#KDRAMAWOMENSWEEK 2023 | March 8th – 15th  2023
[alternatively: a week and one day to talk about and make things for women you appreciate in celebration of International Women’s Day] Inspired by @evansbrewster that’s no longer on Tumblr.com.
@kdramaladies will be hosting the event as well. I’ll reblog where I can and try to be present. Prompts courtesy of @dramaheroine who has dont 99.9999% of getting this week to happen, prompts and more, thanks so much. Gifs courtesy of @cuddlybitch, @haeyeongs and @orangesyellow. Thank you all so so much. Thank you to everyone that checks in about this when I am sure I’ll be sitting it out. KWW has been happening for eight years, this being the ninth which is nuts.
Please tag your posts #kdramawomensweek and/or @undergroundkdrama so they are easier to find, admire, and reblog.
Day 1: In Her Head
Women with rich inner worlds, full of hidden thoughts, desires and fantasies. Are her thoughts being revealed to the viewers in visually exciting ways? Think dream sequences, a touch of magical realism, voiceovers, a cut to a talking head or perhaps weird little animated cells…
Day 2: “It” Girl
2021 was all about Haves and Haves Not x2000. 2022 was the year of women in the legal profession. Tell us which of the characters fitting this year’s trend you have enjoyed the most and why. What made them better than the rest? Or what else do you think has been a popular theme/genre/topic for 2022 dramas? How did women fit into the equation? Here are a few examples: gangsters, “behind the scenes”, school violence, countryside living etc.
Day 3: The Help
Women holding everything together in the background, women who have to do all the dirty work, who do thankless labour regardless of the setting or time period. Servants, secretaries, domestic staff, cleaners, nurses, nannies, care workers, housewives…Let’s put some time aside to ‘celebrate those who don’t celebrate’ because they are too busy keeping things running.
Day 4: Bad Girls Club
Everyone loves an angst filled, angry revenge drama so lets talk about the women who seek revenge? Women who hold grudges and whose hearts are filled with rage. Women who hurt others (knowingly and unknowingly). Women who seek power over others and/or themselves in cruel ways. A day for celebrating women’s wrongs.
Day 5: Recommend Her!
Choose your fave – give us a Top 10 that you think she’d make e.g. Spotify Wrapped, her 2023 reading list, her watchlist. Personally, I think that Lee Yeo Reum from Summer Strike listens to a playlist like this (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3yrqVOEnwQG4z8czX8qD4k?si=36e45bbaeaad4892) as she walks around the village trying to make sense of who she is and what she wants. Today’s a day for projecting and recommending. Sneak your recs in here.
Day 6: Funny Girl Woman
We know women are funny, here’s your time to show love to the actresses who predominately act in comedies, female characters who you find hilarious and actresses who provide the perfect comedic relief every time they pop up onscreen.
Day 7: Lee Yoon Jung/Noh Hee Kyung OR Surprise!
Two pioneering women behind many of our classic favourite dramas. Think of this as a space for tributes to them, what you love about their dramas, Lee Yoon Jung’s direction, Noh Hee Kyung’s writing, your favourite female characters from their dramas… OR  Your favourite cameos by actresses! Who used their tiny bit of screen time in the best way possible?!
Day 8: Timeslip
What if time travel really existed? What if two female characters from different dramas, from different tv eras could meet? How are they connected? Why should they meet? Think of this as an opportunity for you to travel back in time.
Please also feel free to be inspired by the prompts from previous years (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2020 Part Deux, 2021, 2022).

i have a request if possible ? for a tara carpenter x reader , or any jo character as you see fit , but in my head , it’s always been tara and no gf au-
so basically , if you’re familiar with 5 seconds of summer , every time i listen to them (their self titled album, specifically heartbreak girl) i always come up with like scenarios of r, mindy, amber and wes being 5sos basically and having r write that song about tara and how she’s always calling/texting r about the problems she’s having with chad without realizing that r is in love with her
which ofc leads r to go to amber, mindy and wes to write that song together and having them preform at a local bar/club or something because they’re locally known and tara, sam, chad and the rest of the friend group is in the crowd, being supportive- but once they hear the song , they immediately know who it’s about and just look at tara awkwardly , and- that’s as far as i’ve gotten
Heartbreak Girl
Tara Carpenter x gn!Reader (Request)
First of all, thank you for the request, it kind of just flowed out and here it is. I went with gender-neutral Reader since you didn't specify the gender. I hope you'll enjoy reading this.
Masterlist
Word count: 2.5k
It was happening again, your only saving grace being the fact you weren't there with Tara as she sobbed. You could almost see her, sobbing into her pillow to make sure Sam couldn't hear her.
And it broke your heart to hear you cry. It shattered it even more that she kept putting you through it again and again. Always for the same reason.
"I know I should have seen it coming, but it still hurts, you know? I still love Chad, I just can't get over him," she sobbed and you stopped pacing your room to lean back and rest your head against the wall. You knew the story, you heard it from Tara countless times. Tara and Chad were in a relationship, they worked the summer job together and met Liv. Chad fell in love and broke up with Tara. The rest was history, and Tara, sharing Chad's circle of friends, and still being in love with him, couldn't move on.
One time Tara told you she figured it would be easier if he cheated on her. He didn't. He just sat down with her one day and said how he felt. Two weeks later Chad and Liv went on their first date and the circumstances kept Tara and Chad as somewhat friends.
"I'm sorry for being a bother, Y/N," she must have noticed your silence.
"You're not being a bother, Tara, I just don't know what to say that I already didn't tell you before," you bit your bottom lip, knowing full well you were lying. You knew what you wanted to say. You wanted to tell her you loved her, that in her heartbreak she kept breaking your heart too. Another sob made you speak before you could think things through. "Let's go out, just the two of us," you suggest, realizing too late what you were saying. "As friends, of course, just to get your mind off of everything," you quickly backtracked, hoping the explanation was sufficient enough, hoping she couldn't hear the nervous tapping of your foot against the floor, or the crack in your voice when you said 'friends' or anything else that could give you away.
Because, as much as you loved her, as much as you wanted to be with her, you didn't want to push her into another relationship when she was vulnerable and still heartbroken. You also didn't want to be her way of getting over Chad and nothing more.
"I'd love to, Y/N," it sounded like she stopped crying. "Thanks for being my friend and always being there to cheer me up," her words, even if you just encouraged them yourself, still hurt you.
"Don't mention it, I'm here for you," you brush it off, subconsciously hoping maybe, just maybe, she'd realize how you feel on her own. You had no idea how mixed the signals you were sending her looked every now and then. In less than a minute you went from proclaiming friendly hanging out to promising to be there for her. "When do you want to meet up?"
Tara paused for a moment. "I'll call you tomorrow at ten to figure that out. Is that okay?"
You nodded and then frowned when you realized a moment later you were on the phone with her. "Of course."
And so you said your goodbyes, and you just slumped into the chair and dropped your head down to the table. A bit recklessly you tossed the phone to the bed on your side and silently expressed gratitude that it didn't hit the wall or drop to the floor. You sighed and placed your hands over your head, feeling like you were stuck in a never-ending cycle with Tara Carpenter.
Against your better judgment, you grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and began writing.
~X~
The friend date went well, better than you imagined it would and you and Tara hung out an hour longer than either of you anticipated. It was a nice change of pace and for a moment you actually convinced yourself you didn't feel anything romantic for her. For a moment, you were reminded of simpler times, when Tara really was just a friend in your eyes.
The paper waiting for you at your table broke that illusion and you grabbed your guitar, maybe you had something here after all. As you sat down to try different tunes you sent a message to the band, Mindy, Wes, and Amber, asking to meet up tomorrow for an additional practice.
~X~
The four of you met up in your garage where you kept your instruments, the guitars, and drums, anything else you needed you would just rent out for a couple of days. You were still a local band, so renting still saved you money.
"Let me see if I got everything right. You," Amber pointed at you, almost accusingly. "wrote this song about Tara and you don't want to confess how you feel?" she asked incredulously.
"Come on, it's not that obvious," you defended yourself and pointed at a line in the song. "See? Chad didn't exactly treat her bad, he just broke up with her."
"Yeah, sure, one line is going to convince everyone it isn't about Tara," Mindy added sarcastically and threw her arms up. "It's there for the dramatic effect, Y/N! Remember?"
"She got you there," Wes wasn't helping.
You picked up your guitar and began playing the tune you thought would work well with the song. "Listen, I think we got something good here," you tried to focus on the song itself. "Regardless of who it was written for," you muttered.
"You're kidding, right? A sad tune? You're making this a ballad? No way," Mindy went to her drums. "This needs more energy," judging by the tone of her voice she wasn't budging on this. Well, at least she was on board.
"We are totally adding 'Thanks for being a friend' to the lyrics," Amber teased and you just groaned and buried your face in your hands.
"Don't forget being a sucker for anything Tara does," Wes joined in, causing all three of them to laugh at you.
"You're the worst," you muttered, too embarrassed to look at them.
~X~
Over the next month and a half, you and Tara fell into a bit of a habit. The first two weeks she continued sobbing, and you'd ask her to hang out. The week after that she just complained and you still asked her to hang out. The past few weeks she rarely even mentioned Chad during your calls, but she still insisted you were friends.
Honestly, just the fact that she seemed to be moving on as weeks went by mended your own heart. Somewhere along the line, you found out you were fine with the way things were.
You walked her to her house, the backs of your hands occasionally brushing as you walked. The accidental touches became something both of you were comfortable with, as neither of you moved away from each other.
"You'll be performing tomorrow night, right?" Tara asked out of the blue.
You glanced at her and your eyes met. "Yeah. Are you going to come?" it wouldn't be the first time Tara would be in the crowd. Tara, Sam, Chad, Danny, Anika, and Liv were all supportive of your band, so they regularly came to your performances.
"You're not really asking that, are you? Of course, I'm going to come," she lightly jabbed your arm. "Besides, Mindy might have told me you guys have a new song you'll be performing for the first time in front of a crowd."
That little traitor.
With the way things were going between you and Tara, you were almost tempted to scrap the song, but the other three voted against it. "No pressure then, it's not like we haven't had a new song in almost four months now," what could you say, it was a bit of a drought period as far as creativity went.
Tara laughed and just for a moment you thought you saw something else in her eyes, something similar to the way you would so often look at her. "You'll do great," she offered a much-needed encouragement as the two of you stopped in front of her house.
"Guess this is it for tonight," you smiled at her.
"Mhm, I'm glad I was the one to ask you out tonight, as friends, of course," she took a step closer and tucked a stray strand of her hair behind her ear. And then you froze when she got on her tiptoes and kissed your cheek. "Thank you, for always being there for me," somehow, this time she omitted the friend part.
"I," you cleared your throat. "did say I'd be here for you, didn't I?" you tried to brush it off as you usually did for months now.
The intensity of Tara's gaze captured all of your attention and for a moment you even considered leaning in. You didn't though, you weren't sure she felt the same, or that she actually moved on.
"I'll see you tomorrow night, then?" she asked, lowering her gaze to your lips before quickly looking away.
You noticed it, and you wondered if Tara could hear how loud your heart was drumming in your chest. "Y-yeah," you finally stepped back from her, and the tension you were trying so hard to ignore began fading.
~X~
Tara pretty much threw herself on her bed and buried her face in her pillow. This wasn't good. This wasn't good at all. What was wrong with her? Falling in love with you so quickly and almost out of nowhere. Especially when you so explicitly insisted on hanging out as friends. Perhaps you were insisting too hard to cover your own feelings? A girl could hope, right?
She turned her playlist on, hoping to find some peace in music. As if to spite her, the first song that played was Brian Fallon's You Have Stolen My Heart and she nearly chucked her phone into a wall. Groaning she turned around and tucked herself into a blanket. It was entirely your fault. With your charming smile and clumsy mixed signals, she could never entirely get a good read on them.
~X~
You were amazing on that improvised stage, just mesmerizing to watch and listen to and Tara found herself falling even harder. She also found herself ignoring Sam's teasing smile.
"Thank you, thank you! You are too kind! We'll wrap up the night with a premiere of our new song!" Wes yelled, hyping up the crowd.
"Let's hear an applause for Heartbreak Girl!" Mindy demanded, encouraging the crowd to interact with the four of you.
Tara was pulled to her feet by Anika and they both cheered. The name of the song, however, made Tara's heart skip a beat. Or was it the way you looked at her from the stage?
"You call me up, it's like a broken record, saying that your heart hurts. That you'll never get over him getting over you, and you end up crying. And I end up lying, 'cause I'm just a sucker for anything that you do," you sang, your eyes never leaving Tara's. It felt like there was no one else in the club but the two of you. But you weren't alone and Tara felt the awkward stares directed at the back of her head.
Did you actually write a song for her?
"And when then phone call finally ends, you say "Thanks for being a friend" and I'm going in circles again and again," now she had no doubt, that the song really was about her. She stopped cheering and just stood there, taking the lyrics in.
She saw you hesitating, probably since you noticed her reaction, and she just smiled. You smiled back and continued.
"I dedicate this song to you, the one who never sees the truth, that I can take away you hurt, Heartbreak girl. Hold you tight straight through the daylight, I'm right here, when you gonna realize that I'm your cure, Heartbreak girl?" did you...? Were you saying what she thought you were saying?
She wasn't reading this wrong, was she?
"I bite my tongue, but I wanna scream out, you could be with me now. But I end up telling you what you wanna hear, but you're not ready. And it's so frustrating, he treats you so bad and I'm so good to you, it's not fair," her heart skips a beat as you continue, quoting the promise to call you tomorrow at ten and once again singing the chorus.
"I know someday it's gonna happen, and you'll finally forget the day you met him. Sometimes I'm so close to confession, I gotta get it through your head, that you belong with me instead," the look in your eyes, the eyes that told her 'This is it, I can't take it back now' it vanquished any doubt she may have had about how you felt.
She just wondered how long you felt that way about her without saying anything? Definitely before you first asked her to hang out as friends, but how long before that?
~X~
The moment you ended the song and without any idea where the sudden boldness was coming from you jumped down from the stage and went over to Tara. You took a few deep breaths as you closed the distance and offered her your hand, the guitar still in your other hand.
Yeah, you didn't quite think that through.
Tara raised an eyebrow, clearly looking at the guitar, but then shrugged and took your hand.
"Uh, what now?" you asked sheepishly.
"Isn't that something you were supposed to figure out? Before you jumped down and came over?" she gave you a cheeky, teasing smile.
"I didn't think I'd get this far," you admitted, causing Tara to laugh.
"Just go behind the stage dumbass!" Mindy yelled, with the microphone still on. "And leave the guitar there while you're at it!"
You lowered your head and winced, trying to hide the blush on your face. Tara wasn't doing much better as she quickly pulled you behind the stage to escape the teasing.
You packed the guitar as both of you took time to compose yourself and catch a breath. "I really didn't think this through, did I?" you asked.
"No," Tara sat down on the chair near you. "You really didn't," she was fiddling with the loose thread on her shirt.
"I meant it, the song. Well, at least when I wrote it a month and a half ago," you decided to just be honest with her.
Tara raised her head to look at you, you could see hopefulness and uncertainty in her gaze. "What changed?"
You approached and sat down next to her. "I don't think you are still heartbroken," you took her hand.
Tara smiled. "I'm not. I'm in love with a clumsy musician that sucks at flirting," she leaned closer to you.
"Hey, it worked," you closed the distance, capturing her lips in a soft, gentle kiss.
"Mhm, how about we go on a proper date then?" she asked when the kiss ended and you couldn't think of any better idea.

ada!!! i was thinking about your post with poems you think the lone star characters would love, and for nice ask week i was wondering if you have any others you’d add to that list? or if there’s any you really love that you think capture certain characters/relationships on the show? always love to see your recs :’) <3 —maddie/reyesstrand
Maddie!! I love this question so much so thank you for asking it!! <3
I actually planned to make a part two, especially since it's National Poetry Month, but it got a bit away from me so I'm taking this opportunity to just ramble (godspeed to whoever reads this):
Wild Geese by Mary Oliver is one of the most Carlos-coded poems you'll ever have the pleasure of reading. Or maybe it's not, but after using it as basically a thesis for tender eyes that shine, I've decided that it was written for him. Especially:
You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.
Hello?? That's Carlos Tomás Reyes in his purest form!
Oh TK, our hopeless romantic self deprecating boy. I think I'm going to give him Molly Brodak by Molly Brodak, one of my favorite poems that makes me want to burst into tears each and every time I read it. When I think of him, I specifically think of the ending, but I think the whole thing could ring true to him:
I am a good man.  The amount of fear  I am ok with   is insane.   I love many people   who don't love me.   I don't actually know   if that is true.  This is love.   It is a mass of ice  melting. I can't hold   it and I have nowhere   to put it down.
Nancy is absolutely getting Aileen Wuornos Takes A Lover Home by Olivia Gatwood because it's one of my favorites and Nancy's one of my favorites, it only makes sense! I think the ending would really get to her in a way she didn't expect, and I don't blame her, because this is the ending:
In a phone call tapped by police, Aileen called Tyria her right arm, her left arm, her breath, how all Tyria could say back was Please tell them, please say it out loud. But Aileen didn’t want to talk about it. She wanted to talk about love. So Tyria would hang up, unsuccessful, and the officer would tell her to Say it like this, tell her she’ll get off, tell her it won’t be so bad. But how, each time, for three days straight, the police listened to Aileen talk about love. About her right arm. Her left arm. Her breath. Her breath. Her breath.
Actually going to tag @sznofthesticks because I feel like you would love this poem as well, and you'll agree that Nancy would love it too.
This is cheating but this song is so poetic I'm going to call it a poem. Owen would listen to You Are Your Mother's Child by Conor Oberst and he would want to sob but then he'd get cry lines. I think the whole thing is so Owen-coded but this part especially:
Out on the diamond, and you're up to bat Chewing your Big League, adjusting your hat Taking a swing and hearing it crack Look at that apple fly Tears will dry if you give them time Life's a roller coaster, keep your arms inside Fear, that's a big emotion But you are your mother's child And she'll have you for a while But someday, you'll be grown Then you'll be on your own
You could tell me Judd wrote I Am Offering this Poem under the pseudonym Jimmy Santiago Baca and I'd believe you. I'd believe he wrote while looking at Grace when she wasn't even looking at him because it has Judd all over it like:
Keep it, treasure this as you would if you were lost, needing direction, in the wilderness life becomes when mature; and in the corner of your drawer, tucked away like a cabin or hogan in dense trees, come knocking, and I will answer, give you directions, and let you warm yourself by this fire, rest by this fire, and make you feel safe                         I love you,
That's Judd!
Tommy would adore Every Job Has A First Day by Rebecca Gayle Howell. There's a cozy feeling to it, but the final words hold such a heavy weight that I think Tommy would appreciate and carry with her:
I listened as he taught me to relax the hand just enough. They can smell, he said, the oils our pores release when we tense to catch. You have to believe it, he said. You don’t mean any harm.
Speaking of Rebecca's, Marjan is giving me You Are the Penultimate Love of My Life by Rebecca Hazelton vibes in the best way. Maybe it's the romanticizing of something that has an inevitable ending but I feel like this would be Marjan's approach to a break-up, especially this part:
The garden you plant and I plant                               is tunneled through by voles,                                                              the vowels                                                              we speak aren’t vows,                but there’s something                               holding me here, for now,
I feel like Paul, like me, would love the work of Cameron Awkward Rich, but specifically The Child Formerly Known As____ and even more specifically, the ending:
& in the end, isn’t that what we all want?                         To not feel so split?                          To carry an image of ourselves                                                 inside ourselves & know exactly what we mean             when we say I—         .                      I—                               .                              I— ?
I think Mate would love getting the chance to read Prayer for Werewolves by Stephanie Burt because I think he would see so much of himself in it. Stumbling and tumbling trying to find himself somewhere and eventually finding the place where he belongs. I also feel like he loves the supernatural and the first part of this poem would feel like a gut punch:
Someone will probably love you for who you are.    If not, you’ll still find friends, friends who, given time, or given warning,    will probably gather around you, hold your hands, and wrap you in soft coats and blankets till the violence    inside your body ends.
Finally, my beloved Grace, is things i want to ask you by Helga Flores because I feel like the poem is just a list of things running through Grace's mind when she only knew Judd by voice, but that first one in particular:
i want to ask you what god feels like.
You've reached the end of my exhaustive essay that would probably keep going if I didn't reign myself in. I hope you liked these, they're some of my favorites <3

All of this in a male dominated industry (Part 1) (George Russell)
Note: english is not my first language
I had this idea/character description in my head and I wanted to write about it (there's a part 2 as tumblr didn't let me post the whole thing as one)
Feedback is appreciated 🤍 and although I'm not taking requests per se, if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so!
Also, thank you so much for every ❤️ and reblog, it means a lot to me!
Tw: Curse words, gender inequality
Part 2 can be read here
You could never have predicted that one of your rants would bring you here.
It started from a lunch break discussion on how women in engineering needed to do a lot more work to prove that they were at least as competent as their male peers, some of your colleagues and friends at the table joining for a polite discussion on their points of view. One thing lead to another and when Grace, one of the senior tutors, thought it was odd that the lab was empty and went looking for you guys, she heard you defend your points, smiling to herself as she had once felt everything you were describing as being the only woman in that project, "Y/N, a word with me please? In my office", she made her presence known in the room. Looking at everyone on the table, you knew that this was either a good thing or a really bad thing, and you hoped for the first. Sitting in the chair opposite to hers on her desk at her office, she went straight to business, "next week we're having a conference", she started, "yeah, I know, I already paid for my place". She offered you a smile you couldn't quite place between creepy and maybe pride, "We're holding a panel about women in engineering and we wanted a student to speak about it, and for the last few weeks I've had my eye on you and I think you'd be a great speaker". That's not how you thought your Wednesday afternoon was going to go, "Me? You want me? Susie Wolff is talking in that panel too", you tried to reason with her, "and? You're afraid you'll outshine her?", she giggled, coming back to the relaxed posture you knew her to have, "You really think this is a good idea?", you asked, "Obviously it's up to you, but if I were you I wouldn't lose this opportunity", she advised. The topic was something you always felt passionate about, from when you were a little girl and wanted to build cars with LEGO blocks instead of princess castles to receiving looks when you were one of the few females in your classrooms in university, earning many "are you sure you're in the right lecture? This is Thermodynamics", and you had looked up to Susie Wolff since you watched a woman do what she did, hoping you'd grow up to be just like her. Yeah, you would be damned if you didn't take that opportunity. Seeing the glimmer in your eyes, your tutor smiled, "just send me a draft until next Tuesday with the topics you want to talk about", before escorting the both of you out to the lab.
Which brought you here, checking if your cards were in the right order, "For anyone who called me stuborn when I was little, here's what you get when you work hard enough for things", you though to yourself as you looked in the mirror, checking if your suit was neatly ironed before heading to the room where everyone who was speaking in the panel gathered before the talk.
That morning, Susie was having breakfast at the factory with the team, George, Lewis, Angela, Toto and John, one of the engineers, sat in the same table whilst the rest of the team sat on the other tables, "Toto, don't forget you said you'd come to my talk this afternoon", Susie said to her husband who nodded, "You're giving a talk?", Lewis asked, "Yeah, it's all about women in engineering and there's this really good research group there, Grace from the university is leading it, and she says that they have some interesting takes on a few things for cars. You might even want to check it out, John, she said that they've tested in simulations and it seems quite good. Actually, you lot should come and see what us women are planning to do when we take over the world", she teased, earning a cheer from Angela, everyone at the table discussing who would ride with who to the conference. Arriving and choosing to sit in one of the available seats at the front, the five of them could see the chairs clearly, waiting for them to be occupied, "look, they have a student talking on the panel too", Angela pointed out from the program they had given out. Claps were heard as who Toto recognised as Grace, an old friend of Susie, sitting in one of the chairs, announcing and welcoming each member of the panel. And when you sat down, a cornflower blue suit complimenting your tones perfectly, you caught George's attention, "that's Y/N, the student Angela was talking about", Lewis said casually to George, "you looked like you could benefit from that information", before turning his head back and clapping for Susie before she began her talk.
The way you carried yourself was mesmerising to George, you were about his age and you spoke like you weren't in front of senior tutors and people from the industry, but like you were talking to your peers, sharing your experiences, the environment you were in granting you the freedom and comfort to do so. As it was the final panel of the day, the department headteacher did a closing session and guided everyone to the coffee break, different foods spread on tables as well as drinks for everyone to enjoy.
"Y/N, that was an amazing talk, and so relaxed as well! We already know Susie was a professional on these things", Angela congratulated you as she nudged Susie's side, "but you did really well too, congratulations!", "We took all of those photos with them, but it's really you who should gave gotten them. In a few years time, everyone will regret they didn't take a picture with you today. Your talk was incredible, I really enjoyed it", Toto complimented, "Thank you so much, it means a lot coming from the both of you. Everyone in this room probably has some sort of a photo of me, maybe I should be worried that they'll have one of me sleeping on top of a textbook in the library", you giggled, drinking from the cup on your hand. John then pulled your attention as you started discussing your project and its potential impact in a Formula 1 car, different points of view and possible obstacles being ruled out as you felt like you were just discussing with your colleagues and not with someone whose hardworking career had lead them to be in one of the top teams of motorsport.
George was positively smouldering, his eyes not being able to leave your figure, noticing how you had a cute little mole just on the side of your eye, showing up when you weren't giggling and had those little creases above your cheek, or how you had a heeled shoe on but still had to look up to talk to John, every now and again adjusting the sleeves of your blazer as you pushed your hair back. "Is someone looking for their next love interest?", George heard Lewis say, "in all honesty she looks like a lovely woman, you should take your opportunity", "you think so? A woman that carries herself with that confidence doesn't fall for 'charm' ou flirty pick up lines, didn't you hear all of her achievements? All of that in this male dominated industry...", George was speechless and Lewis had known him for a while to know that this didn't happen very often, "a male dominated industry you, a male, are part of", Lewis teased, "yeah, that's not helping the situation either", George sighed. "Are you, George Russell, one of the most confident guys I have met, afraid of going up to her?", Lewis couldn't help but laugh, never did he think he would witness something like this, "If it helps in anything, I heard Toto invite her for the next race so maybe you'll get to talk to her then, oh look, there they come", he said as they both looked at Toto, Susie, John and you approaching them, "Hi, thank you so much for coming to the panel. It means a lot to everyone here, and Susie too", you smiled and George knew he was gone, just looking at you. "Hi, I'm Lewis, really good talk, I'm very interested in empowering women in motorsport, usually in the athletes side, but still, if you need anything I'd be happy to help", he said as he elbowed George, as he was rhe only one who hadn't properly introduced himself, "yeah, hello, I'm George Russell, good talk you had there, very important matter you guys talked about", and he felt everyone cringe as soon as the words left his mouth, being saved by someone calling your name, "sorry, I have to go. Again, it was very nice having you here and", you turned to Susie and Toto, "I think I'll take you on that offer", you said, "So you're joining us? Yes! Amazing, I'll email you the details", Susie said as you excused yourself. "Man, since when do you introduce yourself as 'George Russell'? I was trying so hard to not laugh at you just there", Lewis teased, "you really have to up your skills if you ever want her attention on you". Yeah, George thought so too.
When you arrived at the paddock, you couldn't help but feel all of the eyes on you, wondering who was this young woman arriving on her own with every pass possible for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team, soon spotting Angela walking Roscoe, "Y/N, dear! Hi, how are you?", she said as she stopped for you to pet the dog, "Hi, I've been good. Definitely excited to be here, and you?", you said, feeling the buzz from all the garages rush to get the cars ready, "Back to work, running as usual, bye!", she said quickly as she felt the bulldog pull her so they could continue their walk.
As you walked in the garage, you saw Toto was talking to another tall, older man as he ushered you to come to him, "Y/N, This is Daniel, he is from the FIA, Daniel, this is Y/N, the student I was telling you about", Toto said as you shook the other man's hand, "like I said it won't be a problem" Daniel said before handing Toto some papers and making his way out of the garage, "Sorry Y/N, good morning, I forgot to tell you that we needed to disclose to the FIA if we had someone on the garage and although you're not out employee because we're not paying you and you're a guest, there are a lot of bad tongues in this paddock and it's best if they hear it from us", he explained knowing how some teams would try to bring your presence up if they figured what you were studying and use it against Mercedes just to bring the team down, "Good morning, don't worry, I understand. Again, thanks for having me here, I'm really excited!", you beamed looking at all the car parts the guys were assembling and all of the screens ready to be filled with graphs with the cars' performance. As you were talking with John about some of the latest developments on the project, George and Lewis arrived in the garage, greeting everyone. George had been on your mind since the conference, sure, you knew who he was and always thought he was a handsome man, but seeing him up close just confirmed your suspicions. But truth be told, you hadn't talked much to him and he didn't show any interest, maybe he didn't enjoy the talk, maybe he didn't understand where you came from, or maybe these were all evil thoughts from your head and he didn't have any opinion on it.
"Y/N, glad you could make it!", Lewis said as he hugged you, "we could use your help around here, all these guys have been needing some help and all", he teased, knowing fully well how everyone had been doing the best they could so the car could be in the top places, "I'm here to teach these guys some things, bring them back to their school days", you joined in the banter. George was next, embracing you as he greeted, "Morning Y/N, I'm very happy you're here, we all are", he sent a charming smile once you looked at eachother, "Hopefully we'll see you around", he said before someone called them for a meeting. Staying in the garage as they had their morning meetings and then heading to lunch, you sat in a table with the engineers, all of them wanting to learn about the project you were working on, which didn't go unnoticed by George, "She's all interested in whatever maths they're going on about, how am I supposed to talk to her? I barely now my multiples", he said ironically, feeling that if he didn't start using humour about this situation things would start to really get to him, "George, man, just go talk to her when she's free, we have loads of time around here, today's only Friday", Lewis tried to reason, "you didn't even stutter the last time you spoke to her, it's all good things from now on". When everyone got ready for the first session of free practice, things weren't going as well as they hoped, the car not performing how they hoped it would, and they continued until FP2, the guys getting to the garage and giving their take on how they felt in the car, the team brainstorming about ways to fix it until the next day

what do you do - other than bashing ur head in with a bat - when you feel like your plot isn't going anywhere or that ur story has run out of gas
usually I drop the story and move on to some newer, shinier idea.
.../hj
But! some possibilities for refreshing the spark:
1. ask if your plot is still a good plot. Is there something fundamental about the plot itself that is a wall to the rest of the story? You are officially granted permission to change major points of your plot: it's 100% okay to do this.
2. if your core plot is still good, maybe you need a subplot to build around. Your heroes are on their way to the Great Dark Mountain to destroy the cursed blade, but meanwhile their allies have to distract the Evil Sorcerer so he doesn't realize what they're up to. Now you get to add in a heist plotline where they go and kidnap the Evil Sorcerer's daughter and it turns out she wants to help them defeat her horrible father. Subplot saves the day!
3. Daydream. I tend to play my favorite scenes over and over again in my mind before I write them, fine tuning and tweaking them to get JUST the right emotion I want. Then I still have to write all the context that leads up to those Good Bits, but it's the carrot driving me forward through the boring stuff.
4. Get a friend involved. Don't necessarily show them the manuscript, but ask if you can brainstorm with them. Sometimes all it takes is explaining the story out loud to someone who doesn't altar know it inside and out for you to see where it's got hangups, and/or to get an idea of where it should go next. And if nothing else, your friend might have some ideas or questions that can spark a new train of thought.
5. Pinterest is your friend. Look for character inspiration, location art, fashion, aesthetics, prompts and quotes. Treat your story like it's a fandom and you're brainrotting over it, because you ARE allowed to do that. <3
6. And finally, because it needs to be said: It's okay to give up on a story. It really, really is. Not every story is meant to be finished -- we are our own audiences first, and sometimes the story that we were writing was what we needed for that point in our lives, and then we grow and move on and we don't need it anymore. Sometimes an idea just wasn't that solid to begin with. Sometimes you'll set something aside for weeks or years and one day go, "You know what, I think I know how to fix that--" and go back to it. There is nothing wrong or shameful in not finishing a writing project. It's not a failure or a failing, and you should be gentle and gracious with yourself if you need to give yourself permission to just let a story go -- maybe for a temporary time, maybe forever. Heaven knows I've got enough unfinished stories to fill ten libraries lol.
Best of luck, anon! Put down the baseball bat, pick up a pen, and if the words still don't come: give yourself some space and grace to grow. 💜

week of october 17th, 2021
aries: mercury definitely leaves retrograde motion this week but for most aries people is the mars activity you'll feel more strongly. that involves both pluto and jupiter, neither of which are small entities astrologically speaking. some mood management and impulse control may be called for, but not at the cost of feeling and expressing your needs, nor of acquiring them. it is for your own good health.
taurus: both mercury and jupiter turning direct at more or less the same time this week can impact your daily routine and even your bodily health, so as scorpio season kicks off and your relationships and partnerships become a focus, be careful not to neglect your own incarnate form, which, as a taurean, is extremely sacred.
gemini: as a mercurial air sign your nervous system is inclined to frazzling, especially in times like this where *two* planets go direct almost simultaneously, both in air signs like yours. your mind is in overdrive to the degree you may forget you have a body. spend time outside and with some good nourishing food this week.
cancerians: to others, you likely seem very calm and collected this week. but your inner life is busy. it may even be in turmoil, depending on your circumstances and how well you've been caring for yourself. at the least you can use the richness of this experience to make the most out of your home and intimate life. it doesn't need to be quiet and still all the time. by the end of the week, the start of scorpio season provides support and relief. art and creativity, and new romantic beginnings, are auspicious at that time and throughout the scorpio season.
leo: don't fret too much over mercury. jupiter goes direct the same day in your opposite sign and most of you will feel this more strongly. overall the vibe is one of upheaval (perhaps in a good way!) in your closest and most important relationships. you may also meet new friends and lovers at this time.
virgo: mercury goes back direct this week, along with jupiter. jupiter's doing so simultaneously can really ease a lot of the traditionally feared mercury-chaos. meanwhile, your other(?) ruler ceres is still retrograde. keep roots firmly in the ground to nurture you as your mental body picks up intensely electric signals this week. if you have a good relationship with your mother, give her a call or spend some time with her! (and don't, if you don't.)
libra: the spike in air vibe might be overwhelming but rest assured, for you, it is positive. chaos or a flurry of activity is not something librans are known for coping with very well since you tend to be creatures of equilibrium, but you ARE known for grace and all of this IS good for your health, like a medical treatment you maybe aren't thrilled to undertake but which later proves to have been extremely useful. get your beauty sleep. beauty is more than *just* beauty this week.
scorpio: the last throes of libra season occur over the course of this week, with various directional changes and many aspects taking place as well. it can leave you feeling overexposed. but if it does, just keep in your mind that scorpio season kicks off by the weekend, and then it's *your* turf.
sagittarius: consider this week as something like a bachelor party, your last antics before getting serious. once scorpio season begins this weekend, you move from the carefree version of yourself to the holy one. this is a good thing; the spiritual side of sagittarius is often overlooked but it is an important aspect of your character. enjoy the week, even with all the (perhaps rapid!) changes it brings.
capricorn: i'm sure you're the very last sign of the entire zodiac who ever needs to be told to be careful or responsible with money, but nevertheless, that's what i'm telling you this week as that's the astrological focus for you at this time and it is in some tumult. avoid big purchases, contracts, leases, or needless spending as well as you can. maybe you can buy yourself a treat next week!
aquarius: all the air signs are in for some strangeness with both mercury and jupiter going direct at the same time. jupiter goes direct in your own sign, though, and while this may look like surprises and even some discomfort, it's hard to cast jupiter in any sort of bad light. something lucky will probably happen to you, even if it seems like a minor misfortune at the time.
pisces: in case you'd already forgotten, it was not terribly long ago that jupiter was briefly gracing your sign before retrograding back into aquarius. this week, he resumes direct motion and heads back in your direction, and then he will stay in your sign a while longer. the coming days set the stage for a new era of good fortune and grace, and perhaps also some excesses, for pisceans.

Conversation
DV Characters as Things Hannibal Buress Has Said
Alex: "I'm a gangsta, and gangstas don't ask questions." Yes they do ask questions! I thought that was a main point of being a gangster. "Hey, mothafucka, where's my money?" That's a question. "Do you want to die tonight?" That's a question too. "What? What?" That's two questions.
Alva: Gibberish rap is - I freestyle all the time, just hangin' out with friends. And sometimes when I'm freestyling, I'll lose my flow, you know, but I'll still wanna - I don't wanna just stop rapping because I lose my flow. So I'll just put in nonsense words till I can bring in regular words again.
Brielle: I couldn't imagine only being an actor or a writer. Because what the hell do I do when I'm not working? Mope?
Battista: I’m a dumb guy. My point of view is limited.
Bellamy: Why are you booing me? I'm right!
Beau: SIX PACK ABS! TEN PACK ABS! TWELVE PACK! What if I want an odd number of abs? What if I want a five pack to show people I'm still humble?
Bernadette: My other airport nemesis is airport security. I don't like them at all. They seem so dedicated to keeping bottled water out of the sky.
Calina: I acknowledge that I jaywalked, I apologize not for the act of jaywalking but how my jaywalking made you feel. I'll try not to jaywalk in the future while you're watching but trust that I'll do it for the rest of my life - it's the best way to go about being a pedestrian.
Castora: There's a lot of dudes in my neighborhood that have handlebar mustaches. Which is cool if you want to have a handlebar mustache but don't try to have a conversation with me like you don't have a handlebar mustache.
Catherine: He said, "Man, we are right by the Adige River. These buildings are 200-300 years old, they have rats everywhere. Even the five-star restaurants have rats!" Somehow he made me feel like the asshole for bringing up rats! I don't know what kind of jedi mind trick that was - it confused the hell out of me because I still ended up ordering food then.
Cyrus: So we talk for a little bit. She says stuff, I say stuff, she says stuff, I say stuff. You know how a conversation works.
Celeste: I get upset easily by people. I saw this guy- he was on the phone. He had the phone between the ear and shoulder like that, but he didn't have anything in his hands. Which is really upsetting! Who the hell do you think you are? This action for people that are multitasking. Where's your other task? You're not doing anything else.
Daphne: He'd be the worst real estate agent ever. "Right here we have a 34 bedroom house. Let me show you around the property. Great features to this place, some of the rooms have extra, smaller rooms in them."
Delilah: I was in Scotland for all of August and it was the darkest time of my life. Mostly 'cause they call cookies biscuits. I don't like that at all. It was an incredible culture shock for me, tough to adjust but I tried for a few weeks. Pass me the chocolate chip BISCUITS. Let's have biscuits and milk, everybody. I love Oreo biscuits. But, in the fourth week, I couldn't handle it no more. THOSE ARE COOKIES THOSE AREN'T BISCUITS. Those are cookies. Cookies are cookies and biscuits are biscuits. If you call cookies biscuits, what do you call biscuits 'cause I'm not saying scones.
Everett: I did not move to Verona with a plan. The first time I moved to Verona, I just popped up. My sister was living here in Verona. I just popped up. She had her baby and a husband, and I just popped up. "Hey, what's up? I got $200 and dreams. Let's do this."
Genevieve: I can't just look at a status and move along. I see a status got 36 'likes' — can't accept it got 36 'likes' and move along. I got to click on it and start reading the names of the people that liked it. "Oh, yeah. Jim would 'like' some shit like that."
Grace: Yo ma, money over everything.
Halcyon: Awe man, I gotta get a team. I don't have a team, I just have friends. I call up my friend, "Hey man, I know you're my friend but I need you on my team right now."
Hazel: You have a regular-sized tub and a miniature tub, the sink.
Henry: You never know what could happen when you go into a store - somebody might pull a Tonya Harding on you and break your knee cap. And now you got your knees all fucked up just ‘cause you wanted to get that vinyl.
Hugo: It sounds like God owed someone some money and they couldn’t get to him, so they murked his son. That’s what I really think happened. Jesus got stabbed up in an alley… but it’s easier to sell crucifixes. You can’t sell a pendant of someone getting shanked up in the alley. It’s a marketing scheme.
Ivan: Come to your place at 5:00 in the morning, eat your food, drink your drinks, leave at 6:30 without fucking like it’s cool. That’s a passive burglary.
Isabelle: Two separate charges $400 at Barnes and Noble. Who balls out of control at Barnes and Noble?
Juliana: Believe in yourself like one of those weird-ass clothing stores that only have six shirts in them. So many questions. How much do these shirts cost? How long have y'all been here? Why is there a DJ?
Katarina: Kill people, burn shit, fuck school, I hate spam emails! That's annoying! You think you have an email from a friend but it's spam.
Lucien: I believe in my ability to not spill food in my pants 'cause I'm a goddamn adult. And I've mastered the art of getting food from my plate to my mouth without messing up my jeans. You need to believe in yourself, too and get your life together, that's for babies. Have some confidence in your eating abilities and hand/eye coordination.
Lucrezia: I'VE ALREADY SEEN LIMITLESS.
Lillian: I'm not a club person, I'm more of a bar/lounge type of person. But, I'll go anywhere if you give me a free bottle of alcohol.
Mikael: I have weird aspirations. Like, I really want to kick a pigeon.
Matthias: It's a weird emotion when you're flattered and cynical at the same time. "Oh, that's nice that you would say that, but what the fuck are you up to?"
Marcelo: I just wear black and gray all the time. If you Google Image me, you'll just see a bunch of black and gray. It's simple. If I like a shirt, I'll buy six or eight of them, wear them back-to-back, and just wait for somebody to say something. "That's the same shirt you wore yesterday." "Yeah, but this one is fresh."
Maeve: When people go through something rough in life, they say, "I'm taking it one day at a time." Yes, so is everybody. Because that's how time works.
Nikolai: But this time, it was me and this old lady we were jaywalking together. We weren't together like that. But if we were, so what? Mind your business.
Odessa: It was a phone interview and sometimes when I do phone interviews and the journalist is boring, I just start saying crazy stuff to make it fun for me.
Olivio: There have been times I’ve been out, and my phone battery is at nine percent, and I was like, "Time to go home."
Orion: Don’t thank the lord. I gave you that compliment, thank me.
Priam: I lost my debit card recently, had five charges on it before I caught it. First charge, $30 Chuckee Cheese. Who goes to Chuckee Cheese as soon as they find a debit card? Are you serious?
Paola: I applied for a job at Starbucks. One of the questions was, 'Why do you want to work at Starbucks?' Uh, because my life is in shambles.
Pandora: I don't even know how to use a semicolon to this day, I use a comma every time. And you know what? If I email somebody and they get upset about me using a comma instead of a semicolon, that's not a person I want to work with anyway. And that's how you weed people out of your life.
Ramona: I went into this restaurant in Verona called The Two Gentlemen. Went into the bathroom at The Two Gentlemen, huuuuge rat in the bathroom at The Two Gentlemen and the rat looked at me like "the fuck you doing here?" That was his vibe, very negative vibe.
Rafaella: Sometimes I get drunk and I get into arguments with taxi drivers. And I get out the cab and I slam the door. That's not the way to win an argument with a taxi driver. The way to win is you get out of the cab and you leave the door open.
Regina: And that was the first time in my life, without any sarcasm, I could say, "What? You want a cookie or something?" Because any other time you say that, you being mean, but I meant it from my heart. "How many cookies you want, man? You want seven cookies? That's way too many cookies. You're being ridiculous right now. You can take, like, three or four cookies and get out of my face. Otherwise, you're taking advantage of my generosity."
Ronan: Wack.
Roman: In my hometown of Verona, I'm kind of a medium deal.
Theodora: We got interns at the job. You can just tell them to do stuff. You gotta be nice, though. I had this cat fax something. I handed him a couple of pages, and I handed him another page. I said, "Hey, man, fax something for yourself, too."
Tomas: Rap videos confuse me cause they have to be continued at the end but the never make a sequel. Where’s the second video? There’s so much suspense!
Trinity: I was at the airport and there was this kid, four or five years old walking with his mommy, fixed his fingers in a fake gun, and then took a shot at me. And I'm looking at the wall to see if there's something on the wall he could've been shooting at 'cause I'm in denial. I look back at him, he looks me in the eyes and takes too more shots. Now I'm hit three times, that's an act of aggression. I need to defend myself.
Valentina: Morpheus, Dorpheus, Orpheus, go eat some walruses. Orifices, porridges. Morpheus, Morpheus. Going to the Buffet and Walruses. Confidence, corpseses. Worcestershire sauce. Go into your orifices. Red pill, blue pill. Morpheus, walruses. Seashells by the seashorpheus. MORPHEUS DRINKING A FORTY IN THE DEATH BASKET.
Vivianne: "We'll keep you in our thoughts" With the other bullshit in your heads? No, keep me out of your thoughts, because I hear some of the stuff you talk about and if that's close to what you're thinking about, I don't want to be around that, so keep me and my family out of your thoughts, unless you're thinking of making me a sandwich.
