Seriously, Screw Lorne Michaels! Read this:

Note
SNL has been problematic before and for today's episode, not only did they had Nikki Haley in the cold opening of the episode hosted by Ayo Edebiri, the host for the next episode will be Shane Gillis, who was originally gonna be an snl cast member but got fired due to clips of him saying a bunch of anti-asian jokes, and yet for some reason, but that doesn't stop him from being a host on snl
He has also been called out for making homophobic statements as well. But yeah, it's been rather frustrating to watch him become this martyr-like figure for dirtbag comedians. I also garner that becos he was actually in Pete Davidson's sitcom Bupkis, he might actually have connections to SNL creator Lorne Michaels which would explain the opportunities hes been getting. Anyways, I'm not actually that surprised, SNL has a history of platforming really shitty people (like Elon Musk, Dan Crenshaw, Dave Chappelle etc) and making bigoted and applogist jokes, it should be boycotted.

The Best Saturday Night Live Musical Performances Ever

The Best Saturday Night Live Musical Performances Ever
Tumblr media
Saturday Night Live has been a staple of the comedy community and pop culture for a long time, but it’s also had a great tradition of highlighting musical talent.
1.
Jack White (2020)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
After SNL canceled country singer Morgan Wallen’s show for violating COVID protocol, they scrambled to find a new act in time for the show. With two day’s notice, Jack White was finally selected and wound up putting on one of the greatest shows in SNL’s history.
NPR partially chalks this up to the fact that, since it was a last-minute get, White didn’t have anything to promote: “a veteran star without much to promote or prove, popping by with the sole objective of putting on the best show humanly possible.”
Another factor that makes this such a memorable show is that White honored Eddie Van Halen, the legendary guitarist who had recently passed at the time. That blue guitar he played with was custom designed by Halen and White.
As White says on his Instagram: “I thought it could be a nice gesture for me to use this blue Eddie Van Halen model guitar for one of the songs tonight on SNL. The guitar was designed by Eddie (with a few customizations I had added). Eddie was very kind to me and saw to it that this guitar was made for me to my specs. I won’t even insult the man’s talent by trying to play one of his songs tonight. Thanks again Eddie for this guitar and rest in peace sir.”
2.
Nirvana (1992)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
It’s easy to see why this Nirvana show is many people’s top pick for the greatest SNL gig of all time. Nirvana sounds incredible, with Cobain singing “Smells Like Teen Spirit” just as perfectly as he does on the famous MTV Unplugged set. Nirvana was huge by 1992, but it was still the first time many were exposed to the grunge band.
Not wanting people to get too comfy, Nirvana followed up “Teen Spirit” with “Territorial Pissings,” a song that wasn’t as radio-friendly. And ensuring no one would call them sellouts by appearing on SNL, they ended the show with Krist Novoselic tossing his bass guitar in the air, Dave Grohl slamming his drum onto the stage, piece by piece, and Kurt Cobain slamming his guitar into an amplifier to generate loud feedback. Chef’s kiss.
3.
Elvis Costello (1977)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
You can’t talk about SNL musical guests without talking about Elvis Costello. After being explicitly told by his record label and SNL showrunner, Lorne Michaels,  to not play his anti-media song, “Radio, Radio,” can you guess what Costello did? He did what any self-respecting rocker would and cut his first song short to switch to “Radio, Radio,” getting him banned from the show for 15 years.
It wound up working out for Costello because he was invited back for the show’s 25th-anniversary show to “interrupt” the Beastie Boys and play “Radio, Radio” once more.
4.
The Blues Brothers (1978)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
There have been plenty of cases where the host is also the musical guest on SNL, but the Blues Brothers are a rare case in which a sketch turned into a band. Initially appearing in a 1976 sketch, the Blues Brothers didn’t have their official debut until ’78. In a memorable first performance that led to a double-platinum album and a classic film, the Blues Brothers got their start on this episode 44 years ago.
5.
Kanye West (2013)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
SNL performances are often part of an artist’s promotion of a new album, and this was especially true for Ye’s 2013 show. Yeezus had intentionally minimal marketing. The only word people had gotten about the album before this show was a single tweet from Ye simply saying, “June Eighteen,” and video projections of the song “New Slaves” in various locations.
So when Ye performed “Black Skinhead” and “New Slaves” on SNL in May of 2013, it was the first taste of one of his best albums. Yeezus wouldn’t be released for another month, and the intense show on SNL was the perfect buildup to it.
6.
Simon & Garfunkel (1975)
7.
David Bowie (1979)
NBC
Bringing his signature surrealist style, David Bowie was joined on stage by Joey Arias and Klaus Nomi for his first performance on SNL. It was an important moment in terms of Bowie’s talent as a musician, but it also featured themes of non-traditional sexuality, as Hilton Als elaborates on in this New Yorker blurb:
“Like a lot of kids who came of age in the eighties, I watched the North Carolina native Joey Arias and his close friend Klaus Nomi, the late German-born performance artist, back David Bowie on Saturday Night Live while singing “TVC 15,” in December 1979. It was a seminal moment. There, on the small screen, was sexuality shown as a fluid, not fixed thing, and in such beautifully tailored costuming, too.”
8.
The White Stripes (2002)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
Introduced by John McCain (really), Meg and Jack White tear through their set with the group’s characteristic set up of just drums and lead guitar — and it’s perfect.
9.
Billie Eilish (2019)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
As “bad guy” was dominating the radio, Billie Eilish took to SNL and performed on a rotating stage that would make Lionel Richie and Christopher Nolan proud. The set is especially impressive considering it was built for just a single song on live television.
12.
Taylor Swift (2021)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
Returning for her fifth appearance as a musical guest, Taylor Swift shook up the formula of SNL. Instead of performing twice over the course of the show, she performed her entire 10-minute cut of “All Too Well” as her one song.
13.
Kendrick Lamar (2014)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
In between the release of good kid, m.A.A.d city, and To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar performed “i” and “Pay For It” on SNL. He was one of the biggest rappers in the world at the time, and was just at the start of showing people what he was capable of.
14.
Childish Gambino (2018)
17.
Haim (2013)
View this video on YouTube
NBC / youtube.com
Performing “The Wire” and “Don’t Save Me,” Haim’s appearance on SNL came shortly before they set off on a US tour. Este Haim said that the show was an emotional moment for her because a high school drama teacher had once said to her: “You’re never going to be on Saturday Night Live,” which is insulting but also oddly specific.
19.
Miley Cyrus (2020)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
In a special “Saturday Night Live At Home” performance, Miley Cyrus covered the iconic Pink Floyd song, “Wish You Were Here,” while sitting next to a fire. The song’s tender lyrics were especially profound in the middle of a pandemic that was keeping everyone isolated.
20.
Paul Simon & George Harrison (1976)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
Paul Simon is back, and this time with former Beatle, George Harrison. The two musicians, arguably in their prime, perform a beautiful acoustic version of “Here Comes the Sun.”
21.
The Rolling Stones (1978)
22.
Madonna (1993)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
Performing a cover of Peggy Lee’s “Fever” that would fit well in a nightclub, as well as “Bad Girl,” Madonna delivered a smooth performance in what has been her only musical appearance on the show.
24.
Tom Petty & Dave Grohl (1994)
25.
Paul McCartney (2010)
26.
Debbie Harry (1981)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
Debbie Harry (the lead singer of the group Blondie) served as both host and musical guest in this 1981 episode. We all know she can sing, but she also showed her comedy chops in the opening monologue alone.
27.
Rage Against the Machine (1996)
NBC
Steve Forbes was hosting this week in 1996, and needless to say, Rage Against the Machine aren’t the biggest fans of Republican billionaires. Legend has it that the band hung upside-down American flags onstage to protest Forbes, but producers took them down before the cameras started rolling.
28.
U2 (2004)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
U2 has been a huge band for a very long time, but that doesn’t mean every one of their albums has been a hit. At a time when they were going through a string of albums that weren’t exactly topping the Billboard, this performance that promoted How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb reminded everyone what makes U2 so good.
29.
Arcade Fire (2007)
NBC
With nine musicians on the stage, you can feel how full Arcade Fire’s sound is even through a video. Bringing plenty of energy, and with Win Butler sounding as good as he does on an album, the show can still give you chills 15 years later.
30.
Patti Smith (1976)
NBC
Performing a cover of The Who’s “My Generation” and “Gloria,” Patti Smith delivered a loud, brash, frenetic performance that not everyone appreciated at the time, but has stood as one of the great performances in SNL’s history.
31.
Lizzo (2019)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
Lizzo famously released her hit song “Truth Hurts” long before she became a household name. So it wasn’t until 2019, two full years after she released the song, that she performed it and “Good As Hell” on SNL in an amazing set.
32.
Chance The Rapper (2019)
NBC
Also serving as host, Chance performed “Zanies and Fools” and “Handsome” with some help from Megan Thee Stallion and adorable footage of his daughter.
33.
Coldplay (2019)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
With a unique opening that had frontman Chris Martin walking through the backstages of 30 Rock before coming onstage, Coldplay performed “Orphans” and “Everyday Life” in an incredibly memorable show.
34.
Harry Styles (2019)
View this video on YouTube
NBC
In performing “Lights Up” and his hit single, “Watermelon Sugar,” Styles brought the energy and charisma you’d expect from any one of his shows.

FINAL BRAIN CANDY OPINIONS:
i liked it!! it's not my favorite movie but tbh i think it's worth revisiting for people who haven't checked it out in years. i'll definitely watch it again at some point
i was surprised by how much of a kevin project it was! he was great in it tho and it made me appreciate his talent so much more. was not expecting him to carry the film so much but he did!
conversely, i was surprised and a little sad about how little dave content there was. ik dave's relationship with the other kids was Not Great during filming (scott literally said he didn't speak to dave at all during that time except when they had a scene together) but to have him barely show up at all somehow made this more noticeable than if he'd had a large role with obvious tension. especially since dave and kevin are so often a package deal on the show (no pun intended)
i would literally die for alice she's so cute i love bruce girls
was mark's character supposed to sound exactly like his lorne michaels impression lmaooo
i was honestly surprised by how little of a reaction i had to cancer boy??? like this is such a divisive character but i really wasn't offended by it at all but i also didn't laugh at any of his scenes??? it was just neutral?
there were several scenes that were in the trailer that weren't in the movie so i'm very curious what happened with those
any time two characters played by bruce/scott/etc were in the same room or talking to each other i was literally like :O!!!!
tho tbh my BIGGEST takeaway from brain candy is that i'm fascinated by the fact that they chose this surreal dark-comedy-anti-capitalist story about depression as the premise for their first (and unfortunately only) official movie as The Kids In The Hall. like when you look at the monty python movies (which were referenced in the documentary as the model the kids originally intended to follow, doing the sketch show for five seasons then releasing a movie every few years) sure there are some philosophical elements but you mostly get these zany stories where the plot stakes are mostly incidental and the draw is primarily individual comedic moments. and yeah brain candy is wild and has a lot of these sketch-like moments but it really just has this genuine darkness to it that demands to be taken seriously. sure this is particularly because of the context around its production, and the kids in the hall have always explored these kinds of anti-capitalist dark comedy mental illness related topics (again i point to the long note as one of my favorite sketches that's also dark as hell), but i'm super curious why they chose this concept
anyway i'm going to start Death Comes to Town tomorrow so stay tuned for my opinions on that!!

Review: The People's Joker (2022)
Just because I left Fort Lauderdale, and with it Popcorn Frights, behind when I moved to Boston last year doesn't mean I have to give up on horror festivals. And just as I managed to sneak in a trip to the Telluride Horror Show amidst my adventures in Utah back in 2022, so too did I find that -- where else? -- Salem, Massachusetts hosted the annual Salem Horror Show in April and May. Tonight was the first night, and they screened one of the festival's token non-horror films in The People's Joker, a queer Batman spoof made without any official approval from DC Comics or Warner Bros. (They originally had a screening of Hocus Pocus planned with Kathy Najimy as a special guest, but Najimy had to cancel at the last minute.) How was it?

The People's Joker exists in a place very similar to that enjoyed by Escape from Tomorrow. In both cases, you have independent filmmakers making unlicensed, unauthorized use of American pop iconography, Disney in the case of Escape from Tomorrow and DC Comics in the case of this film, as a way of satirizing and critiquing it with a particular focus on its corporate ownership and its role in the modern economy. Unlike Disney, which permitted the release of Escape from Tomorrow, DC Comics and Warner Bros. actively tried to clamp down on this film, which was ultimately saved by fair use laws protecting parodies like this. And of the two, I'd argue that this film pulls off what it was trying to do a lot better. While both films are elevated by a particular psychedelic edge and punk-rock attitude, Escape from Tomorrow was too incoherent to really stick the landing or even really convey what it was trying to say, while The People's Joker manages to successfully pull off being not only a dark parody of Batman in which the Joker is the hero, but also a hilarious comedy in its own right, a queer coming-out story, a satire of the entertainment industry (especially stand-up and sketch comedy), and a film that manages to get its message across loud and clear. For obvious reasons, I don't expect this to be more than a cult classic, but it's one I enjoyed and do not regret watching.
In this take on Batman's most iconic villain, one that's most obviously based on the movie Joker but draws on many versions of the character (as well as elements of Harley Quinn), the Joker is now a trans woman who leaves her disapproving mother in Smallville, Kansas for Gotham City in the hopes of becoming a comedian like her idol, UCB Live star Ra's al Ghul. There, upon being exposed to the gatekeeping and hypocrisy of the world of mainstream standup comedy, which here serves largely to prop up a corporate-run dystopia even as it still claims the legacy of those who once spoke truth to power, she starts her own underground "anti-comedy" troupe in an abandoned carnival that comes to be comprised of many of Batman's traditional baddies from the comics. (Her trademark gag is inviting people onstage to tell the world their saddest experiences and then huffing Smilex and laughing her ass off at their misery, because after all, this is still the Joker we're talking about.) This eventually puts her on a collision course with Batman himself, who's depicted as not only the jackbooted thug that more cynical deconstructions of superhero comics have framed him as, but also a perverted closet case on top of it. (Let's just say, this film gets a lot of mileage out of all those jokes you've heard about his relationship with his sidekick Robin.)
The film ain't exactly subtle in what it's saying. UCB Live is a clear-cut parody of Saturday Night Live, right down to the fact that Lorne Michaels is a character in the film, and moreover, its initialism is lifted straight from the famed Chicago comedy troupe the Upright Citizens Brigade that played such a major role in the development of standup and sketch comedy in the '90s and '00s, including producing multiple SNL stars. And while the film never names him so directly, you also get the sense that its writer, director, and star Vera Drew really isn't a fan of Joe Rogan or the standup circle he's built around himself, either. The Joker's introduction to UCB Live's casting has her body being scanned and her being deemed a potential comedy superstar because she has a small penis and is therefore mistaken for the kind of insecure man who the industry is built upon. Her comic idol Ra's starred in a Borat-like film whose main joke was making fun of foreigners. The whole reason Batman, an avatar of the elite if ever there was one (being the CEO of Wayne Enterprises and all), comes after her is because she directly criticizes and threatens the ruling class in a way that the corporate, sanitized world of UCB Live merely pretends to. Drew is somebody who clearly has experience with comedy and the people who inhabit it, and is very much writing that experience into the meat of the story, a metaphorical representation of an entertainment industry that, in her view, only cloaks itself in populism and progressive language enough that it can fend off criticism without actually making any meaningful changes.
Much of this is told through a mix of a riotous and raunchy comedy and the Joker's romance with her fellow comic Jason Todd, aka "Mr. J", a trans man who's envisioned here as a mix of Robin and the edgelord Jared Leto version of the Joker from the DC Extended Universe. The gags came flying at a mile a minute, and often had me busting my gut in laughter. The whole cast is game for the material, with Drew making the Joker a compelling anti-hero not just as a comic presence but also as somebody whose journey from a Midwestern girl-trapped-in-a-boy's-body to a flamboyant Clown Princess of Crime was one that I found myself genuinely invested in. Kane Distler as Mr. J was also an interesting presence, somebody whose relationship with the Joker starts promisingly only for him to turn emotionally abusive and self-centered (complete with a "gaslighting" pun that had me cracking up), indicating that, when he transitioned, he wound up embracing the most noxious forms of hypermasculinity. And as for the style of the film, Drew goes for an exaggerated feel that combines live-action filmmaking, highly stylized CGI, what appears to be a mannequin representing Poison Ivy, and very crude animation both 2D and 3D to create a feeling that reminded me of watching Adult Swim or surfing Newgrounds back in the 2000s. There clearly wasn't much of a budget here, so Drew instead leaned on creativity, both her own and the dozens of artists worldwide who each contributed to the film. It was as unique a film to watch as it was an entertaining comedy, one that demonstrated a lot of talent and commitment on the part of everybody involved.
The Bottom Line
There's no way in hell that The People's Joker is ever getting a wide release, but if it plays near you, I highly recommend seeking it out, as a twisted, countercultural sendup of everything from superheroes to mainstream comedy to who gets to call themselves "the counterculture".

FUCK!!! I knew this would happen!!!! SNL sucks with picking their guests sometimes!!!!! Again, why can’t Mariska Hargitay/Christopher Meloni host, or the Tenderloins, or Matthew Gray Gubler, or Danai Gurira, or even Tom Holland?????
Looking forward to seeing Simu Liu and Paul Rudd host, though.

SNL' has history of using 'Jews as the punchline,' ADL says as they call on Lorne Michaels to take action
SNL’ has history of using ‘Jews as the punchline,’ ADL says as they call on Lorne Michaels to take action
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is the latest Jewish organization to call out “Saturday Night Live” for a joke about Israel they say “crossed the line.” During Saturday’s episode, “Weekend Update” host Michael Che spoke about Israel’s coronavirus vaccine rollout, suggesting that Jewish citizens are receiving priority treatment. “Israel is reporting that they’ve vaccinated half of their…

SUNDAY 10:30AM UPDATE Just as I expected, there’s been an avalanche of criticism on social media overnight. But there have also been plenty of Tweets supporting Che by people who are either anti-Semitic or clueless. Che didn’t say, “the Israeli half.” He said “the Jewish half.” There’s a difference, even if he’s unaware of it. His joke was directed at a religion, not a state or government. That he didn’t understand that distinction is where the problem lies. And will perpetuate more anti-Semitism. I’m usually a fan of Che. But he’s made a big error that must be rectified.
SUNDAY 12:38AM Comedian Michael Che is already getting blasted midway through “Saturday Night Live” for an anti-Semitic joke.
During “Weekend Update,” Che joked that half the people in Israel had already been vaccinated and “I’m going to guess it’s the Jewish half.”
Lorne Michaels, who is Jewish, cannot be happy. (He might not be happy about some other references to his personal wealth during the segment.)
Che is getting a ton of criticism and anger on Twitter right now. But even worse– the anti-Semites are coming out, applauding the line. What a stupid thing he did. I think this will not be the end of it.
One Tweeter said: Michael Che perpetrated an anti- Semitic anti- Israel trope with his vaccine joke. Just as a fact check – Israel vaccinated 1/2 of its population of Israeli citizens – Arab, Jewish and Christian. Shame on you.
Another: WTF, SNL. Your no-reason quip about Israel only vaccinating Jews is not only a lie, but it perpetuates anti-semitism. Cheap shot that does more damage than the momentary, paltry laugh you got for that sorry excuse of a joke.

As a continuation of my SNL post from earlier today, the one and only takeaway I have from this brief interest is a newfound hatred for Lorne Michaels. He seems like a horrible boss, and everything I've heard makes me hate him. I don't know why NBC brought him back as producer, when one of their funniest cast members came from Dick Ebersole and Jean Doumanian (Eddie Murphy). Nevermind the fact that at least two of his cast members died of drug overdoses. That falls at his feet. He should have been trying to help them (especially after it already had happened once)! If he hires the writers, that would explain why the show is never consistently good, either. He has bad taste (or some of his writers do). Nevermind the fact that it sounds like his workplace is very cruel (based on testimonials of half the people he worked with). There's an old New Yorker magazine article I've stumbled upon and read twice already (once recently and once years ago). It really emphasizes all my problems with him.

The movie I hate the most: Mean Girls 2
So recently someone asked me, “What is a movie you actually hate?”
My first thought was, there aren’t movies I could say I hated. Sure there are movies I don’t really like but hate would be a strong word. But now that I’ve had some time to steam, I have realized that there is a film that I do hate with a passion. That I feel fails on every level and has the nerve to call itself a sequel to one of the most popular comedies my generation. It is a worst sequel and a worst movie than Batman and Robin.
It is the monstrosity that is Mean Girls 2. Yes, get there is a Mean Girls 2.
Mean Girls is one of my favorite movies and I will defend it to my last breath. As a child, I was entertained by it. As a teenager, I finally understood it. And as an adult, I appreciate it.
Tumblr media
Is it perfect? No, but Mean Girls still a beloved comedy that transcends the chick flick. I have met older men, who don’t have nostalgia tied to it, who can at least appreciate Mean Girls as a well written and well-made film. Paramount and Mark Waters put time and effort into it. They didn’t treat it as a cheap teen girl movie. Unlike Mean Girls 2, who talks down to its audience, while saying that it’s “edgy”.
Tumblr media
And no this was not written by Tiny Frey. Not directed by Mark Waters. Not produced by Lorne Michaels. None of the original actors...except for Tim Meadows, who was written really creepy in this one.
Tumblr media
Mean Girls 2 was produced by Paramount Famous and distributed by Paramount home as a direct to DVD movie.
Now I don’t just hate this movie JUST BECAUSE it’s a squeal. I hate it because it's terrible. The acting is pretty bad. The cinematography goes from boring to bad. The dialogue is dull and the plot seems to be a mashup of high school plot lines.
What is the story?
Jo is a new student at North Shore High. She wears black and takes Woodshop so she’s “not like other girls”. The same actress played the mean girl in the Camp Rock movies and she was actually better in that role. She sucks in this.
Tumblr media
Jo is eventually hired to be friends with Abby, who is played by Harper from Wizards of Waverly Place. I actually like this actress and this character had potential. Abby is shy, dorky, has ambitions but has such low self-esteem that she doesn’t stand up for herself. Her family is super-rich yet she is still the one who is bullied by the Plastics. For stupid reasons.
The Plastics in this movie, actually wear plastic jewelry. I think the wardrobe department was ran by a 10-year-old who thought this was what “big girls” wore. The lead plastic, Mandy, is played by the girl from Cory in the House.
No this is not a Disney Channel movie.
Tumblr media
Jo, who is so on your face about “not being like other girls” that it is pretentious and annoying, is getting thousands of dollars to be Abby’s best friend and starts dating Mandy’s brother.
Mandy does all these stupid things to sabotage Jo including this thing where she “exposes” her for being a virgin and people laugh at her...okay? Mandy overhears that she is being hired by Abby's friend....because Abby’s dad says rather loudly, “I hired you to be her friend.”
Of course, Mandy reveals it...in the school newspaper? 🤨 Abby is understandably mad but five minutes later they make up. Together they form the “anti-plastics” so they wear black and fake high lights because they’re “edgy”.
Tumblr media
Then Mandy steals money for the homecoming dance and plants it in Jo’s shed. So Jo challenges her to a flag football game...because that’s how crime works? Mandy loses the game and gets ARRESTED. They throw in a school dance so that Jo and her boyfriend can have a makeup scene. Jo wins and Mandy loses, happy ending.
Tumblr media
Yea, l know Mean Girls “wouldn't happen in real life” either, but the characters felt more real. Yea they were stereotypes but there was good and bad in each one of them. And they had arcs. In the end, Regina changes, finding a new identity and no longer feels the need to tear people down. Cady realizes that she can get caught up in popularity and easily turn mean and then works to be a better person. Both of them are human after all.
The characters in Mean Girls 2 are characterizations of stereotypes of how people think teenagers act with this black and white view of good and bad.
This truly is not just a pointless sequel but actually does disgrace the name that is Mean Girls.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Mini Book Review
I read “Transitions” today and it was amazing!
Star Wars reference- done by Elizabeth!
Jack is apparently just anti-Scottish, because he mistrusts Beckett and (jealously) dismisses Agent Barrett as a “Scottish nerd” in his narration at one point.
Daniel didn’t get a tremendous amount to do, but I loved his presence as I always do.
Radek is hilarious and I love him. I didn’t spot Lorne, oddly enough. Caldwell’s absence was justified, on the other hand.
Plenty of focus on Cassie Fraiser, which was awesome.
We get answers about Michael & Jenny from “1969” in ways that tie in well.
Landry thinks Woolsey is a giraffe, but Google tells me their actors are the same height??? Whatever, yay Woolsey!
Not a lot of Teyla or Ronon, which was a bit disappointing. Plenty of Teal’c though! For her part, Sam seems to feel left behind and in a rut right now- interesting implications I’ll discuss in a later, fuller review.
Setting up for the Ori without letting it be clear in-story that is what’s going on.
Rodney being Rodney, my beloved grumpy Canadian. At one point, although she thinks she just played his fears/vanities, Elizabeth gets Rodney to fly a jumper by suggesting Carson do it instead. All things considered, I think Rodney would rather be at risk than having Carson be at risk (see: Sateda & Sunday).
Speaking of whom, I need to find that Elizabeth remark about Carson, which ties into her initial thoughts on him back in the novelization for “Rising”. I also laughed very early on due to Hammond’s musings about Jack, which in hindsight double a bit as foreshadowing.
Carson continues to be the best! <3
I’ll do a proper review later, but I wanted to get out my initial thoughts before going to bed because this was a great read!

Meghan McCain’s Husband Ben Domenech Goes on Unhinged Homophobic Rant Against ‘Cuck’ Seth Meyers
The conservative writer and founder of The Federalist later deleted the tweets in which he called the ‘Late Night’ host a ‘piece of sh*t’ for grilling his wife.
“I see that @sethmeyers, the untalented piece of shit who only has has job because he regularly gargled Lorne Michaels’ balls, went after my wife tonight with his idiotic anti-Semitic bullshit,” wrote Domenech.
“Here is proof that white men get ahead despite their obvious lack of talent,” he added. “It’s @sethmeyers, who would beg for a third of the viewers at @TheView. He’s awful, untalented, and a perfect definition of a cuck.”
“Cuck” is a broadly recognized alt-right slang word indicating a man who is emasculated or sexually inferior as a result of liberal political views.
Domenech’s homophobia is not out of place, as his website is known for vicious anti-LGBTQ content. McCain, ironically, recently received a “diversity” award from Harvey Milk’s nephew for LGBTQ allyship.

So I guess SNL will not be giving Paul Rudd a do-over for the season finale.
SNL can be extremely disappointing and frustrating at times. Honestly, with who they pick to host/be a musical guest a bunch of times, I can’t say I’m surprised. Sure, let Selena Gomez host for no reason. And let Kim Kardashian host, again, for no reason.
Now I’m starting to believe Mariska Hargitay will never host Saturday Night Live.
With that weird movie, Don’t Worry Darling, coming out soon, Lorne will surely let Harry Styles host.
