the difference in harry styles films is that my policeman seems bad because emma corrin and david dawson are giving breathtaking performances that makes harrys seem extra bad in comparison, and dont worry darling seems good because florence pugh and chris pine are acting their hearts out (and the few moments that gemma chan gets to take center stage, she does stunning work) so you dont even have to care about mr onedirectionman

I could get cancelled for this immediately, but does anyone else get really irritated when you see a certain subset of the queer community inserting themselves into other subsets’ issues?

Like when cis gay people think they can speak for trans folks just because “well we’re all lgbt.”

Or like gay men thinking they can make misogynistic comments about lesbians and use the word d*ke etc just because “well we’re lgbt too”.

Or (and this is a big one lately) queer women inserting themselves into conversations that are about issues specific to queer men, and acting like they have exactly as much credibility in the argument because “well we’re just as lgbt as you.”

It’s just like… yeah we’re all queer. But each individual group is their own mini community, and they all have their own things that are specific to them, and if you aren’t in that exact demographic then you don’t have the experience necessary to add your input on those topics. And if you go ahead and shove your way into the conversation anyway, then you’re like… only 5% better than a homophobe. If that.

Harry Styles fucking baffles me he’s playing a gay character and then going “well, the story isn’t about being gay it’s about love and wasted time”. Like. Shut the fuck up. He also mentions how in the era it takes place it was illegal to be gay and how it’s “unfathomable”. Does he fucking know people are still homophobic and get killed for being gay? Does he know that it’s still illegal in some countries? That gay marriage isn’t even legalized everywhere? He’s pretending that putting a label on yourself is so outdated and that he can’t be defined but many people do not see the world that way. Many people don’t see us as human beings. That’s why labels are important to use and normalize. And there’s a history behind them. Harry Styles really needs to educate himself and stop saying he’s “all about love” when you say the most ignorant shit I’ve ever heard rooted in homophobia. So sick of these privileged ass celebrities using queer culture as an accessory and appropriating it but not having to know anything about it and not caring to know.
