Coffins of Tutankhamun𓏤 The Pharaoh 𓉐𓉼 “pr-aA” Tutankhamun (𓇋𓏠𓈖𓏏𓅱𓏏𓋹𓋾𓉺𓇑) “twt-ankh-imn~hekA-iwnw-šmAi)” ‘The Living Image of Amun, Ruler of Southern Iwnw (Heliopolis)’ died aged only 19.𓏤 In the first photo you can see his replicated mummified body and one of his 4 coffins at the British Museum. The sarcophagus was one of his 4 coffins 𓏘𓂋𓋴𓊭 “qrsw” which were placed were fitted into the burial 𓈎𓂋𓋴𓌟𓏏𓊭 “krs” chamber inside his tomb 𓂝𓂝𓇋𓉴 “aai”. The other chambers were filled with goods and treasures that the pharaoh might need in the Afterlife 𓋴𓐍𓏏𓇏 𓇋𓄿𓃭 “sḫ.t-ı͗Arw” Field of Reeds (Wenis - Pyramid Text). It was intended, of course, for the pharaoh’s mummy to lie inside his tomb forever 𓆖.𓏤 But the abundance of gold 𓋞 “nbw” and jewellery would usually attract robbers—probably within only a few years 𓆴𓏪 “rnpt” of the pharaoh’s burial. But, incredibly, after two early break-ins, during which few treasures was stolen, Tutankhamun’s tomb remained undisturbed for more than 3000 𓆾 years until it was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter.𓏤 Inside the tomb were statues 𓂙𓏏𓏭𓀾 “hnty”, furniture 𓇋𓊪𓂧𓆱𓏫 “ı͗pdw”, jewellery 𓐢𓂋𓅱𓏬 “aprw” and many other precious items left exactly as they had been placed all those centuries before. 𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬𓋹𓎬 Follow: @egyptologylessons 𓋹𓊽𓋴𓆖𓎛𓇳𓎛 𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁𓊁 #egypt #egyptian #ancient #ancientegypt #hieroglyphics #ägypten #middleeast #worldtourismday #thisisegypt #egyptologist #myegypt #egyptianhistory #egyptology #archeology #hieroglyphs #madeinegypt #egypte #egyptians #egyptshots #loveegypt #discoveregypt #tutankamun #coffin #egyptiantreasure #pharaoh #egyptianburial https://www.instagram.com/p/Cki-5xvuP0T/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The winds of change are blowing through Europe's tourism industry. As the continent emerges from the challenges of the pandemic, a renewed focus on collaboration and innovation is driving a tourism revival. The 70th meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe, held in the Albanian capital of Tirana, served as a pivotal platform for European tourism authorities to chart a course for a resilient and sustainable future. Albania Leads the Charge in Tourism Recovery Prior to the official meeting, UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. Albania has emerged as a leader in post-pandemic tourism recovery, boasting a staggering 53% increase in international tourist arrivals compared to 2019. This impressive growth serves as a beacon of hope for the entire European tourism sector. Europe's Post-Pandemic Tourism Boom A Shared Vision for Sustainable Tourism Development The discussions between the Secretary-General and the Prime Minister delved deeper than mere statistics. They explored the importance of sustainable tourism practices, harnessing digital innovation, and fostering an inclusive tourism industry that benefits local communities and preserves cultural heritage. This collaborative approach underscores a commitment to a future where tourism growth is balanced with environmental and social responsibility. A Legal Framework for the Agenda for Europe The meeting in Tirana brought together high-level delegations from 40 UNWTO member states. Representatives received updates on the organization's work, strategic objectives, and priorities, with a particular focus on: The political and economic outlook for tourism in Europe The recent rebranding of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) The latest data on tourism arrivals and revenue across the continent Upcoming events and initiatives spearheaded by UNWTO Setting Priorities and Building Resilience A key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of crucial documents: Rules of Procedure for the Working Group: This framework establishes guidelines for a dedicated working group that will address tourism challenges and opportunities in Europe. Selection Criteria and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Project Evaluation: These criteria will ensure transparency and effectiveness when awarding support to projects under the Agenda for Europe initiative. The Agenda for Europe: Tailored Solutions for Regional Needs The Agenda for Europe represents a collaborative effort by European UNWTO member states. This program aims to address the specific needs and challenges facing the region's tourism industry in a post-pandemic landscape. It goes beyond a one-size-fits-all approach, offering tailored solutions and fostering regional collaboration. Looking Forward: World Tourism Day and Beyond The Commission meeting also served as a platform for future planning: World Tourism Day 2024: Georgia received the honor of hosting this prestigious event, a global celebration of the importance of tourism. Commission Meeting 2025: Azerbaijan accepted the invitation to host the next annual meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe. A Subregional Focus: Southeast Europe in Dialogue The meeting in Tirana extended beyond pan-European discussions. A dedicated session focused on the specific challenges and opportunities faced by Southeast European nations. Representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, and several other countries shared insights and experiences, with a particular focus on short-term rentals and regional investment strategies. Investment and Economic Development: A Side Conference A traditional side conference on "Tourism Investments and Economic Development in Europe" complemented the official meeting. This event provided a platform for discussing global tourism investment trends, identifying opportunities for positive change, and sharing success stories from Albania and other destinations. A Practical Guide for Tourism Investments The conference also saw the unveiling of a practical guide developed by UNWTO - "Tourism Doing Business: Investing in Albania." This resource aims to equip investors with valuable information and insights for navigating the Albanian tourism market. A Collaborative Future for European Tourism The 70th meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe marked a significant step forward for European tourism. By fostering collaboration, exchanging best practices, and prioritizing sustainability, European nations are poised to capitalize on the post-pandemic tourism boom. Albania's leadership, the Agenda for Europe initiative, and the upcoming World Tourism Day celebrations further solidify this commitment to a brighter future for tourism in Europe.

World Tourism Day
Take the plunge and visit that place you’ve always wanted to go on World Tourism Day, or look into tourist locations, functions, and events closer to you.
Travel has been said to broaden the mind, exploring the world and seeing the broad vistas and cultures that the people of the world offer. Tourism can describe travel for pleasure both foreign and domestic, and has been happening as long as long as mankind.
World Tourism Day is your opportunity to broad your own world a little, find a location you’ve always wanted to make time to visit, and finally, get around to making time to do it. So find your inner traveler and get out there and experience the places you’ve always wanted to see.
Learn about World Tourism Day
Tourism expects to grow at a rate of three percent per year until 2030, and this is a trend that we can only see growing and growing beyond that. This growth can be attributed to a number of different reasons. This includes growing middle classes around the world and a reduction in the price of transport, particularly air transport.
The improved adoption of labor rights in a lot of countries and the recognition of the right to holidays in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights have both played a role as well. Despite challenges, such as pandemics, natural disasters, and worldwide economics crises, the tourist sector has experienced virtually uninterrupted growth.
World Tourism Day has been designed to pay tribute to this industry, encourage people to travel, and honor those who do such a good job of working in the tourism sector and enabling us to all fulfil our goals of visiting different places around the world.
Every year, there is a different theme for World Tourism Day. For example, in 2019, the theme was Tourism and Jobs – A Better Future For All. This encourages people to focus on job creation within the tourism sector.
The United Nations wanted to promote the creation of new policies to address the existing mismatch between the tourism skills that are being taught and the skills that are actually needed, as well as to incorporate and reflect the continual advances in technology.
The UN also wanted to create better and more jobs, particularly for youth and women. Because of this, we would definitely recommend finding out what the theme is for World Tourism Day. This can give you inspiration for the most appropriate way to celebrate and observe World Tourism Day and to do your bit for the cause.
History of World Tourism Day
Tourism has been a part of the human experience as long as there have been distant places to go and experience. It was originally the province of the wealthy, with travel being difficult and expensive, but it afforded opportunities to learn new languages, experience different cuisines, and generally see what there was to see.
Tourism can be argued to be traced back to the Shulgi period in Ancient China, when Kings took great pains to protect the roads and build waystations for travelers. In the Middle Ages travel became even more important for religious reasons, Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity all had pilgrimage traditions that required travelling great distances in the interest of health and spiritual improvement.
World Tourism Day was established by The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to promote sustainable, responsible, and universally accessible tourism. Tourism benefits both the tourist and the locations that they visit, and is one of the major drivers of economic growth.
To this end they’ve put together the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, to help increase the benefits of tourism while minimizing its impact and protected the people, cultures, and environments of the locations people go to visit and experience.
World Tourism Day is something that has been going for many years now. It was actually the third session of the UNWTO General Assembly whereby it was decided that World Tourism Day would be instituted. This happened in Spain at Torremolinos in September of 1979.
This led to the first World Tourism Day taking place the following year, in 1980. The date was selected so that it would coincide with a vital milestone in global tourism, this being the anniversary of when the UNWTO Statues were adopted on the 27th of September in 1970. It is also an appropriate choice because it marks the beginning of the season in the southern hemisphere and the conclusion of the high season in the northern hemisphere.
How to celebrate World Tourism Day
World Tourism Day is best celebrated by digging into your book of dreams and finding that place in the world you most wish to go. If you’re unable to get yourself there now, plan for the future and take a closer trip to get yourself into the groove of going out, seeing the world, and travelling.
If you live in a tourist destination, you can get yourself involved in how tourism works in your area and see what you can do to help protect your local heritage, cultural sites, and help share the wonders and history of your area with those who come to see it.
You can also use World Tourism Day in order to raise awareness about the industry and the different challenges that are faced. Speak up and use your voice to promote better working conditions for those in the tourism sector. You can also use the date to promote hidden gems around the world, which could do with an influx in tourists in order to boost their economy and get their communities on the map.
Reflect on the amazing places that you have had the honor of visiting already, as well as planning the places that you want to visit in the future!
