I am constantly thinking about the issue of Squirrel Girl where Doreen Green’s friend Nancy gets kidnapped and the only witness was a cat, and Doreen is Squirrel Girl and she can talk to squirrels so she figures that there’s gotta be a cat-themed hero who can talk to cats, and she’s running around the city with the cat in a cat carrier getting increasingly frustrated because it turns out ALL the cat-themed heroes are only cat-themed as a gimmick and none of them actually have any cat-related powers let alone the ability to communicate with cats

I’m so tired with people continuing to tag me in posts with tags in the posts implying I’m attempting to gatekeep dpxdc.
I’m just asking folks to read some wikis or maybe watch a DC tv show to get more ideas because the content in DC is so expansive. I’ve been trying to push this since July of 2022.
I’m writing it like this so people just understand. I just want to show folks the cool thing I enjoy and That theres so much more content to play with when you either do (or don’t idk at this point bro) choose to look more into the greater fandoms of the Crossover.
You can write whatever you want, I would just think it would be cool to see the looking into cool DC stuff by the community.
I’m not gatekeeping or trying to prevent people from writing fanfic. I read all forms of dpxdc fics at every level of fanon to canon to AUs to Ghost AUs.
I’m just trying to push a cool thing I like to show other people the cool thing I like?

People who use neo pronouns and neo genders are actually really awesome.
Like, not only do you understand yourself well enough to self identify your gender outside of what was assigned at birth, but you're creative and have enough self understanding to literally make up a new term that didn't exist before? That's some fantastic Shakespeare level shit.
Y'all are literally visionaries and people don't give you enough credit. It's so fucking amazing whenever people are literally able to find a term that they relate to despite the fact that that term is rare and has barely been talked about before.
Y'all are literally trailblazers and you are a vital part of the LGBTQIA+ community. MOGAI and neo identities are what are able to keep our community evolving to be more inclusive and just better for everyone in it.
Edit: I have a DNI list. Please respect it.

I'm already know for being very opinionated and having some Hot Takes, but I still usually keep it in line and fairly reasonable. Typical "Unpopular (but still somewhat safe to voice) Opinion" territory, where I might get some blocks and some scowls, but like, nothing major.
However I'm... gonna be posting an uncharacteristically rancid take this time.
I cannot fucking STAND vibes based design. Its become a trend lately to explain game systems by vibes, and it feels EXACTLY like the tropification of romance novels. A thing so many other people have complained about far more than I have, where so many works of fiction are now just being advertise as "Its a queer little slow burn, found family story that features enemies to lovers" OKAY, BUT WHATS THE FUCKING BOOK ABOUT?
And I feel like over the past 15-20 years, the TTRPG industry has been having the exact same issue. I can go through dozens of listings on itch.io for indie games and not see a single fucking game mechanic mentioned, and its frustrating. "This game is about gathering your friends to turn your local farm into a sustainable commune!" WHAT KIND OF FUCKING DICE DOES THE GAME USE? DOES THE GAME EVEN HAVE A GM?
And like, this isn't just about the feel good warm and fuzzy games. OSR is JUST as fucking guilty in this. "This game is a black metal death crawl through your worst nightmares." IS IT A RETROCLONE? IS IT A RULES LITE D6 SYSTEM? HOW THE FUCK DO I RESOLVE AN ACTION? DO ENEMIES USE STATBLOCKS?
If a video game showed absolutely no gameplay in any of its advertisements, only showing concept trailers and cutscenes and talking about its plot, you would probably shy away and think the game isn't worth playing if it can't even stand on the merits of its own gameplay. So why the fuck are we accepting that as the norm in TTRPGs?

Okay okay okay okay
I have to write it down because I keep composing it while I work
(Everhood spoilers below the cut)
So I've seen a few people misinterpret the point behind killing everyone that Everhood forces onto you in order to reach the end, and I think it might be due to getting too caught up in the parallels to Undertale that are there
They think that it's taking the murder run and being like "see? This is bad!!" which they respond like "no duh but uh Undertale did that better"
But!!
That's not the point.
The point isn't the same Undertale makes, but it's a companion:
Sometimes, Mercy isn't the answer.
Sometimes, Mercy is a cruelty.
These beings have been trapped in the Everhood for over six. Million. Years. Some far longer, maybe a few shorter. They're all intimately aware that the only way out is the Incinerator, but they cling to their lives as desperately as anything living would. They aren't even close to human anymore, even if they never started out as human to begin with. They are undying and have existed for longer than the mind can comprehend. They've become bored, cruel, despairing, and complacent.
They have stagnated.
They exist and that's all they can do.
What you offer them is Mercy, even if it takes such an ugly form. They fight back and struggle, as all living things are wont to do, but what you offer them is ultimately Mercy.
It's ugly and harrowing for you, (for Pink), because no matter how merciful, it is still murder. Even if you're helping their souls return to the cycle of life, even if you're releasing them from their stagnation and despair and cruelty, you're still taking their lives against their wills.
No one wants to die, no matter how cursed the existence.
There will be reconciliation, no matter how ugly.
Hard choices will be justified in the end.
The only possible Mercy you're able to offer is the cruelest upon your own soul. (Pink's soul).
anyway yeah Everhood is really good go play it

Something I drew during the drawfee stream earlier today that I'm actually really proud of. I have basically no clue what I'm doing and I am sure there are a trillion mistakes, but I really wanted to start learning how to make art at the start of the year, and I've been in a rut with it over the last month. But I felt inspired tonight to make something and I really like how it came out!
Inspired by the character Hikari from Octopath Traveler II and made in clip studio

i saw a tv show some days ago where a young woman in the 60s/70s (don't remember exactly but it was either 60s or 70s, nothing else) was violently harrassed and bullied for being gender non conforming, for "looking like a man" (short hair, masculine clothes, no makeup, etc) and for liking "men things" (she loved cars, and was very good at mechanics, a subject she wanted to study), and her bullies were using the word "queer" against her, writing it on her chair, yelling it at her, etc (we learn later that she wasn't a lesbian, actually, but they thought she had to be one since she was masculine), at the end of the episode the girl is sent to conversion therapy, where they try to force her to become feminine, to act "like a woman", to wear make-up, etc., until they end up lobotomizing her (after several sessions of "electrical tests" supposed to "cure" her) because she resisted and was impossible to "cure". she dies short after that, and the very end of the episode takes place years and years later, decades later, and we see a girl with blue hair sitting on a chair with a big smile, proudly wearing a t-shirt saying "queer planet" with a lgbt flag.
if that doesn't represent very well the current lgbtqia+ community, i don't know what will, lol. this girl faced horrible violence and discrimination for being gender non conforming and because everyone thought she was a lesbian, they used the word queer, a slur, against her, and years later a teenager who doesn't know half of the things people went through decades ago for fighting and just being who they were comes with her blue hair proudly using this slur as if it was just a word.
people suffered decades ago for being same sex attracted and gender non conforming, they went through hell, the word queer was used against them as a slur, and now people who didn't go through any of that (which is a good thing of course) and don't know their history try to reclaim this term, to use it casually, to pretend it isn't a slur and should be used to describe the entire community. that's disgusting.

Mercy 🔮
[ future scene ask ] @fuzzydreamin
I keep playing around with this post-game idea for Mercy where she stays in the Commonwealth, rather than wandering off like she normally does after a few months, & having her set up some sort of clinic for specialized services. She'd obviously offer standard medical care(albeit more ghoul-centric than other Commonwealth medical providers), medical supplies, chems, and she'd get into medical implants and probably some induced mutations as well.
I also think it'd be fun to let her play around with syringers at some point, and letting her make new experimental darts and maybe even offering those for sale when she decides they're consistent enough. She'd drag Reed, and potentially a few others, into doing field trials for those since her vision and long distance aim aren't the greatest.
I'm including a few screenshots here since I've been exploring potential locations where she could set up shop like this, and of course she's going to have all kinds of herbs and whatnot growing in the surrounding area/greenhouse/etc so she has a reliable source of supplies. These are from the Coastal Cottage build where I made this sick ass fungi cave under the house
