i saw this post and this happened:

obikin au where they're not jedis, they're top gun pilots.

qui-gon and obi-wan were a team, but most importantly, friends. the kind of friends that know each other families (obi-wan is engaged to satine, qui-gon is married to shmi and they have anakin) and think of each other as family as well. everything is great until one day, during a training exercise, the plane malfunctions and qui-gon unfortunately passes away.

obi-wan believes it's his fault (even though the board [aka the council] had cleared him of any wrongdoing), and, out of a sense of responsability and what's right, decides to devote his life to anakin's well-being. shmi tells him is not necessary, that she can manage without qui-gon, but obi-wan has made up his mind and he's stubborn; he will be there for anakin like qui-gon should've.

at first, satine is supportive, she understands her fiancé's sense of responsability and the love he had for his mentor... until it starts taking over everything in his life ("i'm sorry satine, i'm gonna have to cancel dinner with your parents." "why?" "anakin is having his first school dance and i'm chaperoning." "shmi? oh, shmi will take pictures").

she gives him an ultimatum and obi-wan chooses anakin (his "duty") and she breaks up with him. obi-wan is heartbroken, they were high school sweethearts and obi-wan is in his mid 20s, but taking care of ani makes the heartache lessen.

time passes and obi-wan is now an intrinsic part of the skywalker household. he's anakin's father, brother, best friend, mentor. anakin has decided to follow into his father's footsteps and join the navy (in truth he wants to be closer to obi-wan away from shmi's eyes) and shmi and obi-wan are 'supportive' (shmi more than obi-wan).

he wants to be happy for the boy, truly, anakin's happiness is his own happiness. but the idea of losing anakin like he lost qui-gon makes him freeze and think of any way to keep it from happening. he makes an impulsive decision and asks his admiral to drop anakin's application so anakin has 4 more years to make a decision.

when anakin finds out, he's heartbroken. all he's ever wanted is to be with obi-wan and to see that obi-wan would go out of his way to keep anakin away from him now that 'it's not his responsibility' (anakin has just turned 18), decides to devote the next 4 years of his life to make sure the navy doesn't reject him again.

many years pass with no contact between them (obi-wan is devastated at anakin's anger but knows in his heart it was the right thing to do) and obi-wan has led a lonely life. he still calls shmi and lets her know he's okay, but he's too scared to ask about anakin, to know how he is (is he still angry at obi-wan? does he hate him?).

obi-wan is called to base, where he's asigned the mission to rescue and protect the daughter of an ambassador in hostile territory (palpatine's the president there). he's to have a wingman, something he hasn't had since qui-gon's death, and is to work together with them in order for the mission to be successful.

obi-wan is surpirsed to see anakin is to be his wingman, the little boy is no more and now it's a man in front of him, but the younger man rebuffs any friendly advance obi-wan extends towards him. he's rough, angry and borderline rude whenever obi-wan talks to him, but obi-wan doesn't mind because until that moment, he hadn't realised how much he had missed anakin in his life.

however, the days leading towards the mission ease a little of the tension between them because, for better or for worse, anakin has missed obi-wan so much. he's still angry and hurt, but the older man (still the man of his dreams) remains good and kind hearted despite the awful things anakin throws his way.

the mission is a success (despite everything, obi-wan and anakin had always worked well together, always anticipating each other moves; time hasn't changed that at all) and on their way home (on a stolen bigger aircraft) the ambassador's daughter cannot stop flirting with anakin, much to obi-wan's dismay. but is when she places a hand on anakin's forearm and the younger man doesn't brush her off that obi-wan realises he's jealous.

he wishes anakin would stand his touch for more than a few seconds instead of recoiling from it, flinching when all obi-wan wants is to make sure anakin is next to him, alive. he's jealous of the way anakin smiles at her, without disdain or resentment in his eyes.

he's jealous of a girl younger than his military career, and obi-wan can't stand it. because he just understood that, in the few days they had between their reunion and their mission, he fell in love with anakin.

but anakin could never be his.

Q: What is a bingo? How many prompts will the cards have? How big will they be?

A: A bingo is a fandom challenge, in which participants are given a card (they can be 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 grids) filled with prompts meant to inspire a person to create more works!

For this particular bingo, our bingo cards will be 5x5, which means you will receive 24 prompts, as well as a free space – which means you can fill it with whatever you wish too, as long as it was not already used for a prompt on your card. These are meant to inspire those to create more works about Obikin (Obi-wan Kenobi x Anakin Skywalker), in either a romantic or platonic nature!

Q: How would I receive my bingo card?

A: Either by Twitter, Tumblr, Email or Discord! You’ll get to pick how you feel most comfortable receiving your bingo card. If by email, it will be emailed to you; If by Twitter, Discord or Tumblr, it will be DM’d to you. A link to the rules and schedule will also be sent a long.

Please be sure that you’ve given the correct full username, so it’s easy for the Mods to send it to you.

Q: What’s the bingo’s schedule going to be?

A: This is the schedule:

Sign-ups will open August 31, 2022.

Cards will start going out September 5, 2022.

Once you receive your card, you may begin creating and posting when you like!

Sign-ups for this bingo will close October 1, 2023.

This round of our Obikin Bingo will end December 1, 2023.

** This is our first bingo round and to give everyone as much time as possible to work on their cards, so this will be an extended round. Which roughly will give people a little less than a year and a half to work on their cards.

**** Please note though this round is a long one, that does not all mean future rounds will be so as well!

Q: How long should I expect to wait to receive my bingo card?

A: A few days at the very least, with a week at most. If you sign up and have not received your bingo card within eight days, then please send a polite message to inquire about it; chances are the Mods are simply a bit busy with offline life or for some reason your signup did not go through.

Q: How do I ensure I'm getting prompts I want/am comfortable creating for?

A: Great question! To ensure that your card is catered to your exact wants/comfort, you will pick the prompts you want on your board! A master list of the potential prompts for the bingo will be going out shortly before sign ups go live (soon!), so you will have plenty of time to decide which prompts you want for your board!

Which leads us into why there will not be any square changes allowed for this round of our bingo, since you'll already be requesting specific prompts you’ve chosen, and approved of for yourself, for your bingo board.

Q: What counts as a bingo? How can I achieve a bingo?

A: To achieve a bingo, you simply need to meet these requirements:

A line (5x5) that is either vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. Also getting the four corners and free space, will count as a bingo!

Q: What requirements are needed to fill a prompt?

A: Ensuring that your square’s prompt is featured within your creation, and meeting these minimum requirements:

Fic/Meta - 100 word minimum.

Podfic - 1 minute and 30 seconds minimum.

Moodboard/Gifset - 3 images minimum.

Graphics/Edits - 1 image minimum.

Art - size 2x2 inch if physical, 200x200 if digital; clean sketch minimum.

Fanvid - 20 seconds minimum.

Animated Short - 20 frame minimum.

Comic/Visual Novel - 3 panel minimum.

Rec List - 6 recommendations minimum.

Playlist - 6 recommendations minimum.

Q: There's a lot of amazing prompts, but is there a way we could send in suggestions for the bingo?

A: Yes! Here is a link to a google form where you can send in suggestions for us to add to our ever growing and expanding list of prompts for our bingo!

Q: What counts as a blackout?

A: Filling every square on your card! You do not need to do this, of course, but could be a fun challenge for you to try and do!

Q: Can we use a fill for another event as well (another bingo for example)?

A: As long as the other event is okay with it, then you can absolutely go ahead! Just make sure you hit our minimum requirements for filling a bingo.

Q: What do we need to do to request a new card?

A: You either need to have two completed bingos or blackout your card completely before asking for a brand new card.

Q: What happens when we’ve hit the two bingos/blacked out our bingo card? How do we get a new one?

A: You simply fill out the form once again, picking the prompts you’d like on your new card and give the Mod a week or so to make you a brand new one!

Q: Can we write our fic’s in a non-narrative format? For example, could we write it as if it’s a magazine article, meta, ship manifestos, a text chain, Instagram/Twitter, etc. posts?

A: Absolutely! Let your creativity soar! All you would need to do is ensure the minimum requirements are being met, otherwise, absolutely go wild with how you’d like to do your fills!

Q: Can I repost an old work/art/creation and have it count for a square/prompt fill?

A: No, all works must be newly created to count towards a fill. If it’s already a completed work/art/edit that you’ve already posted, those will not count. If it’s something you’ve been working on but have posted nowhere till now, that counts.

Q: Can I include other characters in my work? Like in a threesome or something else?

A: As long as the relationship of Anakin and Obi-Wan is integral to the work, yes! Anakin and Obi-Wan should interact with one another or be thinking/talking about the other if one of them happens to be separate from the other for the entire timeline of the work.

Q: Is there a collection I can post my work to?

A: Yes! There is a collection on Ao3, which can be found here, that will be opened to posting once cards are being sent out to those who have signed up for this!

*** Edit: We are aware that there is an issue if you try to add a work to the collection. If you type ‘ oeb_round1‘ into your draft on Ao3, where it asks about adding it to a collection -nothing will drop down- and hit post (only once you’re ready!) your work will be added to the collection!

Q: How exactly does posting work for the bingo?

A: As soon as you receive your card, you can begin posting! It’s whenever you feel you’re ready to share your creation.

Q: I know other bingo events require master posts to be made once the round is done, will you be doing that?

A: No, we won’t be requiring a master post to be done up of all the squares you marked off your board. Though if you do make a master post, we will happily reblog it!

Q: Can my stories be a part of a series that's already published?

A: As long as what you’re adding to an already established series, then yes you are allowed to do that! Also if you are adding to a WIP, just be sure it’s a new chapter and that the prompt is mentioned with the chapter.

Q: Can I make art inspired by a story of mine that's already published if it fits a square prompt?

A: As long as it's a new, unpublished piece of art, then yes that would be okay! Our main objective for this is to create new creations, not reuse ones that are already out in the world.

Q: Are we allowed to combine our bingo prompts?

A: Absolutely! You can combine as many of your prompts as you’d like to but please know only one will count as having been filled for our bingo.

Q: Does my work have to be romantic in nature?

A: No! You can absolutely write about platonic Anakin & Obi-wan.

Q: How can I ensure my fill gets reblogged?

A: You can use the tag #obikinbingo23 or @ the blog here or on Twitter, depending where you post your creations. You can also submit a link on the Discord, DM or @ for Twitter, so we can share your creation!

absolutely! i am a reincarnated patrochilles obikin truther.

it's super fascinating and easy to see why this is a popular parallel for those that ship obi-wan and anakin because like obikin, patroclus and achilles have the same brother-in-arms mentor/student-esque dynamic. not to mention they have a ton of speculation about the nature of their relationship, which i find quite funny when thinking about an encounter between obi-wan’s ex lover taria (?) when speaking to anakin, which you can find here. keep in mind this is right around this particular exchange.

patroclus/achilles are a good example of greek pederasty and erastes/ eromenos, and to some, obi-wan and anakin’s dynamic can fit into that relationship as well. this sort of shapes my perception of them VERY much.

i also made a post here that draws some parallels from a popular retelling of patrochilles by madeline miller that i enjoyed, but you may find similar quotes throughout the illiad that i think wonderfully parallel quotes about obikin in karen miller and stover’s novels. i'd like to list a few for you!

"Patroclus has fallen - he whom I valued more than all others, and love as dearly as my own life? I have lost him." and here’s another translation of the same quote: “My dear comrade’s dead - Patroclus - the man I loved beyond all other comrades, loved as my own life - I’ve lost him.”

i love the above quote compared to this:

“Son of Menoetius, my heart’s companion.“

there are a few quotes that i like to pair with this, but i think i prefer this one: “Anakin.” Obi-Wan’s voice had gone soft, and his hand was warm on Anakin’s arm. “There is no other Jedi I would rather have at my side right now. No other man.”

and finally:

“A last request - grant it, please. Never bury my bones apart from yours, Achilles, let them lie together…So now let a single urn, the gold two-handed urn your noble mother gave you, hold our bones - together.” (cough: obi-wan burying he and anakin’s sabers - their figurative LIVES, mind you - together in kenobi)

and of course, this quote to pair: Contemplation of death brought only one slight sting of regret, and more than a bit of puzzlement. Until this very moment, he had never realized he’d always expected, for no discernible reason— That when he died, Anakin would be with him.”

A/N: Will make its way to AO3 at some point. Based on a fic I wrote long ago for another pairing.

Summary: Oh dear, Anakin and Obi-Wan have crash landed on an exotic planet that turns out to be an exclusive resort for honeymooning couples, and no one seems prepared to let them leave...

His face was warm. A gentle breeze caressed his skin. The air was balmy, with the faint scent of flowers. It reminded him of Varykino, and long, sunny days by the lake at Padmé’s house. But something wasn’t right. His throat was dry. His head hurt. And he couldn’t remember why he was here.

“Welcome to the paradise of Rangani,” an automated voice said.

Anakin opened his eyes.

“Please, follow me.”

He sat up suddenly, hand instinctively moving to his lightsaber hilt.

But he sensed no threat. A small silver droid waited beside him.

“Please, follow me,” the droid repeated, turning and beginning to trundle away.

Anakin shielded his eyes against the sun and took in his surroundings. He was sitting on sand, but it was not the coarse, yellow sand of Tatooine. This sand was fine and white. To his right, sunlight glinted off the little droid as it made its way along a narrow strip of beach between turquoise ocean and verdant green vegetation. Shrugging to no-one in particular, Anakin got to his feet.

He followed the track the droid’s single wheel had made in the sand. What was he doing here? His leggings were torn at the knee, his skin felt dry and salty, and his hair was matted. Had he been in the sea? Had they crash landed? And if so, where was-

Just then, he heard a voice in the distance. A small thatched-roof hut lay immediately ahead. The droid disappeared inside.

“…I can assure you that you are mistaken,” the familiar voice said. “How many times do you need me to tell you? I am a Jedi Master. My ship got into trouble and somehow we ended up here. Now will you please let me use your com facility so I can contact the Jedi Temple. And then I will need to find my companion.”

Then, Anakin remembered. Their ship suffering power failure on Metellos. The tip from Padmé about a route she’d used to limp back to Coruscant without a hyperdrive. Then more engine trouble. Alarms shrieking. An emergency landing. Blackness. Then waking up here.

“Nice day for a crash landing,” Anakin said, stepping inside.

Obi-Wan’s expression was pure relief. “Anakin. Are you all right?”

“Bump on the head but otherwise fine. How’s the ship?”

Obi-Wan looked uncomfortable. “It’s at the bottom of the ocean, I’m afraid.”

“Fantastic. I knew you should have let me land.”

“There was hardly time-”

“Excuse, me, gentlemen,” interrupted a voice, and only then did Anakin notice the man behind the counter.

Short and dressed in a fancy black suit with a white under-tunic, his plump face was flushed pink, his bald head was beaded with perspiration.

He bowed towards Anakin and spoke in an accent he didn’t recognise. “Good afternoon, Sir. Thank you for joining us. My name is Gabbo and I have the pleasure of wishing you a very warm welcome to Rangani, the Galaxy’s first and only artificially engineered paradise. And what occasion are we celebrating today? Let me guess. You are newly-weds, no?”

Anakin huffed a laugh. He looked from Gaboo to Obi-Wan. “What’s going on?”

“I wish I knew,” Obi-Wan muttered.

Gabbo dipped below the counter and reappeared holding a small basket. He pushed it across to Obi-Wan. “Your keys, sir. Also I have here a small com unit you may use to request room service.”

“Thank the Force for that,” Obi-Wan said, snatching up the device and activating it.

“Ah, I’m afraid it only works on Rangani,” Gabbo said, taking a white cloth from his pocket with a flourish and dabbing at his forehead. “You are booked in with us for fourteen standard days on the deluxe package. There will be no other clients on the island. The villa is fully stocked with everything you should need.”

“Listen,” Obi-Wan said, leaning over the counter. “As I explained. There’s been a mistake. We are not booked to stay here for any length of time. I am a Jedi Master. My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Our ship is lying wrecked there, somewhere, at the bottom of your ocean, and we need to get back to Coruscant as soon as possible. Now,” he waved a hand in front of the man’s face, “you will do everything you can to help us.”

“Of course, sir.” Gabbo leant forward and lowered his voice. “In fact, the shipwreck fantasy is becoming one of our most popular experiences.” He winked at Anakin. “But may I say that taking on the roles of Jedi is a unique idea. Quite unique. And your costumes too. So authentic!

“Good Gods man!”

Obi-Wan was turning almost as pink as Gabbo. Anakin, on the other hand, was rather enjoying the spectacle of his former Master getting exasperated with someone else, for a change.

“Now,” Gabbo went on, undeterred. “There is one final, crucial detail I must show you. Please give me a moment, I’ll be back with you in the blink of an eye.” With a flourish of his arm, he disappeared out of a doorway at the back of the room.

Obi-Wan groaned, leaning against the counter with his head in his hands.

Pushing away the distracting thoughts that arose in response to Obi-Wan making that particular noise, Anakin found himself feeling actually pretty darn positive. They’d survived, they were together, it was warm here - so warm that for once Anakin didn’t feel like he was slowly freezing to death, and yes, there might be more sand than was ideal, but the pretty ocean almost made up for it. And Obi-Wan still looked nice, even with strands of hair stuck down to his face, and his complexion flushed from heat and frustration. In fact he looked particularly nice.

“What are you smirking at?”

“Is the idea of spending a few days here really so bad?”

“I don’t intend to find out.”

“Under the circumstances, I don’t see that we have much choice.”

“Perhaps you would like to take a turn persuading our friend otherwise.”

“Ah, but you’re the Negotiator, not me."

"I'm not sure even our lightsabers would convince him."

"I guess there’s only one way to find out." Anakin glanced to the doorway at the back of the room.

“In the blink of an eye, eh?” Obi-Wan murmured.

Together, they crossed the room and stepped outside.

In the sand, a track of footprints led round to the front of the hut, down the beach to the water’s edge and disappeared.

“Why that little…” Obi-Wan muttered a curse in Huttese. Anakin grinned, not realising Obi-Wan had such a wide vocabulary of expletives.

Just then, something beeped behind them.

“Please follow,” the little droid said, setting off along the beach.

“I vote we do as we’re told,” Anakin said, not waiting to hear Obi-Wan’s opinion.

The villa had only one bed.

Not only that; it only had one proper room.

At one side a door led to a spacious refresher. Another door opened onto the terrace, supported on stilts over the sea. Inside, an enormous, circular bed was covered by a canopy of fine netting. The only other furniture was a small table and two chairs, a kitchen area with a fully-stocked chiller, and a large closet containing assorted clothes.

Anakin slipped his arms into the soft cotton robe he’d chosen after taking a long, relaxing shower. Obi-Wan had not even glanced at the closet; he was outside somewhere, still wearing the torn tunic and leggings he’d arrived in.

Anakin found him on the terrace. The sun had just sunk into the sea, and the horizon was tinged gold and pink, silhouetting a few wisps of dark cloud. Overhead, where the sky was darker, a band of stars was beginning to emerge. The water beneath the terrace washed back and forth in a gentle, soothing rhythm, and in the distance, the insects of the forest sang their own night-time serenade.

“Wow,” he said, crossing to Obi-Wan’s side, the wood warm under his bare feet.

“It is… rather beautiful,” Obi-Wan said, starlight reflecting in his eyes. “I can’t remember the last time I paused to notice such a thing.”

“And you’re afraid if you pause too long, it will be even harder to go back.”

Obi-Wan gave him an intrigued look. “Perhaps.“

“We’ll get back to them, don’t worry.”

“I have to worry, you know that.”

“Perhaps take a night off, then. Just one?”

“Hmm.”

“You can take a shower, I’ve finished in there. I’m going to sleep. That bed is bigger than some prison cells we’ve shared.”

“It’s OK. I’ll sleep out here.”

“Out here?” Anakin looked down. The terrace floor was made of hard wooden slats. “Are you sure?

“I’ll be fine.”

Anakin was too tired to protest. With a sigh, he patted Obi-Wan on the arm, wished him a good night, and padded back inside.

Thanks, Kenobi series. Thank you so much 😛 After three episodes I had a dream where there was Coruscanto instead of Encanto and there were Obi and Ani (so much in love with each other) singing 🎶 We don't talk about Padme nay nay nay 🎶 WTF 😆

"He was happy for Anakin's skill and growing command of the Force. But he wished a simple thing for Anakin. It was something he could not give his Padawan. it was not a gift he could hand over, like a well-loved river stone. He wished for a friend."

Obi-Wan wants nothing more than for Anakin to have a friend at the Jedi Temple. Not because he minds being the only person Anakin has to share a laugh, or confide, but because he knows how important it is to have friends while one is growing up at the Jedi Temple.

He likes being his Padawan's friends, showcasing that their relationship is not that of a traditional 'Master-Padawan', since they're different from everyone else. But he still feels as if Anakin needs friends beyond himself.

Meanwhile, Anakin wants Obi-Wan's love and attention more than anything in the world. He wants to be Obi-Wan's everything as Obi-Wan is everything to him. However, he had his heart broken when he caught sight of Obi-Wan having multiple one night stands, some of them jedi knight or masters they know.

Anakin then gets into his head that, if he wants Obi-Wan's love, he has to prove to the older man that he too can be unemotional and free of attachments, not needing emotional affection to connect (he's lying to himself).

He tries to sleep around, but finds himself unable to and meets another padawan, who helps him figure out why he can't. He forms a friendship with this padawan, who takes away the sting of Obi-Wan's unwilligness to deeply connect with Anakin.

Obi-Wan then leaves for a month on a standard mission while Anakin gets left behind and when Obi-Wan returns he expects his padawan to greet him like usual, but Anakin is nowhere to be found.

Obi-Wan then learns that Anakin has a friend at the temple, something he had always hoped it would happen! But then... why is he feeling so... weird about Anakin having a friend?

Queue jealous Obi-Wan because a padawan is stealing his Anakin's attention away from him and Obi-Wan needs it for... teaching purposes, nothing more.

Not because he misses Anakin's presence by his side. Of course not.

Hello Open Circle Fleet!

As you may know, or possibly just finding out by reading this, we have our very first Obikin Events event coming up!!

This mini event will run July 23 - 24!

**If you saw the other post, please know I goofed on the dates there! These are the correct ones!

I know this is only a month away, and doesn’t give you much time to create for, which is why for this event there will be no minimums or maximum word counts, no set sizes for art, no x amount of pics for an aesthetic/mood board, no x amount for a playlist, no x amount length for fanvids or podfics. This event in particular is meant to be low pressure.

You can create art, podfics (though please do make sure you have the authors permission if it’s not your fic you are turning into a podfic), mood board/aesthetics, playlists or whatever you can come up with to fill the prompts!

Which leads me to prompts:

Day One, July 23 - Canon Verse! Create anything you wish as long as it’s set in the GFFA. Meaning you can create fix-it fic’s, never a Jedi, raised a Sith, clone wars era pwps, saving Anakin from falling to the dark side, explore scenes you felt were only glossed over. You can even do AUs as long as they’re set within the GFFA!

Day Two, July 24 - AU’s! Want to explore Anakin being hot for Professor Obi-wan? Want rich business man Obi-wan to hire personal chef Anakin? Want an excuse to write that bodyguard fic or what about the raised as a Sith? Well today is the day for you then friend, because this day is all about AUs! Any and all are welcome!

The tag the blog will be tracking is #obikinweekendJ1, or to help ensure the blog sees your creation to reblog you can also @ us!

I know these prompts are very broad, but this is meant to be a very low pressure event. If you want to create only for one day, awesome! If you want to do both, fantastic! If you want to create multiple things, then I salute you King! But don’t feel like you have to do anything but bask in what other people create is still valid!
