Stance on the Zuko/Suki ship?
personally, not a fan.
zu.ki doesn't disgust me the way kat.aang and mai.ko do, but i just... really struggle to see why this is a ship. i know there's some basis for it in the comics, but given that i personally think the comics are absolute garbage, i'm not taking anything in there into consideration.
would they work together? sure i guess, but i don't see why i would ever ship them when zutara and sukka, two ships that actually have meaningful canon interaction, buildup and intimacy, are right there.
no hate to anyone who ships zu.ki, you do you and i hope you're having fun, but it's just not my thing.

Zuki and zutara stans were literally calling Mai ugly and saying she is useless but Maiko shippers are the sexist ones?

The avatar comics were really just that meme where the guy looks over his shoulder at the girl walking behind him while his gf complains. Suki spent like a week with Zuko and was ready to upgrade from goofy sarcasm and meat guy to mister hot and angsty Fire Lord haha
SJKDSJKDSJ ok i'm not gonna poke that bear but you know, it's actually really interesting to think about though!!! Because in canon, Sukka was super sweet and worked well (almost TOO PERFECTLY imo, I love sukka but it had no conflict or pushback whereas Zuki gives me lovely royalty bodyguard forbidden romance to work with). So, I do have to wonder if the intent behind that was like, Suki and Sokka's jobs pulled them apart for extended periods, so they just didn't see eachother and naturally were kind of falling apart bit by bit, while Zuko and Suki saw eachother every day? I can't in good faith see Suki as a cheater!!!! I think also there was a lot of trust built between Suki and Zuko. One, as bodyguard that's bound to happen but as friends, too. Zuko tells her about his worries. ZUKO, VENTING AND TELLING SOMEONE ABOUT HIS EMOTIONS. HUH???? But he trusts her enough for it, and she sats by him when the entire gaang was like 'hm. no'. So, you're objectively correct but I also wonder what was behind the scenes of it all because I can't believe it was surface level 'oh I like him more now' on Suki's end.

Anti-Apartheid Musicians in Post-Punk: Amplifying Voices for Peace
Introduction The post-punk movement of the 1980s was more than just music—it was a powerful vehicle for social change. As apartheid gripped South Africa, musicians worldwide rallied against racial injustice. In this blog post, we explore how post-punk icons used their art to amplify anti-apartheid messages and contribute to the broader concept of peace. 1. Nelson Mandela: From Obscurity to…

Regarding that other anon bringing up ZK shippers bashing Jet and making him this ooc abusive rapist to Katara; I wonder if Zeets hate Jet because they think he "stole" Zuko's chance of being Katara's bad boy love interest (even though that wasn't the reason Katara was initially attracted to Jet). Also, ZKs probably hate that books two and three had more recurring female characters besides Katara. Suki and Yue weren't much "competition" for fanon Katara in book one being in only a few episodes and Sokka's love interests, but I guarantee you if Zuko had crushes on Toph or Ty Lee or even a returning Suki, they'd get just as much hate from the ZKs as Mai does.
Oh, you have NO IDEA how correct you are. I remember seeing some Zutarians that were cool with Suki as a character and with Zuki as a ship - until that ship started getting some popularity. Not much, but just the slightest possibility of Zutara not being THE "preferable choice" to Maiko made them want heads on spikes.
I've seen PLENTY of anti-Maiko/Mai metas that talk about about how Ty Lee is totally the superior character and better suited for Zuko - and it's just painfully obvious in every single one of them that the reason why they picked Ty Lee as the "totally neutral third choice" is because she is BY FAR the female character Zuko has interacted with the least. They know there's no way the fandom would colectively latch onto that as "the perfect ship that we could have totally had", so it's not really a threat to them and allows them to pretend that their hatred towards Mai is not 100% because she "gets in the way" of their ship.
It REALLY wouldn't surprise me if it was the same with Jet - after all, unlike Jin, he wasn't a one-off character that is never mentioned again. Katara's past interest in him WOULD absolutely make him a threat in their eyes.

Ryzaman, the Free Lance Hero
An office worker and live streamer by day, Pablo "Pabs" Oryza moonlights as the transforming hero Ryzaman to eliminate villains and monsters who wish to suppress the sun's light.
Unfortunately, it turns out that people beefing with the sun on a supervillain scale are in short supply. As such, Ryzaman decided to become a freelance hero, spotting other heroes as a temporary substitute if they need a day off or have an emergency in their personal lives. Bringing his day job ethos into the battle, Ryzaman fights on.
Finisher
The Sundown Reverse Punch is based on the Gyaku-Zuki from karate. It's an ordinary punch magnified to the force of a typical finishing move by the power of the sun.
Power Level
Ryzaman is strongest when fighting anti-Sun enemies. Outside of that specialization, however, he's relatively weak compared to most heroes, which is why he can only really act as a substitute. This has resulted in having good relations with certain villains, since they can borrow him to act like a jobber to make themselves look stronger or have a fulfilling but harmless victory now and again. For his part, Ryzaman doesn't really mind, since he has plenty on his plate already.

Re.Gray 029 - Marshals in Distress
Tumblr media
[ Masterlist ] [ Read on AO3 ] [ Raws ]
Summary: The Godhunt begins.
♦ 43
29th Night - Marshals in Distress
♦ 44
Lavi: How many'd you get?
Allen: Thirty... or so?
Lavi: Aha, I win, I got 37.
Allen: ...... Allen: I couldn't really keep count in there.
Lavi: I just habitually record everything~~
♦ 45
Lavi: About 70 all told, huh... A straightforward raid aimed directly for us. Lavi: Just taking advantage of the fact that you and Lenalee are wounded? Lavi: Or were they after something else...? Lavi: Wonder if things are all right at the hospital—
sfx: ZUKI [Allen's Innocence arm throbs heavily with pain] Allen: Ouch!!
Lavi: All right there? Lavi: Left arm's not fully healed up yet, eh? sfx: zaku [Lavi jams the cross-end of his hammer into the ground like a walking stick, helping himself up]
Allen: Not quite. Allen: I wish I were equipment-type like you and the others. sfx: haaaa [long sigh] Allen, side: Being parasitic-type is just inconvenient.
Lavi: ...The hospital's thataway, right?
Allen: More or less?
Lavi: Grab on. sfx: n [he proffers the hammer handle to Allen]
Allen: Why?
Lavi: Big hammer, little hammer— sfx: vu [Innocence initializes]
♦ 46
Lavi: Stretch! sfx: GO [the hammer handle extends to absurd length, catapulting them over the buildings as they hold onto its top end]
Allen: Hgh!? Allen: Uwahhh! Allen: Dowahhh!
Lavi: To the hospital! Stretch, stretch, stretch! sfx: gyu [they're airborne at very speed]
♦ 47
Bookman: Spit it out. Bookman: What are you here for?
♦ 48
Slugger: Kuh... Slugger: Kukukukuh.... Slugger: Message for you, from the Millennium Earl.... Slugger: "The time has come. 🤍" Slugger: "The 7000-year prologue is over. At last, the play begins. 🤍" Slugger: "Be sure not to miss the bell for your cue." Slugger: "You're the actors, Exorcist scum!!! 🤍"
♦ 49
sfx: buh [the bunny end of its arm abruptly detaches itself and flies at Komui] Slugger: I'll take you with me, at least!
Komui: !
Bookman: !!
sfx: DON [explosion]
♦ 50
sfx: pachi pachi [smouldering books and documents patter to the floor]
Komui: Le....
sfx: shuru [a blanket slithers off Komui's rescuer to the floor]
Komui: Lenalee.
sfx: shuuuuu [her right Dark Boot steaming and smoking, still high in the air from smiting Slugger]
♦ 51
sfx: ho [sigh of relief] sfx: You're finally awake....
Allen: uwaaaAAHHHHH
sfx: DOPAN [Allen and Lavi burst through the wall, clinging to the hammer handle]
♦ 52
sfx: DOGASHAN [they land in a heap at the far end of the room, taking Bookman down with them]
sfx: mokumoku [book stacks falling over, ruckus]
Komui: ...... Komui: You've used that thing to fly again, I see.
sfx: doh [thump] sfx: zapo [Lavi pops out of the wreckage, chagrined and grinning]
Lavi, side: ahahahaha Lavi: Ahaha, my bad! It's really handy, but it's super hard to brake. Lavi: Feels great, though, right, Allen? Lavi: ? Lavi: Allen?
sfx: zapo [someone else pops out of the wreckage behind him]
sfx: nununununu [it's Bookman, and he's livid] Bookman: You BRATS...!
Lavi: O-Oops...!?
♦ 53
sfx: doruh doruh doruh [galloping horses pulling a Finder carriage]
Komui: Let's talk about the mission, now. Komui: Are you two listening?
Lavi & Allen: Y-Yessir....
Label: Sitting seiza.1 sfx: vuguaaaaa [moaning] sfx: jin jin [Lavi's legs falling asleep, twinging]
Komui: A few days ago, Komui: one of our marshals was killed.
♦ 54
Komui: Kevin Yeegar was his name. Komui: He was the eldest of the five, but insisted on fighting on the frontlines.
Lenalee: They got Marshal Yeegar...!?
Komui: He was found in Belgium, hung backwards on a church's cross. Komui: The word "Godhunt" was carved into his back.
Allen: Godhunt...!?
Lavi, side: ah Lavi: They mean Innocence, right!?
Komui: Correct. Komui: To search for Accommodators, marshals each have to carry a good amount of Innocence around with them. Komui: Yeegar was carrying eight.
♦ 55
Komui: Counting his own anti-Akuma weapon, that makes nine Innocence in enemy hands. Lavi: Nine....
Komui: Despite being crucified and critically wounded, the marshal did not die immediately. Komui: Until his final breath, he... sang.
Yeegar: Millennium-lord... Yeegar: is on the hunt ♪ Yeegar: Hunting down the vital Heart.... ♫ Yeegar: He struck out with me... Yeegar: But next might be thee.... ♫
♦ 56
Lavi: "Lord"?
Komui: Seems to be a nickname.
Lavi: Huh.
Komui: The Noah Allen and Lenalee encountered called him that.
Allen: Um.... Allen: What does "vital Heart" refer to...?
Komui: A particular Innocence we've been searching for among the 109. Komui: You could also call it the "core" or "nucleus".
♦ 57
Komui: It is the source of every Innocence's power, and could return them all to nothing. Komui: If we can lay hands on it first, we'll have the power to prevent the apocalypse. Komui: That's what the Earl's after!
Allen: So where is it? Komui: No idea.
Allen: What?
Komui: To be frank, we can't guess which it might be, and the Cube doesn't tell us how to identify it~~ Komui, side: Ergo: no idea. Komui, side: For our part, Hevvy and I put our heads together whenever a new Innocence comes in. Komui, side: But despite my brilliance, we just can't make any headway. It's a real pain! You know how busy we are. Stingy of the ancient ones not to give us a hint, at least. But I suppose they had a lot on their plates. I've got a bit more on mine, now, thanks to this. Komui: For all we know, it's one we haven't found yet. Or it already has an Accommodator.
♦ 58
Komui: The marshal was only the first casualty. Komui: The Earl may believe that the most powerful Accommodators have the greatest chance of bearing the Heart. Komui: He most likely brought in the Noah to boost battle strength over Akuma alone. Komui: I think the message means Komui: that they're coming for all Exorcist marshals. Komui: I suspect the same message has been sent to Exorcists elsewhere, too.
Lavi: Makes sense. The Accommodator of such a badass Innocence probably would be marshal-level.
Komui: But the marshals alone are at a disadvantage, up against both Akuma and Noah.
♦ 59
Komui: So we're assembling our scattered Exorcists into four teams. Komui: The mission this time is to safeguard the marshals. Komui: You four will rendezvous with Marshal Cross!

INSIDE THE ARCHIVES: AN INTERVIEW WITH DON LETTS, THE ONE WHO MADE THE BRIDGE BETWEEN PUNK AND REGGAE IN THE LATE 70s
Still sorting out my archival material, this time I came across an interview I conducted with Don Letts on 24th March 2009, that is to say almost 14 years ago to the day.  Damn! Time flies…  For those who don’t know, Don Letts, 67, is a British film director, DJ and musician of Jamaican descent. In the late 70s, he made the bridge between the burgeoning punk and reggae scenes. This discussion revolves around punk and reggae mostly. A short excerpt of it appears in my book, Vibrations jamaïcaines (Camion Blanc, 2011, p.541, French language), but it has never been fully published until now. Why publishing it now then? Just because punk and reggae are not dead.
JKD: Don, you are known to have introduced reggae music to punks when working as a DJ at the Roxy Club. But the Roxy was a punk-oriented club, so how and why did you decide to play reggae?
Don Letts: I had no choice! This was so early in the punk movement that there wasn’t any punk record to play. So, I played what I loved, dub reggae, and lucky for me the punks loved it too. Although I did slip in a bit of New York Dolls and the Stooges, and the MC5 occasionally.
JKD: So, when you played reggae music, punks loved it, right?
Don Letts: Yeah, they liked it. They liked the bass lines, the anti-establishment stance and the fact that the songs were about something – and they didn’t mind the weed either!
JKD: Do you know other historical fact(s) which allowed punk and reggae cultures to get close together?
Don Letts: Before the “Punk Reggae Party”, there had long been a tradition of white working-class kids getting their rebellious fix/ inspiration from black music – not to mention white musicians. Before punk, it was predominantly American music but by the early 70s, Jamaican music came into the mix.
JKD: What are the common points and contrasts between reggae/ rasta culture and punk culture?
Don Letts: The common thread between the two cultures was the attitude. Like minded rebels whose weapon of choice was music. The difference?... Style and presentation!
JKD: At some stage in the 70s, in London, did punks use to go to reggae clubs and Rastas to punk clubs or not really?
Don Letts: The only punks that went to reggae clubs were the ones I took! Namely the Slits, Joe Strummer and John Lydon. In Fact, I took Joe Strummer to a reggae show at The Hammersmith Palais, which led him to write the song “White Man in Hammersmith Palais”. The only Rastas that went to punk clubs were me and my bredrin’ who also worked at The Roxy.
JKD: Johnny Rotten is said to be the one who took you first to Jamaica. Can you tell me briefly how it happened?  Punks in Jamaica in the 70s, it sounds rather atypical, doesn’t it?
Don Letts: After the Sex Pistols broke up, John was looking to escape the paparazzi. So, he went to Jamaica with Richard Branson to help set up Virgin’s reggae label “Front Line”. John asked me to come with him, figuring I was Black so I must have already been there. The truth is the closest I’d been to Jamaica was seeing the film “The Harder They Come” in my local cinema in Brixton. And that’s how I ended up in Jamaica for the first time with Johnny Rotten. It was truly amazing hanging out with the likes of I-Roy, Prince Far I, Lee Perry, Big Youth, U-Roy, the Congos, the Abyssinians, Tapper Zukie etc. In fact, all the reggae greats!
JKD: The Clash are often associated with reggae. What other punk-rock bands were closed to and influenced by reggae music in the 70s?
Don Letts: Other than the Clash, the punk bands that were particularly inspired by reggae were the Slits and P.I.L. (formed by Johnny Rotten, previously known as the singer of Sex Pistols). There might have been others but they are the ones that move me.
JKD: Thanks for sharing your incredible story, Don.
Don Letts: Not at all Jérémie.

The Zuki vs Maiko drama on Twitter is funny as hell. Some Zuki shippers were innocently talking about how much they loved their ship and Maiko shippers were constantly swarming their mentions and telling them how much their ship sucked because the two didn't interact much and will never happen because "Mai was obviously Izumi's mother". They even made up the conspiracy that people must only ship Zuki because they ship Zutara (??) even though a lot of Zuki shippers aren't Zutara shippers aren't all. They just don't like the Maiko dynamic and a lot of people in general just don't like Mai for a variety of reasons. As someone who likes both Zuki and Maiko, I do think a lot of Maiko shippers tend to do this sexist thing where they treat all girls who are romantic "competition" to Mai as interchangeable. They keep acting like Suki, Katara, Song, and Jin as interchangeable. I mean, Zuki and Jinko are wayyy more popular than Maiko on 4chan and 4channers absolutely do NOT like Zutara. (Though I do think it mostly comes from the fanbase on 4chan being highly male and a lot them having this intense projection onto Aang).

the ONLY world in which I’d accept sokka as the SWT ambassador to the FN instead of katara is a world in which katara is CHIEF of the SWT (like my girl deserves)!! I mean, can you just imagine the sheer INSANITY sokka would feel having to deliver the love letters/gifts his baby sister and the fire lord frequently send to each other every time he travels between the FN and the SWT?? like, he is genuinely happy for them but he’s also sickened by their behaviour (particularly at peace summits, but really just whenever they’re in the same room, “IS THIS ALLOWED?? YOU TWO DO REALISE YOU’RE IN PUBLIC??” to which katara argues that turnabout is fair play) and he complains about it regularly to suki, who is actually a key reason he took the job in the first place!! obviously he’s a pragmatist and he wanted to put his genius brain to use helping his nation in any way he could (even though he’ll be the first to admit that diplomacy isn’t always his forte), but he also wanted to be closer to his wife since she’s the head of zuko’s security detail ;)

Bruh I don’t really even ship Kataang but I just scrolled through some of your posts criticizing Zuko…and like…you’re spot on. The rampant Zukophilia in the fandom is terrible. When I first watched the show I loved Kataang, soured on it after rewatching, and even though I never was a serious Zutara shipper, the fandom has left a bad taste in my mouth for basically all Zuko ships (except Maiko).
I’ve almost gone full circle because the way Zuko is made out to be broody and angsty and conflicted while also soft and sensitive and pure…it’s nonsensical…I mean, have people even seen the show? The fandom has erased canon Zuko and replaced him with an absurdly-idealized, traditionally-masculine heartthrob…he’s not Aragorn…he’s not even Jon Snow. He’s a villain for most of the series and still pretty shitty even after his ‘redemption.’ The suave, seductive cassanova that pulls Katara away from Aang in Zutara fics, seduces Suki away from Sokka in Zuki fics, and somehow shares Sokka and Suki as a throuple in Zukki fics (lol, Zuko sharing?) is nowhere to be found in canon material. Fanon Zuko a totally contrived character invented by the ATLA fandom. Call it Zukophilia, Zuko Deification, Zuko Horny Disease, whatever—but it’s just straight dumbassery.
I mean, if Kataang isn't for you (not specifically "you" anon, but "you" in general), that's one thing, but stanning this dumbass who isn't fit to polish Aang's moonpeaches? The hell? This complete douche couldn't even keep from insulting a girl he was on a date on and another girl who for some reason liked him got literally robbed.
This idea that Zuko's dick is supreme and that everyone who ever set an eye on him wanted to bust it wide open for him is fucking bullshit. The Zuko that exist in this raw sewage of a fandom has made a completely different character because they know this idiot's racist, colonizing-sympathizer ass is garbage as he's constituted in the show.
The knowledge that Gene Luen Yang is a Zutara trashfuck answers a lot of my questions about the comics, because in what fucking world would Suki be begging Zuko to talk to her? Zutara is fucking garbage, but Zuki is truly nonsense. What person in their right mind looks at Zuko and looks at Sokka and decides they're going to bend over for the ugly colonizer who nearly burned down their home?
So yeah, anon, we're basically on the same page -- not on Kataang, because I live and die on the Kataang hill -- but def as far as fanon Zuko being a complete fucking fabrication because canon Zuko is such an asshole and the Zuko trashfuck stans can't take the truth.

Zuki for the ask game?
vomit / don’t ship / okay / cute / adorable / perfect / beyond flawless / hot damn / screaming and crying / i will ship them in hell
I kind of get why this is a thing, but in my opinion, Sukka is the only endgame ship the show got right. Suki and Sokka stayed together until death did they part. In an alternate universe where Sokka and Katara didn't exist, sure I could see it, but I wouldn't change Suki and Sokka's relationship for anything.
