Very normal about this scene. I've watched it a regular number of times. something so innately homoerotic about Mulder fixing Scully's necklace after he humiliated himself defending her profile
[image descriptions:
image 1 mulder and scully are in a quiet corner of the police station. both wearing suits. a shot over mulders shoulder scullys hair is tied back. her necklace of kilter. caption "scullly: it seems like you were acting very territorial"
image 2 shot is over scullys shoulder. Mulder reaches toward her chest. caption: mulder: "of course I was"
image 3 Over mulder shoulder as he pulls scullys necklace so it will fall in the correct postion. its a heart locket. scully looks up to him with bedroom eyes.

Assassin’s Creed 2
Tumblr media
Completed: 9/5/2022
Playtime: 21h 14m
My Ezio looked nothing like the above photo.
In fact, my Ezio was such a bumbling himbo he’d frequently kill civilians to break his fall when slipping off ledges because he jumped the wrong way. I love him for it.
Assassin’s Creed II is frequently hailed as an excellent game, one of the best of all time, let alone in the bloated series itself. I’m here to tell you that folks - it ain’t great. It’s quite bad, strung together by tape and wire. It introduces so many inconsequential mechanics, like a heat system, multiple weapons, and a…gun, that are all so utterly useless you can ignore them the entire game. Ezio has the ability to leap from building to building, but it’s often times faster to walk on the ground. Guards increase their alert level the more brashly you do things in public, but lose you the minute you're above eye level. You can hire people to hide in plain site despite wearing the most outlandish costume in all of Renaissance Italy.
And you know what? It’s some of the most fun I’ve had playing a game in a long time.
It’s just pure silliness. I’m sure the family-revenge plot was hailed as the best writing of its time, a real serious yarn about conspiracy and bloodlust that showed games could do real writing. Nowadays it’s just dang goofy. Ezio is goofy! He never really became an Assassin in my game, so much as he just bumbled his way through all of the assassinations by jumping and mashing the instant-kill button. I’m actually upset the Steam Deck doesn’t record footage because this post would be filled with Italy’s Funniest Home Video moments.
What the game lacks in polish and solid mechanics, it makes up for in historical detail. When the game wasn’t being goofy, it was so cozy. Alleys and street corners, piazzas and churches, I enjoyed walking and climbing around the re-imagined cities I’ve explored first hand and soaking in the atmosphere. As a historical reconstruction, it was fun an entertaining.
Shame they didn't let me kill the pope in the end.

the fact that shakespeare was a playwright is sometimes so funny to me. just the concept of the "greatest writer of the English language" being a random 450-year-old entertainer, a 16th cent pop cultural sensation (thanks in large part to puns & dirty jokes & verbiage & a long-running appeal to commoners). and his work was made to be watched not read, but in the classroom teachers just hand us his scripts and say "that's literature"
just...imagine it's 2450 A.D. and English Lit students are regularly going into 100k debt writing postdoc theses on The Simpsons screenplays. the original animation hasn't even been preserved, it's literally just scripts and the occasional SDH subtitles.txt. they've been republished more times than the Bible
#due to the Great Data Decay academics write viciously argumentative articles on which episodes aired in what order#at conferences professors have known to engage in physically violent altercations whilst debating the air date number of household viewers#90% of the couch gags have been lost and there is a billion dollar trade in counterfeit “lost copies”#serious note: i'll be honest i always assumed it was english imperialism that made shakespeare so inescapable in the 19th/20th cent#like his writing should have become obscure at the same level of his contemporaries#but british imperialists needed an ENGLISH LANGUAGE (and BRITISH) writer to venerate#and shakespeare wrote so many damn things that there was a humongous body of work just sitting there waiting to be culturally exploited...#i know it didn't happen like this but i imagine a English Parliament House Committee Member For The Education Of The Masses or something#cartoonishly stumbling over a dusty cobwebbed crate labelled the Complete Works of Shakespeare#and going 'Eureka! this shall make excellent propoganda for fabricating a national identity in a time of great social unrest.#it will be a cornerstone of our elitist educational institutions for centuries to come! long live our decaying empire!'#'what good fortune that this used to be accessible and entertaining to mainstream illiterate audience members...#..but now we can strip that away and make it a difficult & alienating foundation of a Classical Education! just like the latin language :)'#anyway maybe there's no such thing as the 'greatest writer of x language' in ANY language?#maybe there are just different styles and yes levels of expertise and skill but also a high degree of subjectivity#and variance in the way that we as individuals and members of different cultures/time periods experience any work of media#and that's okay! and should be acknowledged!!! and allow us to give ourselves permission to broaden our horizons#and explore the stories of marginalized/underappreciated creators#instead of worshiping the List of Top 10 Best (aka Most Famous) Whatevers Of All Time/A Certain Time Period#anyways things are famous for a reason and that reason has little to do with innate “value”#and much more to do with how it plays into the interests of powerful institutions motivated to influence our shared cultural narratives#so i'm not saying 'stop teaching shakespeare'. but like...maybe classrooms should stop using it as busy work that (by accident or designs)#happens to alienate a large number of students who could otherwise be engaging critically with works that feel more relevant to their world#(by merit of not being 4 centuries old or lacking necessary historical context or requiring untaught translation skills)#and yeah...MAYBE our educational institutions could spend less time/money on shakespeare critical analysis and more on...#...any of thousands of underfunded areas of literary research i literally (pun!) don't know where to begin#oh and p.s. the modern publishing world is in shambles and it would be neat if schoolwork could include modern works?#beautiful complicated socially relevant works of literature are published every year. it's not just the 'classics' that have value#and actually modern publications are probably an easier way for students to learn the basics. since lesson plans don't have to include the#important historical/cultural context many teens need for 20+ year old media (which is older than their entire lived experience fyi)

This might be a hot take but can Mrs.Flood just be Mrs.Flood who knows what a TARDIS is cause she lived in London all her life, where alien shit is happening at least once a year and is always accompanied by the doctor and a strange police box.
Yk the doc aren’t as subtle as they think they are, word gets around as to what the box actually is.

This animal is called Zngti or Jngti on the southern Shess peninsula, and Anglophone humans sometimes refer to them as "centaur dogs" or "hawkdogs." They are an omnivorous predator that occupied a niche similar to a fox prior to domestication, and now fill a variety of roles in centaur settlements. They descended from a viviparous sister clade of centaurs where the hind limbs developed into a balancing organ similar to the tail of an Earth vertebrate, but did not specialize into claspers and a pouch such as in Tep (the silk dairy livestock).
Zngti do not have a strong pack coordination instinct and are not commonly used for hunting large game or herding livestock. In some ways they're comparable to domestic cats, often left unsupervised around food storage or crops to hunt vermin, but their territoriality also makes them useful for livestock defense or sentry roles.
Although there are no commonly held breed standards, different regions may have one or two specialized varieties for different functions. For game hunting, varieties tend to have a build similar to the wildtype but with flashy coat patterns. Tunnel hunting and vermin control varieties tend to have stout bodies and a bearded face to protect them from clawing prey and dirt entering their eyes and nostrils. Bulky guardian breeds are variously used to defend livestock, property, and children from threatening wildlife or strangers. Sentry alert breeds will raise a continuous "siren" howl through their excurrent nostrils in response to intruders. Most Zngti are work animals first and companions second, but in some urbanized regions toy breeds can be found. Derived from squat vermin hunting varieties, they are usually brightly colored with concave skulls that make them resemble a trunk-smiling centaur.
Although to centaurs Zngti are relatively small animals, they are often heavier and taller than humans. Some guardian breeds can be as large as a cow.
