started out with gymnastics when i was ~6 (probably bc baby me started climbing street lights bc our trees were too smol xD), then switched to tennis due to external circumstances and stuck with it until I moved for uni. Here the distances are all much bigger so going everywhere by bike was enough daily sports (30-40km/day), but then the pandemic happened. Now i have dumbbells and a yoga mat in my room and do stretches and (body)weight things most days bc all my 'things why i need to leave the house' are 25+km away. i am ok with going 20km one way but not more than that xD

i am good at learning music by ear + play flute and piccolo very well (this is prob bc Mama taught me how to learn music at a young age). It's so nice to have One Thing I am not self conscious about, esp bc it isn't tied to money or anything. These days it comes fairly effortless and I love playing and learning new pieces, and bc my orchestra appreciates me I get to play piccolo + solo parts too. I also used to be very good at singing but i am on hrt now and idk how that's gonna develop xD

I also write stuff and draw things and I do the drawing thing professionally/plan on doing so, at least (rn it's just small things on the side and wouldn't pay the bills). But neither feels like a talent bc everyone I started out with was better at it than me when we were kids. They just stopped doing it. Idk. Success through persistence and spite... both my art and writing feel extremely average (derogatory) most of the time, but I guess we will see if i manage to succeed anyway dklldkd

My thoughts after seeing Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama

Rama and Lakshman are the best brothers ever (also Rama literally killed multiple demons with divine weapons as a teenager and that’s honestly more than I accomplished at 15)

Sita has Disney Princess powers

“I will cleave your filthy brain in two!” is not a line I expected to hear from a PG rated movie

Bharata is underrated

Surpanakha needs therapy (and a nose job)

Ravana seriously needs to keep it in his pants (I was mentally shaking his shoulders and yelling “when will you learn that your actions have consequences!?” at him the entire time)

Hanuman gets swallowed by a sea serpent, then promptly chops the thing up into sushi

TL;DR: Declan is fucking nuts, and if you thinks that's fucking nuts, wait until you figure out the MC's back story because it's also, you guessed it, fucking nuts ... fuck.

Yeah, I don't know why I dropped the "f" bomb so many times...? Well, anyways...

Okay, so, excitingly enough, this was actually a requested game! Not only was it requested, but it was requested by the dev themselves. Allow me to flex for a singular second or two.

No, like, deadass, can everyone just forget about the game for two seconds and focus on me? Like, I'm actually hype about this! I didn't have to go game hunting! The game hunted for me. THE DEV hunted for ME. I'm just mad excited about that. That being said, if you didn't know you could send me requests, now you know lol.

Anywho, so, the game!

Admittedly, this game was a lot better than initially expected? If you've read my reviews before, you know I'm conceited and want to be absolutely immersed and live out my sick, twisted fantasy by self-inserting. Unfortunately, this game isn't a self-insert, and the start was a lil' slow, not gonna lie, but like once shit started rolling? I no longer cared about the lack of self-insert because lmaooooo it got kinda wild.

There really is something so lit about a game that you're like "...Yeah, I don't think I'm feeling this" or "I don't think I'm going to vibe with this" but then you're suddenly super invested, and you're just sitting there like "What the hell is going on?!". I can honestly say that that was exactly what happened, and gods damn it, am I glad that I stuck around for the madness.

That all being said, I think the intro is long enough. Let's get into the game, because lowkey excited to tell you guys about it. As always, I will give you as much information as possible without actually spoiling it because you just may have to gotta, really, totally play this for yourself

So, boom.

We do the generic wake up in the morning feelin' like PDiddy thing and welcome the day with positivity. After admiring the sky for a little, we notice that there is that good breakfast smell in the air and rush into the kitchen, but not before putting on the glasses that our loving boyfriend always reminds us to wear -- don't wanna trip over any steps or anything like that haha ha... ANYWAYS!

Before we see the breakfast, though, we see the absolute snack that's in front of us. The snack is bae, and the bae's name is Declan. Look at this little cinnamon roll.

To go off topic for a bit, I've seen cuter/more hot LI's but this one got the "adorkably cute" aesthetic pretty good, because he is lol. He's a dorky cute, and frankly, it's fitting.

Anywho, so we exchange our good mornings, eat our breakfast, and help Declan clean, even though he's adamant that we don't have to. I mean, sure, we could've not helped, but what kind of partner doesn't help with household chores?! Nah, we're gonna help the bae! So, we do, and...we get hurt in the process. It hurts, and Declan's freaking out a bit, but we get patched up -- even though we're not bleeding or anything -- and life is all good again.

We get dressed, making sure to wear our super cozy jacket to make sure we don't get cold -- even though, we're never cold but Declan always insists that we are -- and get our day with Declan officially started, but not before this weird little quip happens.

See, Declan gets a call from work, right, and he's trying to explain to them that we still aren't well after our car accident. Apparently, it was pretty bad, and we got some kind of amnesia from it, so Declan took some time off work to get us reacclimated to...well, life, but corporate ain't trying to hear that and told him to bring his ass back into work, like, yesterday. So, Declan somewhat finesses it and is able to get an extra day, but he's super sad that he has to leave us, and the feeling is definitely mutual. No worries though! Why? Because we've still got two days, so why not just make the most of it while he's here with us! Until...he falls ill, that is.

So, us being the amazing girlfriend that we is, we take care of Declan like he's been taking care of us. After a little while, Declan just opts for sleep, and we let him do so. Sleep does help a lot when you're sick, after all!

Tending to ourselves, we try to make ourselves a fat bowl of totally not Lucky Charms, but Luck Jewels -- totally different, and not at all the same, so don't argue with or "@" me. Whether we're eating knock off Lucky Charms or a totally different cereal doesn't matter though because there's not really any of it left except the dust, not to mention we totally wrecked the shelf while trying to find something else to eat.

This is a bit of a problem because we don't have a screwdriver to fix the shelf, and we're still damned hungry! We don't really have any choice but to go to the store, but for some reason, Declan's really weird about us leaving the house since we're still struggling with amnesia and remembering how certain things work, let alone how to actually do it properly or so he tells us. So, we put on a brave face, get dressed, take some money from his wallet, and head on out!

While scoping out the supermarket, we make note of these really bomb cupcakes in the window of a bakery and make a note to visit another day, but right now, we're on a mission, and we must stay focused, my bois! As planned, we get in there, get our cereal and a screwdriver. Okay! So far so good! Well, our plan kind've diverged when we run into this girl, and...huh...

She damn sure looks...

...a lot like us. More than a lot, actually. She's pretty much an exact copy. Well, that's...slightly uncomfortable and extremely confusing.

Clearly, she's thinking the same thing about us because she kind've rushes out before we can think any more about it or even say anything to her about it. We decide to follow suit and rush home ourselves to fix the shelf and finally eat something! We messed up a little though because we had gotten hurt -- again -- and Declan isn't exactly wearing glasses for no reason; he immediately noticed. We handle it pretty well though through some innocence and tears, and Declan drops the topic as soon as it comes up. Everything is gucci, again, and we're able to move on with our day and go to bed like normal.

The next day rolls around, Declan goes to work, and we officially have the house to ourself and our trusted stuffed companion, Bruce. After some debate, we decide that today is the day we could go to that Bakery that we saw and get some of those cupcakes that we saw in the window. When we get there, something really odd happens.

The guy who works in the bakery is talking to us like he knows us, even going as far as to mention our dad. He starts trying to follow up with us and mentioned stuff about a break up, and this evil man, and someone named Mittens and...what the hell is this guy talking about?

So, of course, we're just standing there, because we came in for cupcakes, and this man just comes out of the woodwork with all this...information, and we don't know how to respond to any of it, but here's the even wilder part. Remember that doppelgänger we had saw yesterday? She's ends up coming into the bakery during all of this, and immediately, the man takes note of his mistake and allows us to go on our way. Like...what the hell was that?

Whatever though, we eat some of our cupcakes, hide the rest when Declan comes home, skip dinner (for obvious reasons), and get to bed. Fast forwarding a bit, we end up leaving out again, and we're feeling a bit adventurous and decide to buy some hair dye to color our hair like the girl that we saw because...well, we thought it was super pretty, and we wanted to be pretty, too, so it felt like the right thing to do lol. It...didn't come out well.

Like, at all. Aside from the absolute disaster that our hair came out to be, we have an even bigger worry: How is Declan going to react when he sees us?

Yeah, that's...what I thought.

Well, now...this is damned embarrassing, but still, Declan is our sweet and loving boyfriend! He loves us! Surely he wouldn't think it silly of us to want to dye our hair. Surely he wouldn't make fun of us for failing so miserably. Surely he wouldn't get angry that we snuck out to buy the hair dye. Surely he wouldn't get angry when he figures out that this wasn't our first time sneaking out. Surely he wouldn't lash out and turn into someone he isn't...

Surely not.

And that's all I'm going to tell you! Aht, aht! Don't make that face! You know that I (usually) never tell you about how a visual novel ends! You gots to play it for yourself if you want to know how it ends, and trust me, you're going to want to know. Just a tip, this isn't even the "true" ending, and believe me when I say...

It gets pretty wild.

Okay, so this game is actually pretty good!

Y'all know I wouldn't lie to you, even if a dev specifically asks me to review their game, and let me tell you, I was not feeling it at first. I honestly truly wasn't. The start was kinda slow, there was a side-sprite of the MC, and there wasn't an option to put your own name in. I was pretty bummed because one of the main things for me is the option to self-insert, so for me, the game was kinda doomed from the start, and I probably wouldn't have downloaded it if I was just scrolling along and saw this game on my own, but listeeeeeen.

The plot itself, while it's nothing super innovative or anything, it was pretty damn solid. I really want to tell you the specifics but it would literally ruin the game as a whole. Honestly, from the title and just what I told you, you can probably gather what's going on, but how everything goes down and the information that we find out and ultimately how it all ends is a bit wild.

It's not a super choice heavy game, but the choices that are available -- and pay attention because this is about to be a "pro not really pro but something I think would be helpful to point out" tip! -- are essentially options that dictate how the second half of the story goes and what points you to the "bad" ending, the "good" ending, and the "true" ending, so keep that in mind.

The only gripe I have about the game is that the title is kind've a dead giveaway as to what's going on, especially when you play through like the first couple "scenes" or so of the game. Other than that, it's a pretty good read! It definitely kept me interested despite it being more "novely" (if you read my other review, that's a word I use to describe visual novels that have a more linear story line). Not to mention, the art style was pretty damn adorbs, and I liked that there was a lot of different CGs. I haven't run across a visual novel yet that's had as many CGs as this one has, so that was definitely a welcomed change because...well, I like art/drawings lol. Like, look at some of these images!

Ugh, the amount of CGs just scratched my brain so correctly. I am a visual novel CG slut, I tell ya. Anytime there's a CG in a visual novel? I'm all over that shit. I love CGs. CGs for life. CGs forever.

Okay, that's enough gushing about the CGs...

ANYWAYS! That is my review of the game! Again, I thought it was a pretty solid read, and I recommend! It's free, so, what have you got to waste other than time? Anyway, hi, come meet the gremlin into whose save I’ve poured about 80 hours in the last 2 weeks.

Their name is Wren. They use female body frame and they/them pronouns, and they may or may not be a liiiittle bit not human. Just a bit of radiation, promise.

More stuff about them (mostly relationships) under the cut.

They’re in their early 20s, their birthday is 13 of Spring.

Their workshop is called Cait Sith because once upon a time they got a working copy of Final Fantasy VII and... Well, yanno, robot cat.

They’re a builder from Highwind from fancy Builder school. They love making stuff, ruin diving, technology, and people-watching. Due to their... Inhuman nature, they can come off as weird, but since they’re honest, genuine, and hard-working to a workaholic degree (also can’t keep out of other people’s business for shit) they do tend to make friends by osmosis, at least in adulthood. In childhood, they’ve been kind-of adopted by Nia, and they hold her in very high regard for it (as seen by them wearing the bunny accessory from her) as other children shied away from them.

Their relationship with townsfolk go as follows:

They’ve had a crush on Fang on sight, and it’s only rooted itself deeper as they’ve gotten to know him, though they are still working up the courage to give him the Heart Knot. Meanwhile, they keep reminding Fang to rest (especially when his health acts up), and Fang reminds them to slow the fuck down and go to sleep before midnight this time or else. Doctor’s orders.

Nia is their childhood/best friend, and they hold her in very high regard.

Their mother’s name is Maeve, their father’s name is Robyn, and they are the oldest of 4 siblings, with twin younger brothers, Jay and Qrow, and a younger sister, Dove.

They’re really good friends with Owen (all the part time work), Heidi (all the construction work), X (easier to get along with animals), and Justice (he actually seeks Wren’s company out sometimes + Civil Corp membership), and slightly less close with Unsuur (mostly working together), Mabel (jobs + dealing with Elsie and Cooper), and Qi (not-Gundams, but also Wren wants that ninja sword). They’re also friendly with Amirah (older sister of a gremlin son bonding time), Rocky (united in their hatred for Yan), and Ernest (who got attached due to Wren often answering his food requests).

They really respect Vivi, Mort, Zeke, and especially Trudy. Though they also (somewhat, begrudgingly) respect Cooper, they avoid him like the plague and wither through his rants only barely.

They’ve kinda... Accidentally (?) adopted Andy because they did not vibe with Miguel. Andy seems to like this arrangement better, even if he still has to go to school.

Due to their personalities, they’ve always been queasy with Pen and Miguel, and they’ve outright despised Yan due to his greed and whinging. They’re also been majorly put off by Arvio due to their first few interactions, and though he’s gotten better (with Wren and Amirah’s meddling), Wren still isn’t wholly comfortable with him.

They’ve adopted all the pets (their favorite is Nemo) and they have a spotted horse called Toffee.

Rosie/Magic Mirror is... Certainly A Lot for them. But it’s useful, so.

With everyone else, they’re friendly but ambivalent.

hiiiiiiiii thank you so much for the ask!!!! I love talking about this stupid concept that has been rotting in my head since 2021 😬💖 and oh well, this one is gonna be long but if you also have any ideas I would love to hear them 🥰💘💕💖💕

But okay, I lied because I have two concepts related to high fantasy ( I am so normal about this lol)

For the "main" project I went with Pathfinder 1e because it has so many classes to choose from, that I didn't have to rely on homebrew stuff (and because I had to learn how this system works and after 5 years I still don't get some of the stuff 😅), so I settled on:

Joel as a haunted spiritualist looking to get rid of his phantom (spellcaster with occult magic and a "pet" aka phantom)

Niko as an urban skald who pledged to retake his family's ancestral land (d&d's bard/barbarian multiclass, probably will change the backstory because it feels too meh).

Joonas as a flamesinger bard, he's just some lucky guy and nothing bad has happened to him (yet), other than some tasteless patrons disliking his music

Olli as a stargazer oracle searching for many answers in the stars (kiiiiinda like a cleric, but not devoted to any or to a single god)

Tommi as an aspect of the bear shifter whose druidic circle succumbed to corruption (melee shapeshifter, kinda like d&d's circle of the moon druid)

Aleksi as a universalist arcanist tasked with paying back a heavy family debt and no, it isn't related to money at all (d&d's sorcerer/wizard multiclass, he gets to summon a familiar and ofc it's Rilla 🥰)

If I go with that, I'm going to use Paizo's Pathfinder main campaign setting because I really don't want to come up with the worldbuilding lol (tbh that would imply creating a lot of everything from scratch, unless I actually go 100% insane and do it........)

The 2nd one is another fantasy AU where they are tieflings because who doesn't love tieflings???? I used d&d 5e and assigned one ability score to each of the boys:

Strength: Tommi as a Zariel bloodline tiefling, Path of the Totem Warrior (bear ofc) Barbarian (he strong)

Dexterity: Aleksi as a Mammon bloodline tiefling, Arcane Trickster Rogue (he's a rich little shit who loves to steal for fun)

Constitution: Joel as a Levistus bloodline tiefling, Blood Hunter from the Order of the Profane Soul with an Undead patron (I know it's mouthful but yeah.....)

Intellect: Olli as a Mephistopheles bloodline tiefling, Artillerist Artificier (and before anyone says oh but Olli is a dumbass, why intelligence? Listen. He's actually smart, but he's sooooo forgetful that not all his creations succeed...)

Wisdom: Niko as a Baalzebub bloodline tiefling, War Domain Cleric (originally I wanted to assign him the strenght attribute and Tommi would have the wisdom one, but I feel it works better this way. Niko seems to be a very wise dude IRL and not as physically strong as Tommi)

Charisma: Joonas as an Asmodeus bloodline tiefling, Wild Magic Sorcerer (I really really wanna homebrew a devil bloodline for this)

I haven't thought of any backstories or a storyline for this AU, I'm just vibing with the concept 😅 a lof of inspiration for the designs (that are in my mind ofc) comes from Pointy Hat's tiefling video, which please go watch if you haven't, it's an amazing channel.

I have a complicated relationship with art due to Not Having Enough Time And Skill. I tried to make some art back when I was choosing the horns and skin tones for tiefling!Olli, but I got frustrated and left it there to rot lol (+ i didn't like the style + took too much time)

For skin tones + eye color variation: red / purple / blue

Zoom of the two concepts I "finished" 😬 (smooth vs ribbed horns)

But yeah, that's mostly it! I wish I had more to show you, but I'm hoping to have enough time work on the tiefling!AU around December or early 2024😊

I'm gonna so some single headcanons for each of them and then ship hcs bc I got fucking brain rot for them.

Miho

Okay in the manga it is mentioned that Miho actually is a student librarian and I fully believe this girl is actually a huge bookworm. She loves fantasy and romance novels and always has a ton of books she loves to reccomend and would be an active part of booktok. She also probably adores shojo manga.

She owns every Bridgerton novel too you cannot convince me otherwise. She binges that show like it's the end of the world. She wants a regency era dress so bad. And a tiara.

Everyone kinda treats her as ditzy but I think she's smart in a lot of things that no one gives her credit for or sees as useful. She's actually really good at literary analysis and she's really good at making her own little knick knacks that make her happy. I think she just gets caught up in her own mind and her own daydreams she kinda just doesn't give as much attention or thought to conventional things or sometimes people's emotions but she tries so hard.

Would probably actually be a jack of all trades in several different areas bc she also picks up on her friends hobbies.

She always wants to go to Build A Bear with her friends so they can make plushies that can be besties.

Got into ttrpgs bc she thought Ryou was cute and wanted to impress him. Stayed bc she got genuinely invested and is actually a very active and dedicated player.

Miho looks like the girl that has the froggy chair from animal crossing in her bedroom. I think she'd love frogs.

She also gives trans girl vibes and I love that for her.

Duke

This boy gets the bougiest cologne he can fucking find and wears it like a badge of honor. Even if he does still dress like he shops at early 2000s Hot Topic.

Duke had to have been a theater kid. Look at him. That kid was Charlie in his middle school production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and now he's got main character syndrome.

I fully believe Duke is like. Nb or gender fluid. Just a vibe I get.

His favorite bonding time is going to drive his buddies to Taco Bell at 1 in the morning for a food run while they're blasting music in his convertible. He just loves the fun aspect of it and then the quality time of going to park somewhere and just sitting out and talking on a spring or summer night when it's warm and the stars are shining brightly.

He's the only one in the friend group who has an A in math like he's the only one allowed to do math.

Has a secret tattoo that only the dnd gang know about no one else is ever allowed to know, it is a secret to be taken to the grave.

Is not afraid to yell self confidence into you.

Miho/Duke (I AM ACCEPTING ANY SHIP NAME NOMINATIONS BC I HAVE YET TO FIND IT AND THEY DESERVE ONE)

They are both poly and established early on its okay to date other people as long as they keep open and honest communication and also they get to help pick out each other's outfits so they look their best.

They are super cuddly all the time like they will be on the couch just sprawled out together or Miho sitting in Dukes lap they just always wanna cuddle.

Miho and Duke doing each others makeup would be perfection.

Their first anniversary Duke takes her to a Bridgerton themed ball and got her the perfect dress and it was the sweetest thing.

All the self care / spa day dates all the time.

They flirt all the time and have cutesy pet names for each other and it's the really corny ones like Dukey-kins and Shnookums.

Matching/coordinated outfits for big events all the time.

They would be the aunt and uncle in the future that show up after a trip across Europe with all the presents and also pick you up after like 2nd period for food and don't take you back to school.

Three favorite ships: My top 3 pretty much stay the same, so I'll say some newer/more obscure ones.

Holy Ghost from Starkid's Nerdy Prudes Must Die - Grace wants to get rid of Max because she's attracted to him and unmarried, and he called her bath water dirty girl soup in her fantasies. He dies due to her actions (debatable if that was her intention) and becomes a vengeful ghost who wants to kill nerdy prudes- which should include Grace but doesn't because he likes her. A match in only the buck wild things starkid could come up with a.k.a. heaven <3

Claire x William from Stay (2017) - I know, I know. There relationship is messed up. I kinda ship them, I kinda want her to kick his ass. But this is what happens when you watch Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas on repeat as a kid and think it's the main film. I like twisted dynamics in fiction. It's interesting to explore.

Cairo x Riley from We Are the Tigers Musical - I may have mentioned them before in one of these tag games. I am still obsessed with We Are the Tigers and can't stop watching and listening to it. I still wanna do an in-depth analysis of all the characters but omg "Wallflower" is so interesting, especially now I know it's canon that Cairo had a crush on Riley at some point. She took Riley under her wing from a young age. They've been best friends since, but they're totally co-dependent. Cairo feels like she has to protect Riley and her image because she can't mentally handle stress and it's pretty obvious she can't. But she thinks Riley owes everything to her and that Riley would be nothing without her. But Riley equally knows she needs Cairo and kinda hates that, trying to elevate her status so she'll feel less dependent on Cairo. If Riley's plan was to kill everyone disrupting the team then Cairo maybe should have been the first person on her list because she antagonised the most people, but Riley never even entertained that idea until she had completely broken down because she needs Cairo and knows she would do anything for her. She's even seems to be jealous of any partner Cairo has. It's so unhealthy. I love it! *heart eyes* xD. I will never be over the utter heartbreak shown on Cairo's face when she finds out what Riley did.

First ship: I can't remember for sure but I think it was Cinderella x Prince Christopher from Rodger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella 1997. I used to watch that movie a lot as a kid. It was one of my favourite movies growing up and still is. I'm so excited that they'll be returning in Descendents 4. I still can't believe it. Cried happy tears when I found out. And they had a kid!

Last movie: Stay (2017). I just found it 2 weeks ago and I am a little (okay, a lot) obsessed. Highly recommend if you like psychological stuff like me. It's a feature-length indie film about a man holding a woman captive in hopes that in time she will fall in love with him. It has some clear Beauty and the Beast symbolism and is kinda a twisted version. Dude gave me a lot of Jefferson vibes. Things didn't get...umm... explicitly sexual between the characters, which I found refreshing in a movie like this. But yeah, I'm very obsessed and I wish there was a fandom for it.

Currently reading: I pretty much exclusively listen to audiobooks due to reading difficulties, but Charlie Bone and the Hall of Mirrors, Keeper of the Lost Cities: Exile and I just finished Fraternity by Andy Mientus. I've been a fan of his from his musical theatre career and I was pleasantly surprised he was such a fantastic writer. The book is wonderfully queer and supernatural and set in the 90s with an engaging storyline and characters. I couldn't recommend enough. One of the best books I've ever listened too.

Currently watching: Rewatching Let's Play Witches by Hatsy on youtube for the first time in years. It's probably the most engaging sims 4 let's plays I've seen. It has really creative world-building. Agatha is the loml and her speaking voice is indescribably unique and beautiful.

Rewatching That's So Raven with my Mum. We need a laugh right now and this show never fails to get us cackling.

Once Upon a Time season 5 with a rewatch group! Has been very fun watching the show with them. Makes season 5 not as bad as I usually find it.

I've been wanting to watch other things but I've been so fussy lately. Everything that peaks my interest ends up going down the road of horror and/or graphic violence, which is not fun for me at all. So if anyone has any recs lmk! I like psychological, musical, supernatural or superhero (not too keen on Marvel stuff, unless it's X-Men related).

Currently eating: Nothing right now but the last thing I had was a nacho bean veggie burger for breakfast. It was calling to me.

Currently craving: Sleep, lol. Puppy parenting is rewarding but, oh gee, Sarai is a little rebel. Love her, but by golly do miss sleep. RIP to every sock in the house also lol

And freedom from these huge-ass, thick spiders that keep breaking and entering. Please grant this wish, oh tag game gods.

do I have book recs!! you bet your sweet ass I do!! I love giving book recs ok I got so giddy when this came in. this is gonna be kinda a mishmash of recs, but I have sapphic book recs linked in my pinned post!

I think everyone should read A Ghost in the Throat by Doireann Ní Ghríofa. It's best described as creative nonfiction, following Ní Ghríofa's attempts to scavenge together the life of Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill, the classical Irish language poet. It explores the concept of "a female text" and I wrote an entire essay on this just a few weeks ago. It's beautiful and an exploration of things like motherhood, identity, control, etc. etc.

A different vibe, but I also highly recommend Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno Garcia. Chances are you've heard of this, but I literally cannot shut up about this book and I read it Last Year. It's pretty much exactly what the title says, it follows a woman who goes to visit her sister at her husband's family home, due to some concerning letters. It's quite slow, and if that's a dealbreaker for you, you might wanna avoid this one. But! If you can push through, and honestly even the slow parts are incredible, the last section of this book hits you like a fucking truck. I love this book, man. Creepy fucking vibes.

If anyone wants to read my favorite classics, including more modern classics, you've got Frankenstein, East of Eden, Dracula, The Secret History, and Little Women <3

For series! I love the Arc of the Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman. It basically explores a world in which natural death has been eliminated, necessitating the existence of "Scythes". I think it's pretty good to go in knowing very little. This series is a fucking ride and I would love to talk about it more </3

Want incredible sci-fi fantasy? Read The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin. That's all I have to say. This book was fucking incredible and I need the rest of the series as soon as possible. The first books I'm buying once my book ban is over. Earth(like the material)-centered magic/ability system. Complex social systems, a world unto itself. It's genuinely beautiful.

Babel by R.F. Kuang. Y'all. A critique of imperialism, academia, capitalism, race, and more all in one beautiful book. Set in a speculative fiction version of England and the British Empire that centers the near-magical abilities of silver and language. It's fucking incredible, and is one of the best books I've ever read. Also it has footnotes. I love footnotes.

for my graphic novel babes! Mooncakes by Wendy Xu, Suzanne Walker, and Joamette Gil! A witch and a werewolf, sapphic, just overall incredibly cozy and lovable and I wanna reread it <3

Also! For good romance with plus size characters that also had neurodivergent and chronic illness rep!! The Brown Sister's Trilogy by Talia Hibbert. I've probably talked about these before but they're incredible. My fave is probably Take a Hint, Dani Brown, but they're all so so good. Literally just beautiful stories about three plus size black women being loved and appreciated. Fucking incredible. Some of the only romance books I physically own because they're just that fucking good.

AU stuff

Wanna just note down my sunnyday jack AUs here so I can check back later.

There is a college AU, where Rex, Shaun and Jack where buddies in art college and did some projects together but their own thing.

Rex - photography focus but as skills in graphics and tradiontional (it was a given because he had to do it )

Shaun - Film (in the same boat as Rex)

Jack - Drama (But also Music because it is part of the course.)

I imagine they were in Barbados for this. O.O the school system I am working off of mostly.

Rex, Shaun, Ian and Jack took a part time Drama course as well. Jack just took it to spend time with Rex and Shaun....mostly Rex because he like Rex but he is with Ian at the time. So, I should be calling Jack, Joseph instead here because Jack is a character.

The groups vibe is kid core, clowns and horror. Rex isn't fully into horror yet but he is open to it because it helps not be seens as a soft baby. He is the force for the kidcore.

This AU spends from the second year of college to the forth. Associates and bachelor's degrees obtained in the creative arts before everyone split for 5 years to work.

Shaun, lucky enough, on his own projects.

Jack with the sunshine crew.

Ian....doesn't matter, this isn't about him.

And from there I don't know where I wanna go but hey. The timeline and will explain some of the art I will be making. :v

Second AU is basically everything is the same but Shaun is just here earlier.

Rex lost just job at [redacted] because the studio just stopped and the show with it. So to have two intenses happen at the same time kinda just rattled and Shaun can back to hep him out.

One night, Rex watched a tape he bought nd out came Jack. Rex can see him and Jack told that Shaun is his friend. :3c

Jack may not like Shaun but he knows how important he is to Rex, so he kinda just vibes with him. Showing himself to him too.

Because....he can be picked up on cameras. Old ones mostly.

This AU is just called 'I live with a ghost' because the project Rex is doing. He is still an artist here as well. Him and Shaun are working on a project together. A little film project before it becomes a bigger thing. A indie horror to match the brand Shaun.

The main work for this one is Rex's zine and Shaun and Rex's slasher film. I posted the first draft of it here but I am going to continue it then rework it. Jack likes having Rex's attention honestly, ao he is trying to make himself the center of Rex's focus in thia AU.

Who knows what will happen. :3

Th third AU is just Jack in my world. Paradise sage is an idea I have for a bunch of fantasy and tech characters. The 'right now' follows Mitchell, an AI who is struggling with emotions and being a figure head of a whole planet because his brother made said planet.

I just thought Mitchell would love Jack because he needs that close and sweet person who would take care of him. Romanitically, Mitchell had an awful boyfriend but he broke up with him and the struggle to have the crave for affection is so high because it feels like something in missing.

Not much thought outside of 'Oh! Jack would be perfect for Mitchell' and 'heheh robo furry Jack because he is a ghost and Atlas would recommend using a frame to be screen and attached to this world besides an old tape.' :v

Going try and draw all of them but main focus is 'I live with a ghost' one because it seems to be fun! :3c and the oldest of the 3 honestly.

i finally subscribed to dropout after seeing your posts about dimension 20 and game changer! i was wondering if you had any recommendations for campaigns (or other shows) to watch first? i've only seen clips or gif sets of all of them

OMG anon this makes me so so so so so happy and I hope you know what can of worms you just opened because this is one of my hyperfixations.

This is probably going to be a bit long (ETA: it was), so I'm throwing a cut down. I apologize in advance for the length. I am going to operate on you knowing very little background, so I apologize if I say things you already know. Just tryna cover my bases!

Hmmm okay. As far as campaigns for dimension 20 goes, it'll depend on your taste and how you like to do things.

Fantasy High is their first season, and if you like to watch things in order, I'd start there. I'd caution that this is true early days, and the cast (including Brennan, sometimes) are not as familiar with 5e yet, so please note that rules will be kinda wonky sometimes. Personally, I found it charming to watch them grow as players! Anyways, here is a bulleted list, in no particular order, that may or may not be helpful:

Fantasy High, Fantasy High: Sophomore Year (also referred to as D20: Live), Pirates of Leviathan, and The Seven, are all part of the same universe, released in the order I put them in. You can watch Pirates and the Seven without watching FH (they're side quests, which means they bring in guest players who are not of the main cast, and the seasons typically are shorter in episode quantity), but you might miss some easter eggs and references. Set in a world based on if John Hughes 80s movies vibes were translated to dnd! Very Breakfast Club right out the gate. I love it very much, and The Seven made me laugh and cry the most out of any season I think, as far as range of emotion goes.

If you don't care if it's about dnd, and want something shorter, I'd recommend Misfits and Magic. This was part of the Summer of Aabria Event, also a side quest, and she GMed a modified game of Kids on Brooms (Brennan is a player in this one). Subverting tropes and ideas that stemmed from... well, you know, that wizard series. And it made me cry like a baby and I loved the dynamic between the players very much. It's only four episodes, with a holiday special as well. It's a good place to start if you wanna get used to D20's edited production format.

I have a soft spot for The Unsleeping City (and its second season), as it has some of my very favorite Intrepid Heroes (this is how the fandom refers to the main cast of d20) player characters. It's Brennan's love letter to New York City, and it's an urban fantasy with very heroic themes. This is a Great full season to start with in my opinion!

My personal favorite season is A Crown of Candy. Please don't start with this one. It will be devastating. Low magic fantasy akin to Game of Thrones, but with way less misogyny and way more anthropomorphic foods. I know how it sounds. Believe me. Don't start here. (You can do what you want, really, but I have to be able to say I warned you.)

A Starstruck Odyssey uses a modified version of Star Wars 5e, and they made probably the most busted overpowered characters I've ever seen them make. It's really fun, and if you love space, you'll love this! I also loved this because while I'm very familiar with regular 5e, SW5e is completely different. So watching them do things I've never even heard of was incredibly refreshing.

Aabria also DMed a side quest that mixed 5e with Good Society, and it's regency meets the FeyWild. RP-heavy, and shenanigans abound. Absolutely unhinged repression arcs that had me screaming into my hands. A Court of Fey and Flowers!

Escape from the Bloodkeep is their first side quest, and notable guest star in this season is Matthew Mercer himself. It's a Lord of the Rings parody where everyone plays... a villain? 👀 Somehow incredibly wholesome regardless. This is also a very good side quest to start with, if you want a taste of how Brennan DMs.

As far as other shows go, Game Changer IS excellent. I would also recommend the spin-off Make Some Noise. Other shows I love are:

Breaking News Network: It will make you laugh. Pretty much guaranteed. They have people read from a teleprompter and they do not know what it will say. They are not allowed to smile or laugh.

A message from the CEO, starring Brennan Lee Mulligan: You might find most of these on YouTube already, but basically Brennan plays multiple beleaguered CEOs trying to make publicity videos for their products. Satirical and hilarious.

Dirty Laundry: Guests come in and submit secrets to the production team, and the host will read a secret out loud, and they try to guess whose secret it was. I have learned some truly insane things about people.

Total Forgiveness: Two cast members come up with challenges for each other, on the premise that if they complete the challenge, the production company will give them money to go towards their college loans. It's incredibly funny, but also if you suffer from secondhand embarrassment easily, this may not be for you.

Um, Actually: This is another game show! Players are given prompts where part of the prompt is incorrect, and they have to buzz in with the correction. Jeopardy rules: they have to say Um, Actually first, or else no points. The most pedantic show (affectionate).

Jesus I am so sorry about the length, and probably the incoherent nature of this entire thing. I could give you a breakdown of every single season of d20 easily, in chronological order, but I feel like I'm already on the verge of overwhelming and scaring you away LMAO.

Thank you for indulging me as well. I love talking about Dimension 20 and Dropout is truly the best streaming service I'm paying for currently.

since i don't know any of your ocs i want to hear you explain your top three faves :-) (if you can even rank them)

ooh, lemme see. this might be long 😅

1. Aerin Maxwell - Aerin is probably my top fav, ride or die OC. I came up with her in middle school (i’m about to turn 31) (the relentless passage of time makes me 🤪). She was originally a sky pirate in a Firefly-esque world, but without space. Her original plot was a sky captain on the search for her brother who was maybe involved in some secret government project to access alternate timelines? Now she’s the OC i throw into almost every piece of media I wanna engage with.

Since I was a kid, a lot of her characteristics were borrowed from other stuff I liked back then. Her last name and long braid are taken from Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing. She had/has a cool golden eye implant that was inspired by grown up Enzo from Reboot. (depending what universe she’s in, she has a golden eye under her eyepatch that can project maps, in other worlds it’s just a regular blind eye, sometimes she has both eyes)

She’s also morphed a little more into a pirate-cowboy hybrid over the years (mostly because i was into Brisco County Jr. in college). But her vibes have always been… cool lady with a shotgun 😂 Aerin is pretty much what I always wished I could be, self assured, competent, easily liked by others, good at running around and doing cool action stuff, passionate/compassionate, witty, Tall! Sigh.. she’s so dreamy. Her character colors are red and brown.

2. Adrian Edwards - ok I said Aerin was my ride or die, but i also have so so so much love in my heart for Adrian. He was initially created alongside my wife’s oc Liam Bardsley. Both regency boys - and I don’t remember this at all 😅 but apparently the idea was that Liam was made to reflect Romanticism, while Adrian was made to represent Gothic Literature. which makes sense! but i totally forgot haha

Now Adrian and Liam are part of an rpg podcast we do with our friends called Dandies in Danger! Adrian is a severely depressed poet, with the taste for the macabre and the unfortunate knack for picking up slightly cursed curios. As the eldest son, he’s supposed to take up a position at his family’s newspaper but he doeessnnnttt wwaaannntt ttooooo. This boy is super neurodivergent.

And in the way Aerin encapsulates a lot of traits I would like to have, Adrian is saddled with a bunch of my insecurities - depression, social anxiety, loneliness, too honest at times, self sabotaging. But he feels very deeply and cares a lot, even tho he doesn’t want people to think he does. His character colours are blue, black, silver (sometimes wine red).

3. Exile Redlink - it was hard picking a 3rd actually :0 but i’m gonna go with Exile. Also originally created way back in middle school - based entirely around scrambling my name and substituting some letters. At the time, she didn’t have a lot of substance, just kinda of an edgy goth look. But recently I felt like refurbishing her, while still embracing that middle school edgelord flavour.

So now she’s a teenager (like 15 i think?) cursed with being a demon!! 😱 Her story is set in a sort of fantasy sort of horror sort of sci-fi world. So she lives out in a pretty rural village, when bandits (or are they??) attack. Her mom hides her and when the coast is clear, she comes out to discover everyone has been killed 😱😱 in response to this, she goes to the village temple to fight god 🙂 Said god takes this poorly and curses her.

When I was a kid, I always drew her carrying a scythe - so I repurposed that into a big, evil cursed scythe that she has to carry around. The idea is that it builds up evil energy that she has to regularly disperse by killing stuff - or it’ll build up too much and like… explode. So she decides she’s gonna go around killing other demons. Exile has a lot of attitude and snark (it’s the trauma..) and is generally a rabble rousing little punk. My wife and I have a few characters in the story with her, so she eventually gets friends and a girlfriend. I can’t remember how her curse is supposed to be lifted or if we ever deconstruct the idea of demons and what it means for her to go around killing them instead of humans 😅 but that would be rly interesting to explore. Her characters colours are kind of undecided, but i associate her mostly with black and gold (as a demon she gets bleach blonde hair lol)

WIP Ramblings

I’ve been mulling over the WIP with the mother-daughter dynamic and instead of it being a space opera, I’m kinda feeling like it might be a better fantasy story.

Idk why, it’s just about ~vibes, I guess.

I think I also want to make a pretty intensive magic system. Not that that automatically rules out space opera. Best I can describe is it’s just instinct. Idk. ANYWAY.

Also kinda wanna do elves. Or vampires. I don’t know. I’d like to make the protagonists’ family powerful magical users. I was trying to work through the logic of why the warlord would want the daughter in the first place. (Other then I can take what I want) And then it occurred to me, if they had some kind of powerful magic, he could be like I want it in the bloodline.

It’d be a political move to strengthen his family’s position. I was also trying to figure out if the warlord is the one marrying the daughter (in which case I’d make him younger) or if it would be him arranging it for his son. Which sort of makes more sense the more I think about it. Still want an age difference there though because that’s just pure id.

I’m also envisioning a scene where once the guy (I need to name these dudes) decides the daughter is of age (her name is tentatively Aerdassa), he and his…idk. Whatever the hell they are. Brothers in arms. Ride in and carry her off ala Hades and Persephone. But this definitely isn’t going to be uwu H&P.

Of course, the mother (her name is Merassa) was expecting this. Prepared Aerdassa for this. Aerdassa is not some helpless damsel.

I’m torn between how I want to characterize her. Part of me wants her to play the damsel but another part of me really wants her to be a straight up bitch. Like you wanted me, fucker, well now you’ve got me and I’m going to make that everyone’s problem. Okay typing it out I definitely want to make her a bitch. Sorta like. “You brought the snake into the garden now you have to deal with the consequences.”

And I’d really love the dude to kind of love her for it. Kinda the opposite of Robert Baratheon. You got a power hungry wife? You cherish her.

But even though he might love her and she might even love him, i just want this to be…extremely fucked up. I want tumblr to burn me at the stake for this relationship lmao.

I also need to work out the societal structures.

I know I want the mother daughters society to be matrilineal. I know I don’t want warrior women. But I also don’t know how I feel about having a society where the ideal is “traditional” femininity. But I guess maybe my own hangup with that is my own patriarchal views of femininity. Also something something I personally don’t identify with traditional femininity so that’s probably playing a part. Idk I’d really love to talk this bit over with someone. Because something something I really loved how powerful Sansa and Cersei were while being allowed to be “traditionally” feminine.

Also something something poison magic because “poison is a woman’s weapon” and I’ve been obsessed with the poisoner magic concept from Three Dark Crowns.

ALSO. I was listening to “I Will Never Die” by Delta Rae and I’d loooooooove for there to be a resurrection plot somewhere. Just ugh. Maybe for the mother. Because I don’t really know what I want to do with her yet. Aerdassa and the warlord is the most interesting story I have for this world. I was thinking of maybe making a sort…saga for it. A trilogy for Aerdassa. A trilogy for Merassa. And because I’m already in love with this world a trilogy for Aerdassa’s child. Or maybe Merassa’s mother. Though since I already plan on making Aerdassa pregnant I feel like it’d make more sense for it be her daughter. Plus. Merassa as a grandmother?? Yes please.

OK!!! Long rambling post bc I finished my second rewatch of the ninjago movie!! Ignore if you’re one of my mcyt mutuals or don’t want any potential spoilers (?) for for sun song (my movieverse long fic that’s doing to have two twin plot lines oooo you wanna read it so bad) bc I am just rambling about how I’m gluing all the conflicting lore together

-France Exists. They have a little French guy say “bonjour ninjago!” so somewhere out there is the country of France. Idk about all that so. Fantasy France is still fantasy Asia 👍

-They also use Spanish words all the time so same extends here everyone is all fantasy Lego Asian I am not thinking about the consequences of Ninjago taking place on a pangea island with an inhospitable second island existing and Europe also existing I am willfully erasing Europe

-Lloyd is giving major “therapist friend who isn’t in therapy themselves” like he does all the emotional labor and for what

-He also tends to smile when uncomfortable and try to laugh off any of his own pain. Hypocritical styles of dealing with emotion etc etc

-My sooo serious /s revamp of the plot is including Meowthra being a more scary lion demon thing that gets banished through the power of love or some other dorky shit AND

-Lloyd getting his dumb lego arm ripped off is actually him SHATTERING shattering it (throwback to both him breaking his leg before the Garmadon fight way back in the beginning of the show and him breaking his arm w/Harumi and having arm armor for the rest of the show bc I’m so smart and big brained)

-The ninja kill Garmadon’s soldiers. People die. They are 16-17 in highschool and have racked up a kill count of several thousand when put together. I will try not to be cringe when I add this not so little detail I prommy

-The movie game makes things like Morro, Naddakan marrying Nya briefly, and the time twins all canon so. Adjusting the timeline to set those in the future idk if I’m including these guys in sun song in any major capacity but!! They are floating around somewhere

-Same thing goes for the Serpentine I’m just having them live in the next city over and just kinda vibing

Since the other ninja in the movie are just kinda, there. I’m giving them all backstories by chopping together what makes sense of their show ones, for example:

-Cole’s still got the dead mom and the dad who puts too much pressure on him

-I already said that Kai and Nya were raised in their parents blacksmith shop so they actually get a stable home life <3

-Zane is going to be Dr Julian’s failed attempt to build a better alexa that ended up sentient so he had to build this turning test passing weirdo a body so he can be a real boy™️ he doesn’t have a mom but all the movies on his hard drive make him think he has to pretend he does

-Ed and Edna are going to be Jay’s maternal grandparents/long term foster parents bc Libber and tbh I forgot his dad’s name are major celebrities who do lines between takes like they got custody taken SO fast

-Garmadon and Koko are, SO DIVORCED. So Vinny will make an appearance as Lloyd’s new stepdad who is just so significantly better like he will be the dad that steps up

Here’s where there’s actual spoilers but like if anyone reads this far they deserve a treat. I am,,, SO FUCKING EXCITED for how I’m fitting Harumi into sun song like queen really is going to show the fuck up and start stabbing people
