Mistigram: this Spring has already been a pretty magical season, what with the appearance of the Easter eggs, Christ's resurrection and that business with the eclipse, and capping it all off, today is National #Unicorn Day! This #ANSIart screen celebrating the occasion was drawn by AdeptApril for Storm BBS.
I wanted to do an art piece that could be made in color like in old computer graphics which simple ASCII did not give, which is called ANSI (pretty much ASCII+)
I did stumble across this site (16colors) from a Tumblr post, and that pointed to the resources I need to make this real.
Here's the first thing I did. I made a black and white piece. The only reason the blood is in color was to visualized it and to having it make a shadow of shorts on the next step.
I did use a little cheat getting to the text image I could edit on instead of doing it all by hand. It did take a few attempts till I like how it looked.
The website I used for that was this. It allows you to convert images into ASCII art. Then copy and pasted it into the program.
Well lastly and the fun part coloring it, which if you have seen the post from few days back I did a whole color sheet to see how much colors I had to play with.
Here's some progress picture I took while getting it colored. The program I used was PabloDraw. It did take make a bit to understand how to use it, but was not hard.
Here's a zoom in to see two-tone blocks that gives the illusion of more colors than 16. You might have to zoom in it yourself to see it more of what I'm saying.
Quest’anno vado per i 27 e ho pensato di uccidermi così tante volte che ora non lo vedo come un problema ma come una parte di me stesso e mi chiedo perché vivere soffrendo quando con le droghe posso morire sorridendo(?)
Mistigram: This striking #ANSIart illustration by @mavenmob is titled "Blackbird Why You Wanna Fly", echoing Nina Simone's song lyrics, and was included in the recent MIST1023 artpack collection.
