SHU — WITHIN TEMPTATION

let's start with some nice symphonic metal! it's pretty obvious since shu likes classical music. he's relatively calm (maybe too much) but there's a storm inside of him: his double side fits this band a lot imo. moreover, within temptation are powerful but also ethereal, so even though they're "heavy" i think he would give a chance to them :D he would occasionally cover their songs on violin if he feels like it.

REIJI — APOCALYPTICA

staying on the symphonic metal side, we have apocalyptica. this band is so peculiar since it's only formed by three cellos and drums, but i can assure you they're metal lmao. they're neat, polished, elegant and mature: all of these are basic reiji traits! (shu likes them too but he listens to them secretly lol)

AYATO — PARAMORE / HALESTORM

here he comes. my lil punk boi. i think about too many artists when it comes to ayato, cause honestly just every pop punk artist does it for me, but early paramore music gives me HUGE teen emo vibes (both angsty and romantic) that represent ayato so well!! i already stated it in my rocker!ayato headcanons post, but he would blast the RIOT! album at every hour of the day.

regarding halestorm, they represent his "darker" side. they're heavier and more aggressively free-spirited. now tell me if he wouldn't sing Love Bites (So Do I) to yui "jokingly" lol.

KANATO — THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE

how could i NOT associate kanato with the band that basically gave birth to the creepy cute genre, the birthday massacre? their particular goth/industrial sound blending with the vocalist chibi's cute, almost ethereal voice gives so many kanato vibes!! not to mention that the official color of the band is purple lmao. he'd find their album covers very aesthetic, i'm sure of it :D and i also think his fav album would be Violet, the creepiest of them all.

LAITO — LADY GAGA / THE PRETTY RECKLESS

basically laito's two personalities lmao. lady gaga doesn't need any introductions: her provocative and sexy persona shocked everyone and basically all of her songs could potentially be in laito's sex playlist.

the pretty reckless are also indeed sexy, but sexy-depressed??? sexy-angsty?? some of their songs are about embracing one's "dark" side, some others are about dealing with depression (especially in their latest works). i like how they both use the "sexy" façade while actually having more to offer. considering how much laito is broken inside, their music fits so well.

SUBARU — BRING ME THE HORIZON

i'll keep saying this: emo music isn't enough for this guy. this dude listens to metalcore and whatever is heavier than emo pop punk. i actually had issues with picking a band for him cause most of them are casual listens to me but!!! in the end i chose bring me the horizon. angsty emo. pure rage. that's simply subaru for you! sometimes he would sing to their songs in his room but never admit it lol.

RUKI — HIM

honestly, this guy would love gothic rock. i just know it. HIM is the perfect band for him! their dark, elegant, kinda sad sound reminds me of him a lot. and the lyrics too!! they're really poetic, mostly about love and death with a few mentions to eden (pun intended?); the vocalist ville valo often takes inspiration for his lyrics from the books he reads! ruki would definitely dedicate Vampire Heart to yui btw.

KOU — AVRIL LAVIGNE / ICON FOR HIRE

LISTEN. i've been headcanoning this ever since my first DL post ever but kou would be a huge avril lavigne fan. it would mostly represent his frivolous idol persona, but also some of what he hides underneath.

his realest and deepest side is represented by icon for hire. they're heavier, aggressive and talk a lot about sensitive topics. kou has one of the worst pasts among the DL characters and has dealt with pretty much everything going from depression, to abuse, to drug addiction, to suicidal tendencies. i think he'd find some sort of comfort in their songs.

YUMA — P.O.D.

i always pictured yuma as a hip-hop kinda guy, so i think he would like nu metal. being part of the angry and bothered trio with ayato and subaru, he's relatively the calmest one but that means nothing since we're in DL lol. p.o.d.'s passive-aggressive style reminds me of him so much and i swear i ALWAYS think about him when i listen to Youth of the Nation, it's like it talks about him and his brothers specifically.

AZUSA — EVANESCENCE

there are two types of emo: the angry emo and the sad emo. azusa obviously belongs to the second one. i can't really associate him to one genre in particular, it just depends on the ~vibes~, but i chose evanescence for him cause their lowkey eerie, slow style fits azusa a lot. fear of abandonment and selflessness are some of the themes they've covered and Lithium is the song that makes me think about azusa the most.

CARLA — NIGHTWISH

carla has that gothic royal-ish attitude that reminds of the first nightwish era (with tarja turunen as vocalist). i mostly tend to associate the deep, elegant lyrical vocals with carla's deep voice lol. it's just a matter of ~vibes~ again :D

SHIN — FROM FIRST TO LAST

this little shit would only listen to post-hardcore. nothing reminds me of shin more than a cringy "i'm angy >:(" music genre. i actually do enjoy some post-hardcore and from first to last is the exception. i think shin would fit especially in the Dead Trees era, aka FFTL's villain arc™: very silly, angsty and full of villanous vibes but more mature than their previous works.

KINO — AMARANTHE

gamer boi coming through with electronic metal!! amaranthe's futuristic mix of edm and metal + their in-your-face attitude is a perfect match with kino. PvP is THE kino song. the music, the lyrics, the game concept just suit him so well!! slay.

12: Is there a wedding? What was the proposal like? Any kind of honeymoon?

Okay, so, the wedding and honeymoon went well despite not having an auspicious start with the proposal.

In the name of avoiding spoilers for a later story, I'm going to skim over a lot of what happens with the proposal and just lead with these particular details.

1: Fenton has a very special ring.

2: Fenton needs to get said very special ring resized to fit Gandra's finger.

3: Fenton needs to pick up very special ring from jeweler from being resized, and asks Huey to pick up very special ring because Gandra's starting to suspect something is up because we all know how well Fenton can keep a secret.

4: Huey picks up the ring without a hitch.

Now, this is all going off to a great start. So things go horribly wrong, of course, because,

5: Dewey is Dewey. And a precious himbo-in-training. And inherited Della's impulse control.

6: Dewey. Puts. On. The. Ring.

7: The ring is now stuck on Dewey's finger.

8: Huey. Loses. His. Shit.

Huey: WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?

Dewey: I dunno. Better question: why are Gandra's fingers so small?

Though Huey does bring out a hatchet at some point in a moment of wrath, no fingers are severed in the name of getting the ring off Dewey's hand. And it does eventually come off with both ring and Dewey unscathed.

Everyone has a new appreciation for the Lord of the Rings. Yes, there are many jokes and puns made about it. Yes, Huey is called Gollum at one point. After Gandra actually gets the ring, some of the kids call it "Precious" and say it in the Gollum voice.

This isn't even half the other chaos that is going on at the exact same time. This is a C plot to this story. Maybe even a D plot.

Anyways. After all the proposal is made and accepted, pretty much the first thing Rosa does is take Gandra by the shoulders and say,

"I'm going to do the exact opposite of what my future-mother-in-law did and insist that you not have a Wedding Mass."

Rosa got guilt tripped into it and somehow had never attended a full Wedding Mass, and had no idea that it would be a two-hour-plus ceremony. On her knees at the front of the church the entire time. (This, by the way, is inspired by my sister's in-laws' wedding, in which they were also guilt tripped into a full Mass not having a clue what they got themselves into.)

Yeah, Rosa was not going to let that happen to Fenton and Gandra.

They do, however, get married at the Catholic church. Gandra didn't think that she'd want to get married in a white dress but agreed to do a single appointment of trying on wedding gowns, mostly just for fun. Except she actually ended up loving it and found three different dresses that she absolutely loved, all out of her price range, and Minnie took what she loved from each of the dresses to create a custom-gown for her.

Yeah, Fenton totally cried when Raymond and Kevin walked Gandra down the aisle. (The three of them weren't much better...)

Violet and Lena were co-maids of honor, and Huey was the best man.

Huey took planning this wedding very seriously. The engagement ring was barely on Gandra's finger before he pulled out the rather large three-ring-binder that was labeled "Fendra Wedding" that he had been assembling since the success of their third first date.

He... clashed slightly with Violet over it. Because she also had her own three-ring binder...

Lena, whom both called upon to settle matters as the third member of the bridal party, was firmly "Team Bride and Groom". Violet and Huey could be arguing about something small and Lena would just shoot Gandra a text like "You want X or Y?" and whatever Gandra chose (even if it was Z) was what they went with.

At the reception, Dewey and Clara do a duet of "All I've Ever Known" from Hadestown, because that's Gandra's favorite musical and the song is just so "them" according to Huey. (And he just ignores Louie when he says "Isn't that the number in which the characters are implied to have sex during the instrumental?")

Fenton tries to very nicely feed Gandra a bite of wedding cake. She smushes it into his face. Fenton retaliates by smearing frosting on her beak, the two of them laughing hysterically.

They honeymoon in Puerto Rico for two weeks. Fenton had always wanted to go and see where his family was from and where Rosa spent most of her childhood, and Gandra wanted to go somewhere where they could chill on a beach, eat good food, and be far away from Duckburg. It was a win-win.

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

Dialogue not so much - mostly cause there's not a lot of talking between our boys at the moment - but I really adore this lil bit from Ch3 when Thrawn sees Cygni for the first time post-Batonn:

He couldn’t understand, and for some reason the first thought to pass through his still-hazy mind was that surely if Cygni had survived, he would have known. He would have been the first to know, perhaps the only one to know. Why hadn’t he known?

5: What part was is hardest to write?

I'm still writing the dang thing so uhhh the all of it still to be written! Chapter 6-9 is giving me pains just trying to figure out pacing and the um "meta" narrative I want to include somehow but yeah! I'm trying to get out of this funk and back into writing ;;

10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?

I chose my throuple because I love Nightswan and he deserves to be alive and happy and also full of angst and also have two boyfriends. Nightswan/Thrawn is good bcs narrative foils, parallels, equals, rivals, the drama and frought tension of enemies to friends to lovers and Nightswan/Eli is good because I started shipping it one day and realised there's such potential there cause 'Swan is like Thrawn and could easily play a similar mentor role in an AU but also imagine these two bonding over having to deal with Thrawn's Shit TM all the time (and also Eli clearly has a type and Swan fits it). Thrawn/Eli I need not explain (they were roommates). But most of all I chose this ship because I can. Though, would you believe me I initially planned Accord as a Thranto featuring Third Wheel Nightswan fic? Ridiculous. Don't know what I was thinking.

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

Oh man I have a selection of songs that fit all three of these pairings. But as a general guide for Nightswan (who is the driving force and main POV of this fic) his vibe is Mumford & Sons, Kaiser Chiefs and Marina and the Diamonds (esp Electra Heart era). All the chapter titles are based on song lyrics which either are just a pun on whatever happens in the chapter, or have some emotional resonance with it.

fave bands/groups/solo artists: I had to think about this, because I’m honestly not much of a music person, so I’m going to answer this with some albums I can think of (not individual songs) I have actually bought with my own money: wayyyy too much Gilbert and Sullivan, various Big Band era and 1920s novelty song collections, the Muppet Treasure Island soundtrack, Petula Clark, and far, far too many Christmas music CDs (mostly classics and carols).  You will notice that what these have in common is that I can listen to the songs enough to absorb them and then SING THEM INCESSANTLY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE, R.I.P. to those around me.

dream job: A while ago there was one of those big English aristocracy country estates advertising for a live-in hermit to sulk mystically in a grotto and glare at tourists.  I am still regretful that I missed that opportunity.

dream trip: Impossible to decide, but it would definitely be focused around something archaeological, like the clay soldiers or something.  If I could go back in time, I would love to visit my great-grandmother’s house one more time.

fave food: I just really, really love starch, okay?  Bread, noodles, potatoes, CAKE.  So much cake.

OMFG gorgeous sugarplum! I legit only just was reminded of this while scrolling through my inbox right now! But my heart is finna burst!!! Thank you SO SO much and yes I would love to give some Headcanons about this! Especially since the next long story I’m working on includes this dynamic, and I’m so excited about it!! However, common disclaimer that while I am Arab and culturally Muslim even if I don’t practice like the rest of my family lol, I am Palestinian and not Syrian. So with every identity there are different experiences and customs no matter how closely intertwined. So I apologize for any inconsistency   that a Syrian may read and disagree with, and please feel free to correct me<3 <3

So first off some background on his mum in the story 

I chose the name Vivian based off a friend of a friend who’s uncle married a woman by that name back in Palestine,  so it’s definitely extremely uncommon, but a fully Arab lady was named it, so like it’s my defense bahaha. But it also means lively, and coupled with Hussein as her maiden name which means beautiful, it just fit her personality to a t!! 

She was born into a pretty secular family in Syria in the late 1920s, so there was a lot going on in that time period. But her dad was pretty influential, working in the government and such. Vivian was also the youngest of four girls and three boys so she was pretty spoiled tbh

She attended a boarding school in France through out her adolescence and decided to go to university there too, so she’s fluent in both Arabic and French, with pretty great English as well. Though she wasn’t exactly white passing, even though like a bunch of Syrians/Palestinians/Lebanese folk she was somewhat fair, she had distinctly Arabian features, like the large almond shaped eyes and thick lashes and thicker brows, and a long, largeish nose, accented by full lips. So she experienced a good amount of jeers and discrimination, especially when folks found out her surname. So I think she’s able to relate to Remus in that sense of being a wolf at least, and later on  when he comes out as gay.

It was 1950  when she and a few of her girlfriends went to Wales for holiday after completing university. The second Lyall first spotted her in the woods while she was trying to make it back to the cabin near the Irish Sea with her mates, it was something like love, because duh. She was a fucking knock out!! A babe and a baddy! Literally so far out of his league its ridiculous! But on Vivian’s side,  she was mostly just amused and a bit enamored by this cocksure Welshman who had the most endearing of crooked smiles that their son would inherit a decade later. So obviously she didn’t make it easy on him, but eventually she let him take her out on the last night of her trip, and was pleased to find out that they had the same sort of humor and the same passion for their careers and even the same love for the outdoors too.

 They had a long distance relationship for two years while she went to grad school so she could teach about classics while Lyall himself was rising the ranks in the Ministry for regulation and control of magical creatures— Unbeknownst to her, the Floo network  was very helpful with the distance. Just thank God Lyall himself is a Muggle born because he really had to fake the hell out of it lol.

So just to speed things up they got married on a lovely June evening in  1955,  subsequent to  Vivian excepting a professorial job in Cardiff after Lyall told her about the Wizarding world. At first Vivian thought e was tripping on some subpar edibles until he proved it by transfiguring her snuff box into a lovely broach that she kept for the rest of her life, So after Vivian was convinced, she became  absolutely enthralled by all of the magic so completely. 

They were trying for a few years when she finally became pregnant with Remus in 1959, and they were both so over the moon (pun unintended).

So like I said above, Vivian’s family are pretty secular, so I see her mostly practicing the cultural aspects of Islam. For example, every Friday— which is the equivalent to Sundays being the holy day  for Christians— she lights up the instance that she always keeps herself stocked up on after her annual trip to Syria, instead of the typical candles she ordinarily prefers.  And Remus swears that for the rest of his life whenever he smells it, he’s back to being a baby, puttering around the house and watching her dusting the shelves while humming quietly an Arabic song that’ played out the gramophone  by a man who’s music would soon become regarded as the song of the people. Or Remus would recall being snuggled into her lap while she read him a novel on the windowsill. Or he’d simply remember listening to his parents laughter fluttering in the air while he fell asleep by the fire, subconsciously making the flower buds closest to him bloom with his untapped magic.

Remus’s first clear memory— thanks to the endless pictures— is when he was around four years old, before the attack, and they were staying in Vivian’s home town in Damascus. While the men congregated out doors for cigars and cards and the women in the living room chatting while snacking on watermelon seeds, his older cousins— who were all girls— dragged him off to one of the bedrooms and doted on him because he was the baby of that side of the family. And he remembers walking out in a set of one of their heels and a headscarf wrapped around his head which made his Mama and Tata and Aumties laugh out loud and croon over him, and all his uncles and Sido call him Aumty Remus.

The attack by Greyback happened soon after they returned to Wales, and I’m not gonna touch on it becs I’ not finna depress myself. But it was a January morning after his first transformation and he remembers that when he woke up, he saw the cookies stuffed with dates resting on his bedside with a glass of milk that Lyall had put a cooling charm on. And they’re indulgent treats that Vivian makes for both Eids every year even though they don’t celebrate them in any other way lol. But the cookies always reminds him of family and of feeling safe in his mother’s arms, and they still work to make him feel better even after the worst thing he has ever experienced in his short life.

Remus’s love of poetry came from both sides of his parents, but it was listening to his mother recite the story of Majnun Layla in it’s original Arabic that really made him glow for the art form, and brought him to discovering his favorites like Auden and Neruda. 

There’s a ornate, wooden prayer box that has been past down on the Hussein side of the family for five generations, it was originally  meant to hold a Qran but for the past three it’s simply just been a beautiful piece of decoration. So when Vivian gave it to Remus when he was headed off to Hogwarts, little Remus asked McGonagall to help him with locking  charms so it could become a safe place for him to keep his most cherished of nicknacks ant momentos, so obviously,  she silently added a charm to keep the wood nearly unbreakable and the extension charm atop of that, like Hermione with her bag, so that he could keep as many happy memories as possible inside of it, and she prayed that there would be so many that it threatened to burst. 

The last time Remus opened the box was in 1996, when he was putting away the ring Sirius gifted him as a match to his own in some feeble promise of forever only weeks before James and Lily’s own engagement. 

Once during first year, he and the lads were staying up late, trading stories about how they got their most ridiculous scars— after seeing the one that scraped across Remus’s left shoulder blade— But it got to a point where they were all feeling a bit nippish, so they went down to the kitchens for some of the chocolate pudding that was served during dinner that night. And Remus idly asked the house elves if they could make him a batch of Kinafa because he was getting home sick and missed when he and his Mama would dash over to the city whenever they were feeling antsy, and she’d take him to their favorite hooka bar after buying a round of the dessert— which is basically sweetbread stuffed with cheese— from down the block. And they’d stay sitting beneath the starlight, and talking about her job and his lessons from school while she’d let him try a discrete puff or two and they’d laugh about everything and nothing at all.

The next time they stopped by the kitchens one of the younger house elves presented him with the snack gleefully, and it tasted fine, just not like how they do back home. So Remus smiled warmly at Tipsy, the house elf, and thanked her with real sincerity.

But his face must’ve betrayed him because after easter break, Sirius plops down a fresh batch of them on Remus’s bed before leaping into his own, casually mentioning that he saw how grossed out Remus looked when trying the one the house elves made, and it was from a restaurant close to Grimmauld so it’s not that big of a deal, and then he rushed to cursing at James for stealing his favorite pen and swearing that  if he broke it he’s gonna have hell to pay. Remus had only blushed and chuckled  with a small smile on his face when he cut himself a small piece and finished the half sheet off with the rest of their house later that night during an impromptu party that the Marauders would become infamous for in later years.

It was the summer after second year when all the marauders visited Remus back home in Wales and when they heard Vivian call him Qamar practically every other sentence, which of course lead to endless ribbing and eventually  to his nickname of Moony— even though it’s so fucking obvious and Remus loves and hates it in equal parts. God his friends are so fucking stress inducing!

Remus teaches the other marauders funny Arabic curse words and they use them in class so that they can talk shit about particularly disgusting Slytherins without them being any of the wiser. (Yes I did do this with my friends, and I’d do it again! POW! POW! POW!)

It’s from Vivian that Remus has an affinity for coffee as strong as shit, but also prefers his tea weak— specifically two sugars and a dash of milk. But seriously, if you’ve ever tried Arabian coffee you’d understand, that shit is so fucking strong it’s literally a hate crime LMFAO. But yeah, this habit is definitely a point of contention between him and Sirius— who’s actually so fucking posh no matter how much he wants to be punk, and he stands by only drinking black tea— like Merlin intended— and saying bugger off to any and all coffees. “Leave that shite to the French and Americans.” And Remus would try to keep himself from making eyes at him from across the table, because God Sirius is hot when he’s all fiery  and impassioned, even when it’s about the dumbest, most inconsequential shit.

Something that’s sort of funny is that Remus was the first among them to become a fucking pot head and could drink them all  under the table even though Sirius himself has got two stone and three inches on him. But Remus still refuses to eat ham, purely because he never grew up eating it and doesn’t care too now. Sirius had to specifically ask Euphemia and Monty to make turkey for Christmas dinner their sixth year just because he knew that Remus’s head would probably implode with the decision between being rude and not eating it or forcing himself to gag down the unfamiliar meat.

When Remus is really, really fucking drunk he definitely spends the night only speaking in Arabic! (Don’t look at me I’m trash just because I stole this from my own life lmfao) But yeah, it’s really fucking hilarious and Sirius swears to God he’s so fucking in love with him while listening to Remus ranting in the unfamiliar language. And he’s like positive that half the time he’s actually just cursing Sirius out but he doesn’t even care because it’s SO! DAMN! CUTE!  And sometimes Sirius decides to speak French at a drunk off his arse Moony, who occasionally replies back in a stiff staccato before returning back to the easy Arabic. And it’s just a mess.

Ok so sadness warning

In my head, Vivian loses her fight against breast cancer the July after the Marauders graduate from Hogwarts, and afterwords Remus gets a tattoo of her name in Arabic on his chest, and the word for soul on the nape of his neck. He locks away that battered copy of Magnun Layla in the wooden box she gave him years ago, along with a woolen  scarf that smelt like her perfume.

 It’s Sirius who buys a set of prayer beads to hang off her photo above the mantel in the flat he and Remus share, and when Remus sees it he literally feels like  he might crack open with tears, but opts to kiss Sirius thank you instead, and they stay tangled on the sofa for the rest of the day in quiet contemplation.

One night, in late 1979, while  the war was only getting worse and worse—  Sirius was hit by a cutting curse to the ribs. And it was really fucking bad, but thankfully James got him to his house in time for Lily to help and heal. He slept for the most part for nearly an entire day, but remembers snippets. Like when Remus had sprinted into the room with fear painted all over his soft features, and when James put a cooling cloth to his head. But most distinctly, Sirius recalls Remus gingerly lying besides him and Sirius talking gibberish at his boyfriend while Remus plunged his entire face against his back, eyes wet with tears and body shuttering as he squeezed him softly, saying something quietly in Arabic. Sirius obviously didn’t understand like 99.9% of it, but he did catch the word “Habibi,” which he instantly remembers as an old pet name Vivian use to call Remus with so much love it made her entire countenance sparkle. It’s an endearment  that means beloved, or darling, and it feels like Remus is begging Sirius to stay with him and Sirius’s throat is still raw from the screaming, so he can only  reply by dragging Remus’s hand up to his mouth and kissing his knuckles tenderly. And he knows that whatever he does for the rest of his days, he loves Remus Lupin with every cell in his body.

Okay, a bit more eloquently this time around, because Sevi’s head has stopped spinning mostly and now I can write this out –

 Into the Spider-verse, guys. Look I went into this movie thinking: “Okay girl, you don’t understand, like, anything about Spider-Man, but you heard the plot is good, the music is awesome, and the animation is completely off this planet, so this is gonna be good anyway.”

 And I was right. And also completely wrong.

Because it was not good, it was out of this freaking universe (yes, the pun is horrible, bear with me, head is still spinning a bit).

 This movie was pure enjoyment and amazingness and feels from the very start to finish, highlighted with on-point music and topped off with animation that left me gaping and going “What the F*CK” more than once. I was so extremely hooked on this, I didn’t even see it coming!

 Where do I start? I can’t do this chronologically, I think, just… it’s amazing from the first second on. I will just try to list up what I especially noticed and liked, because if I try to say everything I liked, I will just retell the entire movie, so I’m going for main topics and put it all under this neat thingy -

 The characters are so freaking amazing.  hat starts right up with the introduction of the characters, say, for example: Peter Parker and Miles – not only is it smooth and a nice overview, it’s also setting contrasts between the two, and very fitting for both of them (one getting a more “ordinary” introduction compared to the comic-book-hero introduction). Going over their design – gosh, the designs, people, I was not expecting to look at either Prowler or Doc Ock and be like “Oh wow, okay, those guys look cool”.

Then there’s how each character is unique, and that completely. The movie underlines how the Spider-People might have their similarities (the comic book introduction and the “let’s do this one more time”), but it also emphasizes how they are all different. Because what else? The movie is trying to teach us that everyone can wear the mask. So they feature how special and unique every last character is. That goes for the Spider-People – even both Peter Parkers – as well as Miles, who still needed to learn what makes him unique, and even the side characters or the villains. (I will have to point out the villains separately in a moment).

And each of them – aside from a few sidekicks – are fleshed out so well, in so little lines. You feel for them. You’re interested in them. You relate to them. And that with so many characters, wandering over the screen so quickly! Masterful work right there.

  The villains we gotta get out of the way here, because I was so flashed by that. You have, like, three main villains? For me, it felt like three – Kingpin, Doc Ock, and the Prowler. And each of them fulfills such a completely different villain trope, and that all in one movie!

Kingpin with the tragic backstory and actually morally white goals reached with completely wrong methods.

Doc Ock with the “crazy” scientist role who has no regards to humanity (she was fully aware what would happen to both Peter B. Parker and Kingpin’s family if they were transported into a different universe, and she didn’t give a damn).

And Prowler with little to no tragic backstory, who seems so cold and detached, until he isn’t – and makes a good choice in the last moment. (Redemption arc villain with tragic end, maybe? In any case, completely different from the first two)

   The story was just, so amazing. I’m not too familiar with Spider-Man so I couldn’t tell if it was orientating itself by any storyline that has been there before, in the comics, but I seriously loved every twist of it. Because twists there were, a lot of them. Killing the already “perfect” Spider-Man right at the start of the movie? Having the protagonist not suddenly learning from his – reluctant – teacher, but unlocking the potential that has always been there? Only to mention a few. Completely amazing. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, because I had no idea where it would go next. And that’s not even emphasizing the sheer feels or the slapstick moments, which were all amazing in their own right.  

Something I absolutely adored was that basically – literally? – no scene, no matter how seemingly small and insignificant, was there for a reason. Miles sticking to Gwen’s hair lead to her pointing out he needed to “relax”, which was later revealed to be the key to the sticking-ability and its release. Miles joking about a cape is later picked up again, and it’s used to show how Peter has come to appreciate the boy. Miles sticking to a train with the unconscious Peter in two is used again in the final fight, when he uses a train to escape Kingpin. And so on, and on. Every little detail is there for a reason, be it to reference Spider-Man and his appearance in other media, or because it’s important for the story later on.

   The music – I’m not even sure what’s better, the songs they chose (“Sunflower” and “What’s up danger” and “Scared of the Dark” are gonna stick in my head, you just know it) or the score. There was never a moment when the music felt out of place, or didn’t make my feels even stronger, or didn’t get me hyped up. Highlighting and emphasizing what was happening on screen, instead of simply filling the silence or even distracting. So well done.

   The animation. Guys. Guys, if anyone told me they used the multiverse to throw together the best of the best of animation tech for this one movie, then I wouldn’t even argue with it. I didn’t even know stuff like this was possible. These “switches” between, more like, mixes of almost-realistic style to clearly comic-book style? The Spider-People having all these different kind of animations all by itself, and all of them being on the same screen without making it look weird? Just, wow. Wow, and another wow, and I have to stop now else I never stop on that. This was, like, an entire love song (movie) to the art of animation, all by itself, and it was so fun to watch!

  Honestly, I loved every second and aspect of this movie. And I mean, honestly - They put so much work and love into this one, and it was so clear, too. How could I not love it, then? =D

this was almost too easy for me to make. i love every single one of our babies and just found myself thinking about what it would be like to compile the good, bad, and ugly of life as a ghost. i think i’ve successfully done that with this. (or at least i hope... it’s a whopping twenty-nine songs long!)  duration: 1 hr 49 m / listen here. explanations under read more. 

001. ‘R.I.P 2 my youth’ - the neighbourhood: it’s all about death and losing yourself. what better way to start than this? the push and pull between escaping death and anticipating it all the while. many of our muses can relate. “put me in the dirt, let me be with the stars.” 

002. ‘angel’ - the weeknd: chosen mostly for the song title but the eighties vibes of the song remind me of phaedra. 

003. ‘when you’re smiling’ - louis armstrong: an antonio centric song. this song is telling of the kind of music antonio listened to later in his life. 

004. ‘liability’ - lorde: centers around the way the women in this group feel. at one point or another, they’d been made to feel useless and worthless (mostly by men). this song is about those feelings of helplessness and loneliness. “you’re all going to watch me disappear into the sun.” 

005. ‘you’d be surprised’ - eddie cantor: antonio centric. an upbeat song of the 1920s that i think is kind of comical for someone like tonio to listen to. later half of the song reminds me of vincent as well. “he’s got the face of an angel but he’s got the devil in his eyes.” 

006. ‘shallow’ - bradley cooper & lady gaga: vince and vivian centric. mostly because i couldn’t do without letting vivian’s voice be heard in this playlist. also, i think ‘in the shallow’ is exactly how a lot of the ghosts feel being trapped in this in-between stage. 

007. ‘Записка’ - klavdiya shulzhenko: inessa centric. with extensive research done on russian music in the thirties and forties, i figured someone who pushed the envelope like inessa would probably listen to russian women sing rather than men. 

008. ‘kiss of fire’ - georgia gibbs: alexei centric. one of the reasons why i chose this song was for its intense sounds but upon research, i also discovered that the artist was the child of russian immigrants so even though this wouldn’t have been common knowledge, i couldn’t help myself. 

009. ‘do i wanna know?’ - arctic monkeys: david centric. modern as fuck but this is beat and some of the lyrics remind me of nothing but david. “have you no idea that you’re in deep? i’ve dreamt about you nearly every night this week.” 

010. ‘jailhouse rock’ - elvis presley: vincent centric. being that this was a song in the 50′s i think it’d be the perfect look into vince in his youth and what kind of music he was inspired by. (he won’t tell you but he wanted to be a smooth lady killer like elvis.) 

011. ‘ghost town’ - adam lambert: also chosen for the title but also an upbeat take on this otherwise dead playlist. (pun intended) 

012. ‘what’d i say pt. 1′ - ray charles: alexei centric. i think he’d listen to sultry iconic beats like this. also it’s ray charles so i couldn’t resist. 

013. ‘i’ve got you under my skin’ - frank sinatra: david centric. david is a fancy boy and therefore, this is the kind of song you’d catch him dancing to. i also think the title is clever as fuck (hellooo?? killer!!!)

014. ‘ghost’ - sky ferreira: chosen for the title. i love this song and the soft guitar. 

015. ‘raindrops (an angel cried)’ - ariana grande: an interlude of sorts for me. strangely befitting of the kind of theme i’m going for. 

016. ‘i can’t get no satisfaction’ - the rolling stones: vincent centric. sixties, vince is suddenly into rock and wants to be cool. 

017. ‘these boots are made for walkin’ - nancy sinatra: frances centric. the kind of music she would have listened to in her teens. songs like this heavily shaped the path that ended in her demise. 

018. ‘young and beautiful’ - lana del rey: antonio & inessa centric. this version was made for the great gatsby so some of the sounds are very twenties which i like. i also think that it’s very telling of their love. 

019. ‘another one bites the dust’ - queen: phaedra centric. a quick jump into the eighties to liven things up. you mentioned phaedra’s love of rock when she was alive so i thought i’d pay homage to that with such a timeless jam. 

020. ‘fear and loathing’ - marina and the diamonds: mallory centric. just thought i’d throw one song in there which i think captures the scary creepy vibes associated with ghosts. could pretty much apply to everyone involved which i also like. 

021. ‘angel of the morning’ - merrilee rush: francesca centric. this came right as francesca died and i think it’s a song that reveals that softer side of her. beyond being the radical feminist of her time, francesca really only craved what everyone else loved even if just temporary. 

022. ‘sign of the times’ - harry styles: i simply couldn’t go without adding this song because the lyrics just really remind me of our babies. “you can’t bribe the door on your way to the sky. you look pretty good down here, but you ain’t really good.” 

023. ‘a million years ago’ - adele: i think this also works perfectly for the vibes i’m trying to go for. this song just really reminds me of the struggles with being stuck. “i miss the air, i miss my friends. i miss my mother i miss it when life was a party to be thrown but that was a million years ago.” 

024. ‘angel’ - madonna: chosen with phaedra in mind but i think is also the perfect happy telling of the honeymoon phase some of these ghosties will be going through when they first meet / fall for each other which i think is a lighter outlook on everything they’ve gone through. 

025. ‘young god’ - halsey: francesca & alexei centric. not only do the vibes fit perfectly for this playlist but i also think the lyrics really remind me of what it’s like for frances to be with lex romantically. also these lyrics? lex. “he says ‘oh baby girl don’t cut on my edges. i’m the king of everything and oh, my tongue is a weapon. there's a light in the crack that's separating your thighs and if you wanna go to heaven you should fuck me tonight"

026. ‘lust for life’ - lana del rey & the weeknd: just a really pretty song that i think encompasses ghost vibes even though it’s mainly about wanting to live. i think once everyone meets their match, they’ll want nothing more than to continue basking in this in-between space that they’re in. 

027. ‘ghostin”- ariana grande: chosen mostly for the title but it’s also about moving on after the death of a loved one so i thought it was fitting. “he just comes to visit me when i’m dreaming every now and then.” 

028. ‘autumn leaves’ - ed sheeran: another heartwrenching song about death. always makes me cry but a necessary component to build up to the next song. 

029. ‘heaven is a place on earth’ - belinda carlisle: another 80s jam! wrapping up this playlist with a happy bow a la tiny.

Instinct A: Like it says on the label; instinct of a real high level. Almost on the level of foresight into the future, good luck ambushing or lying to her unless you have some equally bs skill I guess. Instinct is higher than Saber Alter (maybe less rage??? fuck if I know)

Santa’s Gift EX:  Despite the EX label, her ability to chose gifts suck and is more likely to traumatize the receiver (or it would if I didn’t fear giving out the wrong gifts)

Magic Resistance A: Despite ditching the armor, her magic resistance hasn’t dropped, and has actually gone up. Protection of Christmas maybe?

Riding A: Even if she doesn’t ride her sleigh very often, her experience in life plus class advantages has led to her riding skill bumping up a level.

Command spells:  Think I read somewhere high magic resistance allows increased resistance, but still a restriction. Bane of every Servant tbh.

Mana consumption: constantly shooting off her NP and enhancing her specs with mana and fighting in a very mana intensive manner requires a lot of mana. She may have the heart of a dragon but I guess this is where all her fried chicken goes to. Hmm tbh if that’s the case more caloric intensive foods might be better (like potatoes or smth) but whatever. Also if you can cancel the usage of mana she’d be a sitting duck I guess (gimme a thread abt her needing rescue...someday...lol)

Decreased stats: For Some Fucking Reason DW decided to decrease some stats (like Agility and Endurance) while increasing others (Luck p much) and I haven’t written a whole lot abt this but I imagine there are times where she fumbles (probably) bc she’s not used to no armor or smth. Also she’s carrying a huge ass sack of presents in one hand and I’ll be shocked if it doesn’t get in the way at times. Probably are some other restrictions I can’t recall

I put a lot of thought into my Gen/Irene mix and even though this is probably an unnecessary and uninteresting amount of rambling I wanted to get those thoughts written down somewhere.

In the Forest by The Coral: so originally I was going to have the first song be Green Garden by Laura Mvula, but as the playlist progressed, I realized that neither of the two versions I have worked with the sound of the other songs.  Luckily, this song worked even better.  This is meant to be Gen seeing Irene in the garden--so some things don’t add up, yeah, it’s in a forest instead and the woman is sleeping.  But I felt it really captured that feeling of them both being outsiders and him watching her and realizing how lonely she is.  And the line “you’ll never know how much I [love] you” fits that time period in their lives because I think at this point Gen doesn’t think he’s got much of a chance.

A Fine Line by Louise Page: partly I just put this on because I’m obsessed with Louise Page’s album and partly because I needed another song.  I think that, for it to make sense for Irene to fall in love with Gen so quickly, there was a certain amount of... interest? earlier on.  She definitely is a bit obsessed with him, and I think it’s mostly because he is a political threat.  But I do wonder, in hindsight, if some of that was fascination or attraction, even if she didn’t realize.  So this song is meant to be for when they meet during The Thief; Irene hates Gen, but we know that she’s going to end up loving him.  And the “I gotta be gentle when I start to love” fits in later, because she’s hurt him so badly and does in many ways have to be very gentle with him.  I also think that the bit about wanting to shed weight from your heavy heart but feeling like there’s no time in which to do it is a very Irene sentiment, specifically end of QoA.

Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs: this goes back to being more of a Gen song, where he’s got this perspective as an Eddisian that none of the Attolians have, and so he sees Irene differently from them.  This song is very repetitive and the main line is “They don’t love you like I love you”.  I read this as a) many people don’t love Irene at all, and b) many people who do love her love a false idea of who she is.  I do think Gen put her on a bit of a pedestal when he was younger (read: pre-QoA) but because he’s seen another side of her, he views her as more of a person than other people.  He also knows that even though she’s very strong in some ways, she’s fragile in others--I think most people see her as strong all around.

From Eden by Hozier: I do feel a bit bad about implying that Gen is the Devil, esp. since that’s completely the wrong type of mythology.  I thought of this song for the mix pretty late in the game, and it was because of pronunciation--due to my URL, I almost always pronounce “Eddis” with a long “e”.  So it sounds pretty close to “Eden”.  I was thinking that a lot of Hozier songs are kinda Gen/Irene, and those two things combined to make me use this song.  There are deffo some lines that don’t quite work, but the first two verses?  Those describe how Gen sees Irene so well.  This playlist is somewhat chronological, and this song is supposed to be for the beginning and middle of QoA, where Gen is scouting out Attolia and plotting.  “But I might be hoping about this/Oh what a sin” is just very much... him hoping that maybe she won’t completely hate him and his plan.  I’ve realized, writing this, that there’s a significant point in their chronology I don’t have a song for--the beginning of QoA.  There are song that definitely reference it, but I never put a song in for the hand scene.  Interesting.

Can’t Help Falling In Love With You covered by Fleet Foxes: okay so yeah, of course this was gonna be on there.  It’s where my Gen/Irene tag (which is also the title of the mix) comes from.  But it’s not just my Ultimate Gen/Irene Song because of the hand pun!  In many ways, the hand pun is more of a nice bonus.  The “Wise men say/Only fools rush in” is everyone thinking this is a terrible idea and that Gen’s making a mistake.  I’ve used this song for them long before TaT came out, but the line about the river gains a whole new meaning after that.  And the “Take my whole life too” isn’t just referring to “oh haha she cut off his hand”; it’s really more about the part where he gives her the knives back.

Hello My Old Heart by The Oh Hello’s: I feel like a few of the songs on this mix are ones that tend to be overused for ship mixes--Can’t Help Falling In Love, this one, and Flaws.  But they all fit Gen and Irene well!  This is a very, very Irene song, referencing all of the emotional reflection she deals with more towards the end of QoA.  Especially the part where she thinks Gen’s been poisoned.  She’s realized that she loves him, or she could, and she’s worried if she’ll be able to deal with that or show it because she’s been so emotionally closed off for so long.  And then boom!  She thinks he’s dead!  There are lines about being left alone after loving for just a little while that I think fit in very nicely with her emotional state.  Then the end of the song offers the possibility that the singer will open up and love again.

After the Storm by Mumford and Sons: so I think a long time ago I saw a post or something where someone said they thought this was a good Gen/Irene song?  I agree.  The beginning is a bit more Gen than Irene, at the beginning of QoA--on his knees and out of luck.  But the chorus is about Irene to me, learning that after her previous terrible husband, love actually can be a good thing and it can make her happy.  The “flowers in your hair” part also inspired me to put flowers in her hair in the cover art.  There’s also the “I’m scared of what’s behind and what’s before” line.  They’re both scared that their past is going to ruin their relationship, and then it’s also leaning towards the impending volcano.

Flaws (Acoustic Version) by Bastille: this is another song where it doesn’t totally fit.  I think that both Gen and Irene bury their flaws, and neither actually displays them.  But a big part of the sort of smokescreen that Gen puts up to hide what he’s actually like makes it look like he is very open about his flaws, and I think up until maybe the middle of QoA, Irene falls for it.  I love the message in this song just in general, that your flaws are part of who you are and like... if you completely got rid of them you’d be a different person.  I think Gen and Irene do wish that they hadn’t hurt each other so much, but if they hadn’t, would they have even ended up together?  (There’s a fic I wanna write about that, actually.)  And then there’s the “There’s a hole in my soul/Can you fill it?” part, which matches up with Irene wanting love and affection but not being able to ask for it or get it.

NFWMB by Hozier: like I said, Hozier does a lot of Gen/Irene #moods.  Realizing that this song worked for them and that I now had the beginnings of a playlist was what made me put the mix together.  This song is meant to be both of them about each other, during KoA.  Gen and Irene are badasses, okay?  And I think they really admire and respect each other’s badassery.  That’s why I chose quotes in the 8tracks annotations that really reflect times that they’ve both shown significant Big Dick Energy.  There’s honestly not a huge emotional thing I was trying to convey here.  While this song’s tone is somewhat dark, it’s meant to be a relatively happy song in context.  It’s basically just Gen and Irene thinking, “Wow, it’s so hot when my spouse does something really badass and scares the shit out of people.”

F-Fun Times: Sebastian’s true self is still a bit enigmatic, however I feel that the real, demon, Sebastian doesnt really find many activities to be fun except for things like the manipulation of others or killing things (specifically killing sprees). Regarding his affinity for cats, i feel that playing with kitties would be the closest, if not the only, human “activity” he finds entertaining. As to whether Sebastian prefers to be in a group or alone, Sebastian doesnt really care for other demons, and clearly he isnt fond of angels or reapers either. Though Sebastian finds humans interesting, i think he finds them enjoyable in the way we enjoy looking at lobsters in a tank before we eat them. Its fun to watch them move around and interact with eachother, hell even after you take one home you might name it or think its cute, but ultimately its still food and you intend to eat it, not take it to the park and have a picnic because you enjoy its company. So needless to say Sebastian prefers to be alone.

J-Jokes: Clearly Sebastian is very talented in telling jokes but i think thats simply a product of being alive for so long and the fact that humans’ sense of humor hasnt really change through the centuries. Sebastian enjoys possessing the ability to make humans laugh as he enjoys being the center of attention and earning praise from humans. Though I dont believe he finds much humor in what humans find funny, i do believe he has his own sense of humor and for a demon he’s pretty giggly. For the most part, Sebastian makes himself laugh (especially in the form of puns), though he oftens finds humor in the foolishness of other (particularly Ciel). Sebastian is pretty quick to get a joke that would be considered funny to humans of any century, however, jokes that pertain to current or recent events tend to take him a bit longer, especially if he hasnt been amongst humans in a few decades. I think as the centuries went on, i.e. entering the 20th and 21st centuries, Sebastian would be even slower to get jokes as things move incredibly fast during the modern era. He’d finish a contract in the 80s and come back in 2010’s and be completely lost even though it had only been 30 years. What on earth was a Vine? Why did humans find plants so funny all of a sudden. Wait…when they say vine they aren’t referring to the botanical organism? He’d be one of those people that catches on right as a trend is ending or even way after it has ended because modern era trends, especially in humor, tend to last for months at the very most; which would be like miliseconds to a demon who experiences 10 years like 10 minutes.

P-Personality: First and foremost, I think that an intelligent partner would suit him best. As it is, Sebastian is alot smarter than the majority of humans, reapers, and quite possibly other demons, so regardless of who he chooses as a partner, they need to be able to keep up with his mental abilities. Next on the list of importance, I’d say maturity is something Sebastian values. Sebastian finds immature people destestable and someone’s level maturity makes or breaks his perception of them. After those two traits I think things tend to get a bit more flexible, I feel like Sebastian would prefer someome who had a sense of adventure, he doesnt care for boredom or laziness so someone who would want to get up and do things, or go with him to obscure places would be right up his alley. Someone with a unique perspective on the world would be desirable as well, Sebastian finds humans incredibly perplexing, so a human that even other humans have difficulty deciphering would be attractive to him as he likes a challenge. Speaking of challenges, he wouldnt want someone who’d come to him too easily, though he wouldnt want to work terribly hard either, he likes the chase but only when he knows there’s a reward waiting for him at the end. Sebastian would also find perseverance attractive, especially if it was facing something they feared or a task that proved to be incredibly challenging. I feel like he’d prefer a thrill-seeker as well. Most importantly though, he’d want someone to be able to completely accept and cherish his true form. Sebastian loves being a demon so someone who loved him like he loved himself would be absolutely necessary.

Ciel:A-Affection: Ciel would definitely be the type of s/o to buy you a diamond necklace before he’d think to give you a hug. Ciel hates physical contact, period. But i do think that he would tolerate it if his s/o really wanted physical affection and they were the one to initial it. Ciel’s not too good with words of romance either, so the majority of his love would be shown through the purchasing of items or perhaps the rememberance of a favorite meal or song and providing his s/o with such on frequent occasions. Ultimately he is still pretty distant and any type of affection would be rare. Though I think Ciel would prefer a distant partner who wouldnt demand alot of his attention, i feel like a clingy partner would complement his personality better. The reason being that Ciel acts distant and cold to protect himself, deep down he stills craves affection like any other human, especially one that has been broken. He’d need a partner that is able to understand this and is able to compensate for his lack of means to show affection by being clingy or affection enough for the both of them.

F-Fun Times: Ciel primarily enjoys activities that challenge him mentally, chess(obviously), reading, etc. On the other hand, Ciel is definitely not fond of any type of physical activity. To be even mediocre at anything that involves physical exertion, he has to put in his all. Ciel isnt the most social person, he’ll be social if he has too and he’s pretty damn good at acting but if he has the choice he prefers to do things he finds entertaining by himself. Ciel is pretty introverted and finds the company of others incredibly draining even if he enjoys the person or people themselves.

J-Jokes: Oh no no no, Ciel is t e r r i b l e when it comes to telling jokes. Ciel tends to be very left brained and unfortunately for him, that leaves him pretty empty handed in the comedy department, as we obviously saw during the Circus Arc when it took him hours to make Undertaker (a man who is notoriously giggly) produce even a miniscule chuckle. Ciel enjoys puns on occasion and only when theyre tasteful. Ciel is more so a fan of witty comments but an intelligent pun tickles his fancy every once in a while. However he hates Sebastian’s constant puns (mostly because he is the subject of them). Ciel is actually pretty slow to get most jokes. He doesnt really understand many types of common humor unless its witty or sarcastic. He really doesnt care for humor in general, to be honest, he hates smiling and being happy, it reminds him of the dwindling time he has left, and how he is technically on borrowed time. Ciel hates humor because he almost feels guilty for laughing or enjoying himself. He feels as if he doesnt deserve happiness after what he has sacrificed and for the selfish reasons he did so. In short, humor is not a friend of Ciel.

P-Personality: Ciel would best be suited by someone who has a personality opposite to his. Ciel isnt cold by nature, Ciel is cold because of a traumatic experience. Ciel’s aloof demeanor is more so a shield rather than a legitimate personality trait. Underneath that shield, Ciel’s a sweet person, he craves love and happiness just like anyone else, perhaps more than most people because he has been so fiercely denied it. Because Ciel is no longer able to access those feelings of love and happiness he would best be complimented by someone who could do that for him. Someone who could provide him with positivity and allow him to view things more optimistically would be ideal. Though, he would best be suited by someone with a calmer persona, they would have to be down to earth as he would most likely view them as his stability. Someone with a motherly aura who could take care of him instead of him having to take care of them. That type of person would attract him and be an incredibly good fit for his personality. Other personality traits wouldnt hold as much merit with him, except for maybe intelligence, Ciel wouldnt be fond of a partner who couldnt keep up with him mentally.

F-Fun Times: Undertaker enjoys activities that have to do with the strange and unconventional. Undertaker enjoys things he doesn’t understand, I feel like that’s why he’s so fascinated wih death. Death is quite the anomaly and he very much enjoys the feeling of curiosity. Honestly Undertaker is pretty fond of gore as well, he likes cutting things open in his free time and seeing whats inside, not only because he is fascinated with how the insides of the creature work but because he enjoys the look of bloodied flesh, as gross as it sounds. Aside from things that pertain to death, Undertaker enjoys other unconventional activities as long as they dont bore him. He doesnt much care whether or not theyre productive activities, however he cant stand idle activities that completely waste his time. He’s pretty lazy but he doesnt take pleasure in wasting his immortality on things that serve no ultimate purpose. Discovering new, completely bizarre things is his favorite activity. He doesnt much care whether or not he has any company to do this with, he does what he wants regardless of anyone else. Though if he had to chose he would probably prefer the company of a companion to assist him in his activities.

J-Jokes: This man L O V E S jokes. I mean, he straight up values them in the same way normal people value currency. Undertaker isn’t particularly good at telling jokes himself but he certainly appreciates the art of comedy. He enjoys puns, he enjoys anything that might make him laugh. However, his favorite type of comedy is either slapstick or simply watching someone unknowingly make a fool of themselves. Undertaker is most fond of the comedy that is unexpected and happens naturally. He is always the first to get a joke. Jokes to him are a fine art, and honestly even if he doesnt get a joke, the fact that he couldnt understand makes him laugh anyway. The only jokes Undertaker doesnt enjoy are corny jokes. If unexpected/slapstick comedy is caviar to him, dad jokes are dollar store spray cheese. He hates dad/corny jokes, he finds them terribly overused and believes the only people who find them funny have a horribly underdeveloped sense of humor.

P-Personality: Undertaker would best fit with someone who is somewhat similar to him. Undertaker enjoys happy-go-lucky people whom see the beauty in laughter and pursue happiness. Despite being consistently cast off in the dark shadows of death and the grimness of grim reapers, Undertaker values optimism and positivity. Undertaker also values uniqueness and is drawn to those that possess strange qualities or quirks. He likes strange things and would prefer a partner who could satiate his hungry for unconventionality. Undertaker would also want someone who could make him laugh and value humor in the same way he did. He would clash with someone who was too serious, Undertaker has seen a lifetime of seriousness and gloom, he couldnt stand a partner who took their time in the world for granted and spent it focusing on the bad instead of trying to achieve happiness.

3. Sign: Scorpio (I always feel like I don't fit Scorpio descriptions at all, cause they're like "sexy and mysterious and confident and super organized" and I am like the exact opposite of all of those things, but it is what it is)

4. Height: Five foot five and three-quarters inches, barefoot and if I stretch. The orthotic sneakers and inserts add a fair bit, though; when I'm walking around I'm functionally about five seven.

5. Hobbies: I'm not even awake enough to word the requisite terrible pun, so I'm just gonna headbutt @camshaft22 here ❤️ (Reading, writing, knitting, singing, karate. I'll learn basically any craft to a fair level of competence and then never do it again, but those are the ones I can think of that have stuck)

6. Favorite colors: Blue. Royal blue especially. Some shades of green, but there are a lot of green shades I dislike (especially the more brown-shaded ones) and only a few blue ones I dislike (mostly for reasons unrelated to the actual color). Jewel tones and neons in general, I like very vibrant colors.

Favorite books: Lord of the Rings, Starfighters of Adumar, Gone-Away Lake/Return to Gone-Away, The Cricket in Times Square, Digger, Chris Claremont's original run on Uncanny X-Men (which is technically fifteen years of comics issues, but neener ;S). I read Cricket in Times Square at age two or three and I'm pretty sure it materially influenced the OTP dynamic I've gravitated to ever since. ^_^

8. Last song I listened to: Uh. God only knows. The last audio thing I deliberately chose to listen to, as opposed to muzak or ambient TV noises coming through the door, was an episode of Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men, which was recommended me by the excellent @ravenskyewalker (I may be mistagging them) many moons ago. I only listen to three podcasts regularly, and this is by far the most structured -- no live kitchen beagles at *all*. XD I like it partly because I know and love the source material, partly because Jay is the kind of thinky and articulate person I aspire to be. (Although Jay does a lot less screaming about his personal life on the internet. ^_^)

9. Last movie I watched: Seriously, these memes are designed for people who do a *lot* more media engagement than I have lately. I just haven't had the spoons to watch movies since I got kicked out. Is there something like extroversion/introversion for visual media watching? Because hanging around live people in realtime energizes me, which I know it doesn't for a lot of y'all, but I mostly find movies and TV really draining, even when it's a show I like, like SG-1 or Leverage.

10. Inspiration/muse: You know, my first author I betaed for had a "muse", which was a little wooden wolf creature that sat on her computer and she wrote little dialogues with him in the author notes. He was intended to herd plotbunnies or eat them or something. His name was Katchi. So that's *my* association with the term "muse". Apparently it's more commonly used to refer to a character one RPs, but that makes mine Wes, and *that* just brings up mental images involving urns, which nobody needs at this hour. ;P

12. Meaning behind your url: It's a song title. Canadian folk music, less depressing than most. If you YouTube it, be sure you get the Stan Rogers version and not one of the inferior covers. (Apparently most people who know this song and my association with it think of me as primarily the narrator, but I tend to think of myself as primarily the ship, which is sort of distressing by this time because people keep having to rescue me. :P) I'm looking for a new url, to change to if and when I ever get out of this situation, but the only one I've come up with that really clicked for me yet was pretty damn personal and also people would have to spell "statistician". [Trust me guys, I’ve been a lot of thought into the idea of ‘what if the Tres Horny Boys were different classes,’ and I have to say, I really needed to share the idea with you guys!]

[Now, I say AU Concept because it’s technically not one AU, but at least three AUs! Each AU Concept is separated by different themes, and they are under the read more because I’m not sure that anyone would want a big post like this on their blog. There’s also a small chart in there. His skin is blue. “Why,” you may ask? There’s two answers to that.

There is a a Wild Magic Surge effect that makes your skin “a vibrant shade of blue” that can be dismissed (according to the Wild Magic Surge chart I have with me here) with remove curse

... okay, so in canon Merle has “a blood sugar thing” and I just noticed that at level 15, a monk can get Timeless Body, which would make it that he doesn’t need to eat anymore. More so, at level 13, he can learn Tongue of the Sun and Moon, which means that he would be able to understand and be understood by all languages-

He still can’t cast Zone of Truth as a monk though, so...

Okay, so in episode 50, it’s mentioned that Magnus knows a little bit on playing a musical instrument, and one of the thoughts that have come to me since then is “Magnus as a Bard” and now I can’t not bring it up

Pairing: Tango (Dance x Lust)

A series of blips with a pairing that so far, I think I might be the only one to have ever written about. (If I’m wrong PLEASE link me this other mysterious fic)

Lust had a problem. And it wasn't the usual problem, mind you, although that seemed to be a thing so often that it hardly classified as a problem anymore. No, this was a real problem, in the form of this other version of himself. Yeah, most of the other versions of him were entertaining in some form or another, especially that little Blueberry from UnderSwap but this...this was just excessive. Lust loved to dance. It was something he made a lot of use of in his world, and while his usual style of dancing wouldn't really go over well with this crowd, he wasn't permanently stuck in sex mode. He could fucking dance like a "normal" monster, thank you very much. And hey, here he was, in a multidimensional Sans party, music blasting, a mostly empty dance floor thanks to the fact that the majority of Sanses were lazy assholes. In other words, the perfect opportunity to show off, impress some people possibly, maybe get laid, if he decided to go with that. If it wasn't for this problem. No, Lust didn't care that he came from a place called DanceTale. Last he heard, DanceTale was not StealTheFuckingSpotlightTale. He huffed quietly and chugged the remainder of his drink, watching the smug asshole as a new song started. He seemed to be happy with this new song, and he flipped his hood up and tugged his fingerless gloves up on his hands before starting in with the new rhythm. Screw it. Lust could take the spotlight from anybody. Completely screw it. He slammed his empty glass back down on the counter, much to the annoyance of whichever Sans was bartending, and made a motion like he was cracking his knuckles. He walked straight out to the dance floor, neatly sidestepping Sci and Red who were talking quietly about something or another. As he drew close enough to catch his attention, the other paused for a moment, seeming to take in his outfit and demeanor. Then the little shit made some very judgemental eye contact and fucking smirked. Well. Lust had long since grown to enjoy proving first impressions wrong.

"Like this?" Lust asked, beginning to raise his arms above his head and rock his hips in a way that was very much not the way Dance had just shown him. Dance snickered. "No, you dork. You're doing it on purpose now. It's like this" As Dance demonstrated the move again, Lust let his arms drop and his eyes soften into a real smile. He let his gaze wander over the other for a moment, but for some reason, he kept getting drawn back up to the other's face. It was so much like his own, but when the other was in the middle of a dance, he would get this look in his eyes of intense concentration, as though the most important thing in the multiverse in that moment was the way he was moving his hips. Privately, Lust agreed.

"I still don't entirely understand why these two got married" Dance muttered under his breath to Lust. Lust snorted in response and said "Hey, I mean it makes some kind of sense. The angriest of us and the most logical of us. The marital debates will be lively for sure" Dance made a face at him, as though questioning his logic, but Lust ignored him completely, instead letting himself sway slightly with the slow song that had just started playing. He turned to Dance, who now also seemed a bit caught up in the song. He was tapping his fingers on the table and shifting his feet as though imagining the kind of choreography he could be planning for this. Lust just stared for a moment, taking the entirety of his friend in, and then he found himself asking "Hey, do you wanna dance?" "I always want to dance, but I don't really have anything planned for this one" the other murmured distractedly, still nodding his head and tapping. Lust smiled at that, then elaborated. "I meant with me, you fucking loser" Well that certainly got his attention. Dance was starting at him open-mouthed, and Lust felt his soul sinking in his ribcage. "Hey don't worry about it, I was just--" "Yeah, sure let's do it!" the other said, jumping up and offering Lust his hand. Lust just sat frozen for a moment, staring at the other in surprise, until Dance got impatient and just dragged him to his feet. They made their way together to the crowded dance floor, and there was a split second of awkward unsurety before Lust pulled Dance closer to him and took the lead, spinning them around and through the other couples. Dance's face lit up as he laughed in surprise, and Lust smiled at the open expression. "Why are you the one leading here?" Dance asked, somewhat breathlessly. "I'm supposed to be the expert!" "Because I take charge in every sort of situation" joked Lust, shooting the other the sauciest of his winks. Dance broke out in laughter again, his deep blue blush darkening his face. Almost unconsciously, Lust pulled him closer, and then, as the chorus swelled, he gripped Dance by the hips and lifted him into the air as he spun. Dance, as a result of years of practice, instinctively pushed himself up with his hands on Lust's shoulders, blushing even more deeply when he seemed to realize they were doing this in public. Lust laughed again, placing him back onto the ground and effortlessly moving back into their previous position. "You've been practicing!" Dance managed to gasp out through his giggling. "Of course I have! You never know when you might have an opportunity to dance with someone pretty" Dance snorted at that. "I'm not pretty" "Aw, come on, don't say that, you've got a great face, at least" "We have the same face, asshole. Besides, that's not my point. I'm not pretty, I'm totally badass." At the increased volume of Lust's laughter, Dance attempted to frown, failing miserably as immersed as he was in Lust's contagious laugh. "I'm serious! Come on, I breakdance, and I wear leather gloves and stuff!" "You're a dancer! Dancers aren't badass!" "Try ballet then tell me that again with a straight face!" Lust snorted, then lifted Dance again. This time, the other performed some sort of kicking maneuver that took advantage of Lust's inexperience and ended with Dance leading. As the song ended, Dance dipped him, grinning and winking. "That was pretty badass, if I do say so myself!" "Just drop me right here, man. Then I can live out my humiliation in peace"

"I listen to you more than anyone else other than Papyrus! This is different!" "How the hell is it--" "You're more than a little biased when it comes to sex! For fuck's sake, your name is Lust!" Lust wanted to punch something. He wanted to fire up his blasters and blow up a tree so that he wouldn't try to dust the monster in front of him. "I didn't chose the damn name!" "Well whoever did really found something that fits you, since all you ever fucking do is sleep with anything that moves!" "Are you fucking kidding me?" "No, I think you're kidding yourself! You can't just waltz into my world and start telling my brother it's okay to lose his virginity to someone he's been dating for two months!" "He asked! I answered with my honest opinion!" "I don't fucking want or need your honest opinion! I need you to realize that maybe you're kind of a whore!" "Oh, no, I'm so hurt, it's not like that's a mainstream occupation in my world or anything. Stop being such a bigot and realize that your brother is almost 21 years old. He's old enough to ask advice from whoever he wants and get an honest answer from it, and he is mostly certainly old enough to have sex!" "I have no idea where to even start that conversation" Despite the still-simmering anger in his soul, Lust reached out and put a hand his friend's shoulder. "All I had to do was ask him how his relationship was going. I get the feeling he really wants to be talking with you" Dance looked up for a split second, then rubbed at his eye sockets. "I know. I'm just not ready for him to grow up" "He kinda did that without your consent" Lust said, chucking. He could feel his anger fading, replaced by the calm contentment that usually accompanied being with Dance. Dance groaned loudly, not responding. "Also," started Lust casually "please don't ever insult me for things that my world considers to be normal. I'm not ashamed, and I don't need someone trying to make me feel like I should be. Especially not you, Dance" He looked up, holding the eye contact this time. "I'm really sorry, Lust" he said firmly. "I won't do it again" There was a long pause as Lust regarded him. "Thank you"

"Truth or dare?" "Truth" Lust and Dance were laying in the soft grass of a clearing somewhere in Waterfall, looking up at the crystals that decorated the ceiling. Everything was vaguely wet, but neither of them particularly cared. Dance had let Lust borrow one of his many thick sweatshirts, so they were both plenty warm. "Biggest fear?" Lust scooted closer to the other innocently, so that their sides were pressed up against one another. "Ending up alone" he said dryly. "Cliché as hell, I know" "Hey, if it helps any, I'm afraid of spiders" "Yeah, I knew that, actually. Truth or dare?" "Ehhh...truth" "Did you actually like the pie I made yesterday?" "...I plead the fifth" Lust's laughter rang unbridled over the clearing as Dance grinned and held out his hand for the other to take. Lust looked at him, surprised, but Dance just kept his hand out. Lust smiled softly, taking the other's hand and lacing his fingers with the other's. "Truth or Dare?"
