rain world assumption from before i first played the game. from a conversation

one i vividly remember is that i thought the iterators would have a LOT more importance. and i mean they are important in the game but they would be like endgame point importance. knew about them lightly. just got spoiled that they were Something in the game

and the world was a big mix of industrial complex, shoreline, and a bit of metropolis. where a few areas were actual industrial looking facilities, stuff to crawl here and there, but the main thing would be these flooded city areas with huge skyscrapers and constructions. lots of water from the rain here and there

my idea of an iterator encounter would be this big room (probably a bit bigger than the sketch, like taking up almost the whole screen big + a bit more) and it would be on top of a big skyscraper youd have to climb, and thered be a small interator laying on a pile of wires and tubes and other stuff keeping it alive, almost like a cluttered nest. and the walls would be this sort of glass, so a lot of skylight would be shining all over it. idk what wouldve happened after this, though. their design would was a bit different than like, iterator iterator, i just cant remember much. all i knew was that it was a humanoid

I can’t do that; which is why I’m asking you to. #also: a bunch of tags are surprised this isn’t ‘shopped #it’s the lighting. backlit by the sun (which is diffused through the water) but also forelit artificially #the artificial light - a flash pack or something - casts a hard shadow under the creatures arm #which normally wouldn’t be possible if backlit by the SUN; you’d see a less-hard/more-fragmented shadow above water #as light sources ‘compete’ in a sense - and since there aren’t any light sources which can outshine the literal sun #it looks a bit weird when the darkest shadow is being cast from any other origin point - which is what’s essentially happening here #I don’t know the mechanics of how light travels through water; but I know the effect is substantial even with relatively short distances #also: it’s been balanced and color corrected by the author of the photo - who made deliberate choices to bring out the full potential #so it’s not like it’s a fresh and untouched export #but the kind of ‘tacked on’ appearance of the creature is a result of the lighting conditions within the image

not to sound like a boomer, but I need some people to learn how to write emails in a semi-professional (at the very least) format so you're not cold emailing a business/potential employer/any other stranger about formal matters in the exact same way you'd DM a close friend on instagram

the formality/language can loosen up in the email chain once you've established a rapport and you match the other person if they're being less formal, but please don't have the very first email you send a stranger be written in all lowercase ultra-casual sms slang with no greeting or signature and a billion emojis

#this sounds like a 'argh kids these days doing [insert exaggerated story they don't actually do in reality]' kind of thing #except that I've gotten soooo many emails like this #there's a reason that I don't have my DMs open on any socmed and it's bc they attract people getting way too casual/parasocial immediately #and forcing people to write out an email both filters out 90% of weird impulse messages and also throws them out of that casual headspace #except that I can actively tell when this fails and someone is treating emails as if they're the same thing as DMs

guys I had this realization the other day that Redwall works really well for reading aloud, and kinda half-remembered something about the author reading to kids? So I looked it up to see if I had made a connection.

And it turns out, yes, actually, because he read aloud to kids at a school for the blind. But all the books they gave him to read were depressing. So he wrote Redwall, a story about heroism and courage and making it through struggles, and filled it with so many sensory, visual details so he could give them something better and I just-- that's so wholesome-- help
