Wtf I drew one of my ocs… she’s a princess in Meroë but the QUEEN of mixing metals🤩the two snakes in her tiara are a reference to the double uraeus (cobras🐍❤️) as a motif of power, especially for Nubian royalty, and Heracles knot based on the prevailing interest in Greek art and aesthetics at the time
Sketch below the cut

I also put some process pics on my twitter if you’re interested!

Painting I made of an Egyptian (Nubian) archer during the Bronze Age.
The Nubians at the time, and for centuries afterwards had the deadliest archers in the world, becoming an elite mercenary group for the Pharaoh.

The 'forgotten' pyramids of Sudan
More than 200km (124 miles) from the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, the remains of an ancient city stand in the desert.
The Nubian pyramids in Meroe are smaller than the more famous ones in Egypt but there are many more of them. https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-africa-38994176

I wonder if people who are fascinated with Emperor Nero know this.
It's a non-militant expedition.

I’ve been inspired to share my “Nubian Lion Piller”. I forgot his/it’s actual name but he seems polite.
Edit: may be Apedemak, but don’t quote me on that.
