Here's a PSA for anyone getting *tired* of boycotting: suck it up.
We as humans are more than capable of going without Starbucks or McDonald's or whatever. It really doesn't effect our ability to live or others ability to live. What it does effect is the businesses that are supporting the war crimes happening right now in Palestine.
So I'm begging everyone to not give up and to not give in because it works. It works so much that the government is trying to figure out a way to make it illegal to boycott (which is hilarious if you ask me). American politics is all about money, Americans vote with their dollars. So try to be a vigilant as you can and stay strong. Where your money goes matters and when you make a conscious effort to redirect your money it makes a difference

I love backpacking and you can meet some pretty neat people doing it but god some of them are such fucking snobs.
Like I heard someone say that if you use a water bladder you're not a real backpacker? Wtf does that mean bro I just want my water easily accessible and not have to dig it out of my side pockets every time I need a drink. But I guess that makes me a poser or something lmao

if israel is charged for war crimes, never ever let the support for palestine stop. it will take generations to repair what's been done. and there's no way to repair the hearts of those who lost their entire families, children, loved ones, limbs, etc. the most we can do is rally to dismantle israel entirely. only then can the fallen rest easy.

I don't know what millennial parent needs to here this but here's your sign to take your kids fucking iPad away. Part of being a parent is to, you know, parent the child so they don't grow up being raised by the Internet. Parenting is hard, we all know that whether we have kids or not. But what's gonna be even harder is breaking your child's screen addiction when they get older and have to go to school and function like a normal human.
And even worse is the amount of bullshit your kid is being fed on a daily basis without your knowledge because you're too caught up in your own shit to realize it. 10 year olds are buying makeup and expensive skin care because tiktok told them they're ugly and need 5 layers of shit on their face to be pretty. No child should ever ever worry about shit like that but they are now because they have uncontrolled, unlimited access to the cesspool that is the modern Internet.
So please I'm begging y'all to buck up and actually be a parent before the next generation comes out as braindead, drooling, phone addicts with no critical thinking skills or individuality

Whenever there's a case like the Chris Watts case everyone goes "oh how could we have known he was extremely violent and abusive to the point he would murder his entire family? He was a god fearing, good Christian American man!" And I have to laugh because if you grew up with a father or a man like that in your life then you know how they are. They are absolutely capable of violent abuse and murder and will gladly dispose of their their families when they stop being useful to them or when they make them a little too angry.

I had an epiphany the other day while washing dishes: simply just saying "I am not my parents' politics" is not enough; you need to actively unlearn the bigotry you were taught and fill you life with acceptance and love for all.
So why did this come to me while washing dishes, exactly? Basically, I was raised by an OCD mother who had very strict "rights" and "wrongs" when it came to cleaning. The particular "right" that's always haunted me to this day is the way dishes are washed and what "can" and "can't" go in the dishwasher. Its silly and ridiculous but even now I find myself still separating the dishes and only loading certain things into the dishwasher. I have been out of my parents house since 17, and at almost 24 I still have such a hard time letting go and just doing the dishes the way I want.
That led to think about all the other things I've had to unlearn and teach myself as an adult. About politics, race, gender, sexuality, religion, the world in general. I think about 18 year old me's view of the world vs my 23 year old self's view of the world and it's just so shocking how much Catholic, conservative baggage I still carried with me despite being into social justice since age 16. It takes time and a lot of self discipline to be honest with yourself and know that you have come a long way but still have a long way to go.
People often ask how I turned out to be such a progressive when I was raised by a religious conservative family. My only answer really is that I started to hear different opinions on things as I got older and it led me to question a lot of what I had been raised to believe. So educate yourself, talk with others about these things, and you'll be surprised how much of a perspective shift you can have in such a short amount of time

One of the super cool things about living in Nevada is that casino mega corporations can buy parts of the city. So that's what Jacobs Entertainment did, they bought an entire ward. Hear me again: They. Bought. An. Entire. Ward. Knocking down motels and every affordable living place, pushing out local businesses, painting over local murals, and slapping their stupid logo all over everything. Fuck you Jacobs Entertainment, I hope your souls rot in capitalist hell, tormented by the spirits of those who died on the streets because you demolished the only place they could afford to live

It feels odd when I see women posting about "healing" their relationship with their body by going from being calorie-counting Tumblr thinspo, super skinny to calorie-counting, Instagram muscle mommy, bodybuilding. Like no girl you're just jumping from one extreme obsession with your physique to another, both manufactured and promoted by the health industry to squeeze as much money and energy out of you as possible, telling you that you need certain products and supplements to reach your goals and be happy while simultaneously telling you you will never be good enough, putting you through an endless cycle of making goals, reaching them, then realizing you're still not as fulfilled as you were promised to be. But whatever makes you happy I guess
