Cut the man some slack, he hasn't dated in about 3,000-5,000 years (depending on the dub or sub)

He doesn't particularly like PDA, and doesn't see a need to announce your relationship to his friends. He thinks they should "just know."

Obviously they don't, so Tea still hits on him and you get angry about it. Atem never notices when Tea hits on him and only knows about it when you point it out

He's quick to tell his friends about your relationship then. Joey teasingly asks him to prove it, and he wastes no time kissing you on the lips despite not liking PDA

It takes him a couple months to start getting comfortable with the relationship, and slowly gets more comfortable with PDA

He'll only go so far as hand holding and putting his arm around you, but it is progress

Behind closed doors though, I'd like to think he's a little clingy. If you need to go in another room for something he won't follow, he'll just wait for you. But he'll always want to cuddle or be touching you in some way

He prefers kisses on the cheek instead of the lips

He'd take you on such cute dates. He'd get the ideas either from Yugi, Bakura or social media (Joey and Tristian aren't exactly cute, and he wouldn't ask Tea about this)

He'd take you on picnic dates, take you to local events, he'll win you prizes at Kaiba Corp and go on any rides you want to go on and end the day with a kiss on the ferris wheel.

When you cuddle, he likes being the big spoon. He'll rub your back, scratch your back, whatever you want

He loves watching Tik Tok or Instagram reels or Youtube with you on your phone while you spoon. He'll periodically give you cheek kisses

I feel like Atem would be the first one to say "I love you" and he says it after every goodbye, every goodnight, every good morning, and every hello

If you two are away from each other, he always starts the conversation with a "how are you? how was your day?" text

His first priority is you. He loves you and he wants to make sure you're okay

He's also pretty chill with anything. If you're sick and look terrible, he's still going to want to be intimate. When you ask why, he'll kiss your cheek and give you a poetic sentence about loving you at your worst. Makes you tear up

Atem is also really good at listening to you and comforting you when something is wrong. He wishes he could duel all your problems away :(

tbh I keep seeing the takes of ppl (and ballister) about ambrosius thinking he would kill the queen but not play freestyle jazz - and it totally makes sense and all with all the context -

BUT. I just wanna point out.

the look of indecision and shock/surprise on his face every time he sees bal after the incident, and even during the incident? the split second where he considers the other knights about to turn on him for knowing his partner best and steps up to lead the search saying 'before anyone gets hurt'? like say all you will (and I agree), but that scene to me reads exactly like someone trying to get to their lover first and protect them and prove their innocence before others can convict them sans trial (looking at you wangxian) OR, also, the realisation that you have to play it safe because the community has found out your lover is queer and the pitchforks are high, but you've always been the golden child / carrying a legacy, and you make the instinctive decision to stay safe for a multitude of reasons (after all, you can't shelter them by losing your rep too, can you? or so you think. same thing in the 'prom' teen-movie btw which is a whole thing to unpack on another day but this same theme is there!).

the first time he looks like he's against bal is after the director proclaims him leader of the search - and compared to his expressions all before then, it feels so much like a mask (mask-esque. not fake, just.. if you get what I mean? I don't really have the words this is just a brain vomit anyway, insert long discussion abt masks and conflicting emotions here ig) and it cracks immediately when he sees him breaking out of jail with nimona in the hallway. and honestly I'm down to give him a little slack after that because, comedically, he totally walked in RIGHT after ballister talked about murdering everyone, and then our boi didn't even manage to blurt out that he was innocent they just got caught up angstily staring at each other. which. :)

even in all the scenes that come after - yeah, definitely can see the totally-thought-he-was-the-killer-ambrosius-why-are-you-like-this angle. and i agree. bad moves all around, dude. but! my man lowering his crossbow in the market? I don't know about you but that doesn't look like a someone who's only holding back because he loves the target. that's a guy that looks unsure about the process the whole way through the scene. (bit of a stretch I know) and the thing that ties it together is the conversation with the director in the car. when he talks about feeling unsure of his legacy? the moment with the crowd and autograph? feeling like a traitor to his personal beliefs and the institution he was raised for? the hope, trying to discreetly make it to the car? it's all there, man. he's isolated from the only person that thinks differently, still outwardly pretending he's 100% with the institute's actions and lashing out with the things that still make sense and overlap with both mindsets.

yeah, ambrosius definitely messed up (ex. 1: arm-chopping as a love language of brainwashing omg pure gold) but? every step makes sense. i'd cut anyone a bit of slack for the doubt and wanting to reconcile their life when everything's turned on its head, especially after hearing bf in question saying he wants to murder everyone ^v^

some thoughts on that under the cut (and close ups of the coloured Heizous)

i talked previously about this a bit, so there are going to be things i've said previously and a couple of new thoughts. but mostly just rambling

the design choices were made as if Heizou was an in-game character who frequently fights but still needs to look presentable

i’m still on the hakama pants for Heizou, and if not that, he’d probably ask to make the trousers loose (like slacks maybe), with all the splits Heizou can do they’d tear otherwise, unless the material is more flexible than how it looks on Ayato. but quite frankly they look just like normal ones, if a bit more expensive

i am, in fact, speaking from personal experience, dress trousers are very likely to tear if you try kicking something high above your waist level - especially if it's more than once, and i don’t imagine Heizou is very careful about this, and i think he’s used to more freedom in his leg work, or any body part actually, he has a lot of skin showing

as for everything else: it's pending, really.

the vision could be both on his right hip - just like Ayato, or his left one - sort of like it used to be, and mirroring Ayato and also kind of completing the Kamisato's vision placements: Ayato and Thoma on the right hip, Ayaka on her back and Heizou on his left. i also could be reading too much into things (or i'm actually not reading into this enough and it's very important for the characters where they place their visions: like how important their vision is to them, or there's symbolism of the placement, or it's just pure aesthetics)

i had half a mind to put Heizou in a pair of dancing shoes. they look so funky - i have no idea if they are comfortable or not and they look like they could slip off at any moment. for the record i am not planning on putting him in a pair of funky dancing shoes (for now)

tbh i didn't think too much about his footwear previously, i just thought to put him in some dress shoes like Ayato, even if those are not particularly comfortable - but it would be more painful if he delivers some sick kicks: physics of pressure, with the area being smaller and the force staying the same and all that

he could also go with geta (or sandals?) like Ayaka - which would also make sense. Ayato's job requires him to sit a lot so naturally he doesn't walk too much for the shoes to cause him any trouble, but if we're going with the assumption that Heizou tends to work best on foot (old habits die hard, you see), then he'd be miserable if he wore the shoes all the time. counterpoint, however, is that i don't want to draw toes, and i am a coward

also the coloured designs are what i'd consider his formal outfit: as far as my research goes, yukatas (which Heizou usually wears in the au from what i can tell) tend to be worn for less formal events, and it's at the very least not customary to wear yukatas under hakama pants, so..

also also it has been a while since i’ve properly worked with colour so i am extremely unsure how I want this to look, that is why there are two sets of colours of each design. and i don't even think i'm satisfied with that? and obviously the outfit can be a combination of the two styles, i just threw things at the wall to see what sticks

the first version is based on the one i've made previously, with some minor changes, like the Anemo inspired print on the pants and on the inside of the cloak (i don't know if it is noticable, there are sakura petals as well), and the arm guards (also yes, the red does not look very good on him, i just wanted to add something different, spice things up a little). and yes, i still imagine Heizou magically discarding the cloak when he attacks

(edit) additionally, Heizou with more blue in his palette:

the second one is very heavily leaning on Ayato's design, with less layers, loose trousers and a western shirt underneath. this one was done mostly to test out the coat and the trousers

and lastly: i'm not a historian or a fashion designer or a historian fashion expert. i have no idea what i'm doing other than looking at all the pictures available on the internet and drawing inspiration from that

This man is constantly toking up. (Achy joints, cut him some slack.) But depending on strain, it makes falling asleep just about anywhere a possibility if conditions are right. I mean, Hell, first episode he’s in - there he is, passed out in the living room chair. No fucks given. So yes, no agenda, indica strain, peaceful surroundings… unless he’s in a really awkward setting (which probably means he’s not smoking the knock your ass out stuff, tbh), there’s a high probability he’s out with little trouble. And not just out; he’s out out. Words ain’t doing it. Be prepared to shake his ass awake if you need him on your time. Otherwise, he’ll wake up when he wakes up. Or when Randy gets in his head and makes it intolerable. We hope for the first.

♥ - family headcanon

With a phrase like “didn’t see the point in the little fuckers” when asked about kids, I think it’s safe to assume he’s never had a strong family pull in his life. I would make the assumption that this comes from observation. I don’t think he had a terribly bad family/childhood, but from a young age, I think it’s likely he could see where his parents had a strain put on them. Possibly distant, never had a great connection. Was it from kids? Maybe. Other couples crumble with this weight. What does he know. But, with his observations, he came to the conclusion, him and his wife, that was enough. Society is fucked, why bring anybody else into this mess? Why risk something that he loved. That they loved. Combined with the fact that Tripps didn’t really cause him an extreme sense of loss, don’t think he had any actual family left prior to the outbreak. There was nothing left to take, and there hasn’t been for quite some time. Any familial feelings are all of an unexpectedly found nature from this point on.

Ah, the blank page headcanon…. Shit, where do I go…

I imagine that his classes would have the appearance of being scattered, but with it truly being illusionary. His students would no doubt catch on that he’s a talker, with most classes being discussion heavy, and you gotta have that one asshole that’s looking to get out of having to do actual work for the day. Pair that with the fact that its widely known he’s not always on great terms with his colleagues, and that he won’t pull punches. I think he’s gotten a fair share of students trying to cause drama in his class. I also think he’s smart enough to be able to play along until it could be redirected into a lesson. Trick them at their own game. They think they’re wasting time, but dammit, they’re getting something out of it, whether they realize it or not.

Okay, so same anon from the character relationships in FW again. I’m just gonna go ahead and start signing off from now on because I’m gonna be rambling a lot more (if you’re okay with that) because something about your fics just activates my writer brain where I wanna point out all the little details and the amazing writing because you definitely deserve the praise. And chapter 18 doesn’t help. That being said, ramble incoming:

I’m getting back to the sbi family dynamic that has me so intrigued. I’d need to reread the entire fic if I want to do an entire analysis and I probably will once it’s finished. Anyway, things I have already picked up on. I already mentioned Wilbur’s great dual middle/youngest child energy(which makes him my favourite character by far) but an effect of that is that they still treat him as of he were the youngest. (I’m not sure what the age gap, but the small it is, the worse it gets) It’s so sad how you can tell he’s being used to his opinions being ignored by how resigned he is.

I’m still not entirely sure if Wilbur and Tommy are just more perceptive than average or if everyone else is blinded by rage and revenge plots. Probably the latter given how they don’t seem to understand Wilbur at all. The fact that Tommy had his memory back also seemed to take Phil and Techno by complete surprise (based on what little reaction Tommy allows them to have). Tommy was getting more and more lacks in hiding it and his behaviour changed enough for Wilbur to figure it out, but they probably spend more time together so I’ll cut Phil and Techno some slack.

Also, Techno is extra protective because he’s the only one who can come back thus it’s less bad if he gets hurt is just *chef’s kiss* I had not made that connection before but his line about killing Hannah suddenly made that click. And that’s definitely triggered by Wilbur having already died and then Tommy going missing. You have this wonderful way of making clear how much they care while also highlighting they are expressing it in all the wrong ways. And the protectiveness is hindering them because they need to stop seeing their youngest people who need their protection before they can value their opinions and beliefs.

I’m gonna stop here for now, cuz this has gotten very long (oops), but I will be back.

and tbh yeah the age gap between Wilbur and Techno isn't that huge. in wf I don't have a specific age set for the family, but I'd imagine Wilbur is probably 23-24ish while Techno is 26 at most. but Techno is very protective especially given his ability, and not to mention Wilbur dying at a young age has led to Phil and Techno babying him far more than they would have had that not happened. and again, you're dead on about Techno being super protective because of his ability. He can come back from the dead so of course he's the shield. He's gotta protect his younger brothers, especially since he's already watched one of them die and now the other lost his memories and came back a very different person

also Phil and Techno both had their suspicions about Tommy lying about his memory, but Phil was far more suspicious than Techno was. As Tommy mentioned a few chapters ago, he and Techno spent a lot of time together pre-amnesia! They were very very alike, and that was even reflected in the Asphodel mask looking similar to Acheron's. So Techno was very much under the impression that if Tommy's memories had come back, he wouldn't be so opposed to the Syndicate like he was. It just didn't make sense to him that Tommy could remember and suddenly not approve of what they were doing.

When Phil heard Tommy call him dad he definitely got very oh about the whole thing, but he didn't get much time to process or think about that before Tommy just came right out and said it, hence why he was still pretty surprised by the reveal

the Syndicate's general attitude towards revenge and anger is very much based off the ignorance and hypocrisy of the Syndicate in dsmp canon lol. Phil and Techno both don't like to admit when they're wrong, and this is true in both dsmp canon and in world forgetting which creates a lot of fun conflict :)

tbh... people would rather discuss his name than have to have more painful discussions about the role they and their faves have played in the racism he faced, lbr. a LOT of 1d fans have done racist things over the years. some of them blatantly openly racist (the ones holding terrorist signs, throwing things at him, etc) but a lot more have been passively racist (pushing ugly narratives, having double standards, believing unsourced tabloid nonsense about him that they'd instantly question about the others, the whole "he's so mysterious~ and brooding~" shit, etc).

we've ALL done it at some point, as much as it hurts to admit. i'm a woc and zayn has always been my #1, but even i'm guilty of holding him to different standards than the whites. it's a societal thing. we've all been raised in a racist world and we've all internalised certain messages, even those of us who are literally asian sjfhsjf.

it's like women claiming they shave their legs because they "want to". we all know that's nonsense and we do it because if we go outside hairy we'll be ridiculed and considered lazy and disgusting, but none of us like to admit we've crumbled to societal misogyny. "i just like having smooth legs!" we say, even thought we are all aware that when we're home alone and won't be seen, we never shave or do our makeup or anything. racism works the same - it infiltrates every aspect of life and all our interactions and none of us have escaped its web of deceit.

i mean, hell, how many of us have gone "omg i'd love a 1d reunion" or "i wish zouis would talk again" or whatever? i would NEVER talk to any of my white ex-colleagues who had stayed silent while i was being racially abused en masse, and yet, despite that fact, i still expect zayn to put himself through it just because i like louis. even if the individual 1d boys weren't the issue (zayn has the bus1 tattoo for a reason - clearly louis was his friend and not just a colleague), having to put himself back into 1d territory would undoubtedly stir up a lot of traumatic memories of things and people who WERE racist.

and we all know that! we're not stupid! we are 100% aware of the trauma he faced in that band, both from the fandom and the management and the media. and yet we still expect him to package it all up into a neat little box, tie a bow around it, and hand it to us like a gift. even those of us who are poc, who have similar trauma, who KNOW who awful that would be to go through. it's so insidious! we're all guilty!

and i think a lot of fans are stuck in a very childish mindset where you are either a good person or you are a big scary racist. (to be cringey and quote sirius black: "the world isn't divided into good people and death eaters, harry"). but that isn't how it works. no one is perfect and pure. no one has escaped the societal pressure of racism. it isn't a moral failing to put your hands up and go "damn, i'm part of the problem, i'll try and do better in future". like, that's literally all it would take! no one is expecting white fans to start whipping themselves in repentance!!! but a lot of these fans are struggling with that, clearly lol. they'd rather hyperfocus on one little line of cathartic and pretend it's a big deal, cus it's easier to talk about "zayn vs zain" or whatever than it is for them to analyse their own behaviour. but, like, their refusal to discuss the part they've played in the fandom's racism is literally just reinforcing the issue!! this is what zayn meant when he was said nobody is listening!

I have always felt so deeply for and sympathized with these issues, but I could never truly understand because while I am white and hispanic, I am white-passing and have white privilege. I hate evil and discrimination and racism, but I'm also sure I have at times contributed to it, even unintentionally. As you said, it is deeply engrained into our society, our entertainment, our jobs, our conversations, our jokes, our lives, our thoughts, our homes. It is in fandom too and I've always noticed a different tone (mainly when I'm on twitter) when people speak about Zayn. They cut him no slack. They question his motives. He is always judged so harshly. His music and lyrics are often ignored. And the Zouis breakup is usually always placed on his shoulders, even though we don't know the actual truth of what happened between the two. I've been thinking about this the last couple of days and even more so after listening to Cathartic. Zayn Malik is a grown ass man. A POC who was mistreated and discriminated against while in One Direction and still. He knows his trauma and is allowed to do what is best for him (Calamity). I wish Louis and Zayn would publicly be friends again, that is no secret, but it's not necessarily fair of me to put that on their shoulders because it has more to do with me than what is best for them. I still love and always will love Zouis, but it's in the past and that's how I'll celebrate it from now on because I do think they cared for each other very much.

I told you guys to cut jungkook some slack :(( the only time he truly disagreed with y/n (and the main reason why jk pissed off some of you) was when he get back to Kiko. He understood y/n and knew she's just having his back, but it's not her relationship and at the end of the day he could just told her to fuck off because his relationship with Kiko is none of her business but he didn't, and wanted to make sure they're both okay and overall just wanted to avoid any uncomfortable situations (which proved to happen anyway lol poor jk). I think that's what shows how much he cares for both of them too.

I feel like I send you too many prompts, pls feel free to ignore if you want :)) voltron fam, imagine Shiro was called for an operation in a hospital in another state so he was gone for like a week, when he came home he missed his husband's cooking so much he cried. Keith thinks he's totally overreacting, the kids think its adorable & posted a vid on keith's insta lmao. Comments were either "wow, hot AND he can cook! Tbh I'd cry too" or "the husband's hot too?? Wth thats unfair!" Lol

[The Voltron Family] The flight was long and too many people with their suitcases were walking around the airport but that didn’t stop Shiro from getting excited. He looked around at the people standing to wait at the arrival area and met the eyes of the one he loved the most. He walked quickly and the nearer he got, the bigger his smile became.

“Hello, my red bean,” Shiro greeted as he pulled Keith into an embrace. “Thank you for taking your time to pick me up.”

“I had no choice. I’m your husband,” Keith rolled his eyes fondly. He pulled away to kiss Shiro on the cheek only to be kissed on the lips. “Sneaky.”

“I’m your husband,” Shiro mocked, giving Keith another kiss.

“Alright, that’s enough,” Keith shook his head in disapprovingly, however, his grin told Shiro they would continue in private. They started walking and the younger man asked, “How was the flight?”

“Awful without you,” Shiro frowned, leaning in again for a kiss but was stopped immediately by Keith’s finger on his lips. “I was deprived of your kisses for a week! I need—”

“Takashi,” Keith warned. “People are looking.”

“I don’t care.”

“Well, I care because I’m hungry and I made lunch so we need to get home. I know you haven’t eaten anything either.”

Shiro wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. “I’d like to have my lunch now if you don’t mind.” Keith just stared at him, the kind that made Shiro rethink about his awful life choices especially on his attempt with sexual innuendos to his asexual husband. Shiro gulped, feeling a little awkward at the lack of response. “Uh, yeah. Lunch at home would be great. What did you cook, honey?”

An hour later and Shiro was a sobbing mess. His kids and husband were just looking at him probably thinking he lost his mind or that he was an emotional eater. Probably both.

“This is the best Cornflake Chicken Tenders I’ve ever tasted,” Shiro cried, not giving a damn how his tears just kept flowing down his cheeks.

Keith just raised an eyebrow at him. The dish had been the kids’ favourite so it wasn’t anything new to their table. But Shiro hadn’t had Keith’s delicious home cooking for a week so cut him some slack.

He got up from his seat and just went to Keith’s and hugged the heck out of him while crying, “You’re the best chicken chef in the world and I’m so lucky to be wearing a wedding ring that matches yours,” he paused to look at Keith in the eyes and added, “…with your name engraved on it.” He buried his face into his husband neck and continued his sobbing session. “I love you so much. I love you for cooking this. My god. I just really love you, Keith.”

“It’s just chicken tenders, Takashi. No big deal.”

The kids kept giggling and Shiro had no idea why.

Few hours later, he soon found out that the three little gremlins he called his children took a video of him during lunch crying his heart out. Taking a video was okay, posting it online on Instagram on the kids’ account dedicated for their Daddy Keith (which Shiro was hundred percent on board—bless these kids) was just beyond him.
