Getting to know you, me
rules: tag a few people you want to know better; make a new post, don’t reblog!
Tagged by @theheightofdishonor
Favorite color: green for like, aesthetic I guess? But for clothing or decor I prefer pink and purple.
Currently Reading: My Dress-Up Darling (which I HIGHLY recommend if you’re into wholesome and can tolerate/enjoy PLENTY of ecchi content in an manga/anime). I’m also thinking of finally actually reading bnha instead of only watching it. The next season is taking too long and I’m starving for content.
Last Song: y’all gonna hate this, but I don’t really listen to music that often… it was probably something super mundane like a top 40 pop song on the radio while I was driving. Last song I like purposely listened to was the Tuna Fishing song from the game Spiritfarer lol. It’s a jam ok.
Last Movie: Jujutsu Kaisen 0. I saw it for my birthday and it was GLORIOUS.
Last Series: Currently watching Our Flag Means Death. Slowly lol. Trying to make it last. I’m also currently watching the new season of Demon Slayer. And obviously I was watching My Dress-Up Darling until the season ended last week :( I also just finished Fena Pirate Princess recently, which was cute but I have my critiques of it. Let me know if you care to hear them 😂
Sweet, Spicy, or Savory: honestly all three. I love a good sweet and salty mixture. I love to eat sweet pickles and sharp cheese together for a snack. And I loooove me some spicy foods. Even though they make my tummy hurt lol
Coffee or Tea: Tea. Coffee makes me spazzy. But I do like to have the occasional decaf.
Three Ships: this one is always hard for me for some reason. I’m currently on a Sk8 kick so Renga (reki/langa), kiribaku (kirishima/bakugo) is a classic, my OTP is PROBABLY Chise/Elias from Ancient Magus Bride. It’s still my all time favorite show.
First Ship: Percabeth :3 (Percy/Annabeth)
Currently Working On: idk if you’d consider it a WIP since I’m incapable of ever actually working on it, but I’m currently working on a series of chibis for my favorite moments and characters in Elden Ring. The game is packed full of waifus and I must draw them. I just, gotta.
Favorite Piece of Clothing: my CLOAK. It’s the plush one they recently released and it’s soft and warm and pretty :3
Comfort Food: sandwiches lol. It’s like my favorite food because it satisfies all my flavor cravings the way I make it. (Whole grain bread, sliced turkey, cheddar cheese, Mayo, and spicy mustard. If I have lettuce or tomato I’ll add that. OH AND CHEETOS. I love Cheetos on my sandwich. Not with, ON) And it’s easy to make so I don’t put off eating it like when I have to cooking something.
Favorite Time of the Year: Spring :3 it’s my birthday season. And it’s pretty
Fave Fanfic: good gosh idk if I even know that. I don’t ever reread fics. It’s just a thing. I don’t rewatch most shows either. (Except a special few). So once I’ve read a fic it just kind of, gets added to my history and I move on? I know that sounds terrible. I read on AO3 so I always leave kudos and a comment on the ones I enjoy. I just don’t bother to hold on to them or reread them. BUT I usually read bnha fics just because there are SO MANY of them. Plenty to choose from. I also read fics for ancient magus bride, spirited away, inuyasha, demon slayer, and Zelda BOTW. But I couldn’t give a favorite unfortunately.
I’m tagging: @rosieposiepuddingnpie @floating-head @thundergodtempest and of course
@naked-aardvark (I know I already know everything about you, but I’m just curious on a few of these what you’ll say)
And of course if I didn’t tag you but you wanna do it, please go ahead!

High Gain - Shinoda’s Hitori-Atelier blog posts - REAMP Digest volume 2
Shinoda's blog post via Hitori-Atelier!
Please consider joining Hitori-Atelier and supporting Hitorie's ventures today. How-to here: https://boatmanju.wixsite.com/hitorietranslations/hitorie-atelier
Unlike curved edge, which we were pulling our hair out over...
This song went from nothing to something in a matter of moments, no joke. If I remember correctly it took about one day to finish the whole thing, lyrics included. It was done in a flash So I can’t really find much to talk about.
We’ve only one guitar now so Making two-edged riffs like we did before is out of the realm of possibility So I toiled to make a riff with oomph to it with just my lone guitar. So there’s actually three different recordings overlapping in there, I had to make efforts to veil the number of guitars. During the ooh~ oooh~ part of the outro there’s even an acoustic guitar there as well. Did y’all notice? For concerts I think I’m gonna find some sort of edgy fuzz pedal for this song.
The guitar solo that pops in for a moment in the second part of the song wasn’t actually supposed to be the real take. I just happened to play so so gosh damn well on a random take so we just went with it. I played so well that you’d almost think I was on drugs or something.
Reviews are raving over the bass, When the recording of the bass part was nearing completion, me or our engineer Hirai-san (I can’t remember which) proposed “How about ygarshy tries playing a free style full one-take?”. ygarshy playing however he pleases is a sight to behold, because each and every phrase he pumped up was way overpowered. My fear of him grows stronger. So we cut and paste the especially sick portions of ygarshy’s free style take, and with that the bass part was complete.
While I think Yumao was all excited that the new issue snare he got was a perfect match for the song or something. I’m happy for him.
That reminds me... There’s tons of different ways to eat food, and the ‘best way’ to eat it varies from person to person. Sometimes the people in charge of the food can be anal about that, forceful even, and even get fucking pissed if you don’t follow suit. Like if they say ‘start from the soup’. This kinda thing applies to music as well, as the ‘best way’ to listen to music varies from person to person. Be it that you need to be in a certain situation or mood, or whether you’re alone or drunk or in a club or not. Or maybe it needs to be high resolution or on the radio or from a tape recorder or maybe you built your own sound system. The possibilities are endless. If you want to change the frequency of something then you can just equalize it yourself. Restaurants give you condiments and allow you to boost the flavor in the same matter.
Then of course there’s the option of concerts. Everyone gets to talk about stuff like ‘That thing in that concert was insane, nothing can beat that thing from back then, I was there when the best take of that thing happened.’ etc. Then even the option of performing it yourself can be true too. In a way we Hitorie ourselves may be the ones who get to chow down on Hitorie’s music in the best way possible. I’m just sayin’
Just recently I found out my very own ‘best way’ to listen to “loveless”, a song by “my bloody valentine(maibura for short), a band I’ve respected for years now. So I thought I’d share it with y’all.
I need to listen to it on a volume so loud that my headphones are on the verge of exploding. The key word here is headphones. The sound pressure of their entire album is set fairly low, so compared to other modern music the monotony of the beat and tone + the feebleness of the sound pressure is borderline unpermittable in the world’s current climate. So it’s all about blasting those tedious tangents of the song into your ears at a volume high enough to blow you away.
Contrary to my bloody valentines’ chill and gloomy demeanor, their ideas on concerts are pretty damn violent ones. They perform at a volume way louder than your standard concert, to the point that they even hand out earplugs. Back when I first saw them in 2008 it was at the Fujirock festival, which is outdoors, so I didn’t get a real sense for the level of noise. So after that when I saw their own concerts at venues and indoor events I learned that their volume level is dangerously off the rail.
Then it hit me... ‘Isn’t this the same as the ‘Start from the soup’ thing?! Isn’t this like a ‘you gotta listen to it at a volume loud enough to make you go deaf' thing?! So isn’t like my bloody valentine is telling us that this is the best most tasty way to listen to it!?’ And without a moment to lose I flung my headphones onto my head and blasted ‘loveless’.
Wow. This is somethin’ else. It’s a whole new ‘loveless’. This whole album is tuned in a way that exudes ‘You fool- you don’t listen to this with your ears, you listen with your brain’ energy. The intro of the second track ‘loomer’ With enough heavy fuzz and bass to send your whole fucking head spinning. Their classic song ‘when you sleep’ too has these centralized scratchy distorted strokes and... I never knew how much they could eat away at your brain until now.
My headphones are vibrating so much that the sound quality is taking a dump but that somehow makes it all the more pleasing.   All along I had been clueless as to what ‘my bloody valentine’ are really all about.... Now, this 2021, I’m a firm believer in the power of ‘my bloody valentine’, the weight of my foolishness and the ringing in my ears have shown me the truth.
Back to High Gain though. I just wanted to say that you should blast this song at max volume, though Shinoda here has shamefully not tried it himself yet. This is a HIGHly serious matter. It’s true that we made REAMP before I ever even experienced the glory of the loud ‘loveless’, and we do always make music with the idea of a pure raw banger in mind so, We didn’t design it to be listened to at an unholy volume or anything. Now I’m worried that it’s going to just sound like shit so, I gotta take the punch myself first. I thought as I blasted High Gain, same as loveless, loud enough to make a kitten curl. Aaaaghh
Ooooohh
Yeah!
This is fantastic!!!!!!!
This is the shit!!!!!!! This is fine! Try it for yourself!!!!!!! Warning: loud volumes pose a high risk of damaging your ears. Normally I would not recommend you try this at home. Attempt at your own risk.

Rule: Put your playlist on shuffle and write the first 10 songs, then tag people.
Okay, honestly, thank you @abeautifuldunshine for tagging me again because this is one of my favorite tag games so far and I literally have a day worth of music so I always l o v e talking about music~ <33
“Le château magique” -Guilhem Desq; okay, first of all, I freakin love this french man - he plays the amazing electric hurdy-gurdy~!! This is one of my absolute favorite songs from him as it’s super mysterious, but alluring, and it can certainly make you think of a magic castle. When I first got into this song, my AP Lit class was reading Hamlet, so every time this song plays, all I can see is Hamlet slowly going insane - it would be a very interesting video to make...also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soP-VolZi0A this music video is S T U N N I N G and y’all should watch it if you have the chance~
“On a Cold Winter’s Day” -Quadriga Consort; This is a traditional Irish tune and I know it doesn’t fit this really hot summer, but it’s a cute, catchy, and fun song~
“Data and Picard” -Pogo; okay, I’ve said this several times, but I know Pogo isn’t a great man, but I’ve fallen in love with his music and it’s hard to fall out of love (it’s the same situation with Michael Jackson). And as a Star Trek fan, it’s really hard to not sing and dance along with Picard and Data
“Rhinestone Eyes” -Gorillaz; ICONIC omg - the only thing I don’t like about this song is the chords are freakin h a r d and it’s hard to learn on violin and uke
“Human” -Rag’n’Bone Man; his voice is beautiful, the message and emotions are powerful - this is an absolute amazing song that I highly recommend everyone to see and listen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3wKzyIN1yk ~
“Fallorun” -Andrew Bird; this is from Bird’s newest album “My Finest Work Yet” (which some of it is) - this is one of the weirder songs on the album, but the chorus is fun, the beat is catchy, and of course the lyrics are interesting (it’s andrew bird - all of his lyrics are different and amazing~)
“Ticker Tape” -Gorillaz; like the rest of the fandom, this isn’t my favorite Gorillaz song, but I love how mellow it is~ AND this song features Carly Simon - the woman who sung the classic Winnie the Pooh theme song that I grew up with, so when my mom and I first saw that she was on the Humanz album, we were ecstatic
“Rich” -Cosmo Sheldrake; again, I freakin love Cosmo~ This song has easy chords, a good rhythm, and a very interesting singer and lyrics (Anndreyah Vargas - who sounds like Isabella from Phineas and Ferb imo)
“We Dance Alone” -Beck; Beck is another one of my all time favorite artists~ I grew up listening to his weird songs and this song actually isn’t that weird compared to his other ones - I still absolutely love the fast, rhyming lyrics, bass, and electric noises~
“Moonlight Serenade” -Glenn Miller and His Orchestra; ahhh a classic swing song~ Glenn Miller’s classics just always make me smile~
I’m sorry this list is longer than the other ones 😅
And since this is the second time I’m doing this, I’m tagging whoever wants to do this a first, second, third, whatever time since it’s a lot of fun to do~!

Winter Holiday Chill Zone
“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” – Edith Sitwell
It’s no secret that we love a good listicle. When the opportunity presents itself to write about our favorite things, we jump on it. Traditions vary for those of us here at Knit Picks HQ, but the one common thread is that for each of us, this time of year offers a chance to indulge in the nostalgic traditions each of us holds dear. Whether it be watching Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas on repeat or imbibing a classy holiday cocktail or two, we hold each near and dear to our collective hearts.
In the spirit of all things merry & bright, we bring you our guide to enjoying the winter holidays!
  Ultimate Cookie Platter
Alexis – I love December; it is easily my favorite month of the year. Besides my love for all things Christmas (movies, songs, decorations), I get to spread some good cheer baking for all my family and friends. Baking cookies represents all of the things I love about the season, as it ties together tradition and generosity in a small tasty treat.
What once started as a simple continuation of a family tradition soon turned into a spreadsheet and baking madness as my desire to share grew. As soon as the calendar flips to December 1st, my humble kitchen and dining room transform into a virtual cookie factory. Pounds of flour, nuts, butter, and sugar line any extra counter space. Sweet smells of melted chocolate and gingerbread permeate the air during my rounds of baking for batches that get shipped or hand delivered to local friends and co-workers. And of course a few for the surprise visitors: Santa and his reindeer.
Because it is impossible for me to grasp moderation, especially when giving, I go all out with seven different cookie options that have expanded and shifted a little over the years. There are the staples: Gingerbread People, Pennsylvania Dutch Coconut Macaroons, Linzer Tartlets (my favorite), Bourbon Balls (the boozier the better); a new classic: Chipotle Chocolate Chip, my spin on a Mexican Hot Chocolate; and two new fan favorites: Caramel Salted Pretzel Linzers and Italian Bakery Style Butter Cookies, developed by my favorite home chef Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen. All of these are created with love and happiness as I dance to Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker Suite Op,71a covered in powdered sugar.
  Winter Sips
Daniel – I have four essential drinks that I have to have at some point during Winter.
Homemade Eggnog It’s not for everyone, but I’ve always enjoyed eggnog in all of its forms. I made my own eggnog for the first time just last year using this incredibly easy blender recipe. It was so well received that I made a second batch right after Christmas that I aged for three weeks. Not only do I recommend the taste, but aged nog is ironically also safer! If you’re particularly wary of raw eggs or prefer your eggnog kid- and teetotaler-friendly, you’ll need to cook your eggs! I like this clever recipe that tempers the eggs with scalded milk in a stand mixer, rather than going full custard.
Cinnamon Manhattan A serendipitous juxtaposition at a holiday baking party led directly to a festive version of my go-to winter cocktail. Just adding ground cinnamon to a drink results in unpleasant sediment, so now I make cinnamon syrup. Add a teaspoon to a standard Manhattan recipe (or any number of other traditional cocktails) for a healthy dose of holiday cheer. You can also add a whole nutmeg to the syrup for additional flavor, but I recommend avoiding clove.
Mulled Everything Full of spice and piping hot is my favorite way to have apple cider, the only way I’ll drink wine, and by far the best way to enjoy port. In my experience, store bought mixes are lackluster and not worth it, especially when it’s so easy to make your own. There are plenty of worthwhile recipes online, but I prefer the quick and simple like this one for mulled wine. If you’re thinking ahead, it’s simple to prepare your spices ahead of time and makes it more feasible to get a little more involved. Though it requires the extra effort to dry your own orange and ginger, I really like this fancier recipe. If you’re *really* ambitious, some homemade glogg will really impress at your next holiday party.
Cocoa! Absolutely necessary to all winter celebrations. While I’ll drink any kind of cocoa, and even have a special affection for store-bought mix packets, you don’t have to go crazy to make a good homemade mix. It also makes a delightful and easy gift!
  Festive Flicks
Hillary – The only surefire way to get me in the holiday spirit is by watching holiday movies! My favorite Christmas Eve tradition is going to the candlelight church service, coming home, and getting into new Christmas jammies to watch A Christmas Story.
Here are some of my must watch movies to snuggle in and catch the holiday spirit bug. Grab some hot cocoa, your favorite furry friend, and a cozy blanket!
In this sweet, feel-good movie, Charlie Brown seeks out the true meaning of Christmas with the help of his friends! Perfect for the young and the young-at-heart.
It’s a Wonderful Life is a classic for good reason. It was nominated for six Academy Awards and is on the list of 100 Greatest American Films of All Time.
And my personal favorite, The Nightmare Before Christmas! Tim Burton blends Christmas and Halloween together in a way that is both spooky and heartwarming at the same time.
If you want a good cry, The Family Stone is perfect for you. Full of an all-star cast that comprise a family full of quirky personalities, the story revolves around the holiday season. Although not a typical Christmas movie, it is a GREAT movie I highly recommend.
  Holiday Tunes
Kate – Full disclosure: I have to actively make it a point to NOT listen to Wham’s Last Christmas throughout the year. Not only do I get all 80’s kid misty-eyed when I hear it, but I may have accidentally indoctrinated my 5-year-old daughter into the Wham fan club, as she now requests this song as well. I blame my love of music on my dad, who ALWAYS had the radio on and tuned into his favorite classic rock station, and also my sister, who let me watch MTV* whenever she “babysat” me. Don’t worry though. This playlist does consist of more than just holiday pop hits from 1986. I added a little Darlene Love, Vince Guaraldi, and even a little of The Ramones for good measure. Download my Holidaze playlist here!
*Note: This was in the eighties, when MTV actually played music videos.
Favorite Winter Reads
Erica – For me, the best part of the holiday season is wrapping myself up in a big, cozy blanket and re-reading some of my favorite wintertime books. And when I say “wintertime books,” I’m referring to books I have deemed, for what I think are temperature-based reasons (more on this later), good for this time of year. Anyway, here are two of my favorites:
A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett
I’ve read this book countless times since I was a child, and it never fails to make me happy. But what’s now intriguing me most about this book is … why do I consider it a wintertime book? Is it the cold/wintery aspects of the story that keep me coming back, or is it the warm cozy parts that draw me in? Do I instinctively snuggle down deeper under my blanket when Sara Crewe is shivering in her attic room or running errands around London in her hole-filled shoes and skimpy, old clothes? Or, do I feel some sort of vicarious warm fuzzies when Ram Dass sneaks in and decks out Sara’s attic room with cozy furniture, tapestries, a roaring fire, and yummy food?
(I would stare at this illustration for hours.)
I think I love this book for both, honestly. Also, I know lovers of this story can be pretty opinionated about which illustrator they prefer, but I’m just going to go ahead and assert that Graham Rust’s illustrated version (originally released in 1989, which just happens to overlap with my childhood … coincidence?!) is the best one. And really, my assessment of this very much hinges on the two-page spread depicting Sara’s decked out attic room (above).
If you haven’t read this book, please do check it out! Just make sure to get yourself a full, unabridged version … there are a LOT of abridged “retellings” of this story out there, so be choosy.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
Fun fact! Charlotte Bronte’s unfinished manuscript for a novel entitled Emma was likely part of the inspiration for the book A Little Princess. (The more you know!) Anyway …
I think this is where my wintery feels start to be more about the cold and less about the warm and fuzzy. When I think about reading this book in the summer, it just feels wrong. How could I read about Jane shivering at Lowood school because THE WATER IN HER WASHBASIN HAS LITERALLY FROZEN during the dog days of summer? That just seems vulgar, doesn’t it?
It’s occurred to me that Jane Eyre features a similar “super cold” but then “warm and fuzzy” moment like Sara’s attic transformation in A Little Princess. Jane wanders the moor (SHE SLEEPS OUTSIDE IN THE COLD, Y’ALL), and shivers and starves, pretty much collapsing on St. John River’s doorstep before being brought inside to a cozy fire, food, and new friends!
But generally speaking, this book feels, temperature-wise, wintery. Sure, there’s fire. There’s passion. But when I think about Jane walking around, asserting herself even though she’s “poor, obscure, plain, and little,” I can’t help but imagine her with a cold nose and breath visible in the air.
Clever Non-Knit Gifts
Lee – I always love making and giving handmade gifts to my loved ones during the holidays, knit or otherwise! With a lot of non-knit gifts, you can batch-make several of the same kind of item to give everyone in your group, and/or you can have time to make more different kinds of items than with long-term knitting projects. In my old (pre-Knit Picks) life, I used to write a lot of craft project tutorials, so I’m going to point you to some of those projects that would make fun gifts!
Make yarn bowls out of old records for all your fiber friends! They aren’t quite as functional as real yarn bowls since they are very lightweight, but they’re still fun to have around. Just be sure to use scratched records that no one would want to listen to!
Spray paint thrifted picture frames with or without lace “stencils” and fill them with photos or song lyrics. I made these for my wedding and then let my guests take them home as wedding favors, but they’d also make great holiday gifts!
Many years ago I made this fun Before+After picture of my brothers as a gift to my parents. If you look at it from the left, you see a photo of them when they were little kids, and from the right you see them as adults.
If you have some pretty beads but no experience with jewelry-making, these easy 2-bead earrings are a great starting point, and they’ll make some quick+easy gifts!
And lastly, for your wool-loving friends, grab some of our Bare yarn and dye it yourself into custom hand-dyed gift skeins! I did a few Kool-Aid dyeing tutorials long ago (it’s food safe AND colorfast!), and you can also google to find more; here is one for specifically crock pot dyeing with Kool-Aid! It’s also easy to do this kind of dyeing in a microwave. Just be sure to use yarn that’s all or mostly wool, alpaca, or other animal fibers, in order for the dye to work.
  Tannenbaum Traditions
Hannah – The first year I got my very own Christmas tree, I realized that I’d not inherited a stash of ornaments! A new tradition was born: every year I make a handful of new decorations to add to my steadily growing collection. I try to make two sewn felt ornaments, two knit/crocheted, and a batch of cinnamon ornaments every year. Now, I’ve got a good-sized box, and I have sweet memories that go with every piece. I like Alicia Paulson’s felt patterns, this recipe for cinnamon ornaments, and I’m planning on making Annie Watts’ Walrus ornament this year (I love it so, so much!).
Whatever traditions you hold dear, or if this time of year is simply about relaxation and replenishment, we hope you are able to slow down and enjoy life a little. Happy holidays!

Hello, my lovely, loyal readers! Since I haven’t been regularly posting, I figured I’d give y’all an update on my reading escapades!
P.S. Did any of y’all suddenly get that song, “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes stuck in your heads?!
Sweet Reads
If you’re a fan of The Baby-sitters Club like me, you’ve absolutely GOT to check out the Graphix editions by Raina Telgemeier!
I read the third in the series, Mary Anne Saves the Day, and adored it! The Graphix editions totally take me back to the era of Ann M. Martin, the BSC creator.
I also adored and was greatly entertained by Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians! This book is so freaking good and I’m stoked to read the next two books in the series, China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems!
The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan is a precious, heartwarming read. While a departure from the genres I generally stick to, this story really grabbed me. I highly recommend Colgan’s novel!
Rereading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s childhood classic, Little House on the Prairie, also took me back in time. I’ve made it a mission to reread the entire Little House series this year and I’m so glad I decided to undertake this wonderful journey!
I’m a sucker for a good graphic novel, especially anything by Brian K. Vaughan, who is author of both the Saga and Paper Girls series, both of which I love. The most recent book I read was Paper Girls, Vol. 4 and it was awesome! I’m dying for volume five to come out – I think I have to wait until this fall!
Sour Reads
*A little note – the Sour Reads column typically includes books I rate three stars or less*
For a new book club I’m in, Read Between the Covers Book Club, [please join us!], I listened via Audible to Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu. I enjoyed Mathieu’s story, but I didn’t totally fall in love with it. Review to come!
I’m really disappointed, devastated really, to report that Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli was simply middle of the road for me. I did like the book; I’m super excited to read Albertalli’s follow-up, Leah on the Offbeat!
Currently – In Books
At this time, I’ve got four books on my plate! I’m reading the beautiful – so far – novel by Wally Lamb, I Know This Much is True, the Louisa May Alcott classic, Little Women, The Road to Jonestown: Jim Jones and Peoples Temple by Jeff Guinn, and I’m listening to The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan.
I’m reading Pan’s lovely tale for the book club I mentioned above, Read Between the Covers Book Club, and I chose to read Lamb’s and Alcott’s books for a reading event I’m co-hosting, which I’ll be mentioning later in this post. I picked the Jonestown book because honestly, cults and their leaders are intriguing – in a blows-my-mind sort of way!
Welcome to My Library!
Looking back over my book purchases these past couple months has astonished me – I’ve gotten a LOT more books than I thought! 😀 I guess I’ve discovered many more bookish resources!
I’m really looking forward to reading everything I’ve obtained – especially the remainder of the Geek Girls series by Holly Smale!
Since I obtained books from quite a few sources – and because I’m in the mood to list them 😀 – I’m going to break down my acquisitions by where I got them!
Kindle
An awfully cute and entertaining-looking book, Color Me Murder by Krista Davis, was added to my Kindle collection, as was Let’s Talk About Love [super excited for this one] by Claire Kann.
I also added I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sanchez, Tamora Pierce’s In the Hand of the Goddess [I love this series], The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro, and Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo [which I got for $1.99!].
Kobo
Kobo offered some great deals recently and I got my hands on Kate Carlisle’s A High-End Finish, which I had been continuously renewing through the library, thus my giving up and buying it.
What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum is another recent personal library addition. I’ve been very attracted to this book, I think because of the adorable cover!
I’ve been dying to read Agatha Christie and got hold of her first Hercule Poirot tale, The Mysterious Affair at Styles = super excited!
The Real [Digital] Library
I am virtually obsessed with the Overdrive app, enabling me to tap into the resources of the library without leaving my house!
When I began utilizing the app, I checked out as many books as possible; I have since learned to check out a few at a time to avoid rechecking books continuously!
As of now, I have a total of three books checked out, with one due in just a few days! LOL! Laura Ingalls Wilder’s fourth series book On the Banks of Plum Creek, Classified As Murder by Miranda James, and iZombie, Vol. 1: Dead to the World by Chris Roberson I borrowed.
I’m SO excited for the iZombie graphic novel – I had no clue there were books! I adore the show and that name – Liv Moore – tickles the crap out of me!
Book Depository
After reading the Geek Girl debut, aptly called Geek Girl, I fell in serious obsession mode with the series and added to my collection by ordering the rest of the series books!
All That Glitters, Head Over Heels, and Forever Geek moved into my library…err the basket beside my bed. 😀
In addition to Smale’s tales, I got a pretty copy of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman as well as China Rich Girlfriend!
Books-a-Million
I mentioned earlier how excited I am to read Leah on the Offbeat and I get to! I had totally forgotten that I’d ordered it! It’s like Christmas over here! 😀
Also from Books-a-Million, I got Saga, Vol. 8 and Paper Girls, Vol. 4 [which I’ve already devoured], both by Brian K. Vaughan
Challenging
So far, I’m still taking part in The Novel Knight’s Beat the Backlist challenge, the POPSUGAR reading challenge, and, of course, the 2018 Goodreads challenge for the year.
Challenges going on now for short periods of time include the read-a-thon challenge I’m co-hosting with wonderful Twitter friends, Spring Fling, the first installment of Seasonal-a-Thon!
I wanted to participate in Bout of Books 22, but it just didn’t work out for me this round. 😦
So, for Beat the Backlist, I’ve read quite a few backlist books, of which I am very proud! 😀 I’m a member of team Book Bards, and we’re making a comeback! Just because I feel like making a list, here’s a rundown of the books published prior to this year I’ve read!
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan
Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
Mary Anne Saves the Day by Raina Telgemeier and Ann M. Martin
Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
The Walking Dead, Vol. 9: Here We Remain by Robert Kirkman
The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snicket
The Truth About Stacey by Raina Telgemeier and Ann M. Martin
The Secrets of My Life by Caitlyn Jenner
The Austere Academy by Lemony Snicket
Geek Girl by Holly Smale
Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Moon Knight, Vol. 2: Reincarnations by Jeff Lemire
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Ms. Marvel, Vol. 4: Last Days by G. Willow Wilson
Why Buddhism is True by Robert Wright
Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
Saga, Vol. 6 by Brian K. Vaughan
Wires and Nerve, Vol. 1 by Marissa Meyer
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
As for the POPSUGAR challenge, I don’t think I’ve completed any of the categories yet, although I do have a mostly complete TBR list. I’m working on Little Women and I Know This Much is True for our month-long read-a-thon!
I’m really proud of my progress in the Goodreads challenge; my current total read is 29, with my goal for 2018 being 77 books. While I am two books behind schedule, I’m not scared – I’m juggling four books at once, plus, I Know This Much is True is really long! LOL!
Love, Maggie
What’s Going On? Hello, my lovely, loyal readers! Since I haven't been regularly posting, I figured I'd give y'all an update on my reading escapades!
