finally re-reading stormbringer, first post of a long list (30 photos limit go die) we stan the flags

I read stormbringer this summer, and it was something (it destroyed me and made Chuuya became my favourite character of all bsd- more than anyone else (like sigma, he's my fav in the decay of angels arc), chuuya solos everyone and you know it shut up)

so, like I did with fifteen I feel the urge to share everything cause yeah we all need to suffer more

1. We Stan The Flags

This always makes me laugh, cause Chuuya's like "yeah, it's probably the shadiest and most dangerous role I could have as a non-executive, what's so important ab it? It's cool guys I'm not better than you all" (imposter syndrome sir)

I love Pianoman. I just- I love the Flags, and I will always fantasize ab a world where they're still alive. and them bullying chuuya is my favourite trope alr.

and i just know that in a no powers au chuuya would have been the kind of teenager to befriends people older than him like ten years age gap, cause people his age just weren't for him (in an healthy way guys)

try to not think ab chuuya's inability to accept gifts and love, and just some of the most powerful men in the mafia being excited ab a silly guy (silly chuuya who's stronger than half of them(gotta write chuuya and iceman first meeting))

the... the fruitiness of this sentence is menacing so I'm gonna- just yk

the au where Chuuya takes Lippman place ad the mafia's contact with the light is so beautiful and sad. and that fic where he takes chuuya on set I'm crying stop it

canon chuuya is so mean. Like not mean, just harsh. a lot of people only sees him as someone who gets mad at Dazai and is a peace of cake with everyone else- like no? he send to hell every person he talks to and goes on with "wanna know the power of gravity" every two seconds. he's just chuuya, gotta accept him as our little mass murder with anger issues that needs to be controlled cause the Mafia boss is afraid he's gonna die if he doesn't <333

and this is so beautiful in a way. he always talks ab killing dazai and dazai doesn't help with that, only giving him more reasons to do so, and same with the flag. anger issues maybe, but is he really angry with dazai and the others? we see him really mad, and it is not a pretty thing to watch- and they all know what mad chuuya really looks like and just know when he's yes angry but not really. everyone is ready to fight, and are relieved when things dont escalate (they love chuuya so much stop please)

they comfort him in a way that is heartwarming. they don't offer him useless words or things like "don't worry you have a past and you're human", they don't beat around the bush. Pianoman's like "hey, we know you don't know if you're human, and I'm gonna be super harsh ab it cause we're in the mafia and all of that but listen kid, here we are ab to solve your existential crisis"

even Iceman, the cold blooded hitman who almost killed chuuya a couple of times and was ab to try it five minutes before this, is fucking smiling. they're so happy to help him it hurts (just know iceman called him kid at least some times. he's the real big brother and I just know it)

yes, this is the first time chuuya has real friends- not kids he has to look after and protect without receiving gratitude but just a "it's the least you can do" attitude, not whatever-the-fuck-is-going-on with dazai, just friends. they spend time sìtogether, they give eachother gifts. they're kind with eachother in the ways the know how

an chuuya doesn't know what to do, cause he has never had this type of relationship with anyone, the "give-receive" mechanism that every relationship should have. he doesn't know what to do, and I need to hug him

and then the gag we needed and something I need to draw (Pianoman definitely is the tired mom. Iceman is the dad cause yeah who other. Chuuya and Albatross the sons, Doc the gay emo cousin (what do you mean you wish to be carried by Adam sir) and Lippman the sassy aunt. just see it)

he kind of is sir (he's fucking sixteen just kill me)

something I love ab him is the fact that he's emotionally constipated but like one of the less serious one. he knows that he can be easy to read since he's very open ab his emotions (even if they understand he could just kill everyone, so), but can be serious in a way a teenager shouldn't be able to. he chooses to be so open with dazai, the flags and the people he cares about. the trust king fr

they all know he's gonna come back (and that he's crying) cause he probably wanted them to, or he would have reacted worse to getting understood so easily

and this is the trope asagiri give us so many times and the best one in the history of tropes. bad scary guys having fun with some other bad scary guys and enjoying their time together like normal people.

You know I really like Sigma and stuff. I have been loving this character from like the day he was added in Overwatch. I have a tattoo dedicated to him. There are many things about him that I adore and love. I feel like I relate to him on some personal level (I won't elaborate). He is beautiful, like really and honestly my type. And I love that he has such a big community of fans and I think he deserves it. But.

Y'all are sleeping on Akande. And I grew to love him, maybe even more than Sig, who knows? Let's just forget about the fact that he's a villain. Moira, for example, is sometimes more violent than him (imo), but she has a big fanbase too. Like a lot of villains have bigger fanbases. But here on Tumblr I know like only 3 Doomfist's stans including me? And I blame Blizzard for it.

Because they kinda included him in the game with that cool anime styled origin video but that was actually it. And it is a problem with a lot of characters. But Akande is kinda one of those characters that doesn't get any love from Devs lore-wise. They made him into a great Villain in retrospect just for what. I feel like they are wasting his potential.

And it goes with the design too. The first Overwatch design of him honestly is so not really good imo? It doesn't represent his lore like AT ALL. The guy still looks like he just got from prison with his torn shirt around his waist and it's kinda too minimalistic? Lore-accurate Doomfist is wealthy, charismatic and strong. Yes, he literally says that he doesn't care about the aesthetics, but Overwatch 2 design, on the other hand, is majestic. The amount of little details they added on him is just the chef's kiss. I love the aesthetics and I love the fact that they included more of his ethnic stuff in his costume, though, still making him look like a brawler he is.

His gameplay and current state? He is a pretty hard character to learn I'm not gonna lie. I feel like he is that type of character that requires a lot of work to actually make significance but it is worth it in the end. Though, as some dude on Doomfist mains Reddit said: "the moment the enemy takes Orisa it isn't fun for me anymore". He wasn't that hard countered by her in the first game because he actually had more damage and "Uppercut".

I don't even want to talk about changes from DPS to tank or how fucking ridiculous the amount of the bugs in his character is still in the game and Devs absolutely don't care about it.

Also hands down to the king Sahr Ngaujah because his voice actually gave a life to the character and charm he needed.

I just think he's a great character who deserves a bigger audience of followers and of course, I'll try to make some content myself and stuff but I kinda want Blizzard to realise they kinda are wasting him.

002 I Give me a character & I will tell you

• How I feel about this character

I like her, but for some reason I do not think all that often about her? She is just one of those characters who is so crucial for the story itself and for the lore that I kinda... stop noticing them and take them for granted? It is hard to explain. I feel like she could certainly use way more exploration with her backstory and depths of her personality and relationships - that includes me too! Basically I think I am not being fair on her myself because she is just as important as Maria, Adeline, Valtr, Fauxsefka, Gascoigne... you know, THE core cast.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Hmmm... I don't find Eileen very shippable, since her occupation suggests a great dose of emotional isolation. For all she knows, anyone she loves could go blood-drunk and she'd have to hunt them! I entertained the idea of the post-game scenario where she and Henriett raise the daughters of Gascoigne and Viola together now, but even in that case it'd probably work better as grandma + aunt taking care of them as a ship. I do think she used to see some women back in her youth, when she was just a student/doctor, even before the plague took her own place. Crack ship idea though - Eileen x Arianna! Thumbs up, thumbs down?

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

Not going to call ANY NAMES *cough coooooough*, but I think the mother-son reminiscent bond between her and the Crow of Cainhurst is the top tier of the headcanons! I remember ancient times when I thought that Eileen and Crow were not even that familiar, and instead he simply mimicked appearance of Hunter of Hunters to not get questioned when he kills a hunter (important for his goals), but I've changed my mind since then! Doomed mother-son bond for life!!

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Not really an opinion, but rather a pet-peeve. We know from the lore that there WERE other Hunters of Hunters before Eileen, and only one was appointed at the given time. Presumably, Crow of Cainhurst is an apprentice and that's it!

But at times I see takes that have Eileen as the one and ONLY Hunter of Hunters that ever was, who appeared long ago and was the one since Old Hunters prime...? Example off the top of my head - that one manga centering around Maria (that I never properly read...). You know, with gingerhead white-garb Adeline (just like miiiiiine!!), super sigma male asshole Laurence, Willem recognizing as the pope of the Healing Church before he yeeted... all that. Of course I am not saying to go and write several OCs, but... Eileen was not the only one, clearly... come onnnnn.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I want to see where Eileen's shack is at, so we know in what house to visualize her in the after-game events in which she totally doesn't die but simply retires because of health issues... She DEFINITELY just retires and simply stops fighting, right...? That's canon, you know? Of course you know that haha.,..

my OTP:

Again, I personally do not really have one that is romantic... I remember I used to be a big Eileen x Valtr stan, but that one indeed became platonic since then, especially since I shifted towards headcanoning her as a lesbian. However, as far as fan-stuff goes in general, I do support Eileen x Djura shippers! Very cool and based ship, definitely deserves its popularity! ...if 'popular content' and 'Eileen' are even compatible things fdanhfhds HELPPPP

Like I mentioned in some other post, I think she was a student, learning to be a doctor! ...and then just a doctor. She wanted to stay in the university as a teacher, but could not stand aside when her place was plagued, and became a doctor! I do think her beak mask is the only thing remaining from the clothes in which she originally appeared in Yharnam!

I feel like Fyodor is gay (stan fyolai for clear skin) however may be homophobic and not understand Nikolai's feelings for him and vice versa. I believe this because he is shown to be quite religious in multiple ways also man is Russian and lets just say majority of people born in Eastern Europe and Asia are homophobic in one way or another (I know from experience being from Eastern Europe) so it would make sense a literal terrorist gang member most likely religious to be at least a bit homophobic

I thought Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter was kinda hot. :D I also had a crush on Christopher Walken in Batman Returns, where his character is a rich, pompous, misogynistic piece of shit. Also... I think Stranger Things is largely toxic right now because the fanbase is still pretty young. The majority of Batman fans - at least the ones I know besides myself - are generally older, long-time fans. The generation that actually understands the complexity of fictional villains and treats them as such, too. Fictional, not real. And that's how it should be.

So I was making some snarky posts a while ago that I deleted, but here’s the thing. The only parts of Stormblood I can say I’ve unironically enjoyed are the job quests I’ve done and the Omega Raid story.

DRK: Okay, the DRK is super lauded, especially 30-50, but I love 50-60′s tale and how it doesn’t end happily. I also adore 60-70. Some say it’s a retread of previous tales, but honestly, it does something different and shows an interesting view of forgiveness and that there is, to some extent, two sides of a story. I know I’d love for Myste to make a simulacrum of my late Grandfather because my feelings towards the man are complicated, and being able to tell something resembling him, even if it’s just my own cognition, how he was a terrible person and I want to understand why he did it would be great. Even if it doesn’t tell me anything I don’t know, just saying all that would probably help my mourning process.

DRG: I’ve been lukewarm on most of the 30-60 DRG quest, but I just adore Orn Khai. I love his story and his detachment from Faunheim, I love how he’s a dork, and I love the coda in the 70 quest with Estinien. One who’s quite different even from his few interludes in Stormblood. This is an Estinien after Shinryu, who is at peace and knows he can be. Who seeks amends for what being a Dragoon once meant, but knows real stakes with the problem at hand. I want more of both of Orn Khai and post-Nidhogg Estinien.

BRD: I will always fucking stan the BRD quests. I’m told most of the HW quests are centered around revenge, but bard’s 50-60 is something different. It’s dark, yes, but Sanson and Guydelot are amazing characters who are totally married who play off each other well, are a bit tropey, but still feel real to me. The quest for the song Sanson wants is amazing, and it’s one of the best “The real treasure is the friends we made along the way” morals ever. And the 60-70 quest is one about revenge, but takes the opposite stance. It’s not one where you sympathize with the revenge-seeker. Ever. Nourval is a piece of shit who hates Ala Mhiggans with only the flimsiest of reasons. He’s a giant racist (a problem Gridania needs to address because it does have it’s own sense of xenophobia, but Nourval goes above and beyond), and what’s more, even if his reasons were valid, it’s not the time to let that come into play. Gyr Abania needs the help of the alliance, whether they like it or not, and forcing 25% of the forces, and the only neighbor to the lands, to withdraw support over this is dangerous. The final solution, which boils down to “Do not share this now, because we’re at a time where this is inappropriate, but it should not be kept secret forever” is one I find perfectly acceptable. A bit bittersweet, but context is king here. Were it something done 25+ years later, or if the guy’s son hadn’t kept mum, I would have said “No, share now.”

AST: Honestly, I like the 30-60 plot more, but the 60-70 was a lot of fun. The new guy is hilarious, Leveva has some prejudices showing regarding Geomancy early on (Though she’s gone for most of the plot so it doesn’t get touched on and she tries again at the end), Janne’s appearance at the end is hilarious, and the two duties are great fun. I loved running around Kugane testing my understanding of the city’s geography since I suck at navigating.

I’m probably going to not enjoy PLD though, but I didn’t pay attention to it at all and only did it so I could make a proper Haurchefant Retainer.

Omega Raids: No, seriously, I love it, but ‘Sormr is my second favorite NPC. He has an amazing dry sense of humor, a truly, literal alien point of view and sense of morality, and I love how Sormr ends up semi-sacrificing himself for you at the end of Sigma. If the leaks I’ve heard about him being Alpha 2.0′s subject is true, I’m gonna be crying during 4.4 for reasons other than Z=H. That’s gonna be something powerful, and I trust it’ll be written well. I also adore Omega’s similar cold amorality. I love how the plot hook for why you need to return when normally you wouldn’t is he’s like “Oh, wait, you care about people, and they’re weaker than you, and I’m functionally god, so I’ll send monsters after other people if you don’t do as I command” Not to mention I love Nero. He’s someone I hate, but he’s so deliciously ham and well-written I love him as a character.
