“This feels weird.”
“How does it feel weird?” Luke asks, amused.
“We’re just… sitting here,” you say.
“Is that a problem?”
Your head rests on Luke’s chest as you lay in your bed together, one of his arms curled protectively around you as he keeps the other behind his head. Every so often, he trails his fingers down your arm, plays with your hair a bit, adjusts his position to make you more comfortable.
You can feel the warmth of his skin even through his camp shirt, and it makes up for the slight chill of the Athena cabin. He’s basically your own personal space heater. You wouldn’t classify any of this as a problem.
“No,” you say. “The opposite of a problem.”
Luke chuckles, and you can feel his eyes on you. “Then why does it feel weird?”
You let out a huff and sit up, turning to face your boyfriend. “Because we’re just sitting here.”
“You’ve already said that, babe.” He smiles, and you have the urge to kiss him right there. You wonder if he knows the power he holds with that damn smile.
“It’s too quiet,” you say, gesturing around your cabin. “It’s never a good sign when things are quiet.”
“Could that be because more than half of your cabin is gone?” he asks.
“My siblings are smart,” you say. “They’re good at causing chaos in silence.”
“And if they are, that’s a problem for another day.”
“I’m still forgetting something,” you insist. “Are you sure I’m off the clock for today?”
Luke nods. “All the counselors get the day off from leading lessons after the last day of summer. Everyone’s off the clock.”
“And I don’t have anything I need to clear with Chiron.”
“You had the conversation with him about going into the city to get stuff for Jane’s party last week, and we’re taking a van out in two days,” Luke says. “Nothing else I know of.”
“You’re sure?”
“Positive.”
“There’s really nothing else?”
“Nothing,” he promises.
You look around your cabin and shake your head. “No. No— this place is a mess. I’ve got to clean up before inspections—”
Luke catches your wrist as you try to get up and says your name softly. “Your cabin is spotless, ace. I think I can see my reflection in the floorboards.”
“Still, Luke,” you insist as you look at him. “There’s got to be something we should be doing.”
“There isn’t!” he exclaims. “I’ve never met anyone more desperate to be doing busy work, babe. All that talk about us getting some alone time for nothing.”
“I just have this feeling that I’m missing something,” you say as you shake your head.
Luke laughs again, and you find yourself smiling just at the sound. He’s just so beautiful when he’s happy. “Alright, ace. Want me to ease your worries?”
“You can try,” you say. “But you’ve spent enough time with Annabeth to know what she’s capable of. Imagine dealing with a whole cabin of Annabeths.”
“You may have a whole cabin of Annabeths, but I’ve got a whole cabin of thieves, pranksters, and unclaimed kids. I think I’ve had my fair share of cleaning up messes.”
“Alright, pretty boy,” you say, your smile growing despite yourself. “Ease my worries.”
Luke nods, and he sits up so he can be eye level with you. He’s still got your wrist in his hand, and as he talks, he absentmindedly trails his thumb over your skin. “Yesterday was the last day of summer, and half of camp is gone, including your cabin. We spent the entire day fixing things up and making sure all our siblings were ready to go and doing everything Chiron and Mr. D asked. Everyone that wanted to leave left, all the counselors—including you—executed everything flawlessly, and there is nothing left to do but relax for a bit.”
“My cabin—”
“You’ve already cleaned it three times,” Luke says.
“It doesn’t hurt to do it a fourth,” you shrug.
Luke smiles and shakes his head. “It’s spotless, ace. The only thing left to do is enjoy some well-deserved alone time.”
You meet his gaze, that slight smile still on your lips, and Luke tilts his head. “So? Have your worries been eased?”
“...Mostly,” you say, and your smile turns coy. “Some kisses might help me forget them completely, though.”
Luke laughs, and his eyes gleam as they drop down to your lips for a moment. He brings you even closer with the hand still around your wrist, then he drops it in favor of slinging an arm around your waist. When he speaks, his voice is much softer, though it’s got a rugged edge.
“Now that is something I can do.”

It was so fascinating seeing the party split last night….. they weren’t necessarily taking sides, but becoming more defensive over Laudna or Orym.
Of course Imogen wants to believe Laudna, and even when she realizes that it’s more of Delilah’s influence, that Laudna isn’t entirely in control, she wants to protect her, to save her. And of course Dorian is going to protect Orym. He just got back to the party and has no idea about Delilah! From his perspective, Laudna just attacked his closest friend for no reason!
Ashton, though, he tried to play middle ground, but it was obvious he agreed with what Laudna was saying. They didn’t necessarily agree with her methods and wanted her to apologize for hurting Orym, but Otohan has killed so many people and now FCG is gone because of her, because of that blade, of course it’s bad. Of course, we should get rid of it, you’re right, but i’ve made the same mistake and you’ve taken this a bit too far.
Chetney and Fearne were the most unbiased out of that whole fight. Orym is Fearne’s best friend, she’s known him the longest, they’re closest. She had to bring him back from death once, and she’s so protective over him. She trusts him but she also wants to protect him from this dangerous weapon. But she’s also one of the only people who’s seen firsthand what Delilah’s influence is like. She knows Laudna isn’t entirely in control, she knows Delilah is dangerous, she doesn’t want her to slip….but she’s caught in the middle. And Chet, well, he was asleep for most of it, he missed the fight. All he knew was that Laudna was trying to take an incredibly dark and dangerous weapon away from Orym. He takes sort of an opposite approach to Fearne. They’re just weapons. Let them do what they’re going to do with them. He trusts Orym but he also trusts Laudna but god damn it, we’re supposed to trust each other. He takes that step to trust Laudna, maybe not even realizing that he’s enabling her, enabling Delilah. But he trusts his friends.
It was just such a good dynamic throughout the entire conflict. They’re both right and they’re both wrong

Summary: The arduous task of leaving, and rebuilding.
WC: 1.9k
Tumblr media
Over the weeks that those close to you adjust to the news of your little family of four being gone, you're all recovering in the safety of the hospital. Cat's is the slowest going. You and Melissa, while still in quite a bit of pain, are out of the woods. So is Rosie, though she isn't her usual hyper and always moving self. She’s content to sit quietly with you and occasionally snuggle up close to her sister in her hospital bed.
Cat slowly, painstakingly, gets there- after another surgery and plenty of medication and watchful eyes of professionals. Her little eyes open and stay that way more and for longer periods of time. Once she's stable, you and Melissa know you can't wait any longer. You have to leave. Before word somehow gets out that you are, in fact, still alive.
Cat's doctors contact a highly respected colleague in New York to coordinate them taking over her care as soon as you get there, essentially. Before you can leave though, you have one more meeting to sit in on. This time, instead of at businesses or the police station, it's in Cat's small hospital room. Melissa is sitting on the edge of your eldest's bed, holding a tiny hand as Cat catches a bit more sleep. You're sitting in a chair at the other side of the bed, holding Rosie in your lap.
Agent Shaw and Agent Danik greet Rosie enthusiastically when they arrive, happy to see her getting a little bit back to her usual self now that her sister is improving as well. Rosie hugs them both tight, like she used to do Luca and AJ at Sunday dinners. Like she only ever does people she likes. You almost want her to hate them, but your little girl doesn’t understand that these two are a big part of the reason that you’re in the mess you are. If they hadn’t suspected you to be a part of the hit on Bobby, none of this ever would’ve come about. But even you’ll admit, they’ve done a lot for you in the last weeks. They’re almost constantly standing guard with you, and you’ve even gotten to get to know them a bit better and see more into their personal lives.
The agents take the other chairs in the room, sitting opposite you and Melissa both. Danik hands your wife a folder while Shaw hands you an identical one.
“You each have copies of the documents for the house in New York. We'll be able to mail you the proper ones once we sort out your aliases- along with more documents for you both and the girls. Right now, we've got the plane tickets just with a different last name, to keep anyone trying to from immediately realizing it's you, though I doubt anyone is looking at this point. But once you're in New York you need to have completely different ones.” Danik explains quietly.
“The girls will be confused by calling them different names…” You mutter, flipping through your folder.
“They’re already confused enough not being able to go back home,” your wife sighs softly as she runs a hand through her hair.
“I know,” you reply just as quietly.
“We could…change them to the more common versions.” Melissa suggests. You hear the pain in her tone. When you were pregnant the two of you went through more names than you could count. The meanings and their significance mused to you both, but especially your wife- with Cat carrying on a family name so dear to her. Rosie was the name she'd picked herself and added the middle name her sister also carried down from their family.
“The nicknames would be the same.” Melissa says when you look at her, a tiny shrug of her shoulders as her fingers gently card through Cat's hair. “It would confuse them less.”
“Baby, are you-”
You don't even get to ask if she's sure. Melissa's head shakes as soon as you start. “We'll know what they mean and where they came from even if no one else will. It doesn't matter if it helps keep them safe.”
Reluctantly, you nod. The safety of your daughters is the only reason you're doing this as you are. Though originally you weren't going to almost die and fake die for it. You guess it is safer this way.
“You'll have to think of ones for yourselves, then. You're more likely to be found than the girls, especially if you kept your first names.”
You sigh. “We have to have them by the time we're in New York, right?”
“Yes. We'd prefer if you had them already but it's more important that we get you out of here right now. We'll provide an income every month, a set amount to help you get by.”
“I'm sure we'll still need to work.” Melissa says, looking to Agent Dakin.
The agent smiles wryly. “Unfortunately we can't provide you mafia level money.”
“I dunno.” You say, shutting your folder as you glance to your wife. Your shoulders shrug. “Could be fun to do somethin’ totally normal for once without worrying ‘bout the rest. ‘Sides, we both have business experience. We'll figure it out.”
“Neither of you can open a business again,” Danik warns. “Publicity will not do you any favors… even in a big city like Manhattan.”
Melissa sinks. She was hoping she would be able to open another restaurant… she’d make good money in such an affluent city. But that possibility was just thrown out the window.
A few hours later, you, your wife, and your girls are on an airplane in a private area, sorting through everything.
“So… Catherine Ann and Rose Marie,” Melissa sighs as she writes your daughters new legal names. “Last name?”
You shrug. “Should we stick with Italian, or go Irish this time?”
“Probably Italian,” your wife tells you as she scribbles down a few things. “And we need new names.”
“Well, I don’t know about you, but I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I think I want to go with Saoirse... freedom,” you say softly as you rock your youngest daughter in your lap gently. “And...” you do a quick search on your phone for different Italian last names.
“Hm?” Melissa hums.
“I’m looking at common last names, and I like... Fumagalli, or.... Carozza,” you tell Melissa.
Your wife looks at you with those sparkling green eyes of her, and she then rolls them at you. “Do you have any idea what those words mean in Italian?”
You quirk your head and raise a brow. “No? Should I?”
“Fumagalli means smoked poultry,” she deadpans.
“And I love a smoked bird,” you quip. “And it’s a cool last name!”
“And Carozza literally means mozzarella cheese.”
You laugh out loud at that one. “I knew that one sounded familiar... but I do like mozzarella cheese. It’s my favorite kind!”
“Good lord,” your wife grumbles as she writes down both last names on a lined piece of paper as ideas. “You have to be kidding me. How were we a part of the mob, and yet you come up with ridiculous shit like this?”
“You love me,” you smile at her as you set a soft hand on her knee.
“You’re damn lucky.” Melissa grumbles as she writes a few of her own ideas down.
You peek over her shoulder, seeing the list of last names, your suggestions followed by her own. “What about your name?” You ask.
“Raphaela.” Your wife answers with no hesitation, making clear she's considered this about as much as you have. She glances back at you with a small, almost shy smile. “It means God has healed.”
“I guess in a roundabout way, he has, huh?” You say. “Barb would've liked that one.” You add in a quiet murmur.
Melissa doesn't miss it, nodding and muttering her own agreement as she turns back to the list of last names. “Vinci.” She says aloud, looking back to you once more. “To conquer.”
You can't fight the grin on your face at the meaning. “I like that.” You admit, quickly stealing a kiss from Melissa. “But you're sure you don't want to be mozzarella? I know it's your favorite too.” You can't help but tease.
Melissa rolls her eyes, gently shoving you back to your own seat space. “I don't want to be cheese or smoked poultry, Thank you.”
When your flight lands you and Melissa have agreed on your new identities. By the time you're in a cab and nearly to your new home, you've failed your additional attempts to persuade her into your more silly last names. Not that you really wanted to. It just gave you both something to focus on fake arguing about to pass the time.
“We'll have to wait for all the documents back before we can enroll the girls back in school.” You say as you walk with Melissa up the steps of your new house. Each of you holding one of your girls in your arms.
“Maybe that's for the best.” Melissa says from next to you. You reach behind the porch light, feeling blindly for the key you were told you'd find hidden for you. You make a mental note it might be a good idea to change the locks at the first opportunity, just to be safe. “At least it will give Cat more time to recover.” Your wife adds as you slip the key into the lock.
“Guess we'll tell them it's a little vacation?” You suggest, glancing over your shoulder.
“I don't know.” Melissa says, making a face. “That will just make them more confused when the vacation doesn't end.”
You sigh but nod, knowing she's right. “We've got time to figure it out, at least.” You say, pushing the front door open. You look back to your wife. “You ready? First step of the rest of our lives.”
“Amore, that step happened when we got on the plane, if not before that.” Melissa says softly. Still, she puts a hand on your cheek, thumb gently rubbing at your skin in affection and nerves just the same. “Hopefully there's beds, at least.” She mutters before kissing you once.
“I don’t think I could sleep on the couch again if I tried,” you grumble.
You let Melissa step in ahead of you, pulling the door shut behind you and flipping the lock back in place. You trail after your wife, glad to find a sofa in the living room. It's certainly not like your living room back in Philly, or like one actually lived in but it's something.
You don't linger there, keeping a pace behind Melissa down the hallway. She opens one of the doors, finding the bathroom. The next is a bedroom, blissfully with a bed. Again, the room is not fully decorated but the basics are here. It's enough, for now.
You and Melissa carefully nestle your sleeping daughters to the bed. You don't even bother checking the other bedroom. The two of you are already content to squeeze onto the edges of the bed with the girls. It's been a long few days. This house doesn't feel like home, not yet, if it ever will, but with the feel of Melissa’s hand slipping into your own and squeezing, the sound of the girls’ quiet breathing, it's enough of home for you for right now.

people are saying he « led her on » because he did. the fact that he kissed her in the first episode set the tone for the rest of the season and if you can’t perceive the flirting I’m sorry but how?? he didn’t make anything clear he sent the craziest mixed signals in the world. there’s nothing revolutionary about claiming that Martha was being pushy toward someone who was clearly not interested it’s 1) weird to claim in what it suggests about her 2) factually not true.
I wasn’t gonna respond to this at first because the top half of this ask is pretty much just individual interpretation and I don’t really care about it. Like, no, to me, the Doctor doesn’t seem especially flirty towards Martha. He’s just sort of Like That. That’s his damage, you know, Mr. I need to traumadump on anyone who tolerates being around me for more than five minutes. Mr. If I don’t develop an intensely codependent emotional bond with the companion I have currently I’ll die. It doesn’t read to me as him trying to lead her on because that bit’s honest, and he does it with damn near every companion he’s ever had.
And if nothing else, because we do see Ten when he tries to flirt intentionally and he’s a fuckin dork about it. Kind of guy who looked up romance in the dictionary and took notes. Kinda guy who draws diagrams to maximize kissing potential. It would have been obvious even to me (<- romance-blind as all fuck) if he was flirting with Martha on purpose because he’s not smooth at all; he flirts like he’s gotten lines in a play and he’s super excited to be the main star.
But anyway, as I was saying, that’s just how I see it. And if you see it different, no skin off my back, I just disagree.
But I take umbrage with you putting words in my mouth. I never said Martha was pushy towards him. Because yeah, she’s not. If I implied that she was, then it was a result of poor phrasing on my part. Martha’s not at fault for what she feels, for wanting there to come something of it. No more at fault than the Doctor is for not returning those feelings. It’s a bit weird that you’re assuming that I think one of them has to be the bad guy here when that was the opposite of what I was saying. My point was: When it comes to their romantic subtext of their relationship, it’s weird to pretend like either of them are to blame for them not being in a relationship at the end of s3, and even weirder to assert that as part of why Martha supposedly wouldn’t like the Doctor afterwards when they’re. friends. they continue to be friends into s4.
Martha’s not pushy. She has a crush on her friend. It happens. He doesn’t return it. This also happens. Both of these facts are pushed to the extreme because he’s a time-traveling alien with poor emotional skills and she’s put herself in the position of needing to help him from minute one of meeting each other. That’s why it’s fun to watch, because the Doctor is both so open and so unavailable in turns, because Martha’s feelings for him grow and change as she knows more about her Doctor until she decides to step back.
I don’t know, man. You seem to be coming at this as if one of them has to be The Problem™️. I don’t think either of them is, not so definitively. I think boiling their relationship down to that is reductive and an insult to the way they both grow over s3, to Martha’s choice to continue to be his friend while also establishing her own boundaries, to the fact that the Doctor is able to let her go without immediately trying to kill himself afterwards when she’s not there to catch him.
#the thing about the doctor is that if you want to tell me that he’s Extra Special Flirty With This Companion.#i dunno. feels like something that requires a lot of proof lmao. because the doctor is a freak who latches onto people like a barnacle and#gets way too invested way too quick and holds on like he’ll die if he even thinks of letting go. he’s just like that. he’s just like that.#he’s like that with rose he’s like that with martha he’s like that with donna amy clara bill!!!! these relationships are all different but#the common core is that the doctor is a freak! the doctor clings on too tight!!! the doctor will fuck you up he loves you so much!!!#idk! is it more leading on for the doctor to kiss martha to pull off a plan than it is for him to reshape amy’s life around him on accident#and then show up when she’s an adult to finally whisk her away. or to let clara do emotional infidelity with him for months while#insisting that he’s not her boyfriend. i don’t think ever he is. i think he’s just like gravity. mavity. you’re gonna orbit him because he’s#something cosmic and unknowable. and he’s also your best friend. he’s always too much and too tangible all at once.#am i making any sense here.#ask#martha jones#the doctor#tenth doctor#doctor who#idk man its like 7 in the morning where i am im not awake enough to talk martha/ten semantics. personally i think they should have made out#on screen even more without ever clarifying the nature of their relationship so that they had even weirder and more complicated feelings#about each other.

I felt like, female Law. Idk. But i feel like she's a bit opposite from usual Law. If she was in relationship, she might do PDA and flirt in front others.
And damn, if we have cat, Law would be super jealous of it whenever he was a man or woman. Like, when you guys gonna makeout, Meow...
You stop what you're doing and might put the cat away while Law scoff and rolled his eyes how this tiny fluffy ball interrupt him with you
HEEHEE PLS KEEP SENDING IN LAW HEADCANONS AND INDULGE W ME, SFW OF NSFW!!!
anyways, fem law 😍😍😍 i honestly get a very nana osaki vibe from her…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I WILL BE HER HACHI 🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️
but anyways, she is definitely much more flirty and calm as a woman. sort of like pre timeskip law, actually… and i do love myself a good greasy woman.
but damnit, whenever things are getting spicy with law, of either gender, and the cat meows… law can’t ignore it. it irritates them to know end, and they might just end up putting the cat outside the bedroom door and shutting it.
whenever you tell them theyre being over-dramatic, they instantly are like, “ummm… NOOO?? THAT LITTLE PERV’S TRYING TO SEE SOMETHING!!”
both law and the cat are very cute, make sure law knows that.

been doing a lot of work that is functionally genealogy to power map several catholic developer dynasties who have been a historical anti-abortion base here. this is parallel to, but separate from, the story of the urban-based catholic organized opposition to integration (busing) as the foundation of organized opposition to abortion. this peripheral story is extremely useful from an organizing perspective: five families whose names we see plastered over every construction site in the city, and they’re all on the boards of anti-abortion nonprofits? trying to decide what our city is gonna be like from out there in grand ledge, st. john’s, dewitt? easy.
in the parallel, internal story, what we look for is a name attached first to anti-busing then to anti-abortion— that’s the formula, and michigan perfected it. (in 1970 we amended our constitution to ban state funding for religious schools—parochiaid, our catholics’ lost cause; in august 1971 the klan blew up ten school buses in my hometown pontiac michigan; in summer 1972 the state supreme court overturned our worst abortion criminalization law, but on november 7 our liberalization ballot measure failed, and on that same day lansing voters recalled the pro-busing school board.) i know you’ve heard this from me lots of times, but i like to keep saying it in different ways. the idea is that soon everyone is going to know this is how it went.
I have mixed feelings about the stock narrative about the anti-abortion movement being delivered from brown v board—it’s true, but i don’t think people are thinking about how it is true, and what it looks like. it very quickly became something people say. there’s a tendency to collapse this story with the debate about whether to focus on evangelicals or catholics— too simple, names too few names, not asking people to think enough. makes people less able to see where catholics and evangelicals collaborate, which is the elision that keeps making americans stupid.
anyway if you’re doing this work in a city anything like mine or bigger: i promise you have a CPC that’s been there since the late seventies, or at least you can find evidence of ones that old, and with a little bit of work you can pin a public segregationist on them. easy easy and an easy pill to swallow. you got it.
but that’s not what i’m going find about these rural catholics whose opposition to integration looked like enforcing a wide periphery—they were not mobilizing themselves around sites of integration because they were not at risk of being visited by integration. these guys just sat it out until the eighties, taught their men to care about social services in public, let the urban irish look bad. but i found the most delightful little flourish: right to life clinton county was founded by a woman from one of those big name catholic dynasties, yes, but, in partnership with an evangelical woman, the daughter of bob jones’s elmer rumminger. guy blurbed in every article that taught americans the phrase “segregation academies” five years ago. bob jones segregationist right here with our german catholic developers. what a blessing!

i don’t think we’re ever getting out of the “we’re just friends” “oh yeah those characters are such good friends (sarcasm)” “they’re not friends they’re gay” etc etc hole. we’re never getting out of that hole
#yes it’s bad when people try to erase gay relationships to portray them as friends and nothing more#that is NOT what i mean. i’m talking about when people do the Opposite Thing and decide that when characters are romantic togethr#then suddenly they’re not friends anymore! or if they say they’re friends they’re lying!#like … i was watching nimona with my friend yesterday and like. if you’ve seen the movie you know how obviously gay and in love bal and#ambrosius are. and then there’s this one moment where ambrosius says ‘i have lost everything the man i love my best friend’ and at that#moment my friend was like It’s sad that they decided to censor their relationship even though this movie is still rly gay :( and i was like#WHAT are you saying ? these two men are clearly in love with one another BUT they’re also best friends. Like those are things that can#coexist!! and DO coexist!!! there are many cases where people consider their romantic partners their best friends . or even refer to them as#their best friends more than just partner!!!!!! LIKE WHAT ARE YOU SAYINGGGG . does anybody get it#does anybody understand#i’m so sick of amatonormativity i’ll start eating drywall#yes i love making ‘oh they seem like really good friends’ jokes because i know how most people interpret those jokes. but to me it’s like#well. they ARE really good friends. they’re just also romantic/gay about it. ghhehghh#maybe one day friendship will stop being seen as something lesser maybe one day people will realize that most romance is also friendship#and your partner can be and in most cases is your friend or your best friend even#and maybe one day we’ll stop acting like friendship & romance are two mutually exclusive things#and maybe sure that gay character is calling their love interest their Best Friend because of denial and repressed emotions and whatever#but have u considered that it’s just true and they really are best friends ?? like when crowley calls az his best friend sure that might be#gay denial but they also literally Are best friends i don’t know what to tell you. and they will always be best friends#DOES ANYBODY GET IT !!!!!!!! js any of this making sense i dont know. I love complaining#crammerposting

Touchstarved OC Relationship Charts
I made the relationship charts for my Touchstarved OCs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More about their relationships with the Touchstarved LIs below!
Person who made these templates is @deiimi
Jin the Abandoned Alchemist
“Friendship is...a new venture for me. But I promise, I'll do my best!”
Likes Kuras — “You take care of everyone, but who takes care of you, doctor?” Admires Kuras for his skills as a doctor and his selflessness. Finds his presence very soothing, which is great because he is a ball of constant anxiety.
Jin and Kuras have a lot of similarities in some ways. They are both naturally curious, they both seek to help others, they are both introverted, and they are both avid readers.
Oh, and they’re both INFJs and earth signs.
Kuras seems like the kind of person Jin would like to read next to. He wonders what sort of books Kuras likes. Perhaps he would have some recommendations.
Conversation is never boring with Kuras. Jin loves to discuss alchemy, theories, and experiments that he’s pondered attempting with him.
Jin insists on helping Kuras around his clinic where he can, since he believes he owes the latter a life debt now.
He stops by to gift Kuras something every now and then, like some food or tea, because have you ever seen the doctor eat or, gods forbid, cook anything? He worries for Kuras sometimes, even though Kuras would say there’s nothing to concern himself over.
Close with Leander — “Something about you makes me want to be more than I am — and yet, whenever I’m with you, I feel like…I’m enough.” Jin’s never met anyone so friendly, generous, and brave. Leander makes him want to be brave, too.
He wholeheartedly believes Leander is a good person. A mage of that kind of power and he uses it to help people for free. He lives in Lowtown. He’s given a home to the Bloodhounds.
Leander strikes him as a kind, dazzling, and genuinely good person.
And more puzzlingly, he’s fearless. Offered to let Jin — a complete stranger — inflict his curse on him, even tie him up so Jin could feel safer.
Try as he might, Jin just can’t understand why Leander is so kind to him. His whole life, he’s never been enough just as he is. His curse — his existence — is a blight he’s always had to seek atonement for. Not even the mage who basically raised him thought otherwise.
So for someone so bright and fearless and good to offer everything he yearns for like he’s actually worthy of it…that feeling is addictive. Almost more addictive than the feeling of warm, trusting flesh and blood under his fingers.
He can’t let Leander down. It has to be different this time.
Dislikes Vere — “I never know what to expect with you. I’m still working out whether that’s good or bad.” Everything about Vere startles Jin. Not just because he’s a killer, but because of his shamelessness and Jin flusters easily.
Vere is a bit unpredictable to Jin and that makes him nervous.
Vere’s constant games and teasing will probably take some getting used to. As well as the flirting and the innuendoes.
Doesn’t know whether to take Vere seriously a lot of the time.
Most honest person you’ll ever meet if you don’t listen to a damn word he says. Jin’s starting to learn what that means.
It will take a while for Jin to warm up to Vere.
Likes/Dislikes Ais — “You are everything I have been warned against and you seem to have made it your life’s mission to piss me off at every turn! So why do I trust you?” Despite not knowing each other very long, Ais has somehow managed to push every one of Jin’s buttons. But he’s also honest, and that’s something Jin respects.
Ais challenges Jin in ways he isn’t used to, and he finds that both frustrating and frustratingly enlightening.
Ais is intriguing to Jin, unlike anyone he’s met before. His cool, relaxed, and honest demeanor — his entire character is so different from Jin, who is anxious, cautious, and constantly worried about not being a burden, not making his existence harder for others to deal with.
Jin has a bad habit of lying to himself — sometimes he doesn’t even realize it — so whether subconsciously or not, he finds Ais’s honesty refreshing and…safe. Jin feels oddly safe around him.
Ais feels like the eye of a storm. A moment of clarity in the midst of desolation.
In some ways, Jin finds the most freedom in Ais. He allows himself to get upset, to make demands, to say aloud the sarcastic comments often kept in his head. He allows himself to take up space in a way that he usually doesn’t and it terrifies him, because what if he likes it too much? What if he can’t go back to the way he used to be?
Likes Mhin — “Ah, are you busy? Sorry, I’ll try not to get in your way!” Mhin seems very reliable to Jin, but also very focused on their goal. Jin doesn’t want to bother them.
To Jin, they feel like a startled animal in an unfamiliar place. He’s very cautious around them, tries not to upset them.
Jin would leave Mhin alone for the most part, wait for them to approach him.
They’d probably end up with each other in a rowdy tavern, Mhin being a loner and Jin being a bit of a wallflower.
If they end up conversing, I think they’d bond over their interest in alchemical experiments.
Alon the Stray Hound
Likes Kuras — “I like you, Doc, maybe a bit too much. You know, you’re not giving me much incentive to avoid getting hurt.” Already liked and found him curious when they first met, but after discovering his mischievous streak? She wants to team up to pull the prank of the century.
Like Mhin, Alon admires his selflessness and how he helps the people of Lowtown, seemingly for free.
Kuras piques their curiosity. He’s graceful, mysterious, unshakable. They want to know if there’s anything more beneath that seemingly untouchable image.
He’s like an impenetrable safe they’re trying to crack. She doesn’t know what’s inside until it opens, but they’ve decided it’s worth the effort. There’s something invaluable in there, she just knows it. He’s a puzzle to them and they like puzzles.
Evading an angry Senobium cleric through Eridia’s labyrinth of a city with Kuras was the first time she felt at home since her old crew’s betrayal.
Likes Leander — “I’m no mage, but even I know you and I could make magic together.” Instantly clicked with him due to their similarities. There’s two of them now. And that’s everyone else’s problem.
Looking at both their relationship charts, it looks like they’re fighting for the Protagonist role.
Being the Hound, they’ve got good instincts and they know Leander is putting on a show most of the time. Alon’s not too worried because they’re also a performer — a jester who works and charms the crowd, both to survive and because they genuinely love it. So as far as Alon’s concerned, Leander can keep his secrets — at least, until it hurts others.
Look this is what happens when you put two people with a hero complex together okay they can end up being heroic against each other
They’re both magicians, though Leander does actual magic and Alon does sleight of hand.
Alon also probably had a Robin Hood thing going for them and their crew in the past.
Likes Vere — “You’re trouble, Foxy. I like that in a man.” Finds his assholery hilarious, shares his love for mischief and distaste for rules. The chain and collar plays right into her hero complex, though, so that might be concerning…
Loves to match Vere innuendo for innuendo. Vere’s insinuations tend to be more elegant, though, while Alon has a whole arsenal of “deez nuts” or “your mom” jokes.
Genuinely wants to help Vere out of his imprisonment, but how to make him see…
“I mean, yeah, so you killed some people — Not saying I condone it! — but the Senobium deals with that crime by…forcing you to kill people? Sheesh, and authorities call me an outlaw.”
Likes Ais — “Hey there, Soup Guardian. Guardian of the Soup. Ocudeus quivers before him.” Admires Ais’s straightforwardness and cool charisma. Thinks he’d be a loyal friend, or at the very least, a fun drinking buddy.
I don’t think Alon would be romantically attracted to Ais. They’d find Ais attractive, though. Like, they have eyes.
Would visit Ais to chat or play with Princess and the other Soulless creatures.
Finds his calm presence grounding, and likes that he listens to them ramble on about whatever pops into her mind at the moment.
Would join him in a bar brawl. Would help him start one, would help him end one.
Loves to banter with him since they’re both sarcastic little shits.
Okay, I’ll give him a serious quote from them: “Let me know if you need someone to take Princess out for a walk! I’m your guy.”
Likes Mhin — “You helped me, now I’ve got your back! So what d’ya say? You with me, partner?” Finds them interesting, cute and fun to fluster. Wants to get to know them better.
Remember when I said she likes puzzles? Mhin is a sort of puzzle to them, too. Full of odd contradictions and pieces that don’t fit together. They are lonely and they need help, but they insist on doing everything on their own. They say they don’t care, but they keep helping her. What’s their deal?
They find Mhin fun. Fun to figure out, fun to fluster, fun to chat with.
Mhin strikes Alon as lonely and in need of a friend — maybe it’s their hero complex saying to lend a hand or maybe it’s because they’re in the same spot, but Alon wants to reach out to them.
She believes they share the same goals. Of course, Mhin doesn’t have to accept her ambitious propositions of teaming up to pull a Senobium heist, but she can’t shake this hopeful feeling around them — that if they worked together, maybe neither of them would be alone anymore.
I did not intend to make them Mhin’s foil in my playthrough but um. So far…
They are both cursed. They are both newcomers to Eridia. They are both seeking to get into the Senobium. They are both lonely.
Alon is charming and outgoing and always seeking to make new friends, even if she ends up getting hurt. Mhin is the opposite, pushing people away to protect themselves, prevent themselves or others from getting hurt.
Mhin is sullen and short-tempered whereas Alon is optimistic and hard to ruffle. Though I guess that’s already evident in how she likes everyone already.
Mhin is blunt and straightforward — they have their secrets, but this is the vibe I get from them. They’re usually honest with their feelings, emotionally constipated as they seem. Alon is also emotionally constipated but in a completely different direction. She deflects and covers up their unpleasant feelings and other uncomfortable topics with jokes like it’s an Olympic sport and she’s the defending champion.
Alon is adventurous, impulsive and adaptive. They thrive in change and chaos, but deep down, they crave stability and a home. Meanwhile, Mhin strikes me as someone who prefers the security of the familiar, when they need a change.
Their fighting styles would be so different. It’s like earthbending vs airbending (if any of you guys are ATLA fans). I think Mhin has a very efficient and precise method of taking down enemies. They make every strike count and they don’t hesitate. Alon, on the other hand, likes playing tricks, using traps and diversions, discombobulating and dancing around their enemies. Mhin is a hunter, Alon is a thief — her goal isn’t usually to take down her opponents, it’s to escape or avoid direct engagement. Not that they can’t fight — they did grow up on the streets — but Alon will always choose to sweet talk, confuse, incapacitate, or run where they can.
Alon’s colour is orange to contrast Mhin’s blue. Similar to how Leander’s green contrasts against Ais’s red and Kuras’s yellow contrasts Vere’s purple. And although I wish I could say otherwise, it is completely unintentional. I wanted to give Alon a bright colour that stood out from the others because that’s their character. They are bright and colourful and fun.
Alon’s colour scheme is semi-inspired by the sun (bright orange, yellow, and pinks like the sunset) and Mhin’s colours more closely resemble the moon.
I just think this is cute. Mhin likes stargazing. Alon has freckles. And you know how there’s always poems and metaphors about freckles being constellations on skin?

obsessed with the idea of the doctor and the master standing together in opposition to gallifrey post-end of time. less in it being the reality of the situation, and more in it being what the master perceives it to be in the immediate aftermath of being. well. told he was going to be disposed of. the combination of that rejection with the doctor choosing him, the way that sets them up with a common enemy. but where that enemy for the master becomes gallifrey in the abstract with the council as the face of it, the doctor never sees it that way, never thinks of it as the two of them against their own world. the doctor, crucially, kept count of the children. when he saves gallifrey, it isn’t about the master at all, not to anyone but the master themself. because how are they supposed to take the doctor choosing gallifrey over them as anything other than a betrayal.
#the master and his stupid warped sense of importance to both the doctor’s choices and the universe as a whole#which is. well. i mean he’s not alone in that. the doctor has the same ideas about himself in relation to the master. and the universe.#only the universe obviously sometimes validates him because this is a story. about him.#but my point is. the master wanting gallifrey to burn post-end of time. setting up the hybrid prophecy as missy. makes sense to me. it does.#i just wish there was more. conflict to it. more to lash out at the doctor with because the master is choosing him so *why* isn’t he#choosing the master back. why is he trying to stop the hybrid plans. this is what they’re meant to *do*. this is what being on the same side#*means*. that there must be an opposition and that opposition must be gallifrey as a whole. because in that most crucial moment the master#got hurt. and time echoed back because of what the council did to make it so he’d been hurting his entire life. just so they could use him.#you get it? you get it. my fucked up raccoon of a man she has so many issues.#it’s just such a fascinating concept to me because that is still *gallifrey*. that’s still his home. the master is not heartless.#when he tries to connect with the doctor he does it to references to gallifrey’s physical features. this is a place he mourned you know?#in his way. so. you know. how do you look at your home and want it to burn right? how far do things have to escalate that you’d rather it be#ash than a place to go back to. and how do you deal with pushing forward with this plan. when you thought you wouldn’t have to push it alone#like for one minute there they were really truly on the same side. their own side. and then they weren’t. and no one told the master that#they weren’t anymore until she got punched in the head by that knowledge. you know?#rambling again im so sorry#doctor who#thoschei#the doctor#the master

Only funny thing about people who demand tmi and proof before believing something personal like sexual orientation, gender, ancestry, or disability (if they agree with the person enough because being real it seems to be about not wanting to be grouped in or compared to someone they personally don’t like) is when they accidentally confuse traits everyone has for being specific to whatever they are attempting to “gatekeep” or doubt. They’ll be like “🙄Another illness? Hah, attention seeker” and it’s about something almost every human on the planet can experience and most will at some point in their lives.

Okay so as to why trigun valantinez dies (this is gonna be incoherent as fuck I’m so sorry I’m very bad at words)
So to start off the place they came from was a very very isolated village that was falling on hard times. Super religious too. And I THINK that at some point the people that lived there actually saw the plant they’d had unfurl (holy fucking shit that is literally an angel ) and they went NUTS.
So at some point the plant starts dying right? And you KNOW that’s a death sentence for the people. So they all got the Bright Idea to easentially do some Unethical Shit by literally extracting bits off of the plant and doing some convoluted experimentation bullshit that resulted in Horrible Goo being implanted into a willing surrogate (woman that REALLLY wanted to be the next Virgin Mary. She wasn’t pregnant with them or anything she just fuckin neuralinked or something to the plant after getting filled with Goo and Valantinez burst out of the dying plant like Knives did that one time fully grown and everything. Except the resulting wave of radioactivity melted everyone within a ten mile radius. So basically the entire village fuckin horribly died.)
And essentially what they ended up doing is creating a being that is rapidly decaying over time and could literally violently explode at any second (Sentient Nuke).
So here’s the thing! The body modifications are still there! Except in this case it’s literally to keep them from bursting at the seams. They are very much living on borrowed time and entropy WILL catch up to them whether they like it or not. Which. Their whole philosophy is still very much “Fuck You I’m Not Dying On Your Terms I’m Dying On Mine”
Which brings us here! They’re a mercenary! Gun for hire! They outright kill people for money! Super fuckin reckless too. Like actively putting themself in Mortal Danger all the time (circles right back around to the philosophy thing) and like. The thing HERE is that either they get cash (funding for more modifications) or they get a bullet in their brain and they die without causing another Incident. Win win you know?
