Okada Nizou x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
@higuramas here it is 🤭
Good evening! As you may know, I recently ended up watching Benizakura and felt the need to write about Nizou! So here is what I came up with! It's around seven parts, it's pretty much there to feel good!
It took place before the anime/manga, but maybe I'll have two others parts following Benizakura's events.
Please drink in moderation ~
You were working in your forge, as usual. Nothing existed but the loud and violent sound of the hammer hitting the piece of metal you were firmly holding. Your arms’ muscles were screaming because of the violent pressure you imposed on them, however, you were so focused that you totally ignored it. A headband held the sweat on your forehead but it was already to its limit. Some drops even started to trickle on your nose and then on your work.
You kept hammering anyway until you were satisfied and finally threw the hot metal in a cold tank of water. You looked totally dishevelled, your clothes were loose, and soak with sweat, while your short hair was a mess of a dead braid. You took off your headband and looked out for a bottle of water. The room was still hot because of the fire, so you figured that you would go take a breather outside.
It was only then that you noticed that you were not alone. A man was standing casually in the opening of the room. He had his arms crossed, while he seemed to look in your direction behind his sunglasses. Wearing those kinds of accessories indoors made you frown but you were not the kind to criticise others’ clothing choices.
“Impressive”, he commented with slow pacing.
“Thank you I guess”, you shrugged. “Do you need something?”
You were a bit wary, after all, you were living away from the city, and that area was known to be the centre of all kinds of bad people and deals. You were obviously a part of the shady ones, but it only made you warier of strangers.
“I heard a good blacksmith works around here, and I found myself in need of some… care for my sword.”
He put a hand on his katana’s handle and you came closer to try and take a look.
“I’m a blacksmith, a good one that I don’t know, but if you show me your sword, I can most certainly do something about it”.
“Then…”
He skillfully took it out and extended it to you without any hesitation.  His face was looking your way, and you started to feel uneasy from not being able to see his eyes behind his sunglasses. You had survived living here thanks to your obstination but mainly because you were a good judge of character. However, you were the one with the sword, for now, so you focused on it. Instantly you forgot about everything else, almost not breathing. It was not a great piece, the blade was quite common, and it had been really mistreated. From the deterioration you could easily tell that it was not used for decoration, that weapon had killed many. But the worst part was that it never had been tented.
“It’s always the same”, you cringed.
“What is?” He sounded curious and you raised your head.
Something was a bit off, his face was not exactly turned in your direction, but he was still talking directly to you.
“Every time I get to take care of a sword, I get a weapon so mistreated that it could break at any moment. It’s not that complicated to take care of it daily to prevent decay. You see there?”
He bent toward you, his face close to yours and took off his sunglasses showing his closed eyes.
“It won’t be possible for me to look at anything”, he commented with a smirk.
“Oh.” You felt a bit bad for not having noticed it sooner, but the man was behaving as if he could see as well as you. “I’m sorry”, you mumbled. “Anyway, you can feel it with your fingers too”, you grabbed his hand without hesitation and deftly made him touch it.
The blade was bruised at many places, preventing it from slicing accordingly, which was certainly why he had come to see you in the first place.
“Your blade is as good as a butter knife now, even I can’t do shit to save it. I mean I could, but the sword would break after two or three rough clashes”, you explained. “If you do not want to buy a new sword every month you need to go see a blacksmith more regularly, especially if you use it often.”
“You appear to know your subject”, he nodded, feeling what you were talking about under his fingers.
He had been taken aback by your promptness, it was not often that someone would grab his hand without hesitation like that. And even if your hand was nothing close to soft, it had been made callous from your line of work, he still appreciated the touch.
“Or at least you know how to sell your swords”', he chuckled. “Show me what you have.”
You laughed lightly too, it was true that you never hesitated to sell your swords when a dumb stranger would come here and wanted your best works. But you knew better than to try to do so with that man. The fact that he had no problem talking, and moving in accordance with you despite his blindness was already an achievement, and you could also feel that he was strong.
“Wait for me.”
You went to your storage where you put your best work. You always had some blades on display in the front of the house, but they were only for the ignorants. You hesitated for a bit, before choosing two of your best. It was silly, especially for someone that wanted to be unyielding like you, but you felt slightly bad for not noticing his blindness.
“Take those, here.”
You led him to the yard behind the house. He simply nodded and tried them, two times each. His swings were enough to give you goosebumps, and you immediately understood that he was a killer. There was no embellishment or show in his way, he was always striking for the kill.
“I will take this one”, he decided, extending the shirasaya one. “How much?”
It was one of the first you had made, it made your heart squeeze but it was too late to change your mind.
“If you promised to come to make a check every month I will ask you only half her price”, you offered.
“Her?”
“Yeah she’s my second born”, you explained without hesitation. “Her name is Yuugure”.
It was not really original since you had named her like this because of the time you had finished it. The man promised and gave you the money you asked for.
“Let's drink, now”, you said.
He raised his eyebrows, you were full of quirks like that, you already knew it, so his surprise was not out of place.
“It's only for the buyers of my best swords, it's an old thing I learned when I was young, something like you can't lie over a cup of sake.”
He scoffed again while you went to take a bottle hidden on one of the shelves around the main room. The ground level was dedicated to the forge so it was a mess only you could use, and you lived on the first floor. Even if you often ended up falling asleep on the floor as soon as you finished your work. Anyway, you found the bottle you had in mind and came back to your buyer.
“So what’s your name?” You asked him after pouring him a cup.
“I’m Okada Nizou”, he introduced himself.
You extended him his cup, he had to hear the sound of your movement because he raised his hands at the same time. Seeing it, you simply brushed it to indicate to him where the cup was, and he easily grabbed it.
“I’m Y/N by the way, do not forget to come here once per month, or I will look for you”, you commanded before drinking the alcohol in one sip.
You had chosen your best bottle, it was not every day you sold one of your babies, and the good taste helped you make your peace with it. You saw Nizou drink it in one go like you, and you thought that maybe he will respect your wish.
When he left with his new acquisition, the blind man felt satisfied. He had bought a decent weapon for not much. Furthermore, he could not take his mind off you. You totally conformed with the people living around here, you were hard and rough, but there was something else. He had the time to look at you while you were working before you noticed him. But your light was something else from what he was used to seeing. He wondered how bright it would shine if he killed you.

an incredibly underrated dynamic in one piece in relation to its themes of found family is luffy and jinbe specifically because one piece heavily emphasizes the importance of how blood doesnt define your family and that you fully choose it but luffy and jinbe literally shared blood and became that family. and more than anything a large defining aspect of impel down and marineford is how luffy was entirely on his own in the world with ace specifically mentioned by jinbe himself as the guiding light luffy followed as a pirate and how this entire saga starts with ace asking jinbe to protect his brother and is book-ended with jinbe becoming a guiding light to luffy in the same way to help keep him on his path as a pirate and honestly much like how wano is a complete representation of luffy inheriting ace's will to save the people he'd left promised to save one day there is also jinbe inheriting ace's will of a big brother who cares for and protects his little brother. luffy and ace may not have shared blood but they were always brothers and just like whitebeard said it doesnt matter if you extinguish a bloodline you cannot extinguish what it represented or the will it left behind and then this is brought full circle in fishman island with generations of bloodshed being tackled not with grand idealism but the act of saving one another by sharing blood. luffy ace and sabo shared a sake cup to christen themselves as brothers and jinbe in this moment of sharing his blood with luffy, completely spitting in the face of generations of prejudice, fear and hatred, also became his brother.

What a plot twist you were. [x]
#Like. The narrator introduces jc to us as the antagonist#Then we got to know him. Not who people think he's. But who he really is#And we saw jc giving wwx a piggyback. Giving him soup. Rescuing him. Putting himself between wwx and any danger (madam yu/wen soldiers)#And even the staged fight. It's yk. Staged#jc wanted to protect wwx at any cost. But wwx wasn't willing to compromise. But jc did#The fight was wwx's idea. Because jc is an enabler (just like jfm and jyl)#jc is ready to bend for his loved ones sake#The point is. Every action jc takes. Is in the name of his loves ones' safety. And surprise. wwx is one of the people jc really cares about#Even after wwx' return. Aside a broken cup. jc isn't doing much to stop wwx or anything. We know that jl was able to free wwx from Zidian#only because jc - Zidian's primary master- wanted it!#And jc fling himself into danger countless times to save wwx even though wwx can't sit still with him for a hot minute#What I wanted to say it's that the jc is presented to us - the mean ungrateful man- is very different from the real jc -#the indulgent uncle who rolls his eyes at his nephew antics. the brother who buries the hatchet for his sister's happiness.#the uncle who kinda wants to help wn to get up from the floor because he was an ass to jc but he helped jl and that's what matters to jc#the sect leader who let two women speak freely their mind in a patriarchy society#People better than me have already said this. shit I can't remember my point lmao#Like. jc is presented as an antagonist but what this man wanted was an apology and an explanation#This post is a mix of a rant I wrote last year (ha) after seeing a bad take. About what I don't remember lmaoo. And me wanting#to make gifs of wzc in this scene. Why does he look so good. It should be illegal. Seriously#jiang cheng#*mgifs

Refreshing glass plate and cup set with tiny blue and purple dots, made to serve somen (cold noodles) and other summery dishes.
Tumblr media
Glass was once quite rare and precious in Japan as it was a foreign good. Such items were very pricey and fragile.
Traditionally, summer items try to have shiny materials so when they glitter under the sun (somehow mimicing glimmering water), people experience a little respite from smothering heat - hence why you can find glass tableware, for example used for summer chawan (tea ceremony bowl):

A cup of sake - II
First part - Table of contents
Okada Nizou x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Hello! I'm here with a longer part :3 Hope you'll enjoy reading it!
As unexpected as it was, Nizou turned out to be true to his words. You surprisingly found him on your doorstep around one month later.
When he stepped again into your forge, the assassin felt conflicted. The sword was far better than what he was used to. Usually, he would just go with any katana he could find, since his skills were so great that he had not to be bothered by the state of his weapon. However, he had to admit that he had felt a difference in power with this one. It was as if it reacted before he moved, guessing his thoughts before his muscles. And the sensation was truly superb.
But when he saw your light again, he wondered about what he was going to do. Even if you smelt like steel and fire with only a hint of blood, it was obvious you could not even put up a good fight against him. On one hand he was curious about how you could shine, while on the other hand he needed you to take care of his sword.
“You kept your words, I’m amazed”, he heard you praise him.
“It's not possible to lie over a cup of sake, isn’t it?” he dragged the last word and you scoffed.
“Yeah, that’s true. Do you have work for me then?”
He heard you come closer, he automatically took his sword out of his belt, but when he started to draw it from his sheath, he stopped, the blade half outside. Could he kill you now? He had already killed so many so one more would not change anything. He was really curious, craving to see how you would shine under his weapon…
Suddenly, he felt a hand on his.
“If you want to fight me, I can oblige you, but let me tend to my creation first”, you asked with a determined voice. “I already let down my child once, I don’t want to do it again.”
“I don’t smell a worthy opponent anyway”, he sneered, letting go of the sword.
“Can’t deny it”, you shrugged off without shame. “I’ll take care of it, you can wait in the garden if you want. There’s some nice shade under the oak tree.”
He frowned without understanding why you would specify the last part, but since he had nothing better to do he went there to sit down.
Around an hour later, he heard you sitting next to him.
“Here”, you said.
He felt your hand brushing his again and ended up with a cup of sake. A second later, your cup hit his.
“Kanpai!” You happily exclaimed.
“Kanpai”, he repeated amused by the situation. “What did I do to deserve this one?” He slowly wondered.
“You came back, it’s great enough to deserve my gratitude”, you explained and even he could hear your smile.
You put the bottle between the both of you, pouring a drink for him or you when needed. It was very awkward, especially when you were perfectly aware that he could kill you anytime he wanted, but he had kept his promise, so you trusted him. At least a little.
Meanwhile, Nizou started to think that it was not so bad, sitting there, where no light could bother him while sharing a nice drink and sometimes enjoying your brief and warm touch.
*
Like this, you became used to seeing the blind man every month. It quickly became a Rendez-Vous you were looking forward to, despite everything you started to hear around. You often went outside to buy materials or to see other blacksmiths with whom you were on good terms. While on those trips outside your forge you heard about someone called the butcher, or Nizou the butcher. And as if it was not obvious enough, sometimes people would also talk about the shirasaya katana that he was using and the fact that he was blind. You were not really surprised, after all, you had understood from the beginning that he was a killer (everyone with a sword was), but you had not expected him to be so extreme.
Still, it was not your place to question him since people living here were all killers, thieves or both or even worse. And you were enjoying his visits. You were thinking about all this when tending to Yuugure. You had already lost count of how many times Nizou had come, and as usual, he had gone in the garden while you did your job. It did not take long before you could join him.
However, you instantly froze when you saw him. He was not sitting under the tree. You had no idea how he found it, but he was currently training with a bokken, under the shade. Maybe because of the harassing heat, he had taken off his green kimono. He was unexpectedly muscular, and your eyes could not divert from his arms slashing hard, his torso twisting perfectly for each strike. It was really a sight to behold.
It made you realise that you had stopped looking at him as a stranger a long time ago. He had become close to a friend somewhere along the line. You had enjoyed your slow, casual talks, just sharing some warmth like you had forgotten it was possible. Often you would touch his hands just to guide him, even if you knew it was useless, until it became more for you than for him. But he had never told you to stop. And now… Seeing him like this… You felt something deliciously warm shift within your insides, flushing your face. At that moment, you knew you were doomed.
“Do you enjoy what you are seeing?” He sassily inquired.
How long have you been staring? You held on to a surprised gasp.
“Yes”, you answered anyway.
You were old enough to know what you wanted so why hide it? The real question was, did Nizou know it too? For now, he simply stopped and went to grab his clothes.
“Wait, I have a clean towel close.”
With the forge's heat, you obviously had a stack of clean towels to wipe off your sweat. You quickly took one and went back to the blind man. He gratefully nodded when receiving it. You shamelessly watched him clean off, even if he probably was aware of your glare, he once again chose not to say a word.
After that, you both peacefully drink in silence for a while, until a question came to your mind.
“Do you use specific sunglasses?”
“It’s just sunglasses”, he frowned, it was the first time you both talked about his blindness.
“Stop me if I’m mingling too much… But you should use special ones. You can see some lights, can’t you?”
That time he even looked surprised to hear such things from someone else, and for a man always prideful and confident, it bothered you.
“I can see… some lights indeed”, his tone implied that he was not telling everything but it was enough for you.
You took a deep breath before going through what you had in mind. It was difficult, but you never went back on your decision.
“Do you mind if I try something different with your sunglasses?”
Nizou was quite interested in what you had to show him, and he handed them to you without a second thought. After all, they were just cheap accessories he had bought. He often ended up breaking them, since he did not care about it.
He listened carefully to what was happening beside him, you had taken the glasses off and were putting others in their place. It was odd, a smirk started to show on his face.
“Here, put them again.”
He put the sunglasses back, and immediately it was different.
“Blind people often tend to perceive light, it can be really bad for their eyes, those glasses are specially made to help temper it, to protect your eyes.”
It was as if everything was easier for Nizou, it was hard to describe. Like a weight, he had carried for so long that he had forgotten everything about it.
“Why would you give me something like this?” He asked out of surprise.
He suspected that it was out of pity, that you were actually looking down on him and it made him unable to appreciate the gesture.
“I had them for a long time, so I thought rather than letting them dusting away, it would be nice to give them to you, who I know would put them to good use”
“What do they look like ?”, he finally inquired after a silence. “I am not born blind”, he added, guessing your puzzlement to his question.
“Hm… they are orange”, you admitted, a bit bothered to give something so colourful to a swordsman like him.
But since he was always wearing a green kimono, maybe it would not bother him too much.
Nizou simply hummed. The silence was dense as if none of you knew what to say. You did not really need any grateful words, as you were already happy to see him wearing them. While he felt like he had to say something but everything was too much for him. Fighting and killing were easier ways of expression. And he sensed as if he could not simply get away with a cheeky comment.
“How do you know so much?” He wondered, avoiding the problem altogether.
At that moment, even without his sight, he could tell that the subject was too hard on you. There was incredible tension, and pain coming from you. The sound of your respiration was short and difficult. It made his mind freeze and before he could think it through, he raised his left hand to slightly touch yours.
“Forget about it.”
“Not it’s okay…” You took a deep breath. “I had a daughter, years ago. She gradually became blind. I learned a bit about her condition, only it was way too late. I chose those because she liked that colour, but I never had the opportunity to give them to her.”
It was no use to ask where she was now, it was obvious to Nizou that she had died some time ago. The gift took a whole other dimension, but he was not the kind of man to bother with the weight of the dead. Quite the contrary, however in that situation he experienced a strange and unexpected compassion for you.
“Thank you… For sharing this.”
You smiled sadly and happily at the same time.
“Thank you for listening to me”, you spoke, “actually it’s the first time I talk about her to someone else…”
Nizou was uneasy, nonetheless, he kept going on that track because he wanted to hear more about you, to understand who you had been, and what had led you to who you were now. Maybe it would help him to see, and understand your light better.
“If you want to tell me more, I’m not busy today”, he explained as if it was nothing.
His behaviour made you smile, and a nice warmth spread in your chest.
“I’m very grateful, you know you can share whatever you want with me too?”
He scoffed, a part of him wanted to just throw everything at you without a filter, and scare you away for good, but the rest was reluctant to give up that fragile peace he had found here with you.
“Maybe someday”, he smirked. “Meanwhile I’m thirsty, do you still have your sake?”
You laughed light-heartedly.
“Yes, I have !”

hhhhhhhhhhhhh……..,.,….,,.,
thinkign about how people want and care more about sigma joining the ada again and saying Chuuya is happy in the pm……….
siiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhh…….,,.,,,,,…….,
Thinking about how Dazai left and managed to join the light but Chuuya was left to rot in the port mafia…………
thinking about how both of their “mentors” died but detective was at least a better person morally though when he died Chuuya had to stay in the port mafia… and thinking about how oda died but dazai managed to join the light…….. thinking…….. (this topic specifically drives me insane. I can’t put it into words correctly so I’m sorry if this reads wrong but it’s just. That whole concept makes me ill)
Wondering what it would take for Chuuya to leave the port mafia and what would truly happen if he did……………
I honestly don't expect Chuuya to leave the mafia even if it would be good for him overall. He has a lot to lose, more so than Dazai or Aku or anyone to be pretty honest with you. And I dunno I dont know if he'll ever really join the ADA in general. At best he is left with joining one govt organization or go into hiding for the foreseeable future which is again pointless cause a) Chuuya is not someone who likes to sit around useless when Yokohama is burning and b) the govt has ways and means of finding him. For Chuuya to leave I think its gonna take something like Mori actually being involved in the experimentation but idk.
As for why people are so hung up on Sigma joining, I dont know, I dont get the hype with the guy at all. I dont see him offering anything special/unique to the story since most of his canon traits are mostly just aspects taken from other, better established characters. Chuuya's missing memories, Kunikida's reactions to Dazai, Atsushi's naivety and connection to the book, getting used and manipulated by an organisation like 90% of the cast, a desire for a place to belong which is literally everyone in the cast. Dazai even brings up both Kunikida and Atsushi as a comparison for him.
Sorry, like no offense to his fans, we all have our preferences but I just dont care about the guy. Like, sure the one thing he has offered to the story so far is get Fyodor's information but I have no reason to root for him when there are characters that interest me far more. And I feel like if any of the ex enemies deserved to be admitted into the ADA it was Lucy anyway.
