. “gospel chorus” and its all its reprises are the best exposition i’ve ever heard. “go the distance” is lovely, chiron’s training montage song is fun, “zero to hero” is even more fun, “won’t say i’m in love” is my faaaavorite! (score: 5)
beauty and the beast: i am more than a little biased, but this soundtrack simply does not miss. “belle” and “belle reprise” i’ll count as one song, but i think it’s a really cool to put belle’s i want song in contrast with the world she lives in. “gaston” is a fun and games song for the villain, while setting up the mob mentality for the “mob song”, “be our guest” is a stellar piece of animation/choreography, “human again” isn’t even IN the original movie, but i think it’s nice to see the castle staff confiding in each other, and it’s a a waltz! yay! i actually didn’t realize it was only in the extended edition until like. three weeks ago. i never understand why sometimes it was in the movie and sometimes it wasn’t. anyway! “something there” is less a love song and more of a falling in love song, which i think is really nice, i love how belle and the beast have little asides about their new feelings, and how the castle staff gossips about them. and then “beauty and the beast (tale as old as time)” is just really really lovely sonically, lyrically, and animation wise. it’s unusual for the love songs because it’s not sung by either of the characters or any sort of narrator but a side character, but mrs potts is great, i love the well meaning nosiness of the castle staff, love angela lansbury, but i have to say, i do like how belle and the beast reprised this in the 30th anniversary edition they just did. and of the songs they added to the broadway musical, i really like “home” and “if i can’t love her” and the rest i like well enough, they all add something at least. “prologue” is the only song i don’t give points to because it’s spoken rather than sung, but the musical motifs are quite lovely, and i love the storybook feel (tangentially— according to google, the broadway version of “mob song” changes the key from f major to a minor… what’s up with that? does that happen a lot? i just think it’s interesting) (another random note, i vaguely remember bernadette peters little angel character for the christmas sequel but i don’t remember any actual songs) EDIT: i almost forgot but i wanted to add a note about how beauty and the beast includes the ensemble in nearly every song, beauty and the beast, the only true solo, is a love song sung by a character outside of the love story. i think it’s really cool and makes the world seem more filled out (score: 6)

Anonymous asked:
What are your favorite [and least favorite] Disney movies?
Tumblr media
Ahhhh you want me to get in trouble. :B My favorite Disney movies tend to skew more on the Golden and Silver Age, but I make an exception for Aladdin. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio are locked in for the top two spots. You really can’t move them for me. But I also love 101 Dalmatians, Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, and Encanto. Lilo and Stitch is also there somewhere. Cinderella is great. Jungle Book is great. It’s easier to just ask me what Disney movies I don’t like. That would be Frozen. I tried so hard to watch it and understand it. I couldn’t. I tried. I really did. I gave up after five times of really focusing on the movie. It just didn’t work out. It just made me more angry. I am so sorry if you like it. I tried, I swear. It’s not a movie I can talk about. T_T

"Big Hero 6" (2014)
If “Frozen” is an ode to the bond between sisters, then that’s what “Big Hero 6” is to the bond between brothers. And it works! It really works well, and it’s one of the best non-musicals ever made by the Disney animated studio.
What’s most impressive to me is how quickly you accept and love the bond between Hiro and Tadashi. They don’t need to get into the specifics of how they lost their parents, how Tadashi pulled himself together to help support his younger brother, or how Tadashi got into robotics in the first place. There’s a reason why “Show, don’t tell” is such a time-tested formula for the best movies. Just like Hiro, the audience is sent reeling when Tadashi is suddenly killed in the explosion at the university. It’s not just through Hiro though; by smartly weaving in their aunt and all of Tadashi’s friends at school, you understand what he meant to them, too. None of these scenes are long! By making Hiro the audience surrogate in meeting the gang, they get to be both introductory and effective.
The same goes for Baymax. I entered this movie knowing essentially nothing about “Big Hero 6” aside from Baymax being the most memorable character. Like the friends at school, Tadashi introduces Hiro to Baymax early on, and it’s not until after Tadashi’s death that Baymax really enters the plot. He becomes a brother of sorts to Hiro, too, both a guardian through his medical skill, counseling, and ability, and a younger brother through Hiro teaching him about what we knows about the world. But Baymax saves Hiro from his worst, most angry tendencies by bringing Tadashi back into the story in his own way.
“You’re gonna help so many people, buddy. So many." - Tadashi to Baymax
Tumblr media
All the voice actors are on top of their game, but there’s such a simple, funny, sweet tone that “30 Rock” legend Scott Adsit lends to Baymax. And just like Tadashi (a superb Daniel Henney), it’s gutting when the original Baymax has to goodbye. The cause in his sacrifice is at least worthy, and it’s a mark of Hiro growing up that he sadly accepts Baymax’s commitment to get both him and the professor’s lost daughter home. (By the way: San Fransokyo? A+, no notes.)
The animation’s amazing, the side characters do their job of providing heart and humor without taking over the overriding narrative, and even with villains, you sort of understand their frustrations. Well, not so much the idiot tech venture capitalist guy, but, well, there are plenty of those out there in the world, too. It’s not restricted to the fictional San Fransokyo, unfortunately.
I don’t really have a good reason for keeping “Big Hero 6” down at 10th because I honestly enjoyed it about as much as any Disney movie. It’s 5/5, 10/10, whatever you want to call it. I think deep down, I just love the musicals more, and “Wreck-It Ralph” just plunges right into the depths of my long-ago gaming soul. I would recommend this to anyone though. It somehow strikes the balance of not taking itself too seriously while also being sincere and touching.
I am satisfied with my care.

Swynrpwrimo 2023 - Task #30 - part 2
SWYNRP Character Wishlist: A list of 10+ characters you’d like to see in the RP - Characters Mak wants to play edition
I need y’all to pick some of these characters up before I do pls
[tracker]
1. Lyria from Tinkerbell Fairies franchise with a Jodie Whittaker FC
So my idea for her is nothing like her skeleton but!!!! I love it so much!!!! Her app has been DONE for over two years!!!! I just need to find the right time get her.
Tumblr media
2. Aphrodite from Hercules with an Anitta FC
So honestly this character is so well formed in my head. She’s from Avalor (our first Lusophone Avaloran, the rest are primarily Spanish-speakers), she was a Pachamama rebel fighter against the dictatorship before coming to Swynlake, and before the civil war was an actress and pop star! Her name is legit Afrodite bc that’s the Portuguese spelling of Aphrodite. I just wanna iron out a few things in her story before I get her.
Tumblr media
3. Imelda Rivera from Coco possibly with a Coty Camacho FC
But I’d really want a Hector if I did so. But UGH I have an idea for herrrrr. She’s honestly such a Mak character
Tumblr media
4. Vee Hauntley with a Chloe Hayden FC
And if I HC Vee is my immortal autistic honey like this awesome gorgeous smiley autistic FC? What of it?
Tumblr media
5. Fairy Gary possible FCs include: Gao Weiguang, Ryan Gosling, Omar Metwally, , Ian Anthony Dale, Michiel Huisman
I think this would be SUCH a neat opportunity to play with the fairy lore we have regarding the family and how the one big family no-no is having children outside of your Promise. But I'd LOVE to play him with the character who is his illegitimate half-fairy half-human child around, and potentially with a character that's either his Actual wife and/or one that's his legitimate child bc THE DRAMAAAAA Y'ALL. Can be any characters already fairies or we can make characters fairies that aren't already! So if aaaaaanybody is at all interested in this plot, hit me up!!! Let's plot it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Lady Rebekah Alhadeff from Elena of Avalor with a Joséphine Jobert FC
Look. I’m just a slut for Avalor, okay.
7. Rama from The Jungle Book with a Sendhil Ramamurthy FC or a Sidharth Malhotra FC depending on how old I made him
Okay so those of y’all around forever ago may remember when Kiara was here, I had Rama and Raksha with her. But tbh…I feel like that time around I came in at the middle of their story and I’d LOVE to take another crack at them from the start with someone! As either Rama OR Raksha! So I’m giving my top FC idea for both
8. Raksha from The Jungle Book with a Kriti Sanon FC possibly
See above.
9. Jasmine from Aladdin possibly with a Yasmine Al-Bustami FC?
I’m trash for worldbuilding! I created Avalor I’d get to create Agrabah! Eeeee!
Tumblr media
10. Ember Lumen possible FC include: Song Yuqi, Zhao Lusi, Sun Zhenni, Pat Chayanit Chansangavej, Imada Mio, Uchinaga Aeri (Giselle), Komatsu Nana, Mint Ranchrawee, Prilly Latuconsina, Lee Sung-kyung, Kim Yong-ji
But I'd want at least one of her parents maybe too :3

What's your favorite movie? -🧁Anon
Difficult question! I have quite a few across a lot of genres, mainly animated films, horror, romance, among others, but I think I’ll focus on specifically Disney movies to at least keep this concise and sort of together hehe. I love a LOT of Disney movies, especially the classics, so this is gonna be a bit of a difficult question to answer.
The Hunchback of Notredame, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, Sleeping Beauty, Tangled, and The Lion King take the cake for most rewatched on my end. I just love them so much??? I relate with a lot of Disney protagonists, but especially the protagonists in at the very least MOST of these. Especially Quasi, Ariel, Belle, Rapunzel, and Herc! We have… similar experiences? Motives? Difficult to really explain in detail hehe. Aurora is also someone I identify with but for different reasons in comparison to the previous four (mainly sleeping habits honestly, but to the extreme.)
The Lion King was my first favorite though, and is one I hold close to my heart, so I think I can say that one is my favorite movie?
They also have like, the best villains by the way. Another thing I’m honestly so in love with when it comes to these movies. Scar is my favorite in this regard, if you’re curious. Also??? The music??? Hello??? Bangers, all of the songs are bangers.
Special mentions: Cinderella (but specifically Cinderella III, but the other two are okay also), Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, Aladdin, and 101 Dalmatians.
Some non-Disney movies in the tag ig~ What movies do you like? :)

Bit of a controversial question, but…
For this poll, I’ve only chosen the remakes that are the most liked by fans (because I know that the Aladdin and TLM remakes do have a sizable fan following, despite critical reception).

Favorite Disney Songs Tag Meme
Rules: List your favorite song from every film in the Disney Animated Conon and tag at least one person. Parts of the score and deleted songs are allowed so long as they're included on the film's soundtrack album. Two-way ties are also allowed. Feel free to leave blanks if you haven't seen every movie in the canon, haven't listened to the soundtrack(s) recently, or are undecided. Try to complete the list, but don't force yourself. Be honest. Get creative. Have fun! 😉
Notes: This tag meme was inspired by a YouTube playlist I made. It has all the songs I listed below, some runners-up, and more. I've been feeling down lately, so I'm writing this to spark positivity in myself and others the best way I know how. Hopefully, it works!
Entries with forward slashes are not separate songs. They are distinct parts of one long track on the albums they come from. (My pick for "Hunchback" is an easy example.)

Reviewing *Disney Dreamlight Valley*
Tumblr media
Magical: 🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄
Beautiful: 💎💎💎💎
Dream Come True: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
What’s the difference between DisneyLand Adventures, Disney Magical World, and Disney Dreamlight Valley?
More later
⚠️ In My Opinion may contain spoilers
❌ Jump button
✅ Interactions
❌ Swim actions
In my opinion…
So far, the game is awesome. Making friends with all Disney characters, exploring, creativity! 😁
The map is sure handy when you’re looking for where to go, AND to find your Disney friends.
I hope we’ll see more Disney characters, cook/bake more treats, and new stuff to do in the future. 👍
What more could you want?
💡 To me, I’d like my playable character to have a jump button in the game, as well as swimming.
💡 More character interactions like… dancing, giving hugs, and joking around. And maybe more interactions with furnitures and items.
💡 More awesome cutscenes
💡 Mini games!
💡 Could our avatars have a voice to choose before starting a game too?
💡 Could we have the Dreamlight Magnifier included as a tool?
💡 Creatures to ride on
💡 More to explore in Dreamlight Valley
Sept. 10, 2022
So far, the part of the second riddle inside the cave didn’t seem to reset yet when I didn’t answer correctly. 🙁
Update: (Hey, GetACluu! How about something called ‘digging a hole’?) DUH!
Sept. 11, 2022
A word of advice: Save at least 5 or 10 dream shards and night shards each. Because if Merlin sends you to investigate the giant tree in the Glade of Trust, there won’t be turning back once you get close to that tree, and it’ll prevent your Disney friends from exiting their houses, until you can find more dream shards and night shards.
Sept. 18, 2022
You might need to save up a lot of mushrooms for Merlin’s quests. Trust me on that.
Sept. 26, 2022
Note to self: when receiving a memory orb after talking to a character, make sure it’s far from the furniture to reach it. 🤦
Nov. 13, 2022
I didn’t have the time to type the idea, but I’m typing it right now! Make tons of chests for items you collect, and use them to save items for when you need them!

Who Jack Could be Twisted From
I’ve been wondering for a while about who Jack might be twisted from. There are no wolves within The Lion King which is the movie Savannaclaw is based on but Jack is Savannaclaw’s first year representative. Because of this I thought it would be interesting to do some digging and see who, exactly, he might be twisted from. I’m just going to be looking at lupine characters for this and I explain why below. The only reason it isn’t up here is for fear of spoiling the parts of the story for others. This analysis/theory will be under the cut for fear of potential spoilers regarding Jack’s signature spell and parts of his backstory. Fair warning, this is kinda long with my personal bet for Jack’s inspiration at the bottom.
Before we go any further I would like to mention that it is true that based on his design and name Jack doesn’t have to be a wolf, other dogs howl and have lupine qualities. However,  his signature spell turns him into a giant wolf (so says his fandom wiki page and I’m not going to argue with that). Plus, I’ll be perfectly honest, doing this with just wolves makes this a lot easier for me.
#1. The first wolf of interest I found was the Big Bad Wolf who has appeared in several animations including a 1933 Silly Symphony called “The Three Little Pigs” and a 1934 Silly Symphony called “The Big Bad Wolf” which tells the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Notably, he dresses up as a mermaid to try and trick one of the three little pigs in yet another Silly Symphony. This character stuck out to me largely because of how famous of a villain he is. Most people have heard of the Big Bad Wolf.  That said, there just isn’t much about the Big Bad Wolf which makes him a rather poor option for who Jack may be twisted from. Design wise the Big Bad Wolf has very little in common with Jack, in fact it’s really just the lupine nature that they share. The Big Bad Wolf’s mermaid gig does create an interesting connection to how Jack helps the player in the Octavinelle chapter but that is a rather flimsy connection. Interestingly, The Big Bad Wolf does have a son. Li’l Bad Wolf is, despite his name, a surprisingly good character that is constantly trying to save his friends, the three little pigs, from his dad. This does, admittedly, remind me of Jack helping us out in the Savannaclaw chapter but it is, once again, a rather flimsy connection. However, keeping that train of thought, the three little pig’s characters could be cited as proof as well. Two of the pigs are carefree and do no work while the third pig is more diligent which does kind of line up with Ace and Deuce versus MC in the Octavinelle chapter but does not account for Grim. During Beanfest Azul quotes the Little Red Riding Hood tale, saying something along the lines of “My what large teeth you have” to Jack. However, this isn’t necessarily evidence either since Azul is likely just mocking Jack. If the Big Bad Wolf is the inspiration for Jack I would imagine that he was combined with the Li’l Bad Wolf to make a bit nicer of a character for the first year squad. That said I highly doubt the Big Bad Wolf is Jack's inspiration.
#2. Some more famous Disney wolves would be the members of the Seeonee wolf pack in The Jungle Book. Unfortunately none of these wolves are villains though, so I really don’t think they are inspirations for Jack. After all, Jack doesn’t have light magic like Rook and Kalim who are twisted from more heroic characters (the huntsman from Snow White and the sultan from Aladdin respectively).
#3. A villainous wolf character from some more well-known Disney is The Sheriff of Nottingham from Robin Hood. While The Sheriff does describe himself as honorable and Jack himself does have quite the sense of justice these two differ quite a bit. The Sheriff is immoral and hypocritical at best. He is shown to be at least mildly clever but he is also quite overweight (likely to show off his wealth at odds with the poor citizens of Nottingham). Jack, on the other hand, is incredibly moral, fairly intelligent (A shared trait!), and in incredible shape. This would be an honestly amusing choice since The Sheriff is a wolf who serves under Prince John, a lion. Sort of like how Jack is under Leona, who is his Housewarden. While The Sheriff is loyal to a degree he also isn’t above dragging Prince John’s name through the mud which could mirror the fact that Jack respects Leona but will go against him. Jack and The Sheriff’s designs are quite different, in fact the only shared qualities they possess are yellow eyes and lupine characteristics. Jack’s hair/fur is white and gray while the Sheriff’s is just gray. Despite these few similarities and as amusing as it would be I really don’t think Jack is based on The Sheriff.
#4. Last one and I’ve seen other people theorize that this one is Jack’s inspiration! In Beauty and the Beast there’s a pack of wolves. These wolves don’t really have much in the way of character or anything that defines them as definitely good or evil. They are only shown to be hungry which leads to them attacking Maurice, Belle, and Beast. This lack of definitive villainy could explain why Jack is nowhere near as villainous as some of his peers but still lacks the light magic shared by characters based on traditional good-guy characters. These wolves do have yellow eyes and their fur has some rather distinctive white and gray coloring that is a lot like Jack’s hair/fur. Bonus points for this wolf pack since Jack grew up and is friends with Vil which gives off a platonic Beauty and the Beast vibe. Vil is a bit of a beauty if you will and Jack is viewed as more beast-like due to his signature spell’s effects. Speaking of Jack’s signature spell, the name of it, “Unleash the Beast,” goes well with the themes of Beauty and the Beast and would make for a very cute tie-in if he is based on these wolves. I for one think these wolves are the most likely option for Jack’s inspiration. They come from an incredibly popular movie and match Jack surprisingly well considering their overall lack of character.

Let me open this up by saying that I am the last person to defend Disney. I criticize it whenever it does something bad. That being said, with Turning Red, I’ve seen the “Disney stop turning your POC into animals!” complain come up repeatedly and I just...
There are a plethora of valid reasons to criticize Disney for; this is not one of them. For multiple reasons, so bear with me as I go through them.
For one, it generalizes something that’s a non-issue. Because for something to qualify as an issue it ought to have at least some traction. Saying it like this makes it sound like all, or at least most, POC led animated Disney movies turn their leads into animals and that is just not the case. Generalizing like this just talks over all the POC led animated Disney movies that don’t do that, it dismisses and dimishes them.
And since I like lists and I feel like some people need a reminder, here is a complete list of all POC led animated Disney movies, all the ones where the lead turns into an animal are marked bold:
The Jungle Book (1967)
Aladdin (1992)
Aladdin 2 (1994)
Pocahontas (1995)
Aladdin 3 (1996)
Mulan (1998)
Pocahontas 2 (1998)
The Emperor’s New Groove (2000)
Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)
Lilo & Stitch (2002)
The Jungle Book 2 (2003)
Atlantis 2 (2003)
Stitch! The Movie (2003)
Brother Bear (2003)
Mulan 2 (2004)
Lilo & Stitch 2 (2005)
Kronk’s New Groove (2005)
Leroy & Stitch (2006)
Brother Bear 2 (2006)
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Big Hero 6 (2015)
Moana (2016)
Coco (2017)
Soul (2020)
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Encanto (2021)
Turning Red (2022)
That is 5/27 movies. And yes, I am absolutely counting sequels too, because they are still also POC led animated movies. But even if for some reason you were to discount them, that’d still be 4/16. That’s not even remotely a high enough percentage to talk about a concerning pattern and they are spaced out enough that you also can’t say that it is a currently coming up pattern because yes, 5/27 would be concerning if said 5 were all the most recent ones.
There are thirteen years and six different POC led movies between this one and the last one. Thirteen years is an entire generation; and I do mean literally, because someone who was a preteen/early teen when Princess and the Frog came out would now be old enough to watch Turning Red with their own young child. Thirteen years are indeed a long enough time between two things that you can repeat a trope.
Which brings us to the final point: Turning into animals is an incredibly popular trope. Disney banks on fairy tale and folktale adaptations and fairy tale-esque stories.
It is so popular that I know five different fairy tales - not variations of the same story, but actual different stories - about people turning into frogs. Just frogs. Five. Because turning people into animals is a concept humans have always been obsessed with, a theme that can be found in most cultures, in mythology as well as fairy tales and folktales.
Disney is going to keep making movies about people turning into animals, because it’s a huge trope. It bothers you that they’re POC led, so... would you rather they make these movies with a white lead instead? Because these movies will keep happening.
This generalization irritates me because it diminishes all of the really amazing POC led animated movies Disney has made at this point. Yes, Disney’s not perfect, I am sure that Disney’s representation of POC isn’t perfect, but Coco ist the best Pixar movie in existence and Big Hero 6 and Moana were absolutely awesome, just to stay within the thirteen years separating this from the last movie that turns a POC lead into an animal. These movies don’t deserve to be treated like they don’t count just so you can be upset about a trope being used in a movie...
