So um WHY have we never talked about Ran starting her period for the first time when left under the care of Haru, and Haru having to deal with that chaos??? Bc i think he'd b really great and also think it would be feral and unhinged and hilarious

The thought of Haru being the one in charge here is so fun because he’s trying to stay calm for Ran (who is reasonably so, kinda sorta fReAkInG oUt) while also figuring out his game plan. Like, his first gut instinct when they get back to the house (because they have to have the classic bleed-through in public with Haru giving her a jacket to tie around her waist; it’s a rite of passage) is “sick Tachibana, sad Tachibana, must make soup must MAKE SOUP” when he knows that shouldn’t be step one here. Haru trying to calmly be like “this is normal, you’ll be alright, what do you need from me?” while Ran can’t decide between “go away Haru!!” and “what? Go to the store? Leaving me in my time of need?? JAIL FOR HARU!”

Haru being slightly overwhelmed by it all coming out of nowhere (the one time everyone else is out and busy), but also sorta relieved that there isn’t a big audience or too many hands involved right now when Ran seems mortified at the thought of anyone seeing her when she doesn’t fully know what’s going on. Mama Tachibana taking awhile to call Haru back (because of course she’s busy right now) makes him trial-by-fire figure out how to web surf on his phone for extra advice fast. Haru’s heart breaking a bit when she comes out after cleaning up like “I’m fine” but with obvious tears, because he’ll always be a sucker for rare Tachibana kiddo tears.

The rest of the household gets clued into the new shift when they get home to find Ran chilling out with a heating pack and Haru making soup (he couldn’t stop himself even if he wanted to). Haru threatening both of the boys with his ladle like 🤨“y’all better not make her feel weird about any of this.” Haru sitting with Makoto later that night in relative silence, until he randomly starts dropping uterus fun facts. It’s a whole chaotic day, truly

makoto and haruka gif set the typography in this one is just really beautiful and eye catching! i also love how you’ve split up the gifs and the overlay of the third and fourth panel is just very seamless and smooth. the last panel is also incredibly amazing, and it’s very apparent that you’ve put a lot of love and time into making this set, it’s very beautiful.

haruka gif set this one in complete contrast to the other gif set, but i love it for it’s simplicity. there is just something about this particular shot that is very aesthetically pleasing to me. and the caption is great and just makes this a 10/10

Djidjdjssnns cannot stop thing about what u said and Rin & Haru's sibling dynamic and how Rin would learn the phrase "brother from another mother" from one of his Australian buddies and WILL NOT stop calling Haru that, Haru's constantly like "I Do Not Know What That Means, also get off me"

Also during like an Olympic interview Haru referes to Rin as "one of the few people i considering to be the closest thing to having a brother" and that obviously sets off the waterworks for Rin 😩

rin and haru interpreting and expressing their friendship dynamic wildly differently is a big only child mood ✌🏻

rin trying so hard to have the Banter and the Competition and the Physical Touch and the Emotional Vulnerability and haru struggling to give it to him is so hilarious to me because yeah obviously? rin, give the overwhelmed only child some space!!!!

the twins are probably closest to actually feeling like siblings to haru but rin’s (kinda similar) instant and easily given familiarity is an enigma most of the time (nagisa too, but with rin’s energy it’s especially confusing and exhausting).

they just need a lot of time (and probably makoto and kou mediating between them) to understand the different ways the other expresses affection. still, to haru, rin referring to and treating him so familiarly does not make sense. to him it’s just one of those pushy things rin does to add to the list.

but as they constantly grow and learn more and more about each other, they get used to the things that seem absurd about the other. makoto compares them to the twins once and for a long time haru Does Not Understand. he mulls it over for YEARS before concluding that maybe there’s a point there. they have grown together, just not as kids. they annoy and say and do hurtful things to each other but somehow still have that unconditional love and appreciation between them. haru really doesn’t need or want rin to be like a brother per se, even now. but rin obviously does and haru’s finally ready to come to terms with it so… when he says it out loud it’s a huge thing for rin. and yeah maybe he should have said it privately but making rin cry on TV is a good price for admitting something so embarrassing

Carolyn was not jealous. She didn't have the time to waste on such petty emotions. She did not believe in worry. She did not believe in flitting about the point like some sort of moth. If she had something to say, if she wanted something to know what she thought, she'd damn well say it.

Everyone else knew that this was not true.

No-one else dared bring it up with her.

It was just a dog walk. It didn't mean anything. So what if they'd been to an opera, and it had been better than she'd been expecting, but she'd still hated it, of course, and now she'd planned a walk that would specifically take them round the back of the sheep farm just to piss him off? None of it meant anything, really.

So why did she care so much that he'd stood her up? She went for the walk herself, and it had been pleasant. Snoop had chased a sheep. She'd thought about Herc. She didn't believe in metaphors either.

He called, to apologise, that evening. Carolyn had stared at the number, letting it ring. But she wasn't a teenager, and she didn't believe in petty actions. She picked up, voice level. "Hercules."

"Carolyn. Did you and the dog have fun this morning? I'm so sorry that I couldn't be there."

"Snoopadoop and I coped. She rolled in sheep shit, like usual."

Herc chuckled at that. "Of course. The good news is, I'm available for the rest of the week, except Thursday."

"For what?"

"A walk?" Herc sounded hesitant, the sound of him breathing down the line counting the seconds. "That is, if you still want to."

"If you can spare enough of your time for us, then we go for a walk at the same time every day." Carolyn aimed for nonchalance, but it came out more like indignance. Dangerously close to bitter.

Herc gasped, softly, connecting something in his brain. "No, Carolyn, look - I'm sorry I didn't tell you more, earlier. My sister had to go to the hospital, suddenly - she's fine, but no-one else was around to drive her. I should have said."

Carolyn frowned, ignoring the way it felt like a weight was lifting. It didn't mean anything. Him not turning up didn't mean anything.

Him calling, now, did.

"Ten o'clock, sharp. Tomorrow. We'll leave without you if you're late."

"I know," said Herc, the smile obvious in his voice. "Carolyn, I'll be there, I promise. You're the only one I want to see tomorrow, family emergencies be damned."

"I'll hold you to that," said Carolyn. And that much, she meant. She didn't have time for petty emotions, after all. That was why she had to see him again, just to check that it was real.
