Could there be some subtle foreshadowing in our favourite slime anime that isn’t getting enough credit?
Tumblr media
So I recently decided to do a rewatch of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, and I noticed a couple instances of foreshadowing that I completely missed previously, even though it’s like my tenth time watching it. The first of these is a spoiler for anime only fans who haven’t read the light novel, and the second spoils a big reveal from season two, so be warned.
The first of these has to do with the vision of Rimuru’s “fated one” by the fortune teller at the Night Butterfly bar in Dwargon. This character and her prediction did not appear in the Web Novel, nor the Light Novel, and appeared for the first time in the Manga, where it looked like this:
Tumblr media
But the real genius came when it was adapted for the anime.
Tumblr media
Notice that in this version, we start with a wide shot of the kids with Shizue, who we’re led to believe is the Fated One in question, which would makes sense given that the vision ends with a close up of her face, and the events of the very next arc. But take a closer look at it’s beginning. Notice who’s at the Center of the wide shot? Chloe! And it’s Chloe’s face that we first see clearly as it cuts to her as she hugs Shizue. The vision then pans over the faces of the other kids: Alice, Gale, Ryota, and Kenya. Only then do we get a good look at Shizue’s face which is where the vision ends.
Tumblr media
Given Chloe’s fate to become the strongest hero, and Rimuru’s becoming a Demon Lord, both of which are functionally immortal, and tend to lead to intertwining destinies, this might have been a subtle indication that Rimuru’s true “fated one” is not Shizue, but Chloe Aubert.
The second case I noticed has to do with the dynamic with “Kaval’s” Party. Although Kaval is presented as the leader, Eren seems to be the one most often acting in the role, making decisions for the party with Kaval following them while reminding her that he’s the leader.
Tumblr media
In fact “I’m the leader, remember?” or “I’m supposed to be the leader!” become something of a catchphrase for Kaval, usually spoken to Eren.
Tumblr media
On a casual viewing, this could just be a sign of how casual the party’s dynamic is, showing that they’re friends first and a party second. But given what we learn about them later, it means something entirely different. The reason Eren acts like the leader sometimes is because…she is. Kaval is only the leader on paper.
Tumblr media
Eren, or Elyun Grimwald, is a member of the royal family of the Sorcerer's Dynasty Sarion, a higher station then Kaval or Gido, who are actually her body guards. Kaval is acting as the leader of the party publicly to better hide her identity. When he reminds her that he’s the leader, he’s not lamenting the disrespect, as we’re meant to assume at this stage. He’s reminding her of the roles that they’re supposed to be playing.
Tumblr media
This is also seen in how protective the pair are of Eren.
Tumblr media
Twice during the battle against Ifrit they moved to shield Eren form potential harm, prioritising her safety over their own. This could be read as the sturdier members of a party covering for the physically weaker mage, or as two loyal soldiers guarding their princess from harm.
Tumblr media
Anyone spot any more foreshadowing?

Hai hai hai and BOOKS I LOVE BOOKS if there's any books you like that you'd recommend reading we'd love to know about it :D
-hai anon
Oh I haven't read a good book in a hot minute!
Although I did buy a very wonderful but very short little visual novel. (It was called Demon in the wood, by Leigh Bardugo & Dani Pendergast)
I probably don't have many good Adult recommendations tbh, since the last time I hungered for good books was awhile ago.
Honestly my two stand alone favs are:
The eyes of the Dragon By Stephen King
It is set in a kinda medieval time, and involves poison, an evil right hand to the king, and escaping a tower by using a sowing machine inside a tiiiiny doll house that had working furniture!
Mister B. Gone By Clive Barker
A super interesting tale told from a demon in hell who tells you repeatedly in a wild breaking 4th wall to burn this book.
I also love Clive Barkers other Series: Abarat
This follows a young girl who very Alice in wonderland style is taken to a whimsical wild world. Sadly I never got to finish it as I believe he still has yet to even finish the series (smh). But the few books were certainly an interesting read!
Bonus: A childhood fav that I always think about!
The Key to Rondo By Emily Rodda
A young boy recieves a music box as a family heirloom. His cousin and him end up sucked into the music box and whisked into the wonderful world that is actually the very same that decorates the outside of the box. I adored this concept as a teen, it had such interesting world building, like these black spots that you could hide inside of ? but they were sentient and talked??
Thank you for all the fun questions Hai!! <3

Capturing.

The New York Philharmonic over the years has changed and it keeps experimenting and changing. In the late 90's and well into the 2000's, I was a season ticket holder. The Phil at that time was experimenting with traditional pieces in the first act with new, more contemporary pieces for the second act. As a more traditionalist it led to me giving some Julliard student waiting outside hoping to get in to see the performance receiving two really good tickets!
As the years went on, the Philharmonic would sometimes put forth modern works in the second act; sometimes not. Don't get me wrong, you need to develop new works to keep the younger generations interested in something that is a real quality entertainment. What was The Avery Fisher Hall and now the Geffen is one of the very best venues in New York, and this is in a city that has more great venues for music and entertainment that you can mention.
In last nights performance we saw Mozart twice in the first act. Mozart was performed in a short piece: Scene and Rondo. K.505. Sung by Golda Schultz in Operatic, with Francesco Piemontesi making his NY Philharmonic debut on piano with Gianandrea Noseda as the conductor.
The second piece was Mozart's Piano Concerto No.25 in C Major, K503. In Allegro maestoso Andante, this piece was clearly the best of the evening. This in-depth, complex piece was done brilliantly and it showed off the prowess of Piemontesi and the prowess of Noseda as he conducted this masterpiece with a smaller, yet in sync orchestra.
Mozart, who is my favorite classical writer, is a deep, full master of music and story. Here we get one of his more brilliant pieces that takes the listener round and round. The audience was fully engaged in this rendition as it was done brilliantly.
In the end of the second piece, the audience was not informed of an encore and it had many people heading for the exits not knowing that there was more music to come. Even though the encore was short, it should have been in the program for the audience as a point of reference.
The New York classical music scene is a sophisticated one; whether it is at Geffen, Alice Tully Hall, or just across the street at the Julliard. When a performance is good you hear it in the ends applause; when it is great, the hall shakes with thunderous ovations. From the first acts applause there was no doubt that this was a audience favorite.
The second act was Mahler's Symphony No.4. In this performance it featured Golda Schultz coming back out after the third stop. She spend a great deal of time sitting front and center before singing a limited time at the shows close.
In this Mahler piece, it was bland and uninspiring. It was no surprise that about 7% of the audience had left at intermission. It seemed that the real knowledgeable concert goers knew more than the rest of us. As one audience member said after this performance "this was one of the more disappointing performances that I have seen".
This piece had high hopes, the orchestra expanded by 50% from the first two Concertos. The set-up was intriguing... how will this be conducted? Will it be brazen? Bold? Will it rattle our senses? No. No and No. It left us wondering why its orchestrations were so poor. It was confounding why it was designed this way. It was a great big thud to a brilliant first act.

I Need that. Theater Review.
"I Need That" at American Airlines Theatre involves the life of Sam (Danny DeVito), his best friend, Foster (Ray Anthony Thomas) and his daughter, Amelia (Lucy DeVito). Sam is a hoarder and a hermit; he hasn't cut his lawn for eight months and the inside of his house looks as bad as the outside. Theresa Rebeck who wrote this play brings into question about how a man chooses to live his life. Sam has no TV, no phone and he seems happy living his life; nothing seems to outwardly bother him. He misses his dead wife Ginny, she too hated to throw anything away.

(this is a novel idea I have, and this is the beginning that came to me and I would love to know if this gets your interest. Of course, any other critique is also welcome. Do you like the first person, or would you prefer the third person? I am thinking of adding names, and a little more history but I want to see if this is even a start that is interesting.)

Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Dixie D'Amelio visit a California prison.
Tumblr media
Kim Kardashian, an aspiring lawyer, paid a visit to a California state prison on Monday to learn about convicts' experiences behind bars. She traveled to Lancaster, California, with her sister Khloé Kardashian, musician Lil Baby, TikTok phenomenon Dixie D'Amelio, Fanatics billionaire Michael Rubin, and members of the Reform Alliance's newly formed Future Shapers Advisory Council for Generation Z activists. Rubin founded the Reform Alliance, a criminal justice reform organization, with Jay-Z, Meek Mill, Robert Kraft, and others. According to the organization's statement, Kim and his colleagues "met with incarcerated men in the facility to learn about their stories, hear about the challenges that led them into the criminal justice system, and identify ways in which the system can better support safety and rehabilitation." They also "toured rehabilitative programming at the facility."

For the event, the 42-year-old Skims entrepreneur dressed down in a militaristic-looking black turtleneck sweater and black cargo pants. "It's always an honor to be able to visit the men and women living behind our prison walls," Kim said in a statement announcing the visit. Hearing the experiences of people incarcerated fuels my desire to campaign for reform and discover ways to use my platform to help alter lives and laws." "Today, I was especially excited to bring Reform's Future Shapers Advisory Council inside the prison," she continued. We are preparing the next generation of leaders and influencers to fight alongside us."
Tumblr media
Future Shapers Advisory Council members Hannah Jackson, Rondo Bonilla, Sophia Kianni, Zander Moricz, Jack Wright, Heidi D'Amelio, Marc D'Amelio, and Aidan Kohn-Murphy were also in attendance, as were Reform Alliance executives Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney. Dixie, 21, is also a member of the council. Kim and Rubin came up with the idea for the new council after hosting a Reform Alliance dinner earlier this year. Kim told Vogue last year that she hopes to start a thriving law business after passing California's "baby bar," also known as the First-Year Law Students' Examination.
Tumblr media
She'd failed it three times before, as evidenced by her reality TV show. Kim visited the White House multiple times during the Trump administration to discuss criminal justice reform. She also persuaded the then-President to pardon Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a nonviolent narcotics charge. Kim's late father, Robert Kardashian, was a defense attorney during O.J. Simpson's murder trial in 1995. Read the full article
