Kinda a (long) rant about this movie situation.
I have seen a lot of posts (mainly from States) saying that Europeans are way too sensitive about this Fire Saga what ever situation, that the movie should be taken with a sense of humour, and that people from States doesn't even care about our stupid competition (when joked that they made this movie because of jealousy.)
Please note that this isn't the end of the world, or the most pressing issue to be solved, and Eurovision fandom surely knows it. Still, it doesn't change the fact, that this movie wasn't the Eurovision representation we hoped for.
TL;DR in the end
So here me out.
I'm not even ashamed to say, that this Eurovision movie didn't spark a joy in me, and that I'm tired of people who don't understand Europe, and the worth of Eurovision for this continent.
Eurovision is one (1) single thing, that honestly unites Europe. The European Union consists 27 countries, and the whole continent 51. There are about 750 million people living here, and about 450 million in the Union. So obviously the cultural differences here are huge.
These 51 countries includes: one of the most powerful countries in the world, a dictatorship, few countries with worrying state of democracy. Poor countries, rich countries, welfare states, countries which have faced a devastating humanitarian crises and wars no longer than 30 years ago, old countries, and countries not older than 10 years.
Creating unified European identity is really hard, even within the Union. And we are always compared to other parts of the world as the European Union. Sure, it's a great comparison since the Union and the States are approximately same size in population, but this erases the fact that there are 27 independent nation states in the Union with their own norms, laws and leaders. Not to mention, that Europe ≠ European Union.
We don't have sports, politics, religions or even cultures, which could unify whole continet. So to be able to unite it once a year is a miracle, that shouldn't be belittled or say that it is useless.
Eurovision has a long, succesful history of doing this. First contest was held in 1956, to unify war torn continent. Lets not forget, Europe was devided ideologically and politically. Old enemies were suddenly friends, and old friends were now enemies. Many countries were in ruins both literally and figuratively. It's not a small thing if a song contest is able to do this barely a decade after a world war tore through whole Europe, and keeps doing so six decades later.
ESC might be silly and over the top, but it's our silly and over the top. It's one thing Europeans can discuss with each other and everyone can understand the concept. It's a safe platform for marginalized groups to show their art and communities in a very large and public place, and in countries that tries to deny those communities. It isn't only about the music, it's about the possibility to share our cultures as well as be as freely who we are, when not everyone has right to do so in their every day life. Eurovision isn't without a flaws, but it has shown it's commitment to human rights more than once in recent years.
Eurovision is also a few of those things, that is truly ours (and Australians, but you know.) We live in a world full of news about US. Past four years I don't remember a single day reading/watching our national news and not seeing news from across the pond.
Sure US politics have been kinda crazy lately, but I have a hunch, that most of people there cannot tell as much about a European country's (not UK) politics, as Europeans can about US politics. We read, write and post about problematic politics in the States constantly, and worry how their foreign policy desicions will affect our countries.
And it is not just about politics. We watch American movies, tv shows, read American books, eat American foods and follow American celebrities. We use US based platforms; US based companies collect and sell our data. To be able to understand (internet) culture we need to speak English and understand how the States works as a society.
We live in very US centric world right now, that is unavoidable, but I wish Americans would regonise that. There are many issues in US that are not relatable in European countries (example gun violence, or electoral colleges). We have own problems in our countries, and yet we still need to hear about and understand yours all the time, whether we wanted it or not.
Eurovision is one piece of culture that is just European. There is a reason why we don't want Americans to be involved. We don't really care if you don't care, we are going to make these jokes anyways, because we have to care so much about your problems and culture. This is our moment to atleast pretend that US doesn't matter. Once a year we can be in our own bubble without worrying if there is going to be nuclear war next week.
So sure, we are going to be salty and sensitive about this, but it is going to be a big of a deal for like 6 days max. We are going to return to post about BLM, and gun laws and Donald Trump. But I think we have a right to be salty. Some Americans (who don't even care about our stupid competition) made a movie about our thing, made some beginner level mistakes and used the most tired European/Eurovision stereotypes.
Will Farrell maybe great guy and Eurovision fan, but it isn't the same. I know they probably tried their best to make this fun and light, but it wasn't probably the best way to tell about Eurovision for wider audience.
Maybe, just maybe this could have been our movie to make, and our story to tell? There isn't that many European movies about Superbowl, is there?
TL;DR
Living in the US Centric world is really tiring sometimes as we need to learn and understand at least our own countries and US politics and cultures, and stress about said politics' effects on our countries and continent. Beside that, we have our neigbouring countries and European Union to worry about.
Eurovision is one thing that unifies Europe and its vastly different countries. It's okay not to understand it, but being disrespectful about it is just super rude. Europe is full of problematic shit and we know it, but Eurovision isn't one of them, so just leave it alone.

How would Mitsuhide, Mitsunari and Masamune react to an MC (not s.o yet) w/ sleeve tattoos?
Sorry that I took so long to answer but here you go~
The 3 M’s and their reactions ^^
Mitsunari
He’s completely fascinated by it
Prepare yourself to be bombed by questions
“Did it hurt?“
“Why did you choose that motive? Is there any meaning behind it?“
He is so convinced by your reasons and wants to get a sleeve tattoo, too
Doesn’t go through with it though
Hideyoshi didn’t allow it
He’s often distracted from work because your tattoos got his full attention
You even managed to rip him out of his trance-reading by just walking by
From that moment on everyone knew of his affection for you
Except him because he’s a dense little bean when it comes to something else than military tactics
Masamune
He LOVES it!!
“What does this symbol mean? And this one?“
It’s the first time he sees a woman with her whole arm covered in ink
“Wait? That’s really ink? Under your skin?“
After you explained the process of how this was made in your time he was so excited!
“So I can just use my sword and some ink to carve myself a dragon tatoo?“
MASAMUNE NO!
You actually have to stop him from trying
He’s rather fascinated that you were brave enough to mark your whole arm for the rest of your life
And you should get used to your arm being held constantly
He tries to get every little motive and their hidden meaning
After a while he came to realize that he didn’t just like the way it looked but mostly because it meant so much to you
Mitsuhide
So this girl decided to cover her whole arm in motives?
Interesting
After a few days of tactical ignoring he appears behind you and starts to ask questions
“Was there a reason for you to cover your arm in these patterns?“
After you explained to him your reasons and that you wanted to display your beliefs and convictions he was taken aback
You are a strong women indeed
You aren’t afraid to show what you think
He is impressed
Even days after that conversation he wasn’t able to completely ignore you when you walked by
He was way too fascinated by your desicion on how to portray yourself
And he wasn’t able to hide the fact that he really likes the way you’re doing it
There was a feeling fighting its way to the surface that he tried to suppress
But being able to see your tattoos every day made him slowly lose that battle

How to protect yourself against mindset and world-views manipulation online
Social-networks have become a great tool to hijack the attention of the masses, conducting manipulation on our mindset and world-views. Political interest groups, commercial organizations, and foreign governments use those platforms to influence the way we view the world with a surprising ease.
The combination of user personal data and AI is a fertile ground for crowd manipulation, which is essentially “mind hacking”, and should be treated just like illegal computer hacking.
For more on this please read “21 Lessons for the 21st Century” by Yuval Noah Harari.
There are potential solutions to this issue, among which is the concept of using Ai to protect ourselves from mindset and world-views manipulation online.
why-fake-news-isnt-the-problem-social-ai-is
From the Perspective Guard Blog
Why we should blame Facebook, instead of Fake News
Basically, social-networks are a good thing
Services like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram and Reddit have become a cornerstone in our everyday lives, from keeping in touch with friends, reading news, discovering great vacation destinations, or enjoying original content, the social media revolution was mostly beneficial for the user.
When Zuckerberg started Facebook back in 2004, it was a great solution for a need in the world - connecting everybody and making communication and sharing better.
Many predicted that the social revolution will allow individuals spread ideas and worldviews, reach like-minded people, and basically democratize the information ecosystem, which back then was controlled by several media outlets and news companies.
Since then Facebook and Twitter played a major role in many political events on a global scale, such as sparking social movements, helping organize protests, overthrowing totalitarian regimes, and overall making more voices heard.
The negative aspects came into play when the ads business model was introduced, which is all about stickiness and drawing more eyeballs, increasing conversion, and maximizing revenue, pushing the users interests aside, and changing the incentives and moral compass of those companies.
Adding AI into the mix
The merger of AI and ads is only natural, and proven to be effective in service the right ad, in the right time, to the right person based on multiparameter prediction.
Ads service AI’s are constantly monitoring our interests and behaviour, and keeping a detailed record about our personality profile.
Today’s profiling AI is arguably understanding us better than we understand ourselves. A proof of that can be found in the phenomena of users complaining about Facebook showing surprisingly specific ads, followed by a claim that Facebook is recording their voice without consent (https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/facebook-listening-listen-does-is-microphone-app-phone-mark-zuckerberg-a8299281.html).
The reality is probably simpler, and can be explained by a combination of great amount of personal data gathered legally, external data sources, and extremely accurate AI suggestions.
Nevertheless, those incidents highlight the issues that rise when AI meets users and content delivery.
Google, Facebook and Twitter pouring billions into research and development of their data and AI infrastructure, employing hundreds of Phd’s, so it’s easy to see how they’re getting surprisingly strong results.
Fake news is not the real problem
Since the 2016 US election, we’ve been exposed to everything from political controversy, to foreign governments weaponizing social networks and conducting direct crowd manipulation.
One can claim that the conditions were right for the symptoms to appear - the futile ground of AI-powered social media and abundance of personal data made it easy for adversaries to take advantage of the opportunity.
Fake news and Tweet farms are being used at scale to inject carefully engineered content, that reach the right people at the right time, and had the desired effect.
These methods aren’t different from the targeted advertising methods we’re exposed to on a daily basis.
The real problem is our digital realm is the sheer amount of personal data and AI technology that Google and Facebook own, which being mainly use to make more ads money.
Fighting fake news is a shellow and symptomatic approach, that blames the immediate suspect, and tries to fix the and most obvious issue, pulling the spotlight from the deep questions we should ask Facebook, Google and Twitter.
It’s easy to imagine how even without fake news and tweet-bots that spread inflammatory content, the sophisticated adversaries can find a way to use real news, highlight real tweets, and spread divisive and contentious messages, that ones again will reach the right people in the right moment, and will have the desired effect of targeted social engineering.
Your mind is hackable
Our brain is a decision making machine, processing sensory inputs from the world and trying to build an accurate mental model to act upon.
Once our informational intake includes Google, Facebook and Twitter, our input can be biased, and so are our worldviews, beliefs, mindset and behaviour.
Human-hacking or brain-hacking is a term coined by Dr. Yuval Noah Harari, when describing a world where AI can understand the internal workings of the human psyche in high detail, and use it for its own purposes.
(For a full interview: https://www.wired.com/story/artificial-intelligence-yuval-noah-harari-tristan-harris/).
When discussing the concept of hacking the human mind, we’re not talking about a hypnosis-like state mind-control as portrayed in sci-fi novels and Hollywood films.
The real danger is subtle, and subconscious exposure to carefully engineered messages, that can affect our worldviews, attitude towards products, topics, and groups of people.
For example, a recent Harward publication claims that our purchasing desicions are 95% subconsious (https://www.inc.com/logan-chierotti/harvard-professor-says-95-of-purchasing-decisions-are-subconscious.html).
Back in 2016, Facebook was caught conducting psychological experiments on it’s users (Facebook Tinkers With Users’ Emotions in News Feed Experiment, Stirring Outcry), which is showing the level to which those companies invest in understanding human psychology, willingness to temper with it, and the ease at which users can be manipulated unconsciously.
What can be done?
Critical thinking and fact-checking are extremely important to validate our beliefs, but as history and research indicate, people are far more susceptible to social engineering and emotional manipulation than we tend to think. We tend to and even the most logical of us can hold irrational, contradictory, and sometimes harmful worldviews.
Protecting our mind is hard, simply because we know less than our adversaries about the inner workings of our own brains and psychology.
A more practical approach is to use new kind of AI on the users side, to contra the AI that’s being used by social networks and search engines.
While the incentive of the companies AI is to increase ad revenue by any means, the user-side AI can monitor feed posts, suggestions and search results presented to the users, and take action when there’s a manipulation attempt on the user.
The Perspective Guard Project
Several months ago, after understanding what was happening in social media, Cambridge Analytica social engineering, new trends in AI, and how the future could evolve according to Yuval Noah Harari, Sam Harris and others, me and a couple of friends started to think about ways to create tools to protect ourselves and others from potential world views manipulation online, and so we started working on a side-project we called Perspective Guard.
We’ve spent some time researching theories of personality involved in Cambridge Analytica (especially 5 personality traits model: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Five_personality_traits), and the practical ways sociaty is getting more polerized and hostile towards oposing groups, focusing mainly on phenomena like the outrage culture, tribalism, hatespeech, fake news, and other threats.
What we came up with is an AI solution that runs inside the browser, analyzing posts, tweets, subreddits and other textual content that users are exposed to. The AI is tracking the nature of the content, making sure you’re not exposed to suspiciously high levels of content with negative influence on the mindset and world views.
For more information about the project, and if you’d like to get involved please visit https://perspectiveguard.com or email us at [email protected]

WARNING: This blog may/do contain nasty words for some ears.
S E X
What comes to your mind after reading the word above?
Is it
The male and female?
The sexual activity?
L O V E
How about love? What does it mean for you?
Dangerous?
Or something that helps you face the roller coaster of life?
In today's blog, we are going to tackle about sex, yes sex but you should not worry. We are going to dig what what is love and lust in sex. I am going to talk about the profound meaning of sex, not the superficial meaning of it.
In today's generation sex is normalized. Yes, sex is normal but the problem is even the kids, aged 5 and above knows it. They can shout the tagalog word of sex publicly or in the street. If someone is with a guy or a girl, regardless of them being friend only or being in a relationship and kids on the street saw them, they shout tagalog word of sex towards them publicly, without knowing them personally, they shout nasty words to people on the street if they are with opposite sex which can make the two people shy or pissed. Should we blame them? Maybe the reason why they knew or learned how to talk things like that is because of the society we live in today. Their peers, social media or also even a random kid like them on the street.
Social media. Another factor is social media. Facebook, Instagram and other social medias have age restrictions but we can't stop the iGen/GenZ (ages 8-25) and even Gen Alpha (ages 1-7) using it as early as 7 year old. According to actforyouth.net, 9 out of 10 teens, aged 13-17 use social media platforms and 81 percent of teens now uses it. In short, many teens uses social media but the issue is, the middle aged people in social media, for example twitter, normalizes sex. They are proud that they had sex, they are proud that they experienced deep kissing, they are proud that they go to bars and other stuff that should not be normalized. Most men on social media are proud if they had sex with a girl, if they experienced sex many times, they even tell it to their friends. Seems like doing things like that makes them cool and famous, not thinking that they are surrounded by innocent kids, which are not innocent now.
Which is another factor of why pre-marital sex happens. What is premarital sex? pre means before, marital is marriage. In short, premarital sex is sexual activity before marriage.
TEENS
Teens mostly do pre marital sex. Even at the age of 13, teens could do that. Peer pressure is a reason of why teens do PMS. Teens are not only blind in terms of love but also blind in terms of friendship. Sometimes in life, we really make a mistake in choosing our friends. We choose happiness over right, we choose popularity over simple life, we choose wrong friends because we are afraid that we have no someone to stick to. That's why peer pressure happens. If a teen in the squad, had sex, they tend to push their other friends too or it happens mostly when you got fake friends. They force a friend they don't like to do something bad which makes them satisfied when a person suffer from consequences that he/she didn't want to do also. Guess what? Not only by peer pressure but boyfriend/girlfriend pressure. When their partner forces them to do sex, they do not have the choice to refuse or they also badly wanted it because of the curiousty. Curiosity is also a reason. Teens knew that sex is pleasurable that's why they wanted to try it.
ADULTS
Yes, adults can also belong in premarital sex. If they are in 20's, 30's and above, if they are not married, even if they are engaged, they belong in people who do premarital sex. Rebellion, adults do PMS in order to prove to themselves or other people their independence. Media, society and pressure are connected to each other, those three affects the adults of why they do the pre-marital sex. Media, normalizes the pre-marital sex. If a scandal spread, they will point their fingers to the person who took the video but not those who did the sexual activity. Society which pressure one's decision in life. They will probably say "hey, that's normal," "yuck, you are rot" things that will affect the desicion of a person. Since they are aging, they think that not having "experience" make them older that's why they choose to lose their virginity to fit the expectation of society even if it will bring down their dignity.
There are things that happiness don't last, just like pre marital sex. Yes it maybe fun at the beggining and when it is happening but "consequences" do exist. As what I've said, peer pressure can be the cause of pre marital sex, which means there is a possibility that the one who did that really don't want to do it and it can cause stress and depression while doing it or after doing it. Further effects like low grades since the attention focuses on the stress and depression, and also your focus on God or relationship in God can be lost. That's the worst thing I think that could happen to one's life because God, He's our guide. Who are we if we don't have Him? What are we if we lost connection to Him? Where are we if He's not beside us? People lost connection in God, especially when they had PMS because when they get depressed, they will blame Him for what has happened to them when in fact, it was their choice. Human's choice, human's action, human's consequences. We should remember that He will forever and ever forgive us because he love us so we should not worry. He is not the cause of why consequences happens to us. He love us, aren't he? So why he would do that? We should ask ourselves 10 times before doing things so that it won't mess our lives.
Since premarital sex is made sometimes unintentionally, made out of lust and etc, separation may happen which mostly affects the child.
Let us dig deeper.
That's not only how things happen. There are consequences that doesn't just affect yourself but even the people around you. When pre-marital sex unintentionally produces a baby, poverty can happen. Pre marital is sex before marriage right? and marriage should be planned so when premarital sex, unintentionally produces a baby, therefore they are not ready to provide and grow the baby they have. Chained to that is if the parents are schooling, they have the chance to quit because they can't provide the needs of the baby so they needed to focus on work. The effect of poverty is being theives, prostitutes and etc.
That's how pre marital affects the life of a person. It does not only have one consequence, but consequences that are chained to each other.
Connecting each other that I have said, seeing every detail of it is the effect of blurred definition of sex. We lack knowledge about sex, about how it should be done, about the purpose of sex. Our knowledge about it is only half of the whole thing about sex.
Sometimes most of teens live in a house where they think that sex is bad and embarrassing but little did they know that sex should be taught first in their houses. Parents think that they should avoid talking about sex whenever they are with their child, absolutely that is right but on the other hand, sex should be talked too when there are childrens, not in an indecent way but in a way where children will learn. Parents should know how to have a heart to heart talk with their children.
What should be taught by parents?
Purpose of sex
Teens and children should know the purpose of sex. That it is sacred and not should be done carelessly or just because your mind told you to do so. Sex is a gift from God, yes. Sex is done for preocreation, for having a baby and baby is also a gift from God too.
When does sex should be done?
Parents need also to teach it. Of course, sex should be done after marriage. Sex is enjoyable, pleasurable, and good but do not do it just because of that. Sex is don after marruage, when you have wedding ring, not engagment ring, or not when your boyfriend gave you ring that are from the sidewalks or even at the malls. Girls shouls remember that they are pleasure, that they are treasure. When you say treasure, it means very important. So girls shoud not easily give her's to his.
The reason why I have entitled this blog "a love in sex" because we should not have sex just because of lust butbecause of love. We should remember that our choice, our consequences. Sex is not a thing that is don because you wanted it, it is a thing that needs deep thinking, wisdom, knowledge before doing it.

#money really is root of every tho makes ppl act funny do funny things believe funny ways. It can turn an honest man into a savage without knowing it. Unless you truly are disciplined to understand how this works money still has control of you and will change you too! I once lived a very wealthy life. I'm talking high upper class American. Drove a very expensive vehicle lived in a A "mini mansion" had every dope ass device out in fact two of everything if not more just because I could. Money was infinite actually. My mom used to tell me to chase my dreams since I didn't have to worry about bill finances. She'd say go to school as a back up in case something happens. You never know what will happen with ur eyes shut. My mom said do as much as you can do to get to your dreams and passions because right now you have that opertunity and most don't get to do that but most of all mabye you'll find the happiness that's missing. I didn't listen tho I stayed miserable.kept blowing money on things to make me happy but it was always temporary and I didn't know why. I shared the wealth but that didn't make me happy either more like unappreciative without realizing it at the time. Shit happens tho, I had to make a desicion to leave my life like it was or journey deeper into an abyss of possibilities.i left everything behind and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do I left it behind after clawing onto it with my nails bleeding till I let go. #letgo #letitgo and it was uncomfortable. I got depressed at first cuz I couldn't buy the luxuries I was used to and I left my social environment so I was alone. When your alone and soul searching you don't realize how loud the truth is and painful it can be till you accept it and stand the fuck back up. I'm a lot happier spiritually these days, #2016 been back on track new life new strife but new everything. I was making it, satisfied, comfortable, struggle is always real tho and I wasn't miserable."life happens not shit happens." I had to make another decision that would affect my life and effect my attitude towards money again. This time I had to choose to keep living a acceptable life broke as fuck but happy as fuck, ---OR----

♡ Book Day Tag ♡
Since I brewed up this tag by myself I gotta do it!
1. Favourite author from your country? I like Benedict Wells a lot, despite the fact media likes to call him a second John Irwing which is… inaccurate. I find little hey have in common. Anywho, his Spinner is easily one of my favourite books especially for people of my age/ college Students.
2. Favourite children’s book? Top contentors are basically all Astrid Lindgren books and Die wilden Hühner, but I think I will go with “Der Spinatvampir” by Gudrun Pausewang, which is a lovely tale about why it’s good to be different, vegetarian food and pancakes.
3. A book that changed your life? I said it before, I’ll say it again, “Walden”, which is an obvious pick. It changed my view on life and living, it’s bare bone down to the essential questions. It takes a while to read and digest, but makes you want to read so much more Thoreau.
4. The best book you read this year is…? Ugh, I am too lazy to check goodreads but I think it was the first Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater? I purely only bought it because Marie liked them and I trust her bookish desicions, I guess, but man… these books. I am not suuuuper big on fantasy, as said before, but I like books with well fleshed out believable characters and deep relationships. That being said the relationships between the Ravenboys are so well done. More Friendships like those! Also I utterly and deeply love Gansey.
5.The worst book I read this year? Uhm. I didn’t read as terrible books as I did last year? (Where I read Houllebeq completely misinformed and hoboy. What a piece of shit.) I think reading John Irwing was kind of a letdown? It was not a bad book overall but I expected more of it? My dad absolutely LOVES Irwing … and Hotel New Hampshire was kind of yucky with its portraial of incest sooooo … leave incest out as a plot device…
6. A book that is overrated to you Oh lord. I’m not gonna say faust! I’m not that much of a hater (who am I even kidding I am) Absolute Beginners is a book I read this year and felt it was kind of meh, it was advertised as such a culturally important piece and milestone with its talk if youth culture and racism in the UK. And honestly it was fairly mild? I would rather have read a book by someone or about someone who is actually affected by racism rather than yet another white teenager, you get me?
7. Randomly recommend a book Half broke horses by Jeanette Walls. Made every woman of my household read it.
Tagging time! I tagged a slew of people yesterday but on top of that! @inquisitorsirjohannvonfallbaer, @rocondil, @jeannakirschtein, @zerfindung for funsies

Chapter 3: Manage Your Energy, Not Your Time
The title is already an interesting approach to time management, or rather, energy management. I found the tips and advice in this chapter very helpful, especially the point which states that you should notice the signs of  flagging energy. I think we often ignore the fact that we are tired and worn out because we are working against time. This leads to us feeling even more worn out and we do not being as productive then! Knowing when to take a break is just as important as the project you are working on.
One point which I’d have to disagree on is that you should take breaks away from your desk every 90-120 minutes. I feel that I can never concentrate for this long and I think it is better to take breaks every 45-60 minutes.
One point which I often find myself practicing is looking at a situation with a wide lense. I always try to think of how others might view a situation or how a choice I make in the given situation will affect my life in the future. My making rash desicions you might end up creating more work for yourself in the future. It is better to work smartly than to work long and hard!
Lastly I love the point which says that you chould create allocated times in the day to respond to emails, messages, etc. Along with this, I would add checking social media. I think time is often wasted on these and we take away valuable time of our days by constantly checking our phones.

Song Analysis 1 - Nearly Had it All
1. Make a copy of the lyrics to the song and enlarge. Annotate these.
* uploaded on a seperate image post*
2. What is the song about? Describe the scene. What happened before this scene to lead to the moment?
This song is situated around the splitting up between Rita and Eddie O’Grady. The scene prior to the songs includes Rita saying goodbye to her children, and then an argument with Eddie, resulting in a split. The dialogue within the scene flows straight into the song, as the lyrics become apart of the break up. For example, Eddie ends the dialogue mid argument by saying “I didnt walk out, you did” Rita then begins singing, “ I’m supposed to hate you, but I dont”. The song then continues, as Eddie leaves the stage, Rita sings out to the audience, as she explains herself, justifying her actions in the recent past to Eddie. For example, “ I cant let anyone down, so what am I supposed to do”. The song continues in this same theme, yet progresses as she begins to find strength and motivation in herself.
3. What is the purpose of this song?
The purpose of the song is for Rita to justify her actions and reasons to both herself and Eddie. Additionally, the song progresses as Rita finds motivation and happiness in the desicions she’s made. The song shows the breakdown and affects that the strike has had on Rita’s personal life, therefore it shows the devleopment of characters and relationships. The purpose is to portray the emotional rollercoaster that Rita has been on through the show, and how she’s going to come out at the other side, stronger.
4. Where does the song take place? How does this affect your singing, movement? i.e in a car
The song takes place outside in a park. My movement is effected as i need to show that I am outdoors. To show that I am in an open space, i walk around the stage and use the space that I have to symbolise the space i would have, walking around a park. Furthermore, I wear a coat within the scene, and i fold my arms or put my hands in my pocket to show that it’s windy or cold. Also, there is a park bench within the set, therefore my blocking includes sitting down on it. This referrs back to a previous scene where Eddie and Rita cuddle on the same bench, therefore using it makes the scene more emotional and nostalgic.
5. Who are you singing to?
As Rita I start by singing to Eddie, then to him indirectly, as he leaves the stage. The song then progresses and I begin to sing to Eddie, the audience and to myself.
6.  Who or what are you singing about?
Throughout the song I sing about current, previous and future issues that i face as the character Rita. For example, the fact that her and Eddie have split up, the pressure put on her leadng the strike, and the loss of her children and the effect on her finicial and social life.
7. How do you feel during the song? Plot how the emotions change on your lyrics / 8. What are the inner/outer feelings of the character in the song?
At the start of the song, my character has just experienced a breakup, therefore i’m expressing emotions such as sadness, deflation, and heartbreak. Then as the number progresses, I begin to become angrier, and motivated. My the end I am still saddeened by the break up however I am encouraged and inspired to stay positive and move forward.
9.  What facial expressions will you use to show what your characters are thinking or feeling in the song?
Throughout the song, my expressions alter throughout as I portray different emotions. For exmple, as the song starts and I am angry and deflated with Eddie, I scrunch my face and frown whilst tilting my head to my shoulder. Furthermore as my feelings alter and i become more motivated I chnage my face and posture by looking up and out to the audience. I then change my expression my smirking and pouting my lips to show that I am strong minded and determined.
10-  What gestures will you use to show what your character is thinking or feeling in the song?
As my characters thoughts and feelings change throught the song, as do my gestures. An example of this would be that when i’m upset and uncomfortable after I argue with Eddie I keep my arms folded, this is to show that I am reserved and sad. However as the song progresses and my mood changes to a more positive attitude, I stand taller, put my arms by my side, and clench my fists to show that I am strong and confident.
