Hahaha im not sure where else to put it but since you're the dye expert for BG3 i feel like you might share a similar sentiment

isnt it frustrating how so many of the items, you due them, lets say you dye them blue and it turns out yellow with like a blue element??

that being said, you are doing the gods work and helping us avoid such surprises AND help us find hidden color themes hidden under a different name, thank you!

YUP 😭 pretty sure everyone here shares the same sentiment lol, imo deep lilac (aka ORANGE) and sea green (VERY BLUE) are the worst offenders.

but like at this point I would rather they not change it because imagine if we had to redo/edit all of these charts 🫠

#Shadowheart #shadow queen #it’s the gorgeous maroon dye btw. that’s my favorite due to put her in.#(her circlet. gloves. boots. and cape were also dyed)#I like doing faewild Green and dun dye for Lae’zel (though sometimes it does look funky so like it’s a 50/50 chance it looks good or bqd #but it does look really good on ketheric’s armor #and Gale gets boreal blue #since most of the purple dyes in game can look kinda off #I just do sage green for Jaheria #wyll gets lush burgundy (he looks really good in the dyed Armor of Persistence. PadLock all the way)#karlach gets black and furnace red (i didn’t know what else to put her in tbh)#and I can never think of anything for Astarion so he just automatically always gets sinful red on bone white #minthara gets dark amethyst #I don’t care what Minsc wears so long as he looks himbo #and I genuinely don’t know what to put halsin in ever #he’s in his starting gear 24/7 #Kane gets literally anything red #and Joyce also gets sage green because complimentary colors #and most of the time sage green is calm enough to not make him look Christmas colored #I also switched him to chili tone 4 instead of red tone 4 to help calm the colors #also I just like the chili tones more since they feel like plastic #i don’t personally like the trans flag colors but I repspect the flag and am apart of the nation #god bless our troops (trans Shadowheart)

I can tell this playthrough is my favorite because I just spent 30 minutes buying dye for everyone's armor based on what I think they'd like to celebrate finishing all their personal quests. An in character shopping trip where my Tav was like, "We've come so far, and we need to look good for the ending! Everyone's getting new drip, my treat!"

Whereas last time, I didn't care about outfit cohesion in the slightest.

Anyway I'll be ranting in the tags about my choices if anyone cares.

#baldur's gate 3 #bg3 #OK SO RAMBLING INCOMING #Shadowheart got custard and pink rose because she was tired of purple and black #and i thought something bright and fun would suit her #Karlach got boreal blue because blue looks good on her and she totally knows it #that one was mostly personal preference tbh #Astarion got lush burgundy because its described as being worn by wealthy people #and he has an image to maintain so of course #Wyll got faewild green and dun because he spends a lot of time in the wilderness #and it may or may not be a subtle message from my archfey warlock #Gale has dark amethyst because the man likes purple and looks stunning in it #Lae'zel got sinful red on bone white and i dont think that needs explaining #and my Tav Talice has peach and apricot because its a gorgeous color combo and i liked it #Halsin Jaheira and Minsc didnt get anything because they look fine as is #and also tbh they aren't part of my Squad #i love them all dearly but they're like the overworked parents and uncle for the crew #this was a Kids Only shopping trip

#I tend to give Gale blue/purples and Wyll red/golds….#the sweet lads deserve distinct color schemes and pretty dyes #Astarion I gave SPECIFICALLY the sinful white/red dye or whatever it's called last go-round #Shadowheart... vibrant white and purple after You Know.#I never got around to getting Minsc a specific color combo because I rarely took him out. but Jaheira got a rare green of some sort #I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of putting Lae'zel in ketheric's armor now due to the Gifsets but I tended to upgrade her with #better githyanki style armor and leave it as is.. for roleplaying purposes....#and Karlach. me: ok I'll progress my BG3 playthrough a bit so I can finish the game this weekend

also me: plays dress-up with Harv and Astarion for like an hour

#in my defense i found camp clothes that I can finally say #that look equally as nice on Astarion as his default white shirt #(the one outfit that looks a bit like his default armor)#but the dyes are killing me #three kinds of purple and i don't fancy any each one #burgundy is spiffy but Harv is in greenish outfit so they look like Christmas ornaments next to each other :I #i mean the black/white option on Astarion is fine but I'd love to see him in something less sad?#the blue option isn't bad either but it's not his color tbh #anything in white and red reminds me of a clown outfit no matter how fancy #this is the only game I used the dress up feature this much #ughhh #knowing myself he'll end up in his old shirt for the epilogue #oh well i do love that old-fashioned shirt #Harv on the other hand is rocking one outfit and dye I tried out early in act 3 #i tried to mix things up a bit but he ends up wearing it again after a while #¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Elf Lore in the Forgotten Realms for BG3 Players who are Unfamiliar

I've been seeing some...uninformed takes lately about certain elf characters from BG3, so let me just throw some stuff out there for y'all to consider.

Elves in FR live to be about 750.

They physically mature at roughly the same rate as humans i.e. 18-20.

Culturally, elves don't consider other elves emotionally mature i.e. adults until the age of 100, at which point they may choose an adult name to go by.

What does this mean, logically? Well, consider their very long lifespan. If you are going to live 750 years, your perspective on wisdom is going to be quite different from a human's. While 60 years might be plenty mature for a human, for an elf, that means you still haven't had enough time to watch all of your shorter lived friends pass, which I imagine is something of an emotional milestone for elves.

Halsin is 350. This means he's just hitting middle-age.

Astarion is 239 (Idle Champions claims he's 350, but I call bullshit because his birth and death dates are literally in BG3 and also IC frequently gives the characters bullshit ages, like they say Jaheira is 36, which couldn't have been true even during BG1). He died at 39, which is quite young, but he had the same emotional maturity as a human 39 year old at the time, so he's not Like That because he's undeveloped. He's Like That because he's a snapshot of a privileged young nobleman who then spent 200 years being used and abused by the worst sort of person imaginable. He wasn't a full adult by elven standards, though, and I'm sure there's lots of elven rites of passage he didn't get to experience because he was dead.

BG3 does not mechanically distinguish between sun elves and moon elves and simply puts them all under the high elf umbrella, but they are very much a thing in the lore and have distinct appearances, cultures, and histories.

Moon elves tend to have black, blue, or silver-white hair and have pale skin, sometimes with a bluish hue. Their eyes are usually blue or green, sometimes with gold flecks.

Sun elves tend to have blond, black, or red hair and brown skin tones. Their eyes are usually green, gold, black, copper, silver, or hazel.

Based on his appearance, Astarion is probably a moon elf, and it's likely his original eye colour was either blue or green.

There are many other types of elves than those that are playable in the BG3, such as sea elves, winged elves, star elves, wild elves, and lythari.

It's possible that Shadowheart's father is lythari, because lythari are lycanthropic elves.
