Someday Snippet

I was tagged by both @beautitudes and @heartofspells, but I was out of town this weekend, so this is my first chance to get to it. Thanks SO MUCH to both of you for tagging me.

This is from a Wolfstar Raisies Harry after POA fic that I've written a lot of and put away for a long time, and I'm considering resurecting to finish now.

“Haz, what are you doing?” Sirius asked. 

Harry didn’t even look over his shoulder. Instead, his head was under the sink, digging for something. “The dishes. Where’s the soap?”

“I don’t have any, and you don’t need to do the dishes.” 

Harry turned around, brow furrowed. “You don’t have soap? How do you get the dishes clean?”

Remus raised his wand and pointed it at the sink. Immediately it filled with sudsy water, and the dishes began scrubbing themselves. “Did you forget we were wizards, Harry?”

Harry looked dumbly at the sink before moving back to the table. “I guess I didn’t think of it. I’ve always done them by hand.” 

“Your mum did that too, I remember.” Sirius said. “Said she never liked the way the charm got them clean.” 

“Do you remember when James cleaned them with the charm without telling her, and she made him pull them all back out of the cabinets to redo it?” Remus laughed. 

“She was so mad.” Sirius leaned back laughing. “He knew she didn’t like it, but didn’t think she could actually tell the difference.”

“She got mad at him for how he cleaned the dishes?” Harry looked confused. 

“Not like mad, mad.” Remus said. “She helped him redo them, and in the end, I think they ended up–” Remus cut off short, eyes going wide as he looked at Sirius.

Harry looked between them. “Ended up what?” 

Sirius smirked. “Dancing. In the kitchen together.” 

Harry smiled, leaning on his hand. “That’s sweet.”

there seems to be two conflicting trains of thought around greta of 1) she’s incredibly damaged by being a secret affair only to be left by everyone in the end or 2) she knew what she was getting into with married women and it was an arrangement that worked well for her and y’all do know that both are correct right

yeah it’s an arrangement that works for her. yeah she’s probably had good times. yeah she’s been able to get laid and have fun and enjoy her time with them. but equally the psychology behind it - becoming something to be hidden, something damaging to a reputation, something shameful and temporary - is going to have deep-stained consequences, consequences that greta herself probably doesn’t even know the half of.

her entire adult life has been a rolling series of being the ‘damaging secret’ and that is incredibly hard to deal with, even if in the moment she’s having a genuinely good time. there’s a reason carson openly wanting to be with her and show her off at the bar is such a big deal for her. but by the same token that trauma doesn’t cancel out that yeah, she’s been able to live her life in a way that means she still gets to indulge in her sexuality, and she’s also done that by choice

any suggestions for becoming a sims based blog? I used to do it back in the hayday of sims 3 but it's been YEARS and I still absolutely love making sims, but I'm too shy and nervous to interact with the community ;;;

hi nonny! this is a complicated question that I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask lol but let me try it out. I think I'm gonna separate it into two parts for ease of reading. And sorry if it's a bit more cynical than you probably expected. I've just learned a lot i wish I had done from the start, lol. So here we go.

Sims content

Post whatever tf you feel like. If you love making sims, post the hell outta them and don't worry about what anyone thinks. There's no one perfect type of content to appeal to everyone; the community is made up of a million smaller niche ones. Editors, sim makers, gameplayers, storytellers, cc makers, etc. If you're passionate about it, you'll find people that love your posts. So don't worry too much.

Don't get too hung up on editing, if you want your pics to look "better" then use gshade/reshade and/or simple psd actions to your liking. Don't let it get stressful cos it ain't worth it. If you don't enjoy editing, don't do it at all. (I wrote more about how I edit & make it easier in this post)

Try your very best not to worry about notes. I know it's hard. Everyone wants their stuff to be seen, but when it comes to engagement on here, you're aiming for quality over quantity. A few awesome mutuals commenting on your stuff is way better than 600 silent likes. Also, having more attention sucks bc it brings the vile swamp rats out of their holes to see what shit they can stir up. The brief serotonins aint worth it. Just aim to find a few cool ppl to talk about your sims with cos thats all that matters.

If you want, find bachelor/ette or similar challenges ppl are doing and submit sims for them. And once you get some mutuals/followers, open sim requests so you can make sims for people. It's super fun and awesome to see your sims in other people's games! And you don't have to talk too much if you don't feel like it, but it's an easy way to get involved with others.

Social stuff & safety

Comment on peoples posts often if you like them. Engage with ppl. Reblog posts you see you like but don't really have any reblogs. I know you said you're shy but, this is most of the way to actual have mutuals that enjoy talking to you and comment on your stuff as well. You can just not talk if you want but it'll make it harder to have any engagement unless you're really good at edits or cc making.

Don't get involved with drama/discourse, it means nothing and amounts to nothing. If you're going to boost someone else's post, look into it first and look for evidence that it's even true before you reblog. If people hate on you in your inbox, block the anon and don't respond even to laugh at them. Block anyone that gives you bad vibes. They look at you funny, breathe wrong, use a color you don't like. Block. If anyone tries to start shit with you, block & completely ignore them & don't comment on it. It hurts, but there's nothing you can do about it, and people will move on if you ignore them.

Don't reveal any personal info about yourself on here or to anyone in DMs. Don't use your real name. Don't have anything connected to your other socials. Don't trust anyone on here with your vulnerable emotions, past trauma, etc. And don't say anything in DM you wouldn't feel comfortable with everyone else on the internet potentially seeing.

If you pledge to people on patreon, be aware that your email will show up on their end when you do. Dont use your real name as your patreon username.

If simblr is causing you stress, you feel like your mental health is suffering, take breaks. Log off or delete the app for a while.

NPD: No, they didn't. Just that it's a fertilizer truck, headed southbound into your jurisdiction with the back end on fire. ME: All right. We'll get some folks out there and see if we can get them stopped. NPD: Thanks. Have a good night! *call disconnected* ME: My favorite idiots get to chase down actual flaming poops. Okay.

“Hazza, can we talk to you for a moment?”

Harry looked up from where he was flipping through a quidditch magazine next to his bowl of cereal. “Sure?” There was an uncertain lilt to his voice, and it almost made Sirius smile.

“There’s something important we wanted to discuss with you.”

Harry’s eyes went wide. “I already know about, um, sex, so you really don’t have to worry about that. I don’t need to like, talk about it or anything.”

Sirius furrowed his brows, barely catching the bubble of hysterical laughter that caught in his throat. “That wasn’t what I wanted to talk about, Harry, but who talked to you about sex?”

Harry pressed his lips together, almost certainly regretting what he said and the fact that it seemed to push Sirius into wanting to discuss it now. “I–uh, well Fred and George had–”

“Alright, nope.” Sirius shook his head, not missing the way that Remus covered his mouth with his hand to hide his laughter. “I can already tell you that whatever they said is not accurate and should be immediately disregarded.”

Harry relaxed, slightly, and looked at Sirius shyly. “So, girls don’t have, um–” Harry looked around, glancing at Remus who had managed to school his features just in time “–teeth down there?”

Sirius just looked at Harry, certain that he misheard the question, because there’s no way that Harry actually thought there were teeth between a girl’s legs. “Teeth?”

“Yeah, Fred said that girls have lips down there, and between the lips are teeth that can bite you if they get angry.”

Remus started laughing again, and he made no attempt this time to hide it. Sirius bit back a smile as best he could, but it was a bit of a lost cause. “No, Harry. There are no teeth down there.”

Harry was smiling now too. “I’m guessing there’s no tongue either.”
