Hi! I love reading your works and I have a little request if you don't mind for a Jade x Reader.

I really just want a short where the reader is making their Halloween costume (a mushroom fairy) and surprises Jade with it. It'd be even cuter if the mushroom that the reader got inspiration from also happened to be a favorite of Jade's.

Halloween was inching closer and closer by the day and you didn’t have much more time to complete your costume. So, as soon as you were finished with class for the day, you immediately returned to Ramshackle, cooping yourself up in your room until it was time to make you and Grim dinner. You had been working non-stop on your costume for the past week or so, powering through the many times you’ve pricked your finger with your accursed sewing needle. You couldn’t even count the numerous occasions that Grim or the ghosts had to help bandage your hands up after all your slip-ups at this point.

You had come up with an idea nearly a month ago and wanted to make it a reality with your own two hands – this year for Halloween, you would be a mushroom fairy! You had thought the idea was pretty cute, plus it was a simple enough costume to make considering all the DIY videos you could find on the internet. While it most certainly wouldn’t be unique by any means, hopefully your classmates would be able to appreciate the work you had put into it.

Your costume was based on the Fly Agaric mushroom, also known as Amanita Muscaria, simply because it was an iconic mushroom with its recognizable red-and-white-dotted cap. It was also one of your upperclassmen’s favorite species of mushroom, but that wasn’t the reason why you chose it – it was just a coincidence, you swear.

Right now, you were currently finishing up your mushroom cap, sewing on a few final details into the red fabric considering Halloween was now only two days away at this point. You were certainly excited to be able to show off your costume to your friends, and you were hoping you’d get a genuine reaction out of the previously-mentioned upperclassman. After about another twenty minutes, you had completed adding all of the small white beads to your hat. With a wide smile, you held your costume out in front of you. It was finally ready, and you couldn’t wait to see what everyone thought of it at the party.

Before you knew it, it was finally Halloween and – after weeks of hard work and bloody fingertips – you were finally able to wear your costume! You already had gotten quite a few compliments from some of your friends, but you had a specific upperclassman in mind you knew would absolutely love what you were wearing. You were currently scanning the room to see if you could find him, trying to spot his signature teal hair among the large body of students. It shouldn’t be too hard to find him considering how tall he was, but you ended up finding his brother before you could him.

“Hey Floyd! Happy Halloween!” You said with a smile, making your way over to one of the school’s biggest menaces. Floyd’s face seemed to light up when he saw you, a bright yet somewhat intimidating grin spreading across his features.

His sharp teeth were at full display as he made his way over to you, waving as he said in a sing-song tone, “Shrimpy~, there you a–!” However, once he seemed to register your costume, his smile immediately faded as he questioned with a slight scowl, “…What are you wearing?”

“I’m a mushroom fairy! Pretty cute, right?” You told him in return, pride filling your chest as you gestured towards your outfit.

“Ew, no – mushrooms are gross.” Floyd said with a grimace, looking almost disappointed with you.

“What? No they’re not! They’re absolutely adorable!” You told him in return, placing your hands on your hips as you stood your ground.

“Ugh – you’ve been hangin’ out with Jade too much. He’s a bad influence on you.” Floyd said, coming over and placing his arm on your shoulder as he leaned into you with his taller form. He had the habit of using you like an armrest every now and again, a habit that he had picked up months ago at this point.

“Arguably, I think you’re a worse influence.” You said with a slight huff, trying to keep yourself balanced considering you had a giant leaning against you. You moved the hat on your head out of the way so you could glance up at Floyd, asking him, “Where is your brother, by the way? I’ve been looking all over for him.”

“Last time I saw him, he was with Azul by the food table.” Floyd said, glancing down at you in return. However, once your eyes met, a wide smirk began growing on his face. As he poked your cheek slightly with his index finger, he asked teasingly, “Why, you wanna show him your adorable costume? Ehehehe, you’re getting bold, Shrimpy.”

“You know what? I think I’m done with this conversation.” You bluntly stated, quickly removing yourself from under his weight as Floyd laughed out loud at your slightly flushed face; you didn’t get why he liked teasing you so much. He didn’t seem fazed by it at all by your sudden movement either, immediately returning to his usual posture as though he hadn’t been putting all of his weight on you just mere moments ago.

“Good luck~ – I’m rooting for you!” Floyd said with a shit-eating grin, waving to you as you left that conversation before he could embarrass you any further.

You weaved in and out of the sea of your classmates, looking for the food table since that was the only lead you had to go off of. You knew you probably had all night to show your costume to Jade who was arguably the person who would appreciate it the most, but a part of you just wanted to show him now. Thankfully, as the snack table came into view, you saw both Jade and Azul who seemed to be talking with one another. Azul was drinking what seemed to be fruit punch, a slight scowl on his face as he glared down at the cup in his hand, while Jade seemed absolutely delighted by his companion’s utter look of distaste.

“Note to self,” You thought, “Don’t try the punch.”

Now was the perfect opportunity for a scare, though, so you tried to make yourself as small as possible which was honestly quite difficult given the size of your hat. You slowly closed in on Azul and Jade, the former seeming to notice your presence but deciding not to say anything as you snuck up beside Jade, jumping up slightly as you exclaimed, “Boo!”

“Ah, Prefect, it’s nice to see y–…” Jade said with a smile as he turned slightly to look at you, his words tapering off as soon as you two made eye contact.

You grinned up at both of them, saying happily, “Happy Halloween you two!”

“Yes, happy Halloween to you as well.” Azul said, throwing his cup of punch into a nearby trash can as he asked you with a slight smirk, “Not going to say ‘trick or treat’ to me again this year, hmm?”

“Nope – I think I learned my lesson from last year… but, if you happen to have any treats you’d like to give out, I’ll happily take some!” You said with a smile, watching as Azul pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose. Jade was still looking at you, not having said anything besides his unfinished greeting.

One of Azul’s brows rose in question as he asked, crossing his arms over his chest as he looked at you as if you had grown a second head, “Since when did I become someone who just gives out things?”

“Since we became friends, duh – friends do nice things for friends, no strings attached!” You told him honestly; after all, you considered the three most terrifying influential members of the Octavinelle dorm to be your friends. While you definitely did not have the best start with any of them, you really didn’t have a lot of good first impressions (or experiences) with any of your friends at NRC. Somehow throughout the past year, though, you had grown to be quite close with the octo-trio.

He seemed to think for a moment, glancing over at Jade before smiling and muttering slightly, “Hmm… I have an idea of something nice I could do for both of you, then.” He then suddenly began to walk away, waving slightly as he departed as he spoke, “I’ll talk to you later if we run into each other again – have fun, Prefect.”

“Oh, uh… you too?” You managed to say, waving to him as well despite how confused you were at the whole situation. Why did he just leave? How exactly was ditching in the middle of your conversation doing something nice?? You know, sometimes Azul was just as much an enigma as the twins were.

“Well, that was kind of weird…” You muttered to yourself before returning all of your attention to Jade, smiling up at him as you gestured towards your attire, “So, what do you think about my costume Jade? Believe it or not, I even managed to make it all by myself.”

He had been watching Azul’s retreating form with a slight frown on his face as he muttered under his breath, “…He’s going to make me repay him for this, isn’t he?”

“Hmm? What was that, Jade?” You asked, not having quite heard what he had said. Between the noisiness of the party and the height difference between the two of you, it was difficult to hear anyone if they weren’t speaking louder than usual.

Jade just looked down at you, his smile returning full-force as he said, “Oh, it’s nothing you have to worry about.”

Before you could even ask him what that meant by that, Jade reached forward to hold the ruffles that lined the bottom of your hat in between his fingers as he inspected it, telling you with a slight hint of interest in his voice, “Your costume is quite impressive; you did a very good job, you know.” He paused for a moment to ask you, looking down at your form with his mismatched eyes, “Say, what made you decide to pick the Fly Agaric mushroom, hmm?”

“I mean, probably it’s an iconic mushroom, you know? Like, I’m pretty sure everyone knows what this one looks like even if they don’t know its name.” You told him, taking a moment to think about whether you wanted to admit the second part out loud. Well, you might as well be completely honest with him – after all, he could very easily get the truth out of you if he wanted to, “Plus… isn’t it one of your favorite mushrooms? I just thought you’d appreciate it, is all.”

Jade’s face was unsettlingly blank for a long time before an arguably terrifying smirk grew across his face as he lightly pinched one of your cheeks in between his fingers, “My, you’re too cute, Prefect. I could just eat you up right now.”

“Really Jade? Now isn’t the time to joke around like that… I mean, you are joking, right?” You asked, glancing up at him; however, Jade said nothing in return, the grin on his face only widening. You could feel your blood run cold as you asked him, a nervous smile on your face as you said, “…Do I at least get a head-start?”

He seemed to think for a moment, standing up straight before telling you with a smile, “Go ahead – I’ll be a little more courteous to you than my brother usually is. Now, let’s have some fun, hm?”

The Firstborn fairies are those who came before all, and they rule their own respective seasons within the Island of the Fairies.

They are – Dream, the firstborn fairy of summer. Nightmare, the firstborn fairy of autumn. Error, the firstborn fairy of winter. And Ink, the firstborn fairy of spring.

Coming after the Firstborn are the season fairies. They are born in the image of their respective firstborn, bearing characteristics not only from them but also from their hopes and dreams. They are their loyal followers. They are all Sans variants.

They are – The summer fairies, the autumn fairies, the winter fairies, and the spring fairies.

Also known as – The butterfly fairies, the mystical fairies, the moth fairies, and the dragonfly fairies.

The Firstborn and their season fairies reside on the western side of Fairy Island, but they are not the only fairy types that exist here. There are also – Monster fairies (Papyrus variants, Toriel variants, Undyne variants, Temmie variants, etc…), and Human fairies/Fae (resembling humans, often with blackened or iridescent eyes, brought to life by Ink and a human woman.)

There is also the Big Folk that has settled down on most of the eastern side of Fairy Island. These are regular humans and monsters who travelled over the waters to find new and peaceful lands to live on. A few of them hunt fairies (specifically season fairies) for their wings, blood, and bodies. The Big Folk that lives close to the Great Forest (Ink’s domain) are often victims of spring fairy bites, and while they believe these bites cause them to go temporarily insane, they are, in fact, filled with extra magic that makes them able to hear the trees talk, see the bees dance, and feel the winds collect their individual stories.

Other creatures that live on Fairy Island include – The small people/monsters (the same size as fairies but lack any sort of wings. They usually live in hollowed-out trees with tiny doors and windows), the mushroom people (born from residual magic dropped by the fairies, they wander along the forest floor on stumpy legs. They make soft squeaks, but no one knows if they are intelligent or not. Often used as pets by fairies), gnomes (the same size as fairies and wear tall, pointy hats of either red, blue, or green that cover their eyes. They live underground and are only active during winter), stonemen (resembling boulders and mountains, these are gentle giants that often remain asleep for most of their lives. They are immortal unless anyone chips them away), trolls (vicious and dangerous, they live in caves and underground shelters during the day and come out at night to hunt whatever they can lay their hands on, including fairies and Big Folk alike), and finally, the elusive flower people (little is known about them. They live on the Isle of Luna, south-east of Fairy Island.)

done!!!! meet River Pennington, the queerest kid in town. they use any pronouns! i imagine her wearing those funky silly earrings like the mushroom ones i drew them with. they wear like a bunch of diff forms of the uniform depending on the day (even if they get dress coded for it). she’s seen as a little “troubled” by the adults in her life despite honestly being a smart kid and not really mean. he’s just… a little odd? like i imagine from what we get about uranium that it’s a small mostly catholic town.

however, she grew up with two moms which like was weird to all the other kids her age, so she was bullied because of that. her parents wanted to move- but they were right on money and uranium was one of the few places they could live comfortably, and then they didn’t want to move far away and change this kids whole life, yknow? (despite the fact that river didn’t have much in uranium to begin with soooo)

she never got along with kids very well. she was loud, bright, and just overall a lot, so she didn’t get along with everyone, and the kids who she did get along with all fell out with her eventually, because they moved or their parents saw her as a “bad influence” etc.

the choir was a nice change of pace for her though! she finally found people who felt as “socially outcasted” as she did :)

she likes them all to varying degrees but i think that after the past few years (i think all of the 6 are seniors? but she also might be a junior for sillies. idk though. i think canada works like that in terms of years??! idk how it works anywhere but the us) they’ve become a sort of weird family to her

I was curious about Elven fashion fads, and how different ones come and go, and like 1200+ year old elf getting exited that a level six is wearing the same outfits people wore when she was a level six. So I made some up. 1. Earrings that are a fungi ecosystem growing in a miniature Mycology encyclopedia. After a while, the fungi will have broken the book down enough that you throw the entire thing into your at-home mushroom garden! A hole is cut in many of the pages with a clear sheet over it so you can see the mushrooms growing inside. You can buy them, or you can DIY them at home (I imagine DIY Mycology Earrings were a big thing when Della was a kid)

2. Best Friends eyeshadow. Eye Shadow made with Enzymes that glow and sparkle when near each other. You and your bestie can coordinate a day of the week to wear it at the same time. (This was in waaaay back when, when like, Luzia Vacker was a kid, but people kept getting eye rashes, and then it came back when Oralie was kid, improved so that it didn’t send you to the healing center when the two wearers got to close, starting a rumor that you were allergic to your best friend.)

3. This was more for older people when they got engaged/just ' wanted to do something special, or even for a wedding anniversary, and can be wedding rings. Like Cognate rings, they have customizable initials for you and your partner, but magnet together with emotional energy rather than mental energy. They cover joy and excitement, but also anger, grief, (etc) to help them remember to be there for each other all the time, not just the good times. It goes in and out, but is always kind of referred to as old fashioned. 4. Magnetic Eyelash extensions. Hear me out, elves having things that humans would go absolutely not (like these) and humans having things that make elves go absolutely not (like drawn on eyebrows, contour, death penalty, and Elvis haircuts) I don’t mean the eyelashes that are just extension that go into your eyelash, I mean mascara, and then separate eyelash things that float in front of your eyelash because they and the mascara are made of some elven mineral that attracts until the get to close and it repels. ”No, those haven’t been in style since my grandma was a kid!” “But mom, it’s coming back!” (*cough* winged eyeliner and mom jeans *cough*)

5. You just rub it on your face and it makes your freckles and birth marks florescent, sparkly, or different colors. I would use it. It could be like a Platypus or one of those weird Australian beard sharks and have my freckles glow under black light. 6. Bags and pockets are out, vibrant lip hues are in. But how do you carry around your lipstick without a bag or pocket? Easy! With these Lipstick Earrings! You can screw off the bottom and extend a bit of lipstick to touch up you makeup. Made quick with a string that pulls them right back into place when you let go. (This is dumb and I have nothing to say about it other than absolutely) 7. Idk what I was thinking. You can write on it, but the writing is only visible from the front, otherwise it just looks like a compact mirror with some makeup. Great for cheating in school, and hiding things from the government. I have no slogan.

Hey! Same anon again (dw about forgetting synthetic dyes exist lol, I forget everything, instantly, all the time) I finished the video (good! but when aren't they lol) and your videos always put me in a mood to diy more lol. I really wanna do something with bleach again so for inspo I wanted to check if you had a video dedicated to it but if you do, I can't find it thru the search. Do you?

(also, if you don't, you're very welcome to steal the idea and make one lol)

Ooh no i don’t have a dedicated bleach video! I do have a couple ideas of things one could do (like using different spray bottles to get different effects, like a fine mist versus a bold streak), using stencils (whether handmade real quick out of cardboard / household items/ or proper stickers /tape to make stripes/ lace / fishnet for texture , etc), or doing like dip dyes/dyeing one half of the garment . (You can also get good designs by folding the garment , or give it a tie dye look by rolling it into a swirl like you would an item to tie dye)

You can also hand paint with a paint brush and bleach but I don’t Love this method cause it takes a while and even in a well ventilated bathroom I get quite light headed lol (I’ve seen some cool skeleton rib cage hoodie bleach designs , but one of my fav things I ever bleached was a pair of leggings , one half was just splatters and the other half was kind of trippy intricate hand painting of mushrooms and clouds and eyes and stuff) (if you do this, water your bleach down lots, wear lots of protection and do it in a super ventilated area)

Not sure if that’s helpful in the slightest but I hope so ! Good luck in all your bleach dye projects!

(and please anyone reading this use common safety precautions when working with a harsh chemical like bleach I don’t want anyone to get injured lol)

Hammock: You can fit them nicely and get a good view of them all, however the fact it hangs over the bedroom like an anvil is a definite drawback. You just know that bad boy is going to burst like a mushroom all over your painting supplies. 6/10

'Zoo' bin: they are imprisoned!! I think the bars are not a practical size for making them neat and tidy, and you also have to put butts on heads to arrange them neatly. 4/10

Stuffed bag: they are all so dark in there and they love it but that shit is NOT comfy. Sitting on that is like sitting on a potato sack. 8/10 but it will mold if you don't upkeep it.

Pet hotel: 12/10!!!!!! They are all so comfy and have space and they are sooooo happy and they get fresh air and also safe burrow. Ideal habitat!

Not doctor recommended crib storage: 8/10! The stuffed animals are so comfy and have freedom to play. Do not put your baby in there ❤️

The claw: they whipped Jesus with that. 6/10? I don't think a kid can actually access all of them, but it does keep them separated nicely. I think the clips might hurt them though, and that wall hook wants to escape so bad

Rollercoaster bar: 10/10! Simple and sweet, and can fit many sizes of guys. It looks like you might be able to unhook the bar, which is vital. I think it would be better to have a bar for big guys and little guys so everyone is safe for the ride, but it's functional. P nice :)

Spiderbait hammock: I'm pretty sure I've seen this exact set up in a trailer before. It's a good way to save space but an absolute pain to clean. 3/10

Badu describes the Marni collection as something of an audiovisual experience, what she calls "mystical instrumental wear."

A champion for Black women and free thought, she's not only in an era of reinvention, but expansion. One time Holly was fighting a clone and the clone like grabbed her arm weirdly and dislocated her shoulder but in doing that it messed up some nerves in her lower back so and she already had like random minor back pains sometimes so now hobie kinds just helps him out though that whenever it gets really bad.

Has q seen hobie cry: whenever hobie cries, there are 3 or 4 questions q always asks first. Do you wanna talk abt it, do you need space ( if no then the last question isn't asked), do you need water, do you want a hug/ to be held? Has hobie seen q cry: q has like this thing with crying where he knows it's healthy to cry but also she doesn't want to be a burden and depending on the situation that she doesn't deserve to cry so hobie asks them the same questions and then they figure it out from there. One wants to give the other a surprise what do they do: they're both ok at keeping secrets but hobie is better than holly at it. Holly tries to get information he needs first which usually consists of him asking hobie hypothetical questions a few days at a time. Hobie tries to pry for more info but isn't successful most of the time. Holly rarely suspects when hobie is surprising them but when she does have a clue she tries to get her to let him guess what it is. Hobie doesn't tell em whether or not they get it.

How do they annoy each other: quante will constantly try to jump on hobies back while walking, will poke his arm repeatedly, will ask what they're doing when it's fairly obvious. Will bite hobie randomly. She will bite back. Hobie annoys q by resting her chin on their head while they're standing, will put his full body weight on him with no warning. Will randomly tickle them. Both of them will copy what the other is saying for hours at a time

One HAS to ne sacrificed who us It and how does the other react: ok so quante (depending on the time of day) is either terrified of death or like I can't wait. It's not really the after part zer worried abt, it's the transition part from not dead to dead. They're terrified of pain (ironic considering they're a spider person) but also they don't want anyone to be sad if they died. Hobie's like I really don't want to die but I will if I have to. If hobie died, q would feel guilty because it should've been her but she would also not do anything too drastic to herself because hobie died for her so he's gonna live for him. On the other hand if q died, before their death, they'd feel guilty for the pain they're leaving everyone with and selfish that they don't have to feel that pain because she dead. If it's a quick decision I feel like q would convince himself to do it before her brain talked her out of it

Accidental baby aquisition, what's happening: aw shit there's a child now. They will take care of it with everything they have. The baby also has a great community since it has the spiderband and q's friends. Hobie and q will hide this from miguel as long as possible. It's not that miguel wouldn't love the child but miguel doesn't know a lot about q's universe and they'd like to keep it that way.

Hobie is insisting holly give them a piercing, how does that go: holly has given herself a helix piercing and a nostril piercing and it went well ish. So when hobie is adamant that hollu gives her one she's like sure why not, first time for everything. It goes pretty well and only got infected once.

What does q think of hobies music and do they listen to punk music: q likes hobie's music and goes to his shows. He always makes sure she has earplugs so he doesn't have hearing loss by 25. Meanwhile q had those like construction headphones because they have sensitive ears. They still go to support hobie thought. Q does listen to punk music, it's kinda just jumbled in w the rest of their music taste. But it's there.

What music does q like and does hobie listen to it: q will listen to almost anything as long as it has a catchy beat. The lyrics don't matter but if they're good that's cool. She's mainly been doing an exploration of black music so there's a lot of neo soul, afrobeat, afrobeats (yes there is a difference), funk, punk, disco, hip hop, r&b, jazz, hyperpop. Hobie's chill with most of them but she vibes with the neo soul, afrobeat, punk, funk, disco, and jazz.

Does Holly make music and does he make it with hobie: holly writes songs occasionally that they never finish. But they will help hobie with some songs or will ask them for input on a song

Has holly ever made hobie feel sappy: so after a patrol one morning holly was meeting up with hobie and on the way there he saw a baby pigeon. It wasn't in or near a nest so she loomed around for one and when she couldn't find one she took the pigeon with her to see hobie and hobie kinda adopted the pigeon and now he has a lil pigeon child. The adoption date of the pigeon is also the same as the day yall met. Hobie doesn't really keep track because multiverse time is weird and also time is a construct (does this count as sappy? I kinda forgot what it meant and can't look it up because I'm on a plane)

Does Q keep anything of hobie's around: anything hobie gives her, she keeps. Anything that reminded them of hobie they keep. Occasionally steals hobies clothes because it will be waaaay too big. Q is a hoarder, hobie amplifies this

How does hobie make quante feel: in summary, akskjejsjsjsudjshshshshdhjsjdjd. In detail hobie makes them feel safe and seen. They feel like they can just exist and not have to worry about anything. Being with hobie is freeing and calming and exhilarating

How does hobie feel about q: hobie feels that q is a breath of fresh air. They aren't worried (too much) about the society around them so it's also freeing for hobie in a way. Why do the 2 of them make a good pair: both of them are similar in someway but I think their differences balance each other put and they each bring new perspectives

i spent like 2 hours running around what was left of hyrule castle on the ground trying to find my champions tunic. no dice

im starting to experiment more with combining things now. both with fuse and seperate abilities. i got a wing glider to travel from no where by holding it in the air, dropping it, climbing on and using recall. i had a full inventory of mushroom spears for about 10 minutes. diy elemantal swords. giant stick boomerang. boulderang. two swords glued together boomerang. frozen boomerang which is op as fuck. i watched someone use ascend by stacking 4 shrine spheres on top of each other. why would i make a boring car when i can slap 4 fans and a rocket on a tree i knocked over. diy catapults i take 4 hearts of damage from. zonai trampolines that always set me backwards and make me take a billion hearts of damage. fire shield that should probably be giving link third degree burns. hes too powerful.

theres less people at the stables ive noticed. but not a ton out wandering the world? eyes emoji

Edit 05.09.23: I no longer support AI art. This has been true for a while but I haven't updated my intro. If you go back far enough you may find some art. When I first got into it I thought they used only free photo databases and only art that had entered public domain. I know this was naive now. I liked the hyperrealistic style renders that could generate character inspiration. I didn't know how much art was being stolen and how many styles were being replicated nonconsenually. Honestly when I got into it I was being very delusional. So it took me a while to accept that what was happening with AI art was happening. Using AI art tools for fun was not as completely harmless as it first appeared. I don't want to help that industry, but I do hope one day AI art could be different. Not a threat. Because the programming potential would not be a replacement of human art. AI programming is a special interest bc I think the field needs people who care about the ethics of how AI technology is used. I sometimes blog about AI art in reference to this interest in understanding the industry of AI as a whole and how it can be used for justified choices.
