It's not anti-fascist and even if it was it's #the director's fault for desecrating heinlein's incredible sci-fi epic vision. ermm media literacy is dead.

@ younger creepypasta fans, don't be worried about sharing what you make for the fear of people finding issue with it for existing. We like your art for what it is, and encourage you to keep making it, because that's what the core of being an artist is. The ability to write, draw, create, whatever it is that drives you, and literally nobody ever can take that away from you. Those kids with the shitty stories and self inserts built a fandom from the ground up, wrote and drew their characters just because they wanted to. If you don't care for it, make your own art, or move elsewhere.

But the reason people are media-illiterate is because they have a worldview that undermines clear communication and objective truth. Which means, they undermine what media is even for.

Look at how everyone's obsessed with the idea of "personal truth." Personal pronouns. Personal journeys. Personal realities. Then look at fandoms. Nobody can even acknowledge that stories have a point--a point that the storyteller intended, not a point that the audience assigns. Nobody can acknowledge that. It's all "open to interpretation." It's all "but what does it mean to me?"

Guess what, the person who wrote the book or directed the film or drew the cartoon didn't do it so that you could assign your own meaning to it. They did it so that they could transplant something from their brain and heart to yours. Something that wasn't in there before.

But you just want more of what you already like, so as it's being transplanted, you intercept and tear it into pieces until it looks like what you already like, unrecognizable from how the artist/author/filmmaker/storyteller created it to be--and then it'll fit--comfortably, unfortunately--into your closed-off mind.

I am praying, if American Arcadia does get a big fandom, that we dont do to Vivian what the undertale Fandom did to Chara and put the entire villain role and blame onto her.

Of course, she is a lot more responsible and reprehensible than Chara ever was. She is actively perpetuating the cycle and represents the monetary greed of content like the American Arcadia show.

But we cant forget that the AUDIENCE and by extension WE are also the villains here, not just Vivian. We are what give her power and consume without considering the lives of those locked in the content cage.

Making money off art does not make it impure. Something being produced under capitalism does not make it less valuable as art. Your art isn't devalued by you selling it. A book/movie/play/show isn't less artistically valuable because it was distributed (I am deliberately not using the word "made") by a company.

The idea that monetization is antithetical to art is not a leftist idea. It is a deeply reactionary idea, that finds the idea of artists also being workers are scary.

If you view art that people make money off of as invalid. Then you inherently only view art made by people with the privilege it takes to have time and resources to make art without having to sell it as valuable.

"This isn't real art, it's just a product" might look like hatred of capitalism, but in practice it is hatred of workers.
