Super satisfied with the shapes and colors in this piece. It's a particularly elusive feline species: the asian golden cat.

Phylogenetic wild cat tournament
Bay cat lineage
Genus: Catopuma - Final
Depth: 8 (7 wins away from championship)
Only two species in this genus, so the first match is also the final.
The bay cat is far the more rare of the two, and it has a unusual bright orange coloration; the asian golden cat can be orange too, but its exact shade can change between reddish brown to buff brown, along with melanistic and spotted variants.

Asian golden cat (Catopuma temminckii). Native to Southeast Asia, China and the northeastern Indian subcontinent.
The species' fur colour can vary from ginger, red, brown, black to grey.
They are also known as fire cats or fire tigers in Thailand.
Depending on the fur colour, they are known as yellow leopards, rock cats, sesame leopards (spotted) or inky leopards (black) in China.
“In 2008, the IUCN classified Asian golden cats as Near Threatened, stating that the species comes close to qualifying as Vulnerable due to hunting pressure and habitat loss, since Southeast Asian forests are undergoing the world's fastest regional deforestation.”

Creature Awaits #173
Each week I plan to feature an amazing creature, admiring God's fantastic artistry. Hopefully it’ll brighten someone’s day to see something new and interesting if they haven’t seen it before. : )

The Asian Golden Cat
A.K.A: Temminck's Cat, The Asiatic Golden Cat
Scientific Name: Catopuma temminckii
Region: Scattered areas from central China and eastern India southward through northwestern Indonesia
Size: About 22" (56cm) tall at the shoulder and 26"–41" (66cm–105cm) long from head to tail, with a 16"–22" (40cm–57 cm) long tail
Interesting Notes: A skilled hunter, Asian Golden Cats are able to take down prey several times larger than themselves, such as water buffalo calves, but usually hunt rabbits, rodents, reptiles, birds and small deer. Sadly, this species has become near-endangered due to vast deforestation and poaching.
