Whumper torturing whumpee with a shock collar? Even better if caretaker is watching. ❤
Do I really have to make a new plot for every single one of these requests? Yes. Yes, I do. Will there ever be conclusions to these plots? No. No, there won’t.
“Boss? There’s something here you might want to see.”
Caretaker raises their eyes from their work to one of their teammates. They’re standing at the door of the office, holding a flashdrive.
“And what’s that?”
“It’s the footage from that warehouse we stormed yesterday.”
“Is there a lead to where they might have gone?”
“No. We managed to get a couple of license plates, but that was about it. But… There’s something else in this footage. You just… You have to see it.”
They go around the table and plug the flash drive into the computer. Thirty days of footage are divided into sixty files. The team mate clicks one of them, jumping to a certain point in time. When the cursor scrubs the player, Caretaker sees quick movements around the warehouse, until team mate finally stops.
There is one chair in the middle of the warehouse, directly under a light. There is one person sitting on it, fighting restraints. Their face is battered, and they’re leaning like they can’t hold the weight of their own body. They raised their face, like they’re looking for a way out. Caretaker grabs the arms of their chair, losing their breath.
“Whumpee.” They look at their team mate, looking for a confirmation. “They’re alive?”
Whumpee had gone missing three months before. Their apartment was torn down, there was blood all over. When they weren’t found, Caretaker had assumed the worst.
“I don’t know, boss.” They say, without moving their eyes from the screen. “But they definitely were three days ago. Take a look.”
Someone arrives, walking slowly, cockily. Caretaker’s hands close into fists. They’d know that silhouette anywhere.
“Whumper,” they growl.
And it is them. Whumpee freezes when they see them, sinking into the chair.
“Not again. I told you, I... ”, Caretaker hears, although the audio is bad. They raise the volume on the computer.
“No. No, no, no…” Whumper shakes their finger, shushing Whumpee. “You’ve told me nothing. And I told you that nothing is inacceptable. So I thought we could try something different.”
Whumpee starts to struggle again and Caretaker feels like cheering them on like a football coach would. They know this was days ago and if Whumpee had managed to escape, their team mate would have been able to track them. But knowing Whumpee is alive again… It’s almost too much hope to bear.
Ignoring their fight to escape, Whumper takes something out of their pocket, unravelling it. Caretaker squints to see, but from afar it looks like a strap of fabric with some sort of device attached to it.
“What is that?” Whumpee asks, right on cue.
“Ah, you’ll find out.” They obscure Whumpee for a second, hovering over them. Caretaker tries to see what they’re doing, why Whumpee is screaming and thrashing. Then, Whumper steps aside and Whumpee spits on the ground next to them.
“Are you kidding?! A collar?! Did you just collar me, you sick bastard?”
“I’d say it’s what you deserve. If you had been more collaborative, this wouldn’t have to happen. I’m just trying to make ends meet.” Whumper takes something else out of their pocket and shakes it in front of their face. “Are you familiar with these?”
“No. I’m not a psychopath! What is this shit?”
Whumper sighs.
“It’s for other people concerned about non collaborative animals.” They press a button and Whumpee lets out a scream. Caretaker almost jumps out of their chair.  Whumper merely laughs. “Sorry, did I startle you? I think you got the gist of it now, didn’t you?”
“What kind of collar is this?” Whumpee tries to look down, but it’s too tight for them to see anything.
“A shock collar. For disobedient pets. Of course, bigger pets require bigger shocks. I had someone make some changes for me.” Whumper pushes the button again, just for the joy of it.
Whumpee screams louder than before, their body lifting slightly from the metal chair. When Whumper let go of the button, they fell to it, breathless, head sinking forward.
Caretaker slams their fist against the table.
“How long does this go on for?”
Their team mate swallows.
“A while.” They scrub over the next scenes. The shocking goes on and on for at least thirty minutes. Team mate finally pauses. “I- What… What should we do? What are the orders?”
Caretaker rubs their face.
“Find them. End Whumper. What it’s always been.”
“But… If they’re keeping hostages now… They could force us to retreat.” Team mate retrieves the flashdrive. “If it was between Whumpee and the mission… Could you do it?”
Caretaker feels their heart twisting. It was a twist much like the ones they felt every single night they went to sleep thinking they’d never see Whumpee again, that they were gone for good. They know what Team Mate is asking, and they’re right. The mission should always be first.
Caretaker stands up and extends their hand to their team mate. The other took it.
“Take care of the team for me.”
“W- What? What are you— What will you…”
Caretaker takes out their insignia and their weapon, leaving them on the table.
“I’m going rogue.”
As always, my askbox is always open for requests. If you enjoy what I do, please consider getting me a ko-fi!

I really wouldn't mind you aiding me with some tutorials love
giffing tutorial/resources
hi anon! sorry it took me so long to answer. i figured this might be helpful for others out there who have asked me similar questions, so i’ve compiled a pretty comprehensive list of tutorials/resources. idk about others but when i was new to giffing, it took me a lot of painful effort to go around and look for resources, so i’m putting it all here to make it a little easier!
i download videos using 4k video downloader. it will download very good quality 1080p videos in .mp4 format. if you’re downloading a 4k video, make sure to change the setting option to .mkv so that you get 4k and not 1080p—for obvious reasons since you want the highest quality.
i rely on kpopexciting to get .ts files — which are basically raw, very high quality video files for live performances. they are much less grainy than .mp4 versions of live performances—which are the ones you’ll see uploaded to youtube. i’ve found that 4k videos (in .mkv) are just as good quality as .ts, but obviously you will rarely see live performances in 4k, so get .ts when you can!! you can also try to find .ts files on twitter, but you may have to do a lot of digging. i wish i could recommend you twitter accounts, but the ones i used to go to have been very inactive/taken down all their drives :( but this website is really nice and updated frequently so i would recommend it!
vapoursynth links + download. the reason you would use vapoursynth is to resize your gif, while maintaining the optimal quality of the gif. if you gif without vapoursynth (.ie only using photoshop), it will still be fine, but the image quality may be grainier. also, you will definitely need vapoursynth to gif .ts files —more will be explained in the tutorial i’ve linked below. i would recommend that you have a high processing/lots of ram/newer desktop or laptop to use vapoursynth so that 1, your computer isn’t fried and 2, your vapoursynth process will go a lot faster. i am using a 2017 macbook pro for all my work, and it runs pretty well, but my laptop still gets pretty hot so just make sure you’re not running a million things in the background while using adobe products and vapoursynth lol. i used a pretty old and beat up 2011 model macbook air back then, and i will say that yes vapoursynth worked and ran on it, but it took much longer, and basically fried the laptop’s battery (aka i had to get the battery changed twice and the laptop would die randomly) but issok it was a school borrowed laptop so i didn’t feel too bad lol. im just saying this as a precaution, to preserve the health of your electronic devices!! but don’t be afraid to use vapoursynth! you should still try it at least once.
thank you to @realstraykids for this super detailed, really nice tutorial! it includes how and where to download videos, how to gif using vapoursynth, using photoshop, comparisons, coloring, and pretty much all you need to know. 10/10 would recommend
thank you to @dreamcolouring for this lifesaver!!! the best and easiest way to blur out unwanted captions/objects in your gifs. i recommend doing this step after converting your frames to video timeline and before you do sharpening and coloring. another tip i’ll add is to feather the selection you’ve made right before you click on “add vector mask” —this will make sense once you’ve read through the tutorial. feathering it will make the blurred spot less noticeable and more subtle.
i use this generator to create gradient colored captions! copy and paste your text, then select the colors you want. generate the code, and copy it. change the settings of the text editor on your post to HTML. paste the code, preview, and voila! add elements <blockquote>,<b>,<i>, etc as needed. see more on colored captions in this tutorial by @kylos --i believe op mentioned a different and better color generator but for some reason it won’t work for me :( hopefully it works for u! basically same idea as the previous generator i mentioned.
my own mini tutorial/workflow process of making gifs. this includes working with a .ts file, vapoursynth, photoshop, coloring, watermarking, etc. and a few of my own tips below:
if you are working with an .mp4, you do not have to make any changes to the preprocessor/denoise filters/sharpening in the resizing part of vapoursynth—it doesn’t make that big of a difference if you do. but if you are working with a .ts file, definitely do make those changes,, that’s the whole reason you have vapoursynth. with an .mp4, i like to use vapoursynth to just resize, but i don’t add any additional settings. i use smart sharpen in photoshop to sharpen it, which is pretty good on it’s own (at least in photoshop 2020!).
my rule of thumb is to do add .02 seconds when i am setting frame delay. so if when you first import the frames, they are at 0.04 seconds, i usually change them to 0.06. of course, this is my personal taste—you can make all your gifs faster or slower depending on how you want em to look.
if you are on a mac, you can screen record by pressing Command+Shift+5 (it’s a shortcut to quicktime screen recording). I only screen record for things like the beyond live concert or other live streamed events. the image quality of the screen recording, in my experience, is actually pretty good. when you gif the screen recording however, you may notice that it adds extra frames that you don’t need. by that i mean duplicate frames. you could keep the duplicate frames but that just means the size of your gif is going to be much bigger (keep in mind the limit is 8mb). in order to remove those duplicates, my only solution has been to remove them manually (by holding Command while selecting), or when you are importing the video to frames, select the option to “limit to every 2 frames”—but this method will be less precise and still not as good as manually removing frames. if you remove the duplicate frames, this means you will need to set the frame delay even slower, to make up for lost frames. in my experience, fps(frames per second) and frame delay work in conjunction. so for example, if i delete every other frame because they are duplicates,  but the starting frame delay is 0.02, i am now going to change it to something like 0.05 (so i added 0.03 seconds rather than my usual 0.02). if the duration length and the image dimensions of the gif are short/small, feel free to keep the duplicate frames in—i only delete duplicate frames in order to keep my gif under the 8mb limit. then, if you keep the duplicate frames in, continue with your standard frame delay preferences.  now that i’m writing this im realizing this might not make a lot of sense lol.. but don’t worry about it for now and if you run into trouble w screen recorded gifs then you can come back to this for reference. again, this is only my experience recording on a mac—it may be a lot different if you use a screen recording program or are on a pc.
i don’t really use .psd templates because i like to give every gif/gifset it’s own unique coloring—so i remake the coloring every time, but if you get into a rhythm it’s pretty easy. there are a lot of nice coloring tutorials out there, too! my personal coloring adjustments in order: levels, exposure, color balance, selective color (if needed), vibrance, photo filter (if needed), color lookup (i use 2strip most often and i put it on ‘color’ blending mode). don’t forget to adjust the opacities and fills of the ‘color lookup’ adjustment layer in case it’s too strong. go back to correct each adjustment layer as needed. then, when you’re done and satisfied, group all those layers, copy the group (you can do an easy command+c), and paste it onto the next gif you’re working on for easy workflow.
if for some reason you can’t see the frames when you import your layers/video, it’s likely because your ‘timeline’ window isn’t showing up. just go to the window menu on photoshop, go to the bottom and you’ll see ‘timeline.’ make sure it has a check next to it.
i recommend watermarking your gifs because a lot of people like to repost tings these days 😠 - so make sure u got your brand on it! i keep my watermark saved to my ‘libraries’ in photoshop so it’s ready when i need it. i use the blending mode ‘overlay’ and adjust the opacity, but if you don’t want to do that you can also add a stroke/shadow to your watermark/do all sorts.
tag #nctinc for your nct creations and #jenonet for your jeno creations!!
here’s my own mini tutorial (well not much of a tutorial ig more like a work process vid?): took about ten minutes including the time to search and download the video (but i didn’t record that part i trust yall know how to do that), vapoursynth, and exporting. i hope this helps somewhat! feel free to ask more questions whenever :)
youtube
keep in mind that giffing takes a lot of patience, energy, and experience—so don’t worry if it takes you a bit to figure things out or if your gifs don’t turn out the way you want them to the first time around. we all start at the same place and all run into problems. i know giffing can sound intimidating and seem like a lot of work, but i promise, once you get into a routine, giffing is going to happen in minutes—and you’ll get beautiful gifs. have fun! 😊

I have to admit, this took longer than I thought, well, I was also working for four days straight, and when I got home, I was already tired, so I wrote very little.
Anyway, after a lot of thinking about how to make a happy ending, here it is — Or maybe not…
I don’t have much to say about it. I’m just asking for more happy endings. Who do I have to sell my soul to to make it that way? Who was the knucklehead who said we’re gonna do this angst? I can’t blame them since we all decided this...
Okay, I’m relax, I calmed down, now I just have to hear your final verdict, and also tell me what you think of the names I use for the babies. By the way, I sent my computer to fix, so I’m uploading this from my phone, and I still don’t know if there's a way to put a ‘read more’, so you know it’s on my ao3 if you’d like to go read it there.
Bonds
As soon as the Sun rose above the sea, a faint pink with the dawn blue painted the sky over his island, Rodan woke up, feeling restless movements beneath him. The great firebird moved from his comfortable nest to dive into the lava and continue to rest, leaving alone his hatchlings who jumped from the nest to the volcanic ground, playing with each other, with five hatchlings still sleeping.
Trueno was the mischievous of the eighteen, perhaps because he was older and a bit bigger than the others, he was always jumping on his siblings, like Flama or Nebulosa who were the smallest and most distracted. They were the runt of the litter, but Rodan was once the runt, and was the only one who survived, so he wouldn’t give up on his daughters, they’ll survive. All of them.
Fuego approached his side, staring at the lava. During the first few days Rodan had hoped that some of his hatchlings would be curious enough to dive. The lava didn’t attract them at all, only to cause pranks between them like pushing each other... In that they take after Ghidorah.
Rodan growled as he remembered his mate. Ghidorah had left on their own, and until they changed that attitude towards their hatchlings Rodan wouldn’t allow the hydra to approach them — That didn’t mean he didn’t care about them, though. Isla de Mara had been their home so far, and Rodan couldn’t imagine his mate returning to Antarctica, a cold, lonely land...
The Fire Demon got angry feeling sorry for the three-headed Dragon — They didn’t leave at all, Rodan could hear the thunder and lightning during the night, a grey clouds near his island, and inside was the three-headed King. Waiting for him to respond.
At first Rodan wouldn’t have hesitated to answer their call and fly into the storm to meet King Ghidorah, after all they are his mate —
In part, Rodan understood Ghidorah, he also missed flying, missed spending more time with them... However, Ghidorah had to understand that they were no longer the only ones, that they couldn’t go out and fight, and be hurt when they had hatchlings to take care of, that they were no longer all Rodan could focus on.
Nebulosa fell near the lava, waking him up, helping his daughter out and nuzzling her, biting her right wing, the hatchling returned to play with her siblings. As he already guessed it was Trueno who had pushed her. Rodan knew that he could do nothing, but protect them, teach them to fly, and feed them until they could fend for themselves.
There were many predators outside his volcano, many times he had caught the metal insects spying on his hatchings, surely made by humans whom Godzilla trusted, except him; Rodan didn’t want a misfortune, like the one that happened to his family, he didn’t want to be the last one left.
Relámpago and Trueno began to fight, their wings began to move, from top to bottom, in erratic, un-elegant movements, rising in the air a few inches from the ground to fall on the volcanic ground.
He was known as the King of the Skies, a title that made Godzilla angry and Mothra laugh, but it wasn’t his fault that his worshippers named him that, he was an expert flyer, the best if he was being honest. And as such, he’d teach his hatchlings that there was nothing better than fly, over the clouds, over the island, over everything else. They’d inherited Ghidorah’s bio-electrical nature, so Rodan suspected that in time his hatchlings would even learn to create storms and fly as fast as he did.
If only his mate had been patient, maybe they wouldn’t have to throw a tantrum away from home. They’d have taught their hatchling, and Rodan was sure that King Ghidorah would have been proud.
◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆
This was unheard of!
Rodan still didn’t answer their call. No matter how big they made the storm, or how much thunder or lightning they made sound in the sky, none of it caught Rodan’s attention to get him to go to their side or get him out of the nest.
Why wasn’t it working? The last few times had been a success.
Their mate had turned his back on them, deliberately ignoring them, to focus on the golden spawn. He was just leaving the nest to show them how to fly or get them food. Just at those moments, they felt confident enough to try to convince their mate to leave the spawn.
The middle head growled as he saw the nest in which they used to rest with Rodan to be occupied by those golden spawn. If they’d known their offspring would be a nuisance, they wouldn’t have hesitated for a second to step on them when they were still eggs. But now they couldn’t do it.
Apparently, neither they nor any of the weak forms would approach them without Rodan present. All those ships that the worshippers of the weak King sent to the volcano were shot down by their mate, metal worms were swallowed whole if they got close enough to the spawn, and even the birds that flew nearby were caught and delivered to them.
Ghidorah thought that even (if possible) with such ferocity their mate could defeat the weak King and get his revenge against the annoying Queen, if any of them approached Mara. Even though, they definitely didn’t want to face Rodan when he was like that, not because he could beat them, but because they definitely didn’t want to hurt him.
They didn’t want to be alone in this world that they still didn’t understand.
Rodan is their mate, they are his Alpha, his King, he was supposed to do everything they asked for! Their Fire Demon had proved to be more than loyal, had taught them more than they could ask for.
Thousands of years alone had been worth it, as it made them meet him. Rodan had made them make strange decisions, keep him alive, take him as second in command, and then as their mate, and finally have offspring.
Ghidorah grumbled a couple more times before leaving their hiding place in the clouds, annoyed by their thoughts and because the heads began to fight each other. Lately it seemed that all they did was fight each other, it wasn’t something new that often they were in dispute, that was until San tried to bite Ichi’s neck, and Ni was about to break one of San’s horns.
They’d approach Isla de Mara once more, and if Rodan didn’t agree to go with them, then there was no other option.
They would take their mate by force.
◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆
For a long time Rodan had come to terms with the idea that he no longer needed his worshippers and that he was indifferent to the islanders... That’s what he believed.
Rodan thought how none of the islanders had tried to drive him out of his volcano — Not that he’d leave, this was his nest after all — Even after he, and Ghidorah, destroyed part of Mara, the islandees gave him some of the brilliant material that was inside his volcano as well as starting to leave him some of the fishing that had returned to their reefs.
At first Rodan didn’t care about the food that his new worshippers gave him, he didn’t need it, until he thought they weren’t exactly for him. They were for his hatchlings, and while he appreciated the gesture of helping him, he still didn’t like anyone trying to get close to them.
It was already noon, which meant that soon his young would be hungry again. He just had to wait for one of them to start crying for his attention so that the others would follow them, usually it was Trueno or Fuego that tipped off his siblings.
It seemed that his firstborn had read his mind, as soon as Rodan had spread his wings with the intention of flying around, hoping that everything would be in order, when Trueno lay down on the ground, exhausted, and began to wail to be followed by a chorus of equal whimpers.
Rodan approached his hatchlings, nuzzling them, assuring them that in a moment he’d return with food. And that said, he took flight, and flew away from the nest.
The first few days after the hatchlings unfolded their wings they tried to do the same. Rodan knew that they were still too small and young to fly, it’d be a couple of months before they knew how, and then they would learn to feed on the energy of the volcano and the earth, so he’d fly around the volcano, showing his children how it was supposed to flap their wings, and how it was supposed to land.
As Rodan already guessed, the offerings were ready and in place. He’d take a small part on his beak and come back in the night for the rest.
A hum caught his attention, coming from inside the offerings.
A metallic insect no bigger than his children came out of the offerings, Rodan tried to follow it with his eyes, it was moving fast, starting to stress the Titan, moving away heading to the volcano.
Rodan rose up in the air, following that metal bug. That thing was going to his volcano, to his nest, to his hatchlings.
Just as the top of the volcano was in front of them, the metallic insect stopped, flying to the left, confusing Rodan for a moment about its intentions. Hoping to be doing the right thing, Rodan set out to follow the metal bug.
◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆
“The bird has left the nest. The bird has left the nest.” A female voice was heard from the walkie-talkie at the time when a group of people were coming out of hiding in the bushes.
“And you wanted to poison his food.” The girl took off her mask, exposing a blonde ponytail at the same time a bald, taller man watched Rodan fly away from Mara, and get lost in the clouds.
“Shut up, we must act quickly.” The man pointed the way to the volcano, that robot would distract Rodan long enough for the two of them to take the Dorats, as their contractor had told them Monarch was calling them, and get the hell out of Mara.
Giving directions to their team, the man and woman moved away to begin their journey to the volcano while the rest turned back to head for the coast. Once Robert and Marissa would get the Dorats they’d send a helicopter for them, and then theyd escape before Monarch or Rodan found them.
Both hunters hated volcanoes, but it was much better than the snowy mountains. They’d been checking the perimeter, which took them several days to stay in Mara, Rodan protected all sides of his volcano, nothing got out of his sight.
“How much did you say we’d get paid for them?” The blonde girl asked smiling, thinking of the good pay they’d receive once their group would send the message to their contractor.
“Enough to buy an island if we take them all.” Robert answered, still to reach the nest. He just hoped they’d send the helicopter soon, he’d no intention of going down with 18 Titans and a companion who’d no intention of helping.
The heat from the volcano was unbearable, but the profits would be worth it, it was all Marissa could think about, she could finally put this life behind her, no more cheap food, no more sleeping in horrible conditions, finally get all the furs she wanted, all the jewelry she dreamed of.
Once finally near the volcano Robert gave his final directions to Marissa, handing her a pistol with tranquilizer darts. They were just hatchlings, so at least it’d stun them for a couple of hours at the most until their team got to them, and then they’d put them to sleep.
Hiding behind some huge rocks, Robert spied behind it, counting the Dorats; There were twelve playing beside the lava with the other six lying in the nest. It’d be easier to shoot those who were calm, so no strange behavior would arise in their siblings.
Pointing at the six Dorats, both humans fired, watching the darts thrust into their skins — For a moment they thought their skin would be as hard as a rhino’s, but the thought disappeared as soon as the first two fell on the nest, apparently unconscious. They’d to be quick. Soon the six Dorats were knocked down without being able to move, whimpering, confused by why their bodies didn’t respond to them.
One of those who were playing near the volcano heard his sibling’s whimpers and headed for the nest, being followed by the others.
“This gets better.” Marissa happily commented to Robert before continuing to shoot until the eighteen cubs were lying in the nest.
The pair came out of their hiding, walking into the nest, counting exactly 18 Dorats that would make them insanely rich.
“They’re so cute.” Marissa touched one, they’d been easier than the gorilla cubs, but it was obvious that these wouldn’t turn out to be exotic pets. Their skins were covered in golden scales, if she were to shed one perhaps she could pawn it and pass it off as gold, as well as a soft green fur covering their bellies, “I wonder what they’ll do with them.”
“You have no idea how much Jonah loves these little ones.” Robert dragged one to the rest of its siblings, looking at them as they trembled beneath his boots. Gods, huh? They’re just giant, dumb animals. “All the shit I’d to hear from him before we closed the deal.”
“Did he try to recruit you?” Marissa made fun of her hunting buddy.
“My life isn’t inside a humid warehouse.” He lived for the hunt, not for wars and terrorism.
In the distance they could hear the helicopter approaching the volcano.
“It was time.” Marissa commented exasperated as soon as the helicopter landed nearby, “I thought Monarch o Rodan would catch us.”
Robert took two Dorats, placing one over his shoulder and taking the other by its legs, both hunters began to walk towards the helicopter.
The pilot turned his head to see Robert, “We have to hurry!” He shouted, “A storm is coming th— ”
Before Robert or Marissa could set foot near the helicopter, it exploded upon being hit by a yellow electric beam, causing both humans to fly out in different directions along with the Dorats.
Three roars were heard above them and a shadow covered the Sun, something landed inside the volcano, clawing away the rest of the helicopter.
Robert’s and Marissa’s faces turned pale when they saw King Ghidorah in front of them. The Titan who less than a year ago had brought the apocalypse to their world.
◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆
Ghidorah didn’t quite understand what was happening. Rodan wasn’t at the nest, nor anywhere else, but the spawns were alone, and humans had landed on the volcano.
What was going on? Where was Rodan? Why had he left the spawns alone when he was so fascinated by them? Ghidorah kept watching until they saw one of the insects take the little ones and drag them.
They were taking the hatchlings away.
San moved uncomfortable, looking at his two brothers. They didn’t look too good either. Although, the spawns leaving to return to Rodan was one of their plans — This wasn’t the way they’d been thinking it, something made them angry at the mere idea that insects were the ones that were dragging their offspring.
The three snout opened, the electricity ran from their interior to their fangs, ejecting them towards the flying metal object, destroying it in the process. Ghidorah flew directly into the volcano, clawing the remains away and leaving no escape for the two insects who had dared to invade their territory.
As much as attacking the humans meant that the weak King would appear to fight them, seeing their faces full of fear and dread made this all more fun.
A fearful moan caught their attention, the hatchlings were paralyzed in the nest. Ni approached them, moving them with the tip of his snout. The hatchlings stopped crying and trembling, they seemed to recognize that they were their other Parents. Ghidorah could recognize a faint of Rodan’s smell on all of them —
Their anger increased.
They had tried to take their hatchlings away.
Thunder fell near the volcano in the direction of those humans who didn’t hesitate to run. San lunged at the man, catching him between his fangs, hearing his screams, and swallowing him completely.
“Robert!” The girl screamed in terror, turning around, and trying to get out of the volcano, didn’t care if she had to roll out to the coast, she’d to escape, she couldn’t die here, she need to warn the submarine that there’d been trouble —
Marissa screamed when sharp claws trapped her, putting all their weight over her, feeling as the three-headed Titan crushed her until there was no trace of light and her face pressed between scales and volcanic earth, hearing a sadistic laugh, and then all was white noise.
Ghidorah heard how the insect’s bones broke beneath them. They raised their claw, observing a red mass of what was once a human. Ni devoured the rest, leaving no trace that they were ever in their volcano.
A faint grow made them look back.
One of the hatchlings had begun to move, standing in front of his siblings, his little wings were spread out, his little snout showing little pointed fangs, staring defiantly at Ghidorah. So they did remember them. They, despite recognizing them as their Father, also feared them.
Ghidorah leaned their heads towards the little one, recognizing him as the first one to come out of the egg, the little one who had exploded his shell. Ichi glanced at him, hoping to see some of the beams again, but all the little one did was take a little leap forward.
San shook his head, laughing at such an act of their hatchlings.
Their hatchlings. They had hatchlings now.
Ni tried to intimidate the hatchling, roaring, however the little one stood in his place completely fascinated by the powerful roar, and opening his little snout he did the same, but instead a shriek resembling a bidibidi was heard, amusing his Parents. The right head moved their tails, showing their spikes up, and making them sound. Trueno turned to see his own tail, shaking it just as the other Titan did, disappointed by making no noise.
Ni approached the firstborn, moving him slightly with his snout, causing him to stumble and lose his balance, quickly rising up, looking closely at their claws and comparing them to his own.
Little by little the other hatchlings began to move closer to their brother, watching the huge three-headed being who was their other Father. Fuego tried to move until Ichi noticed and the little one quickly returned to the nest.
The middle head looked at the other little ones, biting one of San’s horns, Ichi pointed to the rest of the hatchlings. The two heads leaned towards the nest, San being the first to make contact with them, imitating Ni and soon the left head was being surrounded by a few, putting their front legs on his snout, trying to bite him.
Ichi noticed a couple had fallen behind, they were too small and immobile.
The runt of the litter, he thought.
Nebulosa was the first to approach Ichi, Flama bit her tail, trying to stop her, but as many times before, she was too weak that even her little sister dragged her until they were both in front of their Father.
Watching how Nebula dragged Flama, reminded Ichi of when they were young and San always bit them by the horns to go in the direction he wanted. They were still small so biting them wasn’t an option, but he passed his bipedal tongue over them.
Flama trembled, feeling the cold muscle above her, it wasn’t warm like her Dad’s, but instead Nebulosa stood still, as if she’d been paralyzed again — At least that’s what she thought until she saw her sister move energetically, and run towards their Father, whom she didn’t hesitate to lick his snout, calling her to approach them.
Flama approached with extreme caution, not breaking contact with the middle head until she reached the side of her sister, who insisted her to put her forelegs over the huge snout with many sharp fangs that could tear her apart at any moment.
Their daughter smelled of fear, that’s how the runts lived, still — Ghidorah didn’t want her to live that way, if they’re all their offspring then they should start behaving like one. They are the children of a King.
Ichi slightly moved Nebulosa from his snout, leaving her beside her sister, and at the look of confusion from their daughters, he nuzzled both of them with his snout, hearing little sounds of happiness, and how they both did the same.
Before any of the three heads could stop them, Ghidorah watched their eighteen little ones run beneath them, trying to get them to play with them, biting their spikes or hiding under their wings. Ghidorah lay over the volcano, watching the hatchlings from their place, with three heads was easier.
This is what Rodan had been doing on his own since they left... Their mate was doing a good job, Ghidorah couldn’t help, but wonder what Rodan would do to them once he saw them again in the volcano.
The answer would be here soon, San observed towards the sky, the smell of lava was near.
Their mate was coming back.
◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆
“Robert?! Can you hear me?!”
There was no response.
“Marissa?! Will someone please respond?!” The man speaking on the walkie-talkie became increasingly nervous, recently the transmitter had found an object approaching over the volcano and no one of his friends responded.
For a moment the entire team feared that the bait had failed, and Rodan was returning to his nest — Then they heard the thunder; The helicopter had already landed as soon as Marissa and Robert launched the signal, and so far everything had looked good, but then King Ghidorah appeared.
From that moment on, Charles hadn’t stopped trying to communicate with his companions, but none answered. Maybe they escaped, maybe they hid, maybe they’re already coming here with a fucking animal that would make them rich, anything, but dead!
“Sir,” A woman got off the submarine, “We have to go. Our transmitter picked up some interference. We think Monarch found us.”
“We're not leaving here without my partners!” Charles screamed hysterically, looking at the volcano. It’d been silent for a while since Ghidorah appeared, and cast his beams.
The sound of an object falling into the sea made everyone turn back and their faces pale. The metallic mosquito they’d been using to distract Rodan had fallen on the submarine. It was completely destroyed and melted, and then another sound caught his attention.
A shadow covered them from the Sun, in the silhouette they could see a being spreading its wings, an immense heat began to invade their guts, even though they began to sweat cold.
Charles turned around, watching the King of the Skies in front of him, completely enraged by the bait.
“You motherfucker.” That’s all Charles could say before Rodan got all over him and his team.
Once Rodan was sure that none of those pestering humans had survived — he even made sure that he’d thrown that insect with such force that it sank their ship to the bottom of the ocean — he felt completely satisfied.
They’d tried to keep him away from his nest, from his hatchlings. He left them alone and if — And if Ghidorah hadn’t been around… He might have never see his hatchlings again.
Rodan was relieved. Ghidorah was protecting their hatchlings, just as they should have from the beginning, Rodan knew that in time Ghidorah would get used to the needs of their children, get fond of them, see how equal they were.
Looks like today was that day.
Rodan spread his wings, ready to take flight to the nest, he’d to make sure his hatchlings and mate were well —
A slight vibration was felt beneath his claws.
It was for a moment, but it was there, and if he felt it then surely King Ghidorah must have done it anyway.
Rodan looked towards the horizon, just where that island was.
 There was no doubt.
◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆◇◇◇◆◆◆
His eyes opened as soon as he heard the egg broke, his Queen hadn’t taken off his side since he came to her island and her egg had formed well — Until the last night when she felt that the moment was approaching, and she flew away until she disappeared into the deep jungle.
Rising from his lair and heading for the surface he began to walk towards the center of the cave. His Queen’s song was being sung, he arrived just in time.
The interior of the cave was illuminated by small luminescent colored stones, creating colored reflections on his skin as well as above the murals.
The two female humans stood in front of the egg while his Queen stood behind, hoping to be the first to receive their little one.
Coming close enough he saw a crack at the top, and just as the song continued, the crack over the shell grew larger and larger, until the whole shell was covered in breaks.
A blue, black-spotted wing came out first, followed by a pair on the opposite side of the egg, completely breaking the egg, showing a small, brown head with a pair of small antennas sticking out.
It was then that his little one observed them and then to the two humans accompanying them, gently falling over her chest now that she was finally free, curious about the little beings and their lullaby.
She was completely like him, with the exception of her wings and a white mane around her neck. His Queen sat over his head, nuzzling lovingly, she was happy that their daughter was finally with them.
Both new parents approached the newborn as she stood motionless in her place, even watching the pair of humans who had stopped singing to approach her and nuzzle her lovingly.
The Goddess flew from her King's head to the side of her daughter, who as soon as she saw the same patterns on her wings didn’t hesitate to let herself be covered by her, feeling that protection and security that she once had in the egg. The little one’s eyes looked at her Father who she take after physically, screeching excited.
The King came even closer to his daughter, she was so small and so beautiful, he wouldn’t hesitate to do all he could to protect her.
And he’d do it.
The False King was finally recovered, roaming the world in search of him, and he’d go after them to finish what must have been over in the nest of the humans.
With that thought in mind, Godzilla came out of the cave, he knew exactly where to find them.

still hurting
so this one’s a doozy. i’m just going to start with a disclaimer before anyone gets interested and decides to risk reading if it isnt healthy for them. this story will contain very dark and traumatic descriptions and content concerning sexual violence and rape so if that is something that might be dangerous for you to read or could make you too uncomfortable, please please please do not read this. i will not be offended by anyone who chooses not to read, trust me. i care way too much about all of y’all so just stay safe. i’ll have another fic up tonight that is much lighter.
ok! so now onto all of the nice people that requested this! thank you to the lovely anon who suggested these two prompts, as well as SomedayonBroadway on ao3 that commented on my story ‘hold on’ with an ask for a fic where race gets drugged and this is what i came up with. i also have to give major props to readeatsleeprepeat on ao3 who wrote one of my favorite sprace fics with a similar theme that i just love so all of you should check that out here.
alright well i’ll get on to the fic now, thanks guys:)
“Spot, come on! This might be my chance! His mom runs the casting department for the New York City Ballet, I have to go! Trust me, this date will be completely fake, you know I wouldn’t leave you for anything, let alone this guy, but if it gets me a job, we could finally move out of this shitty place and maybe, I don’t know, take some bigger steps together?” Race was practically begging for Spot to understand, but that really made a difference.
“You’re serious?” He asked shyly, taking Race’s hands with a giddy grin on his face. They had been talking about getting engaged for so long, they had been together for almost five years at that point, but it just wasn’t financially realistic at the time, If this fake-date with some guy Race met in his dance program was the ticket to them eventually being able to get married, then Spot would be happy to give up his boyfriend for the night.
“You promise you’ll be careful?”
“Babe, you don’t have to worry, I swear. If I have any problems, I’ll call you, but he’s harmless. Plus, I only need to do this until I can find out if he can actually get me an audition or not,” Race teased, earning a small chuckle out of his boyfriend.
“Fine, just let me know what’s happening along the way, okay? And tell him you don’t kiss on the first date,” he smirked, capturing the boy’s lips once more before he slipped out the door. “Love you.”
“Love you too,” Race called, stepping into the elevator at the end of the hall and he was gone. Spot closed the door behind him, retreated back to their bedroom, and started working on a paper on his laptop.
He received texts from Race throughout the night, each one bringing a smile to his face as his boyfriend complained about literally everything under the sun.
From Race: he’s wearing cargo shorts save me jesus
From Race: oh my god he just ordered a beer and told the waitress, and I quote, ‘it tastes better on a glass so don’t you dare bring it in the bottle’
From Race: well he bought me a drink so that’s a bonus I guess
From Race: I miss you, this asshole just reminds me of how picky jack is when we all go out
Everything seemed to be going fine with updates every fifteen minutes or so until a little over half an hour passed without a single word.
Spot was sure it was nothing. Besides, he kinda felt bad for the guy knowing Race was basically on his phone the whole time from how often he was texting him, but that quickly disappeared.
From Race: so he just told me he made up the whole thing about his mom just to get me to go out with him
From Race: I’m just going to pretend like I don’t care, go to the bathroom and get the check as soon as I finish my drink. I love you, I’ll be home soon
Spot groaned, running his hands through his hair and closing out the extra real estate tabs on his computer. Oh well, at least they tried.
But then more texts came.
From Race: spot I’m scared I really don’t feel good
From Race: he offered to pay the tab and before I knew it he was shoving me into his car
From Race: baby I’m so scared I can’t move very well I think he’s taking me back to his place
From Race: i’m so sorry sean I’m sorry I love you so much I’m sorry
Spot walked back into their bedroom with a bag of popcorn in his hands, set it down on his desk, and grabbed his phone, opening his texts from Race as his blood ran cold.
No. No, no, no, fuck no.
Not his boy, not Race, never. He choked back tears, grabbed a jacket, his keys, and was running out the door in seconds.
He had no idea where he was going the moment his car pulled out of their building’s parking lot. Still, he drive until he was stopped at an intersection, pulling out his phone and frantically searching for any source that could track Race’s phone.
He found an app, knowing it was linked to his own phone’s account, quickly signed out and began inputting Race’s information. Sadly, the light turned red and he had to stop, taking a few more turns before the traffic started up again and he was finally logged in.
The tracker was slow, probably because Race likely urned his phone off, but he eventually got a location; an apartment almost half an hour in the opposite direction.
At that point he had tears streaming down his cheeks as he gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white, taking as many backstreets and topping off the speed limit for any chance to get their quicker.
Everything felt wrong, it was as if every part of his body was screaming at him to do something, but he couldn’t do it. Still, once he reached the last intersection before the apartment complex, he simply pulled his car over to the side of the road and ran. He ran up the stairs, knowing that there was no way he would wait for an elevator, and he was nearly certain he was about to vomit as he found the room, staring at the slightly-agape door before slamming it open.
The place was just like he imagined, unkempt, sparse, and with an air of what Spot could only describe as hell.
No, he wasn’t scared of this guy. He never got scared of fights.
However he was absolutely terrified of what he might find.
He wanted so badly to just burst through every room until he found his boyfriend, but there were other problems, namely the one standing right in front of him.
“You,” he hissed, charging at the guy who looked utterly perplexed as he turned around. Still, there wasn’t much time for that  before an awful cracking sound erupted from his jaw aw Spot made the first blow. The guy went staggering backwards, clutching his face as Spot simply swung from the other side. This tended to be one of the only times being ambidextrous came in handy.
He was just so beside himself that this man thought Race was his to do what he pleased. That he could just take someone like that, but Spot didn’t care what he thought because in minutes he was out cold on his apartment floor and Spot’s bloody knuckles meant absolutely nothing to him.
Instead, he needed to find the one thing that did matter.
And there he was. Spot swung open the closest door to him and that was all it took. There he was. Spot could hardly believe it as his feet carried him to the bed where his beautiful, broken boy laid motionless. His face, though consumed by unconsciousness, was full of terror and the tear tracks dried onto his cheeks only made Spot’s fall harder.
“It’s okay, baby. I’m here now, I got you,” he whimpered, sliding his arms carefully around the boy’s bare body, taking a bedsheet from the bed and deciding not to waste any time trying to redress the boy in his clothes that littered the floor. He thought about taking them with him, but knew there was no way in hell Race would ever put them back on again, so he let them be. However, he did notice the boy’s binder laying on the ground, which he knew he definitely would want as he picked it up, his heart dropping as he held the one long piece of fabric, a massive rip right down the middle.
He left it behind as well, scooping Race up bridal style and holding him tightly to his chest. The process to get him out of that building was nearly impossible as Spot could barely see through his tears.
The thoughts kept running through his head over and over.
I did this.
I let him go.
I wasn’t there when he needed it.
I couldn’t get there in time.
I let someone hurt him.
This bastard just hurt my baby boy and I couldn’t do a thing to stop him.
Spot gently laid Race down in the passenger seat, making sure he was completely covered by the sheet before climbing into the driver’s seat and practically speeding to the hospital. His hand held firmly to his boyfriend’s until he pulled into the emergency loading dock and carried him inside just the same.
It wasn’t hard to get someone to help them, in fact, it only took a minute or two before a couple nurses came rushing in with a bed and took Race from Spot’s arms, despite his initial protest. He knew he had to let go, but no matter who they were, he just…couldn’t stand it.
He followed close behind them throughout the whole process, explaining everything he knew to another nurse as the others frantically hooked him up to all of their systems. Spot could barely watch as he spoke the word he never thought he’d have to, and the nurse looked to the rest of the team.
“I-I’m pretty sure he was…r-raped,” Spot choked out, breaking down as he did, wanting nothing more than to lie down beside his boyfriend and hold him tight and never let go.
The nurse let him be and went to go order a test, but not before asking a few questions about Race’s…body.
“He’s trans, transgender I mean. H-he’s been taking testosterone for a few years now and his d-doctor says the he doesn’t have to w-worry about any, um, fertility or anything anymore,” Spot mumbled as quietly as he could manage, keeping his gaze set on his hands.
“Okay, well Mr. Conlon, don’t worry about a thing, we’re going to make sure he’s healthy and safe and then I’m sure he’ll be okay to go home in no time,” the nurse assured him as Spot nodded, thanking her briefly before curling up into the chair outside the boy’s room and waiting.
Waiting was torture. All he wanted was to see Race. To just hold him and make sure he was safe, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t for so, so long that he could hardly tell how long it had been when a nurse finally came out of the room and told him he could finally come inside. First, though, the nurse told him exactly what had happened, per Spot’s request. He wanted to know as much as possible just in case Race didn’t know. God, that was sickening itself just to think about.
He told Spot the drugs that were being flushed out of his system, and how the man must have used a combination of two different sleep supplements, not meant to be taken together, and that was why he would have to stay overnight, much to Spot’s dismay. Still, he thanked the nurse and hesitantly made his way into the room.
“Tony?” He hadn’t meant for his voice to sound so scared as he watched the boy on the bed look up at him with tired, terrified eyes.
He looked so small. Just the mere sight of him there was enough to shatter his heart into millions of pieces.
Race just curled in on himself and let out a painful sob as Spot ran to his side, sitting right beside him.
“Baby, I’m so sorry,” he cried, wanting nothing more than to just hold him until they could pretend their world wasn’t falling apart, but he wasn’t sure in Race would even want to be touched, let alone without him asking first. “I’m so, so sorry, ‘Tonio.”
Race just trembled as he curled the thin bedsheets around him as far as possible.
“Can I touch you, sweetheart? I promise I won’t hurt you, I would never,” Spot continued, pleading in his face that Race knew.
He felt his face unable to hold back a smile as the other nodded rapidly and Spot curled up to him tightly. His shaking body slowed slightly with Spot wrapped around him, his strong arms holding him tightly against his chest. Soft kisses were pressed to his neck and shoulders, each one easing Race a tiny bit more.
“I-I’m s-sorry,” Race whimpered before bursting into tears. Spot froze, sitting up so he could see the boy’s face properly. He shakily reached up to cup his cheeks, gently brushing away the tears as they fell.
“No, no, no, baby you don’t have anything to be sorry for, okay? This isn’t your fault, T. You did nothing wrong,” Spot spoke softly, repeating similar renditions of the phrases over and over until Race seemed to actually believe him.
“B-but, I’m broken, Spotty. I…I want to be okay, but I-I’m not! I just can’t do it! I-I’m not okay!” Race’s sobs were like a stab to Spot’s heart as he wrapped his arms around the boy, letting him cry into his shoulder.
“Hey, listen to me and know that I would never lie to you, okay?” He started, feeling Race nod into his shoulder. “There is nothing wrong with you. You’re still the beautiful, hilarious, dumbass I fell in love with and the same boy I will always be in love with. No matter what, I’m here forever, okay? I’m never letting you go as long as you’ll have me.”
Race just nodded, wrapping his arms around Spot’s torso as they laid back down together, Spot doing the same as he ran his hands gently through Race’s hair, pressing a kiss to his forehead as they fell asleep safe in each other’s arms.
They wouldn’t be okay in the morning. They wouldn't be okay in a day or two. They wouldn’t even be okay when the man from that was finally arrested, but things got better. There was a long stretch of time when Race wouldn’t let anyone touch him. Except for Spot, that is. He had to hold onto Spot at all times. The two were inseparable after that, even more so than they had already been for years. They slowly found a way to manage, not quite move on, but they made it through.

It’s time for another interview 😀 Today we’re going to talk with Suzette from @xo_theartist on Instagram! She’s an amazing letterer and her watercolor pieces are beautiful ❤ We actually used Skype to do this interview. It was so exciting, because I’ve never talked to her in person + I rarely video chat! But I loved it so much! I tried my very best to type it out 🙂
Hey Suzette! It’s so nice to talk to you! I only know you from instagram, so I don’t really know a lot about you. I’d love to get to know you better! Tell me some things about yourself and tell me some fun facts about you!
Hi, I’m Suzette I live togerher with my husband and my two kids. My daughter is 11 and my son is turning 6.
For people who follow me on Instagram, everybody knows that I bake a lot when I’m not doing household work or something like that. Next to calligraphy, I like cooking. And because my family loves sweets and desserts in general, I started teaching myself how to bake. So that’s my other passion, besides lettering and painting watercolors, and every once in a while I bring goods to work and they love me for that, hahaha. Sheryl tells me she wants to be my neighbor. And I tell her: of course you can be my neigbour! I need someone to test my bakings for the first time!
Hahahaha, I can imagine! I want to be your neighbor too!
I would love you guys to be my neighbours! We could party all the time! Before I discovered calligraphy, I used to, well every once in a while, paint with watercolors.
Pink for tonight

That’s so cool! I love to cook, but I’m a terrible baker, hahaha! But hey, did you like the interview with Sheryl?  Since she’s one of your best friends too 🙂
I enjoyed it very much! I feel like she’s my other twin. She’s one of my closest friends. Actually, she is one of the very few that became my friend since I joined the calligraphy challenge on Instagram. I was so, so, so nervous when I created my other account which is solely for calligraphy and artwork. I didn’t know what to expect. Again, I’m not a very extravert person, like to putting yourself out there and make friends. It’s always that ‘hesitation’ first. So that was a big thing for me. Now I’m so glad I did it, because you know, now sometimes I try to encourage the new ones. Like posting little comments here and there makes a big difference. That’s how you really make friends. Before I just used to say ‘hi’, ‘thank you’, … and at least now I can comment a little more, hahaha. Sheryl was so friendly and she messaged me and she’s always so encouraging.
You know, what I find is, sometimes we’re too nervous when we’re doing stuff for the first time. But I’ve found that, you don’t have to worry so much about what other people have to say or think. I mean, for me what I found, there are more encouraging people and people that will be proud than you will ever know.
Have a great weekend!!!

That is such great advice. And what you say is so true. I always worry too much about what other people think.. I took me a while to tell people about my blog and only my closest friends know about it now. But Suzette, you know I love your work! When did you start lettering and watercoloring?
Actually, as far as I remember, I always liked to draw. I grew up in the Phillipines, and there we didn’t have a lot of materials. At least not where I lived. I only had the Crayola supertips and pencils. I would draw every once in a while. And then I went to college and started computer engineering. So it was mostly math. But we had a drafting course, and I loved that. That was about the only subject I looked forward too because at least I could draw something there; hahahaha.
After I completed my degree, I moved to Canada. Basically, I totally forgot about painting. And then I met my husband and we went traveling. And about 15 years ago we bought a house. We finally lived in a bigger house, and I had a little bit of time off and I thought to myself: I want to try a new hobby. And then, I don’t know why, but I just saw there was a watercoloring course. So I decided to try it. It was very basic, but I got hooked after that. I started painting, but it was more like detailed paintings where you have to sketch first. I used to do it on those really small canvasses, because when you first start, you’re like so scared to do a big piece. After that course, I got pregnant and I never touched watercolors again.
All this time, I had basically forgotten about it and then 6 years later I had my son. A while after that I stopped working because I had two kids and I needed to spend more time with them.
When my son was 4, he started going to school, and I wanted to go back to work because I missed it. I just wasn’t the type to stay at home. I’d go crazy. So I was job hunting and I started baking again. I was frustrated and I couldn’t find my way back to work. It was very hard, and after a while and out of frustration, I started using watercolors again and I wanted to connect with other people on Instagram that also used watercolors. And that eventually led me to the lettering and the calligraphy. And I was just like “wow”. I was so blown away. In the back of my mind I’ve been wanting to do it too, but I never had the courage to do it. So then I actually tried the pointed pen and it was just a mess. It was a mess, and I didn’t want to do it anymore. It was really frustrating for me when I first tried it and I so wanted to learn it, but I was so, so bad at it! You have to pick up ink all the time. All the preparation drove me crazy, so I said “forget about it”. And then I saw the ‘Show Me Your Drills Challenge’ with The Happy Ever Crafter, and she used brush pens. so thought: at least with this you don’t have to worry about your materials. You buy it, and you’re good to go.
Been sick for the past few days and as soon as I felt a little better, I continued working on this. My worst fear coming to life on G!! 😭 But as always, we learn and then move on.
A post shared by 🍁 Suzette 🍁 🇨🇦 (@xo_theartist) on Nov 26, 2017 at 6:07pm PST
But in the end, you picked it up again, you started writing with the oblique pen again.
Yes. So, last September/October I used mostly brush pens, until the challenge ended. And then in December, when I thought I was ok with the brush lettering and I was pretty much comfortable with the letters, I decided to try it again. So I did a little bit of research here and there and I watched many videos on the internet and the very first thing that they said is “use the G nib”.
We only have very limited art stores here, so I ordered it from the internet and it was like 10 nibs in the pack for the Zebra G. So I tried it, and OH MY GOD, what was wrong with it?! My main problem with the nib was that the ink wouldn’t stick onto the nib and then I tried to write and there was no ink! It was so frustrating! This was driving me crazy. So, I hated the Zebra G. And now I still hate the Zebra G. So I tried something else. Over the holidays, they had some sales. So I bought all these samples of all different nibs, and oh my, it was like a HALLELUJAH moment. So, I got this oblique pen and it was a very good one. I thought was pretty expensive, but it actually was pretty cheap. I think, for a beginner, you don’t have to spend too much money on these materials. That was a big thing for me.
The very first nib that I really, really liked and that I fell in love with was the Leonardt EF Principal.
So that was it, that’s how I started to like copperplate calligraphy and calligraphy in general. And so I started really practicing in January.
Day 9 of #showmeyourwords .
A post shared by 🍁 Suzette 🍁 🇨🇦 (@xo_theartist) on Jun 12, 2018 at 6:20pm PDT
That’s so cool! I’m gonna learn a lot from you! When I’m gonna look for a good nib, you’re gonna be my person! Your work is so good. I see your work on Instagram, but I’ve never seen it in real life. When I got your card, I was blown away. You are just amazing.
I started making friends on Instagram. And I love Instagram because of the community and the support. At some point, someone asked me: do you sell your work? And I said: I just don’t feel like I’m good enough to sell my work. So I told them I don’t sell it, but I would love to send it to whoever would want it.
Well, I think your work is good enough for selling!
Oh, thank you! But anyway, I said, whoever is interested, just let me know and I’ll send it to you. My cards have been sent as far away as to Australia and I’m glad that it’s made its way to you! I’m just happy that somebody is able to appreciate it. That’s my main thing.
I’m so happy with it! ❤ Are there people who inspired you to start lettering and painting in particular?
In the lettering community that would be Suzanne Cunningham. She’s like the master of flourishing. I love, love, love her. There’s also Paul Antonio. When I heard he was coming to Toronto last May I thought I was going to die. I’ve never attended a workshop before and I was so, so nervous. First of all, attending his workshop is like WOW. His workshop was the first workshop I attended and it was very memorable for me. Apart from them, there’s also Nina. She inspired me so much because she does a lot of live videos on Instagram. The thing is, she’s just one of the people, when I meet her, I would probably hug her, because she’s so GIVING. She answers so many questions and she does it for free and in her own free time. She’s one of the most generous people on Instagram I know. I learned a lot from her.
For watercoloring, there’s a few of them, like Yao Cheng and @kuminyoung_artist on instagram.
Happy Hump Day!! Week 1 of #jesandleschallenge with @jeshypark and @leslie.writes.it.all . Because it is still snowing in April 😞
A post shared by 🍁 Suzette 🍁 🇨🇦 (@xo_theartist) on Apr 4, 2018 at 4:25am PDT
Do you have any favorite materials? You told me about of some of your favorite nibs, but what do you like to use for watercoloring? Are there any other specific materials?
I’ll tell you a little secret. Because I like watercolors, you can see I like colors in my work.
Blue is my favorite color. And for my lettering, most of the inks that I use, I mix up. I use food coloring and Arabic gum. It’s only for practice and it’s perfect for me. It’s so cheap and you have so many colors! You don’t have to spend a lot of money in order for you to be creative. I would love to buy all these ‘nice’ products, but for now, I’m good. I have a good oblique pen holder and I have the nibs I like.
For my watercoloring I use Winsor and Newton Professional watercolors which I still have from the courses I followed in the beginning. There’s also the Daniel Smith watercolors. They are amazing. They go a long, long way.
For my brushes, they’re actually really inexpensive too. You can buy the Princeton brushes and they are not as expensive as some others, but they work really fine. I don’t recommend buying all this expensive stuff, especially when you’re starting out.

Those are some wonderful tips! I’’m so curious to know where you work best. Do you have like a studio where you do all your work?
I wish I had a studio. We always talk about how we want something, like the pretty pictures we see on Instagram, hahaha. Right now, I work in our basement. We have an extra room there. It barely has any windows. That’s why all my pictures on Instagram are so horrible, hahahaha. I don’t have that nice natural lighting. I shared a room with my husband, because that’s his computer room and I have a desk over there. A long time ago, when I was first learning how to paint with watercolors, he bought me this table for Christmas. It’s like a drafting table. So I’m still using it now although it doesn’t work quite as well for my calligraphy, because it’s at an angle. So that’s what I have. Nothing fancy. 😉
I think we all would want a studio 😉 And besides that, I think your pictures on Instagram are wonderful!
Are there some things you still struggle with?
Definitly. So, the thing is, both lettering and watercoloring are a work in progress. I love both, but if I don’t don’t practice half an hour or a few minutes a day, it’s like starting all over againg.
Like there was a time when I completely didn’t practice at all. At nighttime, when I have the energy to do so, I try to practice.
Another one of my challenges is the spacing between my letters. That’s something that I’ve been working on. And also, the strokes. I don’t like writing ‘M’ and ‘N’ and letters like the ‘Y’ and the ‘G’. The compound curve is so difficult. Even Paul Antonia says the most difficult name to write is ‘Emma’.
I also had difficulties with the Tombow Dual Tip brush pens. I think I like smaller brush pens better.
Joining and catching up with my #calligrafriends on #showmeyourwords challenge. Hello pointed pen!! It's been a while and it shows 🙈.

Are there any surprising lessons that you have learned along the way?
Yes. There’s no shortcut to practice. You really have to put in effort. That’s really one thing that I’ve learned so far. You have to do your work and sometimes it’s good to look at different artists to see how they do it. That doesn’t mean that you have to copy them or the way they work.
Different artists spend so much of their time trying to practice and that’s why they’re so good at what they do. I have an expectation of myself of what I can and cannot do and the thing is that I have this high standard but I also know that I have to put a lot of effort in it in order for me to achieve it. I can already see that I’m improving, even if it’s only a little. To me, to see a little improvement is a lot.  When you see little changes, when you recognize it looks different. Just concentrate on one thing at a time. Set your priorities.
What are some of the pieces you created that you are really proud of?
There is one that I did recently. I think it was more memorably for me because I didn’t expect it to turn out that well, but it did. It was a car painting. My co-worker was leaving and the first thing that came in my mind was that I wanted to give him something special. And I remembered he loves his car. As soon as I got home, I started working on it. I literally googled it on the internet and I think within 2 hours, I was able to produce it. I showed it to my husband and he said ‘wow, you did this?! It’s so beautiful!’. So, that’s one of my favorite pieces right now. I put lettering on it afterwards too and let all my other co-workers sign it too. We gave it to him the other day and he was beyond happy.
Finally done. Now on to the lettering part…

Do you have other tips for people who just start watercoloring?
It’s frustrating to start. But I always say: there are so many distractions when you look at other people’s work on Instagram, that it can be hard to find what YOU want to do. Think about what you really, really want to do. Is there a particular flower that appeals to you? Then paint that one over and over again. Take a break in between because it doesn’t come out the way we want to the first time we do it. But the more you do it, the better it’s going to be. Pick a simple one that you think you can do first, because that builds up your confidence. And once you feel comfortable doing it then move on to the next one. But it should always feel like “because you want to do it”, because YOU like it. Start with one thing and do it over and over again until you feel more comfortable. Also, when you work with watercolors, paper makes a big difference. You don’t have to buy the super expensive paper, but just make sure that it’s a 140 pounds. Not less than that, because that will just buckle.
I love the *new* #showmeyourflorals monogram workbook 😍 It inspire me enough to get out of my watercolor rut. Here is my version while trying to learn how to paint icelandic poppies. Thanks again @thehappyevercrafter and @stephaniefehrenbach
