Can you do a prompt of Marinette being the daughter of the Joker and Harley but Harley left him before Marinette was born and when Joker found out about his daughter He decided to kidnap Marinette so she can become like him (Ace chemicals) (Daminette)
Woot, my first ask in a while! Let’s see how I can do this oddly specific ask that reminds me of a fic that might actually exist but tbh I’ve read so many fanfics idk if my brain is remembering right
—*—*—*—*—*
Marinette knew Sabine and Tom weren’t her biological parents. She had known ever since she was eight, when her mother by blood visited her for the first time, sat her down, and explained everything. Including, but not limited to, her disastrously toxic past relationship, her new girlfriend, and her recent success with long term rehab (unofficial rehab that mostly consisted of illegal anti-hero actions, but hey if it worked it worked).
Marinette understood. Well no, she really didn’t since she was only eight, but she understood that her mom— that Harley— was genuine. She had always had a knack for emotions and telling when people were sincere or not. And Harley really was regretful about not being in her life beforehand, and was serious about wanting to be part of her life now that her own was mostly sorted out.
So Marinette was not surprised when Harley really did stick it out. When Harley cooed over Marinette copying her hairstyle to show her support of her biological mom, when Harley never failed to call at least once a week even if she was in jail for punching some asshole or another. Harley never stayed arrested long anymore, she was usually found to be on the right side of the moral scale more and more often so the police didn’t bother keeping her locked up anymore. Through the years, Marinette always looked forward to her mom’s calls. Looked forward to being lulled to sleep by one crazy story or another from her mother’s past. Everything was nice. Perfect, even, for a while.
A thump sounded from her balcony, one late night when Marinette was thirteen. Blinking, the dark haired girl furrowed her brows. Who would be on her balcony? Cautiously walking towards the trap door leading to it, grasping her metal pencil holder as a weapon (she remembered all of her Mom’s stories about break-ins and random attacks back in Gotham), the teen strained her ears. Akuma attacks were only a few months old now, but she had already become in high alert for any sign of Hawkmoth or his victims. As per usual, Marinette’s paranoia began to kick in. Did Hawkmoth already figure her out? Was he here for her earrings? Would she be able to fight him?
She gently pushed up the trap door, catching a glimpse of black leather. Huh? Marinette narrowed her eyes, confused. Was it Chat? He should have been on patrol, on the other side of the city. What was he doing visiting her?
Suddenly the trap door yanked the rest of the way open, making Marinette yelp as the handle for it rugged away from her fingers. And there, backlit by the pure blue-white moonlight, was Not Chat Noir. It was Catwoman, in all her skintight black leather glory, grinning at her before pushing her cat-eye goggles up to the top of her head and crouching down by the trap door’s entrance, balancing only on the pads of her feet.
“Well hello there~” the woman purred. “So you’re the cute little kitten Harley is so secretive about. Nice to finally meet you,” the woman held out a hand, sending Marinette a sweet, if mysterious, smile. For a while, the pigtailed girl only stared before a squeal of excitement left her throat, leaving very little room for any doubt as to her bloodline. A large smile curled over Marinette’s lips, leaving her beaming widely at the catlike woman on her balcony.
“Auntie Selina! Mom’s told me so much about you! Come in, come in, come in! I’ll sneak some macaroons up for you. Or do you prefer croissants? What’s your favorite flavor? Are you really dating Batman? Oh my goodness, that necklace is so lovely! Did you steal it?”
Selina could only chuckle fondly at the word vomit, letting the smaller girl drag her down the trap door and into her very… pink room. Looking around, Selina was once again slapped with just how similar this kid was to her outgoing friend. Marinette clearly had no shame in indulging in the things she liked, such as the color pink and anything regarding fashion. But there were other things amongst the girliness of the room, like the posters of Jagged Stone and the training dummy half-sticking out of her closet door. There were a few ornamental knives hung up behind her computer, seemingly just for decoration although Selina could see that they were definitely battle ready and sharpened. A small mallet, clearly a miniature replica of her mother’s own signature weapon, leaned up against the side of the girl’s laundry basket. But then there was Marinette’s mannequin, which was surrounded by meticulously cut pieces of cloth and had other pieces pinned to it strategically. Marinette clearly had the same professionalism and love for her chosen career that had so completely defined Harley in the Time Before Joker. The same genius intellect hiding in those deceptively cheerful bluebell eyes. And for the first time, though not for the last to be sure, Selina found herself thoroughly relieved that it seemed Marinette had inherited very little from her father.
Except, as she would learn from stories Harley told her later, an apparent affinity for chaos.
“I’m not that picky, kitten. But I’m not that hungry, so don’t go too out of your way,” Selina decided to just react the same way she did with Harley’s rambles, and answer one question at a time. “Also, I am actually dating Bruce Wayne. But, if you promise not to tell anyone—“ she waited for Marinette’s eager nod before continuing casually, “— the two are maybe not as mutually exclusive as many think,” Selina finished with a conspiratorial wink. “No, I actually did not steal this necklace. Bruce has been adamant in trying to curb me of my thieving habit by buying me almost everything I so much as glance at sideways. It’s sweet. Naive, because I like stealing for the fun of it, but sweet.”
Marinette giggled, bouncing in place happily. She loved a bit of innocent gossip like this. “Is Momma Ivy ever gonna visit? I don’t think Mom told her much about me yet, and I still gotta give her the shovel talk!” the fierce look that overcame Marinette’s face made Selina laugh again. Oh yes, definitely her mother’s daughter.
“Pam has been trying to sneak over, but the laws regarding Metahumans in Paris suddenly got much stricter a few months back and have caused some problems. You wouldn’t happen to know what happened, would you?” Selina did not miss when her seemingly innocent question caused her niece to close off almost instantly. Bluebell eyes took on a familiar guardedness, and scanned her with the same soul-searching intensity that Harley had when she was channeling her Psychiatrist side. Selina found herself in a slightly concerning spot though—
Because she couldn’t predict Marinette at all. She was left to simply stand there as Marinette searched for some unidentifiable thing in her eyes, completely unable to read the younger girl’s face and with no idea of what to expect. The side effect of having chaos so thoroughly entwined in both of her biological parents, she supposed.
“Nope, no idea.”
Selina knew that was a lie, but knew equally as well that she would not be getting a better answer anytime soon. So, she let it go and the two of them once again dipped into innocent chatter.
Later that night, when Selina left and the sun threatened to rise at any minute, Tikki flew up from her hiding spot under Marinette’s pillow to land on her holder’s shoulder. Marinette giggled and looked over at her little friend.
“Tikki?”
“Yes, Mari?”
“Why was I chosen to be your holder?” She asked suddenly, flopping back into her bed and staring at her ceiling. The little goddess hummed, smiling knowingly before flying down to cuddle in the crook of Marinette’s neck.
“Because you are born from luck itself. Even when bad things happen, you have the luck and determination to get out just fine, and stronger than before. And despite the destruction and anarchy in your blood, you have the willpower to reign it in and keep control of yourself. That’s all order really is, Marinette. The decision to take all the chaos and madness around us, and make it make sense. Make it do something good. And that’s a large part of who you are, I could feel it in your soul the moment we first met.”
Marinette closed her eyes, biting the inside of her cheek. “What if I lose control?”
“... You’ll just have to get it back. It’ll be hard, but as long as you have people to support you, you will be able to do it. You aren’t evil, Marinette,” the small God seemed to sense the true question her holder was asking, and did her best to soothe the doubt the girl felt. “Just remember the reasons you fight against chaos. Remember everyone you love, and you’ll be okay. And you have me, I’ll always help you.”
“... thank you, Tikki.”
—*—*—*—*—*
“He’s going to find out, Mom.”
“No he won’t, don’t be silly! I’ve been very careful about hiding you from him, Nettie-pie.”
“Mom… I just have a bad feeling. I don’t think we can hide who I am from him. If he sees me, I think he’ll know.”
The phone went silent.
“If he hurts you, I’ll kill him. If I was crazy about him, Sugar, then I’m head over heels for you. Not even he can stop me from caving his skull in if he tries his usual tricks with you.”
“... My plane leaves soon, I’ll talk to you when I land. And mom?”
“Yeah, honeycake?”
“I love you.”
—*—*—*—*—*
It was uncanny just how often Marinette’s hunches were right. Her intuition was something to behold, truly, because it only took three days in Gotham before Joker snatched her right out of her room at Harley and Ivy’s apartment. At least Marinette had sixteen by then, so she had had enough experience as a hero in Paris and with generally unpredictable situations and people who were absolutely nuts for her to not immediately panic. Too much, anyway.
Because there was definitely a little panic there.
See, Marinette knew herself inside out by then. After her own battle with her toxic feelings towards Adrien and doing her best to heal from those before she turned out like her mom, she knew she was by no means mentally indestructible. Mental illness ran the high risk of being inherited, and Marinette was well aware that her own personality was scarily similar to her mother’s at times. She got attached quickly, felt affection and love for others very strongly and, as she found with Adrien, could easily become obsessive if she didn’t watch herself. At least Harley was the perfect person to help with that, and Marinette was serious about helping herself too. She did everything she could to keep an eye on her mental health and keep her behavior in check so she didn’t do anything too unhealthy with her relationships again.
But she knew, she knew she had a soft spot for family. She got attached too easily. And being in the same room as her biological father, despite being tied up by her hands and feet and knowing just how many unforgivable things he had done in his life, Marinette felt vulnerable. She didn’t want to hurt him, despite everything. She still loved him, despite every reason not to, despite her first meeting with him being with him shoving chloroform over her face and hogtying her to a metal chain dangling over a vat of acid.
Geez, she’d need more than just her mom as a therapist after this for sure. Even if her mom had a PH.D, Marinette felt like she’d need several psychiatrists to sort through her emotional turmoil right then and make sense of any of it.
Marinette licked her lips, aware that the only kindness that Joker gave his daughter was sparing her from the discomfort of being gagged.
“Don’t,” Marinette said, surprising herself with the amount of steel she was able to put into her voice. Somehow, she managed to make the single word sound more like an order than a plead. “Joker, put me—“
“Ah-Ah-Ah!” The clown walked over, tutting and waving his finger in the air in almost playful admonishment. He gave her a dramatically fake pout. “Don’t you know it’s disrespectful to refer to your father by his first name?” Neither of them mentioned that Joker was definitely not his real name. They both knew the point was moot. “Say it with me now— ‘Daddy dearest, I am more than willing to be dunked in acid for you,’ go ahead, say it.”
Marinette’s jaw clenched. Familial love or not, she would not tolerate being ridiculed like that. She dealt with enough ridicule when she was fourteen and fifteen during school, before she put Liar Rossi in her place. She had spent the past three years as a hero in charge of the war against Hawkmoth, in charge of protecting all of Paris from an emotional terrorist.
And gee, wasn’t that what Joker was, too? Sure, he was a terrorist in the classic meaning of the word as well, but he was nothing if not a skilled manipulator. He knew the human mind just as well as Harley or any other psychiatrist did, he just used his knowledge for different means. He had emotionally abused Harley for years, he emotionally abused and manipulated people all across gotham on a daily basis. He was just another Hawkmoth, but with more physical violence in place of magic.
With these thoughts strengthening her resolve, Marinette narrowed her eyes at the man who donated half of her DNA. She let her anger boil into her irises, hitting him with one of the few traits she knew she inherited from him.
Her ability to intimidate others on the tip of a hat.
“No,” she growled back at him. She took a deep breath. It had taken her a while, but she refused to be ashamed of who she was regardless of her blood relation. She would have no problem using the very things she inherited from Joker against him. She might have gotten most of Harley’s personality, she might have inherited her mother’s habit of falling in love hard, fast, and obsessively, but she also had Joker’s defiance. His bone-deep inability to be stopped from doing exactly whatever the fuck he wanted.
And then, there were Marinette’s own traits. The ones that were completely her own, developed over her life organically. Like her refusal to bow down to bullies, her creativity, her ability to take even the most chaotic situation and see some sort of balance and sanity in it that she could use to her advantage.
That she WOULD use to her advantage. The shadows she saw move out of the corner of her eye gave her the chance to do exactly that, she just needed to buy a few more seconds. Just a few more seconds.
“Excuse me?” Joker growled right back, his own intimidation, honed over more years than Marinette had been alive and thus much more potent than her own, reading its ugly head as he stalked towards her. His face was pulled down into an ugly snarl, his shoulders tensed and back straight as he glared right at her. From his spot on the metal walkway, he was easily able to reach over the railing and grab her chin in one pale, viciously strong hand. “I think you’re misunderstanding something here, little Marionette. I’m your father. Half of your life came directly from ME. That makes you my puppet. You exist to follow my orders,” his right grip suddenly let go, leaving behind the beginnings of a bruise as his entire demeanor changed from angry to cheerful. He spread his arms as if gesturing to the whole chemical plant victoriously, and an unnaturally large smile curved over his lips and bared yellowing teeth at her. “But that’s okay. I’ll forgive you this time, you haven’t learned any better yet. That’s why we’re here. We need to cleanse you of all those icky bad habits you’ve learned up until now, all you need is a little,” he bounced in place with a wicked smirk to illustrate his next words— “jumpstart. A little acid goes a long way to enlightenment you know, you’ll see my side of things in no time. And with my blood in you, you’ll make a better sidekick than that idiot Harley ever did. I can sense it, you’ve got a real talent for Chaos in you, it’s exciting, Heheeeheheee! Now then, we should probably speed things along before our family reunion is cut short. Hang in there, my little Marionette,” the man actually had the gall to spin in place while humming a tune cheerfully before all but dancing over to the lever that held Marinette’s length of chain in the air over the vat of chemicals below her. “Everything will clear up in that little head of yours in just a second!”
There! Right as Joker pulled the switch to lower her into the bubbling vat underneath her, Marinette was able to finish untying her hands. She couldn’t contain a small yelp as gravity flung her body forward, leaving her upside down on the chain for a brief moment. That was when the chain started lowering rapidly, and Marinette was barely able to rip the rope off of her ankles in time to swing off of it and onto the metal walkway that came up right next to the giant metal container of liquid death and insanity. Joker had barely enough time to shout in rage before the windows near the ceiling shattered, admitting the city’s vigilantes themselves. Batman, Nightwing, Red Robin, Red Hood, Robin, and evening Black Bat all landed on the same metal platform above Marinette’s head that Joker was still on, buying the teen time to start running. But she didn’t go towards the exit right away, instead heading right up the stairs into the thick of the fight. Robin briefly separated from where Joker was managing to hold his own, goons flooding from side doors to inhibit the heroes in their attempt to bring their boss down.
The katana-using vigilante kept one eye on Marinette the whole time, suspicious of why the girl would come back up if not to help her father. But that wasn’t what she did, instead she flipped and kicked and punched her way through the quickly growing sea of Joker thugs until she reached a small pink purse that had been abandoned near the lever that had nearly sent her into liquid insanity. Three thugs surrounded her right as she snatched the purse up and slung it over her shoulder, but Robin barely had the chance to head over before she was heaving the men, who were all easily three times her size, over her shoulder and was slamming elbows into soft spots and the side of her hand into pressure points. By the time Robin got to her side, all three men were unconscious and bound to wake up in utter agony.
Marinette glanced up, getting ready to haul Robin over her shoulder as well before she realized who he was. She let her shoulders relax just a tick, sighing in relief before returning her eyes to scanning their surroundings. She shot him a brief grin.
“Good thing my adoptive mother, Mom, Momma Ivy, and Auntie Selina all made sure I knew how to take down a small army on my own, huh?” She asked rhetorically before they were both unceremoniously dragged back into the giant brawl.
—*—*—*—*—*
“Nettie-pie!”
“Marigold!”
Harley and Pamela Quinzel-Isley shoved down anyone and everyone who dared block their direct path to their daughter. The girl of the hour stood next to the bat clan, a shock blanket held tightly around her shoulders as she did her best to finish her statement to both the vigilantes and Commissioner Gordon.
“You untied yourself… from a ship-grade knot in high quality rope… with a phone charm?” They heard Gordon ask incredulously, to which Marinette could only give a lopsided smile. That was when her mom and stepmom crashed into her, enveloping her in a nearly suffocating hug.
“Gah— mom— momma Ivy—“ Marinette flailed in their arms for a bit before finally getting her head free and continuing her statement as if she didn’t have two of the most dangerous women in the city still giving her a bone crushing hug. “That’s better. Yes, Commissioner. You see, I realized when I was in the car with Joker, while I was pretending to still be unconscious, that one of the charms on my phone had pretty sharp corners that I could use like a serrated edge if I had enough time. So I carefully detached it from my phone, and held it in my palm. It took almost an hour, but once Joker noticed I was awake I kept him talking so that he didn’t notice what I was doing even as he tied me up to that chain. Really, it’s just lucky that I was able to get it worn down in time,” Marinette rubbed the back of her neck with a nervous chuckle. “But regardless, I think Batman and his partners,” she nodded to the listening vigilantes just to the side of her. “Were close enough that I would have been caught anyway, I just wanted to make sure they had less work to do. The sooner I freed myself, the sooner ‘Daddy Dearest,’” she grimaced as she mockingly used the same term Joker had tried to get her to say earlier that night. “Could go back behind bars where he belongs.”
“Oh my little Nettie-cake,” Harley cried, finally pulling back from the hug long enough to wipe her cheeks. It was clear that she had been crying for a while, and her colorful pigtails were mussed and tangled from where she must have been tugging on them in worry. “You were right. I’m so sorry, I never should have let you come to Gotham when I knew he was out of Arkham.”
Marinette was quick to shake her head frantically, pulling her arms out of Ivy’s hold so she could grasp Harley’s shoulders firmly. “No. No, Mom, I’m fine! And besides, we knew I couldn’t stay secret forever. I really like staying with you and Momma Ivy! Everything turned out fine though, and he’s headed back to Arkham. It’s okay.”
“It’s not okay, Nettle,” Pam argued, distracting herself by running her hands through Marinette’s bangs. She had only known the girl for two years, but that was more than long enough for her to consider the teenager as her own. “He took you right out from under our noses. You were supposed to be safe in our home, and he still got to you. That’s not okay. We weren’t able to protect you like we should have been. Maybe you should go back to Paris early.”
“What?! No way!” Marinette argued, eyes wide. “This is the first time I’ve been able to ever visit you guys in Gotham, I’m not letting some psycho sperm donor keep me from enjoying time with my family! I came here knowing full well that it was dangerous. I’m not gonna just run away after one bad experience.”
Harley snorted, and then devolved into uncontrollable giggles. “Heh— psycho sperm donor. Good one, sugar!”
Marinette smiled and rolled her eyes good naturedly at her mom’s usual immature antics. Seeing as Gordon had walked away muttering to himself a short while ago, Marinette pulled herself the rest of the way away from her moms and turned to the vigilantes. Without a second’s pause, she bowed to them just like her Maman Sabine taught her.
“Thank you for helping save me. I know it’s probably a shock that I’ve been kept secret from you guys all this time, but I hope you don’t lump me in with the likes of the green-haired half of my DNA. I’m staying with my Moms in their apartment, if you guys decide to patrol by our place like I suspect, I’ll leave some baked goods and coffee out for you on our patio. It’s the least I can do for you all after tonight. And don’t be too hard on Auntie Selina. Me and Mom swore her to secrecy, even from you guys.”
Batman jerked a little at the mention of Catwoman’s real name, jaw twitching for a second. Behind his cowl, his eyes narrowed. Marinette laughed, easily reading his body language and expression.
“She never told me who you are, but she didn’t exactly hide it either. It was easy to put the last pieces together on my own. But don’t worry, SHE swore me to secrecy too. I won’t tell anyone.
“How the hell are you related to the Laughing Asswipe from Hell?” Red Hood blurted out, his confusion clear even from behind his hideous helmet. Marinette burst into giggles, and both Pamela and Harley smiled knowingly.
“Mom gave me up for adoption when I was born, so I spent my whole life in Paris up until now,” she admitted. “Mom didn’t visit me for the first time until I was eight, and she and my adoptive parents are so awesome that it must’ve suffocated the worst traits from his DNA before they had a chance to develop,” she guessed out loud with a good natured smile.
Batman grunted. Marinette knew that one run-in wasn’t enough for them to trust her. After all, she was still the biological daughter of their arch enemy. But she didn’t mind, she understood the caution even if she didn’t fully agree with it. They weren’t outright hostile, despite the fact that Robin had never stopped glaring at her since they fought back-to-back against the mob of thugs earlier. She could live with their suspicion, as long as they continued to not be outright rude or mean to her.
At least she could empathize with Adrien now, whenever she figured out how to break it to him that Hawkmoth was definitely Gabriel and couldn’t be anyone else. Hopefully she could help soften the blow for him a little.
Harley and Ivy were starting to herd Marinette towards their car and take her back home, where they could continue to smother her in care and make sure she didn’t have even a scratch on her, when Robin’s voice stopped them all in their tracks.
“You are a surprisingly capable combatant.”
Marinette froze, blinking in surprise for a second before turning to stare at Robin in shock. The rest of the Bat Clam was doing the same, nobody expecting Robin of all people to be the first to directly complement Marinette. He tutted, crossing his arms, but never moved his gaze away from Marinette’s eyes.
“But your form could use some work. Most of your style is incredibly improvised, which I can appreciate since you do it well, but you would benefit from more structure in your fighting. I will set up a time and place for us to spar. We start in two days, if you think you can handle it.”
It took a while for what Robin said to sink in, and another few seconds for Marinette to decipher what his semi-aggressive, order-phrased proposal really meant. And she smiled.
“It’s a date.”

Woo! This started off a little rough, but I really like how it ended up! Thank you, Anon!

So this is completely off-topic from my blog and I apologize, but as sort of a new years resolution and a dragging myself out of my current emotional hole thing, I’ve decided I’m gonna start posting Munday selfies. And when I post them I’m also going to attempt to post either something positive about myself or about something I’ve done in the past week. Which all just sounds... deeply terrifying and uncomfortable but yay for self-improvement. (If you don’t want to see these posts, I’ll be tagging them #munday2020 so feel free to go ahead and blacklist that.)
For this week, since it’s the first week, I’m also going to be posting a tiny hopefully manageable list of self-improvement assignments for myself for the month of January, in the hopes that throwing them out into the void will make it feel more official and make me more likely to stick with them.
List:
Go to the gym at least twice a week. (yay endorphins!)
Spend at least one hour/week writing something that’s not RPs. Fanfic, original story, or even stream of conscious journaling.
Do at least one Duolingo lesson per day. Don’t beat yourself up if you miss one; shrug it off and keep going.
Go out and do something fun at least once a week. (Without your laptop! Going to a cafe and staring at your computer the whole time doesn’t count.) Can be a social thing, or just going to a park or exploring a new part of the city.
If you catch yourself thinking a particularly self-defeating thought, stop and tell yourself the opposite. Even if it doesn’t feel true, just say it anyway. Maybe it’ll start to sink in.
Positive thing about myself for the week: I am trying.

( johnny seo, cismale, he/him ) who is that ? oh, it’s just MAXWELL “MAX” BAE the TWENTY-FOUR year old has been in beauhart for HIS WHOLE LIFE and is currently a BARTENDER. i’ve heard they can be CONFIDENT and HONEST, but also IMPATIENT and BRASH. maybe that’s why their anthem is SANCTUARY by JOJI and CAFFEINE JITTERS, DIRTY CONVERSE PAIRED WITH ALIEN SOCKS, PHONE NUMBERS WRITTEN ON NAPKINS makes me think of them.
misc. info : ( cw : mentions of death & drug use )
his mother died giving birth to him. though he doesn’t remember her ( obviously ) he still holds a bit of guilt & think it’s his fault that she died. but his dad is always quick to snuff that line of thought & holds absolutely no ill will towards max about it
all he’s ever heard is good things about her so he loves her or the idea of her really. he likes to imagine himself in the stories people tell him about her & it’s a comfort to him. it makes him feel like he kind of grew up with her even though he never got to meet her
his dad is a sweet person. full of laughs & kindness. also bad jokes ( this is where max gets his own humor from ). he’s the kind of dad that people wish for. he’s always been supportive of max no matter what & he listens to him whenever he needs it
when they were little they played catch & watched yu-gi-oh together. max still has all his yu-gi-oh cards stuffed in his closet somewhere. now they’re more likely to sit on his dad’s front porch & drink together while listening to music
his dad has never dated or remarried after his wife died because that was his soulmate & he doesn’t want to settle for anyone else & his dad has always told max to find that one person for him
max was miserable in school. he wasn’t good at it & none of it made any sense to him. so he struggled in graduating high school. & he tried college but he couldn’t stand it so he dropped out thankfully with no negative feedback from his dad
he’s kind of anxious & fidgety so it’s hard for him to pay attention ( anxiety & adhd nation make some noise !!! ) but if he gets focused on a project he’ll ignore his need to eat or anything else to work on it
he picked up making drinks from his dad at a young age ( imagine a twelve year old making cocktails that’s basically how it was ) & is really good at it so naturally he became a bartender. it’s not his dream job per se but he enjoys it a lot & makes good tips from it so he has no complaints about it
basically he’s pretty happy-go-lucky but he’s also an idiot & annoying about it. he can seem friendly enough at first but once you get close to him he’ll turn up that aries personality & get on your nerves ( but he’s also like a leech & will stick to you )
he’s really into aliens. he even has a ufo tattoo ! he will fight with anyone who doesn’t believe in them ( or cryptids or the supernatural in general ). the x-files is his favorite show & he wishes to be fox mulder every day of his life. he’s also a diehard boogara
he’s a big conspiracy theorist. he believes in lizard people, the illuminati & that queen elizabeth is a cannibal & that’s how she’s stayed alive for so long. he’s very paranoid about stuff. he’s one of those people who read the terms & conditions on everything so that he doesn’t agree to some company stealing his dna & selling it on the dark web. he also refuses to pick up the phone because he thinks the government is listening in on them ( he only makes calls when he’s high & out of it )
& he loves true crime. he’s always listening to true crime podcasts & watching true crime docs
he loves energy drinks & coffee. he drinks them so much that he’s shaking about 75% of the day but he never listens when people tell him he’s gonna get a heart attack
he’s messy. his apartment is messy. his hair is messy. his entire energy is just messy. but he thinks his personality makes up for it
he can kinda cook but honestly he’s lazy & just prefers to order in food 95% of the time. also he has a bad habit of forgetting stuff like he’ll turn the oven on then get distracted then wonder what the weird smell in his place is
for the most part he’s nice but he does participate in “friendly” dragging. if you’re friends he will clown you & sometimes he can hurt someone’s feelings even when he doesn’t mean to ( more than likely he will not apologize for it he’ll just ignore it til the other person gets over it hopefully )
always losing his headphones. he settles for those crappy $5 earbuds that you find at dollar stores so he won’t feel bad for losing them anymore. honestly he loses everything. who knows how many sets of keys he’s gone through
he’s super clumsy. always tripping, always running into stuff. he’s broken a million glasses at the bar
he’s pretty flirty, pretty charming. he uses it to his advantage at the bar, draws in customers in order to get tips & phone numbers
he’s a soft thot. he’s easy to sleep with but he’s kind & caring about all his partners
he’s a really good boyfriend & he falls in love easily,  but he’s forgetful & accidentally negligent sometimes. like he’ll go days without responding to texts or checking up on people. he doesn’t mean to he just does
he loves pins, patches & colorful socks. everything he wears is covered in them. most of the things he wears aren’t even related to his interests because people just give them random things & he wears them anyway
he can never open jars his beefy arms are useless
a fan of punny humor. he’s the king of dad jokes
he’s that person who puts his legs up on the dash of the car or hangs them out the window
wishes he knew how to skateboard but doesn’t even know how to ride a bike
takes in random cats & dogs he finds on the street. sometimes he tries to find their owners & sometimes he doesn’t but it’s fine
he’s addicted to those edited audios that are like “( song ) but you’re listening to it in the bathroom at a party & you’re crying because you’re alone” & he’s obsessed with joji so of course those are his favorite
he’s one of those pansexuals who call themselves gay constantly
uses uwu in texts to be ironic & annoying. most of his words have w replacing certain letters to sound like a smol
he gets stoned at like three am & tries to call people & ask them stupid high people questions like “if two vegans fight is it still called beef”
he’s also never left beauheart or gone too far away. just a few cities at most. he has a bit of a stoner paranoia about it. like if he leaves the state something bad will happen to him or his dad or loved ones
he’s terrified of horror movies. especially ones with clowns. he refuses to watch them because he’s convinced that he’ll accidentally summon a demon or a ghost through osmosis or something JHGDLFKGHD
wanted connections :
rooommates ( one or two )
exes ( any gender. it can be messy or friendly. i’m willing to have max be the issue though with him it’ll always be baby issues since he’s nice & a tryhard JGHKFDHFKGFD )
hookups / fwbs ( any gender. singular experiences or regular type things )
childhood plots for those who’ve lived in beauheart ( childhood friends, first kisses / crushes, all that good stuff )
high school sweethearts
flirtationships that don’t go anywhere
one-sided crushes ( don’t mind who has the feelings ! )
mutual pining but they’re both idiots & have no idea
party buddies. conspiracy theory buddies. true crime buddies. any of these can be combined
tinder date ( it can go well or not )
frequent customers ( better yet, frequent customers that he flirts with. give me the cliche phone number on napkins plot)
maybe you don’t tip him for whatever reason & he’s had a bad day & he’s like “bro wtf”
teach him how to ride a bike KJFDHSLGJF
maybe you try to get him to leave beauheart & you have to deal with his crybaby ramblings about how something bad will happen
beef with him over the existence of supernatural things
be the person he calls at three am after eating too many edibles & deal with his stoned questions
try to make him watch a horror movie
for someone newer to town: be that person who makes a “your mom” joke & have to deal with that awkward “my mom’s dead” conversation
maybe he “accidentally” stole your cat or dog & you try to get it back but he doesn’t believe that it’s yours even though you clearly have proof
maybe you’re the person who always ends up finding the stuff he loses & you’re stuck in this constant act of returning & you’re tired of it
literally anything you can think of i’m probably down for it

Tell me all about Wynn!
O GOSH, if you are ready for the wall of text, I shall tell you all XD Short version: Abandoned kid, who mixed with a wrong bandit gang, caused him a lot of issues and trauma, but he’s recently been trying to recover and move forward. VERY VEEERY LONG AND WINDED version under the cut (a lil gruesome too) No, really, it is very long, you have been warned:
Wynn is a child of two Scarlet Crusaders, (neither originally was one, but dad met a girl and she got mixed up and mind filled with nonsense, and he dumbly followed her because love and rest is history), he also has an aunt and cousin (Elyonn) through his dad with whom he only recently rekindled, as they fell out of touch as soon as father became a crusader. Mother was a zealous fanatic, always pushing Wynn to learn and study, as soon as he was able to grasp what letters are, something he really had no interest in, or really much talent, he preferred to run around and play with animals. He also befriended every single cat in the monastery, much to his mother’s annoyance. His dad, while also pretty zealous, at least from parent perspective, was a decent guy and understood that Wynn was his own human being and let him run off and play, cover up for him when he did that, help his study so it wasn’t as tedious and one of the fondest memories Wynn has of his dad, was sneaking out the monastery to go to Darkmoon Faire, and he still enjoys the event as it reminds of simpler times. Scar on Wynn’s cheek is actually from his mother, when she was disciplining him, and he has very little memory of the woman. His dad, per mother’s insistence, took Wynn on one of the crusades, in the attempt to expand, only to perish to the undead, Wynn being the only survivor. Wynn was temporarily placed in the orphanage, and letters were sent to the mother (which she ignored, in a blind zealousy of ‘Light will bring my son back to me’ sort of thing), and after many fruitless attempts, and zero replies from either the Crusade or the mother, Wynn was placed for adoption, under the presumption, his mother was dead. Wynn had no idea what his aunt’s name was, otherwise he would’ve mentioned her. (mother dies years later in Northrend, killed by some adventures for a bounty, while part of the Scarlet Enclave. Wynn saw the poster and had zero emotion on the matter, even when he found out the bounty was fulfilled)
There was a noble High Elf couple. Not a loving marriage, girl got married of to the guy from status/money, and he completely ignores her for his studies. He ignores her so hard she can't even get him to do 'husband duties' of having kids, so she eventually manages to convince him to at least adopt for now, so when they do have kids, they have a sibling. He waves her off as 'yeah whatever go for it' so of to the orphanage she goes, and meets Wynn. She find kindred spirit in his situation, and they bond, and after several visits, she signs the papers and formally adopts him. Husband doesn't even realize she adopted a human boy, he was glad he could focus on his studies and she was out of his hair, but when he did notice he just '???? why a human?' she explained that she bonded with this guy the most and he needed a loving home. He just shrugs and even tries to teach Wynn to be a warlock like him, 'cept turns out Wynn had zero magical affinity, in that direction at least and his magic was more nature based. His new mom signed up with one of local hunters and that's where he learned to be a hunter, and eventually got his first pet, a wolf named Timber. Fast forward a few years ahead, Wynn is 14-ish, his parents finally got a kid of their own ( a girl, Wynn gets a long with her wonderfully) but husband starts dabbling in magic more hardcore, to the point of borderline fel corruption (he also becomes a blood elf). Before anything bad happens, mom scoops up the kids, moves to Dalaran, and sends the dad divorce papers in the mail, through her family.
Dalaran is city of magic, his mom goes to become a teacher and an archmage eventually, as she's a mage herself, sister also becomes a mage and Wynn just...can't put himself anywhere and he feels a bit left out but he does eventually manage to get a job, as turns out with a gang. He doesn't mind because they, seemingly, just bunch of smugglers, which is what Wynn does at least, stealing and smuggling. As it later turns out they go much deeper, murders, kidnapping you name it. Wynn stick to his little branch and keeps his head low, but when he finds out about their darker dealings, he becomes afraid for his family, so he decides to leave and go to Stormwind branch, to keep them safe, in case he fucks up, god forbid. (Never happens, I will bring it up later) He witnessed guys hands cut off because they upset the leader or people be thrown to the dogs for worse etc that sorta brutal, like fallout raider level brutal. They're an average crime gang tho as long as you don't piss anyone off. Dating someone on the outside of the gang wasn't forbidden but you know, you gotta be careful like I imagine one would have to if they are in a gang and their SO isn't. Wynn briefly had a bf in the gang it didn't work out, dude got salty tried to get Wynn killed 'cept he got looked on like an idiot and got killed instead, for 'abusing power'. Wynn did get a girlfriend outside the gang later on. Cute girl, simple farmer's daughter on one of the many farms in Elwyn Forest. He told her he's in a gang, didn't tell which, but he wanted to be honest. She was fine with it, and they made plans to run away eventually and start a new life. All was well until the gang got a whiff of them wanting to run away. Long story short, this guy named Fist, slits the girl's throat in front of Wynn, saying no one leaves, and now that he has no reason to leave, he shouldn't want to, "And if this, didn't convince you...' as he shoots Timber as well, and if he is still thinking about it, they'll come for his mother and sister too. I honestly have no idea how Wynn didn't fucking snap completely in that moment, but he gained a lot of anxiety and commitment issues, it take a while for him to even establish something with Fred, who is thankfully patient, and loves Wynn and is willing to do whatever as long as he is comfortable.
The whole thing actually pushes Wynn to run away anyways, goes fuck knows where under a new name, tries to go clean, gets taken in a by a older widowed blacksmith and his two sons about his age. All goes well for like 6 months. Wynn finally feels he ran away and moved on, 'cept that when he comes home one day, to find blacksmith and his sons dead (along with 2 bandits) with clear signs of fight. Blacksmith has a note on his back stuck with a knife 'We told you: no one leaves'. Wynn runs away again, joins smaller scale gang near Lakeshire for protection, goes back to petty thievery, and that's when he gets caught by Fred who throws him in the Stormwind jail which is a no no. They keep doing this thing where Wynn runs away Fred puts him back for like 5 times before Fred asks why does he keep doing that to which Wynn just '...did you really just ask me why I don't wanna be in jail?' 'No I mean people usually welcome staying in jail for safety' 'well it ain't safe the for me'tldr he is basically just afraid to fall in love again in fear off that person getting killed again. Arguably, Fred is not a defenseless farm girl, he'd like to see them try and kill him, but still that is genuine fear, and he has a break down when he accidentally lets 'I love you' slip, they fucked that boy up pretty hard.
Wynn and Fred relationship is another filled rant, but to keep it short, they didn't really like each other at first, were together because Wynn was helping Fred clear out his former gang, as Fred is a mercenary and there were contracts for some of them. Along the way love blossomed, so Wynn almost left, and when Fred questioned why, Wynn said 'I am falling for you, and it would be better if I just forgot you were ever a thing, it's safer for you' 'Have you thought about how it'd make me feel if you left?' 'Relived I'm gonna presume' 'No, actually I'd be rather upset. I grew to like you a lot too' To which Wynn literally went 'Like??? ME??? are you nuts? You must've hit your head a lot as a warrior' Fred laughs at that but basically tells him he had a hard life too, and he is not telling Wynn how to mourn, but he doesn't just want to date him, he wants to be his friend too, and if he needs him, he is there for him. He smooches his cheek and walks off, saying choice is Wynn's he will be there for him either way. Wynn scoff, and turns around to climb on his drake but just....doesn't. He curses and calls out to Fred, as he runs up and hugs him saying 'That doesn't mean I like you' 'Yeah I know'
Wynn lets 'I love you' slip and has a break down, trying to leave again, finally explaining to Fred who blocked his path, everything. The girl, the wolf, his life story. Fred tries to reassure him it'll be fine, but Wynn is inconsolable, but he does manage to convince him to stay. When he wakes up in the morning, Wynn is gone. Obviously Fred is heartbroken, but knowing the situation, realizes Wynn is set in his ways although he obviously can't help but feel sad about it. Wynn didn't actually leave, he stuck around to get last look at Fred before he leaves and when he does, he sees how distraught he is, realizing he truly loves him, and he realizes he'd hurt Fred more if he left. He comes out of hiding, to surprise of Fred and Fred is about to say something but Wynn just 'Let me...speak, please' to which Fred nods slightly 'I...I was selfish. I only thought about myself while thinking I am looking out for you. I didn't think about how you might feel if I just up and left and I'm sorry. I might not always say this but...I do love you and...you have come to mean world to me and...it might take a while for me to get over this, and if that's fine with you I'll never leave again...' and he looks away. Fred just smiles and comes up to him and holds him close 'You never have to tell me anything. I know. And I will say it for the both of us.' Wynn just stands there for a second, but then buries his face in Fred's shoulder and cries, apologizing profusely.By the events of Legion, Wynn is a lot more lax and confident, he just straight up goes 'You know what?! I am tired of being afraid, they wanna get you to get to me, they're gonna have to go through me first' He is still not fully out of his shell but he's a lot different than when Fred first met him few years back for sure.
They helped during Dalaran evacuation in begining of legion, and after all said and done, Fred convinces Wynn to reunite with his mom and sister and Wynn just 'Okay buster just because I said I wanna be more open doesn't mean I wanna be this open!' 'But you do care for them too, why not make sure they're safe too? I am just suggesting if you don't wanna go-' 'No you're right...I'm just still...not out of the mentality yet' and they go and reunion goes incredibly well,  mom and sister really missed Wynn and glad he is alive and well. His mom tells the that they can stay in her house if they need a place while they're in Dalaran, so that's where they live during Legion. After they reunite with Wynn's mom, and Wynn learns gang been after her a few times, but his mother coldly remarks 'Oh those guys? Yeah their ice solid corpses kept the sewer waters cold' and Wynn just 'JFC mom you're metal!' 'Don't mess with my children and then come threaatening me. I will destroy you. I had one scumbag in my life doing that, never again' (referring to her ex) Wynn goes to Fred 'you know how through out our jobs we've been dispatching small groups here and there ye? 'Yeah?' 'I am in Dalaran, I'm tired. I am gonna stab the snake in the eye.' '...are you sure?' 'I am not a scared boy anymore I am tired of running. I need you to go with me though, but as a worgen, scarier that way.' Fred chuckles 'Whatever I do, don't stop me. I need this.' Fred nods.So off the go in the Underbelly, and Wynn, accompanied by an 8 foot black worgen in heavy armor sure makes people whisper. They go into one of the inns and just chill, eventually a thug comes up and says 'Fist wants to see you' so they go, Fred intimidatingly leans at the door they entered from, Wynn sits at the table with Fist. 'Look what the cat dragged back in, it's Wynnie! How is it going sweetie?' 'You got promoted from Stormwind huh?' 'Yeah, demon invasion and all, every one wants supplies. Look, Wynnie, I am gonna cut the bullshit. You cause a lot of damage and we got a score to settle' 'Oh yeah we do!' and with that, he swiftly  pierces Fist's hand to the table. Fist's guards obviously jump in as he's screaming, but Fred straightens out and they kinda stand there hesitating. Wynn then grabs Fist by the hair 'You see me? Look very closely because I am the last thing you will see' 'What do you want?! Money? I'll give you anything.' 'How pathetic you are when you realize I am not the little boy you can push around anymore. This is for the little boy, who's life you destroyed, and that little boy came back, and ended yours. And by the way? My name is Wynn.' and with that, he slams Fist's head into the dagger hilt, through the eye, killing him. One of the guards finally drops a pair and charges at Wynn only to be slammed into the wall by Fred. Rest back up, as Wynn incredibly unceremoniously removes Fist from his dagger and wipes it on Fist's clothes, 'Tell the Big Guy, Wynn is back, and if he sends anyone after me or my family, tell him what I did to Fist. I'll be waiting.' And with that, he grabs a bag of gold off the table, puts his dagger away and walks off, as the entire in whispers inn awe. They go to the park, and Wynn is just very silent, and Fred asks 'Better?' 'Actually, yes. Sorry I went so gruesome back there.' 'Not my style, but you needed it, and he had it coming for long time' 'Do you... mind if I have some time alone for myself? I'll stay safe, I promise' 'I know, and of course, I need to run some errands anyways' 'Thank you for coming with me' 'Anytime' Fred kisses his cheek and goes about his business, leaving Wynn alone, who cries with relief that he is somewhat free finally.
That’s basically all I got at the moment figured out, which a lot I am so sorry if you actually sat through the whole thing, bless your patience. Their BfA events are still WIP largely, but they do go to Kul Tiras and Fred goes back working for Grawymane, but that a smuch as I got so far.

Lineup Lamentations - GW5
Our Transfers, Captains, and Starting 11s for the week!
WALSH ON WILDCARD
TRANSFERS:
OUT: wildcard
IN: wildcard
Sucks to not have a fun WC pod...but couldn't let that get in the way of keeping my diabolical team for this gameweek.
Waking up on Friday and seeing the news around town the writing was on the wall. A couple hours later and the team sort of picked itself. Obviously this weekend has a high likelihood of being a complete mess after the IB and so I tried to choose players with the medium/long term in mind.
GK:
Ryan (cry)
Sticking with Ryan here and trying to do that thing where I just keep the GK instead of fuck off after being bad to chase points from someone who is "better" only to see Ryan start to bank points.
Not keen on shooting myself in the foot here, and although Brighton aren't set up to defend and park...what team with a 4.5 gk does?
DEF:
Lamptea (cry)
Cheap defense incoming.
Doubling up on defense against my team...vomit. Surely this won't come off, but the small boy attacks a lot as long as he figures out how to stay fit is a decent shout for attacking points in any game he starts. Whether he is still standing past 60...another question entirely. Feels like good value, though, and a solid attacking defender so glad to be in on the party if not a little late to it after he's risen twice.
Dallas (WOL)
Not the biggest feels for cleans from Leeds basically ever but he's another good attacking fullback kinda quasi OOP guy with good underlying stats so we'll give him a shot. Don't really know shit about anything with who has a good defense yet so trying to just spread it around and see what sticks. Rotate them and play fixtures. At least he's fun and it'll be more fun to own a Leeds player from now on watching their games. Ayling was in consideration but Dallas seems a bit better stats and shit so just going with that.
Konsa (lei)
Great fixture, amazing actual unreal fixture so clean prob good here. I was looking at Targett but I hate him and he doesn't attack so Konsa seemed a better shout from pod partner when we were discussing it. Having a share of Villa defense seems good as they look good and he's pretty dangerous on set pieces. Another cheap rotational cog who will go in and out of the xi.
MID:
Pulisic (SOU)
Biggest punt in the xi the American is back in. Playing around and talking to pod partner solidified just as a pick that could be a big gainer for me on WC here. We know what he does and now that he is allegedly fit he should go back to shitting points as per. Direct and always in dangerous positions with ridiculous stats he performs like a double digit player not like an 8.3m one. Hoping he can be good in spite of Franklin. Seems like a good fixture for him getting to attack Soton's left side....let's go.
Salah & Mane (eve)
Mo remains and is joined by friend Mane. Pretty straightforward here - Mane looked really good every game so far and Mo is Mo. In a season with many questions and few answers, this is a dead cert. Great players on the best team. Dunno what in hell will happen against Everton but this isn't a short term play.
Son (WHU)
Not completely over the moon in love with this pick but it is.....obvious. Son always performs in FPL no matter who the manager is or what the situation of life is. When he's fit, he gets points. Obviously he's not gonna score 4 and hit triple returns often, but he's just a great player. Being utilized sorta kinda OOP to boot, adding Bale soon will only make them better. At 9m he seems a safe pair of hands.
Sterling (ARS)
Notice a theme here? 5 known quantities and huge dongers in midfield. I know I'm missing out on some value picks in the 6-7m range, but I feel fine with that. City are a bit upside down world at the moment but Raz is still Raz. Can hat on any given week, just like the other four midfielders in my team currently. I still back Pep to get them right and Raz can score goals even when they're wrong. A steady great guy who I know what I'll get.
FWD:
Calvert-Lewin (LIV)
DCL stays. Obvious monster, great guy. Tough fixture but whatevs. Everton going well and fortunate to have only one game per week with Europe starting up this week. Should keep being good.
Brewster (FUL)
There's certainly a chance he doesn't start but I'll run that risk. As you all know I'm big on Brewster as a starter and structured my WC team as such. If he falls on his face after a month or so I'll just double swap him out with one of my mids for a couple of new friends. If not and he looks like he'll tick, then I can keep my massive huge midfield and it'll be so great and fun.
BENCH:
Steele, Walker-Peters, Fredericks, Davis
KWP and Fredericks make up the rest of my defensive five rotation.
KWP is kinda playing wing and Fredericks was looking good with good attacking stats and such. West Ham look good so having a piece there seems good for the long term...and I'm a little bit sorta kinda nervous about Masuaku long term keeping his place.
Soton are a good team, and so just feels fine-ish to get him. I was looking at Ward...but fuck me Joel Ward like. If I had a better idea who was starting CB for us I probably would've gone there as KWP is by far my least favorite of the five I am on but I can see that he's a reasonable FPL pick and good rotational piece.
I should be able to find 3 from these 5 each week without too much of an issue, so we'll see how it goes. I honestly can't remember the last time I did this....maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Throwback to the old days of 5x4.5 defense here we go.
Davis is just a ded guy out there at 4.4m last on the bench. Not too big of a deal to carry a blank player to me and he is low key the only other fit striker on the Villa books so if something happens to Watkins...you never know.
Tumblr media
CAP:
Pulisic (SOU)
Time to punt.
Pod partner gave me the courage and in a week where there is no standout that I like why not punt and have fun? I've got myself covered with the other guys, mostly, anyways so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully he starts :D
ALON
TRANSFERS:
OUT: De Bruyne
IN: Grealish
Short term plan is turning Kev, Foden, and VVD to Jack (done), Mo, and another semi-premium defender I feel confident holding long term maybe Semedo or something like that.
I was thinking of prepping for a Werner to Kun move but I don’t see that as being just one week away so I might have time there before jumping on Kun.
I really wanted to have 2 FT next week after this clusterfuck week followed by UCL so here I am... Jack has a fantastic fixture Leicester are really a fucked up mess with all their injuries and Jack / Villa are flying. His move to LW and the upgrades throughout the team really has me buzzing for him as a FPL asset. Following it.
GK:
Martinez (lei)
Great fixture. Leicester are an aforementioned fucking disaster right now and very injured and Villa are looking great. Very cleanable come on you Villains.
DEF:
Lamptey (cry)
Good clean fixture but the young boy is still knocked and I’m worried about his health. Come on Tariq really need to trust you going forwards.
van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold (eve)
Not expecting a clean here but also could be a grindy 0-0. Ancelotti has done well vs. the reds last couple years so I don’t feel great about it but also still VVD and Trent are the best so... ya know... not all bad.
MID:
Sterling and Foden (ARS)
Kev out in theory makes Foden more likely to start? I can hope at least...
Raz is great I’m not worried about him, and while Arsenal are doing better defensively it’s still a big ask to shut this City side down. Though no Kev and no #9 is troublesome for City.
Grealish (lei)
My thoughts are above in the transfer section but yeah Jack is putting up humongous superstar numbers and looking it too up there at LW. Keep it up Jack. Could be a guy I keep all season.
Rodriguez (LIV)
Obviously really tough matchup but Hamez is just unbelievable so you set and forget him. Also a lot better to be at Goodison instead of Anfield so I could see Everton getting something and if they do then that usually goes through Hamez.
FWD:
Calvert-Lewin (LIV)
DCL is great doesn’t really require words at this point.
Wood (wba)
Wood to Brewster was definitely in my thoughts this week but I think you cannot ever transfer out an attacker playing against West Brom or Fulham this season that’s just pure blasphemy.
Werner (SOU)
Two weeks of not following shit definitely made me feel better about owning Timo then before. Chelsea are getting their superstar wingers back soon and they’ll be way too much firepower for most teams in the league to handle. On paper this should be a great fixture for pace in behind Southampton’s really shitty defenders and high line. Come on Timo.
CAP:
Werner (SOU)
Cap gave me a headache this week and it came down to a coinflip between Jack and Timo.
I honestly think Jack is probably a little more likely to get any return like an assist or even a clean point+assist type of little ding dong but I think Timo is more likely to haul points in what could be a very back and forth high scoring match.
Brace+ type of haul is what I’m gunning for with my cap soooo yeah here we go. Sorry to the guy who asked on Friday My Life about capping Timo... Here I am.

A Q&A with Bucks guard Pat Connaughton during quarantine
Tumblr media
A Q&A with Pat Connaughton of the Milwaukee Bucks.
A Q&A with the Milwaukee Bucks guard as the NBA season has been paused indefinitely over the coronavirus pandemic.
Six weeks ago, Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Connaughton was coasting through the fifth year of his career as a rotation player on one of the best teams in NBA history. He’d just competed in the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest, and had a story about his real estate development company published in the New York Times.
Today, as Covid-19’s rampant sweep across the United States has placed the rest of the 2019-20 season in jeopardy, there’s a chance Connaughton — a free agent this offseason — has already played his last game with the Bucks.
Most people have been forced to adjust to a different lifestyle. That includes this 27-year-old NBA player who would otherwise be preparing for a playoff run, while fulfilling his second career in different ways than he currently can.
In a wide-ranging phone interview with SB Nation on Monday, Connaughton opened up about free agency, why it’s important for professional athletes to prepare for life after retirement, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee, the Netflix series Tiger King, and so much more.
This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
SB NATION: I’ll begin with a question I find myself asking just about everyone I talk to these days: How are you staying safe? And, did you consider traveling home once the NBA allowed its players to do so, or just bunker down and stay put?
PAT CONNAUGHTON: I stayed in Milwaukee. I tried to look at it from a variety of different angles. For me, I’m from the Boston area and Massachusetts was arguably hit worse than the majority of other places, so going home didn’t really make sense for me, for my own health but also for the safety of my family.
We’re fortunate to be in the NBA. We might as well stay close to our team just in case, God forbid something does happen and we need access to doctors, we have team doctors. If we need access to food for some reason, the chefs are trying to help us out when they can. There’s different things that I think teams are doing to help their players that stick around.
I also wanted to do my best to stay in shape, and when the facility shut down I was able to work with some of our strength staff to get some free weights into my apartment, to get a bike, to at least have some workouts that I can do outside, running up hills near the lakefront where I live, things of that nature so that I can keep myself sane.
SB: What’s been the biggest difference for you, going from the 100 miles per hour schedule you were on as an in-season NBA player to just shutting everything down as quickly as you did?
PC: I really do believe it’s a simulation of retirement. Obviously guys still want to stay in shape and work out because basketball will be back at some point in time, but it is a mini simulation of it. Our working careers end by 35, 40, if you’re fortunate, so you’ve still got 35, 40 years of life, and what are you doing day in and day out?
For me, I love doing different things with real estate. I try to work with my best friend who’s our project manager who lives with me out here in Milwaukee, we’re working on ‘Hey, how can we grow the real estate company?’ It’s similar to what I do in basketball, learning from Giannis on a daily basis. How can I use the same competitive skill-set in the business world during this time off, because when the ball does stop bouncing I still want to have another successful career in another field.
SB: How about your daily schedule. I’m just curious how you’re filling spare time, being that I’m sure you have even more of it now with the season on hold.
PC: I wake up, I’ll scramble some eggs, cook some bacon, have a few pieces of toast, yogurt, smoothie, whatever it might be. I’ll then workout, whether it’s outside, inside, bike, weights, whatever I have access to, however creative I can be. By that time I’ll have lunch, and while I’m having lunch I’ll check my emails. I’ll check some of the work stuff I’m doing as far as the business outside of basketball for a few hours, do some stuff there.
By that time it’s probably dinnertime. We’ve been making dinner at home. Tacos. Homemade pizzas. Ramen noodles. We’re fortunate: My best friend’s fiancee also is with us and she’s a little bit more expertise in the kitchen than we are, but we’re learning.
At night, it’ll vary. Sometimes we’ll watch Billions. I’m a huge Billions fan. I’m catching up on it now because the new season is coming out in May. We checked out Tiger King. Some nights we’ll play video games. We’ll play NHL. I grew up with all hockey players. I was the only basketball player, so I didn’t have a choice on learning how to play hockey video games, now I actually enjoy it. Sometimes we’ll watch a movie. Sometimes I’ll read a book before bed. So I think it kind of varies depending the night, but before you know it, it’s 9, 10 o’clock, and if I want to try to continue to simulate what it’s going to be post retirement to get a feel for it, then I try my best to get to bed at a reasonable hour, get up in the morning and do it all again.

SB: I will never forgive myself if I don’t ask this super-serious followup question, but what were your thoughts on Tiger King?
PC: [Laughs] I was a huge fan of seeing the tigers, the lions, the ligers, the animals. Those things fascinate me. I used to watch The Lion Whisperer on Youtube. There’s this guy who is out with wild lions, in Africa or wherever they live, and he’ll just go up to them and they love him. So I’ve always been fascinated by the size of them, the size of their heads, the size of their paws. Actually the background on the lock screen on my phone is a lion. So I loved that.
As far as the personal life of my man Joe Exotic and some of the characters in it, I was a little bit puzzled. My facial reactions were a little bit, like, giggle-worthy, as my buddy and his fiancee said. They’d look at me when something was happening and I’d look at the screen like ‘what the heck is going on?’ Never in my life would I have sat down to watch that otherwise, so I think that’s all part of the experience. I’ll look back on this hopefully in five, 10 years and be like ‘Hey remember that pandemic we went through? Yeah, remember that show we watched with that guy who got put in jail, and there was that other lady who might’ve fed her husband to a tiger?’
SB: I could honestly ask you one million questions about Tiger King but I think it’s best for everyone if we move on to topics that actually matter. We don’t know when or if the season will come back, but how difficult do you think it’ll be to ramp your body back into game shape? There’s really nothing that can perfectly simulate what an NBA game is like. Does that concern you?
PC: Not for me, personally. I don’t think there’s any way to simulate game shape, but the ironic part about that is every offseason there’s also no way to simulate game shape, so in reality that’s not really a big difference, in my opinion. I’m more concerned about not having access to a gym. I can’t go into the facility. We’re not allowed to go into public gymnasiums. Unless you’re a guy who has a personal court in your house or live in nice weather and can shoot around in your driveway ... I’ve got a few balls in my house and I’m dribbling around but I’m sure the people below me and to the side of me aren’t thrilled about the dribbling that goes on at night, you know what I mean? I think that is something that will be on my radar as the season comes back around.
The in-shape thing, some of the workouts that I do, I’m laying on the ground dead afterwards. And as far as I’m concerned every time I’ve run up and down a court and played in a game I’ve never ended up laying on the ground in the locker room afterwards, like, purely exhausted. So I think the in-shape stuff, I can mitigate that worry, but I think the skill-related stuff, shooting, that’s something you’re gonna have to focus on a little bit more, pending when and if [the season] comes back.
SB: Is there anything the Bucks have communicated with you to try and combat that?
PC: When I think about what I can do, I think back to when I wasn’t in a gym every single day as a kid. We weren’t allowed to be. You had practice two, three, four times a week, depending on how many teams you were on. You weren’t necessarily in a basketball gym for hours upon hours every single day. Especially for me, playing baseball. I just think about the stuff that I used to do around the house. Dribble the ball around until my mom yelled at me. Lay in bed and shoot the ball up in the air, like you saw Pistol Pete do in that movie or whatever it was. Simple things like that to just keep your feel of the basketball at least somewhat normal.
SB: How did you find out the season was suspended and what was your first reaction?
PC: I was sitting in my apartment, actually just finished making tacos with my buddy and his fiancee. We were playing the Celtics the next day, and I was on League Pass waiting to watch the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Utah Jazz game. And it never came on. So we were like ‘when was the last time an NBA game didn’t tip off at tip-off time?’
So we went straight to Twitter, and for the next two hours we were watching Twitter as if it was the night of the NBA Draft, back when [Adrian Wojnarowski] used to drop the tweets before the draft picks came out. We might as well have thrown the Twitter feed of my phone up on the TV screen and just watched it that way because it was just fascinating.
I was just kind of like ‘this is wild.’ I didn’t think much about it at the start, as far as, this could end the season or anything that drastic. I was just like ‘wow this is having a serious effect on this one game.’ And then the Pelicans never even started their game and the Mavs finished their game, and we were supposed to play the next night? Will they [cancel] another game? The Celtics had just played the Jazz, so we kind of thought that our game wasn’t gonna last, but we didn’t get the official word for no shootaround until later on that night. And then we didn’t get the word about no games until the next day.
It was just kind of fascinating how quickly it unfolded, and how the NBA was ahead of everything. The NBA honestly set the precedent, in my opinion, for not just the rest of the sports world, but almost the rest of the world itself, to start taking this thing seriously.
SB: It’s hard to think about where we would be in this country had Rudy Gobert never tested positive, and we’re still so far behind.
PC: We’re far behind as far as the world is concerned. As a sports league, we were ahead of where the U.S. was, which is wild and scary to think about.
SB: Being part of such a special season with the Bucks, how often do you think about the possibility that the season is over, and how you might never get an opportunity to finish what you started? How difficult would that be, given all the hard work that was put in and what the expectations were?
PC: It’s tough because you look at it from a few different lenses. You think seasons like this don’t come along every year, so if it ends that’s gonna suck. To be honest. But when you look at it from the lens of an athlete you’re like we, as a team, are very good. What is preventing us from doing it again next year? Obviously we would be disappointed, we’re having a great year, etc. But maybe it just makes us hungrier next year. Maybe it’s fuel on the fire, as opposed to something else. Giannis will be a year older, a year more skilled. We’ll all be getting better. If you look at it that way you can throw some positive light to it.
The other light you look at it, just being open and honest, there are guys that are on contract years. There are guys that, I mean, personally I don’t have a technical contract for next year or anything. So you look at it like how does it affect free agency? How does it affect the salary cap? What does our team look like next year if the season were to end and not continue, and the playoffs weren’t to happen and there weren’t a champion to be crowned. I think all of those are unknown.
I could sit here for 24 straight hours and put down a sheet of paper, pros, cons, all these different scenarios, but I don’t think that does me any good. We don’t know. Nobody knows. The NBA is full of much smarter people than myself. Adam Silver is great. The owners are all very smart guys. The general managers are very smart guys. Obviously the player’s union, Michelle. Chris Paul. All them are very smart. I believe the best interest of as many players as possible and all the teams and the league itself will be what’s most important and what will be accomplished. So for me to worry about those sorts of things, sure, but at the same time it’s not gonna help me. I’m not gonna figure out, sitting in this apartment in the next month and a half, what the answers are.

SB: I wanted to ask you about being a free agent this offseason, and, as you said, we don’t know what will happen to the cap but there’s a chance it drops, given the hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue that will be lost — which could limit the amount of money teams are able or willing to pay. Respective of your own situation, I’m sure you’ve thought about that, and then also the idea that you might’ve played your last game with the Bucks. How difficult is it to cope with such an uncertain future?
PC: I definitely think about it but in the most simplistic terms. That’s one of the reasons I’ve always made sure I do other things outside of basketball. I’m not saying it’s because my basketball career is about to end, I’m just saying my dream was always to play in the NBA. Would I like to make a lot of money playing in the NBA? Absolutely. But if the cap gets affected there’s nothing I can do about it.
I want to continue to play in the NBA. I want to continue to be part of the Milwaukee Bucks as a championship contender, and I want to continue to help my team eventually win a championship, two, three, four, whatever it is. What my contract looks like while I’m doing that? If it was more money and more guaranteed years, absolutely, I’d love that. But as long as I’m here, as long as I’m playing, as long as I’m doing my job to continue to be an NBA player, a dream that I wanted to accomplish since I was a kid, it’s quite possible I make more money outside of basketball than I do in basketball when it’s all said and done.
The way that I’m trying to set up the real estate venture, the way that I’m trying to set up business outside of basketball, with, hopefully the relationships that I’ve built and will continue to build while I’m involved in the NBA, hopefully there’s a career after basketball. Maybe it’ll definitely be real estate, but maybe there’s something else. Maybe there’s a consulting role. Maybe there’s a front office role. Maybe there’s a league role. Maybe there’s something else for me because I don’t put all my chips in one basket. I can only control what I can control but I think the way that I’m setting up my life will at least allow me to have some flexibility as far as making money in the future, and continuing to play in the NBA for, hopefully, 10, 15 years.
SB: How has this pandemic impacted Beach House LLC, your real estate development company?
PC: We have a few job sites here in Milwaukee, we’ve got one that’s still moving forward. We got permission from the city because it’s right next to another building so for safety reasons they want us to make sure we get the foundation in and get some things there so it’s not just sitting as an open hole throughout this time. So I try to go by it once a day.
The name [Beach House LLC] might be changing soon, but one of our goals with real estate development is to mitigate risk. We’re trying to find distressed properties, we’re trying to find land, we’re trying to find things that we can create value in. My dad is a general contractor, I’ve been around it. So it’s not your typical real estate investments where you’re just investing in a property and banking on everybody that’s paying rent to at least cover the mortgage and give you a little bit of a return. We’re doing that but we’re doing it after we’re developing, fixing up or renovating a property. So in reality we’re kind of on both sides. We’re creating value in the property so the appreciation grows quicker, faster, more. And then we’re holding onto the asset and trying to cash flow it so it’s also making some money year after year. But in the long term, in the 10-year window, in the 15-year window, that’s when it really starts to make money.
I think as a professional athlete, the reason others have gotten involved is because we’re fortunate to have another source of income. How do you use that income to set up another source of income when that other source of income falls off? Aka, when your career is over, is there a way to utilize the money you’ve made in this career to set up another, arguably equal or close to equal, source of income afterwards. I think that’s kind of our goal with this.
In the short term, does [coronavirus] have an effect? Yeah, potentially. Does it also have an effect where you’re able to buy some property because prices drop? Potentially. I don’t really know how it’s going to fully affect it but in general it continues to go up over long periods of time. I think that’s what gives us an advantage in that world.
SB: Why change the name?
PC: I want it to reflect the story behind it. Beach House was an LLC that my father had for a house that he did back in Florida, way back when. I’d like to put it in something that shows athletes in business, something that’s unique about this actual story, because at the end of the day, if I’m able to do what I want to do in the business world I think it will be a unique story.
My main goal is, after seeing the 30 for 30, Broke, to shed some light, get some professional athletes involved [or] give them advice even if they don’t want to be involved and kind of help change the stigma that professional athletes go broke after their careers because they don’t know how to manage their money during, and shortly after.
SB: Have other players reached out for advice or even made requests to get involved over the past few weeks?
PC: I’d say a few have. I wouldn’t say as many as you’d think with all the time on our hands, but that’s also partly because I haven’t reached out to anyone either. What I’d like to do during this time is really think about what is that next growth for the real estate development company. We have five to 10 [professional athletes] involved in a number of different projects that we’ve done, so those are great one-off projects.
What is the next growth for my company? Is it raising a fund, or getting a bunch of guys together at a certain dollar amount? Is it trying to incorporate the pro athletes that I have with some of the businessmen that I’ve known and put them together for a fund or partnership where there’s a surplus of money, and now I’m going out, developing, buying, doing different things so that when one of the players in the NBA comes to town to play the Milwaukee Bucks next year, they’re able to go by the job site that we’re doing, and they’re able to see how it’s being built. They can see it in person and say ‘Hey, I own that.”
What is that next growth step for the company? That’s kind of what I’ve been utilizing my time and energy on during this hiatus, and hopefully in the next week or two I’ll have that answer and I’ll start to put something together for it. I’ll start to reach out to some players, or field some calls from some players and try to start to make it a bigger operation. Make it a bigger business.
SB: Are you mainly focused on properties in Milwaukee or looking to expand in the future?
PC: Location is the most important thing in real estate, so I want to expand to different areas. It’s just going to depend on the location in those different areas. I have two buildings, one that’s being built and one that’s gonna start being built in a few months around Notre Dame. I obviously know that area really well. We were able to get locations that are right near campus. You can probably hit a driver off your porch to campus.
There could be some similar growth in the future for the company. Some of the projects [Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum] is involved in, there’s no reason we couldn’t do a similar model around Lehigh. He’s obviously the biggest name to come from Lehigh in the professional sports world, so there’s no reason we can’t do some of those things. Those are the business ideas I love thinking about. But in the short term it’s about areas that we know and areas we have influence in and can get to relatively easily. We’re not locked to one city, is the short version of that answer.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports
SB: Circling it back to your playing career now, you competed in your first NBA Slam Dunk contest at All-Star Weekend last month. What was going through your head when the judges gave you a 45 after your first dunk?
PC: Honestly, I was ... that’s a great question. I don’t think I was as appalled at the time as a lot of people that I know. Did I think it could’ve been a little higher? Absolutely. But I wasn’t necessarily outraged, like, I like to think I’m pretty realistic. I like to think I’m relatively humble. That was my first dunk in an NBA dunk contest ever in my life. I was happy that I got it down on the first try, pulled off the White Man Can’t Jump thing pretty well, and then been able to share that moment with [Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich] and Giannis and Khris [Middleton] and Thanasis [Antetokounmpo] and my teammates. I thought it was pretty cool, so I was less concerned about one of the eights that could’ve been a nine. And by one of them I mean the only eight that could’ve been a nine. But that’s neither here nor there.
SB: Speaking of Giannis, you’ve been his teammate for a while and have a good relationship with him. With his upcoming free agency being one of the larger stories in the sport, do you ever talk about whether he’ll stay or go, or does it not really come up?
PC: It’s something I would talk about with him. We’re close enough friends where we definitely could. And I think our team is so close and so great as far as talking about things other than basketball, and business, and world issues, social issues. Kyle Korver brings a great element to those sorts of things. I think we have a very close knit team in our locker room.
I think sometimes it gets brought up randomly in passing and things like that, but I think at the end of the day, for us, it’s not as big of a deal as it is for the rest of the world. Obviously the city of Milwaukee, the team, everyone wants Giannis to be here forever. But Giannis has put himself in a position to provide for his family from growing up with nothing in Greece, and I don’t think you can fault Giannis for whatever decision he ends up making, that he believes is the best decision for him, his family, the people who are closest to him.
I’ll support him regardless of what he does, and I think the entire team will support him regardless of what he does. I think we’re building something pretty cool in Milwaukee so that will play a role, but it’s his decision and all of us will support what he does, whenever that decision comes to light.

Can I request Starmora 020-you look incredible in that?
20. “You look incredible in that.”
i wasn’t sure where to go with this one for a while tbh, but then i kept thinking about “what’s gonna happen to the gotg after they defeat thanos in infinity war???? what will gamora feel like????” and 1st of all are they even gonna defeat thanos in infinity war lmao, 2nd of all yeah this is the product of that line of thought ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s been a wild couple of days.
The battle with Thanos left everyone in all sorts ofemotional states, per usual with the team after big battles (Ego,unfortunately, comes to mind—must be something with evil dads), but the fact that they’d emerged victorious in defeating Thanos usually anchored everyone wheneverthings got too uncomfy. Well, for Peter, at least. Gamora’s a bit of adifferent story.
On the one hand she’s happy, like, crazy happy, in a way Peter’s never seen before. She’s not one tobe over-the-top with anything, of course, but it’s the little things henotices, like how much more she smileswhenever they meet eyes in any setting, or the way she holds his hand and can’tslow down her pace for him, just leading him excitedly on walks around theAvengers’ base. She also spends a lot more time with Nebula, talking with herover this and that, their conversations straying further and further away fromThanos and what he’d done to both of them.
Honestly, Gamora sounds like someone whose life was justextended, like, fifty years, which is cool, but also depresses him, in a way.
Because, on the other hand, she occasionally zones out, staring off into space until he jostles her, or she’ll wake up in the middle ofthe night thinking they’ve yet to actually fight Thanos, and she’s back tosquare one. Sometimes she even has these, like, existential crises, questioningwhat the hell she’s supposed to do with her life now, after so much of it was consumedby Thanos; the last time she’d felt this free, she once told him, she’d been a child.
Peter does his best to stick by her through it all, though, because she’s done the same for him for years now, after he’s gotten caught upin traumatic events, because she loves him and he loves her and emotionalintimacy and support is just their thing.
Gradually, Gamora’s getting better, mellowing out from herintense emotions, and Peter’s just happy to be there for her.
And, apparently, the Avengers like to celebrate in style—Stark’s words—by throwing wildparties after big victories. (Which is, like, cool and all, but how do they allmanage to get over the emotional scarring so quickly? He’ll have to ask around at the party.)
It’s to be held at the Avengers’ Tower in New York City, andit takes Peter some convincing, because his team isn’t all that great at beingsociable.
“I don’t wanna party it up with any humies,” Rocket hadgrumbled when Peter announced their invitation. “Their alc sucks. It’s weak as shit.”
“I am Groot.”
“Tha’s right, Groot, they also think we’re all a bunch’a freaks, so they’ll just stare the wholetime.” Rocket crossed his arms. “Count us out.”
“If one of them bothers me—“
“No, you may not remove their spine, Drax,” Peter cut in.
“Then I will not attend, either.”
“Neither will I,” Mantis chimed in. “I am too ugly.”
“Mantis, you’re not ugly,” Gamora reminded.
“I hate Terrans,” Nebula said simply, crossing her arms overher chest and giving Peter a pointed look.
“I just don’t want to go,” Kraglin said with a shrug. “Gotbetter alcohol on the ship.”
That conversation transpired the day before and, honestly,Peter’s okay with literally none ofthem attending, because that greatly decreases the chances of anything exploding or anyone dying, but since he’s the team leader andTerran, well, he’s gotta go to represent. Thankfully, Gamora’s attending withhim.
“As my date,” he’dteased her.
“You just asked me to marry you not that long ago.”
“Still.”
Now they’re getting ready, Peter standing in front of theirmirror to adjust his collar as Gamora changes behind him.
“Okay, if the Avengers’ party turns out to be lame, I thinkwe should go back to the ship with the others and hang out there,” he suggestsabsentmindedly. “What do you think?”
“I think that’s a good backup plan,” she comments, pullingon the dress she’d borrowed from Natasha Romanoff, who’s become something of afriend to Gamora recently, from what Peter’s witnessed.
As he finishes adjusting his suit, he turns around to faceGamora, who’s looking down at her dress. It’s simple and black—much like therest of her wardrobe, he makes a mental note to tease her—but fits nicely, theskirt falling loosely just above her knees. She then turns her eyes up to him.
“Well?”
“I think,” he closes the distance between them, taking herhands in his, “you look incredible in that.”
“Thank you.” She smiles briefly, then looks at himexpectantly. “Anything else?”
He gives a tiny grin. “You really like the color black, don’t you?”
She rolls her eyes (affectionately). “I expected nothingless.”
Flirting through teasing is one of several pillars in their relationship, honestly. Despite the warmth in her expression, though, he can sense something’s still off, in the way she’s holding herself and looking at him with a somewhat tight smile.
“You still sure about going to this thing?” he asks, leadingher over to sit down on the bed with him. Neither of them had gotten much sleepthe night before, after nightmares led to some intense heart-to-heartconversations, which left them too restless to sleep. “I mean, I’msure it’ll be fun, but…”
“We don’t have to go if you don’t want to,” she says simply.
“But do you wantto go?”
She shrugs. “I’m indifferent.”
It’s just weird,in a way. They’re about to attend a party to celebrate the death of her eviladoptive father, hosted and attended by a bunch of people who didn’t actually know him, really, until he startedthreatening Earth, while Gamora had to deal with him personally for years.
He presses his shoulder against hers. “Is there another way you’drather celebrate?
She rests her head against his shoulder, looking down attheir connected hands. “I’m not even sure I wantto celebrate. Maybe just…move on with my life. With you and the others. Put himbehind me.”
“That’s valid,” he says, his thumb rubbing the back of herhand. “Maybe we should skip out on tonight, then.”
“We already got dressed and everything.”
“Then we’ll have our own private party!” As he starts tomove, she lifts her head from his shoulder. He stands up, looking down at her. “Iprobably have better music than they do, anyway.”
“Won’t they notice if we don’t show up?”
“Eh, whatever.” As she stands up, he pulls his Zune out ofhis pocket, letting go of her hand so he can untangle the earbuds. When he’sdone, he holds one of them out for her to take. “May I have this dance?”
She looks between him and his hand for a few moments, seemingly unsure over ditching the Avengers, but he catches the way hershoulders relax and her eyes soften, clear of the anxiety of having to attend aparty all about Thanos (even if it’s for his death). Then she smiles, taking the earbud and putting it in herleft ear. He does the same with his right as she steps closer to him.
He settles on “Open Arms” by Journey because sure, why not,and hands the Zune to Gamora to hold as she drapes her arms around his neck. His hands settle on her hips and they sway with the music.
This is comfortable, familiar. And probably way more funthan that Avengers party, anyway, because Thanos may fade from their mindstomorrow or the day after, but for Gamora (and, by extension, Peter), he madeup too big of a part of her life to ever really completely fade away, and that’sokay, it’s not her fault.
By the time they’re at the second verse, they’re basicallyjust hugging, really, still swaying slowly with the song, and Peter rests theside of his head against hers, closing his eyes.
“Thank you, Peter,” she murmurs softly, and he holds hermore tightly in response.

The Great Struggle to the Bottom
Tumblr media
The AON Center in Chicago is 83 floors and 1,136 feet high. And at the time I worked there, it was the second-tallest building in the city. From the 70th floor, where I worked, the views were just asinine. The cars on Michigan Avenue looked like ants. The people down on Randolph Street were specks of dust. I could look OUT at the endless lake and basically feel fine, but looking straight DOWN made me feel queasy and I never, ever got used to it.
We were up so high, in fact, that they let our chain-smoking secretaries and storeroom guys just light up on the 70th floor. They got grandfathered or grandmothered in to indoor smoking in some designated areas, which was far more time-efficient than making them take elevators all the way down, head outside and then back through security twenty five times a day. This was 15 years ago in Chicago, mind you, so good luck telling some middle-aged woman from like, Berwyn that she has to either give up her Virginia Slims or brave the frigid winter air just off the lake.
The amazing thing was, sometimes I would see these ladies at the elevators as everyone was heading down for lunch. And occasionally one or two would stay behind and say they were gonna take the stairs. I remember just thinking, “Good for them.” Sometimes I’d even say it out loud and people would nod in agreement. It WAS good for them. And I never actually considered what that would entail or how impressive a feat that was for these women - most likely actual grandmothers, whose ages were impossible for a kid straight out of college to ascertain - to head down all those stairs. They looked 99% like Allison Janney in “I, Tonya” and zero percent like health nuts. But since nobody else reacted with shock and horror to them doing this, my brain never questioned that these frail, hacking, wheezing old women took the stairs all the way down to the lobby for their lunch. I’d never experienced it myself, so who was I to judge?
Not long after I started my entry-level job there at the AON Center, I got promoted and sent to training on the 71st floor. Whereas the atmosphere on 70 was fun and lively and filled with the cubicles of a hundred other kids straight out of Big Ten schools just like me, the 71st floor felt like cruel and unusual punishment by comparison. They treated training like we were Navy Seals. Pages of memorization and testing. Rigidly enforced time management. Strictly suit and tie attire. Zero breaks. At one point I was admonished in front of my class for needing a haircut. For fucking phone sales. I had four trainers and hated three of them. I thought I was going to quit. They thought I was going to quit. So from time to time, I’d get called back down to 70 by one of the managers there to give me a ‘stick with it’ pep talk. And more often than not, I’d just sneak down there anyway to see my friends from that floor and to vent. I just hated it.
When I got caught sneaking off in the elevator, I’d lie, feign embarrassment, and say I had to poop and preferred the bathrooms on 70. When that stopped working (since absolutely nobody preferred the bathrooms on 70), I figured out a stairwell I could use with my security badge and figured they’d be none the wiser. They quickly got ‘the wiser’. And each time, I’d be publicly scolded, I’d be punished and I’d make my own shitty situation even worse. That is, I guess, except for the last time I got caught.
On this particular day, probably in the winter of 2004, as I headed down the stairwell the door from 71 seemed to close behind me in slow motion. “Oh FUCK,” was all I could blurt out. In my haste to sneak away from training, I’d completely forgotten my security badge and was now trapped between the 70th and 71st floors of the building. I tried banging on the door to 71 to no avail. And then tried and failed again on 70. As I stood there for few beats in a dead panic, wearing the suit my mom bought me for my sister’s wedding, I remembered the chain-smoking Allison Janneys from the 70th floor and decided since I had no time to spare, I might as well do what they would do and walk all the way down to the lobby and head back up in the elevator. I was young. I didn’t look like I was about to die. So surely this had to be the best plan, as well as the fastest way to do it. In no time, I’d be back in training and in the clear.
This is one of the worst ideas I’ve ever had.
Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever walked down 71 industrial flights of stairs, but a few bad things start happening to you. First of all, your ‘going down the stairs’ leg muscles have had no real-world experience for this and they become completely useless within minutes. You’re mostly just jelly-legging it and by the end, your body has produced all new completely useless muscles just to provide you with a deeply-felt agony. It’ll be the only thing you feel below your waist. Your legs are garbage. You truly have no way of knowing this until you actually do something so stupid.
The second bad thing that happens, is that you start to get dizzy. And like, dizzier than you can ever possibly imagine. Picture yourself going down four flights of stairs in a parking garage. You are on those stairs for such a short amount of time that you don’t even realize you’re basically just walking downhill in a circle. If you go down 71 FLIGHTS of stairs, it’s like a never-ending baseball-bat-on-the-forehead spin race. Except this time, your legs are also deteriorating at a rapid rate. So your ever-increasing stumbles send you careening off of brick walls and iron railings. The clangs of your shitty Kenneth Cole dress shoes echoing off 1000+ feet of metal and concrete is all you hear while your eyes completely glaze over and the most elemental, lizard part of your brain, which is all that’s left, keeps urging you to push on downward. And downward. And down.
The final piece of advice I’d give you if you are to decide to take the plunge down 71 flights of stairs is to not wear the suit your mom bought you for your sister’s wedding. But in this particular instance, it probably ended up being my only saving grace. But I’ll get to all that in a second.
Eventually I made it all the way down to the lobby. And I’d never been so happy to see that lobby in my life. That lobby usually meant I was heading to work before 8 AM. Or back from lunch. Either way, I hated that lobby. But this time I could have kissed the floor like Jordan when he said goodbye to Chicago Stadium in ‘94. Except I felt a lot more like Jordan in the “Flu Game” during the ’97 Finals. Everything felt like it was moving and spinning. Like when you get off a treadmill and your body takes 30 seconds to decide you’re no longer on it, but multiplied by 71. My legs had broken all the way down into full ‘goofball’ mode. And I dipped and bobbed erratically around the lobby as my mind tried to aim my body at the elevators.
I knew I was fucked. I’m not sure exactly how long this endeavor had taken. But I’m guessing it took a second per stair, 20 stairs to a floor… not factoring rest time, at least 24 minutes.  Possibly much, much longer. I don’t know. By the end of it, my brain was broken and time no longer existed. But now, as the elevator headed back up to where I started, I was preparing for the worst. And here’s where my suit came in handy.
Suits, by large, are not ideal workout clothes. And so unbeknownst to me, in the haze of my Great Struggle to the Bottom, I’d also managed to drench myself in sweat from head to toe. I looked like a drunken Ted Kennedy emerging from the pond at Chappaquiddick, ready to tell his side of the story. AND My trainers were waiting for me, arms-crossed-negative and ready to do their worst.
When they saw me, all sloshy-shoed with my knees buckling and my suit sweated all the way through, their faces changed. We all just looked at each other. Then one of them asked, “What the hell happened to YOU?”
And I just came out with it. All of it. I told them the truth.
Then we looked at each other some more.
And they. Just. Started. Fucking. Dying.
Like, I’m just standing there, wobbly, preparing to be shit-canned. And they are doubled over, slapping their legs and pointing at me. This lasted for a while, until one of them started picturing the logistics of everything I’d just done and goes, “Why didn’t you just use one of the emergency call boxes??? They’re every five floors. Why would you POSSIBLY think to go all the way down 71 flights of stairs???”
And so I brought up the chain-smoking ladies. “I don’t know. I thought if they can do it, so can I.”
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT?!?!?”
“I heard them say they walk down for lunch. Right?”
“WHAT?!? DUDE! NO!!! WHAT??? MIKE! Their offices are on 68! They just smoke on 70! They only walk from 70 to 68!”
And then, “Wait, wait, wait, wait. So you thought… (Deep breath) AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! (Deep howling breath) BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!”
Now they’re on the ground. Two trainers. Slowly crumbling into a pile of mocking laughter. While I stood there half feeling like I’d just done the dumbest thing I’d ever done in my life. Half wondering if I might have just gotten away with a fireable offense. It’s a crazy feeling. Plus, you know, the way I actually FELT physically.
Within minutes, everyone knew. Everyone. And I’m talking about 3 entire floors of people in the AON Center. “Did you hear about that kid in training?” “Yeah. Holy shit! What a fucking idiot!” I was all the rage in my office for the rest of the week. And they fucking LOVED me for it. I had zero problems with my trainers for the remainder of my time in training. Morale had never been higher. I eventually headed back down to 70, graduating from bootcamp with slaps on the back, almost like some sort of celebrated mascot for the worst human being any of them had ever experienced. Years later, this time in an office out by O’Hare, I found out they still told that story downtown in training. I had become this legendary example of what NOT to do. And I’d get a “That was YOU???,” reaction every time I fessed up to my crimes of stupidity.
Within four years, I’d already be gone. Off to L.A. to try to make it in show business. I’ve had a little bit of success in my time here. My old company has since filed for bankruptcy and are essentially out of business, their fatal flaw probably having something to do with scoffing at upstart competitors, "Google Dot Com" and “The Internet” as frivolous bullshit that real people didn’t use. I’m guessing you haven’t picked up a Yellow Pages in years. My company sold those ads. But hey, I’m not bashing them. They were kind enough to employ me. And they forgave countless offenses committed by me, their worst employee, because they believed I had talent. My manager had an ongoing top 10 list for the worst excuses I ever gave for calling in sick. So I’m grateful for my time there. And if there’s one showbiz cliche I believe in, it’s that you should be kind to everyone on your way up, because you’re gonna see all the same people when you get stuck on the 71st-floor stairwell and stumble, sweating and dizzy because you misheard chain-smoking old ladies by the elevator, on your way down.

For freshman going into art school: the bare bones recommendations
So ya chose to go to an art school... That’s great! 4 years of coffee and easy mac with a tin of paint thinner are in your future, friend!
But what do you actually need for an art school? Do you need the master set of pastels and oils or do you just need a pencil? Honestly... It depends on the school.
BUT!! From my own personal experience at the Kansas City Art Institute, I’m going to make a list of things to bring and what not to bring (at least on move in day).
HERE WE GO!
The dorm.
Every college is different on how their dorms work. Some are communal (like KCAI) some are single room apartments. But these basics should help you know what to buy and what to leave behind
( NOTE: every college has a different guide on what to bring and what not to bring. Please adhere to your school’s rules to avoid fines.)
YES list--the things you absolutely should bring
-mini fridge (2.5 cubic ft is good, if you share with your roommate you can go bigger)
-microwave; you OR your roommate. no one needs 2 microwaves.
-string lights. for when ya wanna see your desk but your roommate’s asleep.
-small trashcan. bring a pack of trashbags--draw string is the best.
-shower caddy/bag with flip flops. shower shoes are expensive, flip flops work the same.
-house shoes. for those cold days and walking to the bathroom.
-a small shelf/storage ottoman/storage seat. You want to have space to store your dry foods and textbooks, but you wanna be able to have a seat other than your desk chair.
-shoe organizer. whether it actually holds your shoes or not, this is great or organizing things. socks, cleaning supplies, hairspray and febreeze are off your desk and out of your closet.
-door mirror. you can get some pretty good ones for cheap at walmart or target. be sure of your door dimensions first though.
-2nd phone charger/long phone cable. for charging your phone in bed or at your desk. you never know how far away the outlet will be.
-fairly new power strip. just to be safe and to plug all your stuff into.
-body pillow if you don’t like cold walls.
-a notebook for each class that involves reading or note taking. you might think you can use a binder for all your classes, but easier organization and lighter backpacks are always good. also keep a highlighter and pen with each notebook. it’ll be well worth it, trust me. no one likes losing pens on exam days.
-at least 2 rolls of quarters (about $20). laundry. it costs $. at KCAI my laundry usually runs at $3.25 because i add a little more drying time.
-some sort of storage for your desk that isn’t super heavy. I’m currently using both a plastic crate from walmart for books and a cardboard box to keep stuff away from where I work.
-water filter pitcher. water purity is different everywhere, and even though the water may be clean, a lot of people get sick their first week in a new area just because of the water difference. a filter eases that discomfort just a bit more.
-folding laundry hamper. I say folding because it’s easier on move in day and it holds more. win win!
-basic cleaning supplies. messes happen.
-ETHERNET Cable. the wi-fi WILL go out while you’re at school. it’s just going to. so have an ethernet cable the proper length from the plug to your desk for your computer. (Note: ethernet is only best when the wi-fi is out. it connects to main campus computers and that’s dangerous. PLEASE only use when the wi-fi is down.)
___
NO!! list--leave this behind.
-your massive collection of books. I have too many here myself, but you’re not gonna read or use personal reference books as much as you think. Bring only what you use more than once a month.
-stereo system. no one likes overly noisy neighbors.
-pots and pans. unless you live in a swanky apartment dorm with a kitchen, you’re never gonna use that stuff. a coffee mug, bowl, and a microwave are as about as 4-star restaurant as you’re gonna get.
-movies in cases/videogames WITH cases. use a cd binder. works the same and saves space.
-a bunch of fancy clothes. you’ll really only need 2, maybe 3 nice outfits in art school. pack 2 weeks of tops with 1 week of pants. saves space and laundry you have to do if you alternate weeks. coats, jackets, and cardigans are up to your style.
-anything that takes up more floor space than your fridge or ottoman. UNLESS you know for a fact that you’re gonna set up your desk under your bed in a “T” formation, there’s not much room. so consider a floor pouf or a cushion to go behind the ottoman to make a seat with a back.
-a bunch of purses, shoes, or hats. Again, UNLESS you know exactly how the room is laid out it’s hard to figure out space. if you use a purse, 2 maybe 3 is the most you’ll need. shoes are basically this: everyday, everyday #2, shoes for rain/snow, 2 pairs of nicer shoes, and flip flops for the room if you don’t use houseshoes.
-your vast collection of coffee/tea mugs. I’m sorry, but you’re gonna have to pick favorites. at most you’ll use 2-3. I personally only have 1 here and then I have my water bottle.
____
Other than those things, check with your school list when it’s available to you to see what you need and what you don’t. Once you’ve filled the checklist THEN you can start bringing other things like books, pillows, electric kettles, irons, etc.
Every school is different, and KCAI has its own guidelines on what is or isn’t allowed. See what rules you can wiggle around and disguise based on your own needs. (aka not illegal stuff. duh. but like mattress pads and extension cords.
Now that the dorm is covered, let’s get to actual art stuff!
The short answer: every school’s different. and KCAI’s freshman/ foundations year is unique compared to other schools’. The reason being is that aside from animation and film, foundation year is like a free sample buffet on what majors there are. We have still lifes, charcoal, woodshop, illustration, writing, sculpture, painting, and individualized work all year. 2nd semester is when classes get more focused but still. it’s kinda crazy but really nice in the long run.
The budget that’s recommended IS a bit um... well... depends on the teacher. I personally had a teacher who liked for us to do a bunch of stuff without fully using our materials or would have assignments where new materials would run out and we’d have to buy more.
A safe budget for supplies is about $200 per semester. Now, that’s for supplies only. Take into account food and amazon shipping and emergencies for the rest of your $.
___
Stuff you’ll need that they don’t tell you in the beginning of the year
KCAI offers a “FOUNDATION KIT” at the beginning of the year that is about $250 all together. The list they give you is well organized so you can buy stuff on your own to save money. See what you already have or can buy for cheaper prices before you buy the kit.
Now, again, every teacher is different. Here’s the BASIC list based on mine and other friends’ experiences.
-glue gun.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. usually comes with foundation kit. I got a nice Superbonder dual temp. gun at Hobby Lobby with a stand. Works great and has a long cord.
-more hot glue sticks than you thought was possible. sold in the KCAI campus art store. sculpture and cardboard are gonna be big parts in the beginning of the year, but you’ll be thankful later on. be SURE you’re using dual temp. sticks and the proper size for your glue gun.
-sandpaper/ sandpaper block.   sold in the KCAI campus art store. not too expensive, like $5. the sanders are gonna be busy in woodshop.
-safety goggles. sold in the KCAI campus art store. wood dust and/chips hurt. just get some simple safety glasses.
-masks. sold in the KCAI campus art store. not too expensive. get a new one every 3 weeks. about 2 needed in total.
-measuring tape.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. OR go to walmart/home depot for cheaper. mine is a 12 ft self-lock one. it’s pretty good.
-painter’s tape.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. I think it comes in the foundation kit, but you’re gonna run out. get at walmart for cheaper.
-(not a need but it’s super helpful) trashbag taped to your desk. saves trips to the trashcan and helps your space stay tidier.
-speedball carver.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. to carve screenprinting rubber stamps when you get into pattern. PERSONALLY I ordered a set of wood whittling tools on amazon that work the same, were cheaper, and work on more than just rubber stamps (pumpkin carving!!)
-baby wipes. you don’t really NEED these, as sinks exist, but when you work with charcoal and you don’t have enough time between the next drawing or lunch, these help a bunch.
-push pins.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. teachers recommend the metal ones, I just use the clear plastic ones. less distracting when critiquing.
-BIG ruler, more of a yard stick.  sold in the KCAI campus art store(?) I think it comes in the foundation kit, but you can always just buy a cheaper metal yard stick or share with a friend.
-drawing pencils.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. comes with foundation kit. I’m not talking #2 pencil you use all the time, I’m talking 4B and 6H and such. Get a decent set with a sharpener.
-vine charcoal.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. comes with foundation kit. this charcoal goes away FAST. get an extra box before classes start.
-white chalk.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. for when your charcoal is just not erasing.
-X-acto knife.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. comes with foundation kit. the blade is gonna dull down eventually so get an extra for later.
-box cutter.  sold in the KCAI campus art store. think it comes with the foundation kit. Now, I personally am terrified of box cutters because I over-think injury possibilities, so I just use my x-acto knife (hello dull blades). But unless you’re a scaredy-cat like me, a simple box cutter is needed.
-cutting mat, self-healing. sold in the KCAI campus art store (I thiiiiink). those weird green mats you see in sewing sections or on artist speed-draws? yeah you’re gonna need one. Big is good, small is fine too.
___
Other stuff depends on the teacher. Trips to Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Blick, Creative Coldsnow (kansas city), or other places for supplies IS gonna happen. If you don’t drive, find friends who are doing supply runs too and carpool.
Art school is crazy and it’s fun, but it IS college. So keep a weekly schedule, take notes, and do your homework.
Good luck!

Creedy Rambles-
So this is just gonna be a new thing I do on occasion when I can’t focus on drafts or messages, where I’m going to talk about stuff related to TSP, fandoms, tumblr and roleplaying in general. I’ll be tagging these specifically, and they’ll all be under a read more. So if you don’t want to see them, just blacklist the tag.
REGARDING OC’s:
THIS IS NOT MEANT TO OFFEND ANYONE OR THEIR CHARACTER, SIMPLY IT IS TO HELP PEOPLE WHO WANT TO IMPROVE AND EDUCATE PEOPLE ON WHAT IS ORIGINAL IN A CHARACTER AND WHAT ISN’T- BASED OFF OF HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE DO IT.
Before I start in I’ll quickly identify what an OC is-
OC or Original Character, is a person or entity developed entirely with the creative mind of one person and does not stem from an existing copyright/franchise.
Essentially- it is a being that you made up. You made up their personality, backstory, appearance- all of it. Yes, you probably got inspiration from other places or characters, but it is still your own character. They can be set in a specific game/movie/book or any franchise, or you can make up your own world for them.
Now unfortunately on Tumblr, Oc’s face A LOT of criticism and backlash. Not necessarily because Oc’s are bad.. but because of the stereotype that they’re bad.
And even worse, this stereotype is often very true, in the sense that- people do NOT understand how to make a character.
People make a character, but its not really original. Because it conforms to ALL the stereotypes that other people’s OC’s have. Thus negating its originality in the first-place. Making it ironically an UNoriginal character.
And it kills me, because those Oc’s ruin it for the GOOD Oc’s out there.
I’ve been on Tumblr for only around 2-ish years and I’ve seen HUNDREDS of Oc’s. Some AMAZING and others horrid.
And It hurts me that the good Oc’s aren’t given a chance because of the negative association with stereotypical ‘bad’ oc’s.
Now I bet you’re asking- ‘Creedy, what are some of the things people do that make BAD Oc’s? Surely it can’t be that bad, that people on tumblr sometimes won’t even consider writing with them, right?’
Sadly, that is completely correct.
Disclaimer: Sometimes people won’t write with your OC simply because they don’t like them, and thats THEIR problem. Not yours.
So let me give a quick rundown and reasoning as to what people do that give Oc’s (GENERALLY) a bad name-
1. Mary Sue / Gary Stu
Okay, we’ve all heard these ones. But if you haven’t- A Mary Sue is basically a stereotypical OC with NO FLAWS. She’s often described as ‘smart, pretty, honest, kind, and amazing at everything she does’.. okay.
That is already a HUGE red flag.
And even moreso- the only ‘flaw’ these characters will sometimes have is ‘clumsiness’ or some other attribute that doesn’t directly negatively effect the character’s personality, and is usually used as a trope to get that character closer to what they want... which is NOT what a flaw is supposed to do.
And if you think that your character is somehow unique in spite of all this- the FIRST instance of a Mary Sue goes as far back as 1973. In a Star Trek Fanfiction
Mary Sue stories—the adventures of the youngest and smartest ever person to graduate from the academy and ever get a commission at such a tender age. Usually characterized by unprecedented skill in everything from art to zoology, including karate and arm-wrestling. This character can also be found burrowing her way into the good graces/heart/mind of one of the Big Three [Kirk, Spock, and McCoy], if not all three at once. She saves the day by her wit and ability, and, if we are lucky, has the good grace to die at the end, being grieved by the entire ship.[7]
If your character matches this description, I’m sorry but- they are NOT original. If they’re good at basically everything with no flaws (especially at a younger than normal age) that character is by all means considered a Mary Sue. A Gary Stu just being the male counterpart.
How to fix this:
Now there IS a line in the sand. Your character can be young and good at things, nothing wrong with that. But make sure you add in some flaws such as- ‘unintelligent, rude, brash, liar, insecure, boring, cruel’. And make it so that there are things they hate in the world, and people that hate them. Mary Sues are also often depicted with everyone liking them, but as we all know that is simply not realistic. Create enemies or rivals for your character- or Hell, even someone they just plain dislike.
2. DO NOT COME UP WITH EVERYTHING ON THE SPOT
This^^^ Is important
Do not force your ideas. Do not try and just pull a character out of your ass, because then that character will be shit.
Take your time, no pressure.
You do not have to come up with their favorite color immediately- or even finish their backstory.
Somedays you may like an idea but later on you might realize it was stupid or unfitting, and vice versa.
Be patient and pace yourself
But lets say you’ve already kinda rushed it with your character, no biggie.
How to fix it:
Again, take your time. Don’t immediately go deleting everything you dislike about your character. Put it on the backburner and give it time to boil, slowly but surely- it will come to you.
3. Do not LIST things.
Unfortunately I’m also guilty of this one, as is most Tumblr rpers.
When you make an about page for your character- listing the name, age, birth. Thats okay. But why do it that way when you can show off your writing skills a bit?
And don’t make giant random pointless lists of likes and dislikes. Place them in relevant categories.
How to fix it:
Instead of doing the following:
Likes: Swords, rock, fighting, snow.
Do this:
Aya lives outcast in the snowy tundra nearly 20 miles from the nearest city, but it suits her just fine. The harsh snow is actually quite comforting and she can’t imagine living anywhere else. Additionally she has a fiery passion for sword-play, and practices as often as she can in her own private training room. The adrenaline of fighting keeps her fit and on her toes, and it drives her to do the best she possibly can each day. Aya also has a great taste in music, hard rock to be specific. She enjoys rocking out to AC/DC while battling her training dummy.
Is it a bit long and drawn out? Maybe, but it’ll give that person a better idea on how you write and how descriptive you are. Its not a cookie-cutter sort of process anymore.
4. No Eye-bleeding color schemes.
Dear sweet baby Jesus.
Look, sometimes it works. But a good 99.9% of the time- using every color of the rainbow WILL NOT WORK.
When you do that, it looks like someone crushed the color out of every sharpie that exists and dumped it on your character.
Its not pretty or cute or creative, because everyone has done it and it hurts to look at. Especially if you choose NEON OVER BLACK. You will burn someone’s eyes out, don’t do that.
Here is a basic read-up on Color Theory and some beautiful Color Palettes, to give you an idea.
How to fix it:
Now look, rainbow coloring in itself isn’t bad. But instead of just choosing the brightest colors you can find. Go to google and search for a color palette and use that. A good chunk of canon characters generally have a set of 5-6 colors in the same moodset that they stick to.
Also tacking on this: generally make your character’s clothing simple. Don’t add too many crazy patterns or random hats and glasses and wings and tails just.. unless you can justify it in their backstory properly- stick to a standard set of clothing and then maybe tack on a maximum of 3 accessories. A bracelet, a fancy hairtie and glasses.. okay done! Simple but cute!
5. Do not base that character entirely on a character that already exists (especially if you intend them to be in the same fandom)
It does not take skill or originality to take Elmo and turn him blue and then call him ‘Omle’
That is not an ‘original’ character and its not ‘inspired’ off of Elmo- yet I see people do this all the time.
Now look, this one is hit or miss. Sometimes it works and its cool, but most of the time it doesn’t. Especially if they’re in the same franchise.
Inspiration =/= Copying
How to fix it:
Unfortunately if you’ve done this you may need to make drastic changes with your character. But that doesn’t mean you HAVE to take away everything, you can just add new stuff. A change of clothes, skin color, eye color, maybe body shape, swap out some personality traits and boom- you’ve already got something more original than what you’ve started with!
6. Simple, my God.. simple
Meet Simplicity, no- they’re not an OC. But they’re gonna be your new best friend.
Simplicity is what you need. No over amount of accessories, powers, positive OR negative personality traits. Just a nice SIMPLE amount.
How to fix this:
Again if you’re not comfortable putting your character through drastic changes. Then this won’t be for you. Try and limit yourself with a set number of general stuff about your character. Like top five positive traits, and top five negative traits. Okay-
Compassionate, Goofy, Hilarious, Bubbly, Kind
Airheaded, nervous, panicky, oblivious, naive.
Notice how all of these traits generally have something in common or similar to the ones next to them? That is what a character is supposed to be like. Different enough to be their own thing, but similar enough to still ‘blend’ with that character. They OVERLAP each other.
7. I...I’m not sure what to call this one?
But basically- if your character is lets say.. ‘the sonic oc’. Make sure they look as though they’re from the sonic universe, but also doesn’t look too similar to a character already in that universe.
ALSO DO NOT USE BASES.
Any art you do will be SO MUCH BETTER and IMPROVE YOU SO MUCH MORE than ANY base you use.
Bases are actually proven to make your art skills WORSE.
Here is a POSE sight used to help artists draw, this is better to use.
Disclaimer: Using bases as references is fine. Do not copy it pose-per-pose. But maybe you just want to get a general idea of that character so you look at a base- thats fine. But do not copy it.
How to fix it:
Again you may need to redesign your character if this is the case.
Can’t draw? Thats alright, a detailed description can generally be enough for an OC. And even if you feel like your art sucks, practice makes perfect. I promise you.
8. Fit the personality with the appearance.
A character in a dark hood with circles under his eyes that look soul-crushing probably won’t have the personality of a six year old girl.
When you make a character who has a sad or depressive general mood or personality, match that with colors and clothing articles. Like blue or fluffy sweaters.
Think of the emotions in Pixar’s Inside Out. Their appearance directly correlates to their personality and the emotion they give off. That is what makes them good characters.
How to fix it:
Again, a redesign might be in order.
9. Long V.s Short Backstories
Alright so theres a huge doublestandard on Tumblr that I CANNOT STAND.
On one hand- people reprimand you if your backstory is too short. Alright, fair enough. Its their life story, I’m supposed to make it long and specific right?
WRONG!!!!!!
Because then people will get lazy and not even bother to read your character’s backstory because apparently 7 pages is ‘too much’.
How to fix this:
So, what do?
You make both.
You make a small summary of your character with something like ‘Very brief history’ and then you expand upon it under the summary with a title like ‘detailed/specific history.’ At least that way people can’t piss on you for your story being too short or too long.
10. The stereotypical ‘Tragic backstory’
Okay. I’m guilt of this. I’m SEVERELY guilty of this.
However, a tragic backstory isn’t bad.. as long as there is reason behind it.
When you have a character- having sad or horrible things happen in their life is good. Otherwise they’d just be another Mary Sue. But you don’t want to completely make your character miserable unless they call for it.
Lets say your character is blind- it makes sense that they could’ve had a tragic accident that blinded them.
But if your character was bruised or beaten for...seemingly no reason and it had no effect on them personality wise.. why is it there? What was the point in throwing it into their story?
A smiley, bubbly character who is constantly happy and has nothing wrong with them is not going to have ‘Macbeth’ as their backstory. And vice versa.
How to fix this:
Add happier or brighter moments in their life, intervals where things weren’t so bad. Role models, hobbies and when they learned them. Things like that.
On the other end (if they’re too happy) Add some sad parts. Struggles they’ve had, confrontations they won’t forget etc. etc.
11. Research.
I’m not saying you have to write a book report, but looking up on google about real-world locations, how certain jobs and processes (such as being arrested, giving birth, whatever is relevant to the character/your thread) will do you some good in an rp. And you might learn something!
And this is not meant to offend anyone.
Alright. Now I want to say that yeah- you can get away with some of this stuff. I list things, sometimes my characters are over the top, or their color scheme isn’t great. And people still think the character is good.
But it IS highlighting the things literally EVERYONE ELSE HAS DONE, therefore making these tropes unoriginal and making your character unoriginal. This is meant to give tips on how to make your character more original.
Do you have to change it if you don’t want to? No.
Is your character so awful it’ll make me vomit if you don’t follow these rules? No.
But if you want to improve upon your creativity, these steps will do nothing but HELP you in the long run. I promise!

Buying a Used Car from a Dealer
buying a used car will always suck because you don't want to get ripped off and you don't want to end up in a car that you totally regret buying now in this video I'm going over the three key steps on how to buy a used car from a dealer so that you can buy one knowing that you're getting the best value possible if you just found this channel I'm Jason with honest finance and I make a lot of videos on different financial topics so if you are interested feel free and subscribing or at least give this video a like and now onto buying a used car so if you're shopping for a used car there are definitely some advantages over buying new to consider I mean think about the fact that most new cars lose about 30 to 40 percent of their value in just the first five years and when most of these cars are five years old they're probably only gonna have about sixty thousand miles on them so that is a really good deal considering it's 40 percent cheaper than it was when it was new think about it like this would you rather buy a brand new crappy little commuter car with roll-up windows for $15,000 or would you rather buy a used car with 60,000 miles for the same price with every single feature on the planet upgrades depreciate the most on new cars so if you want Bluetooth leather seats and all that kind of stuff then buying used is something to really consider and not to mention the used car is probably a lot safer too because it was more expensive to begin with keep in mind that the best value for a used car is when they're only about two to eight years old and they only have 24 to 96 thousand miles on them this is the best time to buy a car because it'll be plenty reliable and the worst of the depreciation is over with now obviously your budget is important here so make sure to buy a car that you can afford but just keep in mind that its best value is gonna be before it hits ninety six thousand miles and sometimes buying a new car like a year-end one might not be that much more expensive than a used one so it is something to consider but if you are open to buying a new car then you can watch this video right here now you've got to understand there are three key steps in order to get the best value in buying a used car from a dealer you've got to do a lot of research on the car you've got to get the best price for the car and you've got to get the best financing for the car as well now when it comes to buying a used car research is huge because they still cost a lot of money and the last thing you want is some random repair bill right after you buy the car you'll want to check Edmonds comm TrueCar comm and Kelley Blue Book for the best online research for car buying these websites will help you decide which car is right for you and what you should be paying for it the first used car I ever bought was a huge mistake because I didn't do enough research before I bought the car I paid about three thousand dollars too much for that car and I found out after the fact that it was a rental car and it had been smoked in and to all you smokers out there do not smoke in your car because the resale value will go down because of the smoking now obviously you need to research the car safety and its resale value but also pay attention to its repair costs and the maintenance schedule as well trust me you don't want to buy a used car that's right on the line to needing a bunch of repairs done and you'd be surprised at how many cars out there don't require any maintenance until a hundred thousand miles so keep that in mind when you're doing your research cars are so advanced these days that the hundred thousand miles stigma needs to end for most of the cars out there and also before you buy a car make sure to call up your car insurance and find out how much more it's gonna cost you for the new car that you're looking into you don't want to go buy a car and then after the fact realize that your car insurance costs way more because of the car that you just bought so just call up your insurance ahead of time so that you know how much more or less the car is gonna cost to insure so once you've done your research and you know exactly which cars you want to go look at and go check them out at a few dealerships you'll want to visually inspect the car for any dings scratches stuff like that and you'll want to take it for a good test drive as well and it's a good idea while your test driving to check what's called the engine run time because this is going to give you the best indicator of the type of miles that have been driven on the car so let's say that you're driving a truck with only 50,000 miles on it but it's got an engine run time of thirty three hundred hours all you're gonna do is take fifty thousand and divide that by thirty three hundred which is going to give you 15 which is how many miles per hour that car has averaged over the course of its life and in this case 15 would be a bad indicator that the truck has been to a lot of work sites or that it's done a lot of city driving but let's say that the average came back at like 30 or four miles per hour then that's a lot better to me knowing that the car has done a lot of highway and freeway miles instead of City most of the newer cars these days do log engine run time so just pay attention if you're looking at a newer car here's just a quick look at the log that's currently running in my car no matter what time of year it is make sure to check the AC and the heater just to make sure you don't have any surprises when you actually need to use them and make sure to check all the controls in the car and even turn up the radio to make sure that the speakers aren't blown because trust me this happened to me when I bought a used car and that sucked you'll also want to hop out of the car and make sure that all the lights are working because trust me this is the only chance that you're gonna be able to get the dealer to fix these types of problems now if it's winter time when you're looking at the car you're not gonna be able to tell if it's been smoked in because it's too cold outside but you can at least check the ashtray for any signs of use if it has one I bought my used car in January and I had no idea that the car had been smoked in until about four months later when I was deep cleaning the car and I found a cigarette butt in the middle of it now that just pissed me off because the salesman told me that the car hadn't been smoked in which it obviously had been now once you've found a few cars that you're legitimately interested in buying asked to look at the CARFAX or buy one yourself most dealers will already have the CARFAX available so hopefully you don't even have to buy it the CARFAX will give you a really good representation of the car's history but keep in mind that some stuff can still squeak through the cracks it'll tell you how many owners the cars had the status of the title and it'll even tell you how the car was registered to those owners so if you find out that the car's had like 10 owners then that's a huge red flag because the car's been around the block way too many times now I found out later with my used car that it was actually registered as a rental car which I'm not down with because we all know how we treat rental cars if I'd looked at the CARFAX like I should have then I would have realized that it was a rental car and I would have looked into something else I would stick with a car that had less than two owners that drove it as a personal vehicle and if it's a lease trade-in then this is a good thing too because it probably implies that the car has really low miles and it's been well-maintained and if the car has a branded title you're gonna want to do a little more research on it to find out what exactly happened at the car so that you know if it's worth the risk and buying it now once you're confident that you're buying the right used car asked to take it to your local McCann that you can have a few things looked at and if you're looking into a certified pre-owned car it's pretty justifiable that the tests have already been checked but it's always a good idea to get a third party's opinion because they're not invested in the sale this can cost up to a hundred bucks but trust me it's worth it especially if you're looking at a car with a lot of miles the first thing you'll want to have checked is your computer because you're gonna want to see if it has any trouble codes on it and then after that you're gonna want to check what's called the drive cycle monitoring just to make sure that the computer hadn't been reset to hide any problems now just check under the car for leaks and wear and tear and then also have them check under the hood for fluids and belts and stuff like that and once again now is the time to double-check everything just to make sure you don't have any surprises down the road and if the car's got any normal repairs that it needs like tires or brakes then definitely have the dealership pay for it because it's in their best interest to still get the sale because if the dealership has a shop they can fix all of this stuff for chief because it's at their cost and normal wear and tear is gonna have to be fixed regardless so just have them do it now while it's cheaper for you and at this point if you do find any huge red flags with the car then it was probably worth paying that hundred bucks to have it checked because nobody wants a problematic car now once you've found the right used car let's cover price because that's kind of a big deal and if you've made it this far could you please give the video a like because that will help me out a lot thanks used cars are a bit harder to know how much the dealer paid for them but as an average just figure in about ten percent but if you're looking at a really old car the numbers are gonna be all over the place so the only way to know if you're getting a good price for a used car is by checking the websites that I listed earlier the average price paid is a really good representation of what others have paid for the same car in that same region but just keep in mind that demand has a lot to do with the value of the car that you're looking at so if you live in snowy Utah like I do then you'd understand that two wheel drive SUVs don't sell very well the four-wheel drive models is what everyone is looking for up here so unless I go down to Vegas to buy a car I've got to understand that that demand is stuck in my local area but if you are willing to go outside your region to buy a used car then you're probably going to find the best deal but it is a bit of a hassle to have to drive 400 miles just a test drive a few cars now once you know the average price paid in your you're gonna want to make sure that you buy the car for less than that average understand that dealers have bills to pay too but trust me it's a lot better just to give them a quick 500 bucks rather than three thousand dollars if they were willing to sell the car regardless so at this point just tell the dealer that you want to pay five hundred dollars over what the low average price was paid for that car and be sure to mention any dents dings or anything that you want fixed at this point because they'll either fix the problems or they'll just charge you less for the car to have the problem solved now the key to negotiating is to be confident and polite because nobody wants to have to deal with an asshole and if you've got a timid personality then I would highly suggest faking your confidence because you're always gonna get screwed when you're trying to buy a car now if you do need a little more help when it comes to negotiating a car deal check out this video right here now once you've got the best price for the car it's time to cover financing which can really screw you if you're not paying attention the financing department has even more ways to make the dealer money so you have to be paying attention to everything that they're doing now as far as interest rates go dealers can actually get you really good rates just so long as they're not taking a cut most dealerships can get you really good rates from all the big lenders so just go ahead and use them because it's a lot more convenient now financing an interest and stuff like that can get really techie so if you need some help just watch these videos right here so once you've got your financing all settled the salesman is gonna offer you extended warranties and stupid carpet cleaning and stuff like that but you've got to understand that all of these services are negotiable so do not pay full price for any of them and if you are interested in any of these services just tell the salesman confidently that you want to pay invoice for them and trust me he'll probably sell it to you at cost because it's most likely still in his best interest to get the sale even if he doesn't get a commission they're still monthly and quarterly goals that are still gonna be worth it to him now as far as fees go just understand that these are sneaky ways that the dealer can make more money the only fees that are legitimate are taxes and license and registration that is it now taxes just plain suck but there's no way of getting out of them but if you have to pay sales tax on anything then that's how you can tell that it's a fee because you're never gonna have to pay tax on a tax so if you've got some stupid doc fee that's like 300 bucks plus tax then that's a fee and you can get out of it just tell the salesman confidently that you do not want to pay it now if the salesman tells you that the fee be removed because it has to be documented then just have them compensate with the price of the car or your trade-in so that you can get out of it just have them either lower the price of the car for 300 bucks or add three hundred dollars to your trade-in that way the fee is at least documented but now you can get out of it in a different area and trust me at this point the salesman is not gonna love you but you're too far into the game for them to lose the sale now once you've got everything signed and documented then you can truly drive away knowing that you just got the best deal on a used car possible now once again I'm Jason with the honest finance channel if you are interested in any of this type of content feel free to subscribe or at least give this video a like that's all

It Pays To Be A Good Retail Neighbour In Smalltown Cannabis
If you wish to re-publish this story please do so with following accreditation
AUTHOR: Rob Hendrix
PUBLISHER:  CANNABIS LAW REPORT
In one of my previous articles, I was rather preachy admittedly; I spoke about being a “good Cannabis neighbor”. I have been a good neighbor, a good tenant, a good citizen on the City, County, State and Federal level(s). I have made my lease payments on time, I have remitted my excise tax to the State of Washington on time or even early, I have never written a bad check to a vendor and I have never abused my relationship with any of our producer/processor friends.
And there are more, but if I get too deeply into those topics here, I’ll be too obviously foreshadowing as to what the next article will be referencing. Wink, wink!
This article will delve into what it means to be a bad neighbor, a bad influence in our still controversial industry, a bad steward of our still fragile Cannabis world in Washington State and to a great degree, the USA as a whole.
As I may have mentioned in an earlier article in CLR, that’s just a cute way of admitting I did in fact mention what I am about to say before, I was the first retail Cannabis shop to open in my hometown of Ellensburg located in Central Washington State. I had the City and the County all to my lonesome for a year.
The second shop opened almost to the day a year after I did. Now you may have already guessed, I have found fault with the way this shop has conducted business in my hometown.
I’ll do my level best to stick with facts and when sharing an opinion, I’ll warn you first.
This second shop opened in early September 2015. They are located in mid Ellensburg right on Main Street. Surrounded by small business all along Main Street, the first step they took in the way of “easing” into legal Cannabis in the heart of Ellensburg was to erect a sign. This sign was 6 feet x 10 feet, mounted on a round pole approximately with the sign itself about 5 feet off the ground. The pole was painted bright green about a foot in diameter. The box style letters of the sign, approximately 1 foot in size each, were of the same color green and formed the simple message: LEGAL WEED. This sign was and still is, in a word, obnoxious. The business neighbors were fit to be tied and it understandably caused quite the uproar. So much for being a “good neighbor”. (Oh gosh, I was supposed to warn you first if an opinion was in your future. It’ll probably happen again!) The sign was apparently not on their “premises” as defined by their lease/rental agreement so the size, color and contents of the sign were left up to the City of Ellensburg. After hearing many protests about the size, content and location of said sign, it was, begrudgingly, approved by the City. The owner’s opinion was simple; “It’s legal so y’all just are gonna have to relax!”. In addition, she had an older panel van painted with essentially the same message, though eventually the LCB told her that was against the rules regarding marketing/advertising.
As you may have guessed, I am not a fan of the “it’s legal so I’m going to poke you all in the eye” kind of mentality. I respect those who are uncomfortable with the legalization and therefore the normalization of Cannabis in our society. Frankly speaking, I was myself uncomfortable with Cannabis and Cannabis consumers prior to my becoming immersed in 502, my State’s Initiative which led to the legalization of Cannabis for adult use. I have learned so much but how many of our citizens have the time or the inclination to really learn about what it is they claim to be against. It’s easier just to sit back and hate it without knowing exactly why. And as strange as it may sound, I kinda understand that way of thinking. I suppose that’s the reason why I will not poke the bear, I will not condemn those who are not fans of our chosen field. I empathize and I will try to change opinions one interaction at the time. But again, I am giving away another topic for another day.
The business also has had two (2) major violations since opening; one was selling to a minor and the other was minor on premises, two separate violations. The biggest argument against 502 in our State has always been that the normalization of Cannabis in our communities will lead to greater use by minors. So how does this shop attempt to assuage those who harbor these concerns??? She sells to a minor not long at all after her Grand Opening!
The LCB conducts compliance checks, the law says they must conduct minor sales checks at least three (3) times per year per State legal retail Cannabis shop. But it’s not hard to pass; they never try to fool you with a fake ID, the ID always belongs to the minor in question. They will never attempt to fool an employee with fake beards, make-up, or otherwise. The minor, who in an interesting twist, is an actual employee of the LCB, will walk in, hold out their Washington State driver license in plain sight and since it’s a “vertical”, which means when it was issued, the individual was in fact under the age of 21, the employee(s) should be really at attention. No excuses in my book. They play it straight, no twists or turns. It’s always nerve wracking and I admit my BP rises just a bit when I see the vertical ID. Ok, I think to myself, this could be a test so stay calm, and don’t screw it up. Breathe, take another look, do the math, and kick the little bastard out! I know that sounds harsh, but anything or anyone that presents a threat to my livelihood is someone or something I’m going to deal with harshly. But they failed…twice. Makes us all look bad.
There are other aspects of this other shop’s business plan that I frankly do not agree with but they may very well fall under the above referenced “opinion clause” so I’ll back off for now. But suffice it to say that people like us who have freely chosen to get into Cannabis need to understand there are lots of citizens, good people many if not most of them, who have genuine concerns about this direction Washington State has chosen to go in. We are much, much better served in the big picture and in the long run treating all members of our respective communities with respect and understanding. We must be patient with those who object and we most definitely do not help ourselves when we metaphorically poke our neighbors in the eye and ridicule their feelings about our industry. In addition, I have never been able to predict with good reliability those of my acquaintances who were going to be combative or supportive. And I never argue, rather I indicate I understand how they feel and that I used to feel the same way, but after more than five years in the industry, have come to see things differently. I hope to change people’s with a great respect for their current opinions.
We in the State legal Cannabis industry must respect that this is not all a “done deal”. We have got to be doing it better, neater and cleaner than any other industry in the Country now and for the foreseeable future. Now, I will climb down off my preaching pedestal and say good day to you all. Thanks for listening. Go out and make it a great day!
Sincerely,

Theatre Highlights 2018
My Top 10 Theatre Highlights and Moments of 2018 (in no particular order other than roughly chronological. I combined things together to make it easier to read and talk about without doubling back on myself). Let's go!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
My first London theatre trip of the year saw me and my very good friend Hannah make our first visit to see Cursed Child. After a year and a half of trying to get tickets we finally won the Friday Forty and had PHENOMENAL seats - we couldn’t have asked for more with front row stalls, just off centre. It meant that I could see every detail of everyone's performances and the slightest of reactions which I may have missed sitting elsewhere. The show blew my tiny mind. I turned to Hannah in the interval of part one and said that this was going to be the best thing I saw this year and as the year draws to a close I can safely say past me was VERY much correct!! The things they achieve on stage are outstanding and just goes to show anything is possible with theatre, including magic!
In my six visits to see the show I’ve seen some of the brilliant covers in both the second and third year companies including Gideon Turner - First Cover Harry Potter Year Two, Tom Peters - First Cover Harry Potter Year Three, James McGregor - First Cover Bane Year Two and Three, April Hughes - First Cover Delphi (I have SO MUCH I want to say about April’s performance but #KeepTheSecrets and all that but everyone needs to see this girl as Delphi!) Ed White, Tom Mackey and Martin Johnson were the covers I had on in the principal company playing Draco Malfoy, Albus Potter and Amos Diggory/Dumbledore respectively on my first visit to the show and I was genuinely blown away by their performances. I have to talk about Ed and Tom’s performances as they were incredible and stole the show for me.  Firstly, Ed as Draco. Now like many other fans I grew up reading the books and watching the films and everyone was very much I love Draco, he’s great. He’s such a layered character. Now I didn’t get why everyone was so obsessed with him, like what am I not seeing? Then I saw Ed as Draco and was like Oh. Okay, NOW I get it. Ed brought such a warmth and a heart to the character I hadn’t actually noticed before and completely changed my opinion on how I view Draco. The bit which got me was whenever Draco was talking about Astoria and especially the scene in the ministry with Scorpius. It was beautifully acted and a stunning performance. It was a similar thing with Tom as Albus, going in to watch the play I had an idea of what Albus’ character would be like having read the script before hand, yet watching the story unfold Tom played it completely different to how I pictured it in my head. I laughed, I cried and I just wanted to give Albus a hug at the end of it. Those two really stick in my mind when I think back to my first visit and even a year later I’m still talking about it.
Lastly, as I’m aware this is only the first section and it’s already massively long, I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, shout out to all the Swings, especially on this show as they are all phenomenal and all the tracks are so intricate and they play multiple characters in a single ensemble track, it must be so challenging on cut shows making sure it all gets covered. Loving ya work Swing Team!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is running at the Palace Theatre so make sure to grab your tickets!!
Miss Saigon UK Tour
I was so thrilled to get to see this wonderful show again on tour three times after having seen it in London. It was just as moving and powerful as it was in London and hats off to everyone involved with getting the show on the road. You’ve done a grand job. It was lovely to see Zoë Doano on stage again, she delivered such a beautiful performance as Ellen and stole the show with Maybe. The whole company were exceptional, Sooha Kim as Kim and Ashley Gilmour as Chris were such a fabulous pairing. Last Night Of The World was so gorgeous and my favourite song in the show. Barnaby Hughes and Vinny Coyle were standouts in the ensemble and it was fabulous to see James McKeon at the helm conducting, doing a marvellous job. Love your work James!
Titanic UK Tour
Now for those long standing readers of this yearly blog post, some might remember back in summer 2016 I saw Titanic at the Charing Cross Theatre and just fell in love.
Well fast forward to 2018 where I got to see this fabulous show again three times on tour. It was just as moving, emotional and breath taking as I remembered. The first time I saw the tour was in Southampton I was physically shaking before the show had even started because I love it so much. It’s safe to say I was a pure wreck during that show. I had cried three times by the end of the first song and by the end of the show I’d cried so much there was no moisture in my eyes whatsoever. It was so great to see so many returning performers who I’d seen in the show in London. Dudley and Judith are sublime as the Strausses and of course it was so brilliant to see the heart and scene stealer that is Victoria Serra, who I have to say was born to sing Yeston’s music. Such a gorgeous vocal and performance. Ladies Maid will always be my favourite song in the show and Victoria leads it beautifully. I have a lot of love for that girl.
I have to mention Kieran Brown, who was wonderful as Murdock, and Chris McGuigan, a sublime Jim Farrell, who were standouts each time I saw the show.
There are pieces of theatre which just move you so much and deserves to be seen by everyone. Titanic is just this.
Madagascar The Musical UK Tour
I went to this see this with my friend, Sejuti, and we went to go see Shane McDaid in the show. We were probably also the only people there without kids but we LOVED IT!!! Such a fun show, great music and the penguins were hilarious. My favourite bit was when they were in the antarctic! Excellent comic timing. I’m far from the target audience for this show but I’d recommend it in a heartbeat. Great for adults and kids alike and I’m definitely going to be seeing it again when it comes closer to me.
Madagascar the Musical is on tour during 2019, check their website for tour dates.
Shitfaced Shakespeare
It’s not a secret how much I blooming love this company. As always it’s top notch Shakespeare, hilarious antics and you are guaranteed to have the best hour of your life when you go and see any production they do. This year they had Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet in London and Hamlet on the Fringes so got introduced to two new (well new to me) Shakespeare plays. Ophelia becoming Queen and turning Arass’ were a thing which happened in that time right?
Got some great compère and drunk combos and two shows I had been waiting to see for over a year so I was happy!!
Unsure how they will top this year but undoubtedly it’ll be genius whatever they do! The big thing for me in 2019 though is to see Saul Marron compère more than once per a season. Am I cursed to only see him once a year? 😢 I hope not! Will update you all on if I manage it next year!
Keep your eyes peeled on what shows they are doing at the Fringes and in London next year, make sure to grab your tickets when they go on sale in 2019, it’s gonna be a corker for sure!!
Edinburgh Fringe
I don’t know where to start here. I had simply the best time. I slept a lot as I was knackered but I saw some BRILLIANT shows and Edinburgh is such a gorgeous city as well, especially at Fringe where it’s so busy and got a lovely atmosphere about it. (Still gutted I never found where the pretty Edinburgh Gin Bar at Fringe was. I saw some lovely photos on Instagram!) Fringe staples were Shitfaced Shakespeare and Showtime obviously, did you even do Fringe properly if you DIDN’T see one of those shows?! Another show which I loved whilst up there was Voldemort and the Teenage Hogwarts Parody. Saw it twice and oh my word they were all so fantastic and it was hilarious. I also cried when Muffin died. BOTH TIMES. Legit it got to me. The Amazing Bubbleman - mind blowing, Out Of The Blue, Paddington’s First Concert, Gulliver Returns were some of the fantastic shows at Fringe I saw. I also bumped into my old headteacher on the first night I was at Fringe, at Shitfaced Shakespeare, so I ended up going to see the show he had brought up with a few of the A level drama students at my old school. I was really surprised at how well I followed it (we all know how confused I get at plays. It doesn’t always end well) and all of the girls delivered excellent, solid performances.
I’m already BUZZING to go back to Fringe next year and the magical waffle place of dreams is actual perfection, very much worth a visit!!
Shitfaced Showtime
Again like with their sister show, I have a lotta love for those musical booze loving beans. I was lucky enough to catch this show twice on Fringe and then once in London. It definitely is a theme with me that at Showtime I always see the drunk I see the show I’m at is compère the next time I go and it’s pure coincidence but I love that it’s worked out like that. I was THRILLED to get to see Nick, the Musical Director, as the drunk on the last night of Fringe, genuinely don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard before ever. It was a show I really wanted to see at some point and shout-out to Jessica and Beth for doing an ace job looking after him. I’ve said this before but I’m gonna say it again, everyone needs to see a Shitfaced Showtime production and every Musical needs to get the Shitfaced treatment as it’s pure brilliance how they put it all together!!
And lastly, someone cast Issy Wroe-Wright as Fantine as the pipes that girl has are out of this world and she’d slay it. #IssyForFantine
Phantom Cast Change
Cast Changes don’t get any easier and this year I had to say goodbye to the lovely Leo Miles who was a swing and then moved to ensemble and Second Cover Raoul (he was flawless as Raoul. Definitely one of my all time favourites.) I’d watched Leo in the show from when he joined back in 2013 so to see him leave was sad but I’ve loved watching him on stage those five years and seen his journey. He is one of the loveliest people on the planet and destined for great things and I’m so excited to see him in the Les Mis tour next year!
Twelfth Night - Young Vic Theatre
Now no theatre highlights of mine would be complete without mentioning Natalie Dew and the show she was in. As I mentioned earlier on that Cursed Child was the best thing I saw this year, it was equalled by Twelfth Night at the Young Vic. I did a review of it which is also on here if you want to check out my full thoughts.
However in brief, it was sheer brilliance. The music was INCREDIBLE and getting to hear Nat sing again was so fantastic (there may have tears) and also getting to see Rupert Young perform live was great. Rupert hands down has one of the best Male voice I’ve ever heard. The tone and quality of it was just gorgeous. I could talk about this show all day, uplifting, delivers such a good message at the end and so good for the soul.
‪42nd Street‬
‪42nd Street has featured before in my highlights but I want to talk about the brilliant covers I’ve seen in the show this year. Firstly all the principals in both companies are a joy to watch and so fantastic.‬
Hannah Faith-Marram - First Cover Peggy
I only saw Hannah as Peggy once but oh my word she blew my away. Her dancing was beautiful and crisp, lovely vocal and her smile lit up the whole stage. Her interpretation of Peggy was so sweet and everything she did felt so organic. Me and Rebecca, the friend I went with, felt very lucky to get to see Hannah and Philip together as Peggy and Billy. It felt like we were watching a piece of pure magic up there!
Phillip Bertoli - First Cover Billy and Pat
I’ve been very lucky to see Phillip as both of his covers. In year one I saw him twice as Pat and in year two I’ve seen him twice as Billy. He is exceptional in both roles and  also in his ensemble track, he suits the era so well. It’s like someone picked him out of the ‘20s and popped him in present day. Everything about his performance, you can’t help but watch him in the dance numbers. It’s a very classy performance
Ryan Glover - Second Cover Andy/Swing
Want to give a special mention to Ryan as not only was he performing as Andy during one show he also was on in the ensemble during one of the dances as they were on a cut show that performance and I thought he did an outstanding job!
Finally I just want to say that I’m so gutted this show is closing, the West End won’t be as bright without this wonderfully uplifting show. Thank you to both the original revival company and the second year companies for bringing me such joy over the past nearly two years. You’ve all been magnificent!! Make sure to catch all those hoofers on stage at Theatre Royal Drury Lane before the show closes ‪on January 6th‬ and don’t forget to go see it in the cinema when it’s released!!
Well, that wraps up a very stagey 2018. I’ve got some exciting stuff planned for 2019 so it’s looking to be a good one!!
Who knows what will make it in next year but I sure know it’s gonna be one fun stagey ride! So make sure you come back next year and find out what my highlights for 2019 are!
Until next time, cheerio!

Lineup Lamentations - GW7
Our Transfers, Captains, and Starting 11s for the week!
WALSH
TRANSFERS:
OUT: McGinn
IN: Mount
Okay fam, I fucked up this week.
Hands in the air this one is on me but I fucked myself by not moving on Wednesday before price changes where both Tammy and Mount went up so I am 0.1 away now from doing the double swap.
Was waiting for all the cup games to end and then was planning on getting Tammy in before his rise...totally forgot... Mount rose as well and so fuck me. Vacation mode throwing me properly off over here so what can I do? I am but a flawed human and I will live with the consequences of my dumbassedry.
Ultimately I am feeling that removing McGinn is better than removing Haller especially with this news that Lanzini has been training and is back. I just don't think Villa look very good in general and will continue to seriously struggle for goals even though McGinn has good underlying numbers and shit I think he's just a bit meh.
Haller has been bad but looks incredible irl eye test and so who knows the fixture is pretty good from an attacking sense maybe I get really lucky here but I will not tell you all any lies... it feels fucking bad to not have Tamela in this moment. I did contemplate a hit to get Tam in but ultimately felt like it had more of a chance to blow up in my face than work out gangbusters so I'm going to just do the one move...float...and check out what is what next gameweek with two frees after UCL and shit. Seems okay...
Who am I kidding? complete nightmare disaster I'm dumb and I hate myself.
GK:
Pope (avl)
Pope remains from GW1 after popping back into the good graces with a clean last week. Still great fixtures and he's great so an easy hold set and forget type of lad. Good boy Pope.
DEF:
Three at the back for me this gameweek in an unusual turn of events for my squadron.
Alexander-Arnold & Robertson (shu)
Trent and R0bbo go to Sheffield United in what should be a clean banker. If Sheffu can only muster two shots against Everton then not expecting fireworks here against Livp. Granted they are home...but still..come on. Get it done here boys...time for another clean.
Otamendi (eve)
Third guy is NicoOta who somehow just threw up a ridiculous haul last game. Maybe the answer is just Dinho in and they'll keep cleaning like we thought they would. Who knows. I don't and I still think (read: know) Ota is a nightmare but at the moment the price is right and the nail is on.
At Everton suddenly seems like a dreamland fixture as they drag their feet until their manager gets the sack lunch. Get in.
MID:
Salah (shu) & Sterling & De Bruyne (eve)
Still on the three big boppers Mo, Raz, and Kevin.
All three great guys, I’m happy to see people selling Raz hope he drops 1m in price he is going nowhere from my team little razzy baby will come back with a vengeance to punish the non believing heathens.
Mo looked really bad and off it last game so hopefully his touch is back and he can do something this weekend.
Mount (BHA)
New boy Mount goes for me and it feels nice to be part of the mounted cavalry division. Nice little fixture run and still a good price. I really want to get in Maddo soon but Mount seems basically the same thing with a bit lower price no knock and better fixtures at least for right now.
Not sure why I'm talking about Maddo here but I am so that's cool.
Cantwell (cry)
Finally, Todd goes to Selhurst in what should be a who knows what the fuck it will be kind of a game. I could see anything from 0-0 snoozefest worst thing of life to a 4-2 barn burner. Either way, I believe in Todd and I love Todd so I'm going to throw him out in the XI for the near term and see how he rolls.
FWD:
Pukki (cry)
Pukki still in of course..good guy still is good.
Haller (bou)
Haller still in as well...yikes. Pretty massively and utterly terrified of not owning Tammy even more so typing this out now so just gotta hope I get away with it. Eek.
CAP:
Sterling (eve)
Raz gets the armband again.
Was chatting about it in Slack just before typing up lambs and the honest truth of the matter is if I twist off Raz cap after all these weeks of mental anguish to see him spike this game at Goodison I would just be completely beside myself with grief.
I don't want that, so I'm going to just stay with the boy and hope he wakes up on the right side of the bed tomorrow and destroys Everton.
ALON
TRANSFERS:
OUT: Diop
IN: Tomori
I wavered back and forth on this one because Diop and West Ham have kept three cleans in a row and have really good home bankers coming up and all that good shit.... BUTTTTTTTT... they’re still bad at defending. They really are. The cleans have been nice but felt pretty lucky. They had Manchester United which is arguably best cleansheet fixture in the league and I got my points and so now I’m bailing.
Tomori has almost identical home fixtures to Diop coming up and I’m taking a swing that with Kante back (and Rudiger soon) they are a better team and better defense then West Ham... So in the equal home fixtures I prefer Tomori and then in the aways I feel like West Ham have relatively no chance at a clean (for example this week away to Bournemouth I see them conceding two or three) whereas Tomori and Chelsea away Southampton and away Burnley and away Watford coming up I’m like yeah I could see it, maybe clean one of those if I’m lucky clean two of those? That seems not farfetched to me.
It’s fucking weird buying a defender for a team with no cleans but comparatively to West Ham I think I’m getting in a step ahead here and hopefully it pays me back :)... Come on you Fikayo.
GK:
Gunn (tot)
Spurs are kind of shit but also this is like a 1% chance of a clean for Gunn.
My biggest mistake on Wildcard was not finding the 0.1 somewhere (SEE: MARTIN KELLY) and going Pope over Gunn but honestly I’m just gonna stick by Angus “Gunn to my head” Gunn through these difficult fixtures and just hope he racks up some saves and bones and the odd clean here and there and then their fixtures turn in GW12 and maybe it’ll all be fine.
Maybe.
DEF:
Tomori (BHA)
Good cleanable fixture. Not AMAZING but a solidly good clean shout at home. Come on lad.
Lowton (avl)
Another solid clean shout here.
Away is obviously tougher but Aston Villa struggle to create big chances and with how deep Burnley set up it will be tough to get behind them and counter them... I feel like a defensive howler from Mee or Tarko will be Villa’s best chance of the game. Hopefully it comes clean for me.
Söyüncü (NEW)
The fucking kid. I love Soy so much.
This should be a very straight forward clean. Hopefully Soy doesn’t do something absolutely insane and concede a penno for no reason and it’s just an easy job with bones and shit. Come on SoyyyyyBoyyyyyLadddddd.
MID:
Salah (shu), Sterling & De Bruyne (eve)
Lottttt of aways this week for me which does not feel terrific at all.
Salah is easiest hold ever despite a bit of a slow start underlying numbers.
Raz had his 0 minutes played early doors and should be back in there firing on all cylinders and Kevin requires no words. If ya didn’t jump immediately on Kevin after GW1 or GW2 then we haven’t been watching the same shit and you clearly don’t listen to a word that Walsh and I say so fuck you anyways.
Cantwell (cry)
The aways just keep coming and I don’t like it...
Palace are tough to break down but they’re also WAY worse at home and love nothing more but conceding possession... This will be a really really interesting game to see how Norwich do when they have ~65% of the ball and have to break down the Woy bus factory.
I expect good things but I’m a little nervous.
FWD:
Agüero (eve)
Kun is real good.
Pukki (cry)
Check what I said above about Todd and apply the same down here to Teemu.
Abraham (BHA)
Tammy is putting up gigantic elite numbers and I see no reason why that won’t continue. Outside of Man City Tammy has the best non-penalty expected goals per 90 in the entire league. Ya love to see it.
The one caveat that I have is that Brighton are pretty good.
BHA have middle of the pack defensive numbers despite facing Man City already this season and they just seem solidly like a mid-table maybe top 10 team.
Potter is great and has completely transformed how they set up and play and they’re just good. People thinking that this will be a Chelsea easy walk in the park 4-0 ass fucking I think are very misguided and relying too much on the color of the fixture on the FPL site and not using data, team stats, brains, etc...
CAP:
Agüero (eve)
This did not take me long to sort out. Kun is on fire, City are the best attacking team in the world as usual, and Everton aren’t great. Hopefully Kun hauls in a loss then I’m in dreamland ;)...
It’s a bummer that it’s away but he’s still Kun and can score a hat trick vs. any non-Liverpool opponent away from home. You might call me not a home/away splits believer.
Come on Kun do it baby boy, Everton are ripe for a destruction... And if City score early the fucking pitchforks will be out at Goodison and Silva and the Everton players should crumble under the immense negativity and booing and horribleness.
NOT RANDOM SLACKER: DEREK
Fresh off of IRL pod we assigned Lambs this week to the one and only Derek.
TRANSFERS:
OUT: Coleman
IN: Otamendi
Mentioned on the pod, easy transfer: defender on terrible looking Everton team for an attacking City defender with a great fixture run for the same price.
Seamus got me a couple cleans early and had some great chances for a dong but at this moment cannot be more thrilled to take him out of my team.
This was my plan since before last GW.. sucks I missed Ota's absurd game vs. Twatford but regardless, I'm very happy with this pick.
GK:
Pope (avl)
New friend to the team last week brought me a clean sheet. Hoping for the same this week with Villa away.
Burnley has a nice run coming so expecting some cleans from him.
DEF:
Otamendi (eve)
New transfer in.
I don't love him as a defender and we all know he's struggled at times this year but with Dinho seemingly slotted to the LCB position I’m hoping City can stay relatively tight and keep some cleans on this run.
And with Kevin's super precise set piece deliveries so far this year (and all the time when he is healthy and right), I'm expecting Ota to continue to find his head on some of these balls for some more dongs.
Robertson and van Dijk (shu)
Two lads who have been on my team since GW1.
At this point, cleans haven't been plentiful like how I imagined but a goal and two assists from them is still solid and I expect Liverpool to improve on the defensive front. Sheffield should be staying pretty tight in the back at home so this fixture feels very cleanable.
MID:
Sterling and De Bruyne (eve)
Just two guys on the most potent, explosive attacking team in the league. It's time tor Raz to get some returns for the first time since GW3. Yikes.
Salah (shu)
Mo will be Mo and continue to do Mo things AKA return return return. Even having a shitty ass game like last week, he still got me an assist.
Mount (BHA)
I've had the Fat Frank loving youngster since GW3 and he's price risen 6 times since then which is wild but still think he's a great value pick for those who do not have him.
On the year he has 3 goals in 6, constantly finds himself in the box with good chances, and with this great fixture run coming up, I expect him to continue to tick.
FWD:
Pukki (cry)
Palace away doesn't feel great, but Pukki has proven he can score in any fixture so hoping he delivers me one here.
Abraham (BHA)
Coming off a late push at Stamford Bridge last week versus the league leaders, Chelsea should continue with their offensive prowess vs Brighton back at home.  Although I don't expect Tammy's absurd finishing efficiency to continue at this rate, his physicality and quickness in the box is here to stay which will continue to yield him good opportunities and big chances.
Plus with up-and-down-the-wing god Marcos A. slotted in at left back with Emerson out, Tammy should be getting some great service in the air.  Love having two offensive players from the same team cause the dreams and realization of an assist-dong combo is just the best actual feeling in all of FPL.
Greenwood (ARS)
Taking a chance here going with my other Mason: the 17 year old United striker..feels especially risky with him playing 90' midweek in the cup match.
He has yet to start in a league game this year, but has started in both games outside of the league and has a goal in each of them. With Rashford's groin injury and Martial seemingly dead for eternity (I won't believe he's healthy til I see him on the team sheet), OGS has limited options up top so realllly hoping he gives the kid a chance this week at Old Trafford for his first league start.
From the little I've seen from Greenwood, seems like he is not shy to shoot and with Paul hopefully back maybe the team can progress the ball better and develop some offensive threat again..we shall see.
CAP:
Sterling (eve)
I'm going with Raz for the fifth GW in a row.
We all know what he's capable of..sitting the whole 90' on the bench or scoring a hatty. Hoping for the latter in the away fixture at Goodison cause I think City are gonna have their way with the Toffees. I'd be lying if I said I'm not scared captaining Raz considering he played 70+ minutes midweek in the cup and UCL coming up next week but fuck it.
Weird to see him drop in price two times in a week and seeing some captain polls, kinda feels like a slight differential captain.  Vice will be on Mo.

Assuming the average person travels 20 minutes to get to work/uni in a car and works/studies full time? I currently own a car and that's what I do. ""Can you explain car insurance system in the UK, how it works?""
It is illegal to drive without a valid car insurance. I am unable to get a single quote for car insurance, what am I doing wrong or where is the catch? I am a new driver, have a provisional driving licence for a month. The car I want to buy is a large Mercedes S class (5-litre engine) that cost ca. 15K (I have my reasons). Why they would not insure me if I only want the THIRD PARTY LIABILITY cover (the minimum required by law)? The insurance company does not risk paying for my luxury car as third party cover does not cover the car, is that correct? My circumstances that I put in online forms: I am 26, UK resident for 3 years. The car would be bought and registered (and probably insured) under my mum's name, she is an EU national, has EEC (non-UK) driving licence for 20 years and is resident in the UK for 3 months only. I would need to add myself as a second driver... No company would give me an insurance quotation, do you know why? When I change driving licence in forms from provisional to full UK the result is the same (also no quotes at all). But when I change the car to e.g. a small Focus or similar, no problem, cheap insurance available and dozens of quotations are appearing. Are new drivers not allowed to drive luxury cars? HELP!""

New Brunswick Motorcycle Insurance is based on...?
I will be moving to NB this summer (from BC), and was wondering how the insurance rates out there are determined. Here in BC there are a number of insurance brackets (based on displacement) which determine the base rate. All bikes in any one bracket pay the same, so a 600cc sportbike is cheaper than a 883 Sportster (these are only for liability, theft and collision are based more on $$ value). In general, is it the same in NB? Would I save money by going to a smaller bike (I currently ride a 1127cc Suzuki GSX1100G), assuming the actual $$ value of the bike was about the same? Does the type of bike matter? I'd ask an insurance agent, but they are usually pretty reticent to explain how their rates are determined. Hope you can help.""

Is the issue access to good health insurance or is it access to good healthcare?
Ok first order of business I know how the whole health care issue is being made into this big complicated monstrosity. I would llike to get people's input on this and maybe some insight into better understanding a way ahead. First let me say that my question is not based on politics I'm not representing democrats or republicans as a matter of fact politics and money is what is frustrating me with this entire health care issue. I hear about all of this debating and I want to ask what is the real issue that everyone cares about correct me if I am wrong but I think it is access to dependable and reputable healthcare. The next issue I have, Is it wise to put health care interests in the hands of for profit enterprise. Now this is not an attack on health insurance companies but it is a question to the average person. I have read countless stories of people who thought they had good insurance for years all of the sudden they get sick the insurance pays the lowest possible cost and then cancels their coverage. Or here is another example, former health insurance employees tell of how draconian the companies are that they have worked for when it comes paying for coverage they would rather cancel people's policy. I am forced to wonder how long will it be before doctor's and nurses will be required to have an M.B.A. as a prerequisite for practicing medicine. I am all for free enterprise but something just does not sound right when you have an entire industry based on the soaring cost of healthcare and people's inability to pay for it. Seems that you are at the mercy of your insurance company at the time that you need them most. It seems that access to healthcare has been debated and put on the back burner for over 50 years combined with the fact that the people making the decisions regarding healthcare access rarely have to concern themselves with access to healthcare for themselves or their families, I'm just wondering how much longer is this cycle going to continue before something tangible gets done. I'm not saying healthcare should be totally free. I'm not saying that healthcare costs should destroy the middle class either. I definitely think that a for profit company priorities are to make a profit and answer to stockholders where does the patient come in on this equation. Does anybody out there have any viable solution or are we doomed to keep repeating the same mistake over and over again where the bottomline seems to be when all is said and done when it comes to healthcare access you have to fend for yourself.""

Urgent question about medical insurance for college students!!!???
I'm a student at a major university in the state of Washington (not that it matters for the question I guess). I'm still on my dad's insurance but it's going to expire on my birthday this year. If it is verified that I'm a student at a college (I don't think it matters whether it's a university, community college, trade school, whatever), then the insurance can continue. I stupidly dropped a class close to the beginning of this term, and this unknowingly dropped me *just*, just barely to the status of 'half-time'. I really didn't realize this would happen and has caused me all sorts of grief with the financial aid gods (lol)...I already will have to be writing appeal letters explaining my mistake. Well, I digress, but my question is: For this insurance matter, do I just need to be a student or do I need to be a full-time student . If it's the latter, pardon my French, but I'm pretty much, f**ked, aren't I? Anyone know the answer?""

When should I apply for car insurance?
I've been a named driver on my boyfriends policy with the car being in his name for the past couple of years. Now he has a company car and I need the previous car to be insured in business class for my work, we've sent away the forms to the DVLA so I will be the registered owner. But I'm wondering, whether now it means our previous insurance covers the car which i'm still driving daily or not, so should I apply for my own insurance now for when the documents come back or wait until after I recieve the documents!? How do I get affordable higher coverage health insurance?
I live in New York. I'm 22. I was on my college insurance plan, but I lost it when I went on medical leave. I had an extension plan, but that also expired. I have no job because I'm too sick to work. If I would go back to college before I got a job. Right now, I'm on a strictly emergency health care policy with no preventive care that runs me about $188 a month. I need more coverage though. The problem is that I'm not eligible for most plans because I don't work. For the coverage I need, it will cost over $1,500 a month. I can't afford that, I don't have income. What do I do? *Before my college plan expired, I was going to doctors. I am diagnosed with POTS, and I was having sleep studies where I was being treated for day time sleepiness. Never got an official diagnosis, but I probably have Idiopathic Hypersomina. Both of these require occasional tests and I will need to see doctors regularly until I have a treatment plan. I'm also a cancer survivor and need to go back in to get a battery of tests every year or so. Out of pocket, just a an office visit cost around several hundred dollars. (I have no lapse in coverage.)""
