2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom

LOOK. I'm not going to bust out the power point presentation and excel charts, not when I can just point you all to this:

Members of the jury, does this look like someone who wants to be in charge all the time? Does this look like someone who would not get tired of having everyone depend on him? Does this look like someone who does not deserve to be seen as a person who can sit back on some dick and relax, once the suit comes off? I rest my case.

Look, I realize that top/bottom aren't, realistically speaking, fixed categories, and in theory, I wouldn't mind a fic where Steve switches (off the top of my head, Hafital's Starborn and Stormbreaker's series has Steve and Thor as switches and it's excellent). HOWEVER, consider that:

-I prefer bottom!Steve (because, once you're in the minority that likes Steve, why not go full minority and like bottom!Steve as well);

-I have encountered far too many fics where the other half of the pairing being the bottom makes them even more of an annoying wooby that Steve has to take care of with his dick as well to even want to try reading anything other than bottom!Steve;

-I prefer bottom!Steve;

-Fics where Steve is a top and/or dom read too OoC for me -especially the dom!Steve ones. I don't see him enjoying giving out orders or punishment or whatever. Now, following them? He'd be so good. Such a good boy;

-I prefer bottom!Steve (which isn't to say that all bottom!Steve fics are my jam, because I do feel there's a fair bit of oocness in there as well. Still, I'd take that over the opposite, because guess what? I prefer bottom!Steve).

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

Ready for the violence? The choices Steve Rogers makes throughout his movies are not as influenced by B*cky B*rnes as fandom likes to think -sincerely, a St*cky shipper who was here when St*cky barely had 1k fics to their name. It always drives me crazy when Steve being anti-Accords is boiled down to him opposing 100+ countries for Bucky. I know it sounds romantic, I know fandom has a thing for Steve being all crazy in love with Bucky, but this is such a disservice to his character (as if he doesn't get enough shit for being anti-accords anyway) that it put me off the fandom.

They have so many ship-worthy moments (Steve literally putting himself between B*cky and a murderous T0ny, B*cky stepping in to protect Steve), why reach that hard. It just ends up putting sane people off.

i think your theory about why huntric is more popular than gustholomule is partially correct but also. a lot of the fandom is teenagers who find 16 year old characters hot but are not attracted to the 12 (or maybe 13 now) year old bc he's too young for them. definitely sus when adults do it though

Yeah, I mean I'm not really interested in discussing the nuances of what teenagers find attractive I'm a grown ass adult and I am not gonna concern myself with whatever the teenage fans are doing or thinking and yeah, there's a lot of teens in the TOH fandom as there should be considering it's a show literally meant for them, but I'm gonna go out on a lim and say most of the prominent artists in the fandom who've been chruning out H*ntric content since Hunter's first face reveal are not teenagers and are in fact the same breed of fangirl that I was hoping and praying would go extinct with the J*hnlocks and the St*reks and the D*stiels and the St*ckys, the ones who always put the two pretty white men together and then gaslit themselves into thinking the show will make the ship canon one day if they just push hard enough and complain loud enough (in the case St*rek i know at least one of them got a woc love interest and you would not believe the vitriol they threw at that poor woman im just glad Willow's animated so there isnt an actress with her own face attached to the character having to deal with harassment).

I've just been in fandom spaces for a very long time and I saw this whole Huntlow anti drama coming a mile away when the first H*ntric ship posts dropped, I didn't know Willow would fall victim to the woc love interest curse but I did know that whatever the show did with Hunter was going to upset a very particular type of fan iykwim 🙄

As for Gustholomule I'm sorry, but idk if im willing to accept their age as the big reason their ship posts get less than a fourth the notes that H*ntric does, I mean look at the Supersons ship those two are even younger than Gustholomule and they've got a giant fanbase. I think there's a reason why the ship with two brown boys gets a hundred notes per fanart and the one with two white twinks gets ten thousand but thats none of my business i guess 🫖🤷‍♀️

Everyone knows why the antis attack Seb for shipping something else other than st///cky more than they do CEvans. CEvans may be out here shipping stony but he doesn’t get as much crap because it’s not a ~straight ship~. There’s less ‘problematic’ things to ‘call him out’ on.

That’s it. That’s literally it. They attack Seb for shipping Buckynat because it’s easy to claim problematic/homophobic all because he happened to like a canon straight ship. They also attack EVC for Staron even though she only did her part written for her. They claim they’re all for women but guess who gets the short stick on these things? Hint: the women. They’re only for women if it’s not in the way of their gay ship. “[Woman] deserves better” then turn around and say “these boys are the best”, so you know they only really mean those women aren’t great when they’re with men. It’s poor disguise of feminism, and honestly, I think that’s got sexist undertones because they’re basically saying they’re less when they’re with men counterparts.

What about Tony getting shit? Well, they attack Tony because simple: He’s not Bucky. You can say Tony and Steve had more relationship arc than Bucky and Steve but they’re not going to accept that because Tony isn’t Bucky. You can say Tony was suffering PTSD and guilt just like Bucky but they’re not gonna allow that because he’s not Bucky.

ho boy. so st*cky is one of those ships where i absolutely see why people ship it and don’t have anything against it in theory, but i will not read anything that has it. like i’m at the point where i’ve actually blacklisted all the tags lol.

i think the two main reasons i don’t ship it is because 1. i was already such a stony shipper by 2014 when it really got Big and 2. when TWS first came out i was neck deep in xmen/cherik fandom, i didn’t even watch the movie until several months later. by that point i was pretty ambivalent about it

and then the fandom killed it for me lol. that’s actually the biggest reason probably, since tony has always been my favorite character and there’s (generally) a huge anti-tony sentiment in the st*cky side of the fandom. which is fine, i guess, i’m not here to tell anyone that they should like/dislike certain characters, but it just made it impossible for me to ever get into the ship. ESPECIALLY after cacw came out.

reading long impassioned criticisms of IW and EG from st*cky shippers and I feel a weird disconnect where I’m like... I guess they’re not wrong but also I just can’t care that much and it doesn’t damage my enjoyment of those movies.

I remember when they first came out I was more upset about Gamora’s death than anything else and it was my only real complaint (because I still believe that Thanos should not have been rewarded by the soul stone for killing her, because the very act of killing her proved that he did not truly love her. With Natasha, at least her decision to die was her own, and Clint getting the soul stone felt more like Natasha earned it than he did... not that I’m a huge fan of how Natasha died but it was better than Gamora’s death).

At the same time, the Captain America trilogy movies are my favorite of the MCU movies and I loved the canon dynamic between Steve and Bucky though I never shipped them, so I recognize that it was a departure for the Avengers movies to keep the characters apart and downplay the significance of their shared history and unique situation as men out of time, so even without shipping it romantically you do notice the difference between the Captain America movies where it’s a central focus and IW/EG where it’s an afterthought. But I didn’t feel blindsided at all by the Steggy endgame in EG because there’s so much more than st*cky going on in the Captain America movies and Steggy is a presence in all of them. Steve’s relationship with Peggy, Sam, Tony, and Natasha are all pretty important in the Captain America trilogy. It’s not just about Steve and Bucky. Full disclosure I love Steggy so maybe this post really is just steggy vs st*cky saltiness. Ah well.

I do also side-eye any meta that comes across as explicitly or vaguely anti-SamBucky (shipping or just friendship dynamic) because that raises alarms in my mind that the person doesn’t really value Sam Wilson or his importance in the franchise and resents the fact that Sam is now the most important person in Bucky’s life instead of Steve. To be honest I’m so glad Steve is out of the picture and Sam and Bucky are having their day in the sun, not so much because of canon but because of fandom. I have trouble feeling sympathy over the hand wringing and wank about the MCU purposefully sabotaging st*cky because st*cky shippers have been SO ANNOYING for so many years to the point where the rest of the fandom starts hating the characters and the actors are visibly uncomfortable at conventions while being asked about it. So when a st*cky writes anti-endgame meta and says it’s not just because they shipped st*cky, I kinda want to say... yes it is. It is, in fact, because st*cky is your ride or die ship. I don’t have the same deeply negative reaction and I’m pretty sure it’s because I didn’t ship it so hard and went into those movies looking for more than just a very specific interaction between two characters.

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you? This is maybe a weird answer because I’ve only even seen the first Captain America movie but I’ve seen a lot of obnoxious St*cky shippers that make me kind of anti that ship. I’m not sure that’s a great answer because the question kind of implies it should be a pairing I did ship until fandom ruined it. I hadn’t gotten in enough to ship anyone and was already kind of over that ship.

10. Most disliked arc? Why? Elementary’s Joan and Mycroft retcon was gross but does it count as an arc? I think they pushed too hard to wedge Mycroft into the show and kind of ruined him as a character. I think he could have been more interesting if they hadn’t gone in some of the directions they went and even then I might have been okay if they’d just let Joan stay mad at him.

My other answer for this is the interminable Peter Pan arc on Once Upon a Time that was an absolute slog to get through and just dull dull dull. There were some interesting character decisions and revelations in there (plus Rose McIver as Tinkerbell) but none of it was worth the patience it took to get through. (To be fair: it may have been less terrible on a week by week basis. Marathoning the whole series in a few weeks really magnified the boredom of that arc though.

15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show? I think Rory and Logan were actually pretty good together in Gilmore Girls. And I think Logan was only with someone else in the revival because Rory had turned down his proposal in the final season of the show. I think it makes total sense that he’d still be seeing her in whatever way worked for her but wouldn’t push for more or even count on more. His being engaged was like working for his father: none of that was his “real life” which I think he kind of gave up when Rory turned him down. I think if Rory said she wanted him full time (which she won’t because ... it’s circling back to the whole premise of the show with the ‘final three words’ being planned from the start) then Logan would move planets to make that happen. (Most people in the GG fandom seem to prefer Rory and Jess and even if they aren’t pro Jess they seem to hate Logan. I didn’t like him for a long time but I guess I’m a Logan defender now.)

20. What is the purest ship in the fandom? People who gif x things that haven’t actually released yet. They are so passionate and hopeful and can take the same few seconds of footage in a teaser trailer and make it into so many amazing things. Once the thing is out the disappointments and frustrations come out.. but in those early days they are a magical pairing.

25. How would you end XXX/Would you change the ending of XXX? The best series finale of a show to me has always been the ending of Quantum Leap. At the time of writing/filming they didn’t know if they were going to actually get another season or not so it’s this perfect blend of resolution and open ended that just sits really really well with me. I judge all series finales by that yardstick and few measure up. It’s a super hard balance to manage of course but I love that it leaves fandom an open playground while still resolving things just enough. Plus they fixed the one thing that had most bothered me about the show: how Sam dealt with the situation with Al’s wife.

So I’d have more endings like that in fandom if I had the magic fix-it wand.

Wrote this last night right when I saw this nasty ill written crap, but got too tired to post my response. I'm not usually one to go off like this, especially on such a badly written post that has no logic in it but it's getting ridiculous as predictable with this particular part of the fandom, and I'm ANNOYED, so humor me I guess😂 “Bucky has only shown love to one person in the mcu world and that is his husband steve ( they married in my head okay ?” -First off "married in your head" ok wow you literally have to imagine it in your head.... Ok already off to a bad start on why nothing you said made any sense, yeah I don't think that means st*cky is or will ever be canon😂 “you could at least recognize me.” "i personally think she meant the times the soldier tried to kill her??" -Marvel leaves Easter eggs for each film that will lead to future events. The tiny reveal from Zola in TWS of the winter soldier possibly killing the Starks is a brief scene in that film that most forgot and it turned out to a HUGE turning point in CW. Don't think russos would leave the line "you could at least recognize me" from Nat to Bucky if it meant nothing, when it could easily allude to their comic canon past. The russos have said it numerous times, they are huge geeks when it comes to comics and grew up reading them( I can completely relate😊) so the possibility of comic book references and relationships being valid & made canon (see staron&scarletvision) being in their films is endless! " if she was as memorable to him as you shippers think then how come he didn’t recognize her in the winter soldier and in civil war?" -CW was packed with scenes, and the only scene (shown to us) of him not in winter soldier mode when he's around her is when she helps him and Steve escape. And the scene is brief. Had it shown him look directly at her and nothing then maybe he didn't recognize her. But the camera didn't focus on either of them seeing each other. So it is still open for a moment in the next film for him to see her. "now their relationship in the comics ( only place where it’s canon ) is toxic , he trained her from childhood to adulthood" -We can't stress this enough to you antis at this point y'all are actively choosing to ignore facts or just don't actually do research, NAT MET AND WAS TRAINED BY BUCKY IN COMICS AS AN ADULT!!!!! She was around the age of 29 I believe?... Either way, full grown ADULT this false narrative of her being a child was MADE UP and probably taken from someone's fanfic or fan art, who knows. "seb doesn’t ship it" -we can assume Seb does ship it, or at least wants it to happen. Cause he said so in interviews he would like for it to happen..... So idk why y'all are lying about that. A lot of people say it's only cause of scarjo, and while yes she's gorgeous and that's probably a bonus, Sebastian is a fantastic actor who HAS READ COMICS AS RESEARCH and understands the bond his character Bucky and the character Natasha have, as they come from the same place and have similar experiences. Both forced to kill. Both punished for loving eachother. They're partnership in the modern era is built off of trust and they treat each other equally. What's abusive about that...... "Bucky and her have no chemistry whatsoever ever" -we are waiting for them to have a scene where they actually TALK... So how can you even make that assumption ?? Ever heard of development?? Writers and directors tend give characters development as each film goes along. People praise the chemistry between Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, but not until TWS film, even though they had some scenes in the avengers prior to that film. Those characters were given development, like all characters do. So if they plan on doing Buckynat, we will obviously be waiting and be excited for SOME development. " nat doesn’t deserve being made to hop on one WHITE male’s cock to another every movie." -Wow y'all know she has only been with Bruce and it didn't really work out. She has had been FRIENDS with other males, independent strong women are aloud to have friends or be in a relationship. Quit acting like you care about her when all you're doing is trying to get her away from half of your ship. The vulgar wording y'all use really seems like you're just slut shaming her. All in all, I'm fine with different opinions, but not from people ( all from a particular fandom most often) who ignore facts and well given clues, and then turn around and tell off people who acknowledge and choose to enjoy what is given and possibly will be given to them. If Buckynat happens, IT HAPPENS, all of the antis coming out to bash this ship this week seems in time with that photo of Scarlett and Sebastian. YOU GUYS are the ones making a bigger deal out of it then the shippers. A lot of us were happy because it goes with a previous rumor that they may begin filming at the same time, so they could have scenes, THATS IT!! The antis are the ones who seem very confident it will happen because of how much time they've spent the last few days trying to debunk the possibility of it happening . If one photo is enough to get you to spew so much hate into the Buckynat tag on tumblr/twitter and even Instagram and tag Sebastian in it (I've seen this), maybe your ship is not as great as you think it is. Honestly I don’t even consider this an OTP bc I’m so ??? but like….phl/int?? I just. Do not understand. And to this day. Still do not. And yet it’s sUCH a huge one in the fandom???? somehow??????

Honestly I kind of have an idea of some of the impetus but that is something I don’t even want to get into right now lmao.

5.Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

oH BOY, has it 8) 8). e.g. I literally Cannot with st*cky bc of the shit some of the nastier ppl put us (st/ony/tony fans through) back in the day. Like…..I literally had to blacklist bc I cannot even look at them 8) and every time I wanted to find Steve meta it was all st*cky stuff somehow. Plus, there was a time when the prevailing characterization (or at least that I saw) was really REALLY like……codependent and stuff? Like honestly I didn’t even hate/dislike any other ships at first, I even watched Kings just for Seb Stan?? Who I thought was great in it, he’s got a real way of angsting wordlessly that’s really effective. And also benefited him as the Winter Soldier. But like……I have him blacklisted now because I just 8) 8) when I see that/stucky stuff.

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

the fact that canon is just so *massages temples* like all the time? Like honestly, on one hand I get the whole “ignore canon and enjoy it anyway” dealio, but on the other hand, I actually AM really resentful that I was trying to get into comics RIGHT as there was just…so much shit going on? Like I think one big moment I remember was during AXIS, which is…yikes. and then SIM, which we don’t talk about, which is more yikes? And then idk some other stuff, and incursions and prevailing grimdark culture (like it was all “hah, you thought superheroes would save you? Think again, NO ONE can save ANYONE!” like. c’mon, guys. You still WANT to make money, right?), and then whatever the heck secret wars/battleworld was. And then CWII???? and then Neo-Nazis Everywhere now. So like. y i kes.

and I wasn’t even really around during the first CW, and I’m already incredibly tired of it everywhere, including in MCU. Plus, I feel like Steve has been REALLY getting the short end of the stick with regards to everything. He’s sort of been at the mercy of whoever’s writing, and I kind of get the feeling ppl have just been sublimating their own vision of who the Captain America ideal should be (or subverting it for grimdark ~gritty~ ~realism~) and then extrapolating Steve from that, even though they COULD have done interesting stuff with juxtaposing those standards, Steve’s own moral standards, and maybe the conflict between him being a symbol for people but having his own views and stuff. I only just now in CW feel like I REALLY got a sense of who Steve is as a character, but unfortunately what coalesced is hardly flattering to the character :/

And like……honestly there’s a lot of stuff fandom-side, too. Off hand, I don’t think there’s much I hate about the Stevetony fandom? but I guess in terms of who I think about for that, it’s a specific subset of people I’ve seen around and interacted with or have followed for a bit. Like I haven’t really followed anyone new for a while now. but the marvel fandom at large….like….yike…………..the MCU fandom…… so much yike there. That specific subset of shippers who still think shipping is a great expression of LGBT allyship, who are the ones going “who do people even ship xxx??”, or just like….hating on people lmao.

Another thing I lowkey hate that isn’t necessarily directed at individual ppl is like….when non-Stevetony/tony fans are like “wow why are stevetony/tony fans so hateful/mean, they keep calling Steve a snake” or w.e Like….I get it bc they’re part of, e.g. the stucky fandom, and they’ve had the blessing of only coming into contact with nice ppl and never was on the receiving end of attacks or bullshit. But boy howdy, have Stevetony/Tony fans Been Through Some Shit. There’s a lot of, honestly, hurt there, and part of it is we spent so much time like mild about it and apologetic and we want some turnabout. It’s like that one tumblr post that’s like “fuck anyone who says forgive them ‘for my sake’ I’ve worked hard to hate them,” like for a LONG time, we were like “yes we love Tony, yes we know he’s not perfect, yes we acknowledge his flaws,” like we couldn’t just straight-up say we loved him as a character, we had to caveat it, and it was seen as a perfectly normalized part of the experience, to expect someone to come like “okay but also he’s evil because xxx” and have to be like “yeah okay we acknowledge xxxx but xxx.” Honestly I will fight for the right of ppl to their salt and try to contextualize as much as I can when I see stuff like that. bc you may not know but we haven’t forgotten :’)

There’s also a thing where I can’t tell if they’re in the stevetony fandom or they just….make posts, but those like …. “relatable” shipping posts that I sometimes will see bc mobile will rec it? Like I honestly hate those lmao. I find them cringey and painful to see. (those ones that are like “people think I’m so sweet and innocent but really I’m thinking of my gay ship fucking” or w.e like. maybe at some point I was like “omg same!” but now I’m like “please get this away from my face.” Or those ones where it’s like chat format like “isn’t xx sad?” “yeah isn’t it sad my ship isn’t canon?” or whatever like. D: D: that just makes me nnnoOOOOooooOOOOOooo inside. If you search a smattering of tumblr popular ships in tumb search You Will See Them. like, if you search johnlock destiel sterek or something like that. bc these ppl tag them with a million ship tags)

on that vein, really anyone tagging stuff with like character/ship tags that, imo, really....aren’t so much abt the ship but about themselves? Like, someone tagged their salt ask answer post with the character tags and I had to see someone say they don’t like stevetony and think comics Tony is a dick. Can You Think Before You Goddamn Tag pls and just Not. like ppl who bARELY mention Tony and still tag him in the tags........you realize it’s all going in a page right? it’s not just for your own blog? (but even then, what use is it to your blog when you mostly say “yeah I’ll be talking about him a lot!” but don’t.....actually say much about him.....in your post.............

There is still a lot of tony hating but honestly I’ve got so many ppl blocked now that I see more ppl referencing the antis in the tags (ugh) than I do actually antis anywhere. which honestly also kind of annoys me bc like. I am going into the Tony tag for content on my fave not content on the antis.

I think honestly the closest is probably Coulson lmao. Like. I just. Don’t see the appeal in him as a character at all. And recently I was watching a bunch of vid compilations for Iron Man and EVERY TIME there was like “and there’s someone else you pissed off. his name is phil” i”m like “:/ :/ but did that part REALLY have to be there??” like sure I get it it’s their vid compilation. But just. What Is The Appeal.

And honestly……I’m kind of :/ about MCU Clint, too? Like, Fraction’s Hawkeye is awesome, but somehow that doesn’t really register as Clint to me. AA’s Clint is fine, but for some reason my mind tends to default to MCU Clint unless there’s further elaboration, and I just :/ :/ >:( re: him.

Stu,cky, that piece of the crap ship, wouldn’t be as disgusting as it is if it wasn’t for shippers, which to be true - can be said about 99% of ships anyway.

Still, I cringe mentally anytime I see it anywhere at this point so badly I need to block it out.

First of all: a lot of stuc,ky shippers take a lot of it from comics, and guess what, comic b,ucky is freaking awful and i hate everything about him. But the point is that when they meet, bu,cky is a minor, looks up to ste,ve, and stev,e drags him into ww2 battlefield which ends up with bucky dead.

Still; too close of mentor-prodigy, superhero-sidekick relationship for me to stomach it. Like. Just no. It’s teacher and pet situation stop.

Welp since bucky and steve in comic is awful let’s look at the not so awful movie relationship.

Honestly, I love the way they reworked Bu,cky in ste,ve/buc,ky relationship. In the end - even if bucky would still be a kid it’d not stop anyone (st*rker is awful let it die).

Two guys, having an amazing friendship the one that goes out and beyond, one where the other will always take care of one another, could kill and die for him, and would stay by his side forever. Awesome.

Honestly, it isn’t that this is a bad relationship to ship, it’s just that... there are so many reasons not to.

First of all - for some god damn reason this awful ship is one of the most popular ships in existence.

Meanwhile, Ir,onHusbands (R,hodey/Ton,y) barely exists in this fandom

I got attacked because I sided with peggy roleplayer who rightfully got angry about erasing that awesome character for the sake of this awful ship. People actually got angry that st.eve is obviously still in love with her in movies and are like “he shouldve get over it by now ://// theyre just homophobic :///”

because they dont want to see that the undying love crap that can survive anything doesnt apply to their ship but actually canon relationship and they're god damn salty about this.

I hate more of Stucky shippers than the relationship itself tbh

steve visited him, bucky was capable of fighting, he just didnt want to

bucky would be never happy by steve rogers side because steve’s nightmare in ultron is knowing that he can never have a happy domestic life because hes a soldier

So let’s sum up:

stucky in comics is awful on so many levels lets just leave it at that

stucky in mcu would be an unhappy, unhealthy relationship with either one of them sacrificing themselves for the other and probably not being able to survive it for long

James and Steve were fighting about morals in first cap right before james left, like

how some people think they are so similiar when every piece of evidence just shows us theyre literally opposites in a way. That’s why they got so much along as friends. That’s why they’d never be able to truly coexist in long lasting romantic relationship.

Stucky is bad.

The Vans Warped Tour release 2017 lineup!

The Warped Tour 2017 edition has its lineup, and it's as diverse as it comes. From death metal to pop to ska punk to hip hop and emo, there's a handful of bands for most young people. Of course, there was a leak over the weekend with the suspected lineup for the Cincinnati date. This was hours before I went and photographed two of the bands on the leaked lineup, Trophy Eyes, and Boston Manor. I refused to post the leak images or lineup because I just fucking hate that kind of shit, and it happens every year.

It makes me wish Kevin Lyman would send out fake press releases for a fake lineup and then fucking trick every asshole who said they were "underwhelmed" by the lineup. Unless you have curated events on a massive scale, how can you be so critical about this shit? If you don't like a lineup for a show, do you go? No! So what is the difference with the festival circuit? Is it because you feel like you own it? Like it's just for you? Well, not everything is for your kiddos. So hopefully I will see many of you who see through that bull shit. Now let's get to the lineup! See? Not that bad at all. I actually think it's fucking impressive. There are legends on this tour. Sick of it All, GWAR!, Hatebreed, The Adolescents, TSOL, Strung Out, The Suicide Machines. If you haven't heard of these bands, educate yourselves on them and understand some of them are a privilege to see on this tour. These are artists who helped shape genres and some are the reason half the bands on this list even exist. Harcore punk legends SOIA... how the fuck do you get to death metal without punk music? I guess it's easy nowadays but it hasn't always been that way. It was gradual you know?

Now how do you get to emo and pop punk without punk music either? It's all kind of relative. If we did a damn flow chart you would have to get through punk to get to almost every heavy genre around. There's a reason metalheads love the Misfits and Dead Kennedys and Bad Religion.

I love the back and forth between the heaviest of genres, or the more punk shit, or the emo and pop punk stuff that will always be a good time. I get it, I was 17 too once. I know how it feels to grow up going to this festival. I get why people get pissed, but like I said before, not everything is for everyone and that's ok. It's not to be exclusionary at all, it's to actually open your mind to new ideas and sounds and influences. I didn't get to the point where I wanted my face melted off by bands like Carnifex and The Acacia Strain and the 2017 lineup of Emmure, without years of moshing to punk and dancing to ska music. Way back when hall shows were still happening around these parts and I was playing, throwing, and going to these shows weekly, it was normal to have 4 or 5 different types of music in one show. Those were always my favorite. Emo to ska to punk to hardcore punk to metal or some variation of that kind of build up. The rad thing about a seven-stage festival is that each person can have a completely different experience than the person next to them. Warped Tour for me has always been the gateway festival. If you can do an all day Warped Tour from gates open to gates close, you should be able to handle most weekend festivals. Hope to see you all there and check out the dates below.
