What if Mike has known for longer than Will? What then? What if Mike knew he didn’t look at Will the way Dustin and Lucas did. What if he knew it wasn’t just because they were best friends.
I recently reposted a video of little Byler moments you probably missed and one of them was when he puts his hand on the table next to Will’s, he reaches for Will’s hand before deciding not to then hesitantly touches their thumbs together momentarily. You can have all those other moments and still be oblivious. But he had to be self aware enough there - in season 2 - to tell himself “don’t hold his hand. that looks...you don’t want people thinking things.”
So what if Mike met a really nice boy on the playground and started to have a crush on him like kids do and then it didn’t go away and then then he was bullied for having a crush on his best friend...because he did...and the bullies made sure he knew that he shouldn’t. But he did and he knew he did. But we watched as his relationship with El was simultaneous with the homophobic bullying. There was even a comment on her status as a girl that wasn’t grossed out by him. Even if just with Dustin and Lucas, even though he trusted them, he could build that reputation. He could say “yeah totally I have a crush on her” and they could tell people “yeah totally he’s had a crush on a girl”. And he asked her to the Snow Ball. He wanted to be seen with her. And he couldn’t describe why she wouldn’t be his sister so he just kissed her because she would get what he meant and...I mean now he can say he’s kissed a girl? Add that to the list? Same way he barely, awkwardly leaned in in the bathroom after being told he had a crush on her...it’s what he was expected to do and he didn’t want anyone to ask why he didn’t.
What if he didn’t think it would go as far as it did? What if he just meant for people to think they were a thing but then he didn’t know how to explain to her what to act like to seem like it was a date so he...demonstrated. And then he thought they would still just be friends and look like more and he wasn’t thinking about it and when she came back he thought they would be friends. And then she leaned in to kiss him before she left and he didn’t lean back but it was okay because they were interrupted. And then Will was dancing with a girl so he should too and she showed up which was a nice surprise and he knew she would go along and the dancing would still be nice and people could see them so he kissed her. And maybe he didn’t realize what he was doing to her or maybe he felt bad the whole time, who knows.
And then what if he felt bad because then he had to keep up the lie with her because she wasn’t in on it now like he originally thought she might. So he kisses her. And he’s late to the movies all the time so they know that he was. And he’s actually perfectly fine with not dating her, he just wants to be friends again. But...he honestly would rather stay not dating her, but he knows he should get back together or it’ll seem like he never liked her if he seems not to care so he asks Lucas how boys who miss their ex girlfriends are supposed to act. And he is racked with guilt over all of this so when Will of all people tells him it’s hurting him too that he’s lying to El, he just can’t handle it and he lashes out because please dear god can’t Will just be happy with a girlfriend or something too I don’t want to have to hurt him too. And please like girls, Will, please dear god I don’t know how to hold out as straight if you don’t. Please like girls so I can at least move on from you and not have to juggle lying to BOTH of you. And then he says “I love you” in front of everyone. And he didn’t mean it like that. But now they all expect him to tell her. But that’s too far. It’s just too far. He’ll dance with her and he’ll date her and he’ll kiss her and he’ll try to win her back but he refuses to lie to her and tell her he loves her. That’s just mean. But he’s expected to so he tries. But his conscience won’t let him. So when he finds out that she heard anyways he’s...horrified. This is further than he ever intended for it to go.
But it’s easy from a distance. Because he likes talking to her just fine. And maybe he doesn’t even notice he signs “from” when she signs “love”. Or maybe he sees her sign “love” and it hurts to know he’s not saying it back but he would still rather that than lie. And he tries to call Will but he can’t get through but he also isn’t gonna write him letters or anything because part of him knows he would sign them “love” and he just cannot confront that. But Will doesn’t call him either and that feels horrible but you know what maybe it’s for the best so he only has to juggle this lie with El. But then whoops he can’t contain it and he might have accidentally mentioned how sad he was that Will didn’t call under the thin veil of not telling him about El (but really? not even then did you call?). And Will says he was a third wheel. And he’s sorry but he has to close his ears, he can’t do this again, especially not while looking for El who’s crying. And he walks away. And he’ll apologize later, he swears, he’s just overwhelmed and confused and why is Will even jealous but also didn’t call? But then Will is upset at him for not calling more but he did. And he says “what about us?” which is a little too in his head for comfort. And he’s saying all the things Mike won’t let himself say. And he wants to say he called so many times. And he thought about calling so many more. And he wanted to write, he just couldn’t let himself. But he can’t exactly say that. So he reaches for anything close but not suspicious in little enough reaction time that it seems normal but that doesn’t land great because he says that he couldn’t write to both El and him and Will asks what the difference is. shit. what is the difference between Will and the person Will thinks he has feelings for. Did he seriously just ask that? No, he didn’t mean it like that. Obviously, they’re friends not dating. That’s the difference. That doesn’t land great either and he can’t exactly say “I can’t reach out to you, Will, because I have a girlfriend and don’t ask me how that’s contradictory but you can reach out to me don’t ask why about that either but the point is you didn’t and you didn’t know that made up rule in my head but I wish you did and I wish you had anyways” so he tries to say the closest platonic thing and then he gives up and walks away. And he feels really bad.
And El noticed the “from”. And she’s crying and he really does care about her but that isn’t what she wanted to hear and he still just can’t, won’t lie to her. not about this. So she’s crying. And he can’t say it. And he wishes he could. But he wishes he could because it was true. He knows he would never lie about that. And she says “from” in her last letter and that still hurts. Because he wishes she never did love him one-sided but it still feels like shit if she stops. But with a second to breathe, he finds...ambiguous enough...words to apologize to Will and put it right this time. And Will is smiling so big and then he’s talking about secrets and then he’s handing him his beautiful paintings and talking a little too genuinely about (El) having feelings for him and goddamnit Will you are really not helping you know that? XD. And maybe part of him wants to believe that Will made this painting for him. Okay, a big part of him, but the logical part of him knows he can’t handle it. He has to tell himself he didn’t. And Will can’t be crying because that would mean he meant what he said as his own. And he can’t. he can’t. He must be seeing things. And he’s thinking about El and he does love her and he wants to just tell her that he loves her (and hopefully have her understand how he means it) but it’s all stuttery and slow and gets interrupted anyways because he still does know that she won’t understand how he means it. That no matter what, he knows the implication and that is the lie.
But then she’s dying. And here’s the kicker: if this is all true, Will Byers indirectly told him he loved him and it made him wanna die inside because it was just a reminder of how big of lie this next line was so he tensed and he pursed his lips and in any other circumstance he’d rather hurt her than lie about loving her but right now he’d rather lie about loving her than let her die. So he breaks the one rule he’s had about this whole situation for years. And it’s to save her. But he still feels guilty as hell about it. Because it’s still a lie. So part of him is glad they haven’t talked about it yet. He doesn’t wanna be in the type of relationship where you say I love you all the time and he has to lie like that every day. It’s already gone so much farther than he ever wanted. And he said I love you to her in front of Will. And this time, he did meant it as the lie it was interpreted as. And that just feels like lying to them both.
Because What if he’s known this entire time and is just kicking himself every day because he can’t get out of this situation without hurting people but every day he avoids it makes the hurt it would cause a little bigger. So he kicks himself every time he lies to El. And he kicks himself every time he lies to Will. And he kicks himself every time he feels bad about lying to El and spends time with Will for comfort. Because who knows if or when Will feels or knows, he still can’t handle even considering that (maybe he could do better with the whole being gay thing than he did when he was 12, but he still has a girlfriend now), but he’s known how he feels since it started. What if he’s just been knowingly in the “one way” closet for - who knows? around ten years? Just...dear god, child. Poor Mike Wheeler. What if he knows better than we thing. What if knows, has known, a little too well.

FUCK PKAY UH-
YANDERE HYBRID MIKE HCS PLEASE- a peacock maybe??? That’s what I see him as atleast-
Peacock Mike~
Funny thing is I saw Edgar as a Peacock, but they probably both would be one for different reasons.
Yandere! Peacock Hybrid! Mike Morton HCs/Concept
Possible Trigger Warnings: Yandere behavior such as a forced relationship, implied kidnapping, implied breeding.
Tumblr media
- Mike is such a show bird.
- The Peacock hybrid was brought into the circus for being eye catching and unique.
- His feathers are majestic and in pretty colors as he jumps through the air and run across the stage.
- He always looks so happy and his feathers capture the audience.
- The hybrid knows all sorts of tricks and rakes in good money for the circus.
- Juggling, Tight rope, Trampoline, you name it!
- But, the hybrid does tend to get lonely.
- He does nothing much but practice his acts and sit in the room they gave him.
- He curls up, knees to his chest and feathers down.
- Looking at his feathered arms and taloned feet, he wonders if the people at the circus are really his family.
- Do they love him? Or do they only want the money his appearance and talents bring in?
- Should he...leave?
- No, there's no point in leaving. What would he do in the outside world?
- He pushes the thoughts of running away until he meets you.
- Perhaps you're assigned as a caretaker for the circus.
- The peacock can't help but perk up when he meets you, going back to his normally cheery self.
- You help the hybrid learn his tricks and keep him company, did they finally see how sad he looked?
- Mike's performance actually improves after being introduced to you, the peacock wanting to impress you.
- His intentions become more obvious when Mike starts 'presenting' to you.
- His feathers are displayed outwards behind him when he looks at you.
- His posture is straightened and he cooes to you.
- You come to realize what this means.
- Mike will soon want his caretaker to be his mate.
- The peacock thinking what's better than breeding the one he cares most about.
- You two can run away from this circus together, have him breed you, and have small hybrid children.
- He'll never be alone or surrounded by fake family after that!
- Peacock! Mike would definitely kidnap to achieve his dream of having a family and mate.
- He wouldn't kill, however.
- He wants to live a happy and free life, all with the one he loves.
- Even if you have to be dragged into his fantasy by force.

Heya!! I actually just found your blog and I would like to say how amazing your writing it! Aaaa it's so cute and you seem very sweet!! <3
I came here to ask for a idv match up! I'm a female, she/her, I'm bi but I do have a preference towards men. Also, I don't mind a survivor or hunter!! Whatever you feel like atm dear. I'm very energetic when you get me in the right mood!! I love baking and editing! I also quite like photography. I'm a very loving person but can get cold if I feel bad so it's a bad habit TwT. I do give lots of compliments to people and it may seem like i like them but I just really like pointing out nice things about people. I love hugs and kisses especially!! I love it if my s/o could give me attention but not too much yknow? Like i want them to be happy with their life with me and their life outside of our relationship. Umm I hope that's enough!! Thank you for making your blog! It is very nice!! You're doing great!! I appreciate you <3 (ps. Make sure to eat and drink enough~)
Thank you for caring about my health dearie~ Honestly,, I could also say the same for you..(。・ω・。)
And I'm quite glad that you enjoy reading my blog posts! It means quite a lot for me whenever I hear people enjoying my blog as much as I enjoy writing them..( ´ ▽ ` )
After much thinking,, I've decided to match you up with...
Joseph Desaulnier!!📷
Tumblr media
Let's first address the big elephant in the room: Photography..(・∀・)
Since the both of you love photography,, I can most *definitely* imagine you two taking pictures of scenery found in the manor..
As well as *some* of the silly things that happen outside of matches.. Although,, it's more on your end than Joseph's..
However,, I must also remind you that you WILL be bombarded with questions partaining to your "equipment"..(。・ω・。)
Whether it'd be a modern HD camera or your smartphone,, it's safe to assume that Joseph will be VERY much curious about these "equipment" that you have brought from the "future" ((even though we call it anything *but* from the future..))
"Are you telling me that this camera of yours can capture pictures instantly??? With just a simple press of a button??? Then, does that mean you won't have to stand for long periods of time to take your picture???"
((Fun fact: the first cameras that were patented require you to stand for long periods of time to take your picture which explains why plenty of the pictures during the Victorian Era were people staying in one position like standing..))
"This "smartphone" can ALSO capture pictures?? Would you mind showing me how, ma chérie??"
"The quality of the pictures are ABSOLUTELY DIVINE! From what time period must you be to access this kind of machinery, ma chérie???"
I highly suggest that you study your equipment thoroughly because Joseph *will* be asking questions about your photography equipment..
Well,, that and Joseph will *literally* fumble with *every* single nook and cranny of said equipment where he might actually break something on accident..
Which is rare for the gentlemanly and disciplined Joseph,, however we ARE talking about one of his biggest passions here..╮(─▽─)╭
Another topic here that is perhaps connected somehow is editing!!(⌒▽⌒)
Joseph is quite astonished when you told him one time that photos can be tweaked from your time period..
Now, on one hand,, he is amused as he sometimes *does* struggle with getting the perfect picture when the environment around him just isn't having it..
But he also can't fathom the idea of people actually editing their photos so much that sometimes,, the unedited version looks far too different than the edited version...
When I say that,, I specifically mean people who probably use photoshop just a *bit* too much..(^_^;)
Not that there is anything wrong about it as everyone knows.. After all,, sometimes we just use it solely for entertainment by making weird, abstract collages of people..
((Like photoshopping a bunch of characters from different fandoms to make some sort of crack-crossover movie poster..╮(─▽─)╭))
It just that Joseph prefers less edited photos as he believes that a photo can shine on it's own when it's taken skillfully..
((Another fun fact: Based from what I can gather, the French in the 1800s preferred a more natural look, which is evident by their choices in makeup like powder for the face or some simple rouge for the lips and cheeks.. Of course,, we are excluding the hair as we all know that big, elaborate wigs were all the rage in this era..))
In fact,, he might even throw a *little* shade towards photos that are super edited...(◎_◎;)
Pls tell him to calm down and not insult people who do something similar to that.. It'll only escelate and get worse in the future..
Okay,, now that we've discussed those, I think we shall head on over to other things, don't you think??(・∀・)
Another reason as to why I paired you with Joseph is because of your upbeat and loving energy!!(〜^∇^)〜🧡
Joseph's life before the manor was already pretty gloomy, and it hasn't really improved when he got into the manor..
So your very energetic and affectionate nature will surely bring in some lost warmth to his life!!(>y<)
Although,, please be patient with him for at least a little while.. After all, him *suddenly* receiving love and attention is a bit overwhelming for him to process all at once..╮(─▽─)╭
When he *does* gets used to it, he appreciates it very much..(∩_∩)
With that being said however,, he is still quite disciplined about the time that you two spend together AND the time that you two spend seperately from each other so you won't have to worry about having your boundaries being meshed together..(・∀・)
On the topic of affections,, Joseph will actually be a bit shocked to hear you dish out compliments to everyone in the manor.. And quite frankly,, as well as everyone else that you complimented
((Listen,, we're talking about the Victorian Era,, where modesty is highlighted as a core value..))
I'll be honest in saying that for a split-second,, Joseph *might've* actually thought of you as a flirtatious person
So when you explained to him that that's just how you are and that you just like to point out nice things about other people,, he's confused..(^_^;)
"Wait, but you complimented Mike's juggling act. Shouldn't that mean that you would like to court him??"
"Didn't you tell Victor that you thought he was sweet?? Pardon me for asking this, but are you... Interested in him, ma chérie?"
You're going to have to explain to him that just because you like a certain aspect of a person,, that doesn't mean you actually like them AS A WHOLE...
He may or not have demanded that you bake for him the next time that you two will have your afternoon tea together..(⌒_⌒;)
It's his "apology gift" as he puts it...
Okay,, I know I said that Joseph absolutely appreciates your loving side,, but he also *adores* your more "colder" side..
And no,, it's not because he's a masochist..(。・ω・。)
See, as much as Joseph relishes in the feeling of protecting someone he cares/loves.. Even he can admit that sometimes,, it gets too exhausting when your partner is the *literal definition* of a walking doormat..
I don't know about you,, but I kind of picture Joseph as someone who wants to have a partner that, at the *very least*,, can stand on their own two feet.. It gives Joseph a sense of pride,, see???
In conclusion,, I personally think that you and Joseph would work wonders for each other!! Different in your personalities, but united through the same common interest of photography.. I'd say its a decent balance of "opposites attract" and "similarities attract"..
🎞📷🎞📷🎞📷🎞📷🎞📷🎞📷🎞📷🎞📷
Author's note: On the topic of people photoshopping the heck out of their photos.. DON'T HARRASS/BULLY/INSULT THEM PLEASE!!! I will be blunt in saying that I frankly do not care whatever your intentions were, because when you strip said intentions away from the grand scheme of things,,
All that's left is a situation where someone insulted/bullied/harassed another person just for editing their photos a bit too much..
And when you put it like that,, wouldn't you agree that it sounds idiotic? Because in all honesty, it is..(¬_¬) After all,, those photos won't be affecting you much in the long run now,, would they??
And even if you said that you did it with good intentions, the way you acted upon these "intentions" was poorly done when it could've been handled *much* more efficiently...
So in short,, pls don't harrass anyone that you know that does these to their photos, it's not only for their sake but also yours..( ´ ▽ ` )
I apologize for ranting like that,, however I feel as though these types of situations are completely meaningless AND avoidable had it not been for the people that continue to stick their fingers into others' honeyjars.. So I personally as though it needs to be said.. Again, sorry if this rant is a bit unsettling and a bit "rough on the edges"..(⌒_⌒;)
Well that's about it.. Until next time,, I'll see you all in my next post!!ヾ(@^∇^@)ノ💚

“Leader! Leader, are you almost done?” At her desk, a red-headed angel was juggling bullet casings. “You’ve been working all day, but you didn’t give me anything to do, and I’m booooored.”
“Yeah, Exia, I’m almost done.” Technically, the Doctor called her “Exusiai” like everyone else, but he’d convinced most of the other Operators to let him short-hand it. Especially since her name came up often in combat reports, almost exclusively with praise.
She sighed. “Alright, but I’ll believe ya this time. Why’d you ask me to be your assistant if you weren’t gonna give me work, anyway?”
“Because you make great eye candy,” he replied with a straight face, “which helps me keep my speed up, and I know that if I do need something, you can take care of it without any issues.”
“Eye candy?” Exia maintained her juggle while tilting her head to watch the Doctor better.
He shrugged. “Yeah. I like looking at you. Is that strange?”
“I’ve never heard someone be so blunt about it.” She caught the casings in her left hand, tossed one into the air, and flicked it directly onto the Doctor’s desk. “Besides, if I’m going to be here for the next week, I wanna be doing something, you know?”
“Alright, I’ll have something for you to do tomorrow...and done. You can head on home.”
Exia didn’t get up. “Are you staying here?”
“Not for work, but yeah.” He propped his feet up on his desk as his computer began shutting down. “It’s much easier for me to relax in my office than my dorm.”
“So you don’t wanna come out for drinks with me and the girls, then?”
The Doctor shrugged. “I don’t get out much.”
“Because you don’t like it, or because no one asks?”
“...I mean, most of the other Operators don’t seem to care one way or- okay, that’s not true.” He sighed. “Most of them don’t think to ask, you’re right. I’m their boss, and no matter how good the conversation we have, it stays like that. Are you inviting me?”
Exia shook her head with a sigh. “Lord help ya, of course I’m inviting you! Come on, have some fun tonight! I can pick up the slack if I need to, but let’s go party, huh?”
“Alright. Lemme go back to my place and change first; I’ll meet you there?”
“Nah, I’ll come get ya.” She winked at him. “These wings aren’t just for show, you know.”
He smiled. “I guess not. See you later.” With that, they got up from their desks, walked out of the office, and went their separate ways.
Later that night, the Doctor - after trading out his uniform for a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers - was sitting with Exia, watching Sora attempt to cajole Texas into doing karaoke with her as the Lupo’s defenses slowly collapsed. “You know, they’d make a good couple.”
“Because one’s high-energy and the other’s a big grump?” His drinking partner offered.
“Because one knows how the world works and the other can ignore it when she needs to,” he countered, “but yours wasn’t far off, I guess. You ever wonder what it’s like?”
She shook her head. “Not sure what you mean, Leader.”
“Being part of a couple.”
“Eh?” Exia laughed. “Leader, I think the drinks are getting to you.”
He shrugged. “Maybe so. Is that a no?”
“I mean, I can have plenty of fun being just friends with folks, you know? Besides, Sankta have to be more careful with things like that.”
“Really?” The Doctor waved a server over for another bottle. “Why’s that?”
She shifted in her seat. “Well, you gotta be sure the person you pick isn’t gonna end up in Hell when their time comes. I’d hate to make it in and find out my favorite person in the world got stuck on the other side.”
“Huh. I’ve never thought of it like that, I guess. Makes sense, though - I mean, it must hurt plenty when you fall from Heaven yourselves. Knowing it’s gonna happen to them...yeah, would ruin the fun.”
“Wait, you think I fell from Heaven?” Exia chuckled. “You might wanna check your source on that.”
He smirked. “I mean, they say all good things come from God, right? And all you seem to do is good.”
“Oh, no, I make my mistakes. Don’t make every shot, let bad guys through, lose my focus - not even Sankta are perfect.”
“Oh, I never said perfect.” The Doctor swirled his now half-empty bottle. “But every word I hear from someone’s mouth about you is either praise or thanks. I mean, I get it - a tall glass of water like yourself with a good head on her shoulders and a heart of gold is already the whole package, but then to be a killer shot in the field on top of that? Yeah, they’d be all over you like flies if you let them.”
Exia glanced at the three cocktails she’d finished and his six beers and decided, yeah, that was probably enough to get away with this. “Hey Leader, you wanna know something I really can’t do?”
“What?”
“Can’t sing for the life of me.” She smirked. “Betcha we can get them to close the karaoke booth if we go up there.”
He set his bottle down and stared her down. “You think I can’t sing?”
“Can you?”
“Oh, I can sing, Exia.” He stood up and scanned for the DJ. “There they are. I’ll go sign us up right now. ”
She laughed. “Oh, this is gonna be good.”
“It’d better be. Hey, DJ! One-Winged Angel by Sankta Surreal.”
“...No, he’s not.” Exia watched as he got up on stage. “Nope, Leader, you can’t make me-”
The Doctor took a pair of mikes and tossed one to her - a good five-meter toss. “Come on, let’s get our jam on, huh?”
“Are you seriously doing this right now?”
“Yes! I am!” As the backing track began to play, every unexpressed trace of levity sparked onto his face. “You wanted me to have fun, right? Well, I’m really gonna enjoy this!”
She glanced around the bar, a bunch of expectant faces watching them hash this out. “I’m gonna kill you for this, you know that?”
“If you do, I deserved it, now get your ass up here!”
“...Yep, once we’re done here.” Exia was already lining up the shot in her mind’s eye, “I’m plastering him against that wall.”
Which...ended up being true, sort of.
As it turned out, “can’t sing” was in comparison to Sora, and both of them could carry a tune in a bucket. The pop idol eventually came on-stage, dragging Texas behind her, to make it a full quartet performance, but the Doctor was the one who really sold it.
When it was over, Exia pulled him aside. “You know how lucky you are that you’re my boss? Because if you weren’t, I’d be introducing you to your own corpse right about now.”
“Come on, it was fun, wasn’t it?” He smiled, albeit a little glassily. “Besides, you sold yourself short.”
“...Alright, you got me there. You know what I could really use, Leader?”
The Doctor took a wild guess. “You wanna go get some pie?”
“Seriously? I mean, spot-on!” She glanced down at her jeans pocket. “Don’t have any cash on me until next paycheck, though-”
“I don’t mind buying for ya.”
Exia smiled. “Are you sure? I go through a couple tins on a good night.”
“It’s fine, trust me.” He glanced over at Sora and Texas, who were currently playing hide-and-seek with a certain white-haired Lupo. “Should we tell them?”
“Nah. I told them before I came and got you we’d probably head out early.”
The Doctor thought that was a bit odd, but didn’t ask her to explain. “Alright, then, let’s go get you that fix.”
“It’s not a drug, Leader,” she smirked. “But it’s like they say - ‘sugar, spice, and a little vice make even just desserts a sinful delight.’”
“Where do all the calories go, if you don’t mind me asking?” At this point, they’d left the bar, putting more and more distance between themselves and the raucous mid-week party.
Exia shrugged. “The halo’s gotta get its power from something, I guess. What are you trying to say?”
“I’m just impressed you can keep a figure like that with all the sugar you and the other Penguin girls eat.” The Doctor’s arms were swinging slightly with every step. “Perfect for your line of work.”
“Are you trying to make up ground for the karaoke stunt?”
He nodded. “Don’t want my favorite person here mad at me.”
“Your...favorite...person.” She stopped walking. “Leader, did you remember our conversation from earlier, or was that just luck that you said it like that?”
“No, you’re definitely the person I’d want to be in a relationship, but like you said, if I’m just gonna end up in Hell-”
Exia dashed in front of him, propelled by her wings. “You? No way that’s gonna happen to you.”
“I’m sorry, did you invite another ‘Leader’ to drinks tonight?”
“No, I invited you.” She smiled. “Stubborn, deadset, sober-grump you.”
The Doctor sighed. “Fantastic. Look, are we getting pie or-”
“Depends.” Exia hovered an inch or so off the ground, taking his hands in hers.
“...Depends?” He blinked. “Depends on what?”
She drifted closer, smiling but focused. “Depends on how sweet you turn out to be~”
“...Oh.”

APPRECIATION & INTERVIEW
Better Call Saul episode posters by Matt Talbot After 4 nearly years, I thought it was time to catch up with Matt Talbot about his Better Call Saul poster project. The last time we talked during Season 1, Matt was deep in the hustle of making his name as an illustrator: juggling a full-time job, freelance projects, as well as band. Finding time for personal projects like this one can be a significant challenge. (Not to mention surviving the death of your tools: During Season 1 his Mac laptop died, and this season, his Wacom tablet bit the bullet). But despite these challenges, the 43-year-old New Hampshire native has persevered to create a clever and thoughtful series of episode posters that has garnered considerable attention, and brought with it new high-profile clients and art exhibitions.
First, congratulations on all of your success and recognition with this series of posters. It’s well-deserved. What’s been the most gratifying feedback you’ve received? Thank you! Every interaction I’ve had with anyone from the show has delighted me. I've been surprised by all of the cast and crew members who have said nice things – every note I’ve gotten has meant a lot to me. That being said, Michael McKean randomly tweeting at me that he has my poster for Chicanery hanging in his home blew my mind. I was eating dinner when my phone showed the notification and I literally jumped up from the table. I’ve been a fan of Michael’s since I saw Spinal Tap in the ‘80s and never in a million years would I have guessed I’d make something he valued enough to hang in his home.
Tell me about your contributions to Gallery1988 exhibitions. How does that process work? It's a pretty simple process. They invite me to be part of a show, and I make something to send them. I’m very excited for the opportunity to show there, and I feel like it’s a milestone in my art-making career.
Across the 4 seasons, which BCS posters are your favorites? Which one are you most proud of? I’m particularly fond of Rebecca, Rico, Marco, Switch, Sunk Costs and Something Beautiful. Oh man, it's hard for me to evaluate my own stuff. I tend to like the posters where I find a way to get a different take on something they did in the episode. I would say that “Sunk Costs” is also one of my favorites because I did something differently than how they shot it, and because Mike is so recognizable even from the back. I was also pleased with “Off Brand” because it was when I finally figured out how to draw Bob Odenkirk.
How has your process for creating these posters evolved over 4 seasons? When I started this project I had a vague idea that I would focus on scenes rather than portraits or likenesses, but that didn’t even last half a season! The characters were too good not to include. In that way, the posters have evolved in my willingness to draw characters, and also, hopefully, my ability to draw them.
My process is now something like: Watch the show on Monday; think about it on Tuesday, figure out what stood out to me and do a thumbnail sketch or two; draw it on Wednesday night; post it Thursday afternoon. I’m a bit faster at drawing these now compared to when I started. And I’m a bit more decisive on choosing which subject matter to depict.
There have been quite a few changes on the visual side of Better Call Saul over the last 2 seasons. New directors (Minkie Spiro, Daniel Sackheim, and Andrew Stanton), a new cinematographer Marshall Adams, even new cameras. What are your thoughts on how the show’s visual grammar has evolved? Has any of this impacted your posters from Seasons 3 & 4? I try not to just redraw literal scenes from the show, and I don’t need to tell you that they shoot the show in an incredibly beautiful way. I mean, they always, always, pick the best angle, the best shot to capture something. For that reason, it’s sometimes hard to to come up with another take on a moment from the show.
That being said, the visual style hasn’t really impacted my posters as much as the evolving subject matter has. The show, I think, is substantially darker than it was in the early going. It was easier to depict Jimmy’s hi-jinx in the first couple seasons. But with Chuck’s deteriorating mental state, the cartel stuff, Mike going deeper into Fring’s world and of course, Jimmy’s loosening sense of morals, the funny moments are harder to spot. That’s lead me to some more somber layouts and color choices.
We didn’t discuss this in our first interview. Which typeface are you using in your posters, or is this custom typography? The main logo and episode titles are set in Sign Painter, from the excellent House Industries.
The Heisenverse is known for it’s color theory and use of color. How has that impacted your color choices in these posters? I’ve kind of adhered to their blue=good/red=bad symbolism, but I also try to balance out colors between episodes and not repeat myself in sequential posters.
Many of your posters (especially ones this season) use a monochromatic, or simple palette of 1-2 colors. Tell me more about why you chose that approach. Is this a signature of your style? I’ve seen this approach in a lot of your work. You know, in the early seasons, I was trying to use simpler color palettes, but I wasn’t very disciplined and I got away from that. I’m trying to stick to a more consistent style in season 4. It is a conscious decision. I also feel like with the week-to-week nature of this project, it helps quickly set apart each poster. And, I really do love limited color palettes. Giving myself color constraints helps me figure out different ways to solve layout problems.
I’ve heard other illustrators say that Bob Odenkirk’s facial features are tricky to capture. Do you share that sentiment? Which characters are more challenging to illustrate? I do agree with that. I had a really hard time with him at first. I kind of think I have a better handle on it now, but I’m always trying to get better. I feel like if you can get his mouth right, it goes a long way.
I found Hector hard to capture both times I drew him. Mike, on the other hand, is just pure fun to draw. Jonathan Banks is so distinctive and iconic.
What’s been the most difficult poster thus far? Why was it challenging? Maybe it’s because a lot of time has gone by, but I can't think of one that stands out as having been really difficult.
Francesco Francavilla did alternate posters for some of his Breaking Bad posters. Inevitably, when artists look back at their work, they consider revising or redoing it because of a variety of reasons – their point of view has changed, their skill/style has evolved, or maybe they were never truly content with the final product. Looking back at 4 seasons worth of posters, are there any that make you want to scratch the revision itch? Yeah, more than I would care to admit. I would really like another crack at Amarillo. I know I could do a better job and that drawing is just super flat. In season two, I decided to to experiment with style and I kind of wish I hadn't. I like Cobbler, but I wish I had drawn it in my normal style. I would redraw Nailed for sure. Oh man, if I start going down this road it's not going to end well, so I'll just stop.
You mentioned earlier this season you were excited to draw Track Suit Jimmy. Who or what haven’t you drawn, that you are eager to illustrate? Howard! It bums me out to no end that I haven't drawn him, but it just hasn't worked out. And I need to include Kim more. It's kind of criminal that her face only appeared for the first time in a poster this season.
What’s your opinion of Season 4? Tell me about your favorites – episode, scene, character. I think season 4 is brilliant so far. The Kim/Jimmy relationship has deepened so much this season, and feels so real, but full of inevitable heartache. Oh, the flash-forward to Breaking Bad’s timeline was amazing. Mike doing his audit in the Madrigal warehouse. Really, anything Michael Mando does on screen. It's hard to pick. I so enjoy the deliberate pace of this show.
Where’s your favorite place to discuss the show? I honestly don’t talk about it too much online, though I lurk in a few places and read a lot. I actually discuss it mostly with my wife!
I know you get this question a lot, so let’s cover it here so folks understand: Do you have plans to sell any of this work online? I really appreciate that people like it enough to want to buy it or hang it, but I don't plan to sell the Better Call Saul posters online. I’m doing this for fun, not to make a buck off the show, and I don’t own the rights to sell it anyway.
What’s next for Matt? Do you have any other poster or illustration projects in the works? Is you band performing soon? I have several more pieces for Gallery1988 shows coming up. I’m pulling together an art show at a local brewery for whom I design all of their labels and stuff. I’m patiently waiting for a t-shirt I designed for one of my all-time favorite movies to be announced. And for the past several Octobers, I spent the month drawing a horror poster per day. I’m not sure if logistically I can do that again this year, but I’ll probably fit at least a few in. We’ll see how it goes. Sadly, with all of my illustration work, I haven’t had any time for music making, but someday I hope to get back to that!

Superman & Lois: How “Fail Safe” Sets Up a Difficult Choice for Lois
https://ift.tt/3wYtFgl
This article contains Superman & Lois spoilers
Superman & Lois Episode 13
Superman & Lois has done so many things right in its first season, deftly paying homage to the classic origins of the Man of Steel even as it explores an entirely new corner of the Superman mythos, introducing intriguing comics heroes like John Henry Irons, and reinventing the story of the final days of Krypton in ways that give Clark Kent a new connection to the home he left behind.
Thankfully, Lois Lane has been given just as much emotional and narrative weight in this series’ story as her superpowered husband – juggling stories that encompass her roles as a mother, a wife, and a daughter. But despite the fact that she’s essentially the most famous journalist in the world, we haven’t actually gotten to see Lois do a ton of reporting, and her job at the local Smallville Gazette has thus far served as little more than the means that allows her to investigate Morgan Edge.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
And though the latest episode, “Fail Safe,” doesn’t show really show us our favorite star reporter in action, so to speak, it does illustrate how difficult balancing her family’s secrets and her desire to serve the truth is becoming. The hour forces her to face something of an ethical crisis, asking where she’s willing to draw the line when it comes to protecting her family and telling the truth.
Lois, of course, knows exactly what happened to all the Smallville residents who had Kryptonian consciousnesses stuffed into their bodies and precisely how Morgan Edge was responsible for it. But that’s not exactly a story she can put in the paper, not without potentially exposing multiple members of her family to very real danger.
The fact that Lois decides to be less than truthful is as understandable as it is shocking. I mean, this is Lois Lane – she’s basically the embodiment of the truth part of the whole truth, justice, and the American way thing. But when faced with uncomfortable questions about Edge and what, precisely, the Department of Defense was doing in Smallville, Lois balks, choosing to lie (poorly) about what she knows.
As a result, we not only get to see Lois genuinely struggle with what (if anything) to reveal in the press about what happened, we also see her get called on the carpet by a most unexpected person.
Smallville Gazette editor Chrissy Beppo has spent most of Superman & Lois’ first season gazing at her star reporter with heart eyes: Lois is her idol, after all, and she’s beyond thrilled that they get the chance to work together. It’s why Lois’s choice to lie stings so much.
In “Fail Safe,” Chrissy stands up to Lois for the first time, confronting her co-worker (but more importantly, her friend) about the fact that she’s not only lying, but she’s also going against the very thing she always purported to believe in most: The truth.
“I think [that] was a very scary thing for Chrissy,” actress Sofia Hasmik tells Den of Geek. “[But] I think it’s something that needed to be done.”
“Because a lot of what she does admire in Lois is this very unrelenting, very steadfast approach to journalism. Not only does she admire her as a person, [but she also] admires her integrity as a journalist.”
In Hasmik’s view, Chrissy calling out Lois’s problematic behavior is a sign of just how much she respects and cares about her.
“You learn from your idols, you know,” Hasmik says. “And you hope to not only do yourself justice but to do them justice [too]. This is what I learned from you, and this is why I’m holding my ground on this.
By standing up to Lois and standing up for the truth of the story – what a perfect way to pay homage to her idol in a weird way.”

Superman & Lois Episode 12 Ending Teases More DC Comics Villains

Diggle’s Green Lantern “Cosmic Destiny” and a Potential Superman Connection
By Nicole Hill
Much of the tension at the heart of Superman & Lois revolves around trying to keep potentially life-altering secrets in a small town that’s very existence is built on the idea of trust and community. No matter what you do in a place like Smallville, your actions will inevitably impact those around you in ways both good and ill – whether you’re a superhero, a local mom, or an intrepid journalist trying to track down a story.
Edge didn’t just brainwash a dozen innocent people and force them to do his bidding, he did so by preying on the very connections that make Smallville special. Lana, for example, was such a great choice to convince others to join his company precisely because she was so trusted by her neighbors and friends. It’s why she’s being (pretty unfairly) punished so viciously now.
So while Lois’s decision to cover for her father and the DoD certainly makes sense – it’s not like they can tell the town residents about the whole Edge actually being Superman’s half-brother trying to build a Kryptonian army thing – it’s also easy to understand why Chrissy would see it as such a personal betrayal. Who’s going to look out for Smallville if not the people that live there?
“I think [for] Lois, this particular moment with Chrissy especially, could be a reminder of what she [once] stood for. And you also see in the episode that Lois has her moments as well. She doesn’t feel good about the situation either. And it is a very in-your-face reminder of why she got into journalism.. I’m just really happy that Chrissy got to play a part in that.”
Ultimately, Lois’ realization that she’s too close to the story to report on it objectively feels like a defining moment for her – that perhaps despite her best intentions both at home and in the office, there are times where she won’t be able to balance everything and difficult choices will have to be made.
“Her entire career  [has been] coming to this sort of ethics build-up of her personal life with Clark and Superman and her father. Where do you draw the line? what stays private?” Hasmik says.
Though Superman & Lois is a superhero show, it’s also a story about the heroes present in everyday life, whether that means a community that comes together to lift up someone in need or one single woman who’s determined not to keep local journalism alive in her town, even if she has to do itall  on her own.
“I admire so much that Superman & Lois – it [says] that we all have the ability within us to choose right from wrong. And instead of succumbing to pressures or outside influences, it’s [about] really standing up for what is right,” Hasmik says. “It’s this idea of families, this idea of community, it’s what’s for the greater good and how everyone’s actions [can] influence that. I’m just so proud of the show for having those messages wrapped in every single episode.”
As for Chrissy and Lois, though the pair’s friendship is currently at a rocky place, Hasmik is looking forward to seeing their relationship develop even further as the series progresses.
“I’m obsessed with the Chrissy and Lois relationship,” she says. They’re such a duo together and I think the relationship has developed so much since we first met Chrissy and since she first met Lois. She’s been holding the Gazette down [on her own] for so long. [So] I love the fact that Lois is with her now and I can’t wait to see the development of where that goes.”

Stuck Inside Media Diary Week 2
Tumblr media
New week. New movies I had never seen before. Only one was on the DVR so now it’s just like a glorified streaming guide and for that I apologize. There were three movies this week that I had seen before, but I’ve decided, because rules are important, that I won’t re-watch a movie until I watch a new one. Does this matter? No. But it has made me realize that I might be exposing my ass in the upcoming weeks, because we all lie about saying we’ve seen some movies when we actually haven’t. Not the case for this week, but it’s impending.

Warrior, O’Conner 2011 [as of now this is available on Amazon Prime]
As a person who doesn’t really care about MMA or UFC or boxing or bum fights or bare knuckle brawls I went in under the impression that there’d probably be some kind of barrier in my way of enjoying it, despite knowing its esteemed reputation for being man-weep canon. Any movie that opens and closes with a song by The National is fairly transparent about the type of movie its going to be, despite having an extremely yolked Tom Hardy as one of the main characters. My first cry came at a very unexpected moment, especially because Frank Grillo had a significant role in making that happen (though I will say, I had no idea Frank Grillo was in this movie and about midway through I thought “man, that guy kinda looks like Grillo, but he’s kinda small and has a fashion mullet”). However, I’m a cryer, so I don’t want to set the expectation of you will cry at this you piece of shit! but you might and it’ll come out of a good place, because this movie doesn’t trick you into crying by manipulating you into it (okay, it does at one point, but it involves Moby Dick, so again, it’s kinda unexpected). It opens with “Start A War” and ends with “About Today,” a top 5 sad boy song by The National and I’ll be damned if I didn’t listen to it once a day all last week.

Working Girl, Nichols 1988 [as of now this is available on HBO]
Sometime in college, I think in a detective fiction class I took, we talked about knowing a reference to something before knowing what it’s either paying homage to or directly referencing. For example: the first time I read The Long Halloween (which is a Batman comic by Jeph Loeb) I had no idea that basically everything involving Falcone is just ripped from The Godfather, because I had never seen The Godfather at that time in my life; literally the first page of the book is “I believe in Gotham City.” Or in Django Unchained when they go to Mississippi and the title card moves across the screen just like it does in Gone With The Wind (Tarantino movies are generally just long homages and references to other things, so if you need another example, just look to really anything he’s ever worked on). There’s probably a German word for this feeling of recognition and I just don’t have the energy to look to see what it would be, but I felt it while watching Working Girl in two regards.
The first was that I didn’t realize that School Of Rock is essentially just Working Girl and when you have a realization like this, you feel kinda dumb, because you just assume everyone figured this out before you did. The second was that Joe Swanberg has tried to model his movies after Mike Nichols ones like his life depended on it and he just can’t or rather hasn’t. Also I’m not a person who was alive in the 80s and I’m sure there’s some modern day equivalent (potentially her daughter) who I defend out of some weird sense of contrarian obligation, but what’s uh, what’s going on with Melanie Griffith and her as actor?

Better Call Saul
“Slip”, “Fall”, “Lantern” [Season 3 finale]
BCS season 3 really stepped up to the heights of Breaking Bad and I think I might like it just a little bit better than it? I haven’t watched Breaking Bad in long time, I find it pretty difficult to re-watch (it’s very fire works factory for me) so I’m sure there are some BB highs that I just don’t remember fully, but that BCS can juggle being three different shows all at the same time and do it excellently really has me taken aback. It’s like watching the Coen Brothers jump from genre to genre and not be worried about the end result.

Say Anything..., Crowe 1989 [as of now this is available on Hulu]
I’m unabashedly in the can for Cameron Crowe, which is a semi-embarrassing thing to admit, but whatever. I saw Aloha in theatres and watched We Bought A Zoo when it was on FX once (in real time too, so that means with commercials-this was also the only time I’ve seen We Bought A Zoo, but I think I’d do it again); you can’t hurt me. I think I kept my distance from Say Anything... for so long, because it was one of those things that I’d be annoyed at because it’d resonate with me too much, because feeling that is kinda hacky and embarrassing, but if there’s one thing that Cameron Crowe movies put an emphasis on of importance on, it’s being sincere. And I sincerely loved it (hot, HOT take). Thanks to Russillo for recommending it on Simmons’ podcast last week.

The Graduate, Nichols 1967 [as of now this is available on Amazon Prime]
Sucks that this movie has been used by a certain type of dude who use it as a blueprint for their life and how they view relationships. Other than that, good job everyone. [I definitely thought it would be clever to watch this after watching Say Anything... because I just assumed Ben Braddock walked so Lloyd Dobbler could run-I was kinda right, whatever]
Tumblr media
Hot Rod, Schaffer 2007
While April Fools Day means nothing to me I do try to watch a comedy on the day, because...eh, why not. Hot Rod is maybe a perfect comedy and I think I could spend hours talking about it. I don’t know how there hasn’t been some kind of programming that’s been done around The Lonely Island and their catalog, because it seems very obvious.
Hot Rod with Digital Shorts played before and after and then Wayne’s World
MacGruber and you play MacGruber shorts before and after and then whatever grotesque 80′s action movie you’d want, maybe Commando
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping with Lonely Island music videos before and after and then This Is Spinal Tap
The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience sing-a-long followed by The Lonely Island pilot and  either a collection or the entirety of I Think You Should Leave
maybe this is all a lead-up to Palm Springs, a movie I have’t seen and know very little about other than they produced it and Samberg is in it

The In-Laws, Hiller 1979
I wrote it as my letterboxd. “review” , but this thing’s 1979 funny until they go to South America and then it is actually funny. Falk is just gangbusters.

You Can Count On Me, Lonergan 2000 [as of now this is available on Amazon Prime]
I say this as a very big fan of his, but! Timothée Chalamet, consider yerself on notice for borrowing heavily from the Mark Ruffalo school of acting. Also, I get it now with Laura Linney, who I’ve liked before, but thought she might kind of be overrated by some people. Also, Matthew Broderick made this after Election (and also Inspector Gadget), so quite the infidelity streak for Brody, probably not a double feature.

De Palma, Baumbach & Paltrow, 2015 [as of now this is available on Netflix]
The definitive documentaries for the directors of this friend group are basically perfect in their own ways. That this is just De Palma talking about himself and his career and movies, sometimes being incredibly critical of his own work and others. He seems pretty self-aware, probably the most of that group of directors, while still coming across as incredibly cocky. De Palma is perfect for Brian De Palma. However, if anyone wanted to make a 10 hour documentary on Scorsese, Spielberg, Coppola, De Palma and Lucas in this style or it’s just the 5 of them interviewing each other moderated by like Fincher or someone, man....I could really go for that. (I mean if Michael Jordan can get one, why not these guys?)
Tumblr media
The Other Director Documentaries
Spielberg, 2017 (HBO) [Interviews and retrospectives about Spielberg’s career, with personal highlights. It’s essentially Spielberg in a nutshell: big, flashy with a lot of time on particular moments that are more important to him than they are to you]
Empire Of Dreams, 2004 (Disney+) [Ostensively this is about Star Wars, and it’s made by a company-man, it says so much about Lucas, a man who hated how institutions told him what he could do so he unintentionally created one that has copied what he hates]
Heart Of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse, 1991 [A truly wild ride, tells you everything you need to know about Coppola]
Italianamerican, 1974 [While a new documentary about Scorsese is probably what I covet most, he’s a pretty open book about his controversies and he’d probably enjoy talking about other people’s work more than his own-catholicism’s a helluva thing]
Tumblr media
The Godfather Pt. I & The Godfather Pt. II, Coppola 1972 & 1974
I don’t know if I necessarily endorse watching both of these back-to-back; I guess I’m glad I did it, even if the motivation was mainly to just see if I could. Obviously these movies are important and good and are about so much more than just gangsters and thugs, but a lot of the time it just feels like eating vegetables for me. I did not grow up in a household that emphasized the importance of The Godfather so maybe that’s part of it, but I’m definitely not as dismissive of these as I used to be (though part of that could be the mental Stockholm Syndrome Bill Simmons, Chris Ryan and Sean Fennessey have given me). Once I finished Pt. I, I felt like I could re-watch it; once I finished Pt. II I felt like my eyes were melting out of my head and onto my hands (this could be because I had just watched 377 minutes of a story). I will probably never do it again, unless it’s the weekend after Christmas and AMC is just going for it-at least then I’ll have intermissions every 20 or so minutes telling me to go shop at Target.

Dreams and Visions (35/51): Modern Tales
Time Period: BBC
Chapter Summary:  Some modern headcanons, since I finally FINISHED THEM OMIGOSH MYSTRADE WHY YOU SO ANNOYING. A couple NSFW
Read it on AO3
Johnlock
John has terrible memories of being alone in a hospital, and refuses to let Sherlock be in them by himself. Sherlock thinks visiting hours are dull. They generally end up sleeping on a cot because the nurses give up.
(NSFW): When they do start having sex, Sherlock mistakenly thinks that they are supposed to be having sex every night[1]. John agrees (though he doesn’t need it that often at all). They make it just over a week before they’re both too exhausted and cranky to cuddle, let alone have sex. The misunderstanding is eventually resolved, they both laugh about it and from then on they make love only when they both want to. There’s plenty of other things to do, after all.
Sherlock still rants about it sometimes.
Even before they got together John was determined to find Sherlock a book that he would enjoy and not toss away. He started reading his favourite books aloud, with varying amounts of response from Sherlock. John almost gave up until he awoke from a two-day coma to Sherlock’s deep, shaky voice reading The Hobbit. Tolkien, in all his triumphs and shortcomings (Sherlock has fought people over Samwise Gamgee) becomes one of their favourite entertainment sources: their first anniversary they watched the entirety of the Extended Editions. The quotes on their wedding rings are from Sam’s speech.
They never go to bed angry. They’re both too scared of waking up to an empty bed.
John
John discovered he was bi because of a boy named Victor Trevor. He never shares the story with Sherlock, or he would know that Sherlock solved his murder.
Two years after his marriage, John receives a call from his sister. Harry calls from a rehab clinic and shares some stories about their childhood that John was too young to remember, stories that make some of her behaviour make more sense. It’s not an excuse, and it’s a long road to reconciliation, but the Watsons do, eventually, start to feel like siblings.
On their marriage certificate, it shows that John changed his name to John Hamish Watson Holmes. He keeps his own name for professional reasons, but Sherlock calls him ‘Mr. Holmes’ as often as he can.
John has been keeping an album since just after he moved into 221B. When he has a quiet day, he looks through it, remembering that all the people in it are family, and he marvels at how lucky he's become.
Sherlock
Sherlock first sees the term demisexual in the fanfiction bookmarks of a kidnapping victim[2]. He deletes the definition. Then he meets John, and suddenly that word explains everything.
Sherlock doesn’t truly approve of Mycroft and Greg’s relationship, but that’s mainly because he now has to share both of his favourite people that are not John or Mrs. Hudson. It’s a minor comfort that he’s sharing them with each other.
Sherlock stopped taking drugs after he and John started dating. He didn’t need them anymore; there was plenty of rush from being in love.
Sherlock keeps his wedding ring almost obsessively clean. He’s delighted to realize that John does the same.
Mystrade
The reactions to John and Sherlock’s relationship were as varied as they were passionate. When people found out about Mycroft and Greg, on the other hand, there were only two. It was either “didn’t know you were gay,” or “you two match”.
A relationship between two workaholic, emotionally mellow men doesn’t sound like it will last. As a matter of fact, Greg actually begins planning to retire on time, and Mycroft learns to be romantic.
There were occasional threats to Greg because of Mycroft’s work. Mycroft always ensured that anyone making such threats had to apologize to Greg personally before they were…dealt with.
Greg’s ex-wife finds herself in constant financial troubles and her hairdressers keep ignoring her directions. Greg finds this quite sweet…and a little alarming.
Greg
Greg has always tried to go with the flow (which is why he can handle Sherlock so well). So when Mycroft asked him if their regular coffee could perhaps be held at a more romantic location, he didn’t panic or even ask if he was sure. He could learn to love Mycroft. What he learned instead was that he already did.
It takes a lot of smarts to be a Detective Inspector. What takes more is being married to a Holmes, and learning when a case file is an apology and a request to close the curtains is a hint to go to bed. He learns.
Greg loves music and poetry, but he’s utterly rubbish at writing his own. He can, however, appreciate Mycroft’s attempts fully.
Greg’s never been too keen on sex (that was part of his troubles with his ex-wife). To his relief, Mycroft isn’t either. When they do sleep together, it’s passionate and loving and everything it’s supposed to be…but honestly, one time can hold them for months.
Mycroft
Mycroft loves labels; he organizes, he files, it’s what he does. On the other hand, he refuses to find a label for his own orientation. He doesn’t like the idea of filing a part of himself away—he likes the idea of analyzing how he feels about Greg even less.
When Mycroft starts trying to exercise, it’s not to impress Greg. It’s to give them a few more years together.
In a moment of sentimentality, Mycroft buys Greg a sculpture of a goldfish. Greg doesn’t get it until Sherlock explains.
Mycroft is secretly delighted by his desk job, not the least because it means he can wear his wedding ring without worrying about losing it.
Real Office Romance (Molly/Mike)
Mike and Molly become the hottest topic of discussion at St. Bart’s. It changes to ‘ohmigod did you see Sherlock Holmes punch out that bloke for saying Molly settled?’
Mike never imagined that someone like Molly could love someone like him—ordinary, steady, sweet and far too fond of football. Molly doesn’t understand how it took her so long to realize she wanted him.
Lily and Jacob are their only blood children, but when the twins are eight they decide to become foster parents. Sherlock and Kitty find children among the Homeless Network, and a little bureaucratic meddling means their house is full of kids for years. Mike retires to become a stay-at-home father.
Mike is insanely proud of Molly. Molly is insanely proud of Mike. When they get drunk, they try to outdo each other with praise.
Molly
Molly enjoys being a mother, and she enjoys her job. She juggles both efficiently, and both her work and her children are fully aware that she loves them equally.
Before her mother dies, Molly gets up the courage to ask her about how her father died. She’s not at all surprised to hear her mother made a desperate attempt to protect her. She’s just surprised that the police let them go.
Molly continues to sneak Sherlock into the morgue. Her bosses pretend they don’t know what she’s doing.
Molly never liked Jim Moriarty. She used him entirely to make Sherlock jealous.
Mike
Mike had resigned himself to a single life well before he introduced John to Sherlock. He just didn’t see why anyone would put up with him.
Despite his joke to John, Mike loves to teach, and he’ll often borrow John’s case stories to illustrate different aspects of medicine. He had Sherlock in as a guest speaker once. Once.
Mike proposed to Molly in the middle of the night, when he woke up from a dream that involved licorice, pink elephants and a rather large tuba. To this day they can’t figure it out, but those all made their way into their wedding favours.
Mike never thought he’d be a good dad. His seventeen children, two blood and fifteen adopted, say otherwise.
Mrs. Hudson
Mrs. Hudson was well aware that Sherlock and John wanted two bedrooms when they first moved in. She was also well aware that they wouldn’t need them long.
Martha Sissons was very much in love with her husband, and even though she disapproved of the cartel she would have stood by him. It was only when she caught Frank with another woman, and found out about the rest of them, that she wished she’d listened to her best friend.
Despite her own experiences, Mrs. Hudson enjoys attending weddings. So far her favourite has been Mike and Molly’s, though Kitty and Stan’s was wildly fun.
Mrs. Hudson considers herself the matriarch of her Baker Street Clan. Mrs. Holmes has no objection.
Moriarty
Jim Moriarty wasn’t on Carl Powers’ swim team. He was, however, on the chess team that went up the same week.
Jim never let himself love Sebastian Moran. Why love something you knew you had to throw away, no matter how loyal?
Jim was not in love with Sherlock Holmes. But he wanted him.
Jim is a psychopath. He’s been off the charts of every test. Sometimes, just for fun, he’ll try to get a normal person’s answers. He’s only managed it once.
[1] I thought this was true when I was younger, and I was utterly horrified by the idea.
[2] Demisexuality, for those who are unfamiliar, is an orientation where you are not attracted to anyone without first having an emotional connection. I identify as demi, and I found the definition in a fanfic. It’s called ‘Bedtime for 221B’ by akisura12 on fanfiction.net; the chapter in question is chapter 5, ‘Asexual’, if anyone’s interested.

Not even down to my shoulders yet but given where I started when I made this decision it’s not surprising

52. Hair dyed in different color: I considered getting a royal blue streak in my hair a couple years ago but ultimately decided that was a terrible idea.
53. Sport: Like I have the energy for that. 55. Vacation: Farthest I’ve ever been from home longitude-wise was Niagra Falls, farthest I’ve been from home latitude-wise was San Diego 56. Lips or eyes: You can see so much more about someone in their eyes rather than in their lips 67. Shorter or taller: T-taller 68. Older or younger: As long as the age difference isn’t anything substantial, I don’t really care. 70. Nice arms or nice stomach: Why not both? I like my women a bit toned. 71. Sensitive or loud: Sensitive because I’m horribly prone to auditory overstimulation. 72. Hook up or relationship: A relationship is much better if you ask me 73. Had your heart broken: Still trying to fix it... 81. Been arrested: Unlike my brothers when they were my age, I am quite well-behaved. 82. Cried when someone died: The only person I can think of off the top of my head that I’m close to that died was my Grandfather Dwight but he died before I turned 2 so I’m going to venture a guess and say “no” 83. Fallen for a friend: Yes, I have, and I fell hard. DO YOU BELIEVE IN: 84. Yourself: Most of the time, yeah 85. Miracles: Despite the fact that most people would call the fact that I’m still alive a “modern day miracle” I absolutely do not. 86. Love at first sight: In some sense, I feel like you can feel an intense attraction to someone at first sight without it being sexual attraction, but I wouldn’t go as far as to call that “love” 87. Santa Claus: No, I do not. 88. Kiss on the first date: Depends entirely on the situation.
OTHER: 90. Current best friend name: Nick 91. Eye color: It varies between really dark brown and a dark amber-ish color depending on the light 92. Favorite movie: Finding Nemo

Alejandro headcanon :)
Okay, so this is a Alejandro headcanon regarding his mental health. So me and my girlfriend were just talking about my fav. ( Alejandro :) ) And we both came to the conclusion that he is a psychopath. Like textbook definition. From what we know at least ( because it doesn't tell us much about his past other than his older brother being abusive towards him) he has most ( if not all ) the symptoms But the ones I want to focus on right now are the symptoms we can see just by watching the show: inflated self-worth, lying pathologically, lack of empathy, promiscuous behaviour, being manipulative, poor control of anger or annoyance, trouble keeping long term relationships. Etc. But the one thing I find most interesting is a troubled childhood. It's hinted that Alejandro was a troubled kid. ( I can't remember the exact episode I'm sorry ) But Alejandro stated that he learned how to juggle at " cirque du mondes " well I looked it up and the website states "Cirque du Monde is a social circus program created by Cirque du Soleil and Jeunesse du Monde, which targets at-risk youth. It combines circus techniques together with educational social intervention to help young people." Which I just find interesting because psychopaths usually ARE troubled youth. I mean Alejandro being a psychopath isn't that far fetched considering mike has DID, Chris has a personality disorder ( most likely narcissism ) and Trent has OCD. ☺️

Why I’m Signing Off the Podcast I’ve Done for 13 Years
Thirteen years ago this week, in 2005, I sat down in a recording studio in front of a fancy boom microphone, donned a bulky pair of Sony headphones, and waited for the cue. Then I was connected to my new cohost, Newport Beach, Calif., lawyer J. Craig Williams, and recording the first episode of our new podcast. Little did I imagine we’d still be doing it all these years later, making it the longest continually running podcast in law and one of the longest running of any kind.
Last night, after 586 episodes (by my count) of that podcast, I recorded my final one, even as I launch a whole-new podcast of my own, LawNext.
We originally called the show Coast2Coast – both for our west coast/east coast split and for our divergent political perspectives – but later, due to the little matter of a cease-and-desist letter from the eponymous paranormal radio show, we changed it to Lawyer2Lawyer. (Hey, at least we were getting noticed.) Our first show was posted on Aug. 31, 2005. Our guests for that first show were Mike Greco, who had just taken office as president of the American Bar Association, and Erwin Chemerinsky, then a professor at Duke Law School and now dean of the University of California, Berkeley, law school.
The idea for the show had come from two Boston-area veterans of broadcast news, Lu Ann Reeb, a former TV news director and producer, and Scott Hess, a news photographer. They had founded the Legal Talk Network to record video and audio interviews with legal professionals and proposed that Craig and I – who both then blogged for the now-defunct Law.com Blog Network – team up to host a weekly podcast about current legal events and news.
Podcasts by lawyers were rare then. Among them were Denise Howell’s Bag and Baggage (the predecessor to Howell’s This Week in Law), Evan Schaeffer’s Legal Underground, Evan Brown’s InternetCases, and rethink(ip). But, as I recounted in a 2015 post, podcasting by lawyers took off between 2005 and 2007, only to hit a spell of inertia around 2007. (We interviewed some of these “pioneers of legal podcasting’ in a 2010 show.)
My favorite episode was recorded in a Denver brewery.
I kept at it for one simple reason: It was fun. I never made a penny from podcasting. But every week (and later every second week) I got to have interesting conversations with fascinating people about issues and events that were at the forefront of the news. The Supreme Court. School shootings. Terrorism. Animal rights. Privacy. Weed. Sports law. Better Call Saul. Gender rights. Immigration. Uber. Revenge porn. Lawyer depression. The billable hour. It’s hard to come up with a topic we didn’t cover. Probably my favorite show was about open source software and beer — not for the topic so much as for the fun of recording it onsite in a Denver brewery.
And the guests. From Bryan Garner to Boups the Beerman. From consumer advocate Erin Brockovich to tobacco whistleblower Jeffrey Wigand. From Making A Murderer lawyer Dean Strang to Joseph Salvati, a man who spent 30 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. Former 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Alex Kozinski was on our show at least four times before he retired amid allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct.
In one show alone, we had four legendary trial lawyers: Mike Papantonio, Howard Nations, Thomas Girardi and Fred Levin. Another legendary trial lawyer, F. Lee Bailey, was on our show three times (on cross-exam, Whitey Bulger, and Roger Clemens). Still another trial-lawyer legend, Gerry Spence, pronounced on our show, “Lawyers disappoint me.” Five of the top Supreme Court reporters appeared on our show: Marcia Coyle, Lyle Denniston, Amy Howe, Tony Mauro, and David Savage. We even had a lawyer who, at 101, was still practicing law. I could go on and on and on.
Possibly the only time Craig and I recorded in the same room together.
In 2013, the Legal Talk Network changed hands, sold to legal marketing and software company Lawgical. CEO Adam Camras, CTO Trent Carlyle, Executive Producer Laurence Colletti, and the rest of the top-notch Lawgical team have continued to expand the network with new shows and industry alliances. They even talked me into picking up cohosting duties on a second show, Law Technology Now, with my good friend Monica Bay (which I am also now leaving).
The anchor, the keel, the workhorse, the rock of our show over the years has been Kate Nutting. She came on board as our producer just months after we started, and she remains our producer today. She makes sure we have top-notch guests, juggles everyone’s availability to scheduling recordings, researches each topic and prepares discussion points, and generally holds it all together. Without Kate, this show would never have survived this long or achieved the quality it did.
By now you’re probably thinking, “OK, Bob, if it was all so good, why are you leaving?”
The short answer is: To start my own podcast, LawNext. And why did I want to do that? Several reasons:
My interests evolved. My greatest interest these days is innovation in law, law practice and legal technology. My new show is laser focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.
There are only so many hours. Time would not allow me to both start my new podcast and keep doing the old one.
I wanted to be nimbler. If news breaks today, I want to be able to record a podcast this afternoon or tomorrow morning and have it posted within a day.
I wanted to be more hands-on. The Legal Talk Network people are great – so great, in fact, that they do all the work. I wanted to get my hands dirty, to get a better feel for the production and marketing, in addition to the recording.
I wanted to make some money. After 13 years of podcasting pro bono, I wanted to see if I could make a little money from it, selling advertising and sponsorships.
I wanted to own it. I’m really not sure who owns Lawyer 2 Lawyer. But it had long ago slipped away from feeling like something I had ownership of. With LawNext, I have something I can take ownership of.
I wanted to work with my son. Perhaps the best part of my new podcast is that I’m working with my son, Ben Ambrogi, who is my producer and engineer.
Even after 13 years as a podcaster, this new podcast is very much a learning experience. We’ve had to test any number of recording applications, research hosting sites, and figure out the best equipment. And even then, we’ve had glitches I’d rather not discuss. But we learn from each mistake, and we’ll get better over time.
But most of all, it’s fun. With each new episode, we watch the stats to see how many listens we’ll get. It’s a bit addicting, and there’s certainly a rush when the downloads spike. The Legal Talk Network folks say Lawyer2Lawyer was their most downloaded show. It will be a long time, I suspect, before I get this new show to those numbers. But I’m committed to trying.
I can’t sign off the Legal Talk Network without expressing my deep and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been part of that over the years. I thank Lu Ann Reeb and Scott Hess for getting me into this in the first place and for remaining good friends over the years. I’ve already said my thanks to Kate Nutting. I thank Adam Camras for convincing me to stay aboard after he bought the company. And no praise is enough for Laurence Colletti, a tireless and talented lawyer-turned-producer who makes LTN run day in and out.
And there’s Craig Williams, my partner in podcasting. Surprisingly, I’d never met Craig before we started the show and have met him in person only a couple times since. But I can’t imagine having been paired for 13 years with a better cohost.
Although our starting premise was that we came from different political persuasions, we agreed far more than we ever disagreed. As in any long-term relationship, there were times when he irritated me – injecting a question that seemed to throw the discussion off kilter or taking the conversation in a direction away from where I wanted it to go. But that unpredictability was a big part of what made the two-host format work. While I came at it with the background of a journalist, he was ever the trial lawyer, insightfully challenging and prodding. Over time, the 3,000 miles between us disappeared and our styles somehow synchronized.
Both Lawyer2Lawyer and Law Technology Now will continue on quite ably without me. Meanwhile, I look forward to this new chapter in my own podcasting life. I hope some of you who followed my former shows will continue to follow me at LawNext.

31, 2005. Our guests for that first show were Mike Greco, who had just taken office as president of the American Bar Association, and Erwin Chemerinsky, then a professor at Duke Law School and now dean of the University of California, Irvine, School of Law.
