ANTI FAIRSTAIRS
I believe Jordelia will be Endgame. I do not expect anything to happen between Matthew and Cordelia, but there is one scenario I could see playing out. Picking up where coi left off, Daisy is absolutely heartbroken. She thinks that James is in love with Grace, and therefore they have no future together. She doesn’t think she’ll ever get what she really wants, so she considers settling for good enough. (I mean absolutely no offense to Matthew.) She likes Matthew as a person, so she thinks that if she can’t have the love of her life, then maybe she can be happy with a nice boy who loves her. I imagine that most of Daisy’s POVs would be her trying to convince herself that she likes Matthew and to forget about James. To test her theory, I can see Daisy going as far as to kiss Matthew. But, I think that one kiss is as far as it will go. Daisy will kiss him, but it won’t feel right. She’ll immediately realize that she ONLY loves James, and then she’ll apologize and tell Matthew that she can’t do this.
If this plays out like this, I think that chances are James will see that kiss, and then he’ll be heartbroken. He’ll assume Daisy and Matthew are together, so he won’t tell Daisy how he feels because he doesn’t want to ruin their relationship, leading to more drama.
(Yes, I realize this would be kind of a dick move on Daisy’s part but so was convincing a heartbroken girl to run away with you without giving her time to think but in her defense, she is hurting and also a teenager, and sometimes teenagers are dumb.)

Charlie Boy
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
Charles Fairchild was dead. Today was the funeral. And Alastair Carstairs didn’t know how he felt about it.
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
On one hand, Charles was his former lover. His terrible former lover who had been harassing him for months after abusing him for years.
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide
But on the other hand, for a long time he had considered Charles his first love. And that isn’t something that one changes his mind on so quickly.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
He wanted it to not hurt, the fact that Charles had died. Because it shouldn’t hurt. He didn’t love Charles anymore.
Well, he suspected part of him would always love Charles, but he wasn’t in love with him anymore.
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!
This whole situation had just been confusing for Alastair. How can he feel like this about Charles, of all people, when he couldn’t shed a tear for his own father?
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying
And if the funeral hadn’t already been bad-yes, he’d been forced to go to his ex lover’s funeral, they still have to keep up appearances after all-Matthew Fairchild had made it a hundred times worse.
If I am dead, as dead I well may be
He’d come up to him, yelling and screaming at him. Blaming him for not going to Charles’s bedside, blaming him for whatever happened to make Charles call out his name like that.
It was a side of Fairchild that Alastair had never seen before. One that was so fiercely protective of his brother, even if he rarely showed it.
In that moment, Fairchild reminded Alastair of himself when he protected Layla.
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
He could hardly fault him for his actions when he was grieving. Angel knows Alastair had done and said some terrible when he was grieving.
And kneel and say an Ave there for me
But Alastair’s own reaction to his words is why he is in this situation now.
Alastair is sitting on the front steps of the London Institute, his breaths coming out in heavy puffs. His chest felt tight and he couldn’t breathe. His stomach was twisted in knots, his insides feeling almost cramp-like.
He’s felt this way before, many times, in fact.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me
It always started the same. Tightness in his chest, inability to breathe, nausea, stomach cramps, eventual vomiting.
He didn’t know what it was, all he knew is that he hated that feeling. He felt helpless when he was like this.
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
“Alastair?” His sister’s voice rang out from somewhere behind him. “Dâdâsh, where are you?”
Layla. He wanted to say. He wanted to assure her that he was fine, just like he always did.
But he couldn’t find the words.
He couldn’t breathe.
“Alastair. Dâdâsh. Breathe with me, okay? In and out, in and out.”
Cordelia’s voice was distorted in his brain, like he was underwater and she was above.
For you will bend and tell me that you love me
It took him a while before he calmed down completely. Cordelia had at some point come to sit down next to him on the steps, rubbing his arm comfortingly.
There was a small sigh before his sister spoke again. “I already told off Matthew, by the way. He isn’t allowed to speak to you like that.”
“He’s allowed to do what he likes. His brother just died.” Alastair whispered, his voice hoarse from his sobs.
“That isn’t an excuse. I’m tired of him and James and their friends treating you horribly, they’ve been doing so since we arrived in London and I’m tired of it.”
Her tone was as fiery as her hair, he forgets sometimes that Layla is just as protective of him as he is of her.
“You’re allowed to grieve, dâdâsh. You loved him once.”
Alastair thought about her words for a moment.
He doesn’t want to grieve Charles.
Charles who took advantage of him when he was still a child.
Charles who wanted him to be a secret.
Charles who kept him the shadows.
Charles who got engaged to two different women during their relationship.
Charles who claimed that he loved him, even when Alastair knew it wasn’t true.
Charles who only wanted his body.
Charles the villain.
Charles the monster.
That was the Charles he knew. He didn’t know the lovely boy the Consul and her husband talked about, the dear older brother Fairchild was defending.
He didn’t want to grieve the Charles he knew, he wished he could grieve the version the Fairchilds saw.
But that version of him was long gone by the time Alastair had met him.
“I hated him, Layla, I still hate him. I don’t want to love or grieve him.”
“Then don’t.”
“If I don’t want to, then why does it still hurt so much?”
And with that Cordelia wrapped her arms around Alastair and let him cry on her shoulder.
She knew her brother needed to break down for once and she was content to let him. Cordelia would never let anyone hurt her brother ever again.
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!
